EPISODE 2.7 At Home: Hospitality to our nearest neighbor with Rachel Jankovic

Season 2 · Episode 7

jeudi 6 juin 2024Duration 51:31

Jesus commands us to "love our neighbor as ourselves" but who is our neighbor?  Is it the person next door, your best friend across town, or does it also include the people you wake up to each morning?

Join me as Rachel and I discuss how hospitality is not just something we pull out for guests on Friday night, but should be a daily practice towards the people in our own home. We talk about things that might distract or hinder us from prioritizing this, as well as how we can choose to gladly share with our family all that the Lord has shared with us.

It's an encouraging episode, I hope you enjoy!

EPISODE 2.6 Beginnings: Hospitality through the college years with Elizabeth Clayton

Season 2 · Episode 6

jeudi 30 mai 2024Duration 37:28

Today I'm sharing a conversation with my friend Liz, and we chat about what hospitality has looked like for her over the last few years of transitioning out of her parents home into student ministry and then to the UK for studies.

Liz is a kindred spirit with a love for people and hosting (and candles!), and it was fun to hear how her childhood home inspired and encouraged her to prioritize hosting right from the start of living on her own.  We talk lots of practical details of what being hospitable has looked like for her with housemates, classmates, and while living in a new country.  I hope you enjoy!

(FYI: I recorded this last year in the early days of my podcast and I'm sorry to say I didn't nail the audio on this one. I've tweaked it as best I could, but still wanted to share the conversation because I think it's an important one, you just might need to listen with the volume all the way up!)

EPISODE 4 - Loving people through seasons of grief and loss, with Kristen Morris

Season 1 · Episode 4

mardi 6 juin 2023Duration 43:05

Today I'm talking with longtime friend, Kristen, a wife and mom from Florida.  Kristen and her husband Caleb are well acquainted with seasons of grief and loss, having both lost family members to cancer, and even more recently having walked through a serious cancer diagnosis and treatment for Caleb.

If hospitality is a love for people, and it is, then it is so much more than just having someone over for the occasional dinner. We talk about how we can love and carry people walking through these dark seasons, why it's so important and how it made such a difference in her own life.  I hope this episode helps you think outside the box of typical hospitality to imagine ways you can love those experiencing grief and loss.

How did Christ, with no home of His own, show hospitality and obey the second greatest command to love your neighbor as yourself?

Today I'm talking about one specific example of Christ's hospitality in the gospel accounts, I hope it encourages you to show hospitality even when you feel like what you have to give isn't enough.
