Tails Of Hope - Deepti Jandial - Episode 6 Part 123 May 202500:30:22

Episode 6 Part 1 – Tails of Hope: Deepti Jandial’s War for Compassion in Concrete Cities
What if kindness became a crime in your society? What if feeding a starving soul brought you threats, theft, and heartbreak?
Meet Deepti Jandial, an individual feeder and rescuer from Mumbai, whose daily act of compassion—feeding street animals—is met with aggression, threats, and apathy. Food bowls she places are kicked, stolen, or flung. She’s beenthreatened by educated elites who say, “We’ll throw you out of the building.” The cops? Silent spectators, playing Taichi with accountability.

Deepti shares her unfiltered story, not forsympathy—but so you understand what it truly means to stand up for the voiceless. These aren’t just dogs—they’re souls like Chocolate, who faced brutal intimidation. Or Bourno, a mother who watched her newborncrushed by a man who chose his ₹50 lakh car over alife. “Kutte ka pilla ya meri car?” he said, coldly.

Deepti feeds, rescues, and heals animals—fundedentirely from her own pocket. With no institutional support, her love stretches across fur and hope:

Deepti fights not just cruelty, but ignorance—likethe myth that “stray dogs bite.” She teaches: They bite when you're threatening. Not because they're dangerous—but because they’re scared.
🧡 Don’t just scroll.
🎧 Listen to this fearless voice who chooses love in a world that forgets the voiceless.
📢 Share her story. Support every silent warrior who feeds without fanfare.

They don’t want medals. They just want the bowl notto be stolen, and a life not to be crushed.

Tails Of Hope - Roxanne Davur - Episode 5 Finale16 May 202500:46:54

Tails of Hope – Episode 5 Finale 🎧
Guest: Roxanne Davur – Founder, Probably Paradise Shelter, Karjat
Topic: Caring for Over 460 Voiceless Souls – The Realities of Rescue in India

Roxanne Davur doesn’t wear a cape—but if you ask the 460+ animals under her care, they’ll tell you she’s their angel.

As the founder of Probably Paradise Animal Shelter in Karjat, Roxanne has devoted her entire life to the service of the voiceless—be it street dogs, abandoned cats, injured cows, donkeys, horses, or other farm animals society often neglects. Her shelter is a rare sanctuary in India that doesn’t discriminate between species, age, or medical condition. From critical care to emotional healing, she and her team manage it all—with limited resources, no PR machinery, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

In this heartfelt conversation, Roxanne opens up about the systemic gaps in India’s veterinary education, how training for large animal care is almost nonexistent, and the urgent need for policy and infrastructure reform in the animal welfare space. She speaks passionately about her effort to train young staff, raise hygiene standards in clinics, and change mindsets that treat both animals and vulnerable humans—especially women and children—as disposable.

She also talks about how Probably Paradise is not just a shelter—it’s a school, a hospice, a training ground, and a haven for animals who would otherwise never know safety. Whether it's comforting a terminally ill dog, assisting with field rescues, or trying to give dignity to an abandoned horse, every moment is a battle—and a blessing.

The journey hasn’t been easy. The shelter is largely self-funded, running on Roxanne’s personal savings and the kindness of a few loyal donors. She was once in the process of acquiring an additional 100 acres of land to expand the shelter, in collaboration with the late Sir Ratan Tata. But after his unfortunate passing, those plans are now paused. Yet, Roxanne remains undeterred. Her resolve to create a better world for animals has only deepened.

🔥 This episode is not just a story—it’s a call to conscience.

If you’ve ever believed that animals deserve dignity, that compassion should extend to all living beings, and that heroes walk among us in the quietest corners—then this episode is for you.

🙏 We urge you:
➡️ Listen to Roxanne’s story.
➡️ Share it with your tribe.
➡️ And if you can, support Probably Paradise Shelter.

Every donation, every wishlist contribution, every voice raised makes a difference. Help keep the hope alive—for every paw, every hoof, every feathered or furry soul who still waits for a chance to feel safe, loved, and seen.

