Rethinking Medicine: Psychedelics, Place, and the Work of Healing | Beana Bern10 Sep 202601:50:33

Beana Bern is the founder of Rootstock Retreat, a ten-acre retreat and community in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, where she works with psilocybin through immersive medicine retreats and seasonal microdosing programs.

In this conversation, we rethink what we mean when we use the word “medicine.” Beana shares her own decades-long relationship with psychedelics and explains why mushrooms can be remarkably efficient at showing us where our pain, patterns, and stories come from...while challenging the idea that the psychedelic experience itself does the work of healing.

We talk about our own early experiences with microdosing, the problems with turning psychedelics into another magic pill, and why Beana structures her microdosing work around the rhythms of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. From there, the conversation widens considerably: the medicine of place, reconnecting with nature, developing internal authority without rejecting the need for guides, and learning to recognize wisdom in the world immediately around us.

We also venture into animism, the sentience of mushrooms, energetic and spiritual hygiene, unseen forces, and whether “hallucinogen” is even the right word for experiences that can sometimes feel more real than ordinary reality.

Ultimately, this is a conversation about much more than psychedelics. It’s about awareness, relationship, and expanding our understanding of medicine beyond something we consume to include the places we inhabit, the seasons we move through, the experiences that challenge us, and the living world (terrain) of which we are a part.

The Invisible Terrain: Orgone Energy and the Frequency Fence | Sharon Daphna03 Sep 202601:41:14

Sharon Daphna is a writer, researcher, and creator of The Chembow, where she documents more than a decade of work with orgone energy, orgonite, atmospheric conditions, electromagnetic frequencies, and the ideas of Wilhelm Reich. Since 2014, Sharon has made and distributed orgonite throughout nine western states, experimenting with what happens when these devices are introduced into environments saturated with artificial frequencies.

In this conversation, we explore what might be called the invisible terrain: the energetic environment that surrounds us but rarely enters into conventional conversations about health. Sharon introduces us to Reich’s concept of orgone, his distinction between life-supporting orgone energy and what he called Deadly Orgone Radiation, or DOR, and why she believes orgonite can help transform the energetic conditions around us.

That brings us back to something we’ve explored previously with guests like Mitch the Orgone Donor and Rob Williams: the “frequency fence.” Sharon describes it as much more than electromagnetic pollution. In her view, artificial frequencies can interfere with our ability to sense our environment clearly, think clearly, and ultimately recognize our own power. As she puts it during our conversation, “The frequency fence really is a mind control signal.”

From there, we get into cell towers, Wi-Fi and other sources of electromagnetic radiation, weather modification, geoengineering, artificial intelligence, Reich’s cloudbuster experiments, atmospheric conditions, and Sharon’s experiences “gifting” orgonite throughout the western United States. We also talk about the practical side of her work: how she makes orgonite, where she places it, what she observes afterward, and some simple experiments people can conduct for themselves.

And yes, this conversation goes well outside the boundaries of conventional science. Sharon makes claims about orgone, weather, technology, health, and the forces shaping our environment that remain highly controversial and, in many cases, are not established by mainstream scientific evidence. You don’t have to accept those claims to engage with the larger question they raise.

Because if the organism cannot be separated from its environment, where exactly does our terrain end? At our skin? At the walls of our home? Or should our understanding of terrain also account for the signals, frequencies, technologies, and other invisible influences we're immersed in every day?

Perhaps the most important theme of our conversation, though, is not fear of those influences but agency. Sharon’s work is ultimately rooted in the belief that human beings are far more powerful than we’ve been taught to believe...and that changing our relationship with the environment begins with recognizing that power.

Seriousness Is the Disease: Laughter, Jesters, and Breaking the Spell | Mike Cardamone27 Aug 202601:34:01

Mike Cardamone is a comedian, writer, filmmaker, and creator of Don't Slap Snooze. Before turning his attention to health, medicine, money, and some of the stranger corners of our shared reality, Mike spent years in advertising writing and producing for major brands. Then COVID happened, he started pulling on threads, and his creative work took a very different turn.

In this conversation, we talk about comedy as a way of communicating ideas that facts and arguments often can’t, and Mike makes the case that laughter can do something particularly powerful: break the spell. Once you can see the absurdity in something, and laugh at it, it becomes much harder to see it the same way again.

We also explore the historical role of the comedian as court jester: someone permitted to mock the king, but only as long as he doesn’t start questioning why there’s a king in the first place. That takes us into censorship, gatekeepers, independent media, George Carlin, the limits of mainstream comedy, and why building outside established systems may matter more than trying to reform them from within.

And yes, things get weird. We talk urine therapy, enemas, fruit fasting, cleansing, Mike’s personal experiments with his body, our strange relationship with food, and even satanic salamanders.

But we also turn the joke back on ourselves. If we’re going to criticize rigidity and dogma in mainstream medicine and science, we should probably notice when those same tendencies show up in the terrain and alternative-health worlds. Mike doesn’t claim to have everything figured out. He experiments, observes, changes his mind, and keeps his sense of humor.

Because as he puts it near the end of our conversation, maybe “seriousness is the disease.”

The Magic Mushroom Problem: When Psychedelics Become Another Magic Pill | John O'Connor19 Aug 202601:38:54

We have been open about our experiences with psychedelics and microdosing and the meaningful role they played in our own journeys into Terrain. But as psychedelics move from the counterculture into clinics, retreats and the mainstream, are we at risk of turning them into another version of the very thing they're supposed to replace: the magic pill?

John O'Connor, author of A Short, Strange Trip, joins us for a nuanced look at the psychedelic renaissance through the story of one of its most influential figures, Terence McKenna. John retraced McKenna's journey into the Colombian Amazon, separating some of the history from the mythology and discovering that indigenous relationships with psychoactive plants look very different from the Western stories we've built around them.

The conversation becomes deeply personal when John shares his father's unsuccessful attempts to treat decades of alcohol addiction with ketamine and psilocybin-assisted therapy—an experience that forced John to confront his own expectations about these medicines. We explore the danger of placing responsibility for healing onto a substance, why psychedelics may help us rewrite the stories we tell about ourselves without necessarily making those stories true, and the strange contradiction of rejecting the pharmaceutical model only to replace "take this pill" with "take this mushroom."

We also get into McKenna's complicated legacy, psychedelic shamanism, ego dissolution and spiritual grandiosity, the therapeutic versus recreational use of psychedelics, indigenous plant traditions, the importance of intention and integration, and why it's possible to recognize the profound potential of these substances without turning them into something they aren't.

This isn't a rejection of psychedelics. It's a challenge to hold the promise and the problems at the same time, and to remember that no medicine can do the work of tending our terrain for us.

Your Child's First Terrain Is You | Jenna Cain12 Aug 202601:57:56

We spend a lot of time on this show talking about creating healthy terrain through food, light, movement, and the environments we choose. But what if our very first terrain wasn't physical at all? What if our terrain was the emotional climate we grew up in, the words spoken over us, and the stories we learned to tell ourselves before we were even old enough to question them?

In this conversation, we welcome pediatric physical therapist, Enlifted coach, and parenting educator Jenna Cain for a discussion about how a child's environment extends far beyond nutrition and toxins. We explore why parents often have to heal before their children do, how seemingly innocent labels can become lifelong identities, the power of asking questions instead of giving answers, and why children's behavior is often a reflection of the nervous systems around them rather than something that needs to be fixed.

Jenna also shares practical tools for raising resilient children and a perspective that feels deeply aligned with Terrain Theory: that the conditions we create—physically, emotionally, and linguistically—shape how life expresses itself.

If you're raising young children, healing from your own childhood, or interested in how our inner landscape influences our health and relationships, this conversation offers a crucial reminder that the first terrain any of us ever experience is home.

Principles Over Protocols: What Terrain-based Naturopathy Looks Like | Nicky Leach05 Aug 202601:41:34

What does it actually mean to practice naturopathy through the lens of Terrain Theory?

