The Mawtribes rumble into view in our latest episode, overly eager to bite, smash, and throw their weight around. Largely sorted into the Gutbuster, Beastclaw, or Mawseeker lives, our big burly friends are more than happy to make your acquaintance.

War returns to the realm of fire, and the bad moon follows in its wake!

With the latest edition of AoS's seasonal rules we're here to talk shop on all the spicy new lore snippets that come with. Fury and calm go hand in hand through our discussion of Order and Death grand alliances.

Little ocean critters, contagious depression, very specific legal references and hats made of bones! All this and more in Episode 40: Scourge of Aqshy, Part 1

Episode 39: Sylvaneth, Part 209 Jul 202601:53:03

The branches part, the bushes rustle, and emerging into the light of day are glades and faces!

Following our general discussion of our arboreal friends, today's episode delves into the specifics of Sylvaneth glades and notable characters. From the passionate youth of Harvestboon to the dour slopes of Winterleaf, we've got them all!

Hunt god rites, wise old trees, romantasy pitches and Mother? All this and more in Episode 39: Sylvaneth Part 2.

Note: As some of you have already noticed, we're on other platforms now! All credit to Darien for getting the RSS pushed to other platforms. So if you know friends or family who would like us but haven't been into spotify, definitely point them to our other platforms!!

Episode 38: Sylvaneth, Part 125 Jun 202601:12:47

Take a deep breath, feel the crisp chill of the forest air, press your toes into the soil, and know that you are in the domain of Ghyran's own stalwart protectors. Sylvaneth sprout in the orbit this week, and they're bringing music!

Hiding a surprisingly alien mind beneath those bark-covered exteriors, the children of Alarielle are as diverse as they are committed to their noble cause.

Bonus: Bugman's Brewery Travelogue!28 May 202601:13:14

A bit of a departure today as we share some deets from Darien's recent vaycay to the land of James Workshop! Nagash will have to wait, we've got dwarf beer to discuss!

One part Warhammer World log, one part lore regarding everyone's favorite old world brewmaster, we hope y'all enjoy this (slightly shorter, less focused) episode while we gear back up to our normal scheduled releases!

Tri-meat burgers, huge two-story displays, goblin raids, and more discussion of Arendelle than you'd expect. All this and more in Bonus: Bugman's Brewery Travelogue!

Note: If you're not familiar, we have an instagram were we often post visual accompaniment for our episodes. This one specifically is going to be chock full of Darien's travel photos so I highly recommend it as a companion to this ep!

Episode 36: Ossiarch Bonereapers, Pt114 May 202601:26:41

Spooky Scary Skeletons arrive in your podcasting device this week, and they want your bones!

The myriad Ossiarch legions march forth to gather the tithe, just one step in the all-important plan to erect Nagash's glorious Necrotopia! But simple mindless puppets won't do for the god of death's ultimate scheme, so through art and culture the horrible machinery of death grinds ever forward.

Skeleton taxes, bone chess, Yossification, and all the horrifying implications of systems. All this and more in Episode 36: Ossiarch Bonereapers, Part 1!

Bonus: Just This Once, A 40k Podcast!30 Apr 202602:00:58

We issued the challenge and y'all delivered!

Having surpassed 40,000 total downloads (actually about 55,000 at time of upload, nothing but thanks to all of you) our long-teased 40k episode has arrived! Darien takes the helm on research for this one and we've got just the thinnest possible sampler platter for y'all to enjoy.

Psychic Lizards, Killer Clowns, Three out of Four Chaos Gods Emerging on Earth?!?!? and Lots and Lots of Terrible Monsters. All this and more in our first Bonus episode, Just This Once, A 40k Podcast!

Once again thank you all so much for your listenership, never in our wildest dreams did we think we'd ever reach so many people when we started. Cheers to you all!

(Disclaimers: We crammed all of 40k into one episode so there's going to be lots wrong. We also squeezed the recording on this one in late at night so we're a bit scattered. We tried to have fun with it, so I hope y'all can enjoy a lighter, sillier episode.)

