DEUTERONOMY THE BOOK OF OBEDIENCE TO GOD
Deuteronomy, The title means “second Law but it does not contain a second Law but is in fact a restatement and an explanation of the Law previously given. It is a book of remembrance and retrospect. A book which shows new hope being attained through spiritual experience aligned with obedience.
Author
The book itself indicates that Moses wrote it (Deut. 31:9).
Recipients
The events in the book of Deuteronomy i written to the "second” generation. A new generation had grown up and Moses therefore repeated and explained the law to the people of this new generation before they entered Canaan.
Message
The book of Deuteronomy is, much more than just a repetition of the law; it is also an exposition of what it means.
The covenant promise is the basis of Deuteronomy, but the relationship between God and his people within that covenant should be one of love. The sovereign love of God towards his people should been seen to produce a response of obedient love towards him.
Structure
First Sermon: The Historical Appeal for Obedience. (1:1-4:49)
Second Sermon: The Legal Basis for Obedience. (5:1-26:19)
Third Sermon: A Prophetical Exhortation for Obedience. (27:1-30:20)
Transitional Details. (31:1-34:12)
Joshua and Law. (31:1-30)
Song of Moses. (32:1-52)
Blessing of Moses. (33:1-29)
Death of Moses. (34:1-12)
Purpose
The purpose of Deuteronomy is for Moses to address Israel before he died and before they enter the land. He urges the people to obey the Lord saying If they do so, they will be blessed. If they do not, they will be cursed. He also needed to communicate the transitional arrangements involving Joshua before he died.
Summary:
Moses wrote Deuteronomy to remind Israel of what God has done and said and encourages them to obey God. Then he turns over the leadership to Joshua. God is seen to bless the obedient and disciplines the disobedient. Obedience is therefore always seen as a condition for blessing.

Setting the Scene (Numbers 9:1-3)
The Lord commands the Israelites to observe the Passover in the first month of the second year after leaving Egypt.
Specific instructions are given regarding the timing of the Passover observance.
Obedience and Compliance (Numbers 9:4-5)
The Israelites comply with the command to observe the Passover as instructed by Moses.
A Problem Arises (Numbers 9:6-8)
Some individuals are unable to observe the Passover due to ceremonial uncleanness from contact with a dead body.
They approach Moses seeking guidance on how to proceed.
Seeking Divine Guidance (Numbers 9:8-12)
Moses seeks guidance from the Lord regarding the situation.
The Lord provides a concession, allowing those who are unclean or on a journey to observe the Passover in the second month.
Consequences of Neglect (Numbers 9:13)
Those who are clean and not on a journey but fail to observe the Passover in the first month will be cut off from the community.
Inclusion of Foreigners (Numbers 9:14)
Foreigners residing among the Israelites are also to observe the Passover in accordance with its rules and regulations.

Today, we embark on a study looking at the ancient practice of the Nazarite vow, as detailed in Numbers chapter 6. This special dedication to the Lord offers us helpful insights into voluntary and temporary commitments made for the sake of spiritual devotion and service.
The Nazarite vow, originating from the Hebrew word "Nazer," meaning consecrated or devoted, involves a voluntary commitment to set oneself apart for God's service. It's a deliberate choice to do something extraordinary for the Lord, often for a specific period.
In Numbers 6:1-21, we encounter the details of this vow, from its requirements to its rituals for conclusion. Participants in the Nazarite vow undertake three key commitments: abstaining from wine and anything produced by the grapevine, refraining from cutting their hair, and avoiding contact with dead bodies.
As we explore these verses, we'll delve into the spiritual significance behind each requirement and uncover timeless principles that resonate with our journey of faith today.
The prohibition against wine symbolizes a separation unto the Lord, demonstrating a commitment to holiness and righteousness. While the vow may seem strict, it serves as a tangible expression of devotion and dedication to God's service.
Additionally, the requirement to refrain from cutting one's hair and avoiding contact with dead bodies emphasizes the Nazarite's consecration and separation unto the Lord. These actions signify a willingness to set aside personal desires and comforts for the sake of spiritual devotion.
Furthermore, the rituals for concluding the vow underscore the seriousness of the commitment and the importance of maintaining purity and dedication to the Lord. The offerings and sacrifices presented symbolize atonement for sins and complete surrender to God's will.
In applying these principles to our lives today, we recognize the value of voluntary and temporary commitments made for the sake of spiritual growth and service. While we're not bound by the Mosaic law, we have the freedom to dedicate ourselves to God in unique and meaningful ways.
Whether it's setting aside time for prayer and fasting, volunteering for a mission trip, or dedicating resources to support ministry work, we can all do something extra for God, just as the Nazarites did in ancient times.