In this episode, we sit down with terrain-forward naturopath Nicky Leach to explore a model of health that looks beyond diagnoses, protocols, and symptom management. Rather than asking, "What's the treatment?" Nicky asks a different question: "What conditions allowed this to happen in the first place?"

We discuss why purpose, community, and the stories we tell ourselves may shape our health just as much as food or environmental exposures. Nicky shares his approach to helping clients uncover root causes, why he believes principles are more valuable than protocols, and how fear, identity, and the pursuit of healing itself can sometimes become obstacles to real progress.

Along the way, we explore intellectual humility within the terrain movement, the importance of remaining open to new ideas, raising children without fear, and why the most meaningful transformation often begins with a shift in perspective rather than a new supplement or intervention.

Timing, Circadian Biology & Environmental Coherence | Avi Jacobson29 Jul 202602:02:17

How much of our health and terrain is shaped not just by what we eat or how we avoid toxins, but by the timing of our activities and choices? The when of our lives.

In this episode, we sit down with Avi Jacobson, co-founder of Kintsyougi and one of the creators of the CRD Challenge—a simple three-week experiment that introduced thousands of people to the principles of circadian biology. Built around practices like morning sunlight, reducing artificial light after dark, eating with daylight, and reconnecting with our natural environment, the challenge became a thriving community before ultimately being entrusted to the Institute of Applied Quantum Biology.

Avi shares his own journey from chronic health struggles and functional medicine to terrain and circadian biology, explaining why he believes many of the chronic symptoms people experience today are rooted in environmental incoherences rather than isolated diagnoses. Throughout the conversation, we explore why light may be one of the most overlooked inputs affecting human health, how timing influences metabolism and energy, why the body responds differently to the same meal depending on the time of day, and how small shifts in our relationship with sunrise, sunset, and artificial light can create profound changes over time.

Perhaps most refreshing is Avi's approach to learning itself. Rather than asking people to accept new ideas on faith, he encourages curiosity, observation, and personal experimentation...using your own body as the ultimate proving ground.

Tuning the Human Instrument & The Science of Resonance | Michael Trainer22 Jul 202602:23:42

We often think of health as something that's built through food, movement, sunlight, sleep, and the choices we make each day. But what if one of the most influential forces shaping our terrain isn't something we consume, but rather the people we surround ourselves with?

In this conversation, we sit down with author, explorer, and former Global Citizen executive Michael Trainer to explore the science and philosophy of resonance: the idea that our nervous systems, our biology, and even our sense of purpose are constantly being tuned by the relationships and environments we inhabit.

Drawing from years spent studying with indigenous wisdom keepers, neuroscientists, spiritual leaders, and health researchers, Michael shares why loneliness has become one of the defining health challenges of our time, how our relationships influence everything from emotional resilience to physical health, and why finding your own "unique song" may be one of the most important acts of healing.

Along the way, we discuss the biological effects of coherence, the power of community, the role of music in human connection, what ancient cultures can teach us about belonging, and why the strongest medicine doesn't come from a bottle, but from the quality of the people and places that shape us.

If Terrain Theory is about creating the conditions for life to flourish, then this conversation asks a deeper question: Who—and what—are you allowing to tune the instrument that is you?

Magic Pills: The Skeptic's Journey Into Homeopathy | Ananda More15 Jul 202601:51:05

When filmmaker and homeopath Ananda More first encountered homeopathy, she dismissed it as pseudoscience. It wasn't until an unexpected experience while traveling through India that her certainty began to unravel. Years later—even after becoming a practicing homeopath herself—she still wrestled with the question: "is this all simply placebo?" That honest skepticism became the foundation for Magic Pills, a documentary exploring the science, stories, politics, and controversy surrounding one of the world's most debated healing modalities.

In this conversation, we go far beyond the basics of homeopathy. We explore the difference between healthy skepticism and dogma, why homeopathy provokes such intense resistance, the state of the scientific research, censorship within medicine and media, energetic healing, placebo, consciousness, and what it means to follow evidence wherever it leads.

Ananda also shares remarkable patient stories, discusses the global effort to preserve access to homeopathy, and explains why empowering parents with safe, non-toxic tools may be one of the most important investments we can make in future generations. Whether you're completely new to homeopathy or have questioned it for years, this conversation is an invitation to look deeper before deciding what to believe.

Disease Begins In The Heart: Stillness & The Middle Way | Tommy Hughes08 Jul 202602:19:28

Tommy Hughes returns to the Terrain Theory Podcast for a conversation that builds on our first exploration of Classical Chinese Medicine and takes it into even deeper territory.

Drawing from the ancient medical classics, Tommy explains why Chinese physicians believed disease begins in the heart, how chronic emotional patterns can eventually become physical pathology, and why the body's symptoms are often the final chapter of a story that began years earlier. Together we examine the Chinese understanding of anger, fear, purpose, stillness, and the relationship between the inner climate and the outer world.

The discussion moves through cancer, trauma, suppression, homotoxicology, Wu Wei, and the symbolism behind the ancient Chinese character for cancer itself. Tommy also shares why martial arts traditionally came before medicine, why biohacking can become another form of striving, and how the Taoist concept of non-doing offers a radically different approach to cultivating health.

Rather than searching for another protocol or optimization strategy, this conversation points back toward something much older: restoring harmony, returning to one's original nature, and learning to move with life instead of constantly trying to control it.

Everything We Forgot About Hemp | Anya & Jacob Smith01 Jul 202601:42:53

Cannabis has become one of the most polarizing plants in modern history, but hemp may be the more important story.

In this episode, Ben and Mike sit down with Florida cannabis cultivators Anya and Jacob Smith of Green Smith Family Farms to explore the remarkable versatility of hemp and why so much of its history has been forgotten. The conversation moves well beyond CBD and THC into living soil, terpene diversity, clean cultivation, and why the health of the growing environment may directly influence the quality of the medicine it produces.

Along the way, they discuss hemp's potential to replace plastics, produce cleaner building materials, improve agriculture, fuel engines, and even reshape entire industries. They also share practical guidance for finding high-quality CBD, explain why many experienced cannabis users naturally gravitate toward lower-THC products over time, and reveal a simple tip that can completely change the experience for anyone who has ever overdone THC.

If terrain is the sum of the conditions that support life, then hemp deserves a much larger place in that conversation than it currently occupies. This episode explores why.

Victimhood, Mindset & The Stories That Shape Your Health | Mark England24 Jun 202602:06:56

Change your mind? More like change your mindset.

In this episode, we sit down with Mark England, founder of Enlifted, to explore the relationship between language, breath, mindset, and health. Mark argues that mindset isn't some abstract self-help concept: it's simply the story we tell ourselves about our lives, our bodies, our relationships, and our circumstances. And when those stories become rooted in fear, victimhood, or the belief that we're somehow broken, they can shape everything from our behavior to our physiology....and ultimately our health itself.

We dive into why victim consciousness may be one of the biggest obstacles to healing, how trapped emotions and "trapped breath" keep people stuck, the hidden power of language, and why writing down our stories can fundamentally change our relationship to them. Along the way, we discuss trauma, cancer, Lyme disease, chronic illness, breathwork, coaching, personal responsibility, and the delicate balance between acknowledging suffering and identifying with it.

Mark also shares his own journey through injury, addiction, self-destruction, and recovery, as well as the experiences that led him to develop the Enlifted method. The conversation touches on everything from emotional detoxification and health identities to parenting, purpose, manifestation, and the subtle ways our words influence our reality.

Whether you're navigating a diagnosis, working through old emotional wounds, or simply trying to better understand the connection between mindset and healing, this conversation offers a perspective on the stories that shape our health... and how changing those stories might change far more than we realize.

We're Here to Teach Nature | Mike Winner17 Jun 202601:48:19

Mike Winner has spent decades exploring the intersections of health, consciousness, philosophy, technology, and human potential. Many listeners know him as the longtime co-host of Alfa Vedic alongside Dr. Barre Lando, but his latest project, TerrainTV, may be his most ambitious yet: a centralized platform designed to bring together some of the most influential voices in the Terrain movement.