Episode 35: Cities of Sigmar, Part 316 Apr 202601:38:41

The thrilling conclusion to our three-part exploration of humanity's bastions against chaos, in this episode we profile the famous faces of Cities (as well as cover the new stuff we saw at Adepticon!)

From brand new mages at the top of their class to the oldest possible priests, the big names of Cities have these two podcast hosts eager for more.

Wizard spires, reeducation crystals, Dalton correcting himself on how Hammerhal is said at the beginning of the episode and proceeding to say it wrong every subsequent time anyways, all this and much more in Episode 24: Cities of Sigmar, Part 2!

--Programing Note: Our next episode about famous faces will also be including a discussion of the new stuff revealed at Adepticon! So if you're excited to learn about cogforts, valiants, or grenadiers be sure not to miss it!--

Episode 33: Cities of Sigmar, Part 119 Mar 202601:27:22

It's finally time!

Dawn breaks on the horizon as the new bulwark of civilization makes its mark. The Cities of Sigmar are thin points of light in the darkness, rivets in the wall separating chaos from the world.

The first of 3 (!) episodes, this one delves into the broad strokes of Cities structure, history, and organization.

The history of founding cities, military recruitment politics, a lot of geeking out over manuscript illustration creatures, and hints at what's to come. All this and more in Episode 33: Cities of Sigmar, Part 1!

Episode 32: Darkwater05 Mar 202601:29:00

Content Warning: This episode features the forces of Nurgle in all their grossness. Descriptions of disease, body horror, and physical malady come with that. Listener discretion advised.

Something a little bit different this week as Darien and Dalton delve into the dangers of Darkwater!

A once-shining example of collaboration between gods, the Jade Abbey now persists as a ruin of what it once was. Creatures most foul stalk the halls as fallen priest Gelgus Pust returns to fulfill his obligation to the god of plagues.

Arrogant knights, ancient defenders, horrid and disgusting foes, and Dalton getting clocked on his character preferences at a hundred yards. All this and more in Episode 32: Darkwater!

Episode 31: Lumineth, Part 219 Feb 202601:58:33

From the towering mountain peaks of Ymetrica to the windswept deserts of Helon, the Lumineth have adapted to their new philosophy with a wealth of different approaches. For every skilled craftsman there's a daring adventurer in the new society they've built, and in this episode we take a look at them all!

Elf Olympics, the dangers of cloning, very depressed generals, and the moral and philosophical benefits of being hit with a brick. All this and more in Episode 31: Lumineth, Part 2!

Episode 30: Lumineth, Part 105 Feb 202601:28:28

What is that peeking through the morning light glinting off of Hysh? Why its a new episode of the Bad Moon's Orbit!

Back from our holiday hiatus, we're diving deep into the true Children of Teclis this episode and exploring what's become of them since the devastation of the spirefall. Arrogance meets attonement as our aelf friends try and shift perspective, and we see just how many forms the spirits of hysh can take.

Bulls of the Mountain, Great Elemental Temples, more talk about Philadelphia than anyone was expecting, and symmetry in all things. All this and more in Episode 30, Lumineth Part 1

Episode 29: Kruleboyz20 Nov 202501:38:35

Is that a rustle in the reeds I hear? Strange eyes gleaming between mangrove trees or vast, ghastly faces draped in shadow? What kind of Krule monsters could lurk where society dare not tread?

Orruks! That's who! This week we're talking Kruleboyz, the sneaky, creepy alternative to our Ironjawz brawlers. Where Ironjawz want the fight, Kruleboyz want the win; and if that means poisoning the town water supply so be it.

Poisoned blades, expanding swamps, parasite worship and lungs full of swamp water. All this and more in Episode 29: Kruleboyz!

UPDATE: Holiday's crept up on us a bit, so this is the last episode before our planned hiatus! We'll be back with Lumineth on Feb 5. For more details check our Instagram. Thank y'all for listening!

Episode 28: Flesh Eater Courts06 Nov 202501:40:51

Hark, noble peasants of these mortal realms. True nobility visits itself upon thee with fang and claw and leathered wing.

