What Should Be The Bills Biggest Splash?07 Mar 202500:46:21

It's another edition of The Podbag on Talking Buffalo and Patrick Moran is responding to listener questions, comments and takes almost entirely focused on the Buffalo Bills, many of them contentious on how the Bills should proceed with this offseason.

It seems pretty apparent that the Bills are looking to add a major piece or two to what's clearly a championship caliber roster led by a MVP quarterback. How Brandon Beane should prioritize handlings needs is hotly debated. There's certainly a school of thought that the Bills should trade for DK Metcalf, one of the best wide receivers in the game that Seattle is reportedly willing to shop. However, Patrick explains that while having Metcalf in the fold would be amazing, it absolutely shouldn't be their top priority.
Instead, Patrick explains why adding a high impact pass rusher should be most important and makes his case for Josh Sweat of the Philadelphia Eagles, on the assumption Myles Garrett won't end up ultimately traded.

Also, Patrick responds to someone asking him for the most realistic path to the Bills getting over the hump, if he'd have interest in Joey Bosa, is Kaiir Elam's time in Buffalo toast and a potential Garrett trade scenario. That plus a Sabres rant and thanks for being around for episode number 1,000 this past week!

Buffalo Bills Free Agency Period "Wish List"06 Mar 202500:59:36

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren of SB Nation to react to several Buffalo Bills & NFL news and rumors in addition to Matt compiling a Bills wish list of sorts with free agency set to begin in less than a week.

As of this recording nothing significant has happened with the Bills roster this offseason other than the extension of wide receiver Khalil Shakir. The guys react to Shakir's deal now that the full contract deals are available. Shakir being the lone notable Bills transaction is surely about to change, possibly by the time you're listening to this. The guys have thoughts on how after a quiet offseason a year ago in terms of additions, nearly everything is at least potentially on the table for the Bills this time around.

Matt spends time going over what he considers his Bills wish list, running off the players he'd like to see the team re-sign as well as extend. Of course there will be additions and Matt has a few players he thinks would be a great fit for the 2025 Buffalo Bills---and a few names may surprise you.

Also, they react to Matt Stafford sticking with the Los Angeles Rams and Sam Darnold set to cash in with free agency. That plus does it make sense for Davante Adams to play with Aaron Rodgers somewhere else again and tons more.

"Yay Or Nay" Buffalo Bills Edition (Plus, Sabres Ready To Return)21 Feb 202501:00:24

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Buffalo blogger and podcaster Chris to discuss both the Buffalo Bills and Sabres, including a segment devoted to eight potential upcoming scenarios for the Bills.

As always this is an interesting time of the year for the Bills and every team in the NFL. It may not feel like it at the moment but championship teams are born or die over the next few months based on decisions made about players to re-sign, let walk, cut, trade away, trade for, sign in free agency and of course the NFL draft. Patrick points out eight potential scenarios that could happen with the Bills over the coming days and weeks and tasks Chris with playing general manager Brandon Beane for each. Chris discusses if he would make each proposed move or not and elaborates why.

On the Sabres front the team is ready to return to action Saturday after a two week league-wide break for the Four Nations Face Off. Chris has thoughts on Lindy Ruff saying the Sabres can still back into the wild card mix by approaching games a certain way. He also comments on Jordan Greenway returning to the lineup, who he's likely playing with, why Zach Benson has been skating on the fourth line, Devon Levi owning the nets in Rochester and Chris' realistic expectations for the remaining 28 games.

That plus sound issues that have plagued Talking Buffalo over the past few days, a few big show announcements and plenty more.

Be sure to follow Chris on X at @2ITB_Buffalo and check out the Two in the Box blog in addition to the Instigator Podcast.

Bills vs Titans Preview & Bold Predictions (Plus Sabres Stink Already)18 Oct 202400:57:44

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full Buffalo Bills vs Tennessee Titans preview alongside game bold predictions in addition voicing frustrating at yet another crappy Buffalo Sabres start.

The Bills return to Orchard Park this weekend after spending the past three weeks on the road. They'll face a Titans team that's 1-4 with their season already on the brink. Patrick talks about the Titans having one of the worst records in the league despite having a defense that's among the league's best, led by stud defensive tackle Jeffrey Simmons. There's also plenty of weapons on offense but unfortunately for them it's been negated by horrible quarterback play from Will Levis.

Patrick goes over a handful of keys to victory for Buffalo this week, including continuing to be relatively aggressive in the passing game even if the Titans have the top ranked pass defense in the league, containing Tony Pollard in the running game and simply not falling asleep through most the first half like they did the last time they were home against an inferior team to start the season.

Bold predictions are made as well, including a backup running back scoring a touchdown, a prominent defensive player finally making impactful plays and Josh Allen throwing his first pick of the season. From there it's time for a score prediction and spoiler alert---Patrick's not picking Buffalo to lose.

Patrick also spends some time talking about being frustrated that the Sabres are off to a pretty crappy start again and how he's ready to remove any emotional investment in the team going forward. That and much more.

Ugly Wins Still Look Sexy In The Standings (Bills Biggest Takeaways)17 Oct 202401:11:14

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation and together they have their biggest takeaways on the heels of the Buffalo Bills 23-20 victory on Monday Night football over the New York Jets, an ugly win that looked very sexy in the standings on Tuesday morning. This subject matter was pushed back a day after the major Amari Cooper trade on Tuesday afternoon.

Monday was a game marred by penalties, missed kicks and unforced errors by both teams but in the end, the Bills prevailed and as a result now have a commanding 2.5 game lead over the Jets just six weeks into the season, something very expected. Patrick spends time going over some of the biggest reasons the Bills moved firmly into the driver's seat in the AFC east, including Josh Allen reverting back to the type of play that had him looking like a strong MVP candidate through the first three weeks of season. Also, Ray Davis got the start for an injured James Cook and boy did he ever take the ball and run with it, literally.

Also discussed is the huge (huge) returns of Taron Johnson and Taylor Rapp playing a big role in Buffalo's win, AJ Epenesa being a factor as well as Curtis Samuel having his first meaningful week as a Bill.

This all helped overcome many of Buffalo's deficiencies, including the inexcusable decision by Sean McDermott just before halftime, a defense that got away with yet again giving up too many explosive plays, a kicker who has the yips at this point and other stupid mistakes the Bills made.

They also talks about the Jets trading for Davante Adams and of course, Cooper joining the Bills after a Brandon Beane trade and an opportunity for the Bills to really run away with their division over the next month and much more.