In this conversation, Mike joins Ben and Mike for a wide-ranging exploration of the BioTerrain Model, the evolution of the Terrain movement, and why he believes Terrain extends far beyond biology. The discussion moves through pleomorphism, natural law, sovereignty, consciousness, the role of thought in shaping our reality, and the deeper philosophical questions that often emerge once someone begins questioning conventional ideas about health.

The guys also dive into Mike's history with Alfa Vedic, the vision behind TerrainTV, and how artificial intelligence unexpectedly became a tool in bringing that vision to life. Along the way, they touch on alchemy, reincarnation, Atlantis, joy as a health practice, the importance of maintaining a sense of wonder in an increasingly mechanistic world, and why humans might be here to teach nature.

Whether you're brand new to Terrain or have been exploring these ideas for years, this episode offers a fascinating look at where the movement has been, where it may be headed, and why the conversation continues to expand far beyond the question of germs and our physical bodies.

The Body Doesn't Lie: Osteopathy, Flow & Energy Healing with Dr. Caroline Hartridge10 Jun 202601:34:52

What happens when the illness that nearly killed you turns out to be the catalyst for your greatest healing?

Dr. Caroline Hartridge began her medical career firmly rooted in the conventional system. But after years of unexplained symptoms, a missed diagnosis, and a near-death experience during medical school, she found herself questioning everything she thought she knew about health, healing, and the human body.

A Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, craniosacral therapist, Reiki practitioner, and health consultant, Dr. Hartridge now helps people address the deeper roots of illness by exploring the intersection of mind, body, spirit, environment, trauma, and energy. Her work is grounded in a simple but profound principle: the body does not lie.

In this episode, we explore the foundations of osteopathy and how it differs from conventional medicine, the science and philosophy behind craniosacral therapy, the role of fascia in storing trauma, and why emotional and physical injuries may be more connected than most people realize. We discuss concussions, chronic pain, nervous system dysregulation, the body's innate self-healing mechanisms, and the surprising parallels between kayaking, surgery, and energetic medicine.

Dr. Hartridge also shares her personal healing journey, her experiences helping patients navigate the medical system during COVID, her work with medical cannabis, and why she believes true healing requires more than simply managing symptoms.

Pets and Terrain: Fasting, Homeopathy, and the Role of the Owner with Dr. Maureen McMichael03 Jun 202601:50:40

Most veterinarians spend their careers learning how to diagnose disease. Dr. Maureen Ann McMichael became interested in a different question: why was the animal sick in the first place?

A board-certified veterinary critical care specialist and former veterinary school professor, Dr. McMichael has worked in emergency medicine, academia, and specialty practice for decades. Along the way, she began questioning some of the foundational assumptions of modern veterinary medicine, from nutrition and chronic disease to pharmaceuticals, injections, and the growing corporatization of pet healthcare.

In this episode, we explore the changing landscape of veterinary medicine, including the surprising role that corporations like Mars now play in the industry. We discuss species-appropriate diets for dogs and cats, fasting as a tool for healing, environmental toxins, glyphosate exposure, and why chronic itching, anxiety, and behavioral issues may be telling us something important about an animal's terrain.

The conversation also ventures into territory rarely discussed in veterinary circles: homeopathy, the placebo effect in animals, emotional trauma in pets, and the possibility that animals process stress, grief, fear, and even purpose in ways that directly influence their health. Dr. McMichael shares stories from her own practice, including working dogs that became ill when they lost their sense of purpose, animals whose symptoms appeared linked to past trauma, and research showing remarkable placebo responses in dogs with epilepsy.

Whether you're a pet owner, a homeopathy skeptic, or simply curious about what a terrain-based approach to animal health might look like, this conversation offers a perspective that challenges many of the assumptions we've come to accept about disease, healing, and the animals who share our lives.

The Body Follows the Mind: Near-Death, Energy Healing & Intuition with Pearly Montagu27 May 202601:04:00

What happens when a near-death experience completely rewires the way you see the world?

Before Pearly Montagu was working with trauma, intuition, reflexology, and energy healing, she was living a very different life in corporate finance and global shipping. But after a devastating boating accident and profound near-death experience in her late twenties, everything changed. What followed was years of chronic pain, nervous system dysregulation, deep meditation, inner work, and ultimately the emergence of a heightened sensitivity to the emotional and energetic patterns held within the body.

In this episode, we explore the fascinating overlap between terrain, trauma, consciousness, neuroplasticity, intuition, and what Pearly describes as energetic healing. She shares how emotional wounds can manifest physically, why identity and language matter in healing, the role of gratitude and community in regulating the nervous system, and why she believes “the body follows the mind.”

We also dive into:

  •  Near-death experiences and expanded awareness
  •  Trauma stored in the body
  •  Reflexology and energetic imbalances
  •  Meditation, neuro-linguistic programming, and rewiring the mind
  •  Chronic pain and the danger of identifying with illness
  •  The limits of reductionist science
  •  Intuition, manifestation, and purpose
  •  Sacred geometry, healing spaces, and the retreat center she’s building in Greece

Whether you approach this conversation from a spiritual lens, a terrain lens, or simply a curiosity about the deeper nature of healing, we hope this one has you thinking differently about the connection between mind, body, spirit, and energy.

Cancer's Root Cause: Healing Psycho-Emotional & Spiritual Wounds with Paul Leendertse and Aria Konrad19 May 202602:29:22

Is cancer a random genetic accident, an isolated physical event, or a message arising from unresolved stress, suppressed emotion, relationship conflict, and deeply rooted patterns carried through a lifetime?

In this episode, we sit down with Paul Leendertse and Aria Konrad of the Root Cause Institute for a far-reaching conversation on the psycho-emotional and spiritual dimensions of cancer and chronic illness. Building on our recent exploration of Toxin Sequestration Theory with Patrick Coles, this discussion turns inward – into trauma, identity, shadow work, forgiveness, emotional suppression, relationship dynamics, and the hidden stress patterns that Paul says consistently appear beneath specific forms of cancer.

Paul shares how nearly two decades of working closely with people facing cancer led him to observe recurring emotional themes tied to different cancers and body regions. Together, Paul and Aria unpack the difference between coping and truly resolving emotional pain, why victim mentality can block healing, the role of boundaries and self-love, and why they believe symptoms are often signals that something in a person’s life remains deeply unresolved.

We also explore where their work overlaps with – and diverges sharply from – German New Medicine, the concept of “second birth consciousness,” how childhood programming shapes adult disease patterns, and why the Root Cause Institute emphasizes prevention through emotional and spiritual development rather than chasing external cures.

The Root Cause Institute is an educational platform focused on the psycho-emotional, spiritual, and lifestyle factors believed to contribute to cancer and chronic disease. Through online trainings, coaching programs, and practitioner education, the Institute teaches a holistic framework for understanding disease that emphasizes emotional resolution, self-awareness, personal responsibility, relationship health, and inner transformation alongside physical health principles.

Sexual Kung Fu: Cultivating Life Force Energy with Kim Anami12 May 202601:27:56

Sexual health is one of the most overlooked aspects of the terrain conversation, yet the reproductive system is literally the engine of life force. It is the system capable of creating new life, regulating vitality, driving creativity, and profoundly influencing our emotional and energetic state. If that system is depleted, disconnected, or chronically unhealthy, it raises an important question: how healthy can the rest of the terrain truly be?

In this episode, we sit down with holistic sex and relationship coach Kim Anami to explore the connection between sexual energy, human vitality, emotional truth, and self-actualization. Drawing from decades of study in Taoist sexual practices, conscious relationship work, and what she calls “sexual kung fu,” Kim argues that sexuality is far more than a physical act – it is a foundational force that shapes every dimension of our lives.

We discuss the female counterpart to semen retention, the role of sexual energy in overall health, how unresolved emotional patterns manifest physically, and why radical honesty may be one of the most important ingredients in both intimacy and healing. Kim also shares her perspective on conscious monogamy, the relationship between sexuality and creativity, and why so many modern relationships suffer from energetic and emotional disconnection.

