  • Phoenix's clientele often consists of individuals who've exhausted other traditional and alternative treatments.

The Astral Body and its Origins

  • The term "Astra" is Latin for star.

  • Theophrastus Bombastus Paracelsus, born around 1492, introduced Spagyric medicine in the early 1500s.

  • Paracelsus believed diseases could come from external sources.

  • He recognized five macro-causations of disease, with one being the influence of stars, termed "inza."

  • Modern interpretation relates the movement and positioning of stars and planets to diseases, suggesting their gravitational and electromagnetic fields impact human health.

  • The astral body corresponds with stars, where each organ is a reflection of a star.

Historical Overview of Alchemy

  • Alchemy's origin traces back to Egypt, a practice kept by priests and pharaohs for spiritual and industrial purposes.

  • Greeks adopted alchemy, followed by Arabs who began medicinal applications.

  • By the time the knowledge reached Europe, it got a tainted reputation due to charlatans.

  • Paracelsus shifted the focus of alchemy from materialistic pursuits to healing, using alchemical knowledge for medicine.

Introduction to Spagyric Medicine

  • Spagyric medicine was developed by Paracelsus as a way to use alchemy for healing.

  • Paracelsian physicians became popular in France and England.

  • The medical approach contrasts with the Galenic medicine, which relies on the balance of four elemental humors in the body.

  • Paracelsus believed the scope of what can create disease and illness was vast, and he utilized natural materials to craft medicines.

Creation of Gold and Diamonds

  • Modern science can create diamonds, sparking debate over the possibility of making gold.

  • Historically, alchemists referred to the Philosopher's Stone which, in two forms, could transmute baser metals into silver (white stone) or gold (red stone).

  • The debate remains on whether this transmutation is atomic in nature or simply makes the metal behave like gold.

Value of Agriculture Over Precious Metals

  • Phoenix Aurelius suggests that in pressing times, the intrinsic value of agriculture and basic necessities outweighs that of gold.

  • Ryan Sternagel's personal experiences shifted his focus from collecting gold to preparing with essential commodities like rice and beans.

Holistic Approach to Health and Disease

  • Phoenix Aurelius emphasizes treating the patient, not just the disease, as different individuals can have varied causes for similar ailments.

  • Different categories of disease causes include natural factors, spirits or electromagnetic energies, and transgressions of one's conscience.

  • Not all treatments work universally; their effectiveness depends on the root cause of the disease.

  • For example, cannabinoids might address cancer for some people but not others, depending on the underlying cause.

Impact of Personal Choices on Health and World

  • Actions that go against one's conscience can negatively affect health.

  • There's a macrocosmic link between personal health and larger world issues. Working for companies that suppress information or harm the environment can have broader repercussions.

  • However, awareness is crucial. Some people may work in such environments without it affecting their conscience. Still, raising awareness and striving for a better world can lead to collective health and wellness.

Phoenix Aurelius on Disease Causes

  • The process starts by analyzing the individual.

  • Identification of different causes of disease: ancestral, toxins (ins veneni), electromagnetic phenomena (ins spirituale), and transgression of conscience.

  • Criticism of traditional Western tropical astrology; it doesn't relate to individual health.

  • Introduction of Astronomology: A more accurate astrological approach, focusing on actual constellations' sizes and planetary positions.

  • Importance of comparing birth chart to the onset of a disease for accurate diagnosis.

  • Observations on the link between the position of Mars and health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically hemoglobinemia.

Phoenix Aurelius on Spagyric Process

  • Spagyric medicine focuses on separating and then recombining elements of plants.

  • Everything consists of sulfur, mercury, and salt representing the soul, spirit, and body of all things.

  • Details on two types of sulfur: volatile oils (essential oil) and fixed sulfur (plant extracts).

  • Creation of spirits through fermentation and distillation, yielding alcohol.

  • Explanation of incineration and calcination processes to obtain salt, primarily potassium carbonate.

  • The final spagyric tincture is a blend of the essential oil complex, plant extracts, and potassium carbonate, resulting in unique chemical reactions.

  • Comparison of herbal and spagyric tinctures, with spagyric tinctures being more potent and efficient.

Spagyric Tinctures: Potency and Application

  • Spagyric tinctures utilize the entire plant, ensuring no waste.

  • These tinctures are enriched with esters and phytochemicals not present in regular herbal tinctures.

  • Spagyric tinctures are more potent than herbal tinctures.

  • Due to their sublingual application, these tinctures have an extended presence in the bloodstream, lasting up to 24 hours, compared to the 2-3 hours of most herbal medicines.

  • The sublingual method allows for faster absorption directly into the bloodstream.

Discussion on Specific Herbs for Cancer and Dermatological Conditions

Bloodroot (Sanguinaria canadensis):

  • Traditional herb used for cancers, especially when applied topically for skin cancers like melanoma.

  • Bloodroot is rich in sanguinarine, clethrin, and berberine, which possess anti-cancer properties.

  • Bloodroot spagyric tincture contains unique chemicals that haven't been named in modern chemistry.

  • The tincture, taken internally, can be beneficial against cancers like leukemia and those affecting bone marrow. However, it is essential to be cautious with the dosage to avoid toxicological risks.

Mistletoe (Viscum album):

  • European mistletoe, specifically from oak trees, is used.

  • Widely researched in Europe, mistletoe extracts have been deemed safe and effective against cancer. They're even used for IV and localized injections.

Chaparral
  • Chaparral grows in the American Southwest and is harvested in New Mexico.

  • Contains higher concentrations of ursolic acid than edible basil variants like Genovese basil.

  • Packed with minerals and phytonutrients that amplify the body's ability to fight against cancer.

  • Synergistic phytochemicals in the herb combat various cancers including colon, breast, lung, and more.

  • Offers relief from the side effects of radiation therapy.

  • Strongly recommended for both prevention and aiding the body in eliminating cancerous conditions.

Alchemy and Heart Health

  • Alchemical practices can aid in heart health.

  • Reading recommendation: "Human Heart, Cosmic Heart" by Dr. Tom Cowan which explains:

    • The heart vortexes blood, rather than pumps.

    • Veins and arteries act as hydrophilic tubes aiding in blood circulation.

    • Reduction of lactic acid in arteries can help with heart health.

    • Recommendation: Strophanthus spagyric tincture which will soon be available.

  • Omega fatty acids can help maintain healthy arteries by creating a greasy lining, aiding blood flow.

  • Alchemical oil of egg, which has been researched in Europe, can break up arterial deposits.

Prostate Health and Cancer

  • Prostate issues, including cancer, can be influenced by numerous factors.

  • The alignment of the Pluto astral body can impact sexual dysfunction.

  • Nutritional supplements that can help include saw palmetto berry, nettle root, tribulus, magnesium, and selenium.

  • Silica may also be beneficial.

  • Hemp has potential benefits for prostate health when consumed and used rectally.

Spagyric Tinctures and Their Effects

  • Spagyric tinctures start acting immediately upon entering the bloodstream.

  • Duration for noticeable effects can range from hours to months, depending on the condition and its progression.

  • Spagyric tinctures are not only physiologically beneficial but also have effects on spiritual, mental, emotional, etheric, and physical vitalities.

  • It's important for the environment where the tinctures are made to be free of negative energy.

  • Tinctures mature over time, becoming more potent, unlike regular herbal tinctures which degrade.

  • The potency of a spagyric tincture can improve over several years, especially if stored in the right conditions.

Storage and Longevity of Tinctures

  • Standard herbal tinctures, with about 40% alcohol, degrade in 1-2 years.

  • Spagyric tinctures mature over time and can become more potent.

  • The chemical composition of spagyric tinctures evolves and matures, similar to wine.

  • Using dark violet glass for storage can protect the tincture from harmful UV degradation.

    • Benefits can be gained from both low and high doses of IV vitamin C, depending on the application.

    • The amount needed can vary based on body weight and the specific health of the patient.

    • High doses can range from 50-100 grams for most adult-sized individuals.

    • Vitamin C remains in the system for about 24 hours post-IV.

    • Vitamin C is unique in that it harms cancer cells while supporting healthy cells.

    • Lower doses (around 10-15 grams) can provide significant improvements in quality of life for frail or end-of-life patients.

  • Circulating Tumor Cell Tests:

    • Have improved over time; past versions like RGCC and CellSearch were not as accurate.

    • Technology is rapidly changing and affecting the reliability of these tests.

    • Biocept, Maintrac, and IVY gene are currently used tests.

    • These tests are especially useful for:

      • Monitoring cancer in remission or no evidence of disease.

      • Tracking the effectiveness of ongoing treatments.

  • Treatment Strategies Based on Cancer Stage:

    • Late Stage:

      • Urgency in treatment is crucial.

      • Need a holistic approach, addressing dietary habits, toxins, infections, hormones, and overall health.

      • Aim to grab the cancer's attention and slow its progression.

    • Early Stage:

      • There's more flexibility in treatment approaches.

      • Focus can be on non-cancer issues like detoxifying, balancing hormones, improving gut health, and addressing mental health.

      • Treatment options can include concentrated mushroom extracts, metabolic treatments like exogenous ketones, or even dietary shifts such as raw vegan diets.

  • Post-Cancer Treatment:

    • Post chemotherapy and radiation, there's an increased risk for secondary cancers because they can stimulate cancer stem cells.

    • Importance of recovery after initial treatments and secondary prevention to ensure recurrence doesn't occur.

    • Repairing the body and suppressing cancer stem cells is essential.

  • Diet's Impact on Cancer:

    • No single "best" diet for cancer elimination; however, diet plays a pivotal role.

    • Emphasis on clean eating: Avoid processed foods, chemicals, pesticides, and herbicides.

    • A shift in diet can have a noticeable effect on cancer within 1-3 months.

  • Key Dietary Recommendations:

    • Intermittent Fasting (IF): IF for even 13 hours has shown to reduce the recurrence of breast cancer. It activates autophagy (cell cleaning) and has other metabolic benefits.

    • Diet Cleanliness: Remove junk and chemicals from diet.

    • Plant-based Spectrum: High in polyphenols, fiber, dense nutrients, and low in simple carbs. Raw food diets can quickly get the body's attention.

    • Ketogenic Spectrum: Shifts body metabolism and may be beneficial against certain types of cancers. It's crucial to balance protein intake since excess protein can be converted into sugar.

    • Modified Mediterranean Diet: High plant-based with clean protein and fat sources, minimal grains.

  • Diet Adaptability:

    • Initial diet is about getting the body's attention; it might differ from the long-term diet.

    • Both ketogenic and raw food diets have shown positive effects on patients with various cancer types.

    • Adapt the diet based on what a person can do and tolerate.

    • Long-term success requires consistency in dietary habits.

  • Observational Cases:

    • Noted a patient surviving stage 3/4 breast cancer for over 15 years primarily using a ketogenic diet.

    • Other cases showed success with a raw food diet transitioned into a modified vegetarian diet.

  • Regular Monitoring:

    • Emphasizes tracking certain blood work indicators (e.g., LDH, alkaline phosphatase, GGT) regularly.

    • These markers can provide insights into inflammation, oxygen levels, and overall body health.

    • Monitoring helps catch subtle shifts in the body's health, guiding adjustments in treatments and dietary habits.

  • Cancer Stem Cells (CSCs) Insights:

    • CSCs are smarter than regular tumor cells (daughter cells).

    • While treatments like chemotherapy or radiation can reduce tumor size, they might make one prone to relapses because CSCs hide and wait.

    • Many people have dormant CSCs in their bodies.

    • The challenge is to keep these cells inactive.

    • CSCs can recruit normal cells to become cancerous.

  • CSC Triggers & Management:

    • One major trigger for CSCs is inflammation.

    • Inflammation sources include lack of exercise, poor diet, toxins, infections.

    • Healthier lifestyles, such as better diets and regular exercise, produce anti-cancer metabolic triggers.

    • Intermittent fasting and periodic longer fasts can slow CSC activity.

    • Diet, detox, and addressing specific toxic exposures can help maintain an environment less favorable for CSC growth.

  • NAD Therapy Insights:

    • NAD is essential for energy production in mitochondria.

    • High doses of NAD can be problematic for those with cancer because some cancers can utilize excess NAD for growth.

    • For those with a cancer history, lower dose NAD therapy can be considered safe.

    • In active cancer cases, high-dose NAD therapy should be avoided.

    • Oral supplementation with nicotinamide riboside can help, but high doses may pose risks.

  • Resources and Contacts:

    • Book recommendation: "Outside the Box Cancer Therapies" provides practical insights into cancer treatments.

    • Dr. Paul Anderson's clinic: Advanced Medical Therapies, located in Seattle, Washington.

In This Episode:

Our guest today, Mark Simon, talks about how eating a low methionine diet can lead to better health and cancer cell death (apoptosis).

In this episode, Mark and Ryan discuss the benefits of a plant-based diet which is high in fruits and berries, moderate in vegetables and void of animal products. Through his work at the Nutritional Oncology Research Institute, Mark has developed the NORI protocol, based on the two core concepts of restricting methionine intake and using high doses of sodium selenite (selenium salts) and other targeted nutraceuticals to reduce tumor cell growth. In-vivo studies and clinical experience affirm the effectiveness of this type of diet. The concept of using pro-oxidants versus anti-oxidants is discussed as is the mechanism of sodium selenite and the relationship between methionine and cancer.

This conversation may challenge the way you currently view your nutritional protocol. We encourage you to keep an open mind. Be prepared to stretch your current point of view and perhaps gain some new insight and ideas.

Please enjoy this next installment of the Anti-cancer Revolution! Be sure to let us know what you think below.

0:41 Fruit or no fruit – That is the million dollar question

  • Mark promotes a methionine restricted diet - high fruit, moderate vegetables, no animal products
  • Utilizes Vitamin E, tocotrienol, selenium, iodine

2:30 Overview of the NORI protocol

  • Based on two core ideas -
    • methionine restricted diet &
    • high dose selenium (sodium selenite)
  • Mark started the diet based on personal experience after his wife was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer
  • Diet plays a huge role as a tool in cancer prevention
  • Sodium selenite is a form of selenium studied for over 40 years
    • Is a selective chemo-therapeutic agent
    • Can kill cancer cells without causing harm to other cells
    • High bio-availability
    • Can be administered intravenously or orally

6:00 Relationship between methionine and cancer cells

  • Mark discover the work of Dr. Daniel E. Epner, MD - clinical studies using methionine restricted diet
  • Video by Dr. Mark Gregor on Mark’s website describing methionine and what it does
  • Methionine is an amino acid
  • If methionine is restricted, cancer cells die
  • Could potentially work as stand-alone therapy

8:30 How do you reduce methionine in the body and what is the end goal?

  • Through the diet methionine levels can be brought quite low
    • All whole foods contain some level of methionine
    • Fruits contain the least amount of methionine
    • Grains, nuts, beans, seeds, animal products contain the most
  • Best to cycle methionine levels on and off
  • In the future hope is to be able to bring methionine levels to zero

10:05 What do cancer cells do with methionine?

  • Cancer cells use methionine as a building block
  • Methionine is not needed for normal cell growth- not an essential amino acid
  • MTOR pathway is stimulated less with methionine restriction
  • Methionine restriction makes cancer cells more sensitive to treatment
  • NORI diet is a platform to slow down tumor growth and make cancer more sensitive to treatment

13:50 What are your thoughts on eating fruit?

  • Fruit is not the same thing as table sugar
  • Most fruits are low glycemic
  • Fruitarian diet does not cause high blood sugar
  • 80-10-10 diet (80% fruit, 10% protein, 10% fat)
  • Sugar does not encourage tumor growth, insulin does
  • Ketogenic diet doesn’t work long term because glutamine is not cut out of diet

18:00 NORI diet restricts other cancer-dependent amino acids besides methionine

  • Glutamine
  • Phenylalanine
  • Isoleucine
  • Tryptophan
  • Asparagine

18:30 NORI diet is an alkaline diet

  • Alkaline diet helps neutralize acidity around tumors
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Anti-angiogenesis
  • Dr. Robert Morse recommends a similar program

20:05 Where do you stand on juicing fruit? Is there a difference between eating fruit and vegetables with or without fiber?

