| #107 [Guest] Brady Nankervis - Backyard Ultra Debut Record Holder | 14 Sep 2026 | 00:57:06 | |
Brady Nankervis joins Tommy not long after his remarkable backyard ultra debut, where he completed 68 yards, earned a place on the Australian team, and discovered just how deeply he was willing to suffer. They explore sleep deprivation, hallucinations, mental resilience and why sharing the burden may be a greater sign of strength than staying silent. Brady also opens up about leaving a secure career, repeatedly failing, building an audience and learning to back himself. A raw conversation about hard things, self-belief, and finding out who you really are when quitting feels like the easiest option. | #106 [Guest] Brian (Wolfie) Peterson - Is the Culture of Ultra Running Under Threat | 07 Sep 2026 | 01:16:59
As trail and ultra running continue to grow, are the sport’s culture and values at risk? Tommy is joined by Brian “Wolfie” Peterson to discuss online discourse and how we should try to interact. They unpack the recent controversy surrounding Sage Canaday, Cam Hanes, banned peptides and clean sport. Together, they explore whether the argument is really about doping or whether it reveals a deeper divide within the running community. They discuss online tribalism, public callouts, the professionalisation of ultra running and whether a sport built on freedom, honesty and shared suffering can retain its identity as more money, attention and regulation enter the space.

| #97 - The Secret to Discipline No One Tells You | 09 Jul 2026 | 00:36:47 | |
There is a beautifully encouraging truth about discipline that many miss. We think of discipline with a harsh tone, that we always need to make the hard decision. And that is somewhat true, but it doesn’t have to feel this way.

| #95 [Guest] Kilian Korth - The Difference Between Failure and Quitting | 25 Jun 2026 | 01:15:09 | |
Kilian Korth swept the Triple Crown of 200s in 2025, becoming the first man to take Tahoe 200, Bigfoot 200 and Moab 240 outright in the same season. He also set a new course record at Cocodona 250. But before any of that, his record was three DNFs, a torn hamstring, and a finish at Cocodona that landed him in the ICU. Tommy and Kilian talk about the line between failure and quitting, the difference between self belief and self efficacy, and why letting go of outcomes made Kilian faster, not slower. They get into ego and the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we deserve, and why presence and gratitude have become Kilian's most reliable tools, both in racing and in recovering from ankle surgery. They also talk about the commercialisation of ultra running, the politics and tribalism creeping into trail running culture, and what actually unites runners once you strip away the noise of social media. Follow Kilian Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kiliankorth

| #93 - Why Both Discipline and Compassion Matter | 11 Jun 2026 | 00:43:47 | |
Explore the two voices that exist inside all of us: the “soft voice” that seeks comfort, safety and rest, and the “hard voice” that demands discipline, resilience pushing. Through the lens of running, training and everyday life, Tommy discusses why both voices are necessary, how both can become dangerous when taken to extremes, and why true wisdom lies in knowing which one deserves your attention and when. This is a conversation about self awareness, balance, ambition, recovery and learning when to push harder and when to pull back.

| #92 - Can running make you MORE stressed? | 04 Jun 2026 | 00:40:57 | |
Running is often described as one of the best tools for managing stress, improving mental health, and helping us cope with the demands of life. But what happens when the very thing we use to manage stress becomes another source of it? Today, we explore the complicated relationship between running and stress. Although we think of running as an escape, training itself is a stressor. Mileage, intensity, strength training, work, travel, relationships, poor sleep, bad news, financial worry, and life responsibilities all place demands on the same system. In this episode, Tommy discusses why the body doesn't distinguish between different types of stress, how running can both help and hinder our wellbeing, and why learning to tune into your own stress levels is one of the most important skills any runner can develop. Whether you're training for your first 10K, an ultra marathon, or simply trying to balance running with a busy life, this episode will help you better understand the true cost of training and how to avoid turning something you love into another source of overwhelm. --- Today’s Sponsor INOV8 - Use this link to get 15% OFF NEW! | #91 - Stop Choosing Between Performance and Happiness | 21 May 2026 | 00:31:35
Tommy reflects on the response to the documentary, An Invitation To Run Differently, and explores the relationship between performance, happiness, and perspective in modern running culture. So many runners begin because running brings peace, freedom, confidence, and clarity - only to slowly become consumed by metrics, comparison, optimisation, and pressure. But does enjoying running really mean sacrificing performance? Tommy discusses why enjoyment and ambition are not opposites, how obsession with data can damage your relationship with running, and why presence, gratitude, and perspective may actually improve long-term performance. | #86 - [Guest] Hugo Fry - Fast, Funny and No Filter | 23 Apr 2026 | 01:20:11
Hugo Fry is a 2:17 marathoner, a 63-minute half marathon runner, a sub-30 10K runner, a desert ultra winner, and somehow, none of that is the most interesting thing about him. Tommy sits down with Hugo in London for a wide-ranging conversation about what it actually looks like to build an audience as a runner, why racing more often is probably the best content strategy, and how Hugo manages to be genuinely elite without ever taking himself too seriously. They get into the backyard ultra world, Hugo's chaotic race calendar, and why structure might be the real secret to performing at a high level. Hugo's perspective on running is refreshing in the best way. He trains hard, races hard, and doesn't wrap his identity in the numbers. In a space full of people shouting about their splits, that's rarer than it should be. Tony Riddle is a leading voice in natural movement, rewilding, and human performance. Born with club feet and raised in corrective footwear, Tony’s early experience of movement was far from natural. Over time, he rebuilt that relationship, going on to embody the very principles he now teaches. This conversation explores how modern life disconnects us from our bodies, and what it looks like to return to something more natural. Tommy and Tony cover natural movement, posture, breath work, cold exposure, and the role of play in building a resilient, capable body.

