We talk Pags, Rags and Bye Bye (you'll have to listen to get it).

Pags talks about Tony Gwynn, Jack Clark, Brooks Robinson and even taking notes on hitting from Ted Williams, along with his incredible teammates.

We ask Pags which of his kids are the better athlete- his son or his daughter.

Pags relives the 1991 World Series winning Minnesota Twins team including (what's called) Game 7, which pitted Jack Morris against John Smoltz, which many regard as the best World Series Game 7 ever.

It's baseball (and golf) from the inside, as Pags shares a lot of great stories that can only come from a man who is truly passionate about the game.  This is a must-listen episode, presented by Fan Duel, America's #1 sportsbook.

His real name is Tamerlane Fizel Kennedy. How did he become Lincoln? Love this story.

He's a 2x All Pro, a 3x Pro Bowler and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. They're all a part of what makes Lincoln Kennedy. But only a part.

Lincoln gives us 2 words to describe his former coach, Jon Gruden. (you have to hear this)

What's it like to do a radio broadcast of a NASCAR event when you're used to doing football? His answer will leave you laughing hysterically.

I'm sorry, how many link sausages did you eat to be on Shultz's Wall of Fame and more importantly...why?? A story you MUST hear!

So, light up a cigar, grab a brown beverage and have a listen to one of the most entertaining episodes of The Approach Shot we can remember, presented by Fan Duel, America's #1 Sportsbook.

Only 4 players in the HISTORY of the NFL have recorded 3 100-yard efforts in their first 6 games:

Julio Jones in 2012, Amari Cooper in 2015, and Justin Jefferson in 2020 were three of them.  The first to ever do it was BYRON WILLIAMS, our guest on this episode of The Approach Shot.

We stun Byron with the fact that 78% of the catches he made throughout his career resulted in first downs.  Now THAT's clutch!

But it's his work off the field with his Best Wishes Foundation, and the NFL Players Alumni Association that gives him the most joy.  There's giving back and then there's giving yourself.  He does both.

His book "Playbook for Life" is a roadmap for men who want to live with clarity, courage and conviction and is available at byronwilliamsbook.com.

It's a joy to talk with, laugh with and share stories with BYRON WILLIAMS on The Approach Shot.

Did we talk with KAREEM RUSH about the Kobe/Shaq Lakers teams?  What do you think?

Did we dig deep into his work with the University Heritage Fund, the fund that helps reunite former players with their school and alumni/boosters?  You bet we did!

Is it possible we talked about his brothers; NBA star Brandon and UCLA baller JaRon? Yes, but not the questions you might think we'd ask.

Where on the world's lists of Famous Kareem's does Kareem Rush place?  We know, and if you want to know, you have to listen!

This show with Kareem Rush a fun-filled, entertaining and uplifting episode of The Approach Shot and it's presented by Fan Duel and sponsored in part by GhostBed.

Do we talk with KURT BEVAQUA about his incredible 1984 Word Series? Of course!

How about former teammates like Dave Parker and Willie Stargell ?  Yup.

Being a kid and taking ground balls with Luis Aparicio and learning from Yankees great Bobby Richardson?  You bet!

His golf game?  Heck yea!

Who gave him the nickname "Dirty Kurt"?  You'll want to hear that story!!

And his famous dust-up with Tommy Lasorda?  What do you think?

This is a baseball lover's episode with tons of behind the scenes stories, insight and the kind of depth you only get from a 15 year major leaguer.  This is a must listen for all baseball and golf fans!

For most folks, it's the holidays that brings the greatest joy of the year.
For The Approach Shot, it's the time we get to spend with the amazing SCOTT HAMILTON.

One can't help but feel the joy he brings to every conversation, whether it's talking bout how he has fought cancer for 50 years now or doing a riff from his favorite song.

He honors his Mom with his tenacity, he gives us all tears of joy with his stories (the Steven Tyler story is hysterical) and we laugh over the silliest things as if we were best friends growing up.

