We’ll be discussing problematic pre-productions, difficult directors, and confusing chronologies in an episode with a galaxy of fascinating factoids and controversial opinions to delight or enrage you depending on your point of view.

On this week’s show, to celebrate Screen B14 and The Mockingbird Cinema’s screening of Gaspar Noé’s cinematic bad trip, Enter the Void, we’ll be taking a magical

mystery tour through psychedelic cinema. 

From the colourful, to the wacky, to the downright disturbing, we’ll be discussing a kaleidoscopic array of films to take your mind off reality, from Dumbo to Eraserhead. 

We’ll also have an update on Nadine’s time in the land of Oz, and Rory will be going on a little trip of his own, so this episode is set to be a journey through time and space that you’ll be having flashbacks to for years!

To celebrate Screen B14 and Blow Water’s screening of the 1997 romantic comedy Peggy Su, we’ll be talking to executive producer Roger Shannon, a veteran of British independent cinema.

Roger was kind enough to take the time to talk to us about a range of topics including the production of Peggy Su, the representation of cities on film, and even Isaac Hayes’s boxer shorts. How on earth did the conversation lead to that last subject? You’ll have to listen to find out.

It's awards season in the movie world, so we've been rolling out the red carpet at the Brum Radio studios for a very special episode. To tie in with the release of Priscilla and Poor Things, we thought it would be appropriate to talk about our favourite “strong female characters” from cinema and whether or not this is a meaningful phrase to describe movie heroines. Spoiler alert: Not really.