In todays episode, we consider the spiritual significance behind the instructions outlined in Numbers 5:1-31, where we are called to maintain purity and holiness in our lives and communities.
Just as we tend to the cleanliness of our homes, ensuring they are free from clutter and impurities, so too are we called to keep the temple of our hearts pure and undefiled. In Numbers 5, we find instructions given to the Israelites on how to maintain the sanctity of their camp and address matters of defilement.
This passage should prompt us to consider the importance of addressing sin and impurity in our lives, not merely on a surface level but with a deep commitment to holiness and righteousness. As followers of Christ, we are called to pursue purity in thought, word, and deed, safeguarding our hearts against the influences of sin and corruption.
Throughout the Bible, we encounter numerous exhortations to pursue holiness and purity of heart. His desire to present her to Himself "without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless."

Life is often likened to a journey—a journey filled with twists, turns, and unexpected detours. And just as travelers meticulously prepare for their journeys, so too must we prepare ourselves for the road ahead, with God as our faithful guide.
Throughout the Scriptures, we encounter numerous accounts of individuals who embarked on remarkable journeys of faith, each requiring careful preparation and unwavering trust in God's providence. Whether it was Noah building the ark, Abraham journeying to a land unknown, or Moses leading the Israelites through the wilderness, these stories remind us of the importance of readiness and reliance on God's guidance.
In Numbers 4:1-49, we witness the meticulous preparations made by the Levites as they were entrusted with the sacred task of transporting the tabernacle and its furnishings. Their attention to detail, their reverence for God's sanctuary, and their obedience to His commands serve as a reminder of the significance of preparation in our own spiritual life and communities.

One of life's inevitable tasks is finding where you fit in the world.. That feeling, I believe, is acutely felt especially as you transition from youth to adulthood. This can apply not only to choosing a career path but also to understanding your spiritual role. Every believer has a place in the Lord's work, but where do you belong? What is your function in the body of Christ?"
In this episode we will be looking at the Book of Numbers, particularly chapters 3, which focuses on the tribe of Levi. While the book so far has been filled with various numerical data, our focus today shifts to understanding the service of the Levites. In the previous chapters, the Levites were omitted from the census, but now, their role comes to the forefront. Initially, God claimed the firstborn of every family for His service, but now, He designates a portion of a tribe, the tribe of Levi instead. This change marks a pivotal moment in the organization of priestly duties among one tribe of Israel. Within the tribe of Levi, we find there are three prominent families: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Understanding these names is key to understanding the Levites' service, so let's explore their roles in the broader context of the Lord's work."
Just as Nadab and Abihu faced consequences for their disobedience, we too must heed God's commands and approach His service with humility and reverence. So, whether you're carrying boards through the desert or washing dishes after a church event, do it with cheerfulness. Sure, it may get tiring at times, but remember the importance of serving the Lord in even the smallest tasks. That's where true ministry lies.
Finding your place in God's service isn't always easy, but with faith and humility, you can discover where you fit in His divine plan."

Today first episode in the book of Numbers is an analysis and reflection on Numbers 1:1-54 and its implications for our spiritual journey. First placing the passage within it's historical context, and application to contemporary life are hopefully insightful and thought-provoking.
There is a parallel to be drawn between the ancient census of Israel and our ongoing spiritual battle against the world, the flesh, and Satan.
This Old Testament passage can still provide valuable guidance for navigating the challenges of our faith journey.
Overall, the message encourages us to remain vigilant, steadfast, and reliant on God's strength as we strive to live out our faith in the midst of spiritual opposition.

