220: I Spent Thousands Trying to Relax, But My ADHD Brain Never Clocked Out01 sept. 202600:27:04

Full Show Notes Here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-vacation-couldnt-relax/

What happens when you spend thousands of dollars on a vacation, leave the country, check into an all-inclusive resort, and realize your ADHD brain still cannot relax?

Then comes the guilt.

You should be happy. You should feel romantic. You should be taking beautiful pictures. You should return home refreshed.

But what if the pressure to relax turns rest into one more job?

In this unplanned episode of The ADHD CEO Podcast, Alyece shares the truth about her 15-year anniversary trip: the chaos before leaving, the mental load she carried out of the country, the resort that did not fit, the arguments over things no one could control, and the flight delay that pushed an already overloaded brain past its limit.

This episode covers:

• Why changing locations does not automatically give an ADHD brain rest
• How mental load follows you on vacation
• Why delegating tasks is not the same as releasing responsibility
• How expensive trips create pressure to perform happiness
• Why the final disruption can feel huge after dozens of smaller stressors
• What it means to divorce the money from an experience
• Four questions to ask before judging yourself for feeling overwhelmed

Maybe you are not bad at resting.

Maybe this version of rest does not meet your needs.

219: Don't Say Accommodation: The ADHD Script That Actually Gets a Yes at Work18 août 202600:20:18

Full show notes here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/what-to-say-to-your-boss-about-adhd-script-ep-219/

Last week I told you why your company will not support you even when supporting you is cheaper than replacing you. This week I am giving you the actual words.

Not a framework.

Not advocate for yourself.

Sentences, in order, that you can say out loud on Monday.

And it starts with the part that surprises people. Do not lead with the word accommodation. If you do, you just routed a ninety minute schedule shift into a process built by lawyers to limit liability, and it will take three weeks and probably get you less.

There are two doors here. Almost nobody knows they are choosing.

Note: I am a certified ADHD coach and a systems expert, not an attorney and not a doctor. Nothing in this episode is legal advice, and I say exactly where that line sits.

In this episode:(00:00) Why the most important word is one you should not say first(02:00) The two doors, and how your wording picks one for you(04:00) What the ADA actually requires, and why door two is not a magic key(05:00) The four sentence script: setup, observation, ask, output(06:00) Five filled in scripts, word for word(10:00) Four phrases to never use(11:00) When to use the word accommodation on purpose(12:30) What to do if they say no(14:00) For managers: your ten seconds

Your one action: take the one change that would most improve your actual work. Write the four sentences. Read it back and cut "I struggle with," "I have ADHD so," and any hedging. Send it tomorrow, not today.

Then DM me on Instagram @socially.ausome and tell me what you asked for and what they said. I want the nos as much as the yeses.

218: Why Companies Won't Support Their ADHD Employees (Even When It Costs Them More)11 août 202600:19:37

Full show notes here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/why-companies-wont-support-adhd-employees/

What You'll Learn:

  • The real cost of replacing an employee (and why it's higher than you think)
  • The three wrong answers companies give and why they're wrong
  • The Split Ledger: the structural reason accommodation never happens
  • Four mechanics that keep the cost and the cure in different places
  • What to do if you're an ADHD employee at an unsupportive job
  • What managers need to see to change behavior

Key Numbers:

  • Gallup: Replacing an employee costs 50-200% of their annual salary
  • SHRM: Same range, depending on role
  • Mid-level employee at $60K: Replacement costs $30-$120K
  • Voluntary turnover costs US businesses: ~$1 trillion per year
  • Team productivity drop after turnover: ~11%

The Split Ledger — 4 Mechanics:

  1. Cost (HR budget) and cure (manager decision) have different owners
  2. Timelines don't match (quarterly goals vs. 14-month retention)
  3. No line item for "resignations prevented"
  4. Accommodation gets routed through legal, not performance

Three Tactical Moves for ADHD Employees:

  1. Don't use "accommodation" unless you need legal protection
  2. If you do need protection, use it deliberately
  3. Frame requests as output, not as personal need

217: Your Achievement Is an ADHD Symptom04 août 202600:17:06

Full show notes here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-overachiever-achievement-is-a-symptom-ep-217/

I want to read you a list. A TEDx talk. Two books. Two coaching certifications. A marketing agency. A nonprofit board seat. This podcast.

I do not think I collected any of that because I am ambitious. I think I collected it because somewhere around age nine I figured out that being impressive was the only thing that made being difficult forgivable.

And not one of those things ever felt like arriving.