  • A little bit of freshly squeezed citrus juice is fine
  • Bottled juices - no
  • Believes juicing is counter-productive
    • More antioxidants flooding the system makes it harder to fight cancer
    • Hasn’t seen data showing success with juicing and stage 4 cancer
  • Plant based diet is a good idea
  • Cancers are crazier today than years ago
  • Gerson’s original diet involved orange juice and lower protein (lower methionine)
  • Juicing probably doesn’t get phytochemicals up to appropriate levels

23:45 Can you elaborate on antioxidants and cancer?

  • Study with animals on low-antioxidant diet slowed tumor progression
  • Normal cells operate on a low level of oxidative stress
  • Cancer cells operate at a high level of oxidative stress because of altered metabolism
  • Adding oxidative stress will push cancer cells over the edge
  • Cancer cells are dependent on anti-oxidant systems like:
    • Glutathione
    • Thioredoxin
    • Catalyse
    • Superoxide dismutase
  • If you block glutathione synthesis, cancer cells die off
  • Putting anti-oxidants into the system aids cancer survival such as:
    • Vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol form)
    • Vitamin C
    • NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)
    • Vitamin A
  • NORI program is careful not to incorporate juicing or other antioxidant supplements
  • NORI program utilizes pro-oxidants which increase oxidative stress
    • Sodium selenite
    • Generates hydrogen peroxide
    • Generates ROS (reactive oxygen species)
    • Triggers cell apoptosis

28:30 What are your thoughts on using antioxidants to increase chemotherapy and drug success?

  • Oncologists tell patients no antioxidant supplements because they know they will interfere with treatment
    • Antioxidants protect cancer cells
    • Mark hasn’t seen any research showing antioxidants make chemo work better
    • Research shows pro-oxidant therapy helps chemo work better
      • Sodium selenite
      • Ozone therapy
      • Sulforaphane (need 10-20 grams or more) - not too efficient

32:30 Can you give us a breakdown of the different levels of methionine within food groups?

  • Foods highest in methionine: Chicken and fish
  • Next: other animal products- beef, dairy, eggs
    • Mark has been vegan for 30 years (supplements with B12 occasionally)
    • Caution: B-12 can be used by cancer cells for protein synthesis
  • Soy, sesame seeds, and brazil nuts are high in methionine
  • Lowest: apple, most fruits
  • Dark green veggies are fairly high
  • Hard part is getting enough calories on a low methionine diet
    • Potatoes and rice work to bring up weight

38:40 Cycling on and off low-methionine foods

  • Encourage fruit-only breakfast (easily digested, full of enzymes, fiber, water, cleansing, detoxifying, extends a fast)
  • Book: Harvey Diamond, Fit for Life
  • Food combining
  • Methionine restriction is anti-aging
  • Ketosis is not necessarily a healthy state -  not natural/normal
  • Not a proponent of fasting for cancer patients - too stressful
  • Recommends a fruit-only diet instead of fasting
  • Super-charge your system by eating raw, high-energy, plant-based foods

44:30 What is the distinction between nutraceuticals and supplements?

  • Use supplements to fill in gaps
  • Recommends supplementing with iodine, selenium, vitamin D, zinc, B12
  • Nutraceuticals can be used to lower inflammation
    • Sodium selenite is used as an anticancer nutraceutical
    • Vitamin E delta tocotrienol- high dose kills cancer cells
    • Glucosamine alters cancer cells
    • High-dose zinc is effective in killing cancer cells
    • Melatonin effective in fighting cancer (300 mg)
    • Curcumin - plant derived medicine - not very bioavailable
  • Medicines work because of toxic effects on system/system modulation

50:20 How did selenium and tocotrienols stand out to you?

  • High index of therapeutic value
  • High bioavailability
  • Water solubility
  • ADME Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Excretion - nutraceuticals are analyzed according to this standard
  • Sodium selenite has reached animal and human clinical studies (in-vivo)
  • Methionine restriction is being used in ongoing human clinical studies

55:20 What is the mechanism of action of sodium selenite?

  • Selective pro-oxidant
  • Study which shows it inhibits glutamine metabolism
  • Natural high uptake into tumor tissue
  • Radioactive sodium selenite (SE-75) was used in the 1960s to highlight cancer cells on imaging tests
  • Relatively small amount of sodium selenite (10-20 mg) is typically needed at therapeutic threshold levels
  • 9 hour half-life
  • Cells need to be exposed 24 to 72 hours or more - the longer the better
  • Lower doses can be sustained for longer periods of time
  • .3 mg/kg of body weight is dosage for IV sodium selenite
  • IVs are used for pulsing in addition to oral dosage
  • IVs can become cost-prohibitive

1:01:30  Hazards of buying sodium selenite online

  • Can be risky - might be over a toxic dose or too weak
  • Mark sells some on his website
  • Might not be pharmaceutical dose
  • Signs of overdose
    • Hair loss
    • Brittle nails
  • Use under supervision

1:03:00  Is this an extract of selenium versus a whole compound?

  • Sodium selenite is a mineral salt - inorganic form of selenium- trace mineral
  • Chemical formula Na 2 Se0 3
  • Body needs it all the time
  • Organic forms vary in the level of anti-cancer activity
  • 100% water soluble- easily crosses blood-brain barrier
  • Vitamin E used is extracted from annatto seed - delta tocotrienol
    • Pro-oxidant
    • Looks and behaves like unsaturated fatty acid
    • Initiates lipid peroxidase chain reaction
    • Ends up in mitochondrial membrane
    • Interacts with and generates more ROS
    • Triggers cancer cells to die - apoptosis
    • Mitochondria are dysfunctional in cancer cells
    • Breaks the positive feedback loop of the mitochondria so cells can die

1:09:39  You mentioned DHA. Where do you get yours?

  • Mark uses an algae oil
  • Studies show DHA can be used therapeutically in cancer (6g/day)
  • DHA will become incorporated into the cancer cell membranes and will undergo lipid peroxidase reactions
  • Algae oil is unstable and oxidizes easily
  • Antioxidants are added to maintain stability and this can be enough to interfere with NORI protocol

1:11:20  Budwig diet - similarities and differences

  • Fruit, berries, no animal products
  • Cottage cheese and flax oil mixture
  • Flax contains ALA, a polyunsaturated fat
  • Studies show ALA can trigger cancer cells to die
  • Flaxseed oil must be freshly pressed (15-30g)
  • Cottage cheese/quark works as an emulsifying agent to break up the oil for bioavailability
  • Theoretically based on the science, it should work
  • Not in favor of it right now because there are better methods
  • Tocotrienol does the same thing only with more efficiency

1:15:30 Lithium Chloride

  • Still under study
  • Has a favorable effect on cancer pathways
  • Used as treatment booster
  • Studies with lithium chloride used in conjunction with 5FU in animals

1:17:07 NORI protocol is currently using 6 agents

  • 3 core agents make up the cytotoxic cocktail
    • Vit E tocotrienol (1200mg), sodium selenite, Vit K3
  • 3 other agents working around the cocktail
    • Glucosamine (8g), zinc citrate (150mg), melatonin (300mg)
  • Used in conjunction with methionine-restricted diet
  • Protocol is continually evolving based on clinical experience
  • Simple, low-cost

KEY TAKEAWAYS

1.

What are CTCs and what do they mean?

  • Cells from a collection of cancer cells, tumor or metastatic deposit
  • Sometime seen on scans but not always
  • Circulate in the blood or lymphatic tissues
  • Can only test for the CTC in blood. Need biopsy to detect in lymphatic tissue
  • The presence of CTCs doesn’t necessarily indicate metastatic cancer
  • CTCs don’t live very long in the blood – persistent CTC is cause for concern

    Cancer spreads in two ways

  • Metastasize (means “evil spread”) - cells travel via blood vessels
  • Direct invasion - cells invade the tissues and then access lymphatic system or blood stream

What to look for in CTC testing

  • Only available for certain cancers – ovarian, pancreatic, colon, lung, breast, prostate
  • Looking for two different populations of CTCs- cytokeratin(CK)-positive and CK-negative
    • ➔  CK is an anchor molecule for cells
    • ➔  CK-negative cells are cells that have down regulated their CK and can leave the

tissue space to ‘circulate’ as a CTC

    • ➔  CK-positive cells are rarely found in CTC tests unless through trauma or if the tumor is invasive
    • ➔  CK-negative cells can revert back to CK-positive and “anchor in” to a new tissue site
  • Test results provide highly individual information about that person’s specific tumor
  • Can also see some markers you’d see on pathology specimens - things that sit on the surface of cells such as androgen and estrogen receptors

  1. When to test for CTCs
    • At diagnosis and before treatment, when cancer is the highest
    • During treatment to gauge therapeutic response
    • Post treatment testing to determine if cancer is still present or to identify recurrences
  2. What to do with CTC test results
    • Depends on the patient – their history, the cancer, how aggressive, treatment proto- cols undertaken. Every situation/person is different
    • Run other lab tests to look at supporting factors in the blood and fix those: ➔ Inflammatory markers
      ➔ Cell markers
      ➔ Immune markers

      ➔ Tissue markers

      ➔ Hormones

➔ Tissues at risk – liver, lung, bones

      ➔ Nutrient levels

      ➔ Vitamin D – 25-Hydroxy and 1,25-Dihydroxy

➔ Look at lifestyle – diet, toxins, air, water

    • Goal is to shut down the flow of CTC into the blood

Pancreatic & Protelytic Enzymes, Metabolic Typing & Coffee Enemas | Mary Swander, Author: The Maverick M.D.: Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez & Ryan Sternagel14 Jan 202101:20:02

Show notes at https://thesternmethod.com/mary-swander

Mary Swander is an award-winning American author, dramatist, performer, speaker, and teacher. She is the former Poet Laureate of Iowa and a professor emerita Distinguished Professor of Iowa State University.

Mary is the Artistic Director of Swander Woman Productions, a theatre troupe that performs dramas about food, farming, and the wider rural environment. She is also the Executive Director of AgArts, a nonprofit designed to imagine and promote healthy food systems through the arts. Her latest book is The Maverick M.D.: Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez and His Fight for a New Treatment for Cancer (New Spring Press).

The Maverick M.D. is the story of how Dr. Nick Gonzalez perfected the scientific theory behind Dr. William Kelley's work and put the protocol into practice in New York City. Gonzalez drew courage from his Christian faith, from Mexican-Italian-American family, and from key loved ones, colleagues and mentors.

He spent years treating patients with the most serious conditions--from cancer to diabetes to lupus. But he wasn't satisfied as an outlier in the medical community. He wanted his work put to the test with a clinical trial.

This book portrays a man who fought for the acceptance of a nutritional cancer treatment in the halls of some of the most established U.S. medical institutions. Against intense opposition, Nick Gonzalez's determination held up until the end--a scientist who developed a therapy that saves lives and promotes the healing of the human mind, body and spirit.

11:45 Mary Swander’s experience as a patient of Dr. Gonzalez

  • Dr. Gonzalez passed away in 2015

  • MaryBeth Gonzalez (widow) has worked hard to keep his legacy alive

  • Mary Swander was patient of Dr. Gonzalez for 20 years

  • Group of scientists with breast cancer wanted to work with Dr. Gonzalez to heal metastasis
  • On the advice of a friend, Mary worked with Dr. Gonzalez to clear up her fibrocystic tumors and to build up her depleted immune system

  • Mary didn’t want people to forget Dr. Gonzalez and his work. She felt a book needed to be written about his life and therapy. Dr. Gonzalez’s widow, Mary Beth, agreed.

17:00 What surprised Mary about Dr. Gonzalez’ life

  • During the time Dr. Gonzalez was a journalist, he used to read a book a day.

  • He researched and was fascinated with ecology
  • As a child, Dr. Gonzalez used to spend his summers camping at Lake George, NY. The rest of the year, his family lived in NYC.
  • Went to Brown University but transferred for a short time to Cornell to study agriculture
  • Read Sir Albert Howard and other sustainable agricultural teachers
  • Thinking holistically at a very young age

21:25 The experience of trying to explain unconventional healing to conventional medical practitioners

  • Dr. Gonzalez identified 12 different metabolic types
  • Dr. Gonzalez was very “balanced” on his own scale of metabolic types
  • Dr. Gonzalez’s grandparents were immigrants, exceptionally bright and accomplished. Mexican-Italian heritage. Ancestors helped lead the Revolution in Mexico and included accomplished musicians.
  • Story of how Dr. Gonzalez’s grandfather almost didn’t make it through customs at Ellis Island but succeeded by playing the cello in the customs building halls.
  • Anthropologist Margaret Mead said it takes 3 generations to create the super-accomplished person and Dr. Gonzalez was just that.

25:00 Combining the physical with the meta-physical/spiritual world

  • The archetype of the wounded healer - physical wounds and healing can lead to spiritual awareness, healing, transformation
  • Not only was Dr. Gonzalez incredibly bright and balanced, he was also very spiritual
  • Dr. Gonzalez spent a lot of time with his patients and always had a Bible nearby
  • Dr. Gonzalez grew up Catholic and became fascinated with the Bible during his first marriage
  • He had a photographic memory and became a biblical scholar

29:00 Dr. Gonzalez’s personality and drive to develop his program

  • Small in stature, athlete, fighter, quick and motivated, driven
  • Part of the program is use of pancreatic enzymes

  • Dr. Gonzalez learned about enzymes from Dr. William Kelley
  • The enzymes are formulated in a precise way - Dr. Gonzalez worked on this for years
  • Pancreatic enzymes go back to the end of the 19th century with a biologist (embryologist) named John Beard, DSc in Scotland
  • Beard studied placental growth and embryonic development and theorized pancreatic enzymes might control tumor growth in the same way they control the growth of the placenta
  • At the turn of the 20th century, pancreatic enzymes were being used with modest success
  • Beard was forgotten about after Marie Curie’s discovery of radiation
  • Dr. Gonzalez’s enzymes are still in production through NutriCology
  • Dr. Gonzalez had to finance his own research
  • Number of enzymes and frequency taken varies with the type of condition
  • Everyone on the program does coffee enemas to help detox
  • Dr. Gonzalez asked the Merk Manual editors why they took coffee enemas out of the manual (lack of space)
  • Protocol uses liver and colon cleanses, some juicing
  • Dr. Gonzalez’s widow Mary Beth is working to formalize the Gonzalez program and train doctors in the protocol
  • Metabolic scale/typing determines which diet is used on the protocol

46:55 Balance is key

  • Acid v. alkaline - don’t go off the scale in either direction
  • The genius of Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. William Kelley
  • Not possible to use same protocol for everyone because of unique metabolic types
  • 12 different diets with 99 variations

51:24 Metabolic typing

  • Testing and bloodwork
  • pH
  • Personality type
  • Physical characteristics
  • Ancestry
  • Geographical location

57:05 Dr. Gonzalez’s thoughts on meat

  • Didn’t look as much at individual (chemical) components of foods as he did using foods to bring the body back into balance

  • Eliminate the whole food dislikes- listen to your body

1:02:15 Clinical study of the Gonzalez protocol

  • Dr. Gonzalez worked most of his earlier career trying to find funding for his clinical trials (Nestle, Proctor and Gamble)
  • Nestle funded a study by Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Linda L. Isaacs on pancreatic cancer and enzymes published in medical literature
  • Encouraged by doctors at the NIH to do a clinical trial
  • Trial took place at Columbia University over course of 10 years
  • Dr. Gonzalez wrote a book called What Went Wrong  because so many procedures weren’t followed
  • In the end, researchers at Columbia published a paper which said the protocol didn’t work
  • Success of the protocol often depends on the compliance of the patient
  • Dr. Gonzalez didn’t cure everyone who walked through his doors

1:09:33 Mystery surrounding Dr. Gonzalez’s death

  • News articles are not definitive
  • Facts of the death (not conspiracies) are in the book

Photodynamic Therapy, Sound Healing & Cancer Fighting Foods | Dr Tony Jimenez & Ryan Sternagel 04 Jan 202101:32:38

show notes @ https://thesternmethod.com/tony-jimenez-photodynamic/

Dr. Antonio Jimenez, or as patients affectionately call him, Dr. Tony, founded Hope4Cancer in 2000 and has dedicated his life to researching alternative strategies to treat cancer, chronic infections, and immune disorders, after he saw firsthand the negative side effects that accompanied the conventional treatments his father underwent being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

After completing his traditional undergraduate education in the United States, Dr. Jimenez received his M.D. degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Faculty of Medicine in Mexico, and went on to pursue his N.D. degree at the Trinity School of Natural Health.