Reactions On The Huge Bills Amari Cooper Trade (900th Episode)16 Oct 202401:20:11

On this special 900th episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for a bunch of reactions to the Buffalo Bills pulling the trigger on a huge trade Tuesday, acquiring wide receiver from Amari Cooper in a move that's expected to make Buffalo's offense dramatically more dangerous.

Before jumping into the conversation, Patrick reveals that he originally taped today's show and had it set it to for Wednesday morning, but that changed as he was editing and the news broke of the Cooper trade. While not ideal to have a taped episode essentially become garbage, it's a small price to pay for the Bills to come away with a guy who instantly becomes their No. 1 receiever.

Joe, who's been incredibly vocal about the Bills lack of talent at wide receiver going all the way back to the Stefon Diggs trade in April and even before that, has a ton of takes on this move as does Patrick,, who calls this one of the biggest no-brainer trades involving the Bills he remembers in his lifetime.

The guys also debate where this leaves the Bills in terms of where they stand in the AFC. They also spend some time going over their biggest takeaways from Monday night's win on the road against the New York Jets--- a game that was pretty ugly in real time but sure looked sexy in the standings on Tuesday morning. That and plenty more.

Allen, Davis, Rapp Carry Bills Over Jets (Live Instant Reactions)15 Oct 202400:37:50

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers instant live reactions in the moments following the Buffalo Bills squeezing out a 23-20 road victory over the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.

Let's be honest--this was one of the ugliest games you'll see and if you didn't have a horse in the race you probably would've turned the game off long before the final whistle. But at the end of the day the only thing that mattered for Buffalo was getting a win. They did and now have a firm hold on the AFC east six weeks into the season.

Before hitting on all the ugly stuff Patrick highlights three players that were critical to the Bills winning this game: Ray Davis, Josh Allen and Taylor Rapp. Raise your hand if you expected to read that before the game.

Patrick spends (plenty of) time talking about all the ugly from this game, from the 22 combined accepted penalties to the Bills ridiculous defensive call at the end of the first half that allowed Aaron Rodgers to complete a hail mary.

Patrick also brags on hitting all three of his bold predictions before the game, what this win means for Buffalo, has Tyler Bass attempted his last kick for the Bills and much more.

Buffalo Bills vs NY Jets Preview & Bold Predictions14 Oct 202401:04:42

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino for a full preview of Monday Night's game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets in addition to Bills keys to the game, a handful of bold predictions and final score guess.

This has the feelings of a "get right" game for both the Bills and Jets with plenty on the line. A victory for Buffalo not only gets things back on track but puts the rest of the AFC east in the rear view mirror early, earning road wins over both Miami and New York. However a third straight loss may force the panic button to get hit and realize this team isn't nearly as good as they appeared to be three weeks into the season.

The guys spend time talking about how they expect the Bills offense to look against a very tough Jets defense, not to mention injuries to key players Khalil Shakir and James Cook. Someone has to step up on the Bills offense and it's more than time for Dalton Kincaid and Curtis Samuel to carry the load.

As for the Jets, they guys discuss a top tier defense featuring arguably the best cornerback tandem in the league and a very (very) good front seven as well. However, there's ways for Buffalo to have success on offense and the guys go over them as well as an expectation that Buffalo's defense will be just as problematic for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense.

They also offer bold predictions, including a bonus prediction from Mrs. Moran and a final score guess. That and much more--a big game for the Bills!

Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino.

Mean Tweets, Buffalo Bills & Sabres Edition11 Oct 202400:50:08

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, The Buffalo Bills and Sabres had separate social media posts commemorating events that fans absolutely tore into inside the comments, and Patrick Moran reads many of them off, some hilariously funny and others downright mean.

Terry and Kim Pegula just past the 10 year mark as owners of the Bills, while Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams celebrated his 50th birthday. Both were acknowledged via posts by their respective social media departments. Predictably, annoyed/angry fans got at them, spewing comments that range from comical to borderline cringe.

Patrick decided today was a good day to something different and essentially dedicate an entire episode reading off several of the comments. Among them on the Pegula side is fans urging him/them to sell the team, accusing him of ruining Josh Allen's team, funding a stadium on the state's dime, being an absentee owner and a really good reference from the movie Caddyshack.

That's nothing compared to Adams, who had people saying they hoped his birthday sucked, wondering if he had a party with the millions of cap space the Sabres still have, wanting him Robert Saleh'd, accused of having his thumb up his butt and someone who simply used a middle finger emoticon instead of saying Happy Birthday. All that and more.

Sean McDermott Angst Is Growing Among Buffalo Bills Fans10 Oct 202400:49:54

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions, including several angry fans wondering at what point does Sean McDermott's miscues become fireable offenses and if Brandon Beane is ready to risk another season of Josh Allen's prime.

The NFL truly is a week-to-week league and the Bills are the poster child for that right now. Three weeks in Buffalo was undefeated and couldn't do no wrong. Two games later there's a mob of fans calling for McDermott's head among others. Patrick talks about what he thinks it would take for a McDermott firing to actually become a reality---a scenario that's extremely far fetched. Can McDermott ultimately get this team over the hump or is he destined to be the coach with a second-round playoff exit ceiling?

Patrick also talks about how he's worried that the organization is being too patient with what he considers a critical season in Allen's career and talks about how it's ridiculous to expect him to play at this level for several more years considering the way he plays the game.

Topics also covered include Curtis Samuel underachieving, Damar Hamlin being a liability, the team never being healthy enough, catharsis being therapeutic and much more.

Potential Buffalo Bills WR Trade Candidates09 Oct 202401:05:54

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by recurring guest Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a handful of potential Buffalo Bills trade candidates at wide receiver in addition to other topics involving the team and around the AFC.

The past two weeks and especially last Sunday in Houston really emphasized the Bills need to find themselves a productive wide receiver. Head coach Sean McDermott said he's still confident in the group but even he said there's concerns with the unit when he spoke to the media. Matt goes over a list of possible candidates around the league that could come in and give the Bills passing game a much needed boost, ranging from possible yet unlikely to downright extremely doable for Bills general manager Brandon Beane.

Also, the guys discuss the confidence level they have in McDermott and his coaching staff after the debacle ending in Houston. They also discuss Josh Allen winning AFC Offensive Player of the Month but still off to a relatively slow start, Beane's offseason free agent class that's been noticeably underwhelming through five weeks, why the Bills stink on third down so far this year, a look around the conference and tons more.

You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.