It is with great pride and extreme happiness that we present our third (annual) episode with the incredible Scott Hamilton, presented by Fan Duel and sponsored in part by Ghostbed.

If you thought you heard some great stories in Part One of our conversation with TIM BRANDO, just wait until you listen to Part Deux.

We talk more about Timmy B's dad Hub and collecting Red Chief bottle caps back in the day.  Tim talks about being a boy and wearing a tux and how he'd sing and dance with his Dad.

Tim finally gets around to talking about the video of he and Spencer Tillman dancing and how that video went viral (5 million + views!)

Best of all, in the 6 pack, Tim puts his play-by-play hat on and calls his own (imaginary) putt on the (imaginary) 18th hole.

There are a lot of laughs, some touching moments talking about his family and just an overall great time on this incredibly memorable of The Approach Shot, presented by Fan Duel, America's #1 Sportsbook, and sponsored in part by Ghost Bed.

Every once is a while, our conversation with a guest is so engaging that we keep the mic hot and just keep rolling.

That's the case here with Tim Brando (also known as Timmy B; Timmy Toe Tap and more).

We never wanted it to end.  So, rather than cut out any great storytelling, we're presenting our conversation with Tim in two parts.  This is Part 1, with the six pack and golf talk in our next episode.

Don't miss stories of how Tim grew up in the spotlight and did song and dance as a young boy, his "in booth" dance moves that went viral, his audition for Wheel of Fortune, favorite broadcast partners and so much more on this incredibly entertaining episode of the The Approach Shot.

Laughs? Check

More laughs? You betcha

Will you have to put the show on pause so you don't miss anything while laughing?  Uh huh

But Red Grant also has a serious side, which caused him to run for mayor of Washington DC, and with no funding from any political party, almost won.  He cares deeply and this didn't turn into party politics, but you have to respect a comedian who went door-to-door and tried to cause change.

Mostly though, we laugh.  Again and again.

It was like an hour of stand-up when we sat down with Red Grant on this "laugh so hard you'll cry" episode of The Approach Shot.

Being a professional baseball player means the world to Dodgers pitcher Darren Dreifort. It's given him a life that he and his family are grateful for every day.
But being a professional dad and a loving husband? That gives DD the kind of joy that only a father of 4 and a happy husband can experience.
Sure, closing games at Dodger Stadium, and pitching over 175 innings three consecutive years with double digit win totals is thrilling and rewarding. But, balancing home life and professional life is what keeps the smile on Darren's face, and the humor in his soul.
And he is FUNNY! I mean, "laugh out loud A LOT" kind of funny.
So, if you enjoy laughing, hearing great stories, hearing about family and contentment (and who doesn't want to hear that these days?), this episode of The Approach Shot will give you ALL the feels!

Does he fly like Superman?  Well, sure, we have it on video.

Is he a great girl Dad?  Absolutely, ask his friend Mike Yastrzemski.

Did he bring passion and love for the game to every game in which he played?  His smile would tell you so.

Is he a World Series champion?  You know he is!

Was he called "Spiderman" because of his defensive prowess?  You betcha

Whether he was playing for the A's or the O's, the Astros or the Cubs, Tony Kemp played the game with flair, joy and the way we all want the game to be played.

And he's funny too!

If you want to hear baseball talk mixed with family love and great humor, you'll be glad you listened to Tony Kemp on this magical episode of The Approach Shot.

Does Stefan Caray's style come from great grandfather Harry Caray?  No

Does he sound like grandfather Skip?  Not exactly

More like Dad Chip?  Kinda sorta

Stefan Caray is no nepo baby.  He's his own man carving out his own niche, bringing his unique style to every broadcast.  He is the future of baseball broadcasting, with a tip of the hat to the past.  His youthful energy mixes with his old soul to bring a refreshingly authentic sound to every game.

And he brings all of that to this refreshingly honest and hilarious episode of The Approach Shot, presented by Fan Duel.