Tails Of Hope India - Asha Ambekar Episode 1 Part 114 Mar 202500:32:25

Tails of Hope Podcast – Episode 1, Part 1

🎙️ Guest: Asha Ambekar – Founder of Shashwat Foundation
🐾 Topic: Rescuing, Rehabilitating & Giving Hope to Strays in India

In our very first episode of Tails of Hope – Voices for the Voiceless, Hope for Every Paw, we are honoured to have Asha Ambekar, the incredible Founder of Shashwat Foundation — a sanctuary of hope for countless stray animals who otherwise would have no one to care for them.

Asha's story is not just about animal rescue — it’s about compassion, resilience, and creating hope for the voiceless. What started as a personal mission after witnessing the heartbreaking plight of stray animals, soon turned into a full-fledged animal welfare movement through Shashwat Foundation.

But the journey wasn’t easy.

When asked what inspired her journey into animal welfare, Asha shared a deeply moving story of a wounded dog left abandoned on the roadside. That moment shook her. While most people walked past the dog, Asha stopped, carried it to a vet, and stayed by its side. That day, she knew — she had to become the voice for the voiceless.

What followed was a lifelong mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome stray animals who had no one else to turn to. Over the years, Shashwat Foundation has:
Rescued and treated hundreds of injured and abandoned animals.
Facilitated adoptions, ensuring strays find loving forever homes.
Promoted compassion and community involvement through awareness programs.

But the work is far from over. Every day, there’s a new dog, cat, or bird needing urgent care.

Asha also opened up about the harsh realities of animal welfare in India:

  • Severe neglect of strays, leading to avoidable deaths.
  • Limited medical infrastructure for injured or sick animals.
  • Outdated laws like the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, which offers minimal protection.
  • Public apathy toward animal suffering.

Her message is clear: "If we don’t act now, the voiceless will continue to suffer in silence."

But not all stories end this happily. Thousands of animals still live in neglect, starvation, and abuse — and this is where Shashwat Foundation steps in every single day.

Asha humbly admitted that the biggest challenge her foundation faces is limited resources. With over 30+ strays under their care at any given time, the foundation constantly struggles to meet:
Medical expenses for critical cases.
Food and shelter for abandoned animals.
Sterilization and vaccination for population control.
Emergency rescues from abuse or injury.

👉 And this is where YOU can make a difference.

If Asha’s story has touched your heart, we urge you to:
🐾 Donate – Every rupee can save a life.
🐾 Adopt/Foster – Give an animal a loving home.
🐾 Volunteer – Help in rescues, rehabilitation, or social media awareness.
🐾 Share – Spread awareness so more people can step up.

As we wrapped up Part 1 of this heartfelt episode, Asha said something that stayed with us:

"We may not change the world for every animal, but we can change the world for one animal at a time. And that’s how hope is created — one paw at a time."

Her message is a powerful reminder that kindness is a choice — and every time you choose compassion, you help change a life.

👉 If you would like to support Asha Ambekar’s work, please consider donating to Shashwat Foundation or getting involved.

Tails Of Hope - Roxanne Davur - Episode 5 Part 108 May 202500:40:47

Tails of Hope – Episode 5 Part 1: AVoice for the Forgotten Giants 🐄🐕❤️

In this deeply moving episode, we sit down with RoxanneDavur, Master Trainer in Animal Welfare (Govt. of India) and the heart and soul behind Probably Paradise Shelter in Karjat. A woman of fierce compassion and unyielding determination, Roxanne shares the raw, unfiltered truth of what it takes to rescue and rehabilitate the forgotten animals—both small and large—who’ve been discarded, neglected, and left to suffer in silence.

For over two decades, Roxanne has dedicated her lifeto nurturing and protecting those without a voice—dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes, horses, donkeys, and more. Her shelter is home to over 460 animals, and every single one of them carries a story of pain, resilience, and hope. Whetherit's a paralyzed dog, a blind donkey, or a malnourished horse left to die, Roxanne and her team step in when no one else will.

In this heartfelt conversation, she speaks about:

🌿The lack of medical infrastructure for large animals and the urgent need to reform veterinary education, including how 60+ vets were trained just to handle horses.

🌿The overhaul needed in traditional animal care systems, with many rural beliefs resisting basic medical intervention for farm animals.

🌿The reality of shelters working on borrowed funds, training their own staff to assist in vet work due to the scarcity of reliable support.