For over 30 years, Dr. Jimenez has traveled the world learning and researching new approaches to cancer treatment, with the dream in mind of opening an alternative clinic capable of providing any method to give patients their best chance of recovery.

Today, that dream is alive and well in Dr. Jimenez’s three international Hope4Cancer Treatment Centers. As the founder of Hope4Cancer and a pioneer of holistic protocol approach The Seven Key Principles of Cancer Therapy, Dr. Jimenez has been recognized by various forums worldwide. Most notably, he was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by The Truth About Cancer organization in 2016 for his dedicated study, research, and implementation of effective non-toxic medical treatments.

Dr. Antonio Jimenez, M.D., N.D., is a Board Certified Licensed Physician of Mexico and Spain

In This Episode:

This is only the second product-focused podcast in the Anti-Cancer Revolution Series which says a lot about how highly Ryan rates Poly-MVA, a unique Lipoic Acid Mineral Complex that is designed to provide energy for compromised body systems.

In this episode Ryan and Al put the spotlight on mitochondria, the critical role they play in helping the body heal itself, and why it’s so important that we support them. They take a deep dive into cell metabolism, oxygenation and inflammation and uncover how, in the right environment, these factors can turn a healthy cell into a cancer cell.

So tune in and discover for yourself what it is about Poly-MVA that makes it so well regarded by Ryan and many naturopathic doctors.

You represent a product, you're not a doctor

  • CEO of Armac enterprises

We have seen each other at numerous conferences. If I recall one of them you were giving yourself IV PolyMVA...

  • I practice what I preach!
  • I live an anti-cancer life. It's easier to prevent than to treat or cure
  • Mother passed away from cancer at 36, sister at 40 – it's in my epigenetics
  • What got your Dad into making this product?
  • His mother died in 1972. She went the conventional treatment route. Al’s father looked at different options but very short window, didn't have 'time' to implement alternative treatments
  • Father moved to San Diago and met people in the integrative world
  • Al’s sister Tina passed away and this was the driver for Al to begin working with his father and Poly-MVA

When I've heard you speak you focus on not just your product, but on helping people really understand what's going on

  • Driven by desire to help and empower people
  • How metabolism and mitochondria play a role
  • Used to a system where you do as a the Doctor says
  • With cancer your options are chemo, surgery or radiation. If that doesn't work, you die
  • Common sense tells you there has to be more than that
  • Al's goal is to be a 'bridge builder' between conventional and naturopathic sides of medicine

Tell us about the concept of metabolic medicine and how it ties into mitochondria and cancer

  • With the flu you rest, take supplements, the immune system kicks in, body repairs itself, you're okay
  • Cancer is a whole different scenario but the approach is the same – fatigue, body is trying to fight it
    • By not supporting mitocondria we're not helping the body heal itself

Is the concept about giving the immune system more energy to do its job?

  • Yes, in its simplest terms
  • Rest is how our body restores itself
  • Metabolic protocols target the metabolism.
  • Metabolism needs to be at its highest level so the immune system, liver, kidneys etc can draw down on it for energy

What specifically are we talking about with cellular metabolism and mitochondria?

  • Mitochondria are the powerhouses of our cells. They provide the energy for them to function properly – repair, heal etc
  • Trillions of mitochondria are required in our bodies just to keep us going
  • Mitochondria have their own DNA
  • When you have cancer your mitochondria become dysfunctional and they start utilizing sugar differently to healthy cells
  • It’s more complex than simply avoiding sugar
  • 1/3 of calories go to the brain, 1/3 to processing/digesting, 1/3 is left for the rest of the body
  • Diet is critical for cancer patients in terms of how their body is able to fight cancer
    • Eat a low carb, high fibre, balanced amount of protein
    • The more natural the better

What's your take on cancer being a metabolic disease vs epigenetics?

  • It's both, there's a synergy
  • Epigentics and environment play a role, your genes play a role

What's the difference between anaerobic and aerobic respiration in terms of cancer cells using oxygen or not?

  • Cancer cells need a little oxygen but not in the same way normal cells do
  • Oxygenation is is the key differentiator between anaerobic (very low oxygen) and aerobic (oxygen)

Why is oxygen harmful to a cancer cell?

  • It creates a better environment in the body for healthy cells
  • Enhances metabolism, improves energy, promotes healing environment

Dr Paul Anderson Naturopathic Oncologist says "I don't care about your cancer cells as much as your healthy cells"...

  • Small tumor versus the whole body
  • Ensure body is as healthy as it can be then use targeted therapies to go after the tumor
  • Support immune system, oxygenate the body, support metabolism

Where does inflammation fall in all this?

  • Inflammation is irritation of the body
  • Prolonged irritation to any tissue means it can't function or heal
  • Overtime you get an abnormal cell
  • Cancer was once defined as "the wound that doesn't heal" due to lactic acid and low oxygenation
  • The body also uses inflammation as a trigger to heal
  • Problem is with continually high inflammatory markers
  • Turmeric and other antioxidants, IVs, hydration, oxygenation all help reduce inflammation

Isn't treating inflammation just like suppressing a symptom? Shouldn't we be going after the cause of the inflammation?

  • Often hard to determine the cause of the inflamation
  • Epigenetics mean diet and lifestyle looks different from one person to another
  • There's enough research out there to know what we need to avoid e.g. alcohol, inflammatory foods
  • Gut health critical for immune system and extracting nutrients out of food effectively

What turns a regular cell into a cancer cell? How does it form? What happens in the presence of inflammation, bad metabolic function, low oxygen etc?

  • Process is called acogensis - the birth of a cancer cell
  • In utero two cells come together to create a single cell - each bringing different information
  • This cell replicated many many times similarly to a cancer cell
  • At some point in the process this replication stops and cells get the directions to become the cells they're meant to be
  • Difference is these cells replicate under good healthy metabolism with controls
  • Cancer cells are missing the healthy metabolism and controls and gets stuck in the replication cycle
  • Wherever this cancer starts e.g. liver, skin etc is the 'type' of cancer diagnosed
  • Everyone has cancer cells in their body. They also should have the repair and anti-cancer mechanisms to deal with them

On the one hand it's simple on the other hand it's not...

  • The difficulty with cancer is that it's our own cells
  • By the time cancer gets to stage 3 or 4 it's established and has brought down the immune system
  • Then it's chemo, radiation or surgery which often doesn't work

Where does Lipoic Acid Mineral Complex fall in with all this?

  • Poly-MVA Founder Dr. Merrill Garnett was exploring Otto Warburg’s theory
  • Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) and Thiamine are cofactors of mitochondria energy production in the KREB Cycle
  • This cycle is where energy gets created, oxygenation takes place, sugar gets broken down and ATP gets produced
  • It's about producing energy but also transporting and utilizing that energy to do what needs to get done
  • Combining ALA and Thiamine creates a mechanism to support this pathway

So Poly-MVA supports energy production and transportation in a healthy cell while simultaneously impeding it in a cancer cell?

  • Not necessarily impeding a cancer cell
  • Apoptosis is cell death. A cancer cell has lost the programming to invoke apoptosis
  • However a cancer cell could receive a signal for apoptosis
  • If you start shuttling electrons or creating energy inside the mitochondria of a dysfunctional cellI it is possible to shut it down or restore proper metabolic function
  • ALA and Thiamine are cofactors in this approach, as well as oxygenation of the tissue

One of the main selling points of red light therapy is that it supports mitocondria. So people say a cancer patient doesn't want to stimulate mitochondria as you stimulate the cancer cell mitochondria?

  • Light therapies in general are photodynamic therapies
  • In its simplest form - plants need sunlight to grow
  • Cancer cells are undergoing glycolysis. They are no longer functioning metabolically as a normal cell
  • If you're aerobic, using oxygen, red light will stimulate
  • Cancer cells are survivors and adaptable

How does high intensity interval training help mitochondria? Are you getting the same benefits as a shot of Poly-MVA?

  • Exercising provides mitochondria, cells, tissues etc with everything they need to be efficient
  • Wouldn't recommend this to cancer patient as immune system is so low
  • Light exercise is beneficial. The more you engage the mitochondria the more you engage your metabolism
  • There are different state of metabolism when healthy
  • Metabolism provides energy
  • Bodies become less efficient when we age. Exercise improves efficiency

Poly-MVA also helps with the side effects of conventional treatment. Is that correct?

  • Right. It helps your metabolism and keep your mitochondria healthy
  • In Poly-MVA the ALA is bound together with the thiamine to create the redox molecule
  • Up regulates and protects the cell and supports mitocondria
  • Many naturopathic oncologists Ryan has spoken to recommend Poly-MVA to their cancer patients

What's the difference between oral consumption and IV in terms of benefits?

  • IV goes straight into the bloodstream. bypassing digestive system so tissues get higher concentration
  • IV helps advanced patients who need a lot of initial support

What are the dosing guidelines for IV Poly-MVA

  • Dosage is dependant on the physician's protocol and what is needed
  • Dr Paul Anderson provides online physician training

Anti-Cancer Therapies: Gut Healing, Hyperthermia, Ozone & Oxygen Therapy | Marcus Freudenmann & Ryan Sternagel01 Sep 202001:17:31

full show notes at https://thesternmethod.com/marcus-freudenmann/

Producer of the documentary “Cancer is Curable Now” and director of the Truly Heal Academy, Marcus Freudenmann has dedicated his life to educating practitioners and the public on ‘cause finding’ and alternative cancer therapies. Through his academy and training programs Marcus teaches how to treat cancer patients without treating cancer.

Marcus’ dream is to build a bridge between holistic and conventional medicine, based on trust, compassion, accountability, comprehensive knowledge and understanding.

***Resources Mentioned*** In This Episode:

Ryan was stoked to get Marcus Freudenmann on the show as unbeknownst to Marcus, his work holds a special place in Teddy and Ryan’s journey. Just days after receiving Ryder’s diagnosis they watched the documentary “Cancer is Curable Now” as they scrambled to learn all they could about cancer and every alternative treatment available.

In this episode Marcus tells of his journey travelling the world with his family to uncover the ‘cure’ for cancer. He thought he had reached a dead end until one particular doctor completely changed his thinking. Marcus realised it wasn’t the ‘cure’ he needed to find, but rather the cause. This became Marcus’ life’s mission and he’s since developed a framework for identifying and treating the patient, not the cancer. Marcus explains that it’s about what you remove, not what you add that kick starts the healing process. Ryan and Marcus also take a deeper dive into some of the treatments that Marcus recommends including hyperthermia and ozone therapies.

Thank you for making your documentary and attempting to put all the pieces together to show people a better way...

  • Marcus was an architect until a friend was diagnosed with cancer
  • The conventional process shocked and frightened Marcus. It became the catalyst that changed the direction of his life
  • He embarked on a global tour to film a documentary about alternative treatments to cancer, interviewing hundreds of experts
  • When another friend was diagnosed with cancer, Marcus recommended the best alternative treatments available. Nothing worked
  • He consulted leading alternative doctors asking why there was so much hype around treatments that didn't work
  • Came down to hope and patients wanting to believe in a cure
  • Marcus felt like giving up
  • He conducted his final interview for the documentary with Dr Rau from Paracelsus Clinic in Switzerland
  • Dr Rau told him he was asking the wrong questions
    • First ask “Why does the patient have the disease?” and second “Why does his body not deal with the disease?”
  • This changed the focus of Marcus’ work from the cure to the cause
  • It’s not about what we give the patient, but what we remove – not what we start, but what we stop doing

I'd love to hear more about your process of working with folks

  • Visited 114 clinics, spoke to 200 doctors, scientists, researchers
  • Some focus on mental/emotional factors, some on hormones, others on gut repair and diet
  • Problem most face is there is such a broad spectrum of causes of cancer
  • Children with cancer inherit their parents toxicity, DNA and lifestyle
    • In India children developed tumors from inherited toxicity from chemicals their parents working in the fabric industry were exposed to

How do you pick through what's going on with people?

  • Take people on a journey to tick off potential causes / factors
  • Treat the patient not the disease
  • Once on the right track the whole body begins to heal
  • Marcus’ friend began to heal through a treatment protocol that focused on removing things, not adding more:
    • First removed metal teeth fillings. Tumor progression halted
    • Next repaired detox pathways through anti-inflammatory diet
    • Then ozone and hyperthermia
    • Daily saunas and mud baths pull out toxins through skin
  • Marcus’ focus is on finding underlying problems. A list of over 200 questions

What was the trigger for your own gut issues?

  • Heavy metals in gut lining
  • Mercury fillings removed incorrectly
  • Experienced severe brain fog
  • Body was so toxic needed four years of detoxification and chelation
  • With ozone therapy he started to fully recover
  • It's about supporting our immune systems, emotions and how we live our lives
  • Research by Dr Mutter– bacteria can become toxic in a toxic environment
    • E.g. mercury combined with bacteria from root canal creates a new chemical that can destroy brain cells
  • Infection in combination with heavy metals increases toxicity and effects on the body

What areas do you cover in your questioning?

  • Start with gut health to improve the immune system
  • Look at infections
  • 65 different viruses, bacteria and fungus directly linked to cancers
  • Overgrowth can trigger disease and depression
  • Address deficiencies in vitamins and minerals
  • Remove toxins
  • Balance hormones
  • Systemic health. Test to determine what is out of balance
  • Marcus offers two training programs– one for professionals and a free course for individuals (patients or caregivers)
  • Changes to Google Search mean alternative health research is harder to find

We got hit by the Google thing too. It's an invitation to rediscover your trusted sources instead of Google being your 'trusted source'

What do you do once you've identified potential causes?

  • Marcus’ framework provides direction and next steps
  • Free training (7 videos)
  • Multiple solutions and methodologies. Often more than one is needed to get results

Hyperthermia

  • Can be a driver of big transformation
  • Heat shock proteins produced when fever is induced
  • Normal cells thrive in heat, cancer cells do not
  • Induce fever for 1-2 hours and bone marrow produces white blood cells
    • These are flushed into blood system to hunt out cancer cells

What is the difference between a standard infrared sauna and what you might find in a clinic?

  • Sauna is external heat to make you sweat – good for pulling out toxins through the skin
  • Hypothermia is the process of inducing artificial fever. Your core temperature is raised
  • Expensive treatment to do via a clinic. Marcus developed an at-home product called the Hyperthermia Dome

What’s the difference between the dome and a sauna?

  • The Dome produces long wave far infrared heat that penetrates deeper and heats up blood vessels quicker
  • Raises core temperature to 101.3-101.8F within 30-40 minutes
  • Once you reach this temperature you need to stay there for 1-2 hours for it to be effective
  • Traditional saunas don’t get core temperature high enough or quick enough
  • More information at hyperthermiaacademy.com

What treatments have you found that give the most bang for buck?

  • Treatments must satisfy the following criteria:
    • Stand the test of time
    • Supported by lots of research
    • Used in every reputable alternative clinic across the world
    • Main treatments Marcus recommends: Hyperthermia, ozone, PEMF for detox, excessive sport for detox
  • Treatments alone have limited results unless complemented with other treatments, supplements, systemic health etc

Money is a big factor for cancer patients! Treatments are very expensive. Ryan and Teddy are developing a course for people going through cancer, and one of the areas the course focuses on is how to raise money to fund treatments.

The final word from Marcus

  • Disease is a sign we are heading in the wrong direction. Use these signals as a motivator to live a better life
  • Building community is important. Share healing tools and devices with your friends, family and neighbours to spread the financial burden

In This Episode:

I’ve been trying to get Dr. Carol Lourie on the show for a while now but for whatever reason, the stars didn’t align. Well I can tell you, it was worth the wait! I brought Carol on to talk about homeopathy and cancer but we ended up talking about so much other good stuff that’s sure to help you on your own healing journey.