Buffalo Bills Biggest Week Five Takeaways08 Oct 202400:41:35

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran discusses his biggest takeaways after watching the All-22 film and going over the PFF grades from the Buffalo Bills gut wrenching three point road loss on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

To put it mildly, the Bills offense is a mess right now and has been for the past two weeks. Patrick talks about it not being any singular reason but rather a collaborative effort in its struggles, from bad game planning to predictable play calling, wide receivers who rarely get open and don't make plays when they do, an offensive line suddenly struggling to keep the pocket and at least in this game, a quarterback in Josh Allen who was quite frankly pretty awful. If these past two weeks have been a bump in a road or a pattern that could stay consistent for the rest of the season remains to be seen but Patrick's convinced a trade for a wide receiver considerably better than what was trotted out on Sunday is critical if Brandon Beane's serious about trying to win a championship this season.

Defensively the results were much better, all things (injuries) considered. Patrick talks about being impressed with rookie defensive tackles DeWayne Carter and an impactful return from middle linebacker Terrel Bernard. It wasn't all good though----the safety play was again subpar and that unfortunately includes second round rookie Cole Bishop in his first NFL start, one he'd like to forget.

A mistake on special teams that proved costly is also discussed as well as some big picture perspective after five weeks, a huge game coming up next Monday night and more.

(Heated) Reactions Following Bills Loss In Houston07 Oct 202401:09:29

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens for plenty of (often heated) reaction on the heels of the Buffalo Bills losing to the Houston Texans on a last second 59-yard field goal, an ending marred by bad coaching.

The Bills were on the road in a tough environment facing a very good Houston team. They fell behind early and appeared on the verge of being run out of the Stadium at halftime. Buffalo showed resiliency, especially on defense and battled back to tie the game in the final minutes. They fell apart in the end, largely because of some absurdly coaching decisions by Sean McDermott, first with time outs and then on play calls in the final minute. The guys have plenty to say about that and a coaching staff that looked the part the first three weeks but have definitely been exposed as flawed over the last two.

They also have plenty to say about Josh Allen, who had one of if not his worst games as pro, certainly the worst he's looked throwing the football in at least a few years. He was bad and wasn't helped but by a wide receiver group that gave him no help and often looked pathetic in doing so. It certainly feels if the Bills are serious about trying to win the AFC this year and get to the Super Bowl, they need to trade for a quality wide receiver because that player is not currently on this roster.

The guys discuss a defense that had some issues early but stepped up and gave the Bills a chance to win this game, a pretty valiant effort with Ed Oliver, Taron Johnson and Taylor Rapp.

They go over some bright spots, look ahead to what now kinda feels like a must-win game in New Jersey next week, hit on the Sabres crappy start to their season and much more.

A Few Buffalo Bills Offseason Moves That Could Surprise You20 Feb 202500:54:06

It’s another edition of The Podbag on this episode of Talking Buffalo, as Patrick Moran goes through several listener submitted questions and takes primarily on the Buffalo Bills, including going over three moves he can see Brandon Beane making over the next few weeks that could be a considered a surprise to many fans.

With Buffalo making it to the AFC championship game before falling short to Kansas City for the fourth tie since 2020, it's highly unlikely we'll see any kind of major personnel overhaul. That doesn't mean there isn't changes to be made that matter. After being asked for a few potential surprise moves Patrick comes up with three, with two of them being departing ways with a pair of current starters that kind of fly under the radar, one on each side of the football.

Also, while defensive edge rusher continues to be all the rage in sports talk discussions, Patrick thinks the defensive tackle position is as big or potentially even a bigger need and based on comes up with a free agent from a AFC rival that he thinks could make a significant impact on the Buffalo defenses.

Plus, are people like Patrick starting to rate Greg Roussea too low? That plus selling high on James Cook, where Amari Cooper lands, worry about the 2024 draft class and much more.

Major props to Talking Buffalo sponsor, Sonny Red’s at 1841 Abbott Road in Lackawanna, just minutes from Highmark Stadium. We consider them THE most underrated spot for wings, pizza and other great food in Western New York plus it’s a great place to drink and have a great time.

Bills vs Texans Preview & Bold Predictions04 Oct 202400:41:25

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of the Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans showdown, including keys to the game for Buffalo alongside a handful of bold predictions for Sunday.

After being handled thoroughly in Baltimore this past week, Sunday is a big bounce back opportunity in Houston against a very talented Texans team that's 3-1 so far this season. Of course, this game is attracting a lot of national attention and not just because both teams are good. Former Bills star Stefon Diggs is with Houston and playing well. Patrick talks about him and takes exception to a large national narrative right now that this is a "revenge game" for Diggs and Houston.

Patrick spends time talking Bills with some big picture perspective, brushing off the stink from the performance in Baltimore to point out several things going right for the team over the first month of the season as well as the latest injury news and who could be in or out for Buffalo on Sunday.

From there's it's about keys to the game and Patrick highlights being more committed to using James Cook in the running game than they did last week and conversely taking advantage of a suspect Houston interior offensive lineman with a pair of Bills defenders down the middle who've largely underachieved so far this season.

The episode is wrapped with a handful of bold predictions, including forecasting a long touchdown for a guy who's been a complete non-factor through four games and the opportunity for AJ Epenesa to leave a big footprint on that game. That plus a final score prediction and much more.

Buffalo Sabres Season Preview, Plus Bills/Texans Talk03 Oct 202401:05:43

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective for a special Buffalo Sabres season preview in addition to discussing the Buffalo Bills big game coming up on Sunday in Houston against the Texans.

The NHL regular season kicks off for the Sabres overseas tomorrow as they face the New Jersey Devils on consecutive days. The guys preview the team and season, starting with the new identity they're clearly trying to build between Lindy Ruff back again as head coach and the far more physical fourth line they put together this summer through a trade and a few free agent signings.

They also discuss some of the team's biggest questions, including if Ruff can reignite this offense to be really good again like it was two years ago, how long Jordan Greenway is likely to last in a top nine forward role, will Owen Power take the next step and if this is ultimately the year the team breaks their existing NHL record for longest playoff drought. One thing seems for sure---several things will have to break Buffalo's way for it to happen.

Meanwhile the Bills are trying to bounce back with a tough game in Houston this Sunday after getting pounded by Baltimore last week in their first loss of the season. It was already going to be a hard go for the Bills as it was and things aren't getting any easier following the news that Von Miller has been suspended for four games while both Dion Dawkins and Khalil Shakir were unable to practice on Wednesday because of injuries. The guys discuss that and a handful of guys that simply need to step up.

That plus you knew the Stefon Diggs chatter was going to be huge this week and plenty more.

You can follow PK on Twitter @PK_BSC and check out the Buffalo Sports Collective podcast.