🌿The mental and emotional toll of being a woman fighting for voiceless souls in a world where both animals and women are often considered commodities.

And yet, amidst the struggle, she shares tales of triumphand transformation—of severely injured animals who walk again, of neglected lives rediscovering love, and of community members gradually opening theirhearts to compassion.

But the road is long and funds are short.

The shelter runs primarily on Roxanne’s personalsavings and the unwavering support of a few loyal donors. She had been in the process of expanding this sacred haven by acquiring an additional 100 acres, in collaboration with the late Mr. Ratan Tata—a visionary who deeply believed in her cause. Sadly, with his passing, those plans are currently on hold. But the dream still lives on, and Roxanne can’tcarry it forward alone.

If you believe animals deserve dignity, safety, andcare…
If you believe that hope must be kept alive for every paw and hoof...
Then now is the time to act.

💌Listen to this no-frills, no-filter episode. Feel every word. Share it.
💝 If Roxanne’sstory moves you, please support her mission through donations or the shelter’sAmazon Wishlist.

Because in a world that too often turns away—
She chooses to stay.
She chooses to fight.
And she chooses love. Always.

Guest: Sarang Rajwade | Founder |President,SAWO (Stray Animal Welfare Organization)

Sarang shares not just the story of founding SAWO, but also the ground realities of animal rescue and recovery inIndia. With unshakeable commitment and limited resources, he and his team have responded to countless emergency calls — from accident victims to abandoned pets — navigating each case with urgency, empathy, and a warrior’s spirit. His hands-on involvement in rescue missions and unwavering belief in second chances sets him apart.

In this heartfelt conversation, Sarang walks us through the behind-the-scenes struggles of rescuing injured strays, the challenges of treating life-threatening conditions like Canine Distemper and Rabies, and the sheer emotional weight of critical cases. His belief in quality medical care for street animals — including chemotherapy when needed —is deeply inspiring. He emphasizes the need for ABC (Animal Birth Control) surgeries as a long-term solution, fighting misconceptions and red tape with facts and compassion.

Tails Of Hope - Varnika Sing Episode 3 Finale18 Apr 202500:32:10

🐾 Tails of Hope — Episode 3 Finale

Guest: Varnika Singh | Head Legal Consultant, FIAPO

In this heartfelt finale, we are honored to feature Varnika Singh, a fierce voice for India’s voiceless animals and Head of Legal Consultation at FIAPO (Federation of Indian Animal Protection Organisations).

With over 14 years of legal expertise and a Master of Laws from NLU Bhopal and Lewis & Clark's prestigious Center for Animal Law Studies, Varnika has dedicated her career to making animal cruelty not just visible, but actionable under the law.

In this episode, Varnika offers sharp insights into why The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA) — one of India’s oldest animal protection laws — has sadly failed to meet the needs of animals in a rapidly modernizing world. While the Act was drafted in a different era, its lack of stringent penalties and weak enforcement leave countless animals vulnerable to suffering.

But the issue runs deeper than legislation.

Varnika highlights the real hurdle: public apathy and a severe lack of awareness. She believes that until every individual recognizes animals as sentient beings deserving compassion and legal protection, laws alone will never suffice.

Through her work, Varnika has shown how communities, corporates, and individuals alike can become champions for animal rights:
💡 Communities must be the first responders to cruelty, not silent bystanders.
💡 Corporations can lead with ethical policies and cruelty-free practices.
💡 Individuals can adopt, advocate, and amplify — every voice matters.

She also reflects on cultural traditions — some that uplift, and others that exploit animals — and shares her vision of a future where India leads the world in ethical animal treatment.

For those who believe change is overdue, Varnika reminds us:
"Animal welfare is not an option. It’s our moral duty. Awareness is the first step, and action is the next."

If you or someone you know faces or witnesses animal cruelty — you don’t have to stay silent. FIAPO and Varnika are here to assist.

Topic: Fighting for Animal Welfare, Sustainability & Social Justice

On this episode of Tails of Hope – Voices for the Voiceless, Hope for Every Paw, we are honored to have Varda Mehrotra, a visionary leader and advocate for animal rights, sustainability, and policy reform in India.