We talk about various fasting protocols to help improve the effectiveness of chemo AND protect your healthy cells AND reduce nausea! We look at homeopathic remedies to reduce the side effects of chemo and radiation, and Carol shares some of the supplement brands she uses in her clinical practice. Plus you’ll get some great recipes for healing smoothies and Bieler’s broth. It’s action-packed!

Is there a reason you’ve honed in on cancer?

  • Carol has lost family members to cancer
  • She looked after a friend going through cancer treatment. Over18 months  every appointment
    • Saw first hand what her friend went through and where she could help with her naturopathic skills
  • Began studying the enormous complex topic of cancer
    • Studied with Donnie Yance of the Mederi Foundation
    • Specialized in breast cancer

What conferences were you at recently?

  • Society of Integrative Oncology – Carol presented on intermittent fasting in clinic practice
  • Attended Advanced Applications in Medical Practice put on by Dr Paul Anderson
  • Dr Weber from Germany talked about using laser therapy to treat cancer
    • Uses very thin needles in the skin to apply the laser similar to acupuncture

You are a naturopathic doctor who focuses on cancer but you also have a homeopathy specialty…

  • Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, discovered homeopathy in late 1800’s.
  • Started experimenting with sulfur, phosphorus etc which he diluted until just the energy of the compound remained
  • This process makes homeopathy very safe. It won’t interfere with other treatments

Oncologists can be resistant to anything they perceive may interfere with chemotherapy

  • Carol aims for a positive relationship with her patients’ conventional oncologists
  • Advises her patients to follow this protocol around chemo infusions:
    • 2 days before infusion stop supplements and start intermittent fasting
    • One day after infusion start intermittent fasting
    • 2 days after, no supplements – just bone broth and Bieler’s broth
  • If you don’t get along with your oncologist, find a new one

What is Bieler’s broth?

  • In the 70’s Carol’s friend underwent a huge amount of radiation therapy for cancer before being told nothing more could be done for her
  • Found a chiropractor in New York who used Iridology detoxifying diet
  • Introduced Carol to blended salads and Bieler’s broth
  • Bieler’s broth recipe:
    • Green beans, zucchini, white cabbage, parsley celery, leaks, onions
    • Cook up and blend. No salt or pepper
    • Basic environment in the body as opposed to acidic. Cancer and disease love acidic environment
    • Less inflammation
  • Blended salad recipe:
    • Equal amounts of tomato, red pepper, celery, cucumber and lettuce
    • Blend with extra virgin olive oil and organic lemon juice
    • Lots of phytonutrients. Easy to digest
  • Other therapies at the clinic included:
    • 10 day water fasting
    • Epsom salt enemas (tbsp. Epsom salt, dissolved in boiling water and add to enema bag)
      • Philosophy was that Epsom salts pull toxins from the lymph
  • Clinic philosophy was to take the patient back to the ‘cellular time’ before they contracted the disease
  • Refeed properly after a water fast, otherwise benefits are lost
    • Purpose is to reduce sugar component in body

What is the Warburg effect?

  • Warburg was a scientist in Germany in 1924
  • He discovered that cancer most often choses sugar for energy
  • Carol works with her patients to reduce their glycemic index and starve their cancer cells of glucose
  • Intermittent fasting is very important when preparing for chemotherapy
    • Helps chemo become more effective. When cancer cells are starved they see the chemo and the accompanying steroids as sugar and absorb more of these. This helps protect healthy cells

What is your definition of intermittent fasting?

  • Lots of different terms:
    • Caloric restriction – restrict your calories by 40-50%
    • Dr. Mosley’s 5:2 diet – eating for 5 days, fasting for 2
    • Dr. Valter Longo recommends reducing calories and reducing what you eat
  • Carol recommends 600-800 calories per day, two days before chemo
    • Bone broth, veggie juice and Bieler’s broth
  • When you have chemo you want empty intestines. Uses laxative product such as Integrative Therapeutics Laxative Formula or Smooth Move Tea
  • Goal is almost diarrhea. Don’t want to auto intoxicate – if you have fecal material in your body and you go for chemo the toxins remain in your body longer than necessary
  • Ryan mentions the Fasting Mimicking Diet
  • Ryan recommends Oxypowder by Global Healing Center

Do you practice classical or clinical homeopathy or something else?

  • Many different approaches. Carol takes the approach most relevant to the person
    • Looks at the whole person and how that person’s ‘dis-ease’ is affecting them. Their unique symptoms
  • No one thing is going to help cancer. It is a very serious metabolic disease. Needs a lot of different protocols put together to address metabolic imbalance e.g. nutrition, mindset, targeted supplementation, iv therapy, lifestyle etc

How do you use homeopathy to mitigate radiation side effects

  • Homeopathic Carcinosin is a breast cancer remedy
    • Can buy from homeopathic pharmacy or practitioner
  • Carol does remote consultations. Practitioner list on stermmethod.com
  • Acute homeopathy good for mitigating the symptoms of conventional treatment
  • It’s the symptoms that are important in homeopathy, not the illness
  • To support patients going through radiation:
    • Avoid anti-oxidants as radiation created oxidative stress
    • Drink miso soup – 2 cups before 2 cups after
    • Fast before
    • Empty your intestines prior
    • Afterwards drink green smoothie or juice
    • Acupuncture
    • Take prebiotics and probiotics. Carol recommends Total Gut Protocol from Microbiome Labs
      • This protocol includes MegaMucosa prebiotic powder
  • Protect your gut when having chemotherapy too
    • One of the best things you can do to keep your counts up
    • Carol’s patients have better blood work
  • Remedy for radiation burns is Cantharis – 60 or 30c
    • Only take when symptoms are present. Listen to your body and follow the symptoms.
    • If symptoms change may need Rhus tox (better with heat) or Apis mellifica (better with ice cold), Belladonna (skin throbbing – whole being is agitated)
      • Available from Whole Foods
    • Dana Olman’s book on acute homeopathic remedies
    • Banerji Protocol can be used for protection against conventional treatment but it’s very individual so you need to see a practitioner
    • Detox combination remedies available from BioResource but Carol doesn’t use combinations in her practice

Can homeopathy reduce side effects of chemotherapy?

  • Yes. Must go into chemotherapy well prepared by doing all that is recommended above
  • Mint or ginger tea to decrease nausea
  • Ipecac – for nausea
  • Phosphorus – vomiting on food ingestion
  • Bryonia – nauseous if move
  • Pulsatilla – need fresh air, crying a lot
  • Neuropathy – Alpha-lipoic acid, vitamin B6, IV vitamin C to support through radiation
  • Hypericum – tea and homeopathic tincture for nerve pain
  • Borax - mouth sores, healthier intestines, better response to chemo
  • Carol recommends Natura Health Products – Digest Mend (powder)

In This Episode:

Conventional medicine was all James Templeton knew before cancer came knocking on his door. In this very personal episode James shares his journey with me. How he went from the depths of despair to hope and then health, thanks to the love and support of others and his alternative approach to healing.

In a time before Dr Google and Facebook Groups, James found the courage to forge his own healing path. We touch on three healing modalities James employed – a macrobiotic diet, high dose vitamin C and parasite cleansing; as well as the importance of positivity and mindset. So settle in and prepare to be inspired by James’ amazing story.

Where you naturally or holistically inclined before diagnosis

  • Not at all. No health problems
  • If sick went to conventional doctor

What were the signs you were sick

  • Life was good, young family, successful businesses, fit and healthy
  • Experienced a lot of death in his family. Kept fit to avoid heart disease
  • Went for check up for heart and doctor told him to get a mole on his back checked
  • Saw dermatologist who suspected melanoma
  • Biopsy results confirmed Stage 4 melanoma. He was 32 years old
  • Started regular check ups with Oncologist
  • Became depressed and anxious. Marriage broke up
  • Found lump in groin. Cancer had spread to lymphatic system
  • Oncologist recommended 80 treatments of experimental chemotherapy that involved typhoid serum to raise his temperature before administering IV chemo
  • All lymph nodes removed from leg
  • Given 20% chance of surviving 3-5 years
  • Felt hopeless. A Minister from his Church gave him a pep talk that changed his mindset
  • Prayers answered through a series of visits by friends and family
  • Given books about people healing themselves through diet and lifestyle
  • Started chemotherapy and a macrobiotic diet. Bad experience with chemo
  • Decided to get out of the conventional system before it killed him
  • Over 33 years later he’s still here and healthier than ever
  • Discovered a new purpose in his life - to help people

What is the macrobiotic diet?

  • Big in 70’s and 80’s
  • Based on:
    • 50% organic wholegrains (brown rice, barley, millet etc)
    • 25%+ vegetables (lots of cruciferous vegetables plus leeks, onions, garlic)
    • 10% beans and legumes (aduki, lentils, chickpeas)
    • 10% soup (unpasteurized miso soup)
    • 5% seaweed (wakame, aramee, dulse, kombu)
    • White fish soup once a week
  • Good for gut flora, no sugar
  • Chew each mouthful of food 50 times
  • Also incorporated visualization
  • Keep looking for new anti-cancer things to add to diet and lifestyle
  • Not on a strict macrobiotic diet anymore - be smart about what your body needs
  • Followed the diet for 6 years
  • Walks now instead of running. Move your body but don’t wear it out. Breathe
  • Believes his cancer was a result of stress, exposure to chemicals and issue with his immune system

You did a big parasite cleansing…

  • After several years living a macrobiotic lifestyle and supplementing high dose oral vitamin C, went to seminar on intestinal parasites
  • Was taking over 20,000ml Vitamin C per day
  • Lecturer told him he had a parasitic ‘look’ and recommended he get checked out
  • Saw an expert doctor in New York. Diagnosed with several different parasites
  • Tissue swab sample from rectum
  • The doctor told James he had never seen a cancer or AIDS patient who didn’t have some sort of parasitic infection
  • Took herbal remedy for three months
  • Parasites are immunosuppressive

What were the herbs you used?

  • Black walnut, wormwood, cloves
  • Unikey Health Systems, Para-key and Verma-plus
  • Digestive tract is 80% of your immune system
  • Keep yeast and fungus out of your body and build good intestinal flora
  • Parasites thrive on sugar

Why not go into this thinking you can beat it

  • Believing is everything, the mind is so powerful
  • Get away from anyone negative

In This Episode:

The topic of this podcast is one that’s particularly close to home for Teddy and I. When Teddy was pregnant with Ryder, she experienced immense amounts of stress from a negative work environment. We often wonder about the impact this stress had on our son and if it was responsible, at least in part, for his cancer. So it’s a topic I was really excited to explore, and there’s no one better to do this with than Dr. Lise Alschuler.

In this episode Dr. Lise explains the potential negative effects that stress can have on the body, including cancer progression and relapse, and what we can do to mitigate stress and anxiety in our lives.

What led you to becoming a naturopathic doctor specializing in cancer?

  • Took an undergrad class at medical school. Many people diagnosed with cancer shared their journey
  • Each person was unique, authentic, honest, courageous
  • Wanted to treat these kinds of people, so decided to get into oncology
  • Passion was in integrative medicine. Pulled out of medical school to study naturopathic medicine
  • Offered position at cancer hospital and discovered integrative oncology
  • Fascinated with the transformative element that a cancer diagnosis invokes in people
  • Dr. Lise’s father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Lived past his prognosis using integrative oncology
  • Two years later Dr. Lise was diagnosed with breast cancer and experienced integrative oncology firsthand
  • She felt healthy throughout conventional treatment despite side effects

Can you talk to the importance of mindset and effective stress mitigation strategies?

  • We often try to create linear relationship between cause and effect
  • Cancer is multifactorial – can't appoint blame to any one thing
  • Take control of what we can. Modify our relationship to stress
  • Latest research shows correlation between high levels of stress and cancer progression or recurrence, rather than initial diagnosis
  • Cancer rates increase amongst individuals who have experienced significant stressors in their lives e.g. death of loved one or marriage break up
  • Cancer cells have been growing for 10-20 years before they get large enough to be identified as a tumor. Stress can accelerate what's already present
  • Stress is just one factor behind tumor acceleration
  • All changeable through stress modification

What are you finding on the relationship between stress and prognosis?

  • Studies look at impact of the biomarkers of stress on cancer patient outcomes
  • Study on advanced breast cancer patients
    • Divided study participants by their circadian rhythms – healthy circadian patterns indicative of a healthy stress response
    • Study showed women with flat circadian rhythms had chronic stress and died sooner – highly statistically significant. Had less immune function
    • Cortisol suppresses our natural killer cells and other essential bodily functions
    • Similar results seen on studies of people with colon and lung cancer

The importance of social networks

  • Feeling socially isolated has a negative effect on prognosis
  • Not the quantity but the quality of connections with others

How do we know if it’s mental or external stressors behind the disruption of circadian rhythm as opposed to environmental influences e.g exposure to too much blue light?

  • Inflammatory cytokines are elevated throughout the body when there is a constant stress response
  • When stress mitigation strategies are implemented a positive change seen in circadian rhythms and inflammatory cytokines reduced
  • “Psychological wellbeing is like a firehose on inflammatory cytokines”

Note for parents of young children

  • Clear link between early childhood stress and adult susceptibility to cancer
  • An elevated stress response system becomes hardwired
  • Start stress modification techniques early e.g. meditation through guided imagery, creative play, good rest

How do you counsel people to get their mental well being under control?

  • Step back and look at the bigger picture – where is identifiable stress coming from?
  • What you change to bring more of yourself into the world in a positive way?
  • Other factors:
    • Sleep – enough, quality, hygiene, light exposure in the morning
    • Melatonin controls circadian rhythms and sleep. Often deficient in people with chronic disease

Aren’t there negative effects of supplementing something your body produces naturally?

  • Melatonin has a very short halflife. We don’t habituate to it
  • Melatonin has anti-cancer properties and is a potent antioxidant. Restores health of the pineal gland, reenabling melatonin production
  • In theory the body could develop resistance to melatonin. Long term users should take breaks and adjust dosage
  • Long-term use of any supplementation poses risks in terms of resistance
  • With kids, be conservative with anything in the hormone category

Back to stress mitigation strategies

  • Avoid sleep medication if you have cancer. Try a natural first
  • Regular, daily, vigorous exercise at the edge of your fitness
  • Exercise creates healthier circadian rhythms, fewer inflammatory cytokines, healthier immune systems, blood sugar control

What would say to someone going through conventional treatment where the last thing they feel like doing is exercise?

  • Still need to exercise but drop the intensity
  • General rule of thumb: recovery time after exercise should be no more than half the exercise time when on treatment. If longer to recover then over doing it
    • If lost muscle mass tai chi, yoga, walking are better options
    • Rebounding

What’s next after exercise?

  • Diet. Correlation between Mediterranean or anti inflammatory diet and lower stress hormones and inflammatory cytokines
  • Plant-led diet with no process foods – more resilience to stress
  • Refined sugar is a stressor
  • Majority of diet should be plant-based
  • Too much meat is carcinogenic

Plants and herbal medicine

  • Two for one – manage stress and anti-cancer potential
  • Diverse gut microbiome – prebiotics, high fibre fermets
  • Lower anxiety and better stress response, immune function and response to conventional treatment
  • Adaptogens – plants that can reinstate circadian rhythm e.g. American Ginseng Ashwagandha, Holy Basil
  • Brands Dr Lise recommends: Gaia Herbs, Vital Nutrients (Verified Quality is their consumer brand), Pure Encapsulations, Integrative Therapeutics (product called Cortisol Manager) and Solaray
  • To reduce anxiety, Dr Lise recommends L-theanine (in particular, products containing Suntheanine) and lavender extract. Silexan is a lavender oil formula that is used in supplements. Dr Lise recommends a Nature's Way product.