When you grow up in Sacramento and play college ball in L.A; you don't exactly dream of playing in cold weather, in a city that is the quintessential "small market". But the warmth GEOFF JENKINS felt (and still feels) from the Milwaukee Brewers organization is enough to keep the fire lit. Named to the Brewers Wall of Honor, Geoff had the 4th most home runs in Brewers history, only behind Robin Yount, Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder.
But it was his one year in Philadelphia that got him his World Series ring.
A fascinating man with an incredible sense of humor, this episode of The Approach Shot with GEOFF JENKINS is a must listen.
And it's conversations like this that made The Approach Shot the 2026 award of distinction winner for Best Sports interview and best co-hosts.

At 88 years old, you'd think NFL Hall of Famer RON MIX would be slowing down a bit, but his competitive fire still burns brightly. The NFL hall of Famer and 8x AFL All Star and AFL champion uses his experience and cunning to fight on behalf of former NFL players as President of the PFRPA (Pro Football Retired Players Association), where he works with other former greats like Jack Youngblood, Mike Singletary, Ahman Green to name a few to help players that are in need.
Ron talks about those players, who put their bodies (and brains) through the wars of professional football, their lingering health issues, and how the PFRPA are helping those players and their families.
Ron also reveals why he "hates" golf (turns out he doesn't really HATE it), and gives us his take on today's NFL. It's a fascinating view through the eyes of a man who has does it all and a must listen.

His love and respect for the man who gave his the nickname Marmaduke? YOU BETCHA
Game 7 of the 1991 World Series? OF COURSE
His favorite junk food? WHY NOT

You know how they say everything is better in Texas?  Well, at 6'6", 338 FLOZELL ADAMS had the SIZE to be one of the greatest offensive lineman of his time.  But it's not JUST the size that worked.  He always had a plan, whether it was to knock the defender on his rear end, or to finesse his opponent, "Flo" reveals his secret to success- listening!

This episode isn't just power and performance; far from it.  Flo is hilarious, and I mean genuinely funny, insightful and just uniquely Flozell Adams.  This episode is the reason you listen to podcasts in the first place.

Bryce Paup's toughness comes from his years of being looked over, played at the wrong position and then BAM! everything clicked.  But don't think he just fell into the right situation.  His toughness comes from the right attitude, work ethic and doing the right thing over and over again.  He'd call himself "old school" if old school means "you reap what you sew."

Sure, he has a great sense of humor, and is a proud, protective Dad.  And he sure loves to talk about golf, even if his game is a work in progress.

Strap on your pads, cause this hard hitting episode is an absolute blast!

Heartwarming stories of rescuing and helping animals?  Right here!

Amazing, life changing stories about some of the subjects on "Cheaters"?  You better believe it!

TOMMY HABEEB is a one of the great television hosts of this generation.  Of course, he really wants to be more known as an actor.  After all, that's how it all started!

Do we ask Dave how he created the original PHANATIC persona? You bet!
Talk about his relationship with Philly fans? Of course!
His "relationship" with Tommy Lasorda? You better believe it

We also talk about how the national media has dubbed Dave the "hero of happiness", and his ability to show how humor in the workplace can add productivity and slow turnover to small and large companies.

And golf? Oh does Dave love his golf, including playing with Steve Elkington, Fred Couples and even Philly great Mike Schmidt. Dave, like a lot of people played golf as a way to bond with his Dad, and he talks about that bond, too.

The hero of happiness brings smiles, great stories and a few surprises to this very special episode of The Approach Shot.

We ask Joel Hanrahan:

What happened on your first major league at bat?
Was there really a game in which you were the winning pitcher, while not being on the winning team's roster?
Who used to be your BP pitcher growing up?
Did you really go out and eat 20 chicken wings the day before you pitched?
Ever had a hole in one?

So many subjects, so little time, so we put the hammer down and got JOEL HANRAHAN to tell us everything.

If you're a MIAMI DOLPHINS fan, we go "All Phin" on this episode of The Approach Shot.
All Pro KIM BOKAMPER, who played his entire career with the Dolphins, has stayed with the Dolphins family on the field, in the booth and in his heart for 50 years now.