This conversation touches on themes that many people were never taught how to discuss openly: reproduction, trauma, intimacy, vulnerability, and the energetic consequences of repression and dishonesty. But these subjects are deeply connected to human flourishing, and we believe they deserve a place in the broader conversation around health and terrain.

The Science of Self-Healing: Bioregulatory Medicine with Dr. James Odell05 May 202601:42:26

In this episode, we’re joined by Dr. James Odell, Executive Director of the Bioregulatory Medicine Institute (BRMI), an organization dedicated to researching and educating on systems-based, non-toxic approaches to health. With a background in naturopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and European biological medicine, Dr. Odell has spent decades studying how the body regulates, adapts, and heals across both biochemical and energetic dimensions.

We explore the core principles of bioregulatory medicine and how closely they align with Terrain Theory, particularly the idea that the body is not broken, but responding. Rather than viewing symptoms as problems to suppress, this model sees them as intelligent processes tied to regulation, detoxification, and adaptation.

Dr. Odell breaks down how toxicity, psycho-emotional stress, environmental exposures, and energetic imbalances shape the terrain...and how these factors contribute to chronic disease when regulation is impaired. We also get into the concept of disease progression, from extracellular matrix congestion to deeper cellular dysfunction, and why supporting drainage and detoxification is foundational to healing.

The conversation expands into areas often overlooked in conventional models, including the role of the biofield, frequency-based therapies, and the intersection of biology and energy. We also discuss practical approaches to restoring balance – from personalized nutrition and fasting to improving sleep, hydration, and daily rhythms.

This episode offers a systems-level perspective on health that moves beyond symptom management and toward understanding how the body maintains – and loses – its ability to self-regulate.

Redefining Cancer: Toxin Sequestration Theory with Patrick Coles28 Apr 202601:44:45

Cancer is typically framed as uncontrolled growth: cells breaking the rules and turning against the body. In this episode, Patrick Coles presents a different theory, one grounded in biophysics and terrain-based thinking, that reframes tumors as part of a larger adaptive process tied to toxic load and metabolic stress.

Coles, trained as a physicist, approaches cancer through the lens of systems, thresholds, and testable predictions. His Toxin Sequestration Theory centers on the idea that chronic exposure to environmental and metabolic stressors – heavy metals, industrial chemicals, microplastics, and dietary inputs – drives the accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). When that burden exceeds the body’s capacity to neutralize it, he proposes that tumor formation may serve as a localized containment strategy.

Throughout the conversation, we examine the mechanisms behind this theory, including why certain toxins are consistently found in tumor tissue, how cancer cells appear to upregulate transporters to pull in specific compounds, and what role oxidative stress plays across chronic disease. We also explore how this model interprets familiar concepts like metastasis, staging, and organ-specific cancers, and how it aligns with a broader terrain framework focused on adaptation, compensation, and internal balance.

The discussion doesn’t shy away from difficult questions. If tumors are involved in sequestration, how should we think about interventions that shrink or destroy them? What happens to the stored burden when those cells are disrupted? And how should outcomes be measured – tumor size, or long-term resilience and lifespan?

Coles is developing this theory in real time, drawing both interest and criticism. This episode captures that process – laying out the core ideas, testing their coherence, and examining where they hold and where they need further work.

Reclaiming Plant Medicine: The Skin-Stress-Terrain Axis with Jodi Allison Scott21 Apr 202601:17:01

Jodi Allison Scott is the co-founder of Green Goo, a plant-based first aid and skincare company built upon the belief that Nature could outperform the artificial and synthetic options found in most drugstores and medicine cabinets. With a Master’s in Health Psychology and a focus in psychoneuroimmunology, her work bridges the gap between modern physiology and time-honored plant medicine.

In this conversation, we explore how the body’s internal state is shaped not just by what we take in, but what we put on, think, and repeatedly do. Jodi walks through her early work training physicians in a more holistic model, the moment she questioned what was actually in a standard first aid kit, and how that led to building a company rooted in plant intelligence and real-world outcomes.

A central theme throughout is the role of the skin—not as a passive barrier, but as an active interface with the environment. It senses, signals, and participates in broader patterns tied to stress, inflammation, and overall balance. From the impact of synthetic ingredients to the way plant compounds can support the body’s existing processes, the conversation connects the dots between surface-level inputs and deeper systemic effects.

There’s also a practical layer woven throughout: how small, repeatable habits influence the body’s state over time, why presence matters more than perfection, and how reducing friction—whether chemical, environmental, or emotional—can shift the direction of those feedback loops.

This one stays grounded in lived experience, from formulating products in a kitchen to navigating the loss and eventual reacquisition of the company, all while holding onto a simple premise: when you support the Terrain, the body responds accordingly.

The Mouth-Body Connection: Biological Dentistry, Oral Terrain, and the One Food to Cut Now with Dr. Jean Nordin14 Apr 202601:32:12

Dentistry is often treated as separate from the rest of the body, a place for cleanings, fillings, and the occasional procedure. In this conversation, Dr. Jean Nordin makes a different case: the mouth is not isolated. It’s one of the clearest reflections of what’s happening systemically, and in many cases, one of the first places imbalance shows up.

Drawing on more than two decades in biological dentistry, Dr. Nordin walks through how oral structure, breathing patterns, diet, and stress all shape the internal environment. From early childhood development and mouth breathing to mineral loss, inflammation, and the oral microbiome, she connects the dots between what’s happening in the mouth and what unfolds throughout the body.

The conversation also moves into some of the more debated areas of modern dentistry – mercury fillings, root canals, wisdom teeth, and hidden jawbone issues – and how these interventions can interact with the body’s broader regulatory systems. Along the way, she explains why prevention is less about products and more about habits, and why rebuilding health is far more difficult than maintaining it from the start.

A major throughline is diet – particularly sugar – and its role in shaping the terrain not just of the mouth, but the entire organism. Dr. Nordin speaks candidly about how deeply sugar is embedded in modern culture, how it influences the microbiome and behavior, and why meaningful change often requires a level of discipline that runs counter to the norm.

This is a look at oral health as part of a much larger system...one that ties together structure, environment, and daily choices in ways that are easy to overlook, but difficult to ignore once seen.

Rethinking Parasites: Toxicity, Remediation, and Cleanse Caveats with Liev Dalton07 Apr 202601:56:23

Parasites are typically framed as invaders. Organisms to fear, eliminate, and cleanse from the body. That assumption runs deep, not only in conventional medicine, but increasingly in alternative health as well.

In this conversation, Liev Dalton of Beyond Terrain presents a very different interpretation.

Drawing from a wide range of literature, including human ingestion studies and ecological research, he argues that the presence of parasites does not equate to causation of disease. Across these observations, a consistent pattern emerges: symptoms arise in the context of compromised terrain – often shaped by toxicity, deficiency, or prior intervention – and not simply from exposure to an organism.

From there, the discussion expands into the potential role of parasites as participants in bioremediation – organisms that may accumulate, transform, or respond to toxicity rather than initiate pathology. This perspective reframes not only parasites, but the broader relationship between the body and the microbial world.

The conversation also examines the growing popularity of parasite cleanses, the cyclical nature of symptom suppression, and the unintended consequences of aggressive protocols that fail to address underlying terrain and root cause.

Along the way, the discussion touches on diagnostics, asymptomatic carriers, environmental parallels, and the limitations of applying a pathogen-based model to complex biological systems.

At its core, this episode returns to a central Terrain principle: the condition of the organism determines the outcome. Presence is not proof of cause. And attempts to control or eliminate symptoms without addressing terrain often lead to repetition rather than resolution.

From Tragedy to Transmutation: Grief, Meaning, and Letting Pain Be Your Teacher with Melanie Ryan31 Mar 202602:14:46

In this deeply personal and expansive conversation, Melanie Ryan returns to the Terrain Theory Podcast to share the story of losing her only son, Justin, and the path of understanding that followed.