Mindfulness and meditation

  • Mindfulness starts with breathing. Exercises like the 4, 7, 8 breath
  • Great meditation apps. 10 minute guided meditations
  • Tai chi, yoga or qigong – moving meditation
  • Explore different types of meditation
    • Headspace and Calm apps are mindful meditation
    • There are other types e.g transcendental meditation and loving-kindness meditation

In This Episode:

I’m super excited to introduce you to Emily Fletcher! Emily is the person who reinspired me to get back into mediation and to stop making excuses when it came to making time in my day for such an important practice.

During the show Emily explains her Ziva Technique which is a powerful combination of mindfulness, meditation and something called manifesting (she’ll explain it all). The benefits of Ziva include decreased stress, deeper sleep, improved immune function and increased performance.

No matter what your situation, the value that mediation can bring to our health, healing and wellbeing is enormous – so be sure to make some time to listen to this one.

You have a cancer story that’s close to your heart...

  • Dad diagnosed with liver cancer
  • Went to cancer centre in Tampa with positive mindset – we can fix this
  • Centre sent him home to die
  • Emily began researching nutrition to feed his body, not the cancer
  • Got Chi (gold fish) machine from Japan to keep feet moving
  • Proton beam radiation machine
  • Other therapies: apple pectin, Floradix, Flor-Essence
  • Within 48 hours went from coma-like state to walking and talking
  • Quality of life significantly improved at the end. Got to say his goodbyes

Where do you stand on free will vs destiny?

  • Not mutually exclusive. Can’t control the hand we’re deal but can influence how we play it
  • One of the pillars of the Ziva Technique is manifesting
    • Getting clear about what you want to create in your life

Ziva draws on Ayurveda as a body of wisdom – is that right?

  • This type of mediation is a trifecta of mindfulness, meditation and manifesting
  • Ayurveda is the sister science
  • Understand the laws of nature to help you get to where you want to go
  • Helps you to be your own doctor
  • Getting body into balance
  • Ayurveda and Ziva Mediation promote a healing environment in the body

Cancer – acute vs chronic disease. How meditation helps

  • Cancer is an imbalance that needs to be balanced
  • We all have cancer cells but if the immune system working properly it can deal with them
  • If constantly in fight or flight mode your immune system is on the back burner
  • Stress – increases adrenaline and cortisol levels, body becomes more acidic, blood thickens, digestion slows, hormones and adrenals get out of balance, healing mechanisms shut down
  • If you need to heal you must treat stress very seriously
  • Mediation reduces stress and increases dopamine and serotonin

There is a huge amount of stress that comes with a cancer diagnosis.

  • What if there is no such thing as a stressful situation but only stressful responses to given situations?
  • Daily mediation helps to fill the tank with tools to deal with stressful situations more calmly

With a cancer diagnosis you still have to ‘perform’ while researching treatment options, fundraising and juggling doctors appointments with life etc

  • It’s not bad to get stressed. Problems arise when we stay stressed
  • Meditation helps you to recover
  • Stress comes from speculating – reviewing the past, predicting the future

When you’re meditating your body is performing stress relieving activities so you can do other things when you sleep

  • Meditation makes sleep more efficient
  • Insomnia happens when we use our sleep time to destress
  • Meditate once or twice a day for stress relief so when you go to bed you fall asleep faster and your sleep is more restorative
    • Get sick less frequently
    • Intuition increases, ruminating decreases
    • Productivity improves

How is the root cause of disease, cellular memory and emotional detox tied together?

  • Mindfulness is the art of bringing awareness into the present moment – good at dealing with stress of the ‘now’
  • Meditation is about healing stresses of the past – on a cellular and epigenetic level. Allows the body to heal properly – improves brain function, sleep, sex drive, intuition

What are your thoughts on using devices like headphones, music or special glasses to get into a meditative state faster?

  • All for cheating if it works
  • It’s important to be self sufficient, not tethered to electronics
  • We need to trust and train our bodies
  • External stimulation is not as powerful as internal stimulation
  • Mantras – mind vehicles not affirmations

Can you share some examples and stories from your students?

  • Fertility – lots of Ziva babies!
  • Helped reduce tremors in a student with Parkinson’s disease by increasing dopamine production
  • Meditation doesn’t cure cancer. It helps patients though the challenges and sets the immune system up to do its job if it has the ability to do so

Some last words

  • Often hear “I can’t clear my mind. I can’t mediate”. The mind thinks involuntarily. You can’t tell your mind to be quite, it’s a skill that must be learnt
  • Working on ZivaKIDS for 2020
  • Our bodies know how to heal. We just need to stop eating foods that aren’t food, looking at light that isn’t light, using soil that isn’t soil…

Ayurvedic Herbs and Cancer | Dr Virender Sodhi MD (AYURVED) ND & Ryan Sternagel24 Nov 201901:18:16

Full article @ https://thesternmethod.com/virender-sodhi

Dr Virender Sodhi was the first Ayurvedic and Naturopathic physician in the United States. From a young age, Dr. Sodhi knew he wanted to be a physician. This was a kid who would visit the village doctor and pretend he was ill so that he could take the prescribed medicine home, label it and add it to his growing “medicine cabinet”.

After moving to the United States, Dr Sodhi completed his ND degree at Bastyr University, Washington in 1988. The following year he founded the Ayurvedic and Naturopathic Clinic that he still practices at today.

It wasn’t until many years later, after dealing with cancer in his family, that Dr Sodhi turned his professional focus to oncology. Dr Sodhi completed a fellowship in Integrative Oncology with Dr. Mark Rosenberg in 2012 and a steady stream of cancer patients followed. Today he helps patients from around the globe using traditional Ayurvedic principles and integrative treatment protocols.

In This Episode:

I’m really excited about this episode! I’ve interviewed a lot of different health professionals about cancer over the years but this is the first time I’ll be exploring Ayurveda.

Ayurvedic medicine is the primary care model for hundreds of millions of people in India. Dr Sodhi talks me through what Ayurveda is and what makes it different from other Eastern medicine practices. We talk about some of the medicinal herbs used in Ayurvedic medicine – particularly the ones with anti-cancer properties, and how they can help patients as anti-cancer protocols and as integrative therapies alongside other alternative and/or conventional cancer treatments. Plus we’ll cover off where to find the best quality Ayurvedic herbs. Enjoy!

Can you start with telling us what Ayurveda is?

  • Ayurveda is thousands of years old. Deep-seated in Indian culture
  • The ayurvedic philosophy to good health is to live in harmony with and follow the laws of nature
  • Cancer is the prime example of what happens when we stray away from mother nature

How did you get into medicine and in particular cancer?

  • Born and raised in small rural village in Himalayas
  • His father was a school principal with a keen interest in medicine
  • Father taught him about plants and herbs and their medicinal properties
  • Began collected herbs and medicines. Even feigned illness to his doctor so he could add what was prescribed to his collection
  • When his father died of lung cancer, Dr Sodhi vowed to work in oncology. Didn’t happen until his sister was diagnosed with breast cancer years later
  • Completed his fellowship in Florida with integrative oncologist Dr Mark Rosenburg
  • Cancer patients started pouring in

Why is there such an emphasis on herbs in Eastern medicine?

  • Indian culture is very old and advanced in thinking
  • Historically India was the learning academy for the world
  • The Life of Jesus in India (YouTube video) - did Jesus go to India during the ‘missing years’ before return to Jerusalem?
  • Consider the behaviour of animals - they look, sniff, taste and if they like it they eat it. We need to use our senses in the same way
  • Close connection with mother nature is part of Indian culture
  • Native American culture is rich in herbology
  • Wild food foraging

How is Ayurveda different from other practices?

  • Mental, emotional, spiritual, physical - Ayurveda focuses on all these aspects
  • Cancer patients often have mental or emotional issues
  • Cancer is not one disease, group of many diseases
  • Most diseases are a result of lifestyle
    • Our food chain is contaminated, no safety data on chemicals in our environment
    • We need to drive change by not purchasing these products
    • Pesticides killing our gut microbiome

Do you provide the mental and emotional support?

  • Assess and provide tools but refers to others for ongoing support
  • Changing thought processes is key to long term health
  • We must create balance every day

What Ayervadic herbs would people be familiar with?

  • Turmeric and curcumin - helps with inflammation and changes gene behavior
  • Boswellia Serreta (Frankincense) - anti-inflammatory. Beneficial for neuroblastoma, bone cancers and sacommas
  • Ashwagandha - adaptogen that helps the body balance itself. Anti-angiogenic effect - restricts blood supply to tumors
  • Natural compounds have DNA and can communicate with the body. Synthetic drugs cannot
  • Natural compounds support the immune system
  • Immunotherapy gaining popularity
  • Neem - antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral. Creates autophagy in cancer cells (cell starves)
  • The immune system has the tools to fight cancer cells if it is working properly

How is your turmeric product different

  • Turmeric oils are not very bioavailable unless you add fat
  • Golden milk is a drink with milk and turmeric
  • Coconut milk contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) that help keep sugar away from cancer cells and make it more bioavailable
  • CoCurcumin uses MCTs to significantly improve the bioavailability of curcumin. CoQ10 is added to support cardiovascular and inflammatory function.  Trikatu, a traditional Ayurvedic combination of piperine from black pepper is also added to enhance turmeric absorption.
  • Metronomic approach to chemotherapy (micro / low dosing) is becoming more popular

How do you design an anti-cancer herbal protocol?

  • Ongoing learning process
  • Every disease starts with the mind
  • Looks at the whole picture
  • Food, digestion. Chew your food, eat mindfully, eat nutrient dense not calorie dense food
  • We want quick fixes when it comes to our health, but never the answer
  • Paleo dieters seem to have forgotten the gathering part from our hunter gather past
    • Hunting was exercise
    • Animals farm raised - changes composition of meat and fat
    • Portions too large

What are other go-to herbs for cancer?

  • Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia)
  • Amla - immune booster, lowers cholesterol, good for digestion
  • Ginger - destroys oncogenes, helps digestion
  • Onion and garlic
    • Eat raw to avoid destroying the active properties
  • Bacopa monnieri - brain support
  • Gotu Kola - collagen strengthen
  • Eat local and seasonal

Integrative use of Ayurveda with chemo

  • Amla protects the heart
  • Use ashwagandha alongside cyclophosphamide
  • Curcumin reduces side effects of chemotherapy
  • Livit-2 is a preparation of herbs that support the liver
  • In 12 years in oncology Dr Sodhi has not seen issues with combining the majority of herbs with chemotherapy

Where do you go to get herbs?

  • Need the best quality
  • Dr Sodhi grows and extracts himself
  • Recommends +Metagenics, Xymogen
  • Watch out for heavy metals in herbs
  • Dr Sodhi’s herbal company - Ayush Herbs

Cannabis for Cancer, Low Dose vs High Dose, THC vs CBD only | Dr Allan Frankel & Ryan Sternagel09 Nov 201901:00:09

Full show notes @ https://thesternmethod.com/allan-frankel

Dr. Allan Frankel is one of the world’s leading authorities on dosed cannabis medicine.

He started his career as a traditional doctor, but after an extremely serious health issue was reversed when friends introduced Dr Frankel to medical cannabis, he began researching the plant and its healing properties. In 2007 he sold his practice and became a cannabis doctor.

Now Dr. Frankel applies his knowledge of all aspects of the cannabis plant and its therapeutic value to the treatment of cancer and other serious medical conditions.

***Resources Mentioned***

In This Episode:

Cannabis has been widely shown to improve a cancer patient’s quality of life. In this episode, Dr Frankel gives me the run down on how he provides dosed, predictable cannabis medicine to his patients to help them manage the side effects of conventional treatment. Plus he shares the specific formula he uses to calculate the right dosage.

We discuss the anti-cancer properties of cannabis along with Dr Frankel’s own clinical experience of cannabis as an effective cancer treatment. We talk specifically about the benefits of whole plant cannabis vs isolates, and how the cannabinoids tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) can help manage pain, treat nausea and vomiting, and treat the anxiety that goes along with fighting cancer.

So if you’re considering adding cannabis to your alternative treatment protocol, this episode is a must-see.

What led you to become a cannabis doctor? Was it your intention to work with cancer patients?

  • Got a virus that went to his heart and was given 6 months to live without a heart transplant
  • Went to LA and friends introduced him to cannabis plants which immediately improved his mood and reduced anxiety. Within weeks he was running up the stairs
  • After this experience, started studying cannabis and its medicinal properties.

Are you seeing mostly cancer patients?

  • About a third are cancer patients
  • The dosing for anti-cancer is based on treating side effects of chemo
  • Dr Frankel follows low dose protocol used in clinical trials. Total of 130mg daily (30-40mg of CBD, THC, THCA and CBD A)
  • Acid molecules (THCA and CBDA) are gaining more attention due to specific anti-cancer properties

What’s the difference between hemp and cannabis?

  • The level of THC. Cannabis contains more than 0.3% THC, hemp is 0.3% or less
  • Dr Frankel recommends using the whole plant rather than stripping out a single molecule

Is oil the only option when it comes to therapeutic use of cannabis?

  • Salves can be used for pain and neuropathy
    • 30mg or more of whole plant CBD to prevent neuropathy
    • THCV reverses neuropathy
  • 30-40mg daily of each of the four cannabinoids is a good all round anti-cancer, anti-pain, anti-nausea treatment

Can you explain the dosing in more depth?

  • The actual THC or CBD in 1 gram of cannabis oil is around 750gm. The other 250mg is made up of other cannabinoids
  • DIY Formula to produce a reliable dosing tincture of 20mg per milliliter
    • You have 750mg or 75% CBD oil
    • If you want to take 20mg CBD a day then divide 750 by 20
    • Take this amount of a thin oil like MCT, coconut or olive oil and dissolve your ‘gram’ of CBD oil in it
    • You now have 20 mg of CBD per milliliter of your oil mix
    • Take ½ a milliliter 3 times per day
  • More cost effective to dose this way

If we have an internal cannabinoid system, does this mean we should regularly consume them?

  • Endocannabinoid system was developed 1.2 billion years ago, well before the plant-based cannabinoid system (fibrocannabiods)
  • Any species with a spine has an endocannabinoid system
  • The effects of cannabinoids on the endocannabinoid system can be measured
  • Anandamide, one of the components of our endocannabinoid system helps monitor and control cancer.
  • Cannabinoids can bump up our endocannabinoid system and this promotes cell apoptosis, autophagy etc of cancer cells
  • Most common symptoms of endocannabinoid deficiency is migraines, bowel problems. Fibromyalgia, anxiety, disrupted sleep. More common in females

What type of cancer patients do you see?

  • Most patients are on conventional treatment protocols alongside cannabis
  • Ballpark of patients who do well on cannabis alone would be 2 out of 3
  • Lower dose chemotherapy combined with cannabis to mitigate side effects and toxicity

Can cannabis prevent long-term chemotherapy side effects?

  • THCV can prevent and reverse neuropathy
  • CBD is protective of the brain and kidneys

What is THCV?

  • Only available in California
  • Raises your mood - treats depression
  • Mix with THC to treat migraines.
  • Shown a reduction in symptoms and ability to stop progression of parkinsons in animal studies
  • CBDA - best to treat nausea
  • THCA and CBD - bladder problems, repairs mitochondria, treats myasthenia gravis

How much do you take into account strains?

  • We don’t know enough about strains
  • Strains are defined by the other flavinoids, plant waxes and other molecules

What are your thoughts on high dose RSO (Rick Simpson Oil)? Sometimes people have good initial response with high dose then cancer comes back

  • Some people do well on RSO
  • Cannabis is a bimodal drug and has opposite effects with high vs low dose
  • 1gm dose is a very high dose - potentially toxic levels
  • Studies of low does (30mg daily) cannabis show great results

Do you see children in your practice? What considerations do you make when it comes to kids?

  • See autistic kids on anti-psychotics, ADHD kids on amphetamines and benzos
  • Cannabis much better options than these drugs

How would you dose a child?

  • Doesn’t dose by weight - start lower and see how it goes

Are there any interactions or complications you are aware of?

  • Cannabis and pharmaceuticals - depends on the dosing, type of cannabis and how it’s taken
  • Oral is biggest issue as both go through the liver
  • Whole plant medicine is different from isolate - dosage is lower
  • Biggest concern with isolates is that we may see more drug interactions

Any last comments?