As the Co-founder of Samayu, Varda has spent years working at the intersection of animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Her work has helped transform policies, empower grassroots activists, and create lasting impact for the voiceless animals in India.

But what sparked her journey?

When asked what inspired her to dedicate her life to animal welfare, Varda shared how witnessing animal cruelty as a child deeply affected her. Through Samayu, Varda has worked to:
✅ Reform laws for better animal protection and welfare.
✅ Educate and empower communities to take action.
✅ Promote plant-based solutions for a more sustainable world.

However, the challenges remain immense.

Factory Farming & Cruelty – Millions of animals suffer in factory farms with little to no welfare measures.

Varda strongly believes that policy changes, public awareness, and grassroots activism are the key to solving these issues.

✅ Rescued & treated hundreds of injured and abandoned animals.
✅ Facilitated adoptions, giving strays loving homes.

  • Dogs taken for "sterilization," only to be killed for meat.

  • The dilemma of taking away a dog’s right to motherhood through sterilization—and the haunting guilt when a newborn litter doesn’t survive.

  • The unbearable stench of maggots, the cries of parvo-infected pups, the hopelessness of distemper—and the mental, physical, and financial burnout that rescue warriors endure silently.

❤️ This is more than an episode—it’s an outcry.
Deepti doesn’t want sympathy. She wants awareness. She wants listeners to realize that feeding dogs doesn’t guarantee salvation—but it does offer them dignity.
When the community abandons her, she builds her own.
She gives each soul—like Chocolate, Kiwi, Jamun, Bourno—not just food, but names, identity, and a fighting chance.

And when death comes, she gives them a burial, not a bin.
That alone should stir the soul.

🔥 🎧 Listen to Episode 6 Finale – a gut-wrenching, eye-opening finale of Tails of Hope.
Let Deepti’s truth move you, challenge you, shake you.

And if it touches your heart—share it, support it, and stand with the feeders and rescuers who keep hope alive in this brutal world.

They don’t wear capes.
They wear bruises, bills, and bravery.

“Managing Compassion: A Humane Solution for Community Animals”

🌟 What if compassion didn’t need chaos?
What if saving animals wasn’t about rescuing one at a time—but about preventing suffering before it begins?

In this powerful episode of Tails of Hope, we travel to Malaysia to sit with Stuart Tan, Co-Founder of the Trap Neuter Release Manage (TNRM) Foundation—a man whose work proves that humane solutions, when applied with discipline and patience, can change the fate of entire communities of animals.

This episode isn’t about emotional rescue storiesalone.
It’s about strategy, sustainability, and responsibility—and why real compassion must think long-term.

💡 Through the SRT conversation, Stuart explains how unchecked breeding, fear-driven policies, and public misunderstanding have created cycles of suffering forstreet dogs and cats across urban and semi-urban Malaysia.

Instead of reacting to crises, TNRM focuses on prevention.

In this episode, Stuart breaks down:

Stuart speaks calmly, clearly, and without drama—because when lives are at stake, clarity matters.

He reminds us that TNR isn’t a Western concept or anidealistic dream—it is proven, practical, and humane, when done correctly.

Sometimes, it looks like doing the same difficult work again and again—without applause.

“When Compassion Becomes a Way of Life”

🌟 What happens when compassion stops being an emotion—and becomes a responsibility?

In the Season 2 Finale of Tails of Hope, we close with a voice that does not seek attention, applause, or recognition. Wesit with Ashish Malhotra, widely known as Monk On Mission—a man who chose to step away from comfort and step fully into service.

As the founder of Saviours of Strays, Ashish has dedicated his life to protecting street animals who live unseen, unheard, and unprotected. This finale is not dramatic or loud. It is something far more powerful: honest, grounded, and deeply human.

This is not the story of a hero.
It is the story of someone who simply refused to look away.

💡 In this final conversation, Ashish reflects openly on the journey behind the mission—the emotional cost, the daily struggles, and the quiet discipline it takes to keep showing up when the suffering never ends.

From the SRT moments, he speaks about:

Through Saviours of Strays, Ashish and his team rescue, treat, rehabilitate, and protect animals who would otherwise beleft to die unnoticed. But this episode is not about numbers or achievements. It is about presence.

