Employee Stock Ownership Plans with Jeremy Huish30 Jul 202400:41:55

In this episode of the Better Leadership team Show, I chat with Jeremy Huish, VP at Corporate Transition Consulting, about the benefits of Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs). Jeremy shares his journey from tax attorney to ESOP advocate, explaining how ESOPs benefit business owners, companies, and employees.

Jeremy Huish started his career as a tax attorney.  After years of being an attorney and consulting, Jeremy realized that the largest transaction his clients will ever do is to sell their business, and the largest tax bill that these clients face is the tax bill on that business sale.  He then fell in love with Employee Stock Ownership Plans, also known as ESOPs, because that transaction benefits the owner, the company, and all the rest of the employees who never had a chance to own a business.

Targets, KPIs, Priorities…I’m Confused!18 Jun 202400:31:13

On this Mike on the Mic episode, I’ll be breaking down the chaos of distinguishing the differences between targets, KPIs, and priorities. I explore how vague terminology often leads to confusion within teams, especially leadership teams, impacting overall organizational clarity. I’ll help tackle the pitfalls of using amorphous language when discussing plans and goals. Many companies fall into the trap of using ambiguous terms like "goals" without a shared understanding of what those goals entail—whether they're specific targets or broader initiatives like implementing a new system. Using a recent client experience as a case study, we delve into the necessity of incorporating specific actions into plans, not just numbers. Discover why a comprehensive plan should outline not only financial targets but also the actionable steps required to achieve them.

The Antidote to Anger24 Oct 202300:19:14

On this Mike on the Mic Episode, things are going to get a little different. If you've been following the previous episodes, you know I've talked extensively about the importance of believing in the positive intent of others. I've even coined it "The Law of Positive Intent." We discussed this concept in episodes like "Mastering Your Focus" and "Having Difficult Conversations." But Rather than just hearing me talk about it, I'm going to share a TEDx talk that I did on the same subject.

Back in January 2023, I had the honor of being on the stage at TEDx Gainesville, where I delivered a talk called "The Antidote to Anger." In this talk, I delve deeper into the Law of Positive Intent and how it can help us navigate anger and conflict in our daily lives.

Anger is something we all experience, and if we handle it poorly, it can damage our relationships, both personal and professional. That's why I want to share this talk with you. I want you to pay close attention to a specific question that I pose towards the end. It might just be the key to transforming how you approach anger in your own life.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy this thought-provoking TEDx talk on The Antidote to Anger. I hope it resonates with you and provides you with valuable insights on how to harness the power of positive intent.