  • Study showed CBD prevents tumors developing tolerance to chemotherapy
  • Dr Frankel recommends anyone with cancer to use cannabis medicine

  • Held onto a lot of guilt from childhood. Didn't want to have children for a long time
  • Stress from work and marriage break down
  • Maybe it happened for a reason? Use celebrity to help others
  • Mind, body and spirit needs to be in balance. Out of balance we are susceptible to dis-ease

  • Teaches you to be present in your life
  • Meditation and being grounded to the earth – key to good health
  • Make a point of looking at the everyday, the mundane with child-like wonder

How are you keeping cancer away for the rest of your life

  • Food is medicine. The reverse is also true
  • Stop supporting industrial farming
  • Stop using single use plastics
  • Clean up our homes
  • Consider WIFI, 5G etc as a disruptor to our energy field
    • WIFI is less than 20 years old. We don't know the impact on ourselves or our environment
  • Use landlines with cords - not portable ones
  • Who am I if not my word - you have to walk the talk which can be really hard
  • Keep improving along this journey of self refinement. But don't make ‘perfect’ the enemy of the good. To err is human

Five Secrets to Cancer Treatment: Episode Summary

Dr. Group's Personal Connection to Cancer

[00:03:19] Dr. Group shares his personal loss of both parents to cancer in his 20s, which led him to natural medicine and a focus on finding the root cause of cancer.

Research Journey in Natural Medicine and Cancer

[00:04:12] Starting in 1997, Dr. Group joined a research team aiming to identify the root cause of cancer, noting the low success rates of conventional treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. The research included traveling globally, consulting with cancer doctors, and studying various therapies.

Discovery of Cancer's Root Cause

[00:05:12] Dr. Group's team concluded that cancer primarily results from an accumulation of toxins and chemicals in the body, which hinder the body's self-healing mechanism.

Holistic Approach to Cancer Treatment

[00:06:12] The team advocated a multifaceted approach, addressing the patient's environment, spiritual, mental, and biological aspects.

Five Secrets to Cancer Treatment

[00:08:22] Dr. Group summarizes his 20 years of research into five key strategies for cancer patients, focusing on detoxification and addressing the physical, mental, and environmental factors.

Importance of Body Detox in Cancer Treatment

[00:09:29] Emphasizing body detox as the first step, Dr. Group discusses the necessity of removing accumulated toxins, which are often the initiators of cancer and other diseases.

Revolutionary Discovery in Intestinal Cleansing

[00:16:44] The research revealed the crucial role of gut health in cancer treatment, leading to the development of effective gut cleansing methods.

Tesla's Influence on Intestinal Cleansing Technology

[00:18:09] Dr. Group credits Nikola Tesla for pioneering oxygenation and ozonation technology, which greatly influenced their approach to gut health and cancer treatment.

Steps in Detoxification for Cancer Treatment

[00:21:16] Dr. Group emphasizes the importance of gut cleansing using oxygen-based intestinal cleansers and probiotics as the initial step in detoxification for cancer patients.

Liver and Gallbladder Cleansing

[00:22:33] The next phase in detoxification is liver cleansing, with the recommendation of three liver cleanses to restore liver functionality, influenced by Holda Clark's liver cleanse strategy.

Harmful Organism Cleansing

[00:24:41] The third step focuses on eliminating harmful organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, etc.) from the body, using products like oregano oil and wormwood.

Chemical and Heavy Metal Cleansing

[00:27:36] The final phase involves removing chemicals and heavy metals, potentially through chelation, to cleanse the body comprehensively.

Meditation as a Key Component

[00:32:35] Dr. Group introduces meditation as a critical element for cancer treatment, emphasizing its importance for mental and spiritual well-being.

Personal Experience with Meditation

[00:34:09] Sharing his personal journey with meditation, Dr. Group highlights its transformative power and its role in enhancing the effectiveness of cancer treatment protocols.

Meditation for Healing

[00:36:27] Dr. Group emphasizes the significance of meditation, particularly in the morning, as a powerful healing tool for cancer patients. He suggests 20 minutes of meditation to cultivate a positive mindset and reduce negative thoughts.

Visualization Techniques in Meditation

[00:37:57] Visualization during meditation, such as imagining the tumor melting away, is highlighted as an effective technique. Dr. Group references Bernie Siegel's method of visualization for healing.

Spiritual Development

[00:44:19] Dr. Group recommends daily spiritual development, irrespective of religious beliefs. This involves dedicating time for activities like watching spiritual videos, praying, or any practice that nourishes the soul.

Personal Development for Cancer Treatment

[00:46:25] Personal development is identified as essential for cancer patients. This includes engaging in self-help activities, radical forgiveness, and addressing negative emotions such as anger and fear, which are often associated with cancer.

Impact of Personal Development on Healing

[00:50:26] Dr. Group stresses the importance of daily personal development, suggesting that it can lead to significant improvements in a patient's life and aid in overcoming cancer.

Importance of Starting the Day Positively

[00:52:37] Dr. Group highlights the significance of starting the day with a positive mindset, which is crucial for cancer patients to develop faith, hope, and belief in their recovery.

Healthy Diet, Exercise, and Environment

[00:54:04] Emphasizing a healthy lifestyle, Dr. Group discusses the importance of diet, exercise, and a toxin-free environment. This includes eliminating toxic products from the home and focusing on clean air, water, and food.

Role of Fasting in Cancer Treatment

[00:56:51] Dr. Group recommends water-only fasting and intermittent fasting as effective dietary strategies for cancer patients, citing a study by USC on immune system regeneration through fasting.

Preventive Measures Against Cancer

[00:58:52] To prevent cancer, Dr. Group advises understanding the causes of cancer and making lifestyle changes. This involves choosing healthy alternatives in daily life, such as natural personal care products, organic foods, and regular body cleansing.

Teddy and I have seen first hand the powerful effects of Debora’s Biofield Healing Immersion method when she treated our son Ryder. Ever since I’ve wanted to do a segment on energy healing. Debora doesn’t disappoint, and there’s a special surprise at the end that even I didn’t know about!

We start by uncovering what energy healing really is and how Debora got into this area before moving on to energy healing for cancer and the different techniques available.

Debora surprised me when she offered to do a mini Biofield Healing Immersion session for listeners to wrap things up. Yes – the healing vibrations can be received just by listening – you don’t have to be there in person to get the benefits!

When we talk about energy medicine do we need a different mindset?

  • Thoughts and emotions release chemicals and effect our nervous and immune systems
  • Our energy field is based on understanding physics - light, energy, vibrations
  • We have everything within us to heal. We need to be taught how

What is ‘spirit’?

  • Spirituality and energy are different words the same concept

How does our inner environment influence our outer reality?

  • Inner = thoughts, emotions and energy
  • Negative emotions and feelings release chemicals
  • Choices become habits, habits become patterns
  • Our bodies are a physical expression of our inner feelings and emotions
  • Earlier tramas are relived as symptoms

Dr Lipton did extensive work on how thoughts and emotions manifest physically

  • Thoughts and emotions Influence blood chemistry and cellular membranes
  • Studies on stem cells and how their environment influences how they express themselves. We are no different – our environments impact us mentally, physically, emotionally

Intuition – are the answers within us?

  • Feelings are so important. Gut reaction, instincts, coincidence, nagging thoughts are clues
  • We are not taught to cultivate our intuitive sense
  • Intuition is a knowing. Often we let logic override our intuitive side or natural instincts

What is cancer from an energetic perspective?

  • All disease is a vibrational pattern that indicates disturbances in our energy field
  • By giving it a name or label we start to believe in it and give it power
  • We need to interrupt the pattern and restore harmony to the field

How important are physical toxicity and the toxic threshold?

  • Everything is energy. Everything that we are exposed to – fumes, chemicals etc has a different vibration
  • Our energy fields ‘collect’ these vibrations from our environment
  • Fastest way to clean out our energy field is by raising our vibrations through working energetically in our energy field
    • Results can be experienced very quickly, even instantaneous
    • ‘21st Century high speed healing tools’
  • Minimise negative vibrations by continuously learn how to find and release them

Are all energetic healing methods the same? Reiki, emotion code, healing code, quantum touch etc all the same things?

  • Debora is a reiki master. Now uses Biofield Healing Immersion
  • All methods have different techniques
  • Biofield Healing Immersion (BHI) is not a technique, it’s about accessing a state of consciousness
    • Trains people to access galactic wave lengths (high vibrational frequencies)
    • GDV (Gas Discharge Visualization) Device that illustrates energy fields around the body showed a 51% increase in energy and decrease in pain symptoms in one of Debora’s BHI sessions
    • Stage 4 breast cancer patient declared cancer free within a month of working with Debora using BHI
    • Debora has used many other techniques but has never seen these results before

Ryan, Teddy and Ryder’s energy work with Debora

  • Ryder complained of a cold sensation in his lower back where his tumor was
  • After working with Debora he stopped complaining of a cold back
  • Children are more in touch with how they feel. We don’t always know how to interpret these feelings
  • BHI helps achieve a deeper meditative state – a self healing, parasympathetic state
  • Improvements in Ryder’s cognitive ability, comprehension and speech
  • Patients who combine BHI and chemo report improved energy, decreased pain and more energy

Can the healing vibrations be transmitted by recording?

  • Yes. Debora does a short BHI session for listeners
  • Be safe: no driving, operating machinery etc. Make sure you are sitting down in a safe place
  • If you feel pressure on temples or even nausea this is a sign the vibrations are being absorbed
  • Helps to calm the mind
  • Fall into meditative state very quickly

The day of Biofield Healing Immersion

  • A group healing event Debora is running
  • BHI sessions plus healing information and insights
  • 50% off tuition fees for podcast listeners

I’d love to hear what you think of this one so feel free to leave a comment below.

What does Haelan mean?

  • Healing in Old English

Where did Healan 951 originate from?

  • Originally from China
  • Jordan’s father came across it in 1985
  • With the help top scientists he improved the formulation to what it is today

What is Healin 951?

  • A fermented soy beverage
  • Powerful food - immunonutrition
  • Not all soy is created equal, there are over 2500 species of soy
  • Haelan 951 uses organic, non-GMO soy grown in Mongolia above 3300ft elevation to eliminate cross pollination
  • Multi-stage fermentation process
  • 25lb of whole soy beans into an 8oz serving
  • Packed with anti-cancer compounds such as Isoflavones like genistein and daidzin, and protease inhibitors
  • Highly bioavailable

What does genistein do?

  • Incredible studies on this compound in PubMed
  • Genistein can down-regulate the N-Myc gene (a gene that can compromise survival rates in some children with Neuroblastoma)
  • Use search engines like Yahoo or Bing as Google censor alternative health search results
  • A hormone-like substance
  • Inhibits initialization of cellular pathways that lead to cancer
  • Stops notch signaling (regulation of immunity and inflammation in the body)

Why is Haelan 951 better than other genistein supplements on the market?

  • 5 compounds within the specific strain of soy bean work together synergistically
  • Often the RGCC test recommends genistein
  • More genistein per serving
  • Bioavailabilty is second to none
  • Out bodies only absorb 39-53% of supplements in capsule form. A lot of capsule content can be filler
  • Pure form of genistein, not synthetic. 99% purity rate, nearest competitor is around 91% purity
  • Very specific strain of soy bean

Protease inhibitors

  • Prevent synthesis of key proteins required for cancer cells to spread such as the the Bowman-Berk inhibitor that has a suppressive effect on cancer cells

Saponins

  • Latin word for soap
  • Plant steroid that foams when mixed with water
  • Within our bodies:
    • Induce apoptosis (death) of cancer cells
    • Fight free radicals
    • Improve immune function
    • Block signalling pathways that lead to cancer
  • Particularly effective for colon cancer

Phytosterols

  • Similar to cholesterol
  • Lowers risk of heart disease

Amino acids

  • Loaded with essential and branch chain amino acids

The soy / estrogen debate

  • Phytoestrogens (plant estrogen) are weaker estrogen
  • Received by the cell and ‘fills’ it up
  • Some cancers are estrogen driven so blocking this power source is good
  • Breast cancer patients who consume flaxseeds have seen reduced recurrence
  • The ‘aggressive’ estrogen comes from things like plastics and toxins in skin care
  • Haelan 951 comes in a glass bottle for this reason

Studies on Haelan 951

  • Induces growth arrest and apoptosis in pancreatic carcinoma
  • Classified by FDA as a food
  • FSWW08 was used as a term for Haelan 951 in blind or double-blind studies
  • Used by athletes
  • Study shows improvements in PTSD - balance hormonal issues with phytoestrogens
  • Benefits seen in hematology and cachexia (side effect of chemo)
  • Breast cancer studies
  • ALS studies

Is Haelan 951 covered by insurance?

  • Covered by some insurance companies
  • Need to file for reimbursement after purchasing the product
  • Haelan reps can help with questions
  • Follow steps to file for reimbursement - obtain a letter of medical necessity and a treatment authorisation request
  • Need to have Medicare supplemental insurance

The smell and taste

  • A very potent taste and smell
  • Recommend mixing it with Greens First, Calibr8 or chocolate flavoured stevia

Contaminant testing

Stage 4 Melanoma Survivor, Coley’s Toxins, Gerson Therapy | Bailey O'Brien05 Aug 201901:04:19

In 2011 Bailey was diagnosed with stage 4 inoperable melanoma and was told she had just a few months to live. Bailey didn't agree. After researching alternative options she radically changed her diet and jumped on a plane to Mexico for treatment and never looked back.

8 years later Bailey is cancer-free and is now helping others through their integrative cancer journeys.

Bailey is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and a Certified Square One Cancer Coach. Her focus is on diet and lifestyle as the foundation to health and healing.

In This Episode:

Bailey shares her incredible cancer journey starting from when she was first diagnosed with melanoma as a teenager to its recurrence 3 years later. In 2011, after multiple surgeries she was given the devastating news that her cancer was inoperable and she didn’t qualify for the latest new drug. Bailey felt hopeless. But with the help of friends and family she radically turned her life and health around and now inspire others with her amazing healing story.

Have you always been holistically inclined?

  • Studying dietetics as an undergrad
  • Didn’t agree with what being taught in nutrition classes
  • When working in conventional medicine, nutrition is secondary to pharmaceutical drugs
  • Believe in the power of nutrition as medicine
  • When healing from cancer food was the medicine

Is there a difference between what is learned to become a registered dietitian working as part of the conventional system compared to what we learn through ‘alternative’ channels like this?

  • Nutritionists and dieticians have mostly the right ideas
  • There are benefits of having first hand experience of healing through food
  • Conventional system can help with acute things like diabetes
  • Problems arise when the conventional system considers something ‘incurable’

What led to your diagnosis?

  • Was studying away from home
  • Fearful of the world and doing things on my own. Didn’t feel like I fit in
  • Very stressed and didn’t know how to deal with it. Started overeating
  • Sailing camp counselor - got a lot of sun exposure and sun burns
  • Used lots of toxic body products

After all your research, what’s your advice on sun exposure?

  • Sensible exposure - don’t get burnt, if you’re pale, be careful
  • Recommend non-nano zinc or titanium dioxide (although toxicity of titanium dioxide has come into question)
  • Recommends Badger Sunscreen
  • Regular sunscreen is full of toxic chemicals and can be more harmful than not wearing anything
  • Titanium Dioxide provides a physical barrier between sun and skin. The size of the particulars are important. Nanoparticles are small enough to get into the bloodstream. Look for non-nano sunscreen

Back to diagnosis...

  • Found a weird looking spot
  • Biopsy showed it was highly suspicious for a melanoma
  • DIdn’t know anything about cancer, just knew it was serious
  • Had surgery to remove legion and a tracer was injected to see where melanoma had spread
  • Tracer showed cancer had spread to lymph node near ear
  • More surgery, removed 45 lymph nodes from neck and parotid gland. Nodes removed were not positive
  • Given two options - do nothing or Interferon treatments (an older form of immunotherapy)
  • Opted for Interferon to help prevent a recurrence. Wasn’t doing anything else to support body in terms of diet and lifestyle
  • 2 years later melanoma returned
  • Two more 2 surgeries to remove tumors plus a round of radiation treatment
  • Found another lump under chin that was melanoma
  • Scan showed another 5 lesions in neck lung and spine that were suspicious
  • Oncologist recommended Temodar (chemotherapy pill) and PABA (b-vitamin)
  • Was told cancer was very aggressive and had only months to live
  • Started looking at alternative treatments

Where did you start?