What began as a sudden and devastating medical event became something far more complex when viewed through a terrain lens. Rather than reducing the experience to a single cause, Melanie walks through the layered reality of what unfolded – physical trauma, rapid growth, environmental stressors, and the body’s own adaptive processes – all interacting in ways that challenge conventional narratives around health and disease.

But this conversation doesn’t stop at the physical body.

Drawing from her background in trauma therapy, psychoneuroimmunology, and decades of study in Buddhist philosophy and metaphysics, Melanie expands the idea of terrain to include the mind, emotions, and consciousness itself. In the face of unimaginable loss, she shares how this broader framework allowed her not to bypass grief, but to move through it with awareness, presence, and ultimately, transformation.

This episode explores what it means to sit with pain instead of resisting it, how meaning can emerge from even the most difficult experiences, and why suffering – when fully met – can become a catalyst for growth rather than something to escape.

It is a conversation about loss, but also about coherence… about how we interpret life’s most challenging moments… and about the possibility of seeing both the body and the human experience through a much wider lens.

Melanie also shares insights into her ongoing work, including the Golden Shadow Method, her upcoming books, and the ways she now supports others navigating trauma, grief, and deep inner transformation.

The Body’s Hidden Cycle: Sacred Secretion, Lunar Rhythms, and Expanding Consciousness with R Sage24 Mar 202602:13:41

What if the human body isn’t just self-healing… but cyclical, rhythmic, and far more capable than we’ve been led to believe?

In this episode, we sit down with R. Sage to explore what he calls the body’s “hidden cycle” – a monthly, internal process tied to lunar rhythms, the brain, and the nervous system. Often referred to as the sacred secretion, this phenomenon is described as a natural, recurring event within the human body; one that may support regeneration, clarity, and expanded awareness when properly understood and supported.

From a Terrain perspective, this opens up a deeper layer of the conversation:

If health is about removing interference and aligning with natural law… what happens when we begin to consider not just what we put into the body – but when, how, and in what state we live?

Throughout this conversation, we explore:

  • The connection between lunar cycles and human physiology
  • The role of the nervous system, breath, and internal environment in supporting natural processes
  • How modern lifestyle factors—from diet to stress to environmental inputs—may interfere with the body’s innate rhythms
  • The importance of stillness, fasting, and reducing input to allow the body to do what it’s designed to do
  • How R Sage used this "hidden cycle" to expand his consciousness and unlock incredible, almost unbelievable abilities
  • And how awareness itself may be one of the most overlooked aspects of tending the terrain

Whether you view this through a physiological lens, a spiritual one, or somewhere in between, this episode invites a broader question:

Is the terrain just something we cleanse and support…or is it something we can learn to align with, cycle by cycle, and begin to activate to realize our greatest potential?

R. Sage is a researcher, educator, and guide exploring what he describes as the deeper energetic and cyclical processes of the human body, particularly those that have been preserved in ancient traditions but largely excluded from modern health conversations.

Sacred Sexual Energy: Semen Retention, Transmutation, and the Spiritual Path of Masculinity with Will Blunderfield & Justin Leslie17 Mar 202601:43:11

What happens when a man stops leaking his energy into the endless dopamine loops of modern culture and instead learns to cultivate, channel, and protect it?

In this wide-ranging conversation, Ben and Mike sit down with returning guests Will Blunderfield and Justin Leslie to explore the increasingly discussed — and often misunderstood — practice of semen retention. Justin shares his personal journey of over 240 days of retention, framed through discipline, spiritual conviction, and his evolving Christian faith. Will brings his background in Taoist sexual practices, tantra, and “sexual kung fu,” offering a perspective on how sexual energy can be cultivated and transmuted rather than simply suppressed or expelled.

Along the way, the group tackles cultural myths about ejaculation and health, the influence of pornography on young men, the spiritual dimensions of sexuality, and the deeper question of what masculinity looks like in a world that often encourages indulgence rather than mastery.

Rather than advocating repression, the conversation explores reverence – for the body, for sexual energy, and for the role that discipline and intention can play in a person's spiritual path.

Topics discussed:

• Justin’s 240+ day semen retention journey
• Pornography, dopamine loops, and the modern masculinity crisis
• Sexual energy as creative life force
• Taoist and tantric practices of sexual transmutation
• The myth that retention causes prostate cancer
• Lust vs reverence in sexual culture
• Christianity, celibacy, and the spiritual discipline of masculinity
• How retention can influence focus, vitality, and physical performance

Whether you see semen retention as a biological experiment, a spiritual discipline, or simply a provocative idea worth exploring, this conversation invites listeners (both man and woman) to reconsider one of the most taboo — and powerful — aspects of human vitality.

The Golden Five Minutes: Breathwork in Bed, Sleep Science, and Regulating Stress in a Wired World with Tim Thomas10 Mar 202601:33:50

Are you ready to discover the most important five minutes of each day?

In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, Ben and Mike sit down with former Australian Special Forces operator Tim Thomas, creator of the Breathwork in Bed app and a man who has spent the last decade helping veterans, first responders, and everyday people recover from chronic stress, burnout, and the silent damage of poor sleep.

After experiencing the crushing effects of operational fatigue, trauma, and extreme sleep deprivation firsthand, Tim began exploring something deceptively simple: breath. What started as a personal experiment in the dark hours of the night eventually evolved into a powerful system for switching the nervous system from survival mode into deep recovery. Along the way, Tim helped design veteran recovery programs that have directly contributed to saving dozens of lives, while raising over $1.3 million for medical research.

At the center of his work is a concept he calls “The Golden Five Minutes”—the small window before sleep and after waking where the body’s chemistry, nervous system, and mental state can either spiral into stress… or reset into calm and clarity.

This conversation blends battlefield lessons, personal hardship, practical breath techniques, and a refreshing reminder that sometimes the most powerful interventions are also the simplest.

Topics discussed:

• Why sleep may be the most underutilized asset for physical and mental health
• How Special Forces operators manage stress and exhaustion in extreme environments
• The origin of Tim’s Breathwork in Bed technique
• The “three breath” method for switching off a racing mind at night
• Why the final five minutes before sleep can shape the entire next day
• How breathwork shifts the nervous system from fight-or-flight into repair mode
• Why restoring internal safety may be the key to reducing anxiety, burnout, and even suicidal ideation
• Practical tools anyone can use tonight to improve sleep and regulate stress

If you’ve ever laid awake at night with a racing mind, felt stuck in a constant state of “wired but tired,” or wondered how to reclaim calm in a chronically overstimulated world, this episode offers both perspective and practical tools.

Roadkill for Breakfast: Raw Carnivore, Radical Discernment, and Ascension Through Gnosis with Jonathan Houston03 Mar 202602:06:02

In this episode, we sit down with Jonathan Houston — known online as Ethically Carnivore — to explore one of the most radical expressions of species-appropriate living you’re likely to encounter.

Jonathan eats raw meat. He eats wild game. And yes — he eats roadkill. (Which landed him in jail, a story he shares in the episode.)

But this conversation goes far beyond shock value.

We dive into the evolutionary case for humans as apex predators, including stable isotope analysis and what it reveals about early human diets. We examine the ethical implications of modern agriculture versus scavenging. We wrestle with overpopulation, sustainability, and whether an 8-billion-person civilization can realistically return to a truly species-appropriate way of eating.

Jonathan shares why he believes discernment is more important than dogma, why blind faith and truth-seeking cannot coexist, and why not every truth should be broadcast indiscriminately. We discuss terrain, fear, risk, and the psychology of certainty — and how the modern human has become detached from death itself.

We also explore his newly-released book, Ascension Through Gnosis, and the idea that salvation — or awakening — comes not through belief, but through direct knowledge and lived experience.

Whether you agree with Jonathan or not, you’ll walk away thinking more deeply about:

  • What “ethical” really means in the context of food
  • Whether humans evolved primarily as carnivores
  • The difference between longevity and optimal function
  • Why modern systems may be incompatible with ancestral nutrition
  • And what it means to seek truth without becoming dogmatic

Slaughtering Sacred Cows: The Vitamin A Debate, Toxic Bile, and Copper Concerns with Dr. Garrett Smith24 Feb 202602:22:08

Organ meats. Retinol. Detox protocols. Sacred cows in the alternative health world.