He shares why calling them “strays” misses the truth—they are lives without guardians, not lives without value.

🔥 Listening to Ashish in this finale feels like being gently confronted with an uncomfortable truth:
Most people care. Few commit.

He does not guilt the listener. He does not ask for praise. Instead, he invites reflection.
What does responsibility look like in a world where suffering is normalised?
What does service look like when no one is watching?

This episode will resonate deeply if you have ever:

Ashish’s life answers that question quietly butfirmly: yes.
Not through grand gestures—but through daily, disciplined compassion.

This finale reminds us that purpose is not found—itis practiced.

🎧 Tails of Hope | Season 2 Episode 5 Finale — Featuring Bob Echols

A Reverence for Life: When Faith Becomes Stewardship

🌍What if love was never meant to stop at the boundary of our own species?
In the Season 2 Episode 5 Finale of Tails of Hope, we sit down with Bob Echols— award-winning author, veteran, cancer survivor, and steward of God’s creation— whose life is a living sermon on compassion, courage, and the sacred duty of care.

His message echoes through scripture, suffering, andsurvival: “We are not masters of the earth, but caretakers of God’s kingdom.”

This finale is not merely an episode.
It’s a spiritual invocation — a gentle roar of hope for every being who shares this breath of creation.

💫Through this heart-to-heart conversation, Bob shares the faith journey that shaped his life’s work — from his years as an Army JAG attorney and ethics officer to founding the For Our Friends the Animals Foundation, which built shelters and sanctuaries across Florida.

But beyond his professional milestones lies a deepermission — to awaken reverence for life as taught by Dr. AlbertSchweitzer and embodied in the compassion of Jesus Christ.

He speaks of faith not as ritual, but as relationship.
Of love not as sentiment, but as stewardship.
Of pain not as punishment, but as purpose — a refining fire through which empathy is born.

The conversation dives into how spirituality can guide activism, how prayer can manifest as protection, and how faith can expand into the moral obligation to defend all sentient life.

Bob’s words flow like scripture meeting soul — abridge between heaven’s compassion and earth’s responsibility.

🔥As the finale of episode 5 of Season 2 unfolds, Bob reminds us that true discipleship isn’t found only in prayer or pews, but in how gently we walk among all living beings.

Every rescued dog, every healed wound, every act ofmercy — these are the gospel in motion.
He invites listeners to see God not only in the heavens, but in the eyes of the voiceless — the abandoned, the beaten, the forgotten.

His journey — surviving cancer, serving his country, and dedicating his life to God’s creatures — stands as living proof that hope resurrects itself through service.

It’s a finale that feels like a homecoming — wherefaith, empathy, and activism converge into one luminous truth:
To love all life is to live the Gospel.

🙌As the curtains close on this soulful episode, we invite you to pause — not just to listen, but to remember why we were called to care in the first place.

🎙️ Tails of Hope | Season 2 Episode 5, Part 1 — “Reverence for Life: A Faith Beyond Species” featuring Bob Echols

A sacred whisper calls from the heart of creation — will we listen?

In this deeply moving episode of Tails of Hope,we sit with Bob Echols, an award-winning author, Army veteran, cancer survivor, and steward of God’s creatures, whose life is an anthem of compassion in action.

Through his writings and speaking, Bob revives atruth humanity has long forgotten: reverence for life is not an ideal — it is our divine duty. Drawing from Christian spirituality, the teachings of Dr. Albert Schweitzer, and his own journey through pain, faith, and purpose, Bob reminds us that every creature is a reflection of divine love — and to harmthem is to silence a fragment of God’s voice.

🐾 “God’s creation is not ours to dominate, but to protect.”
With this powerful conviction, Bob challenges the cultural and theological blindness that separates spirituality from stewardship. His story is not merely about animals — it is about rediscovering the sacred in all life.
A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, New York University, and Emory University, Bob once served as an Army JAG attorney and ethics officer before turning his focus toward faith-driven advocacy. As the founder of the For Our Friends the Animals Foundation, he transformed belief into tangible compassion — funding shelters, supporting sanctuaries, andinspiring communities to act.