The Flesh Eater Courts, caught wholly in the tapestry of the grand delusion, have arrived to bring a sense of noble flair to our humble podcast this eve. Ravenous ghouls and their monstrous vampiric overlords stalk the realms with all the ceremony and grace of one who imagines themselves divine, even as they desecrate and devour those hapless enough to catch their gaze.

Noble courts, blood-stained maws, Jumanji jumpscares, and intestine wigs. All this and more in Episode 28: Flesh Eater Courts.

Episode 27: Helsmiths of Hashut (Part 2)23 Oct 202502:05:35

This week we continue our discussion of AoS's newest faction with a more in depth look at the Helsmith's army, great cultural centers, and sole (for now) named character!

As the True Inheritors of the Khazalid Empire (according to them) the Helsmiths have many interpretations of what that might mean. From being the biggest, the most devout, or just the most "still living where the empire was," many flavors of legitimacy vie for dominance within the twisted Zharrdron mind.

Ancient bull temples, hollowed out volcanos, ash-choked Rome and Howl's Moving Ziggurat; all this and more in Episode 27: Helsmiths of Hashut (Part 2).

Episode 26: Helsmiths of Hashut (Part 1)09 Oct 202501:47:06

Smog and Fire; Power and Control; Complete, Unquestioning Domination of all that is and ever will be. These are the domains of Holy Hashut.

And no self respecting Helsmith would be content with only a single episode!

In this first offering at the cinder-stoked shrine of the god of tyranny we talk about the Helsmith's history, their governing philosophy, and most importantly their great and terrible deity. Join us as we walk through the power that unreliable narration can have, the propaganda inherent in controlling ideologies, and lots and lots of cool byzantine aesthetic.

Daemonbound weapons, Unholy Ziggurats, a unexpectedly deep dive into evaluating a text based on it's purpose for existing! All this and more in Episode 26: The Helsmiths of Hashut (Part 1!)

Episode 25: Nighthaunt25 Sep 202501:57:33

G-g-g-g-g-ghosts!? That's right dear listeners: Ghosts! Specifically the unhallowed dead who haunt the realms in Nagash's service.

These spooky specters are more than just their unfinished business however. In a grim perversion of divine purpose, the Nighthaunt exist as a genuine (albeit deeply flawed) attempt by the God of Death to act as a god should, dispensing punishment for crimes perceived. Just a shame that the person deciding what counts as a crime is Nagash.

Ghosts and spirits, religious knowledge, more discussion of cereal than you're probably expecting, and karmic (for a given definition of karma) punishment. All this and more in Episode 25: Nighthaunt

Episode 24: Ironjawz11 Sep 202502:14:54

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!

Orruks barge back into the Bad Moon's recording studio this week as we talk big and tuff about our Gorky friends the Ironjawz. The true pinnacle of orruky smash and grab, as with Khorne there's lots to be said about these relatively simple seeming boyz that give them a real interesting bevel.

Big Pigs, Orruk force ghosts, Finally talking about Kragnos, and Da Fist of Gork! All this and more in Episode 24: Ironjawz!

Episode 23: Soulblight Gravelords28 Aug 202502:10:46

Heed then, the splendor of the vampiric dynasties of the Midnight Aristocracy. Wherever mortals gather know that you are watched, you are hunted, you are lesser.

Pure Halloween vibes abound in this episode as we explore the myriad unholy bloodlines of the Soulblight Gravelords. From the prestigious and noble Nulahmians to the wild and untamable Vyrkos, all manner of spooky blood-drinkers await.

Vampiric Egyptians, crazy younger brothers, Baba Yaga-alikes, and bat ladies who can slay. All this and more in Episode 23: Soulblight Gravelords.

Episode 22: Gloomspite Gitz (Part 2)14 Aug 202501:37:17

If skulking Moonclan, skittering Spiderfang, and bounding squigs weren't enough for you, then rejoice! We return this week to wrap up our discussion of Gitz with lumbering troggoths and wily Gitmob!

From the dank depths to the light of Hysh, our last few supergroups of gitz menace the realms beneath bad moon light with the best of them, and our famous faces are here as well to add a bit of character to our fungal friends.

