Episode 099: When One Chapter Ends, Another Begins
Episode 99
Tuesday, February 7, 2023 • Duration 15:06
I created this podcast three years ago to find and connect with other women interested in upland hunting and all things bird dogs. I was, and continue to be, eager to learn and be inspired. In the process, I've been listening and understanding what women want. My goals and mission are now focused on that; making opportunities available for like-minded women to connect and get started and involved more easily. In this closing episode, I share my gratitude for everyone who has inspired and supported me on this journey. Continue the journey with me and so many others over at HerUpland! HerUpland.com

It’s that time of year when many of us are planning out the amount of gamebirds for this dog training and testing season. Unless you raise and keep your own birds, chances are you’re at the mercy of the bird availability of your club or organization. If you have the time and space, rearing chicks on your own is a helpful option. April, a manager at MacFarlane Pheasants, walks us through the advantages of buying eggs vs chicks vs mature birds, as well as basic rearing and husbandy tips.

Episode 083: Gear and Gift Guide To Help Enhance Your Hunt
Episode 83
Tuesday, November 30, 2021 • Duration 02:00:04
It’s that time of year when we are all thinking about Christmas ideas and what would be nice to add to our gear list to enhance next year’s hunting season. Since 40% of the listeners of this podcast are men, I wanted to get some input from the guys. So I sit down with my husband William Bastian and our friend Jeff Quigley to discuss the hunting gear that we’ve put through the test for ourselves, our dogs, and truck setups that work for each of us. While it only takes a gun, comfy clothes, shoes, and preferably a dog to get out and hunt, we mention items that help make the hunting experience a bit more efficient.

Episode 82
Tuesday, November 23, 2021 • Duration 01:59:53
Katie Willis grew up big game hunting in Montana, then found herself in the wetlands and uplands with the addition of her first bird dog 13 years ago, a German Wirehaired Pointer, affectionately referred to as Bird Dog. BD was there by her side through undergrad and PA school, and during those long nights studying, Katie continued to remind Bird Dog of her promise to take him rooster hunting in North Dakota. A four week trip with a loyal best bird dog and two exuberant puppies, made some unforgettable memories for Katie and her crew.