What's Up With The Bills Defensive Tackles?02 Oct 202401:04:24

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren for SB Nations to discuss several Buffalo Bills and AFC topics, including a discussion of why the Bills interior defensive line is largely underachieving so far this season.

The Bills have won three of their first four games and for the most the defense has played well. However, the defensive tackle has surprisingly been inconsistent if not a sore spot. Ed Oliver has looked ordinary at times and invisible at others while DaQuan Jones hasn't come close to the effective start he had over the first month last season, when it could be argued he was the team's defensive MVP early on. Patrick and Matt discuss both guys and try to figure out why they're not getting the production that at times becomes sorely missed, none so more than Sunday night in Baltimore when both were complete non-factors. They also discuss veteran addition Austin Johnson and third-round rookie DeWayne Carter getting off to very slow starts as well.

Defensive tackle play wasn't the only area of this team that feels exposed on the hells of the Bills embarrassing loss in Baltimore Sunday night. The guys discuss why they think this team has both a safety and wide receiver problem, something that's been brewing since before the start of training camp.

That said, the guys are careful to not completely overreact to one game and offer perspective on Buffalo winning three of their first four games. Matt also has some thoughts from around the league, including the Miami Dolphins being absolute toast already in the AFC east, the New York Jets a team that feels completely capable of imploding, the Kansas City Chiefs continuing to find ways to win every week, respect due to the Ravens and plenty more.

You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.

Buffalo Bills Biggest First Four Weeks Takeaways01 Oct 202400:56:44

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran watched the game film and analyzed the PFF grades and has a series of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways following their Week four blowout loss at Baltimore on Sunday night.

It's just one game and the Bills are 3-1 a month into the season. If Bills fans and probably the team was offered winning three of their first four before the season started most would've jumped on that. The sky isn't falling and it's worth recognizing that. With that said this was an ugly loss and it's perfectly reasonable to raise questions with multiple areas of this team on the heels of it.

That starts with the safeties and Patrick talks about being convinced the Bills have a significant safety problem and wonders if the solution is currently on the roster. One thing he's convinced about it's that the solution wasn't on the field Sunday night. Taylor Rapp and particularly Damar Hamlin were hard to watch against the Ravens.

Patrick also wonders why Curtis Samuel hasn't fit into the Bills offense at all a full month into the season and starts to recall that this type of player seems to come and go every year. The difference however is that past candidates weren't costing $8 million. Also, where's Dawson Knox?

Most the takeaways from Baltimore, thankfully are considered just as bad night for the Bills and not recurring/chronic problems. Patrick talks about the coaching and both sides of the lines being awful against the Ravens but still having a fair amount of confidence in all those areas. That plus a look ahead and much more.

Ravens Dominate Bills: Instant Reactions30 Sep 202401:00:24

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens just minutes after the Buffalo Bills were thoroughly dominated on Sunday night road game by the Baltimore Ravens for instant reactions---the (very little) good, (very) bad and (very) ugly of Buffalo's Week four debacle.

Almost nothing went right for the Bills in this one on either side of the ball, especially on a defense that hasn't looked this completely outmanned and outgunned in a very long time. Baltimore scored touchdowns on their fist three drives to jump to a 21-3 lead and were never legitimately threatened at any point of the game. In fact the Ravens ran up 238 yards and 12 first downs on their first three possessions, including a team-record 87 yard touchdown run by Derrick Henry on Baltimore's first offensive snap of the game.

The guys have thoughts on the Bills decimated defense finally catching up to them, making sure to realize that it goes far beyond just the replacement starters. Patrick Moran has plenty of thoughts on Damar Hamlin, who was as mess out there and Patrick thinks it may be time for Sean McDermott to pick up the phone and call Micah Hyde.

Things weren't much better on offense either, as Josh Allen received almost no help. At the end of the day though, it's one game and one loss. Patrick and Joe try to stick to big picture stuff as opposed to this Sunday nightmare, though there's now some legitimate reason to worry.

Bills vs Ravens Preview & Bold Predictions27 Sep 202400:43:23

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran previews the Buffalo Bills vs Baltimore Ravens matchup coming up this Sunday night in Baltimore, with keys to the contest for Buffalo as well as a handful of bold predictions for the game and a final score.

Patrick's still dealing with Covid but it's not stopping him from deep diving into this game including talking about why Baltimore's just 1-2 after their first three games and why this one is so important for them to get back on track. He discusses their elite run but poor pass defense so far this year with of course an emphasis on the Ravens offense led by Derrick Henry and two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.

Meanwhile the Bills are undefeated and riding high. Patrick talks about why he thinks coaching has played such a big part of that before getting into Buffalo's biggest keys, which includes Josh Allen staying patient, finding a way to contain the run with light boxes and weathering the storm.

From there Patrick has a few bold predictions, including a Dawson Knox touchdown. strong game from DaQuan Jones and plenty of field goals before the team before concluding with a close one score game prediction.

Good, Bad & Ugly From Buffalo's Beatdown of Jacksonville (Plus Covid Sucks)25 Sep 202401:14:39

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, we're back after missing the past two days because of Patrick Moran catching Covid, and he's joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens to discuss the good, bad and ugly from the Buffalo Bills complete beatdown of Jacksonville in prime time on Monday night, 47-10.

It was almost surreal how completely dominating Buffalo was in all phases of the game against a team they've played some of their worst football against in recent years. The guys have plenty to say about Josh Allen adding elements to his game that appear to make him utterly unstoppable at times, aided by great game planning and play calling from his offensive coordinator and a a pair of offensive tackles that kept the talented Jags pass rush completely at bay all night long. The result was a difference between Allen and Trevor Lawrence that simply looked monumental.

The guys also talk about Christian Benford becoming an elite cornerback on defense, Von Miller having a sack in each of his first three games, Damar Hamlin having his first interception since nearly dying on the field a few years ago and an overall defense that continues to get the job done despite a series of significant injuries.

It wasn't quite all good though. Joe has thoughts on Keon Coleman being benched for the first quarters while Patrick expresses a little concern for the slot corner position going forward if Taron Johnson is back real soon.

That plus Patrick talks about how the whole Covid thing went down over the weekend, thoughts on the ESPN broadcast Monday night and tons more.

Bills vs Jags Preview & Bold Predictions20 Sep 202401:01:56

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino for an extensive preview of the Buffalo Bills upcoming Monday night showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars in addition to a handful of bold predictions for the game.

The teams are going in opposite directions early in the season, with Buffalo undefeated and Jacksonville winless two weeks in. However, the last thing Buffalo should be going into this contest is overconfident. The guys talk about how for whatever reason or combination of them the Bills always seem to play some of their worst football when facing Jacksonville, including least year in London where the Bills were shutout for nearly 29 minutes to start the game and lost two key players for the long haul in the first quarter alone.