This episode makes an uncomfortable argument: for a lot of ADHD adults, achievement is not the evidence that we overcame our ADHD. Achievement is the symptom. Stay to the end for one question, four seconds, that tells you the difference between ambition and armor.

In this episode:(00:00) The list, and why I do not think it is ambition(02:00) "She has so much potential" and what that sentence actually installs(04:30) Sign one: the finish line moves every single time(05:45) Sign two: you collect credentials you do not need(06:45) Sign three: rest feels like risk(07:30) Sign four: you cannot take a compliment and cannot function without one(09:00) Why ADHD brains get trapped here specifically(11:00) What it cost me, and the business I burned down(12:30) The four second question: ambition or armor

Your one action: take the next goal on your list and ask, if nobody ever found out I did this, would I still do it? Then DM me on Instagram @socially.ausome and tell me which goal it was and what the answer was.

216: I Wasn't Ashamed of My ADHD. I Was Confused by It.28 juil. 202600:14:17

Full show notes here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/i-wasnt-ashamed-of-my-adhd-i-was-confused-by-it-ep-216/

Last week I promised I'd say something on this show I've never said out loud. Especially not live. So here it is.

For years I didn't tell people I have ADHD, and everybody assumes that means shame. Part of that's true. But the bigger reason was this: I didn't think anybody would believe me.

How do you say out loud that you built a six-figure business, spoke on a TEDx stage, and also have no idea where the water bottle you filled up forty minutes ago went? It sounds made up. So I said nothing for years and called it privacy.

In this episode, I walk through the three walls that kept me quiet, and wall three is one I've genuinely never admitted publicly.

In this episode:
(00:00) The thing I've never said out loud
(01:30) Wall one — everyone pictures a bouncing eight-year-old boy
(04:15) Wall two — why the ADHD contradiction makes you sound like you're lying
(05:00) Why ADHD pattern recognition points outward but never inward
(07:15) No, we don't hate structure — we can't reliably build it
(08:00) Why "everyone's a little ADHD" is not a compliment
(09:30) Wall three — the one I've never admitted
(13:00) What actually changed: I stopped asking one side of my brain to disappear

Your one action: pick the wall you're standing behind and name it out loud.

Then DM me on Instagram @socially.ausome and tell me which one is yours... wall three especially, because I've never heard anyone else say that one.

214: Did Anyone Ever Ask Her How She Works Best? | ADHD CEO Podcast Ep 21414 juil. 202600:18:27

Full Show Notes: https://sociallyausome.com/post/did-anyone-ask-how-she-works-best-adhd-workplace-ep-214

I once spoke with a manager after she let someone go.

She walked me through everything. The missed deadlines. The late arrivals. The blank stare in meetings. She had done everything by the book. Documented. Coached. Warned.

I asked her one question.

"Did anyone ever ask her how she works best?"

She went quiet.

That employee wasn't difficult. She was unaccommodated. Nobody knew she had ADHD. Nobody asked. And the entire system she was handed was built for a brain she doesn't have.

This episode answers the question a licensed clinical social worker left in my comments: "What helps managers create enough trust for that conversation before performance is already affected?"

In this episode:

- Why neurodivergent employees don't disclose what they need - and it is not withholding

- The invisible adaptation job ADHD employees perform every day that nobody hired them to do

- Why psychological safety is built in the moment after a small ask - not in a policy

- 3 behaviors that create trust before the crisis hits

The most expensive conversation in business is the one nobody had six months earlier.

213: ADHD in the Workplace: 5 Things Every Manager Gets Wrong30 juin 202600:17:13

Full show notes: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-workplace-5-things-managers-get-wrong-ep-213/

Every day, somewhere in a corporate office, a performance review is being written about an employee who is brilliant, creative, fast, and completely exhausting to manage. The manager has no idea they are describing unaccommodated ADHD.

This episode is for two audiences. If you are an employee, you are going to feel seen. If you are a manager or HR professional, you are going to walk away with something you can use before your next performance conversation.

The 5 things:

1. Confusing inconsistency with unreliability

2. Treating ADHD symptoms as attitude problems

3. Equating busyness with productivity, and stillness with laziness

4. Designing systems for one kind of brain and calling it fairness

5. Waiting for a diagnosis before offering accommodation

Each one has a practical fix. No jargon. No checkbox. Just the conversation that needs to happen inside more organizations.

212: ADHD Pattern Recognition: - The Gift That Feels Like Overthinking23 juin 202600:11:22

Full show notes:https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-pattern-recognition-gift-feels-like-overthinking-ep-212/

You were right. You saw it coming. You said something, and nobody believed you.

