Part 2 of our wistful discussion of things past and the choking sentiment of nostalgia plaguing media today

Well, it was back in '24 when Adam up and sold all his possessions and moved out west to the Rockies to live off the land as a trapper and all around mountain man since he already felt that he had the beard for it. Josh began training to accomplish his lifelong pursuit to fight a bear in a sumo match. As for Jason, well he decided to sail around the world solo in an inflatable kiddie pool. Why'd they do such things? Some say that they were crazy. Others say they was bored. Still, some believe that they were just plumb stupid. Turns out that they were all those things. Plus, they wanted to prepare to talk about movies concerning man vs. nature like Project Grizzly, The Revenant, All Is Lost, Jerimiah Johnson, and Never Cry Wolf.

2022 is doing its absolute best to out jerk 2020 & 2021. When Josh gets hit with COVID, Adam and Jason decide to have a little conversation with you, the listeners. We're laying out our plans for 2022 and asking for you to give us a hand in making the Bricked Pit a better podcast. They also give some recommendations from their recent viewing habit.

The Ghosts of Podcasts Past, Present, and Future arrive to teach the guys about the true meaning of the Christmas movie. Being the know-it-all jerks that they are, Jason, Josh, and Adam decide to tell the ghosts what a good Christmas movie is really about. They also wedgie the ghosts and take their lunch money as they discuss the various versions of A Christmas Carol (including the Muppet kind), A Christmas Story, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause, and the Ahnold classic Jingle All the Way. 

Adam thinks he knows why Josh hates

It's a lazy night. It's raining outside, and your ankle monitor keeps you in a ten yard radius of the sofa. The TV is there, and it's your friend. Time to flip through the channels and find something good to watch. Josh, Adam, and Jason discuss those films that make them put down the remote and pay attention. We'll find out which films they are prone to watch no matter the time, place, or how far along the film already is. We dig up some fine examples of always watchable entertainment like: Race for Your Life, Charlie Brown; Star Wars: A New Hope & The Empire Strikes Back; Silverado; Pulp Fiction; Bridge on the River Kwai; Beastmaster; and Big Trouble in Little China.

Unfortunately, it's happened to all of us. Especially when you were young. It wasn't really your fault. You just didn't know any better. You got caught up in the wrong crowd. Peer pressure is a thing. Before you know it, you're using that money that you stole from your mother's purse to buy a ticket to Attack of the Clones. I mean... you saw The Phantom Menace. You know that this isn't going to get any better; but there are your friends waving you into the theater. The latest trailers and Lego sets are racing across their minds. They've succumbed to... THE OVERHYPE!!!!

Join Adam, Jason, and Josh as they discuss those films that rose to the top because someway, somehow the masses were drawn to it; but the films themselves could cast the check that all the hype wrote. Movies in this sphere include but are not limited to The Blair Witch Project; American Beauty, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Donnie Darko, Full Metal Jacket, Avatar, and Joker.

It's Halloween time. I remember being a kid and adults having a great fear of the supernatural.

The chiming of the old grandfather clock notifies us that it is the witching hour. Well, the witching hour for those who go to bed by 7:30. That gives everyone plenty enough time to listen to the recent episode of The Bricked Pit where Josh, Jason, and Adam finish up their horror themed episodes in honor of Halloween by talking about the super genre of the HORROR COMEDY!!!! Whoever brought the wolfman, could you please get him back on his leash. He's in the flowerbed again digging up Jason's prize begonias. 

I was on the case. There I was sitting in a dive bar because some big lug with a face that could sour milk was paying me 25 bucks a day plus expenses. I was searching. Not for a dame. No, that would have been too easy. Instead he wanted me to find him a podcast that talked about Film Noir. None of this would have been necessary had he just listened to The Bricked Pit. Unlike what Adam believes, the MacGuffin is not on the breakfast menu of a fast food restaurant. Nor is it a hastily made contraption made from rubber bands and chewing gum wrappers to get the hero out of sticky situation. The MacGuffin is that thing that provides the characters with the motivation needed to move the plot forward. The guys define and discuss some of the most famous and favorite MacGuffins from such films as Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade, The Maltese Falcon, D.O.A., and others.

That Adam, Josh, and Jason talk about movies dealing with automobiles like Christine, Baby Driver, and Death Race 2000.

The guys barely scratch the surface on this informative format of film. Things get a little nerdy (more so than usual) when some actual film history and theory gets injected into the conversation. The conclusion of the Remakes conversation. Now the guys get into the bad discussing the remakes that don't live up to the standards of the original. A line in the sand is drawn over what films should never be remade.