They spend some time discussing this year's version of the Jags, which includes an outstanding pass rush on defense but has suffered from struggles galore on offense. In fact, Trevor Lawrence has lost his last seven starts at quarterback.

Patrick and Anthony highlight the keys to the game for Buffalo to pick up their straight win to start 2024, including getting off to a fast start and a strong game from an offensive line that's surely to be tested. From there, they offer a series of bold prediction for the game, take a stab at picking the final score and much more.

Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino.

Buffalo Sabres Training Camp Preview (Featuring Mike Harrington)19 Sep 202400:49:09

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by longtime Buffalo News reporter and columnist Mike Harrington for an extensive Buffalo Sabres training camp preview.

Training camp always seems to come quietly because the Buffalo Bills are a few games into their season, but camp for the Sabres this time around is the start of what will be a critical season as the hockey club tries to end it's NHL all-time record playoff drought at 13 years. Mike has plenty of thoughts on if general manager Kevyn Adams' job hangs in the balance of making the postseason, painting a potential picture where the Sabres could miss and he still kept his job.

As for camp, there doesn't appear to be a lot of roster spots that aren't already locked in but that doesn't mean it will lack for storylines. Mike has takes on if he thinks Jason Zucker or Zach Benson will get first crack to skate with Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn, is Jiri Kulich a legitimate candidate to crack the roster, how the bottom six is taking shape including newly re-signed Peyton Krebs, which makes Mike wonder if Krebs could become part of a trade.

They also spend time talking about the goaltenders, if last season was the real version of UPL and how the No. 2 spot may play out between Devon Levi and James Reimer. That plus what Mike anticipates being different at camp now that Lindy Ruff is running things instead of Don Granato, what Buffalo needs to do to make the arena feel alive for home games again, the chances he thinks Buffalo makes the playoffs and tons more.

Follow Mike Harrington on Twitter @ByMHarrington and of course support local journalism, which needs your support now more than ever by subscribing to The Buffalo News.

What Buffalo Bills Sample Sizes Are Most Sustainable?18 Sep 202400:55:39

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation's Matt Warren to discuss several Buffalo Bills and NFL topics, including what Buffalo sample size metrics so far this season feel the most sustainable.

The Bills have begun the season with wins over Arizona and divisional rival Miami and have looked good doing it. However, how much of their early sample size is sustainable? Patrick gives Matt several scenarios and asks him to score them on a sustainability level from 1-10, including Von Miller on pace for double digit sacks, Josh Allen having fewer than 10 interceptions, James Cook having over 1,250 yards rushing and no pass catcher finishing the season with 75 catches or 850 receiving yards. It's a fun exercise with a few surprising answers.

Matt also has thoughts on who he's most and least impressed with around the NFL through the first two weeks as well as what's most surprised by. That and much more.

Potential Buffalo Bills RB and WR Free Agent Targets19 Feb 202500:58:37

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren (SB Nation) to discuss some potential Buffalo Bills running back and wide receiver candidates should the Bills end up deciding to dip their toes there in the upcoming NFL free agency market.

While it feels like the Bills are pretty set at both those positions, that's at least potentially not accurate. Amari Cooper and Mack Hollins are both scheduled to become free agent wide receivers come March 10 and if the Bills lose one or especially both, they may need to turn to the open market to replenish. That goes the same for running back if they can't re-sign popular backup Ty Johnson. There's even a scenario where maybe Brandon Beane decides he's not going to deal with any potential James Cook drama and looks to trade the star, perhaps as part of a big trade package.

In any event the guys go over several possibilities at both position, ranging from intriguing younger prospects to veterans where you're almost certain you'll know what you're getting.

They also spend some time discussing an article from Mike Sando of The Athletic that suggested the Bills are going to have urgency to make a big splash this offseason if they're to overtake the Kansas City Chiefs or stay ahead of the Baltimore Ravens, referencing a situation the Oakland Raiders found themselves in back in the 1970's. That plus some thoughts on a few teams around the league and much more.

James Cook Trending Towards Next Buffalo Bills Superstar17 Sep 202400:41:03

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran's responding to several takes and questions, including James Cook looking like he's taking another step towards truly becoming a star player for the Buffalo Bills through their first two games.

The statistics don't blow you away even with his three touchdown performance in Miami, but Cook's running style and ability (so far) to be a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield if giving off some serious Le'Veon Bell vibes. Bell was once widely regarded as the best running back in football from 2014-17 with his distinct running style and all-around ability. Patrick talks about what's looked different this year than last from Cook, even with Cook having an impressive statistical 2023 campaign.

Patrick also responds to questions about takes regarding where the Bills look to be stacking up right now compared to the rest of the league based on a small sample size, what his confidence level is in Braylon Spector replacing Terrell Bernard for the time being, how he's feeling going into the Week three matchup against Jacksonville and being unafraid to admit when he's dead wrong about predictions.

There's also a few Sabres topics revolving around training camp opening this week, including being asked what he thinks the chances are Sabres first-round draft pick Konstas Helenius makes the team out of camp in addition the effect he expects Lindy Ruff to have on the team and much more.

Bills Coach Sean McDermott Is Shining Early16 Sep 202401:00:08

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by PK from the Buffalo Sports Collective to discuss several Buffalo Bills (and Sabres) topics, including the outstanding job Bills head coach Sean McDermott is again doing early in the season.

Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel gets a lot of hype but the guys talk about how once again it was McDermott coaching circles around him last week in a lopsided Buffalo road win to improve to 2-0 on the season. Patrick considers it his single-biggest takeaway from the game adn PK has plenty to say about the team buying into everything Sean's doing and saying.

Also, the Bills offense doesn't necessarily feel like it's been very effective but early season metrics suggest otherwise. The guys have a discussion about getting used to what's clearly a different Bills offense than we've seen in recent years.

Additionally, Sabres training camp starts later this week with veterans reporting. What is PK most eager to see unfold during camp and the preseason and what's his overall level of excitement?

That plus a look around the NFL from Week two Sunday, should Tua retire and much more.

Buffalo Bills Week Two Takeaways & Unsung Heroes (Bonus Pod)14 Sep 202400:39:34

On this bonus Saturday edition of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran shares some of his biggest Buffalo Bills takeaways from their thrashing of Miami on Thursday night, including some points he missed in the instant reactions postgame shows and a few observations after watching the film, including pointing out a few unsung heroes.

