WHAT began as a day of genuine excitement for the impending showdown between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn took a dark turn when a positive test for a banned substance emerged.

But the fight, it appears, will go ahead with or without the backing of the British Boxing Board of Control. A shambles to say the least. We do our best to explain the events of a miserable day.

This Week is far more cheerful fare as we remember the British heavyweight showdown between Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno.

ALEX STEEDMAN is in Ibiza and surviving on two hours sleep a day. That didn't stop him hosting this week's podcast. But even that herculean display of strength and stamina is nothing on Joe Joyce, who turned in the best performance of his career to stop Joseph Parker last weekend.

Alongside Matt Christie, the showing of Joyce is examined and the conclusions drawn suggest that 'The Juggernaut' is going to take some stopping, even if he crosses paths with Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua.

The latest victories of Maxi Hughes, Amanda Serrano and Terri Harper are also reviewed while one of the most bizarre endings to a fight - the 2002 clash between Ricky Hatton and Stephen Smith - is remembered in This Week.

A FEW days have passed since Oleksandr Usyk repeated his September 2021 victory over Anthony Joshua, again on points. There is plenty to consider, not least the performance of Usyk, the brilliance of which was lost somewhat when Joshua made his by now infamous post-fight address.
