Journalists vs Content Creators | Major Differences (And Who to Trust)
07 Sep 2026
00:28:15
Travel writer Brianne Miers joins this discussion on the key difference between journalism and content creation today. When you look for a holiday package, where do you turn first? A traditional publication with strict editorial guidelines, or a content creator who can go live in 30 seconds? One is bound by ethics, whilst the other is driven by algorithms.
Miers breaks down the line between journalism and content creation. The key differences and who you can actually trust.

From Olympian to Politician to YouTube Adventurer: Meet The Cruising Kiwis – Sailing, Travel, & More
22 Jul 2024
00:31:26
Led by parents Rob (an ex-Olympic rower) and Rachel (a twice gold medal winner at the World Triathlon Championships) Hamill, The Cruising Kiwis, along with their three boys, Finn, Declan, and Ivan, have an unusual and poignant story, which really sets them apart from other families who have broken free of the rat race to sail around the world.
Back in the mid-1970s, Rob's eldest brother, Kerry, set off in his 28-foot sailing boat to sail from Australia up to SE Asia. In 1978, while cruising off the coast of Cambodia, he and his crewmate were captured by the Khmer Rouge Navy, imprisoned, interrogated, and tortured, which ended with them being executed, after signing false confessions that they were CIA operatives.
This tragic backstory led the family to decide to retrace Kerry's journey and document it on their YouTube channel.

In this episode, I talked to three key members at the time of recording from the travel magazine Voyagers Voice, Marco Geri, Antonis Tsapepas, and Gary Davis. Our discussion was based on why the magazine was formed.
The discussion went into detail about the goal and intention when the magazine started during the pandemic and how they stand alongside other travel magazines. What makes them different from other travel magazines? Well worth a watch to find out.

In this episode, I talked to ocean photographer Chris Warren. During the discussion, Chris and I discussed how he decided to pursue his passion and love for photography.
Before becoming a full-time photographer and specialising in the ocean, Chris talked to me about working in the financial industry for over 20 years. We discussed in detail why he made the jump and left a sector that offered him security. We talked, in fact, about the transition in detail.
I also spoke to Chris about getting recognition, whether that has come from social media, and what it takes to get noticed. What jobs he has installed, and why he feels the travel industry would serve him a greater purpose. And whether collaborating with individuals is the way forward.
A discussion worth listening to if you aspire to become an ocean photographer.