Monstrous eevees, venomous wolves, unreasonably successful hucksters, and more in Episode 22: Gloomspite Gitz (Part 2)!

Episode 21: Gloomspite Gitz (Part 1)31 Jul 202501:34:24

This horde of gobbi blackcaps is too vast to cram into a single episode! That's right, it's our first Two Parter!!

And what an episode it is. The Bad Moon leers bright over the mortal realms and our namesake finally arrives in your podcasting device to thunderous, grotly, applause. The Gloomspite Gitz are lurking in every corner and dank crevice, just waiting to steal your gubbins or bring about terrible portents of mushroom doom!!!

Goblin shamans, hordes of squigs, fungus among us, horrifying portents of future doom! All this and more in Episode 21: Gloomspite Gitz (Part 1).

Episode 20: Be'lakor17 Jul 202502:19:26

The Shadow in the Earth, the First Prince of Chaos, the First Everchosen, these titles and many more adorn the legacy of Be'lakor first and (by his account) greatest of all daemon princes of chaos.

A character with a long and illustrious history, this episode we follow Be'lakor through his time in the old world into his devious and devilish plots in the Mortal Realms.

Ancient wars, dwarf grudges come to bear, chaos warriors and cursed skies. All this and more in Episode 20: Be'lakor!

Episode 19: Seraphon03 Jul 202501:06:21

WE'RE BACK! (A Dinosaur Story)

That's right Bad Moonatics! (Orbiteers?) after our impromptu hiatus (take care of your backs y'all) we're so excited to be back to offer you more tantalizing tales of the Mortal Realms!

And what Tails (/s) they are! From the depths of the aetheric void great lumbering creatures of scale and starlight emerge to safeguard this world from the powers of chaos. Their mastery of the arcane is unmatched, but even creatures of the stars crave the comforts of home.

Temple Ships, Jungle Terraforming, Lizard Creepypasta, and DINOSAURS RIDING DINOSAURS WITH LAZERBEAMS ON THEIR HEADS! All that and more in Episode 19: Seraphon.

Episode 18: Idoneth Deepkin06 Mar 202501:41:58

Down where it's wetter, down where it's... better?

That's right this episode we return to Grand Alliance: Order to talk about another group of morally questionable elves, the Idoneth Deepkin. Cursed souls requiring constant raids to sustain themselves, these subaquatic children of Teclis are packed to the gills with political intrigue, structural critique, and ... well ... fish.

Deep sea creatures, castes and their pressures, a lot of talk about Marvel Rivals for some reason, and seeing eye octopi! All this and more in Episode 18: Idoneth Deepkin.

Errata: Shoutout to listener adussault for bringing it to our attention that Anvilguard is infact not on Ulgu but rather on Aqshy. Big egg on my face for that one!

Episode 17: Morathi-Khaine, The Goddess of Murder20 Feb 202501:43:35

From the shadows she has arisen to claim a godhood that is rightfully hers.

Morathi, long denied the power of godhood even as her elven counterparts took on powerful roles in this new world, concocts a plan to seize the mantle. This has been a long time coming, and before anything the Shadow Queen is a schemer extraordinaire.

Rituals of blood, deals in the darkness, chained gods and Grand. Bloody. Apotheosis. All this and more in Episode 17: Morathi-Khaine.

Episode 16: Stormcast and the Age of Sigmar06 Feb 202502:26:04

Descending on bolts of lightning from Sigmar's own hand, the Stormcast Eternals have arrived.

Reforged from the souls of those who gave all in the fight against chaos, the arrival of Sigmar's lightning-bound warriors heralds the end of chaos's uncontested claim to the Mortal realms. By hammer and thunder they strike out to reclaim what was lost, but no great victory can come without a price.

Eternal life, great sacrifice, lost souls and doctors who make Dalton cry. All this and more in Episode 16: Stormcast and the Age of Sigmar!

Episode 15: The Everchosen23 Jan 202501:35:26

The board is assembled, the pieces are in place, the Age of Chaos crests the horizon, and Archaon, The Everchosen of Chaos, Grand Marshal of the Apocalypse, is here to claim a victory that is rightfully his.