And then it happened exactly the way you said it would.

And instead of being trusted, you got called negative. Anxious. Too sensitive. Overthinking.

This episode is about naming what's actually happening in your brain and why the "feeling" you always have isn't a feeling at all. It's data.

In this episode:

  • Why ADHD pattern recognition gets mislabeled as anxiety and negativity
  • What's actually happening when your brain "just knows" something
  • The compounding cost of being dismissed over and over
  • 3 shifts that help you stop apologizing for seeing what others miss

You don't have a thinking problem. You have a translation problem.

211: AI Is Making Your ADHD Worse16 juin 202600:10:55

Full Shownotes Here: https://sociallyausome.com/episode_211

You downloaded three AI tools last month.

Your follow-up email is still in your drafts.

Here's what nobody in the productivity space is saying right now: AI tools are giving ADHD entrepreneurs a brand new, socially acceptable way to stay in prep mode forever.

And because it looks like work, you don't even realize it's happening.

In this episode:- Why "avoidance" now looks like productivity — and why that makes it more dangerous than Netflix ever was-

The exact prep mode trap AI has created for ADHD brains

- Why compounding confidence erosion is the real cost (not just lost time)

- 3 boundaries that put AI back in its lane so you can actually execute

- How the people getting results are using AI completely differently.

This one will be uncomfortably specific. Good.

210: Wired for More: The ADHD High Achiever's Guide to Nervous System Performance with Ian Mai02 juin 202600:48:20

Full Shownotes Here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-wired-for-more-nervous-system-performance-ian-mai-ep-210/

You've hit every quota. You've built the business. You've stood on stage. And you're still exhausted, still numbing, still feeling like it's never enough.

That's not a discipline problem. That's a nervous system problem.

Ian Mai spent 12 years in tech consulting, became a president's club sales rep AND a pro bodybuilder simultaneously, and still hit complete rock bottom in 2020. The addictions, the near-failed marriage, the burnout he couldn't grind his way out of — all of it traced back to one thing: unmanaged ADHD and a nervous system that had never learned to rest.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why the highly successful but quietly suffering ADHD professional never feels like enough
  • The real neurological link between ADHD and addiction
  • Why zone two cardio is non-negotiable for ADHD nervous system recovery
  • How to use exercise to rehearse high-pressure moments before they happen
  • The "double tab" awareness method and how it breaks the shame-avoidance cycle
  • What it actually takes to go from knowing what to do to doing it

Ian is opening his H2 group coaching cohort on July 1st, and all of June is FREE for early sign-ups.

You've bought 14 planners.

You've time-blocked.

You've eaten the frog.

And by 10 am, you're done for the day.

The problem isn't you ... it's that discipline was never the answer for an ADHD brain. In this episode, Alyece breaks down why dopamine is the real motivation fuel, why every system without it will fail, and three specific techniques from the FLOW-First framework to finally get boring tasks done: dopamine pairing, temporal building, and batching.

207: What Happens When an ADHD Brain Finally Stops Fighting Itself21 avr. 202600:09:38

Full Shownotes Here: sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-brain-stops-fighting-itself-ep207

You didn't fail today because you weren't trying hard enough.

You failed because your ADHD brain spent the whole day doing everything except the one thing that would have moved your business forward. And the wild part? You felt productive the whole time.

That's the safe-task cycle. And it's keeping you busy, exhausted, and broke.

In this episode, I break down:

  • Why your ADHD brain keeps choosing the wrong task
  • The difference between a priority-based brain and an interest-based brain
  • The one move you can make tomorrow that changes everything
  • Why FLOW-First Thinking is the framework built for how your brain actually works

This isn't a motivation problem. It never was.

206: You’re Not Busy: The ADHD Time Management Lie That’s Keeping You Stuck07 avr. 202600:10:39

Full ShowNotes Here: https://linkly.link/2fiwx

You’re not busy. You’re avoiding.

In this episode, we break down the real reason ADHD entrepreneurs stay stuck in “busy work” while the things that actually drive revenue never get done. This isn’t about discipline or better time management. This is about the task avoidance spiral, emotional safety, and the patterns quietly running your business.

If you’ve ever ended the day exhausted with nothing to show for it, this episode will call it out and show you what to do instead.