As Patrick explains, one of his favorite things to do and reasons why he watches the All-22 film isn't to educate you about alignments, gaps, route trees and other football terminology---he's not smart enough for that anyway. What he does however is learn who some of the unsung heroes are on the biggest plays of the game and/or the culprits when plays don't well--and relay that information to you. Patrick picks out three plays from this game and explains who played key roles, including James Cook's 49 yard touchdown, Ja'Marcus Ingram's pick six and Ty Johnson's 33 yard reception against the league's highest paid cornerback.

Patrick also has very high praise for the job Sean McDermott is doing with the Bills in addition to some love for Ingram, some care for Tua, why he wouldn't resist recording this episode at 1:40am to drop on a Saturday where the audience is much smaller and much more.

Instant Reactions From The Bills Smackdown of Miami13 Sep 202400:53:32

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens with instant reactions just minutes following the Buffalo Bills taking the Miami Dolphins to the woodshed in their own stadium, 31-10 Thursday night at Hard Rock Stadium.

Even with Terrell Bernard lost to a potential major injury earlier to add to the already walking wounded defense, Bobby Babich's defense absolutely dominated Miami and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who tossed three interceptions including a pick six to Ja'Marcus Ingram before leaving the game with a concussion after being hit by Damar Hamlin late in the third quarter.

The guys happily eat some crow, talk about the Buffalo dominant defense and how the offense didn't even really matter. Also, is Miami fraudulent and in particular their head coach, Mike McDaniel. That and plenty more as Buffalo goes on the road to smack a division rival and move to 2-0 on the season.

Bills vs Dolphins Preview & Bold Predictions12 Sep 202400:44:09

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has a full preview of tonight's Week two clash between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins in addition to a bunch of bold predictions for the game.

Both Buffalo and Miami survived opening week scares at home to win their first games as we head into what's already a potentially pivotal matchup just two weeks into the season. Patrick breaks down where both teams are at heading into the game, including some injuries to each squad that could have an impact on this game and beyond.

Of course for Buffalo, the Bills dominance of Miami in recent years has been led by the absurdly elite play of Josh Allen, who's won AFC Offensive Player of the Week a mind blowing five times in 12 career regular season games against the Dolphins. Should we be prepared for more of the same and will his injured finger(s) be a problem at Hard Rock Stadium?

Patrick spends plenty of time going over their keys to the game for Buffalo, biggest concerns within the Bills and ultimately a host of bold predictions as well as picks/scores for the game itself from each. That and plenty more.

Bills Readying For Miami (Featuring Matt Warren)11 Sep 202401:02:23

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by SB Nation Associate Director Matt Warren to discuss some final takeaways from the Buffalo Bills opening week victory before quickly turning the page to look ahead to Thursday night's important early season AFC east showdown at the Miami Dolphins.

Happy to say here that Matt will be a recurring guest on Talking Buffalo throughout this season and he debuts today with some of things he's most and least excited about with the Bills on the heels of their victory over Arizona to start the season 1-0. The play of Josh Allen and Greg Rousseau is obvious, but what else is Matt happy about? Conversely, there's players and areas of concern about this team in need of discussion and Matt lays out some of them as well.

Then the focus gets shifted to Miami, where the pair of 1-0 teams will clash in prime time on Thursday. The Bills have utterly owned the Dolphins during the Josh Allen era, going 10-2 with Josh winning AFC Offensive Player of the Week a mind blowing five times against Miami alone through his career. What are some things that need to happen for Allen and Buffalo's dominance to continue.? The guys take a look at the strengths and weakness of Miami and start to piece together a preview.

That plus Matt has some thoughts from ongoings around the league, some talk about Buffalo Rumblings and much more. You can follow Matt on Twitter @MattRichWarren and be sure to check out Buffalo Rumblings for your (really good) daily Bills content.

Buffalo Bills Film & PFF Grade Takeaways - Cam Lewis Shines10 Sep 202400:44:37

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran offers his biggest takeaways after analyzing the Pro Football Focus grades and watching the game film of the Buffalo Bills season opening 34-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.

It doesn't take a film expert or guru on any level to conclude the Bills are 1-0 this week because Josh Allen and Gregory Rousseau respectively both played like superstars. So much in fact that that Patrick barely spends any time during this episode discussing them. They were great---that's obvious.

Instead Patrick dives into some other takeaways from the game both good and bad for Buffalo, highlighted by an unexpected (very) good game from Bills reserve defensive back Cam Lewis, who was pressed into action early after All-Pro cornerback Taron Johnson was injured just four minutes into the first quarter. Lewis played surprisingly great against then run and was good enough in pass defense as well and his performance went a long way towards keeping the Bills defense from completely falling apart.

Conversely, Ed Oliver didn't just struggle but was downright invisible Sunday. Patrick talks about him in addition to the borderline shocking usage of the defensive line starters, success James Cook had running the football on first downs, Keon Coleman changing the mind quickly of critics, the safety position continuing to be worrisome and a breakdown of who was responsible on Buffalo's botched kickoff coverage play that allowed Arizona to stay in the game after the Bills went up two scores.

That plus a big event coming to Imperial Pizza this week, a (very) quick look at Miami and what's on tap here at Talking Buffalo for the rest of the week plus much more.

The Good, Bad & Ugly: Buffalo Bills Week One Reactions09 Sep 202401:18:08

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens to react to the good, bad and ugly of the Buffalo Bills season opening 34-28 victory over the Arizona Cardinals to kick off their 2024 campaign.

Without question it was far more stressful than most figured it would be but in the end Buffalo pulled out a one score victory, overcoming an early 17-3 deficit in the first half where the Bills looked completely out of sorts in every aspect. The guys talk about how "double dipping" actually proved to be a huge turning point of the game and a defense that didn't show up in the first half bottle down Arizona and Kylar Murray in the second half.

On the good side, Josh Allen is discussed as he showed why he's one of the best players in the league. Also, Greg Rousseau had one of if not his most impactful game as a pro on an afternoon where the defense desperately needed it in addition to a few UB kids stepping up in Cam Lewis and JaMarcus Ingram.

On the bad side, Ed Oliver and the defensive tackles were essentially missing in action all day. Patrick has an Oliver rant for the ages. There was also some ugly to this game too, including a few terrible officiating calls, stupid penalties and the Bills kickoff coverage. This and much more from today's opener.

Final Buffalo Bills Season Preview, Featuring Jay Skurski & Nate Geary (LIVE From Imperial)06 Sep 202401:12:52

On this special edition of Talking Buffalo, it's the final in a weeklong series of Buffalo Bills season previews as Patrick Moran is joined by both Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News and Nate Geary from WGR550 to discuss the Bills as well as the rest of the NFL in a conversation recorded live at Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo.