Sigmar quests outward, campaigning across each of the realms in turn to rally his allies to this final battle. From Ghyran to Chamon he strikes blows against Chaos forces, and when the armies of ruin descend as one on Aqshy, Order is there to meet them.

Khorne, Nurgle, Tzeentch, and Slaanesh. Archaon and his knights. The End of the World Once More. All this and more in Episode 15: The Everchosen.

Episode 14: Skaven09 Jan 202501:44:34

Skaven gnaw at the roots of reality, and bring untold ruin in their wake.

The era of the rat is upon us as Skaven burrow their way into the Mortal realms. Their malicious god the Great Horned Rat leads them to spread terror, disease, and ... well ... Rats throughout every nook and cranny of existence. The Fifth amongst Four is never idle, and his mortal followers give him a distinct advantage in bending the world to his will. Afterall, there are Always. More. Rats.

Seething masses, ninja turtle knockoffs, deeply troubling mad science, and more in Episode 14, Skaven.

Episode 13: Slaanesh, the God of Excess26 Dec 202401:44:55

|| Content warning for this episode for sexual themes, discussion of sensitive topics such as historical homophobia, and brief mentions of cannibalism. ||

What better way to celebrate the god of excess than by posting our longest episode yet! Glory to Slaanesh!

That's right, while the god themselves is chained up between Ulgu and Hysh still, actions amongst the Lumineth threaten to pull daemons of excess from their place of confusion in the realm of chaos. Slaanesh's daemons have felt the loss of their god, acting increasingly erratic as they go without Slaanesh's presence. And while the Lumineth might tell themselves that their pursuit of perfection is for the world's protection... is perfection not a form of excess?

Magical WMDs, Elven pride, Smelly singing daemons, everything turning into crabs, and all the queer coding discussion you've come to expect from these hosts! All that and more in Episode 13: Slaanesh.

Episode 12: Nurgle, the God of Plague12 Dec 202401:19:33

Big Content Warning for this one: Disease, body horror, descriptions of debilitation and illness.

Pustules, Buboes, and everything nasty, the god of plagues has made his appearance in the Mortal Realms right on cue.

Deep within the wild places of Ghyran life flourishes, and while Alarielle seeks to foster life in all it's forms, some of those forms are bacterial and infectious and shepherd in something altogether unpleasant in their wake. Nurgle is the god of disease and stagnation, and what is more stagnant that a whole realm that struggles to draw a single shaking breath.

Pus-filled abscesses, desperate cries for relief, jolly disgusting musicians and Dalton airing his grievances with a Spider-Man comic that came out months ago. All that and more in Episode 12: Nurgle.

Episode 11: Tzeentch, The God of Change28 Nov 202401:16:21

Today's episode is about Tzeentch... OR IS IT!?

That's right, the grand changer of ways has finally made his appearance in the mortal realms, drawn in by the ambitions of mortals and the schemes of daemons. Step aside Teclis, the True God of Magic is here to wrap the realms in dancing flames.

Screaming bedsheets, Seusian amalgamations, birds who know you're not getting along with your wife right now, and more in Episode 11: Tzeentch.

PS: We're still looking for names for our game-mechanic-stuff-we-like section at the top of episodes. If you have suggestions please drop us a comment!

Episode 10: Khorne, the God of Violence14 Nov 202401:24:23

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL... Thrown?

As chaos makes its push into the realms its arrival is marked with great fanfare and bloodshed. The god of violence cares not from whence the blood flows, only that it does, and today we'll be following one man who's desire to protect and preserve lead him down a path toward annihilation.

Blood, skulls, daemonic incursions, Valkyrie warriors and the gender politics of the 80s (yes really), all that and more in Episode 10: Khorne

Episode 9: From Myth to Chaos31 Oct 202401:20:06

The veil thins, evil lurks in the corners of the world as temptation tugs at the hearts of mortals, for uncountable ages the realms have known a fragile peace...

But nothing good can last.

Chaos does not shout, it whispers, and now it whispers into the ears of the mighty and bountiful and tempts them with even more. Five chaos gods claw their way into a world ripe for conquest; and at their head an enemy whose hatred for Sigmar knows no bounds.