Dr. Garrett Smith, aka the Nutrition Detective, joins us to unpack the growing debate around vitamin A toxicity, bile metabolism, and why some of the most celebrated “superfoods” may not work the same for everyone.

At the center of the conversation is his Toxic Bile Theory — the idea that bile is not just a digestive fluid, but one of the body’s primary waste routes. When overloaded, he argues, it can shift from protective to inflammatory and drive chronic symptoms many people can’t seem to resolve.

We explore where detox culture goes wrong, why “healing crises” may not be what they seem, and why stopping ongoing exposures may matter more than adding another supplement.

In this episode, we discuss:

  • The Vitamin A debate: deficiency vs. toxicity
  • Why serum retinol levels often rise with age
  • Toxic Bile Theory and bile as a terrain issue
  • Organ meats and why some people feel worse on them
  • Detoxification vs. agitation
  • Raw milk vs. conventional milk — what actually matters
  • Copper toxicity concerns and mineral balance
  • Why MSG may be good for you (seriously!)

This episode will challenge assumptions, especially for those in ancestral or nose-to-tail nutrition circles. As always, the goal isn’t to dictate conclusions, but to examine ideas and test them against your own experience and terrain.

Before Modern TCM: Classical Chinese Medicine and the Roots of Terrain Theory with Tommy Hughes17 Feb 202602:10:25

Long before modern TCM was standardized, systematized, and filtered through a biomedical lens, Classical Chinese Medicine described health as harmony...not the absence of pathogens, but the presence of balance.

In this conversation, Tommy Hughes walks us back to the original canon — the Huangdi Neijing, the language of Qi, the cosmology of seasons, and the principle of treating what is not yet diseased.

We explore the distinction between pathogenesis and salutogenesis, why ancient physicians prioritized vitality over diagnosis, and how the classical view of epidemics centered on terrain, climate, and susceptibility rather than transmission alone.

Along the way, we unpack:

  • The differences between modern TCM and its classical foundations
  • Why “treating what is not yet diseased” represents a fundamentally different medical paradigm
  • How dampness and seasonal energetics shaped classical understandings of epidemics
  • The principle of correlative resonance and what we tune ourselves to
  • Why chronic disease in the classical texts implicates the Heart and the spirit, not just the body
  • The risks of biohacking extremes in a system built on balance

This is a return to first principles. A medicine rooted in rhythm, relationship, and responsibility for one’s terrain.

Is Classical Chinese Medicine the original Terrain Theory?

Fascia and Flow: Diaphragms, Decompression, and the Mechanics of Dis-ease with Deanna Hansen10 Feb 202601:17:56

What if many of the chronic issues we label as “disease” are really the result of lost space, broken flow, and a body that can no longer breathe from the inside out?

In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, we’re joined by fascia researcher and Block Therapy founder Deanna Hansen for a deep exploration of fascia as the physical environment of the body...and why its condition may determine how well your terrain can heal, detoxify, and regenerate.

Deanna reframes fascia not as passive connective tissue, but as the body’s primary communication and flow system – the medium through which oxygen, nutrients, lymph, and waste must move. When posture, stress, trauma, and dysfunctional breathing compress this system, flow breaks down. Elimination slows. Cells suffocate. Symptoms emerge.

Throughout the conversation, you’ll learn:

  • Why diaphragmatic breathing is the engine of circulation, lymphatic movement, and nervous system regulation
  • Why most people can’t access proper breath until fascial compression is released
  • How gravity, posture, and chronic stress physically reshape the body over time
  • Why pain is often the first signal of blocked flow...and how to work with it instead of against it
  • How fascia decompression restores space so the body can clear waste and reestablish balance

Most importantly, this episode gives listeners a new lens for understanding their health: not as something to be forced or fixed, but as a terrain to be opened, decompressed, and allowed to flow.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re “doing all the right things” but your body still feels stuck, this conversation may explain why...and show you a path back to movement, breath, and internal flow.

Beyond Chemtrails: Frequency Fence Updates, Control Grids, and Consciousness Plateaus with Mitch the Orgone Donor03 Feb 202601:57:17

Since his last appearance on the Terrain Theory Podcast, Mitch The Orgone Donor has been thinking bigger.

In this wide-ranging return conversation, Mitch challenges one of the most entrenched narratives in the alternative research world: that chemtrails and geoengineering are the agenda itself. Instead, he argues that what we see in the sky may be a symptom – a visible byproduct of a much larger system of control operating at the level of frequency, energy, and consciousness.

We explore why Mitch declined invitations to major chemtrail documentaries, how mainstream explanations can function as red herrings, and why entire movements can plateau once a “satisfying” explanation is found. Drawing striking parallels to debates around virology and Terrain Theory, Mitch asks a question that quietly dismantles certainty:

Why are we allowed to know this?

This episode dives into frequency fences, control grids, HAARP, 5G infrastructure, data centers, weather modification, and the possibility that the most effective forms of control no longer need planes at all. We also examine the role of fear-based narratives, the limits of awareness without solutions, and what it actually means to think bigger in a reality that may be far stranger – and far more layered – than we’re comfortable admitting.

If you're seeking easy answers or familiar villains, this one isn'r for you. Join Mitch as he invites us to move past surface-level explanations, question where stories originate, and reconsider what real solutions might look like when the problem itself has been misidentified.

Before Diet Wars: Aajonus Vonderplanitz, the Primal Diet, and Eating For Your Lineage with Phoenix Be27 Jan 202601:57:51

For months on Terrain Theory, we’ve been exploring nutrition through the lens of terrain – questioning fasting, fruit-heavy paradigms, Natural Hygiene, and the idea that healing happens not through intervention, but through removal of interference. In this episode, we step before the diet wars entirely and ask a deeper question: what is the human body actually built from, and who are we eating for?

Our guest is Phoenix Be, a Primal Diet coach who was personally mentored by Aajonus Vonderplanitz and has lived the Primal Diet for over two decades. Rather than framing nutrition as belief or ideology, Phoenix approaches food as biological construction material – something that shapes not just individual health, but generational vitality.

We explore Aajonus’ core principles, the logic behind raw animal foods, and why true regeneration may unfold over decades, not weeks. Phoenix shares powerful firsthand stories of recovery, detoxification, and what happens when people abandon short-term protocols in favor of long-term terrain repair. We also examine where Natural Hygiene and fasting paradigms may fall short, how detoxification is often misinterpreted as disease, and why community support is essential when walking outside mainstream nutritional narratives.

This conversation challenges modern health culture’s obsession with optimization and immediacy, offering instead a lineage-based view of healing – one where nutrition is about restoring biological intelligence, rebuilding terrain over time, and creating healthier futures for generations we’ll never meet.

If you’ve been following our recent conversations around species-appropriate diets, healing crises, and Terrain Theory, this episode doesn’t choose sides...it widens the frame.

150 Years of Missing Terrain Science: Natural Hygiene, Healing Crises, and the Human Diet with Lauren Farris20 Jan 202602:05:16

What if much of today’s terrain theory conversation is missing its own scientific foundation?

In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, we’re joined by Lauren Farris – co-founder of the Terrain Model Refutes Germ Theory community and founder of The Raw Key – for a deep dive into what she argues has been largely overlooked: 150 years of natural hygiene science that followed Béchamp and predates modern medicine entirely.

Lauren shares her personal journey from chronic illness – including IBS, migraines, anxiety, fatigue, and a breast mass – to profound healing through natural hygiene principles, a fruit-centered raw diet, and allowing the body to complete its own elimination processes without intervention. Central to this conversation is the concept of the healing crisis – why symptoms like fever, mucus, rashes, and exhaustion may not be signs of failure or infection, but evidence of the body finally doing what it was designed to do.

We explore why Lauren believes humans are biologically frugivores, not omnivores or carnivores, examining jaw structure, digestion, protein metabolism, and the difference between nutrient density and assimilation. She explains why the body doesn’t “use” dietary protein but builds its own from amino acids, why meat putrefaction matters, and why elimination, not supplementation or suppression, is at the core of real healing.