  • Took some supplements and did one round of Temodar and PABA
  • Tumor started to shrink
  • Went to CHIPSA in Mexico and started the Gerson Therapy, Coley’s Toxins, B17 injections and IV Vitamin C
  • When left Mexico lump had disappeared from under chin
  • Before went to Mexico saw an integrative oncologist / naturopathic doctor who prescribed modified citrus pectin, resveratrol, green tea extract and glutamine powder during radiation.
    • Recommended high protein diet organic diet with no sugar. Not the perfect diet but heading in the right direction
  • Gerson therapy
    • Lots of juicing, vegetables and carbohydrates
    • Cancer result of nutrient deficiency and toxins in the body
    • Coffee enemas to detox
    • Potassium powder
  • Self vs non-self immune system model
  • Danger model - immune system doesn’t respond to things that are foriegn but rather to things that look dangerous such as surgery or infections
    • Cancer cells can have a ‘cloaking’ effect to ‘hide’ from the immune system
    • Damage a cancer cell through chemo the immune system can recognise it and respond
  • Preserve your immune system through low dose chemo not high
    • Immunotherapy can also help with stubborn tumors
  • Coley’s Toxins
    • Mixture of two different bacteria injected intravenously, subcutaneously or intratumorally
    • To stimulate an immune response in the body that attacks the cancer
    • Often people who go into spontaneous remission have had an infection
  • Came home from Mexico and continued protocol:
    • Coley’s Toxin - 3 injections per week
    • Coffee enemas - 3 per day
    • Juices - 13 a day with iodine and potassium supplements
    • B vitamins - intramuscular injections once a week
  • 2 months after Mexico went for scan - no sign of active disease

Did your Oncologist seem to believe in the alternative treatment?

  • Oncologist was so emotionless. Said “whatever you’re doing seems to be working so keep it up”

How do you guide others going through an integrative cancer journey?

  • Do your own research
  • There are somethings that people must do - diet, lifestyle and managing stress are the most important
  • Often people stop too soon. 18 months to 2 years minimum
  • Recommends using prayer for guidance and healing

What is the right way to address cancer?

  • “Every good health measure is an anti-cancer measure”
  • Cancer is a wake up call
  • Three fundamentals:
    • Nutrition - offload all of your ‘bad’ foods for you
    • Emotional detox - often a trama or shock before cancer diagnosis. References the work of Dr Hayma.
    • Reduce chemical load - reduce chemical exposure
  • “You don’t need zero of everything to see a result” but you must make changes to address the root cause of the cancer

Starting points for physical & emotional detox?

  • Punk psychology is a technique
  • MIN - Make It Now
  • Your memory is ‘plastic’ - change the impact of a memory and your relationship to it by reliving it in the right way
  • Remove toxins from your life
    • The nose survey - go around your house and sniff - if you can smell it it can make you sick
  • Eat organic. Evidence shows organic food has a powerful impact on health
  • Séralini and a group of French Scientists fed rats glyphosate and GMO food and they developed huge tumors

How do you assess the validity of alternative cancer treatments?

  • Testimonials are not science - you can get well while taking something but not necessarily because of taking something
  • Anything that seems dangerous, ineffective or obscenely expensive should be a red flag
  • Kerala Institute in Sweden showed 20% of breast cancers will go into remission without any treatment
  • Dr Hyman - cancer has a purpose. It’s there for a reason. The body is trying to fix something

Protocol 1 debunked: Cancell / Cantron / Protocel

  • Combination of highly toxic substances including sulphuric acid and nitric acid
  • False science around its effectiveness
  • These chemicals are highly toxic - yes they will kill cancer cells in a petri dish - they will kill anything!
  • People have died from taking it. Don’t do anything that is clearly going to hurt you

Protocol 2 debunked:  GcMAF

  • Beware of science from anyone trying to sell you something
  • The study was dishonest. The people who developed it have a warrant out for their arrest
  • Nothing showing its effectiveness, especially when compared to Dr Keith’s three fundamentals

Protocol 3 debunked: Hulda Regehr Clark’s Zapper

  • Exploited patients by charging $30K for things they could do themselves
  • Her book claims she cured 100 consecutive cases of cancer but in all of these cases Hulda was the person who diagnosed the cancer and pronounced the patient cured
  • Developed a parasite zapper to cure cancer
  • Dr Keith believes Hulda was influenced by her own condition - she had a particular rare parasite and so she saw that in everyone she treated
  • Irreversible electroporation is Royal Rife technology that’s gone mainstream

Protocol 4 debunked: The Marshall Protocol

  • Documented science showing Vitamin D has incredibly powerful anti-cancer properties
  • The Marshall Protocol advocates avoiding Vitamin D in any form which is dangerous for anyone with cancer
  • Vitamin D, C and glutathione are essential for cancer support
  • Joe Mercola wrote an article expressing his views against the The Marshall Protocol

Protocol 5 debunked: Sodium Bicarbonate Protocol

  • Fungus can thrive when immune system and so does cancer - doesn’t mean Candida causes cancer
  • Loading the body with bicarbonate is dangerous
  • The body needs PH of around 7.3. The body will maintain this so it puts undue strain on kidneys
  • Alkalising the body doesn’t cure cancer
  • Emanuel Revici studied the metabolic aspects of cancer. Discovered two kinds of people - those who benefit from alkalization and those who benefit from acidization. If you don’t know what group you’re in your going to harm yourself.
  • William Kelley Eidem sums up Revici’s work in his book The Doctor that Cures Cancer
  • Nature knows what she’s doing. Stand back and get out of the way.

Protocol 6 debunked: Fake Rife Machines

  • Most ‘Rife’ machines are missing critical carrier wave frequencies. They have only audio frequencies and that’s not enough
  • You can add carrier wave technology to something like the Beema 3000
  • The GB4000 is what we use. This device has carrier frequencies and is a model Dr Keith would recommend

In This Episode:

I uncover Kate Shemirani’s amazing healing story.

In 2012 Kate was diagnosed with Acute Lobular Invasive Grade 3 Breast Cancer with a high pleomorphic presentation. After undergoing a mastectomy, Kate refused chemotherapy and instead turned to the Gerson Therapy and other integrative treatments to heal herself.

Prepare to be inspired and entertained by Kate’s candid interview!

Kate was not always health conscious

  • 53 years old, mom of four, type A personality
  • Busy raising her kids and building a business
  • In an abusive relationship
  • Drank gallons of tea and coffee a day
  • Lived off her kids leftovers and chocolate

The diagnosis

  • Started experiencing problems with her breast augmentation. Symptoms included ectopic heartbeat, arthritis, decline in vision, menstrual cycle changes, migraines, breast pain
  • Couldn’t loose weight even with extreme exercise
  • Tired and fatigued
  • Changes in personality
  • Her cat continually patted her right breast at night. Found a gritty lump around where the cat kept patting
  • Mammogram came back negative. Sought a second opinion. Ultrasound revealed many tumors
  • Biopsy confirmed breast cancer. Was advised to have a mastectomy and possible chemo

A conventional start

  • Private medical insurance
  • MRI and full bone scan
  • Surgery removed right breast
  • Her husband believed in cause and effect. He started researching and found Dr Patrick Vickers
  • Kate took two books into hospital - The China Study and Max Gerson’s Results of 50 Cases. She started reading and felt like she’d made a huge mistake
  • Wounds weren’t healing. Complications with surgery

Kate’s alternative approach to healing

  • Overnight Kate went from doing nothing to drinking 30 juices a day plus coffee enemas
  • Wounds healed beautifully
  • Added mistletoe injections to the Gerson Therapy
  • Referred to practitioner Katherine Alexander. Kate found she was deficient in ferotine and T4 was low
  • Added the B17 tablet protocol and lypo spheric Vitamin C
  • Takes Freeing the Sun (Chinese herb) to clear methylation pathway in liver and metabolize estrogen

A journey of discovery

  • Breasts need iodine, and that fluoride, chlorine and bromine promote iodine deficiency
  • Alcohol switches on the breast cancer gene
  • Make up and perfume, air fresheners elevate estrogen
  • IVF increases your breast cancer risk
  • Refined, white sugar impacts eyesight
  • Diets high in animal protein, reduce T-lympocytes that kill tumors, viruses and fungus

The results of Kate’s protocol

  • Eye sight improved
  • No more joint pain, pimples, sinusitis or atopic heartbeat
  • During detox, Kate’s abdomen became swollen with gas. She experienced toxic headaches, chills and fevers as her body dealt with toxic overload
  • Came off mistletoe injections to enable body to naturally produce an immune response
  • High temperatures and flea bites were signs Kate’s immune response was improving
  • No pain killers when her breast implants were changed. Juices and coffee enemas helped pain subside
  • Nipple reconstruction surgery done under local not general. Procedure relies on scar tissue to make the new nipple but Kate’s body broke it down
  • Oncologist recommended Kate remove her ovaries. She decided to keep them and bring her estrogen down naturally
Asked her Healing Code to put her ovaries to sleep. Instant menopause without a single hot flush

The ‘Gold Standard’ of care in the UK

  • The UK public health system does the mastectomy differently to reduce theatre time and costs. Higher risk for the patient and all nodes in arm are removed even if they are not cancerous
  • Can’t customize treatment in public system
  • Recommended treatment protocols often based on opinion not evidence
  • Cancer charities work with drug companies creating a conflict of interest
  • Public are desensitized to cancer treatment. Advertisements make people believe they need to be bald and sick before they can heal
  • Trained in the Beckers Health Belief Model - a patient must deem the risk so great that they accept the treatment
  • The UK’s cancer act of 1939 - anyone who advises a patient on alternative ‘cures’ for cancer will go to prison for 3 months
  • Ignorance is no excuse - medical practitioners and dietitians have a duty of care to educate themselves

052: Sound Healing, Vibration Therapy, Healing Frequencies, Sleep Remedies | Michael Tyrrell16 Jul 201901:25:02

You are really going to like this episode all about vibration and the healing power of sound with Michael Tyrrell.

Michael is an author, visionary, musician, composer, and producer.

He exists to bring love, healing and motivation to a hurting world and in turn, inspire others in our generation to do the same.

***

This topic definitely falls firmly into the energetic side of the healing spectrum.  If you are skeptical or doubtful of such things, I would refer you to everyone’s favorite Nikola Tesla quote, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

In This Episode:

The power of frequencies

In this episode, Ryan catches up with songwriter and producer Michael Tyrrell to discuss the healing power of frequencies and music, and why most music we listen to today is delivered at the wrong frequency.

Frequencies are everywhere

Every time you speak your voice box vibrates and creates a frequency. When you form words your tongue vibrates and that's a frequency too. Music creates frequencies and some fo these frequencies have the power to heal.

Not all frequencies are healing

A musician all his life, Michael knew from an early age that there was something wrong with music. Frequencies are measured using unit of measurement called Hertz (Hz).

Michael wanted to know why tuners calibrated at a specific frequency (440 Hz). “Who says this is how you must tune your instrument?” Micheal discovered through traveling the world that not everyone tunes to the same note.

Micheal wanted to know where the standardized A=440 Hz frequency came from. What he discovered shocked him. This frequency has an attachment to Nazi Germany and mind control, and is a frequency that can disrupt the circadian rhythm of the human body.

Micheal’s story

Fate or God brought Michael to a coffee house in Tel Aviv, Israel where he met a pianist called David who told Michael that when he woke up that morning God had told him he was to give his life’s work away today.

David spent his life studying and decoding the ancient psalms of King David –  ancient Hebraic forms of music. He gave these manuscripts to Michael in a backpack. Michael got home and played some of the music but his guitar was still tuned to 440 Hz. He put the music in his study and forgot about it for two years.

Michael came home one day with the number 222 in his head. He reached for his Bible wondering what he’d find on page 222. Sure enough he found reference to Kind David. He instinctively knew to double the number 222. 444 is a derivative of A but 4 cents higher. Michael calibrated his guitar to 444 Hz, pulled out the manuscripts from David and started playing. His hairs stood on end - he could feel the music.

Healing frequencies

Michael explains that 444 Hz is a balanced frequency. Instruments become more stable and stay in tune longer at that frequency.

Michael has discovered 7 frequencies that have been used to heal and protect since ancient times. He has created a compilation of music using these healing frequencies called Wholetones®: The Healing Frequency Music Project.

The power of the spoken word

Ryan and Teddy have been working with an energy healer who told them that Ryder had “a summer heat” trapped inside his body. For the next two nights Ryder woke up drenched in sweat as the heat was worked out of him.

Ryan explains that ancient writers associated the constellation Cancer with ‘a summer heat’.

Michael explains that words in descriptive and energetic forms have the ability to bless or curse. Michael encourages people to speak life to each other. If we can get out of the ‘them versus us’ mentality we can change the world.

Michael reminds us about the law of vibration and that the beginning of the universe was spoken “Let there be light”. “Frequencies were introduced into the world by the mouth of God.”

The importance of higher vibration

Michael believes that cancer is a disease of the environment. “We are being bombarded by negative frequencies such as EMFs”. Michael focuses on creating energetic environments of peace and sleep, that are conducive to healing and help people to relax and smile. He wants to help people into a space of homeostasis and spontaneous healing.

Michal explains higher vibration is better than lower vibration. “Negative people are low vibration. When you’re a high performing person frequency wise you operate with a lot of love.”

Micheal recommends making sure the frequencies you use are congruent and balanced, can interact with each other and can elicit healing.

Royal Rife 120 Hz frequency

There are specific frequencies that are useful for different parts of the human body and some frequencies that are too close to one another can mask each other.

Other experts and resources

Michael believes frequencies can affect your body on a cellular level. Ryan references Biology of Belief by Dr Bruce Lipton which discusses how thoughts can change blood chemistry, epigenetics etc.

Michael talks about Nicola Tesla and his studies on frequency. He created the Pico-Tesla frequency. Tesla believed that by vibrating parts of the body with low amplitude frequency he could bring spontaneous healing.

Michael cites another example, Dr Jerry Jacobson and his Magnasphere, a frequency arch that works on Pico-Tesla frequencies. Michael explains that he healed himself of Laryngitis after 15-20 minutes in the Magnasphere.

Michael has written a book called The Sound of Healing to help people unlock their potential.

The best way to listen to frequencies

Ryan asks Michael the best way to listen to frequencies. Michael explains that the problem is truncation or compression. “When you digitize anything you’re converting wave form into numbers”. So the best way to experience frequencies is in analog. Michael records Wholetones in analog. However he goes on to say that MP3s are better than nothing. The Wholetones samples on Michael’s website are MP3s.

Michael recommends Sonos Sound Systems.

Ryan asks Michael about different instruments. Micheal explains the frequencies are all the same it’s just a different modality - humming, crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls etc. It doesn’t matter about the instrument - just as long as it’s a balanced, healing frequency.

Michael encourages a proactive approach to health “don’t wait until sickness arrives before making changes”.

Sleep disorders - a modern day anomaly

“Why are people sleeping less?” Michael explains that EMFs, 5G, photonic energy and wifi are all disrupting our sleep. “If you’re not sleeping 6-8 hours a day your body cannot heal.”

Michael remembers the times he slept the most soundly was in his mothers arms. She sand him lullabies - the song, creating soothing vibrations.

Michael has created Wholetones Sleep, a collection of lullabies. A nurse once told Michael that Wholetones should be the soundtrack for the entry and exit of every human in the world it was that calming..

Michael has created a Wholetones player to deliver the music at maximum quality.

Michael tells the story of the Wholetones launch party where everyone fell asleep. The joke is that the song on the album Angels All Around Us is “the song no one’s ever heard the end of”.