We talk Marino, Shula, Mercury Morris, OJ McDuffie, the Marks Brothers, the amazing defenses and the great offensive lines. We also discuss his friendship with Joe Theismann, the No Name defense, the Killer B's, the greatest throw he ever watched Marino throw and so much more on this episode, including his true love for golf and his amazing daughters.

And of course, we talk about the most famous incomplete pass in Super Bowl history.

I don't have to say it- we're FINS UP for this special episode of The Approach Shot.

He made a living as a "part time" hitter that came of the bench and was the back-up first baseman for the Cardinals, Nats, Braves and Rockies.

But MATT ADAMS' impact was far greater than a bench player.  In a game against the Cincinnati Reds, Matt hit a go-ahead HR in the 14th, and when the Reds tied the game, he hit ANOTHER home run in the 16th, this time to win it.

In Game 4 of the 2014 NLDS, Matt took Clayton Kershaw deep to secure the Game 4 victory against the Dodgers, propelling the Cards into the NL Championship.

In 2019, in only 310 at bats, Adams hit 20 HR's, which contributed mightily to the Nationals amazing season, which culminated in them winning the World Series.

After losing 35 pounds, Big City looks more like a small town, but his stories, and his humor are as big as ever, including some hilarious golf stories.

MATT ADAMS makes this truly one of the most entertaining episodes yet of The Approach Shot.

Hilarious and thoughtful, poetic yet humble, this episode with GORDON CLAPP is so much more than NYPD BLUE.

Sure, he won an Emmy for his role as Detective Greg Medavoy, and had a cast of great actors like Dennis Franz, Jimmy Smits and so many more to work with, but Gordon seems even more comfortable on stage doing a one man show, or living his best life doing theater in his beloved New England.

If you listen to podcasts to smile and be entertained, this episode of The Approach Shot with Gordon Clapp is a must listen.

It's gooooooooooood!  That goes for many of Nick's field goals and extra points.  It's also true for this episode of The Approach Shot.

The man who's been an All Pro, tied for the NFL scoring lead and led the NFL in field goal percentage the last THREE years running, also talks family, golf and what's next for the man they call "Folk Hero".

Fingers crossed that we get to watch him on the gridiron again in 2026.

Mike Gminski is one of basketball's most recognizable names; from his glory days at Duke to an incredibly successful NBA career. He is synonymous with greatness on the court.

Off the court, he has battled alcoholism since he started drinking at 15 years old. His story of denial, anger and finally recovery has led him to "recover out loud". He, now helps others struggling with addiction and brings his message of hope and struggles to this very special and personal episode of The Approach Shot.

He also talks about this year's Tournament, his golf game (spoiler- he's had a hole-in-one) and the incredible friendships and brotherhood he has made along the way.
If you like your heroes open and vulnerable with a sense of humor, this is a must listen!

He's a 49er, he's a Dolphin, he's Super back! TERRY KIRBY joins us on The Approach Shot with a unique perspective of what it's like to have played in the NFL for a decade, scored 27 TD's as a runner, 12 as a receiver, 4 as a return man and even have thrown 3 TD passes!

But our conversation doesn't stop there. We talk about Marino, Irving Friar, Steve Young and TK getting heated (and echoes our sentiment) when we talk about Dolphins' Pro Bowl lineman Richmond Webb STILL not being in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Want to talk about passion, humor and great storytelling? It's all here in this exceptionally entertaining episode of The Approach Shot.

We call The Approach Shot the golf "flavored" podcast. Never has that description been more evident as it is in this episode with quarterback TERRY HANRATTY.

Sure, we talk golf. We are, as mentioned a GOLF "flavored" show. But we also talk with Terry about finally being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. And about the amazing coaches that shaped him. His friendship with Terry Bradshaw. His podcast. And yes, his battle with Stage 4 lung cancer, which he has every intention on beating.

But, it's how he deals with cancer that is so incredible. He attacks it with humor and head-on and wishes others would do the same. Some would call him brave, others might call him an optimist. We call him our brother and our friend.

This is a rare glimpse into the true heart of a champion, on and off the field.