The conversation also challenges popular ideas around detox, herbs, superfoods, fasting, salt, hydration, and food-as-medicine, while grounding everything in observable biological law rather than belief or trend.

This episode is not about comfort or compromise. It’s about revisiting forgotten science, questioning assumptions – even within the terrain community – and asking what happens when we stop interfering with the body’s intelligence and finally let it heal.

Becoming Unprogrammable: Coherence, Frequency, and Ditching Matrix Water with Dr. Jo Whitaker13 Jan 202601:33:56

What happens when someone trained at the very heart of modern science begins to question everything they were taught?

In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, we’re joined by Dr. Jo Whitaker, a scientist with a PhD in genetic vaccines and advanced training in genetics, microbiology, immunology, and oncology, whose career took a radical turn when the prevailing scientific narrative stopped matching observable reality.

Trained at the highest levels of academic science, Dr. Jo once worked squarely within the frameworks of germ theory, molecular biology, and genetic intervention. But during the COVID era, unresolved contradictions around immunity, vaccine design, research integrity, and public health policy forced her to look deeper.

What she found wasn’t simply corruption or bad incentives, but a foundational blind spot in how biology itself is understood.

This conversation moves beyond surface-level critiques to explore what may be missing entirely from modern medicine: water, charge, coherence, consciousness, and the quantum nature of living systems.

We discuss why so much published science is unreproducible, how academic incentives shape “truth,” and why the body may function less like a biochemical machine and more like a resonant, electromagnetic field interacting constantly with its environment.

Dr. Jo shares her work with Crystal Water Experience, where she’s developing practical ways for people to directly engage with coherence, grounding, and biological sovereignty – without outsourcing intuition to institutions.

This episode is not about adopting new beliefs. It’s about reclaiming curiosity, experimentation, and direct experience – hallmarks of real science that many feel have been lost.

If you’ve ever sensed that health is about more than pathogens or questioned why modern biology feels increasingly disconnected from lived reality, this conversation invites you to explore what lies beneath...and beyond.

Daily Non-Negotiables: Highlights From 202530 Dec 202500:29:23

At the end of every Terrain Theory episode, we ask our guests the same question:

What are your non-negotiables, the daily habits you do to tend to your terrain?

In this special year-end episode, we revisit some of the most compelling answers from 2025. Across disciplines and perspectives, our guests reflect on rhythm and circadian health, movement in nature, nutrition and species-appropriate eating, discipline and simplicity, stillness and nervous-system regulation, and the role of joy in maintaining coherence.

Rather than offering a single prescription, these conversations reveal a shared principle: health emerges when we stop forcing the body and start aligning with the rhythms of the natural world.

As we close out the year and look ahead to 2026, this episode invites you to reflect on your own non-negotiables...and what it truly means to live in alignment.

Wellness Check #10: Free Birth Babies, Lunar Returns, and Right Thinking for Terrain Living19 Dec 202501:26:47

In this Wellness Check episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, Ben and Mike sit down with their Primary Healthcare Providers – themselves – for a grounded, honest check-in as 2025 comes to a close and 2026 comes into view.

This conversation spans the deeply personal and the deeply practical.

Ben shares the story of welcoming a new baby through an unexpected, peaceful home birth – an experience that reframes birth not as a medical emergency, but as a natural, intuitive process when fear and intervention are removed. From newborn rhythms and breastfeeding challenges to trust in the body’s ability to self-regulate, the conversation reflects what it looks like to live the philosophy of terrain, not just talk about it.

Mike reflects on the evolution of his own health journey – how habits that once felt radical are now simply life. He opens up about anxiety, career pressure, and the realization that right thinking may matter more than perfect diet or protocols. Together, they explore how stress, rhythm, circadian health, cold exposure, sauna, fasting, and seasonal living all intersect – not as hacks, but as ways of aligning with nature.

The episode also looks forward. Lunar returns, fasting cycles, creative rhythms, aging, concussion awareness, and the responsibility that comes with truly believing the body can heal...all become part of an ongoing inquiry rather than fixed conclusions.

This is not a prescriptive episode. It’s a reflective one. A reminder that health is not something we outsource, optimize once, or solve forever, but something we participate in daily, with curiosity, humility, and presence.

As always, this conversation is for educational purposes only and reflects personal experience. It is not medical advice.

Remember:
You are light.
You are love.
You are your Primary Healthcare Provider.

Resonance Over Rules: Fruit, Fasting, and Finding Your Nutritional Frequency with Marlon Azurdia12 Dec 202501:44:17

After more than three years, Marlon Azurdia returns to the Terrain Theory Podcast...and he brings with him a depth of lived experience that can only come from someone fully committed to walking the path.

A former CrossFit Games athlete who famously competed as a vegan, Marlon has spent the last decade challenging every nutritional and performance assumption placed in front of him. In this episode, he shares how that journey has evolved since we last spoke: from a year as a fruitarian experimenting with the mucusless diet, to a powerful nine-day fast, to the creation and continued refinement of his framework, Phitlosophy: a fusion of movement, mindfulness, and meditation grounded in alchemical principles.

This conversation is part of our ongoing series exploring diet and the human terrain, and the question at its heart: Is there one species-appropriate way of eating for humans?

Or are we meant to tune our bodies like instruments, adjusting the dial as we resonate with different foods, experiences, and levels of consciousness?

Marlon reminds us that diet is more than macros, labels, or ideology. It is information. It is resonance. It is a pathway to inner standing. And when we learn to quiet the noise, break pattern, and return to zero, we may finally be able to hear what our terrain is asking for.

If you’ve ever questioned your own nutritional path, struggled with polarization around diet, or wondered how to integrate body, mind, and spirit through what you consume, this episode offers a perspective both liberating and deeply grounding.

Defying Today’s Diet Wars: Natural Hygiene, Carnivore Counterpoints, and Lifelong Vitality with Mark Huberman05 Dec 202501:32:32

What if one of the longest-running human health experiments has been hiding in plain sight...quietly unfolding across the life of a man who’s never eaten the Standard American Diet, never accepted the inevitability of chronic disease, and never believed that health comes from a pill, an injection, or a supplement?

In this episode, we sit down with Mark Huberman, President of the National Health Association and lifelong practitioner of Natural Hygiene – a philosophy of health that predates today’s dietary wars and challenges the assumptions behind the carnivore, Weston A. Price, and “ancestral” nutrition movements.

Mark’s story is extraordinary:

He was raised from birth on a raw whole-food, plant-exclusive diet, maintained it for the first 32 years of his life, and has continued to live SOS-free for nearly 75 years. His parents, early adopters of the Natural Hygiene approach, overcame their own health crises, rejected 1950s norms, and raised Mark in an environment where fresh air, water fasting, organic gardening, rest, and unprocessed foods were simply “how you lived.”

Building on our recent conversation with Mariah Manazza, this episode dives deeper into a perspective on nutrition and healing that sits far outside modern mainstream thinking – but that offers powerful insights into why our society is sicker than ever, and why removing what harms us may matter more than adding what helps.

We explore:
• Mark’s raw-food upbringing and the health crisis that shaped it
• The foundations of Natural Hygiene and what makes it terrain-based
• Why he’s never eaten salt, oil, or sugar, even at restaurants
• The philosophy and physiology behind water fasting
• Whether there truly is a “species-appropriate” human diet
• How Natural Hygiene challenges today’s viral nutrition trends
• Why omission beats addition when it comes to healing
• Mark’s non-negotiables for longevity, vitality, and clarity

Whether or not you agree with his conclusions, Mark’s lived experience offers a rare counterpoint to modern nutrition narratives, and a compelling case for the power of living in harmony with nature.

