The Latest on White Stadium
mercredi 26 février 2025 • Duration 37:29
Our second episode is all about the ever changing situation with White Stadium, a venue owned by the City of Boston that is facing public pushback, lawsuits and is becoming a wedge issue in the Boston Mayoral race as well. The issues all stem around the planned use of White Stadium by BOS Nation for its NWSL team which is set to have its first ever season in 2026.
Jackie Contreras is with us to get you caught up on everything, what Mayor Wu, challenger for Mayor, Josh Kraft, and everyone else thinks should or shouldn't be happening with the renovation of the aging stadium in Franklin Park.
We also get Jackie's timeline for completion, speculation on alternate venues if the stadium isn't ready on time and if we will get the most sought after name change in Boston sports history.
Here's a few recent articles on White Stadium from Jackie at The Blazing Musket:

Stadium Finance Deep Dive with Neil deMause
mercredi 12 mars 2025 • Duration 42:57
We welcomed Neil deMause this week to get a better understanding of the economics behind state and local money funding sports stadiums operated by privately owned teams. It's a topic worth diving into as the White Stadium development continues to be a big story in Massachusetts.
BOS Nation is set to move into White Stadium when they take the field in the NWSL in 2026 but not everyone is onboard with the use of a public stadium, taxpayers money and the missed opportunity costs spent to make it all happen.
Neil is the author of Field of Schemes and has daily updates about stadium construction on his site, FieldofSchemes.com.
He's heard and seen it all before and he joined us to break down why these deals happen so often when the benefit to the wider public just doesn't seem to materialize when these stadiums are up and running.
It was a great, wide ranging conversation, so be sure to give it a listen and keep up with BOS Nation and White Stadium with us at The Blazing Musket.
You can follow Neil over on BlueSky and Thomas is there as well!