But what makes Bob’s voice extraordinary is not onlyhis intellect — it’s his intimacy with suffering and survival. Having faced cancer, he carries the quiet authority of one who understands that life’s fragility is what makes it holy. His reflections bridge scripture, science, and soul, inviting us to live the commandment of love in its fullest, widest sense.
This episode is an awakening for every listener who’s ever felt the dissonance between faith and action — between prayer and practice. Bob invites us to close that gap.
To extend love beyond pews and people, toward paws and wings.
To see Christ not only in the face of humanity, but in the eyes of every living being that breathes, trusts, and hopes beside us.

This conversation becomes a mirror — revealing howfaith without compassion is hollow, and how true worship lies in kindness without conditions.
Let this episode stir your spirit.
Let it make you rethink what it means to follow faith, to serve life, to truly love as Jesus loved.

Tails of Hope India – Voices for the Voiceless: Animal Advocacy for Every Paw | Season 2 | Episode 2 (Part 1) Guest: Dr. Ceri Lewis Moore – Veterinarian, Writer, Mental Health Advocate12 Sep 202500:48:21

🌟Tails of Hope Podcast | Season 2 | Episode 2 (Part 1)

Guest: Dr. Ceri Lewis Moore –Veterinarian, Writer, Mental Health Advocate

Behind every wagging tail and grateful purr lies astory of resilience — not just of animals, but of the people who care for them.In this deeply moving Episode 2, Part 1 of Tails of Hope Season 2, we welcome Dr. Ceri Lewis Moore, a small-animal veterinarian whose 14+ years in practice have spanned farm, equine, and mixed practice before settling into small animal care.

Ceri’s story is not only about medicine. It’s aboutcompassion, perseverance, and the untold challenges vets face daily — especially when financial realities collide with the desire to give animals the very best.
Ceri opens up about what it means to practice in rural areas of Wales and Shropshire, where resources are limited, budgets are tight, and yet the love for animals runs deep. She shares the hard but necessary conversations withclients about balancing costs and care — and how empathy, honesty, and creativity are vital tools in a vet’s kit, alongside medicine.

But what makes Ceri’s voice so unique is her openness about mental health in the veterinary profession. In a fieldwhere burnout, compassion fatigue, and “the black dog” of depression are sadly common, she champions the belief that every voice matters — no matter how quiet. Her own mantra, #dontlettheblackdogbeatyou (unless it’s a Labrador),is more than a hashtag; it’s a rallying cry for authenticity, vulnerability, and hope.

Beyond the clinic, she is also a creative writer, aworking mum of three country kids, and someone who embraces life’s diversity — from the military to human medicine to veterinary science. Her “wonky careerpath,” as she calls it, has given her a gift: the ability to connect with almost anyone, human or animal, with empathy and ease.
Why should you listen to this episode? Because it goes beyond pets and practice. It dives into universal themes of balance, resilience, and mental health — lessons anyone can carry into their own lives.

You’ll discover:

Ceri’s journey is a reminder that compassion mustextend not just to animals, but also to those who care for them. In her words and stories, you’ll find courage to face your own “black dog,” and inspiration to support the healers who dedicate their lives to others.

Tails of Hope India – Voices for the Voiceless: Animal Advocacy for Every Paw | Season 2 | Episode 1 (Finale) Guest: Mark Westcombe, Founder & Director – Animal Think Tank (UK)05 Sep 202500:29:48

Tails of Hope Podcast | Season 2 | Episode 1 (Finale)

Guest: Mark Westcombe, Founder & Director – Animal Think Tank (UK)

When history looks back on our time, will it see a society that turned away from violence — or one that rationalised it? In this powerful finale of Episode 1 (Part 2) of Tails of Hope Season 2, we sit again with Mark Westcombe, Founder and Director of Animal Think Tank, UK, to reflect on where the movement for animals stands today, and where it must go tomorrow.

Mark has walked the long road — from grassroots activism to academia, from management consulting to being a key strategist for animal freedom. He has not onlystudied movements but helped build them. In this conversation, his insights invite us to imagine: What will it take for animal freedom to truly become a societal reality?

Mark speaks candidly about the UK’s evolving stance on animal protection. He contrasts the “old school” days of animal rights — defined by direct action, raw politics, and grassroots gatherings — with the rising wave of today: ayounger generation embracing veganism, rethinking lifestyles, and demanding systemic change.