Fired for Saying No: COVID Mandates, School Shutdowns, and Alternative Education with Stephanie Edmonds28 Nov 202501:48:42

New York City history teacher Stephanie Edmonds never imagined that her dedication to her students would one day cost her the career she loved. But during COVID, as she watched extended school shutdowns devastate her students’ mental health and academic progress, she began speaking publicly about the harms she was witnessing firsthand. When New York City rolled out vaccine mandates for teachers, Stephanie refused — and was ultimately fired for standing by her convictions.

What began as a personal crisis became the catalyst for a profound transformation.

In this episode, Stephanie shares the inside story of how pandemic politics, teachers’ unions, and bureaucratic pressure kept schools closed far longer than promised — and how those decisions reshaped a generation of children. She also takes us behind the scenes of 15 Days: The Real Story of America’s Pandemic School Closures, the new documentary she helped create that exposes what was really happening behind closed doors.

Today, Stephanie is part of the Lavender Village, a homeschool-based, spiritually grounded learning community in Connecticut, where she teaches, supports families, and helps build a parallel model of education outside the systems that failed so many. Through her work and her platform Teaching Liberty, she’s showing what it looks like to reclaim agency, create community, and live in alignment with deeper principles.

This is a conversation about courage, intuition, educational freedom, and choosing creation over compliance. Stephanie’s story is a powerful reminder that new systems are already emerging — built by the people willing to take the first step.

When the “Healthiest Diet” Makes You Sick: Mucus, Natural Hygiene, and Species-Appropriate Eating with Mariah Manazza 21 Nov 202501:39:18

What if the diet you believe is healing your body is actually holding it hostage?
In this episode, we sit down with Mariah Manazza — once a full-on homesteader living the traditional diet dream — as she reveals how raw milk, pasture-raised meats, and ancestral traditions weren’t enough. In fact, they nearly broke her. Migraines, depression, numbness, leg pain, cysts — all symptoms she was told she’d have for life. Until she asked herself: What am I really designed to eat?”

Through 12 years of self-experimentation, Mariah discovered the under-told story of mucus-forming foods, the power of instinct over conventional nutrition, the radical simplicity of natural hygiene, and the terrain-centric truth that restored her to full symptom-free living.

We dive into:

  • Why some “gold-standard” ancestral foods might suppress healing instead of supporting it
  • The overlooked role of mucus in disrupting the terrain and masking underlying disease
  • How fruit, fasting, and a return to nature’s laws became Mariah’s doorway to health
  • The nine pillars of natural hygiene she applies in everyday living
  • Why instinct and internal feedback often trump labs, protocols, and popular dogmas

Whether you’re committed to the traditional diet movement, curious about natural hygiene, or simply seeking a broader perspective on healing — this conversation will invite you to question, reflect, and evolve.

Join us as we explore what “nutrition” means, uncover the common threads across opposing approaches, and discover how going less might actually mean living more.

The Terrain Toxin We Celebrate: Alcohol, Addiction, and the Path Beyond with David Nutt14 Nov 202501:29:25

Alcohol is the world’s most socially accepted toxin — a substance woven into our rituals, relationships, and celebrations, yet responsible for immeasurable physical, emotional, and societal harm. What happens when we finally confront that truth?

In this episode, we sit down with Professor David Nutt, neuropsychopharmacologist, author, and founder of GABA Labs, to explore alcohol’s hidden toll on the human terrain — from cellular toxicity and neuroinflammation to cultural indoctrination and addiction.

David explains how alcohol damages nearly every system in the body, why our governments and industries continue to protect it, and how his groundbreaking work is offering a path forward. Through Sentia, a functional, non-alcoholic alternative designed to replicate alcohol’s social and relaxing effects without the poison, David and his team are reimagining what it means to connect, unwind, and celebrate — consciously.

We discuss:

  • Why alcohol remains the most harmful drug in Western society
  • The biological and social mechanisms behind addiction
  • How alcohol reshapes the terrain at every level — from the liver to the mind
  • The emerging movement toward functional, toxin-free social drinking
  • Sentia, GABA Labs, and the future of conscious conviviality

Listen in as we uncover the paradox of the terrain toxin we celebrate — and the promise of a future beyond it.

Light, Water, and the Quantum Terrain: Circadian Health and Applied Quantum Biology with Nikko Kennedy07 Nov 202501:18:15

What if your body isn’t just a collection of organs, but a living, self-organizing field of light, water, and energy? In this episode of the Terrain Theory Podcast, Ben and Mike sit down with Nikko Kennedy, Director of Research at the Institute of Applied Quantum Biology, to explore the frontier where circadian health meets quantum biology.

Nikko explains how quantum physics underlies the biological processes of life, from the way mitochondria generate energy to how our cells structure water. She reveals why the body doesn’t actually produce “waste,” how light and darkness regulate healing, and why technology must evolve to harmonize with our natural frequencies. The conversation travels from circadian disruption and mitochondrial optimization to birth physiology, environmental design, and consciousness, all viewed through the lens of applied quantum biology.

Listeners will learn:

  • Why circadian rhythm and light exposure shape everything from sleep to hormones to mood
  • How quantum effects like electron tunneling occur inside our mitochondria
  • What a “minimum effective dose” of darkness really means for mental and physical health
  • The surprising connection between mitochondrial density and personality
  • Why red light, grounding, and structured water matter more than you think

From dark retreats to sunlight therapy, maternal health to quantum coherence, this wide-ranging discussion invites you to reimagine what it means to tend to your terrain at the most fundamental level of reality.

Elizabeth Vernon on Biologic Inserts, Human Hierarchy, and Kennedy as Controlled Opposition31 Oct 202501:54:01

Elizabeth Vernon is a beekeeper-activist, herbalist, and founder of Queen Bees Farmacy, dedicated to bringing together the world of wild-crafted remedies, advocacy, and deep terrain insight.

In this episode, we dive into the hidden dimensions of health and resistance — from how screen time is reshaping our bodies and nervous systems to the untested and unknown dangers of biologics. Elizabeth pulls no punches as we unpack how certain systems of “controlled opposition” (yes, we talk about RKF Jr., Elizabeth's experiences with him and his team, and what it means) muddy the waters of health freedom, and how reconnecting with nature’s rhythms — bees, herbs, terrain, community — is the original rebellious medicine.

Look beyond the surface and discover what really supports your body, mind, and environment in a world of distraction and distraction’s design. This conversation with Elizabeth will challenge you — and empower you — to take back your terrain

Dr. Anna Sitkoff is a naturopathic physician and herbalist whose clinical and personal journey has been guided by a deep relationship with medicinal mushrooms. In this episode, she shares how her early exposure to natural medicine—and a life-changing experience with her father’s cancer treatment—sparked a decade-long exploration into the world of fungi.

Dr. Sitkoff unpacks the science and spirit of mushrooms: their role in restoring the body’s terrain through mitochondrial repair, gut balance, and nervous system regulation, how ergothioneine functions as a cellular protector, and why not all mushroom supplements are created equal. We also explore the intersection of psychedelics and healing, motherhood and mycology, and what it means to truly “become one with the mushroom.”

If you’ve ever wondered how these ancient organisms support everything from detoxification to emotional resilience, this conversation offers a grounded, eye-opening look at the power of mushrooms to support the healing of both body and mind.

Ryan Connor and Briana Connor Garcia on PFAS poisoning, Superfund scandals, and seeking justice19 Sep 202501:26:20

Ryan Connor and Briana Connor Garcia are siblings who grew up in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, right around the corner from a landfill that later became designated an EPA Superfund site. Unbeknownst to them, they spent their childhood exposed to toxic "forever chemicals" that leached into the soil and water, poisoning countless community members in the process. Following separate cancer diagnoses and years of debilitating health issues, they are on a crusade to raise awareness of the dangers of PFAS and similar chemicals, bring accountability to the companies responsible, and to heal themselves using alternative medicines.

In our conversation with Ryan and Briana we discussed:

  • Their upbringing in Tewksbury
  • The environmental toxins they were unknowingly exposed to
  • The health consequences they and others in the community have faced
  • How the next Superfund site could be just down your road...and you'd never know it
  • Testing for "forever chemicals" in your system
  • Holding these companies accountable
  • Using terrain-forward methods to heal
