The induction of a new aircraft is always an interesting phase in military aviation. Brig Sidhu was trained as one of the Army's first Experimental Test Pilots, and participated extensively in the flight test program for the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Dhruv and it's weaponized variant, the Rudra. He raised and commanded the Army's first ALH squadron, and the first Aviation Brigade. He also built and flew a Pushpak light aircraft all around the country to commemorate various milestones in Army Aviation's history. 

We launch "Helicopter Month" with an interview with Gp Capt Subhash Chander, who has over 26,000 hours flying helicopters in the Air Force and for Pawan Hans. Gp Capt Chander was the pilot who flew a Mi-17 dangerously close to dangling wires to help rescue 8 civilians who were stranded in a cable car at the Timber Trail resort, Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. He speaks of this, and other experiences in his long career as a military aviator and helicopter pilot.

In November 1988, Tamil Rebels from PLOTE of Sri Lanka, at the instigation of a Maldivian national, Abdulla Luthfee, attempted an armed coup to overthrow the legitimate government of that small island nation in the Indian Ocean. President Gayoom of the Maldives appealed to many regional and global powers, but it was India that responded swiftly and effectively.  This episode is part 2 of a miniseries featuring four gentlemen who were central to its planning and execution.
