The 40k Lorecast – Details, episodes & analysis

Surprise! Today we have an extra episode available for all of you. This is not a podcast on Warhammer lore, but rather an episode to announce us joining an amazing group of Lore podcasts called Robots Radio. Is a collection of podcasts devoted to the lore of the gaming and nerd culture. In preparation we jumped on with Tom the head of the network as well as the host of the Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and Lord of the Rings Lorecast. We discuss a range of topics, from our casts, his casts, and just gaming and nerd culture in general. It is a fun lighthearted dip that we hope you all enjoy.

On today’s cast we cover the transition from Age of Technology into the Age of Strife. We open with mankind’s unification into the federation. Then we cover the mass appearance of psychers across the galaxy, and how they began to cause chaos into the federation. But then things get massively worse as the men of iron rise up in the cybernetic rebellion. We spend time talking about the nightmare that was the cybernetic rebellion, both during and the effects of it afterwards. After this, the warp turns effectively opaque and the entire galaxy begins to burn with the effects of it. We then close out focusing on Sol during this period, with a focus on the planets and quick aside into the unification wars.

On today’s cast we finish out coverage of the Blood Angels legion. We open with the Blood Angles trying to rebuild their devastated legion after the Horus Heresy. From there we talk about the Blood Angles recruitment and their attempts to quell their gene-flaws. After that we take a turn and talk about some of our favorite Blood Angels successor chapters. After that we talk about their characters that appear on the tabletop. And then we close out on the devastation of Baal, and the arrival of Guilliman and his Primaris Marines.

On today's cast we begin our coverage of the Blood Angels Chapter. We start with their origins under the unification wars. From there their borderline descent into savagery as they pushed out into the great crusade. Next we jump to their Primarch Sanguinius. First with his arrival on Baal Secundus, and then his growth and rise to be the leader of the moon. That leads us into his unification of his legion and their repression of their Gene flaw. And then we go into the Horus Heresy. With the betrayal at Signus prime and their greatest enemy Ka’ Bandha. Then we join them on their quick detour to make a new imperium, and finally we close out with the Sierge of Terra and Death of their Primarch.

On todays cast we complete or coverage of the xenos of the galaxy. Diving again head first into a ton of super random Xenos that GW has written into the game. Although we do start with the Jokaero, so that is awesome! Some others are the Enoulians, Laer, Maug, the Hrud, and others. We also talk a bit more about the times the imperium has made deals with xenos in exchange for technology, and each time they end up killing lots of imperial citizens, and eventually the xenos.

On todays cast we begin our coverage of the random Xenos of the galaxy. Our focus is on some of the Xenos that have no codex. Thes are races that appear in stories, codexes, and some of GW’s side games. Many of these races have only a few (very well written) paragraphs on them in the lore, so it is more of a quick rundown on each of the races. On todays cast we cover: The Tepresi, Cythor Fiends, Caryatids, Rak’Gol, the Slaugth and more.

On today’s cast we conclude our coverage of the Death Watch, the special forces of the Space Marines. We open with some of our favorite weapons and equipment of the Death Watch. Namely we focus on how specialized an borderline heretic their equipment and weaponry are. We also focus on how much of a nightmare it was to play against the death watch as a xenos player during certain editions. After this we spend some time talking about how the Death Watch interact with the other factions of the imperium. Lastly we talk about the overall structure of the Death Watch, with focus on some of their key fortresses and where they got them

 On today’s cast we start our coverage of the Death Watch, the special forces of the Space Marines. We start with a quick overview of what the Death Watch are and then dive a bit into their two different founding stories (one was way better than the other). After that we talk about how a Space Marine joins the Death Watch, both the official and common practice as well as the Black Shield style. From there we focus a bit more on how the Death Watch function as a fighting force in the imperial forces, with their smaller and more specific goals and actions to achieve great success via tiny events.

 On today’s cast we are doing a John special. This cast is a dive into some our favorite broken rules of the game over the past 20+ years. A fun trip down memory lane, some of those memories are little bad for some players. We open with explaining Rules As Written and how that sets up some of these funny interactions. After that we dive head first into some glorious things like: no pre-measuring, guess weapons, custom vehicles, instant death, grey knight and Eldar daemon summoning, invisibility, impossible combat due to base to base rules, and more. We hope you find this fun and funny as we did.