You’ll learn:
• What the task avoidance spiral actually looks like in real life
• Why your brain chooses “safe tasks” over revenue-driving actions
• How to identify your avoidance patterns
• What flow-first systems look like in action

I Said Five Minutes. It's Been Four Hours. (ADHD Time Blindness)

I sat down at 2pm to answer one email.

I looked up and it was 6:47pm. I had reorganized my entire desktop, watched a 45-second video about how saltwater pools work, started a note titled "content ideas october" even though it was March, and looked up whether fennec foxes make good pets.

The one email I sat down for? Still open. Still unread.

That is ADHD time blindness. And if that was uncomfortably specific, this episode is for you.

🎧 In this episode:

  • What ADHD time blindness actually is — and why it's neurological, not a discipline problem
  • Why ADHD brains only have two time zones: now and not now
  • Why every piece of standard time management advice fails us specifically

Full Show Notes Here: https://linkly.link/2ddDl

I want to tell you about a call I paid $1,000 for.

I got on. I nodded. I said "that makes so much sense" at least four times. I hung up and had absolutely no idea what I was supposed to do next.

Not because the coach did anything wrong. I spent the entire hour managing how I was coming across instead of actually absorbing what she said. I processed maybe thirty percent of that call.

A thousand dollars. And I left more confused than when I started.

That's ADHD masking. And I didn't even know I'd been wearing one.

In this episode, I'm getting personal about what masking actually is, what masking burnout really looks like (hint: it doesn't look like falling apart — it looks like functioning perfectly until one day you just can't), and what I built after the mask shattered.

🎧 In this episode:

  • What ADHD masking actually is — and why high-achievers are most at risk
  • The quiet buildup nobody talks about before burnout hits
  • 5 specific signs you might be masking right now without knowing it
  • The single schedule change that made the most difference over anything else I tried

201: Task Initiation and ADHD: Why Starting Feels Impossible and What Actually Helps17 févr. 202600:16:44

Full Shownotes Here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-task-initiation-cant-start-tasks

You have the to-do list. You have the coffee. You have the candle lit and the phone face down. And you still can't start.

That's not laziness. That's not poor time management. That's task initiation — and it's one of the most misunderstood ADHD challenges that's quietly costing you momentum in your business every single day.

In this episode, I'm getting real about what task initiation actually is, why ADHD brains struggle with it more than anything else, and the practical strategies that actually work — not the "just do it" advice that was never built for your brain.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • Why starting is harder than finishing for ADHD brains (and the dopamine science behind it)
  • What task paralysis actually looks like in daily life — the desk reorganizing, the sock drawer, all of it
  • The "Ridiculous Micro-Start" strategy that breaks the freeze without willpower
  • How to use environmental triggers to train your brain to begin
  • Why the 5-minute rule works — and when to let yourself stop at 5
  • The emotional layer underneath avoidance that most productivity advice ignores
  • How your Spark Times inside the F.L.O.W. framework change everything

If you've ever stared at your screen for two hours and done everything except the actual work, this episode is for you.

If you have ADHD and you hate following up after you send an offer, you’re not “bad at sales.”

You’re dealing with ADHD rejection sensitivity.

In this episode, I break down the real reason follow-up feels so painful for ADHD entrepreneurs, what it looks like in your daily life (not just business), and how it quietly kills your income every single day.

You’ll hear exactly why your brain reads silence as rejection, why you avoid the DM thread even when you KNOW you should follow up, and the simple Flow-First system shift that makes follow-up feel safer and easier.

In this episode, we talk about:

  • Why ADHD rejection sensitivity makes follow-up feel like danger

  • The day-in-the-life signs you’re avoiding follow-up (without realizing it)

  • How this shows up at work, in productivity, and in relationships

  • Why “If they wanted it, they’d buy” is a lie that costs you money

  • The follow-up message you can copy + paste today

  • How to build a follow-up system that works even when your nervous system is spiraling

198: Temporal Building for ADHD: Why Time Blocking Fails and What Works Instead20 janv. 202600:11:07

Full Show Notes Here: sociallyausome.com/post/temporal-building-adhd-time-management

How many times have you said “this will only take 20 minutes” and then three hours disappear?

Or the opposite. You block off your whole day for something and finish it in 45 minutes.

If you have ADHD, this is not a discipline problem. This is a brain wiring problem.

In this episode, Alyece Smith breaks down temporal building, a neuroscience-backed way ADHD brains experience and structure time. You will learn why time blocking keeps failing you, what time blindness really is, and how to build a productivity system that works with your brain instead of fighting it.