Safety, wide receiver, offensive line depth and kicker have been perceived as the Bills biggest question marks going into the season and each are discussed here. Do Jay and Nate truly believe in the mantra "everybody eats" and it being a successful formula or do they think there's truly a problem looming with the passing game? Damar Hamlin is a good story but will he be a good starting safety on this team this season? You can't expect the offensive line to go injury free like it did in 2023, do they trust any of the backups? Will one big missed kick early send Tyler Bass into a tailspin?

Obviously it's far from doom and gloom with the Bills in spite of some shortcomings. The guys talk about areas and players of this team they're highest on, including the Bills newest captain at middle linebacker Terrel Bernard. It may take Josh Allen to have a MVP season for the Bills to legitimately compete for a championship but fortunately for him he's completely got that in him.

The guys then offer a series of Bills predictions and takes in addition to some thoughts about the AFC east, other teams and players around the league and much more. It's the final Bills scheduled Bills preview show before the real thing!

Big shout-out and thank you once again to Imperial Pizza for being a gracious host and for their excellent wings. They now have two locations, 1035 Abbott Road and 1665 Main Street

Bills Preview With Howard Simon & Matt Parrino (LIVE From Sonny Red's)05 Sep 202401:04:27

On this special episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by both legendary longtime sports talk radio host Howard Simon and Buffalo Bills beat reporter Matt Parrino to preview the 2024 Bills season in a conversation recorded live at Sonny Red's in Lackawanna.

We're just a few days away from the start of yet another promising Bills campaign and preview week on Talking Buffalo continues with two of the best to do it. Howard's been a fixture in the Buffalo sports broadcasting scene for so many years and still remains in the mix from time to time since retiring from his post at WGR 550. Matt has become one of Bills fans most trusted sources both as a reporter at NYup.com in addition to co-hosting the popular "Shout! A Buffalo Football Podcast" alongside partner Ryan Talbot.

Together along with Patrick they go over several of the biggest storylines and X-factors for the Bills as they go into the season. While Buffalo's far from being considered a longshot to win a Super Bowl, they're not the prohibitive betting favorite and national media darling that they've been over the past two or three years. The guys offer tons of insight and predictions in addition to much more.

Big thank you once again to this episode’s sponsor, Sonny Red’s for outstanding food and a great vibe to record the show in!

Confidence Level of the 2024 Bills Roster Positionally04 Sep 202401:11:57

On today's Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined in studio by longtime friend and recurring guest Tone Pucks to go over the state of the Buffalo Bills roster positionally just days before the regular season kicks off Sunday against Arizona.

It's been done periodically on this show before but with training camp and the preseason over with the roster pretty much set for the season, it's a good time to go position-by-position with the Bills and discuss what's likely to be good or bad with them. How much of the widely assumed Bills roster being less than last year is national perception from those not intimately familiar with it and how much feels accurate from those who are in the weeds with this team?

They also include several of the offseason losses in these discussions and how much effect they expect it to have on this year's roster. Patrick comes up with two veteran departures that he thinks may ultimately hurt most, and probably not the names you expected to hear.

Also the Bills released their "official" depth chart on Tuesday and there's a few interesting things worth talking about. That plus season expectations, a little MLB talk and much more.

The Buffalo Bills Individual & Team Predictions Episode03 Sep 202401:19:35

On today's Talking Buffalo, it's the start of a weeklong worth of Buffalo Bills season preview episodes and Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens to go over a bunch of individual and team Bills 2024 predictions.

After months of OTAs, mini camp, training camp and the preseason we've finally reached the start of the 2024 NFL season. The Bills are still ranked pretty high in terms of Super Bowl, conference champions, divisional champs betting odds but not the prohibitive favorite they've been for the previous three seasons. The guys discuss what they most and least like about this team before jumping into 20 specific individual and team predictions that Joe came up with to discuss.

Among them, besides the obvious is which player will be the biggest offensive surprise in a good way, who'll lead the team in interceptions, if the scoring defense will be better than it was last year, biggest disappointment on the defense and boldest predictions for both sides of the ball.

That plus plenty of Bills/NFL talk including how things are looking on the injury front, a few regular segments and more.

Buffalo Bills Under The Radar X-Factors30 Aug 202400:38:17

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is discussing what he considers a handful of under the radar X-factors when it comes to the Buffalo Bills as the regular season draws very close.

Josh Allen will always be the singular biggest factor on if the Bills have a good season as long as he's in a Buffalo uniform and other things are obvious as well, but there's some players and scenarios that don't get discussed as much but could end up proving critical to the team's fortunes. Patrick lists and elaborates on some including the new anchor of the Buffalo offensive line playing the way they expect, the probability that unproven depth will have to step up on that line, a smallish kick and punt returner the Bills recently traded for, a young linebacker tasked with trying to adequately replace Matt Milano for the majority if not all the regular season and a pair of wide receivers who may be counted on more than you think, especially if Keon Coleman is a little slow coming out of the gate.

Patrick also has thoughts on a pair of interesting prospects the team just added to the prospects---a former first-round safety in Lewis Cine and a speedster wide receiver formerly of the Denver Broncos in Jalen Virgil. That plus Patrick really likes the Bills practice squad and plenty more.

What We Didn't Learn About The Buffalo Bills This Summer29 Aug 202400:59:42

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by friend and recurring guest Anthony Marino to discuss a few of things we hoped to learn more about with the Buffalo Bills this summer but didn't among other roster topics as the regular season draws near.

Wide receiver and safety were two positions fans of the team were hoping to get more clarity from, but both spots feel as muddled and uncertain today as it was before training camp started in July. The guys talk about why and for varying reasons---- the safety position getting hit hard by camp and preseason injuries while no one really stood out good or bad among the receivers.

Also, Josh Allen was voted as the NFL most overrated pole in an ESPN poll of 103 current players. The guys respond to this absurdity and point out that bulletin board material can be a good thing for Buffalo, as we found out late last season.

Anthony also thoughts about the Bills 53-man roster decisions, what he likes most and least about this team, his biggest X-factor going into the season, a record prediction and much more.

Be sure to follow Anthony on Twitter @AnthMarino.

Best Bills Summer Development, Plus Initial Roster Reaction28 Aug 202400:48:48

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Today's highlighted by several Buffalo Bills topics, including Patrick being asked to name the development he's been most pleasantly surprised by with the Bills this summer.