Let's be honest. John is a Boston Red Sox fan. Neal grew up in the Baltimore/Washington area and was around the Baltimore Orioles a lot. We both hate the Yankees.

But by the end of this episode, the ice melted a bit, and while we're still not Yankees fan, we learned to love the players, the human beings and the brotherhood in and around Billy Martin and Billy Martin Jr.

Apparently, hell has frozen over during this episode of The Approach Shot, presented by Fan Duel.

It's amazing how much ground we cover with Daniel Roebuck in one episode. He does impressions, he talks of old movies that inspired him, his love for Lehigh Valley PA, and why he keeps shooting his films there.
His new film "The Hail Mary" is a redemption story, a sports film and a coming-of-age story that is a must-see. The film follows Sister Kathy, who discovers a lonely and angry man struggling with his past. She tricks him into helping her start a football team for her small Catholic school. Through this journey, he learns about forgiveness, teamwork, and redemption. The movie is set to bring a warm message for families who enjoy inspirational stories.
His love for independent film making certainly comes through, but he still loves to be part of a blockbuster too. Oh, and Daniel talks about how badly his wife would kick his butt as golf...well maybe not MINI GOLF. This is a must listen episode with one of Hollywood's most intriguing people.

We had so many people reach out about this episode with LINDA COHN, we are running it again!

Linda Cohn, the only sportscaster that anchored over 5,000 episodes of Sports Center. While the boys were coming up with catch phrases like "Back, back, back", "It's deep and I don't think it's playable" and "Booyah!", LINDA COHN was highlighting the games, the plays and made it about the games, not herself. That would explain why she authored the book "Cohn-Head: No Holds Barred Account of Breaking Into the Boys Club."

A hockey fanatic from when she was a little girl, she broke barriers, broke records and then broke into the boy's club by being the first full-time U.S. female sports anchor on a national radio network when she was hired by ABC.

Delightful, real and incredibly interesting, this episode of The Approach Shot is a must listen!

His "Music Drives Us" podcast features some of the greatest voices in music history has featured amazing guests like Mickey Dolenz (of the Monkees), actor Keifer Sutherland, Russell Hitchcock (of Air Supply) and so many others who talk about how music has made their lives what they are today.

Jaybeau also has stories from behind the microphone, including radio station promotions gone wrong and the great story of filling in for Rick Dees on the Rick Dees Weekly top 40 (That story is worth the whole show!)

If you're a fan of radio personalities or Sirius 70's at 7, this is a must listen!

Yes, he really is warm, honest, faith-based, funny and Tina Turner's godson to boot.
GARY (Big G) LEVINGSTON is our special guest on this episode of The Approach Shot. I'm not sure if we laughed more than we talked about friendship, faith and love.

I will tell you this- we got Gary to sing (holy crap!) and make a major announcement about his love life!

He's a 2x Cy Young Winner, a World Series champion and the 1985 World Series MVP. He's also a 3 time All Star and a Gold Glove winner. So BRET SABERHAGEN would be an amazing guest even if all we did was talk about his baseball career.

But he turned his love for golf and for his wife Kandace into a phenomenal charity called SabesWings. SabesWings' goal is to strike out medical financial toxicity. Translation? They help people suffering from cancer to pay their everyday bills so that a cancer patient doesn't have to decide between paying for treatment or paying their rent.

It's an amazing organization that he and Kandace pour their souls into and we talk about their upcoming event in October in Central California to help raise funds and awareness on this very special episode of The Approach Shot.

What a life! DON BEEBE is a 9 year NFL veteran wide receiver and return man. Out of those 9 years, he went to the Super Bowl 5 times an finally won a ring with the Green Bay Packers.

He has been a successful coach at Aurora University (currently 51-10 as a head coach), and speaks at churches, businesses, colleges and more. His "Never Give Up" attitude is contagious and his faith has gotten him through some very tough situations.

We talk about all of this and hear stories of Marv Levy, Jim Kelly and Brett Favre and more on this funny, uplifting, story-packed episode of The Approach Shot.
