| Fearless 2020 | 12 Dec 2020 | 01:46:49 | |
The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions.
N.B. This episode references sexual violence, bulimia and mental health issues. See below for helpful links.
TEDx Cumbernauld Women 2020 orchestrated by Maureen Hascoet took place on Sunday 22nd November. Due to Covid19 the event had to be streamed live on Facebook with many of the speakers pre-recording their talks and only a few speaking live from Ward Park Studios. Embracing the spirit of ‘ideas worth spreading’, I interviewed 5 of the amazing speakers and Maureen herself remotely about the event’s theme ‘Fearless’ and what it meant to be involved in this most uplifting and inspiring event.
Maureen Hascoet is an award winning filmmaker who recently moved to Scotland after 12 years in and around the film industry in London. Passionate about storytelling in all it’s forms, Maureen started TEDX Cumbernauld with the aim to elevate the local community to a global platform and encourage change.

| Airdrie & Coatbridge Amateur Operatic Society | 30 Nov 2020 | 01:00:38 | |
The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions.
Episode 127 is a little bit different.
For the past 11 years I have had the privilege and pleasure of working with Airdrie and Coatbridge Amateur Operatic Society choreographing productions such West Side Story, Singin’ in the Rain, Jesus Christ Superstar and Rock of Ages. They are an amazing club who have been treading the boards for over 100 years. They offer a welcoming, inclusive, supportive and fun space for people to unite and create theatre together, working closely with music, drama and dance specialists to create the most incredible shows. ACAOS’s 2020 production of Oklahoma ground to halt two days before opening night back in March and having already started to record an ‘opera week’ episode, I felt it was only right to continue talking to just some of the members, albeit remotely, to capture the magic of this wonderful club and why it has such a special place in the hearts of so many. From memorable moments onstage and off to time capsule treasures, find out what it’s like to be in Team ACAOS!

The Braw and The Brave is a podcast about people and their passions.
Episode 113 is in conversation with Composer and Musical Director Robert Scott. Not from a musical family, he persisted in his innate desire to play piano from a young age, going on to study at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama before heading to London to pursue a career in theatre. At the musical helm of some of the world’s most renowned and beloved productions, Robert, originally from Dalmellington, has travelled the globe with classics such as Singin In The Rain, White Christmas, Carousel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Funny Girl. In more recent years he and writing partner Brendan Cull (lyrics) have been creating the soundtrack to Sleepless a musical based on the blockbuster film Sleepless In Seattle which recently opened in London to a socially distanced audience. From accompanying actor friends in auditions in the early days to crafting Westend productions, Robert beautifully recounts the pinch-me moments and the ‘luck’ he attributes to the amazingly successful and varied career he has enjoyed thus far.