It's been a largely uneventful summer for the Bills at training camp and preseason with the exception of the Matt Milano injuries. We never got exciting safety and wide receiver position battles like we anticipated but that doesn't mean there weren't some positive developments. Patrick's asked to discuss what he considers the most prominent development from the start camp or through now and comes up with cornerback showing to have talented depth, led by Kaiir Elam and JaMarcus Ingram.

The Bills initial 53-man roster was revealed on Tuesday and Patrick has a handful of thoughts, highlighted of course by the Cinderella story coming true as "Buffalo" Joe Andreesson defied the odds and made the team. While it'll be talked about and celebrated to death if not already, it doesn't take away from it being an incredible underdog story for the Buffalo born and raised kid.

Also, there's a handful of questions and comments targeting Bills GM Brandon Beane and the Kansas City Chiefs, more specifically a KC fan thanking Beane for "gift wrapping" them so many great players and another fan who considers Beane's track record with Buffalo as mediocre, which puts Patrick into Beane defender mode.

That plus thoughts on recurring guest Joe From Queens, a little follow up from Patrick's big family reunion and much more.

What Buffalo Bills Are In Line For Huge Paydays?27 Aug 202401:15:42

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by frenemy and recurring guest Joe From Queens to discuss several Buffalo Bills topics, including what players could be in line to potentially receive big paydays.

Training camp and the preseason are over for the Bills and we'll be getting a good idea of what their final roster looks like over the next 24 hours. There's also a chance that a player or two may end getting an extension before the regular season starts. The guys discuss a few of those candidates as well as a few others who haven't shown enough to warrant a huge pay day quite yet but could quickly find themselves near the front of the line if they play well this year.

They also debut a couple of new segments for when Joe is on, including the "Mt. Flushmore" where Joe lists the four worst or something---this time Buffalo Bills head coaches in addition to a "start, sit and cut" exercise, this week featuring supporting characters from The Sopranos.

Patrick also has a few stories from his family reunion in New Jersey last weekend that was long overdue plus a little Yankees talk, traffic is insane in NYC/NJ and more.

Top 10 Buffalo Sabres Right Now (Plus Bills & Yankees Talk)26 Aug 202400:52:42

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Chad DeDominicis of Expected Buffalo to discuss his top 10 Buffalo Sabres right now in addition to Buffalo Bills and New York Yankee talk.

Of course the focus everywhere is primarily on the Buffalo Bills as the regular season is now less than two weeks away, but the Sabres getting ready to ramp up as well soon and Chad covers the Sabres as good as anyone. Patrick tasks him to come up with his top 10 players on the team as things stand and while there's no surprise with the first two, a few surprises start with this third selection. He elaborates on why and also talks about his favorite and least favorite Sabres moves this summer.

They also talk some Bills and Chad has a pretty bold take for the season, saying the team is equally likely to either miss the playoffs all together or win the Super Bowl.

They also talk about the tear Aaron Judge is on yet again in baseball and how it would be a travesty if he doesn't get to play in a World Series soon. That plus Chad answers some questions sent in from fans and plenty more. You can follow Chad on Twitter @CMDeDominicis and be sure to check out Expected Buffalo.

What Bills Have Helped & Hurt Themselves Most This Past Month?23 Aug 202400:45:41

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran takes a look at what current Buffalo Bills players have helped and hurt themselves the most over the past month at training camp and the preseason as we're not just days away from the start of the 2024 NFL regular season.

The Bills still have a preseason finale this Saturday at home versus Carolina to get through but by in large the 53-man roster is mostly set. Patrick spends a few minutes talking about who he thinks is making the team before turning his attention to what players have elevated and devalued their stock the most since training camp began late in July.

On the positive side of course is linebacker Joe Andreesson, who may be on the cusp of going from a rookie minicamp tryout invitee to making the final cut. It's also been a good summer in Patrick's estimation for some of the late round draft picks, including Javon Solomon and Tylan Grable.

Conversely, Mitch Trubisky has been hard to watch and that's before he injured his knee during the Pittsburgh game last week. Also, La'el Collins is a veteran the team was looking for with offensive line depth but hasn't delivered and Marquez Scaldes-Vantling has been quite the enigma. What does his future hold?

That plus Patrick talks about a road trip he's taking this weekend means a lot to him and much more.

Andy Young, Spectrum News (Live From Imperial Pizza)22 Aug 202401:17:59

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Spectrum News Buffalo reporter and anchor Andy Young for a conversation about his life and career in addition to plenty of Buffalo Bills talk. recorded live from Imperial Pizza in South Buffalo.

Andy talks about growing up in nearby Jamestown and what initially got him interested in wanting to do media for a living. He also talks about why he went to college at Bowling Green, joining Spectrum back in 2011, doing both sports and news reporting and stepping up following the recent departures of Jon Scott and Rachel Hopmayer.

Of course they talk about the Bills and Andy highlights some of the things he's seen that he's liked most--and least about the team as they near the start of the regular season. He also has thoughts on what he'd like to see from Buffalo with their final preseason game coming Saturday at home against Carolina and how some of the final roster battles may play out.

They also talk about late summer weather, a "Fun Fact Finale" with Andy and tons more. Make sure to follow Andy on Twitter X @AndyYoungTV, check out the Buffalo End Zone podcast and the great work he's doing over at Spectrum News.

Big shout-out and thank you once again to Imperial Pizza for being a gracious host and for their excellent wings. They now have two locations, 1035 Abbott Road and 1665 Main Street

Taking The Optimistic Buffalo Bills Approach To 202421 Aug 202400:48:52

It’s another edition of The Podbag today on Talking Buffalo, the weekly episode where the audience controls the narrative and topics. Patrick Moran is responding to several takes and questions, including a fan annoyed with the all the negative talk about the Buffalo Bills who asks for---and receives a completely optimistic outlook for the team in 2024.

The Bills have been in the playoffs every year since 2019 and have won the AFC east the past four seasons, yet there's a national perception that this team is in big trouble in 2024, a school of thought that seems to be growing on a local and fan base level as well. There's several key departures from last year's team and significant-to-nagging injuries this summer piling up that has many worried. Patrick is among them but for the purpose of this exercise tells everyone why it's incredibly realistic for Buffalo to still keep their divisional reign intact and remain a legitimate Super Bowl contender.

That said, there's reasons to pump the brakes on Buffalo's 2024 expectation and several submissions refer to that, including takes on a less than desirable early impression during the preseason from rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman and an overall failure to adequately replace what departed from last year.

There's also thoughts on "Buffalo Joe" making the Bills and what may happen if he doesn't, Dawson Knox bouncing back, criticism at a Talking Buffalo regular guest and plenty more.
