Wednesday, January 15, 2025 • Duration 01:22:34
Another year of classic 2000s pop music begins on the podcast where every week we are reliving the 40 biggest selling singles of this week 40 years ago. It's 2005, and things are about to change in a big way as the download charts get added to the main chart.
Before that happens, however, we are in for some very weird, but very fascinating, top 40s. Where else would you see Elvis Presley, fully dead since 1977, battling it out with a 20-year-old metal song, a new track from 80s synth legends Erasure, a catchy piece of Eurotrance, an X Factor winner as well as new tracks from Kasabian and the Scissor Sisters, both desperate to get their second top 10 hits. Will they do it, and who will get the 999th UK number one.
Find out on another episode of The 2000s Chart Show as we count down, review and reveal the fascinating stories behind the biggest songs from this week in 2005. In this week's episode, we're talking about the following songs:

It's Christmas time, and there's no need to be afraid...unless you're terrified of all-star charity singles, that is. The lyrics to Band Aid 20's Do They Know It's Christmas may "banish shade", but that does not mean that this week's episode of The 2000s Chart Show isn't going to be as shady as ever about the chaotic debut of Pete Doherty's Babyshambles, the vicious rumours that Rachel Stevens gatecrashed the Band Aid recording, and the problems that Joss Stone and Snoop Dogg were facing in 2004.