"The Heavens Declare the glory of the Lord" (Psalm 19: 1)
A 80 minute electronic journey telling the story of the race to the Moon.
In July 2019 I presented a special two night event in the amazing space of St Annes Baptist Church in Lancashire. This was a special event to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the moon landing.
Both events used 100's of samples of recently released NASA recordings which had been placed in the public domain by NASA to celebrate these landmark events.
Commencing with the 1961 announcement of John F Kennedy's goal to put a man on the moon within the next decade. To the completion of that amazing journey by the NASA and the crew of Apollo 11 in 1969.
This project as well as focusing on the amazing scientific achievement of the all involved in this epic undertaking but also focuses on the spiritual experience of many of the astronauts involved.
These live events placed these recordings within my own electronic music and soundscapes and were accompanied by bible reading and contemporary Christian worship music and samples using the Ising worship software .
I have now remastered these recording used from those two 120 minute concerts/events into 90 minutes of original music. I have also kept and used the public domain NASA and news media material when creating the original 2CD Set. Realesed under my artist name.
All electronic samples used are either my own manipulated found sounds and field recordings, alongside loops purchased from the Loopmasters catalogue.

Introduction: When people hear the name Jesus, what comes to mind? On a popular level, at best many people just think of him as a wise teacher, perhaps even a good man. However, for those who truly know him, he is not merely a teacher but our saviour. Moreover, if you consider deeper, you can recognize him as a returning king. Thus, the most general way for Christians to think about Christ is as a great teacher, a wonderful saviour, and a future king. Yet, amidst these roles, one crucial aspect often gets overlooked: Jesus Christ was also a prophet.
In this episode, we delve into Luke's account of the Olivet Discourse in Luke chapter 21, focusing on Jesus's prophecy regarding the destruction of the temple and the signs of the end times. We explore the significance of Jesus's words and their relevance for believers both then and now.
The Prophecy of the Temple's Destruction (Luke 21: 5-7): Jesus predicts the destruction of the temple, prompting the disciples to inquire about the timing of these events.
Signs and Instructions (Luke 21: 8-24): Jesus provides a series of commands and warnings, urging his followers to remain faithful amidst persecution and to flee when Jerusalem is surrounded by armies.
The Coming of the Son of Man (Luke 21: 25-28): Jesus describes the signs preceding his second coming, emphasizing the importance of readiness and vigilance.

As you know, there are four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The first three, often called the synoptic Gospels, share similar content, while John's Gospel focuses more on Jesus' ministry in Jerusalem. While Matthew, Mark, and Luke mainly detail Jesus' ministry in Galilee, they all culminate with His journey to Jerusalem, where His trials, crucifixion, and resurrection take place.
In Luke's Gospel, Jesus' journey to Jerusalem is a recurring theme, emphasizing its significance in His ministry. This journey finally reaches its destination in chapter 19.
Starting in verse 28, Jesus is depicted on the Mount of Olives, preparing to enter Jerusalem. This journey symbolizes His role as the Messiah and King. He sends two disciples ahead to fetch a colt, displaying supernatural knowledge by instructing them on where to find it and what to say. This act fulfils Old Testament prophecies regarding the Messiah's entry into Jerusalem. The disciples find the colt just as Jesus predicted, showcasing the reliability of His instructions. The owners willingly provide the colt, recognizing Jesus' authority.
As Jesus enters Jerusalem, the crowd greets Him with joy and praise, hailing Him as the King who brings peace. However, the Pharisees disapprove, prompting Jesus to rebuke them. Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, lamenting its failure to recognize Him as the source of peace. He prophesies its impending destruction due to this rejection. This event, known as the triumphal entry or Palm Sunday, highlights Jesus' identity as the Prince of Peace. The contrast between the crowd's praise and the Pharisees' rejection underscores the significance of recognizing Jesus' role as Messiah.