| #79 - The Dangers of Data Obsession (and Why Your Watch Might Be Ruining Running) | 12 Mar 2026 | 01:01:06 | |
Join Tommy to explore one of the biggest shifts in modern running: our obsession with data. Running used to be simple. You put on a pair of shoes, headed out the door, and judged the run by how it felt. But somewhere along the way watches, Strava, VO2 max scores, heart rate graphs and endless metrics began to take over. In this episode Tommy follows the story of an everyday runner who slowly falls into the trap of letting numbers define his runs. He breaks down why many of the metrics runners obsess over aren’t nearly as important as they think, why wearable tech estimates are often misleading, and how the constant comparison culture of Strava can quietly erode the joy of running. This is not an attack on data. Data can be useful. But when numbers start replacing experience, something important is lost. If you’ve ever finished a run that felt great… only to feel disappointed when you saw the numbers on your watch, this episode is for you. A conversation about running, freedom, and remembering why we started in the first place. --- Today’s Sponsor: INOV8 - USE THIS LINK to claim your discount! In this episode, he breaks down the “down payment on commitment”, the early mornings, the strength work, the social trade offs, and the small daily disciplines that build durable, injury-resistant runners. There’s discussion on goal alignment, longevity, and choosing the restrictions that actually fuel performance. | #73 - [Guest] Alex (Herm) Hermansson - Running as Self Expression | 05 Feb 2026 | 01:10:44
Tommy chats with Alex Hermansson (@herm.runs). It’s a conversation that feels like a genuine exhale in the modern running world. Herm is a breath of fresh air. Someone who clearly loves running for what it is. Together, they talk about doing running your way, expressing yourself through movement, and resisting the pressure to follow the status quo or fit neatly into whatever version of “runner” is currently trending. It’s a conversation about individuality, creativity, and choosing a relationship with running that feels honest, sustainable, and true to who you are. If you’ve ever felt slightly out of place in running culture, or quietly resisted doing things “the right way,” this one will land. --- SUMS: Go to sumsclub.co.uk and use the code RUNNABLE at check out to get the third pair of beautiful socks in your checkout basket for FREE! | #71 - Passion vs Obsession: Running For The Long Run | 22 Jan 2026 | 00:50:03
Running has been the dominant force in Tommy’s life for years. Ultra running, structured training, and long-term goals have provided purpose, direction, and meaning — and it remains something he takes seriously. In this episode, Tommy reflects on the fine line between passion and obsession, and explores whether total commitment to running always protects that relationship, or whether it can sometimes quietly wear it down. He speaks honestly about the feeling of it all becoming a bit much, the desire to explore other interests without guilt, and why this year he’s taking a more psychologically relaxed approach to something he still cares deeply about. This episode isn’t about doing less. It’s about staying in love with running. For the long run. --- Today’s Sponsor: INOV8 - USE THIS LINK to claim your discount (RUNNABLE code is being dodgy) JOIN THE COACHING HUB! ➡️ JOIN NOW! ⬅️ Click the link for more information, including FAQs! --- SUBMIT A QUESTION: If you want to submit your own burning question, or a topic you think would be interesting to discuss on a future episode, record a short voice note. | #70 - [Guest] Jack Faint, Running India with a Brain Tumour | 15 Jan 2026 | 01:20:58
Jack Faint reflects on being diagnosed with a brain tumour in his mid-twenties while living in Australia - a moment that completely changed the trajectory of his life. What followed was a deep period of questioning, exploration, and responsibility for how he wanted to live. That path has since led him to run the length of India, raising tens of thousands (£) for cancer charities. In this episode, Tommy and Jack talk life, choice, responding to bad news, the mind–body connection, alternative medicine, and what it really means to move forward when nothing goes to plan. A grounded, thoughtful conversation with someone who has lived - and continues to live - the questions most of us try not to ask. --- Today’s Sponsor: INOV8 - USE THIS LINK to claim your discount (RUNNABLE code is being dodgy) Tommy's GROUP COACHING! ➡️ JOIN NOW! ⬅️ Click the link for more information, including FAQs! --- If you’d like to contribute to Jack’s fundraiser, you can find that here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jack-runs-the-length-of-india-4000km-in-80-days Follow Jack on Instagram: @jackefaint Find out more about the India Run: www.jackfaint.com ---

| #65 - [Guest] Drew Jonkmans, Land's End to John o' Groats... and Back! | 20 Nov 2025 | 00:49:45 | |
Sit down with Drew Jonkmans - ultra-endurance adventurer, mental-health advocate and a guy who refuses to let the plan define the story. His recent project, “Project Endure,” set out to run 1,000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats and then cycle the same route back, all in service of raising funds for two charities: Bigmoose (fast-access therapy for those in crisis) and BecomingX Foundation (life-skills for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds). BUT, it didn’t go according to plan. The terrain, the weather, the body and mind all pushed in directions he hadn’t fully scripted. And that’s what made it beautiful. Because the story became less about “mission accomplished” and more about “mission evolving.” Drew talks openly about what happens when goals falter, how running became his path back from a dark place, and why the real win is often in how we respond when things don’t go our way. Victoria joins Tommy to talk about all things running - from the realities of creating content online to the sneaky elitism that stains parts of the running world.