Yet, he doesn’t romanticize progress. Mark identifies the gaps: the need for legislative courage, political accountability, and the reshaping of culturalnarratives that still normalize exploitation. From the halls of power to the language of everyday life, the movement must learn to embed itselfeverywhere.

What’s striking is how Mark weaves his professional expertise into activism. Drawing from decades in management science, impact delivery for long-termprojects, and operational research, he explains how animal advocacy can — and must — adopt rigorous frameworks. Mass organising, he argues, isn’t about isolated passion; it’s about sustained structure, storytelling, and strategy that can endure decades.
Why does this conversation matter to you, the listener? Because it’s not just about animal rights — it’s about how movements succeed or fail. Whether you care about animals, climate change, gender equality, or justice in any form, the principles Mark shares illuminate the pathways of transformation.

You will hear about:

Most importantly, Mark’s reflections spark an inner question: Where do I stand? If movements are not built by others but by us, then what role can I play in building a future where compassion is non-negotiable?

👉 Don’t miss this season opener finale of Tailsof Hope Podcast Season 2. It is not just an episode — it is a blueprint for courage, a compass for movement building, and a reminder that history bends towards those who choose differently.

“From Silence to Service” featuring Ashish Malhotra (Monk On Mission)

Founder – Saviours of Strays

What makes a person walk away from comfort—and walkstraight into suffering?
What transforms an ordinary life into a mission where every breath is dedicated to the voiceless?

In this deeply moving episode of Tails of Hope, we sit with Ashish Malhotra, known to many as Monk On Mission—aman whose life took a radical turn when he chose service over self, and compassion over convenience. As the founder of Saviours of Strays, Ashish stands at the frontlines of India’s street-animal crisis, not with slogans, but with presence, sacrifice, and relentless action.

This is not just an interview.
It is a quiet awakening.

💡From the conversation, Ashish shares how the suffering of street animals—injured, abandoned, unseen—became impossible for him to ignore. What began as concernevolved into commitment, and commitment into a full-time mission.

Through Saviours of Strays, he and his team rescue, rehabilitate, treat, and protect animals who would otherwise be left to fate. But this episode goes beyond rescue statistics. Ashish speaks candidly about:

🐾 The emotional weight of witnessing daily cruelty and neglect
🐾 Why street animals are not “strays” but souls without guardians
🐾 The inner discipline required to keep showing up when resources are scarce
🐾 How compassion, when lived daily, becomes a spiritual practice
🐾 The hard truths behind rescue work that few people see or talk about

The conversation with Ashish reveal’s a man who doesnot romanticize suffering. Instead, he honours it—with honesty, humility, and an unwavering sense of responsibility.

🔥 Listening to Ashish feels like being reminded of something ancient and essential:
that service is not charity—it is remembrance.

He does not position himself as a saviour. He speaksas a witness, a protector, and a fellow traveler on a difficult path. His words invite the listener to question their own relationship with indifference, comfort, and compassion.

This episode will resonate deeply if you’ve everfelt:
• disturbed by street-animal suffering but unsure how to help
• called toward service but afraid of the cost
• emotionally exhausted by the scale of cruelty
• inspired by people who live their values, quietly and consistently

Ashish shows us that you don’t need to be extraordinary to make a difference—you need to be available. And in thatavailability, purpose finds you.

Let this episode be a mirror—and a nudge.
A reminder that compassion is not something we feel once in a while, but something we practice, daily, through choices.

🐾 Because the measure of a society is not how it treats the powerful—but how it protects the forgotten.

Guest: Mark Westcombe, Founder & Director – Animal Think Tank (UK)

🎧 What makes someone leave behind a successful career in management consulting, academia, and impact delivery — to dedicate their life to animal freedom? In this opening episode of Tails of Hope Season 2, we meet MarkWestcombe, founder and director of Animal Think Tank, UK, whose 25+ years of activism span environmental justice, LGBTQ+ rights, communal living, and now the boldest mission of all: building a mass movement for animals.