Good times! Bad times! Blood, Change, Excess and Plague! Rats beyond counting and a man who is very familiar with the annihilation of worlds. All this and more in Episode 9: From Myth to Chaos

Episode 8: Shyish, The Realm of Death17 Oct 202401:05:37

Of all the allies and old faces Sigmar has encountered so far, none have given him quite as much pause as this one.

In the sterile and dour land of death mortals and spirits eke out a meagre existence together. The afterlives of the mortal realms play out here in harmony, but an ancient presence lurks in waiting, always hungry for his opportunity to grasp the power he considers rightfully his own.

Ghostly cities, Troggoth afterlives, Ancient Egyptian Vampires, and above all the Uncontested, Unchallenged, Supreme God of Death. All that and more in Shyish, the Realm of Death!

Episode 7: Ghyran, the Realm of Life03 Oct 202400:54:32

Fresh air and the hum of insects abound as we leave the dour shores of Ulgu and arrive in the bountiful realm of life! The foil to Ghur's animalistic, might-makes-right attitude, Ghyran finds synergy in all things... including its new goddess.

Slightly more aelf politics, a familial revelation, and trees that can kill you but in a slightly! different! way! All that and more in Ghyran, the Realm of Life.

Episode 6: Ulgu, the Realm of Shadow19 Sep 202401:03:14

Aelf fans in the audience are in for a treat! While Hysh's twin gods of light are busy establishing themselves, something more sinister lurks in the sister realm of shadows.

But Ulgu does not give it's secrets to just anyone. And while Sigmar finds and allies with it's inhabitants, he is not privy to all that befalls its new resident god.

Intrigue! Schemes! More Aelf Politics! Ulgu offers a tempting hand, may you be brave enough to take it.

Episode 5: Hysh, the Realm of Light05 Sep 202400:52:26

With the Great Green God on his side, Sigmar travels next to the esoteric and mystical realm of light.

He has suspicions of who he'll find, elven gods of murder or rule... maybe even an old friend if he's lucky, but who actually greets him there is the last person he'd have ever guessed.

Realm puzzles, elf politics, old friends and old grudges. Many things will be revealed in the light of Hysh!

Episode 4: Ghur, The Realm of Beasts22 Aug 202401:23:51

Something stirs in the underbrush, a wolf's howl fills the air, the realm of Beasts is no place for the faint of heart!

We return to Sigmar and his journey to gather allies as he finds himself in the constantly shifting and always dangerous realm of Ghur. Massive monsters lurk around every corner in this plane, and among them Sigmar hopes to make a powerful green ally.

Living continents, primal magics, orruks and ogors! Welcome, to Ghur.

Episode 3: Aqshy, the Realm of Fire08 Aug 202400:34:50

We leave Sigmar's journey for a bit to follow the Slayer God Grimnir on his quest to repay his debt. Passion runs hot in the realm of fire, and even this herculean figure will have his work cut out for him in repaying his oath. Dragons! Beer! Lava cats! The Realm of Fire is many things but it's rarely boring.

Episode 2: Chamon, the Realm of Metal25 Jul 202400:44:23

Surprise!

The promise of orcs and goblins from last episode will have to rain check because Dalton got his timeline wrong, but while we can't offer you green we can offer you short and sturdy!

Ancestor gods, shifting landscapes, great betrayals? All of these and more on the Realm of Metal!

Episode 0: The World That Was11 Jul 202401:07:37

Everything has to start somewhere, and this podcast started with an under-researched dive into the precursor setting to Age of Sigmar (whoops!)

While this exploration of the world of Warhammer fantasy wasn't in our plans, but if you are looking for a primer on the old world before we start talking about the new one, it will certainly suffice!

Episode 1: Azyr11 Jul 202400:32:37

Our walking tour of the mortal realms begins with the cradle of civilization (at least according to Sigmar).

Bird dogs, tyrannical giants, and a dragon bff? It's more likely than you might think!

The Bad Moon's Orbit: Trailer07 Jul 202400:01:02