But the medical community want scientific evidence so Michael conducted a clinical trial with control groups. The results were conclusive - trial participants that listened to Wholetones fell asleep faster, stayed asleep longer and woke up feeling more refreshed than those who didn’t.

Michael explains that for some people the effects of Wholetones work straight away while others need more repetition. Volume is also not important when working with frequency as long as it’s audible.

Ryan’s quote of the day, “Trust in God but row away from the rocks”.

051: Ketotarian - Plant Based Ketogenic Diet, Addressing Criticisms of Ketogenic & Plant Based Diets, Ketosis and Cancer: Dr. Will Cole 02 Aug 201800:48:33

Review Article & Resources Mentioned

This is episode 51 of Integrative Answers to Cancer with Dr. Will Cole.  Another repeat guest to the show but a very timely one.  If you listened to last week’s episode with my son Ryder’s original naturopathic oncologist and also foremost in the country Dr. Paul Anderson after we’d saw a bit of unexpected growth on his last MRI he was talking about some of the success he’s had with a ketogenic style diet in combination with other metabolic therapies but he also mentioned that most people who promote the ketogenic diet stupidly in his words, meaning people should be talking about plants a whole lot more than they do and another previous guest of the show Doctor Will Cole who was on back in episode forty to talk about functional medicine in cancer has a new book out on a plant based ketogenic diet so I figured it would be good timing to get him on and pick his brain on that.

And as you know we’ve had some pretty strong opinions on ketosis both ways from guests of this show and one of the primary complaints was that again so much animal product consumption is promoted which Dr. Cole is obviously addressing with his book but I also wanted to as long as we were at it to to bring up as many other criticisms or complaints I’ve heard along the lines of a ketogenic diet just being flat out unnatural plants or no plants and as it pertains to cancer in particular the lack of available data on long term survivors and I liked his answers and hope you do to.

By now hopefully you know about us we try not to completely close ourselves off from any new information or not go too deep down any one rabbit hole and always keep the big picture in mind and ask how new information fits into it and I think this interview does a good job of that.

Metabolic Therapies, Keto vs. Gerson, Mature Cancer Cells, Using DCA: Dr. Paul Anderson25 Jul 201800:57:03

Dr. Paul Anderson consults on:

  • Synergistic metabolic therapies
  • Ganglioneuroma & mature cancer cells
  • Ketogenic vs. fruit sugar approaches
  • Neurological tumors
  • DCA efficacy for cancer & safety

Resources, Supplements & Studies Mentioned / Summary Article

As it relates directly to this podcast and everything we do online the other thing that’s happened to us recently which I believe I did mention in the intro to the last episode before we went dark was our son Ryder’s own MRI not going exactly the way we wanted it.  He’s got a remaining mass on the inside of and around his spine that everyone was pretty well convinced was just dead scar tissue at this point but a portion on the outside of the spine had grown a bit over the past year since his last scan.

So, with that, everything we’ve done online has been a result of our son being diagnosed with cancer in the first place obviously and documenting what we learn along the way but with this MRI this is getting taken to the next level.  So a lot of what you see and hear us do is going to be directly recording conversation we’re having or actions we’re taking pertaining to Ryder’s healing.  As that relates to this podcast specifically you’re going to hear actual conversations we’re having with naturopathic doctors and healers of all kinds in addition to the more classical style of interviews you’re used to and that is what we have here for this episode today.

Doctor Paul Anderson makes his third appearance on the show right after being the first ever second time guest but this time it’s in a more consultative role picking up where he left off as Ryder’s original and best I might add naturopathic oncologist.

049: Cancer in Germany vs. America19 Jun 201800:58:57

Kirstin Nussgruber Discusses:

  • Her experience going through cancer once in Germany and once in America
  • Change from within, where the cancer came from
  • Keeping feelings and emotions together during treatment

Video Interviews and Anticancer How-To’s

Anticancer Inspiration

After being diagnosed with breast cancer twice within 3 years, Kirstin learnt firsthand the importance of an integrative and functional medicine approach to one’s health, acknowledging the dynamic interdependency of body, mind and soul to facilitate true healing.  Kirstin offers individualized 1 on 1 mentoring, can be hired for inspirational speaking engagements and produces interactive virtual programs such as the Beyond Cancer Program.

if you’ve ever thought that Sternagel is a very German sounding last name, well it’s because it is it means star and nail which I’ve always thought is pretty cool and will make for a really cool family crest or something some day but the other reason is that it actually has to do with one of the primary topics of the interview.

Kirstin is incredibly well versed in a balanced approach to cancer because she’s gone through it twice, one time in Germany and once in America so it was really interesting talking about the differences in what it’s like to go through cancer in each country and in particular there were a few great insights for those of us going through it in the good ol’ USA.

We also talked about changing from within as the cancer came from within and please devote an inordinate amount of time to this topic if you are going through cancer and on a related note how to keep it together while going through active treatment.

I say full length interview because we did have doctor Ed Group back on recently to finish his two part miniseries on water fasting answering all of your questions and if you haven’t caught that one definitely go back and check it out but as far as a full length solitary interview doctor Anderson is our first repeat guest which is awesome because he just so also happens to be the naturopathic oncologist that saw us through the most difficult time of Ryder’s recovery from cancer right at the start.

And back then four years ago now I was incredibly impressed at the way he was able to answer all of my questions on literally everything I had managed to scour off the internet before seeing him, and that was a lot.

After we moved states we lost touch for a little while and we had some rather disappointing experiences with other naturopathic doctors and then when I started to go to integrative cancer conferences to learn everything I could for Ryder and all of you as our online presence started to grow I came to see he was actually the one teaching all the other doctors at these conferences so they all had some pretty big shoes to fill with us as it turned out!

  • How she brought her son back from a point two five percent chance of living at all with even less of a chance of walking or adequate mental function to living a full and happy life today.
  • How she stayed operating at 110% day in and day out for months on end to get her son the care he needed.
  • The most selfless thing you can do in the role of a caregiver is to take care of yourself first.  Bold statement but I’m quite sure you’re going to like the explanation.

This was a really, really meaningful interview for me to get to record.  Most of you know the story by now that Teddy and I were getting really into health and fitness for a good period of time before Ryder was diagnosed so we were able to hit the ground running from a research perspective but mostly because of JJ and only JJ also from mindset perspective. We’d heard an interview with her early on talking about the traumatic brain injury her son sustained that all the doctors told her he had little to no chance of living through and the mindset she kept going through it to stay operating at a hundred ten percent for her son and it resonated so much with us we started following her because of it and not long after that Ryder was diagnosed and we did go into that thing guns blazing much more so than if she had never put that spark in our minds.  So yea, very meaningful for us. 😊

  • And yes, for all of you that listen to every show you did hear a couple tweaks to my little opening I say every time there most notably dropping the part about the show being for people going through cancer by people going through cancer.  Partly because I’ve been feeling in general it didn’t quite properly encapsulate the what we’re trying to do with the show but more so we realized that we didn’t really want to be projecting onto ourselves that we’re going through cancer and we certainly don’t want to be projecting it onto you just for listening to this show so it’s out of there.  Fun fact for its first couple months in existence our side was called my kid HAS cancer until someone reached out and pointed out that if our plan was for our son NOT to have cancer then perhaps it wasn’t the wisest thing to name our website.***
  • ***Same sort of thing here and it ties in nicely with the content of today’s interview come to think of it!  That and with Teddy’s segment of the show coming out soon an making a supercharged anticancer life work for your whole family this is probably not the last change in the very near future you’ll see in how we go about everything so please pardon the dust during construction as the saying goes.***

041: Biohacking Cancer, Deuterium, Structured Water, How EMFs Cause Cancer, How Would Ben Greenfield Reverse Cancer with Ben Greenfield19 Feb 201801:03:57

Ben Greenfield of BenGreenfieldFitness.com discusses:

  • EXACTLY how non-native electromagnetic fields (WiFi and cell phones) cause cancer.
  • What would Ben Greenfield do to reverse cancer?
  • Deuterium isotope linked to cancer showing up at higher levels in food.
  • Drinking deuterium depleted water (light water).
  • Home air purification.
  • Building biologist consultation to ensure your home is a healthy home (not a harmful home…)

Using his vast knowledge of science and research, in-the-trenches experience, and unique set of cutting-edge brain and body biohacking techniques, Ben cuts through the clutter, confusion and snake oil and instead delivers total human optimization in the fastest, cleanest and safest way possible.

And this was a very, very cool interview for me to get to do.  Teddy and I have looked up to Ben for such a long time it was surreal to actually get to pick his brain.  And this certainly isn’t the first time I’ve made a statement similar to this about a guest we’ve interviewed on the show but it’s usually referring to someone we started getting information from AFTER Ryder was diagnosed whereas Ben was one of the first people we started getting health and fitness information from period.

I started following him originally for better triathlon performance but as you’ll see in this interview if you’re not already familiar with him the type of information he covers goes far beyond training into all aspects of how the body is ideally supposed to function and the mind and soul for that matter and this very quickly bleeds into disease prevention and reversal and really through following him again originally just to trying to get a little faster marathon and triathlon times that I’d say more than anything else really turned my mind onto what’s possible with the human body so when my own son was diagnosed with cancer not too long thereafter we were able to hit the ground running in our research.

This I feel was a very important episode for the show and for those of you going through cancer to understand as we’ve had reference to functional medicine and guests on who practice it in the past but no straight up interviews on this is what it is, this is what we look at and this is how it can help in contrast or maybe better yet in addition to your conventional care team and even your naturopathic doctor in a lot of cases.

Wide ranging interview but a very good overall theme of identifying and addressing core issues to problems that others may miss that I think is going to give you a lot more firepower when it comes to questions to ask health practitioners you’re either currently working with or those that you may be evaluating to be sure you’re really getting the best health bang for your buck possible.

Timestamped Episode Summary

Founding of Haven Holistic Health Center
  • [00:01:26] Dr. Orton and Dr. Orata established Haven, a holistic health center in Chicago, to address the lack of truly holistic healthcare. They focus on creating individualized health programs to educate and empower people to optimize their health and recover from chronic illness.

Critique of "Green Allopathy"
  • [00:01:45] Dr. Orton criticizes the practice of "green allopathy" in alternative medicine, where supplements are prescribed in the same way as drugs without addressing the underlying lifestyle issues that contribute to chronic illness.

Foundations of True Health
  • [00:02:36] Emphasizes the need for health plans that address foundational lifestyle factors, such as daily habits and mindset, which are crucial for achieving and maintaining health.

The Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:03:31] Dr. Orton advocates for the Gonzalez protocol, which focuses on lifestyle changes rather than just advanced technology or supplements for treating degenerative diseases and cancer.

Legacy and Implementation of the Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:04:42] Mary Beth Gonzalez, the president of the Gonzalez Foundation and Dr. Gonzalez's wife, took time to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the Gonzalez protocol to honor her husband's legacy.

Enzyme Therapy and the Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:06:32] Dr. Orton adheres strictly to the Gonzalez protocol regarding enzyme therapy. He explains the history and importance of enzyme potency and stability as established by Dr. Gonzalez.

Overview of the Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:08:34] The Gonzalez protocol includes an individualized diet, supplement regimen, and detoxification routines. It is a holistic approach designed over decades to support body healing from cancer and other diseases.

Metabolic Typing and Supplementation
  • [00:13:42] The protocol involves metabolic typing to tailor supplement doses to each individual's needs, emphasizing the balance of acid and alkaline in the body, and choosing the right forms of nutrients.

Metabolic Typing Determination
  • [00:17:55] Dr. Orton details the process of determining an individual's metabolic type through symptoms related to the balance between sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest or digest) nervous systems. This assessment is crucial to the Gonzalez protocol.

Symptom-Based Metabolic Analysis
  • [00:18:01] Sympathetic dominant individuals may exhibit symptoms like constipation and high blood pressure, while parasympathetic dominance might present with diarrhea and autoimmune issues. This helps in guiding dietary recommendations, such as the need for red meat to acidify an overly alkaline system.

Comprehensive Questionnaire and Diagnosis
  • [00:20:51] A lengthy questionnaire developed by Dr. Kelly assists in evaluating a wide array of symptoms to avoid misclassification of metabolic types.

Assessing Acid-Alkaline Balance
  • [00:22:08] Dr. Orton explains the complexity of accurately measuring the acid-alkaline balance in the body, mentioning experimental tests used in their practice and ongoing validation of Dr. Kelly’s blood work correlations.

Bicarbonate Treatment for Cancer
  • [00:23:53] Discussion on the use of sodium bicarbonate injections for treating solid tumors, which are generally overly acidic, and the importance of metabolic typing in cancer treatment.

Cancer Typing and Treatment
  • [00:26:01] Solid tumors tend to be too acidic while immune system-related cancers (like leukemia) tend to be too alkaline. This influences the application of the Gonzalez protocol and other treatments like sodium bicarbonate injections.

CAC Tea and Treatment Considerations
  • [00:28:21] Dr. Orton is open to the use of SEAC tea and other herbal remedies but emphasizes the importance of not overwhelming the system with too many treatments at once.

Preventative Use of Enzymes
  • [00:31:02] Pancreatic enzymes are endorsed for preventative measures against cancer, but they must be paired with detoxification practices like coffee enemas to manage waste products.

Specificity of the Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:32:05] The protocol's effectiveness may vary with different types of cancer, influenced by factors such as blood flow to the tumor, with leukemia being notably responsive due to its presence in the bloodstream.

Blood Flow and Cancer Treatment Efficacy
  • [00:34:23] Tumors in areas with poor blood flow, such as radiation scars or primary liver cancer, may be more challenging to treat, requiring longer timeframes or adjunctive treatments like bicarbonate injections.

Gonzalez Protocol vs. Gerson Therapy
  • [00:35:13] Dr. Orton clarifies the differences between the Gonzalez and Gerson therapies, particularly in their approach to treating acidic versus alkaline cancers.

Juicing in the Gonzalez Protocol
  • [00:35:54] Juicing is included in the Gonzalez protocol for cancer patients, albeit less intensely than in the Gerson therapy, to provide a digestible source of nutrients and enzymes.

Juicing and Metabolic Types
  • [00:36:53] Dr. Orton clarifies that under the Gonzalez protocol, carrot juice is considered neutral and is recommended for all metabolic types. Parasympathetic types, contrary to avoidance of alkaline foods, can still consume fruits, especially tropical ones, for their enzyme content.

Food Choices for Parasympathetic Types
  • [00:37:20] Although parasympathetic dominant individuals need to emphasize acidic foods, they can still include certain fruits and neutral foods like carrots in their diet. However, they should avoid highly alkalizing foods like green leafy vegetables and citrus fruits.

Misconceptions About Acidic and Alkaline Foods
  • [00:38:46] Dr. Orton addresses the common misconception about the acidity of citrus fruits. Despite their acidic taste, they have an alkaline effect on the body, making them suitable for sympathetic dominant individuals.

Sugar Consumption and Cancer
  • [00:39:59] Dr. Orton dispels the myth that sugar feeds cancer, referencing Otto Warburg's research. He explains that Dr. Gonzalez's high-sugar diets, consisting of natural sugars from juices and fruits, showed no evidence of promoting cancer.

Beet Juice vs. Carrot Juice
  • [00:42:39] While beets have different properties, carrot juice remains the foundation in the Gonzalez protocol, primarily for its concentration of beta-carotene, which supports the immune system during cancer treatment.

Enzymes in Cancer Treatment
  • [00:43:30] Pancreatic enzymes are highlighted as special due to their signaling mechanism that inhibits the proliferation of undifferentiated cells, similar to fetal development, rather than just digesting tumors.

This was another episode that has been a long time coming on this show that I was really glad to get on the books.  Juicing was a huge part of our cancer journey with Ryder as it has been for thousands of people successfully taking a natural or integrative approach but I feel like with all the new research out on ketosis and more and more focus on treatments in clinics the last couple years it’s sort of taken a back seat in the health world’s attention so I was very happy to do this show to remind all of us what a no brainer juicing is in flooding the body with vital nutrients which really could make all the difference in the world.