Neurotypical brains feel time passing. ADHD brains do not. ADHD brains live in two modes: now and not now. That is why deadlines create panic focus, boring tasks feel ten times longer than creative work, and starting early feels impossible.

This episode shows you how to replace broken productivity advice with ADHD-friendly time anchors that create real momentum, real structure, and real follow-through.

193: Forget the Trends: 5 Real Predictions for ADHD Entrepreneurs in 202616 déc. 202500:14:45

Full Show notes Here: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-entrepreneur-predictions-2026-forget-trends

Tired of prediction fatigue? These 5 predictions for 2026 focus on what ADHD entrepreneurs actually need: sustainable systems, authenticity, and self-knowledge.

Prediction fatigue is real. AI this, recession that, new platforms, algorithm changes...everyone's telling ADHD entrepreneurs what to pay attention to, and it's overwhelming. But here's what most people are missing: the biggest trend that matters to neurodivergent entrepreneurs in 2026 isn't about the market at all.

In this episode, Alyece Smith cuts through the noise and shares the five predictions that actually matter for ADHD entrepreneurs in 2026. Spoiler alert: none of them are about the latest social media platform or AI tool.

The entrepreneurs who thrive aren't the ones chasing every trend—they're the ones who understand themselves. While everyone else is looking outward at market changes and competitors, successful ADHD entrepreneurs are looking inward, asking: How does my brain work? What's my energy pattern? What actually matters to me?

In this episode, you'll discover:

  • Why prediction fatigue hits ADHD brains harder (and how to filter the noise)
  • The hidden danger of "more, faster, bigger" thinking for neurodivergent entrepreneurs
  • Why the ADHD brain is actually BETTER at filtering trends than neurotypical brains
  • How constant micro-adjustments destabilize your business
  • The truth about AI, automation, and shiny object syndrome
  • Five real predictions for 2026 that focus on YOU, not the market
  • Why authenticity is becoming the new productivity
  • How community building is your competitive advantage
  • The revolution of unmasked ADHD entrepreneurship

Alyece shares personal stories about burning out from late-night hyper-focus sessions learning every new tool, and how she discovered that sustainable success comes from mastering fundamentals...not chasing trends.

This episode is for ADHD entrepreneurs who are tired of feeling behind, overwhelmed by predictions, and ready to build a business that works WITH their brain instead of against it.

You don't need permission to speak.

You need to apply. The worst thing that happens is they say no.

Eventually, they say yes, and your message will reach people who desperately need to hear it.

Take up space or be more qualified or more polished or more certain.

184: The ADHD Entrepreneur's Time Management Lie (What Actually Works)30 sept. 202500:10:31

📖 Read Full Show Notes: https://sociallyausome.com/post/adhd-time-management-lie-what-actually-works

Episode Overview

Time blindness isn't a character flaw...it's a neurological reality. Every time management system out there is designed for brains that can estimate how long things take, maintain focus on demand, and generate motivation consistently.

ADHD brains can't do any of that.

Stop forcing neurotypical productivity methods onto your neurodivergent brain and learn what actually works: energy management over time management, dopamine-first strategies, and systems designed for time blindness.

What You'll Learn

Why Traditional Time Management Fails ADHD Brains:

How time blindness affects ADHD entrepreneurs (thinking something takes 20 minutes, then 3 hours later...)

Why time blocking doesn't work for brains that hyperfocus for 3 hours or can't focus for 3 minutes

The "early bird" myth and why forcing morning routines is self-sabotage for many ADHD brains

How planning paralysis keeps you from actually executing

5 Strategies That Actually Work for ADHD Time Management:

Energy Management Over Time Management - Organize by energy levels, not clock hours (protect your 2-3 peak hours for revenue tasks)

The Two-List System - One must-do task per day + optional can-do list (stop overwhelming yourself with 47 tasks)

Time Anchors Instead of Time Blocks - Attach tasks to natural rhythms ("after coffee" not "9 AM")

The Dopamine-First Approach - Start with enjoyable tasks to generate dopamine, THEN tackle hard stuff (opposite of "eat the frog")

External Accountability Beats Willpower - Body doubling, accountability partners, public commitments work better than self-discipline

Key Takeaways

Time blindness is neurological, not a personal failing

ADHD brains have 2-3 peak productivity hours per day—protect them fiercely

Energy management beats time management for neurodivergent entrepreneurs

Dopamine-first approach works better than forcing yourself to do hard tasks first

External accountability replaces unreliable internal motivation

Time anchors provide structure without rigidity

Stop system-hopping and build ONE that works with your brain