This is not just a story of veganism. It’s a story of awakening, courage, and reimagining the very frameworks through which society perceives justice and compassion.
In this heartfelt and deeply reflective conversation, Mark shares how a simple remark at a party — “Because I can be” — shifted his worldview forever and planted the seed of veganism. That seed grew into a lifelong commitment: challenging the political, legal, and cultural narratives that sustain animal exploitation.

Mark takes us through his personal journey of transition: from enjoying the outdoors and foraging to questioning the ethicsbehind food on his plate. From grassroots activism in diverse causes to founding an organisation dedicated to strategic, large-scale change. From training future leaders at Lancaster University to becoming one of the architects of the UK’s evolving animal freedom movement.

What stands out in Mark’s story is not just passionbut structure. His work at Animal Think Tank focuses on political and legal strategy, cultural and narrative change, and movement building.

These aren’t abstract concepts — they are actionable tools to dismantle systemic injustice. His background in operational research and long-term impact delivery informs how he and his team design strategies that don’t just raise awareness but lay foundations for lasting transformation, spanning decades.
Why should you care? Because this conversation is not about animals alone. It is about us — our capacity to expand empathy, challenge ingrained habits, and step into a more just way of living.

Mark brings clarity to questions many of us wrestle with:

His reflections will move you, not by overwhelmingyou with guilt, but by empowering you with perspective. He reminds us that every movement for justice, whether for the planet, for gender equality, or for animals, begins with individuals who choose differently.

This episode is rich not only with philosophy butalso with hope: hope for a society where compassion becomes a norm, not an exception. Hope that political will and cultural narratives can be redefined. And hope that listeners like you can become catalysts in the journey towards freedom — for all beings.

💔 What makes a four-year-old rescue a kitten, cry at every rewatch of Eight Below, and grow into a woman who stands fearlessly against social judgment to feed voiceless souls on the street? Meet Seema Gandhiok Mohanchandran—acorporate professional turned fierce animal welfare warrior whose journey began with compassion, and continues with quiet courage.

💡Seema's story isn’t just personal—it’s generational. While flipping through her mother’s old photos, she discovered her great-grandfather feeding stray dogs, surrounded by tails and trust. It made sense: the kindness ran in her blood. That spark ignited early and never left. With her family’s support, Seema has nurtured not just animals, but also a sense of community responsibility and empathy that few dare to voice aloud.

In this heartfelt conversation, she shares her viewson animal welfare as co-existence, not charity. “The wolf was here before us,” she says, reminding us that community animals belong just as much as we do. For Seema, animal welfare means vaccination, sterilization, dignity, and integration—not locking these beings away but letting them belong.

🔥 In a society where feeders are told “Apne ghar le jao,” Seema answers with a smile and a silent mantra: Jai Shree Krishna. From fighting for a blind dog’s right to use an elevator, to watching people discard food bowls or push away strays, Seema’s strength lies in her resolve. “We don’t do this with government funds,” she clarifies, “we do it from our own pockets, out of love.”

She speaks about cultural misconceptions, outdatedtraditions, and the daily judgment she faces—not from the uneducated, but the so-called aware. Her voice is one of resilience. One that says: if you feed with dignity, fight with kindness, and lead with empathy—change follows.

What would make a corporate professional leave behind the comfort of office cabins to feed forgotten paws on the streets? Meet Seema Gandhiok Mohanchandran– a woman whose journey from a compassionate childhood to a powerful voice in the animal welfare movement is nothing short of inspiring.

Her first rescue was at age four—a tiny kitten in need. That moment wasn’t just an emotional plea to her mother, it was the ignition of a fire passed down through generations. Digging into old family photos, Seema discovered hergreat-grandfather—a kind Sikh gentleman feeding stray dogs—proving that love for animals was in her DNA.

Years later, this empathy matured into relentlessaction. With over six years of animal welfare behind her, Seema has become a frontline warrior for community animals. Her heart belongs to the streets—notjust the dogs and cats, but every voiceless soul needing care, food, dignity, and a right to coexist.

She draws inspiration from organizations like AnimalAid (Udaipur), Seva Strays (Mumbai), and Kartavya Society, among others. But Seema doesn’t just talk. She acts. Whether advocating for feeding rights, protesting harmful traditions, or rescuing animals from violence and apathy, she is unwavering.

In this episode, Seema shares gripping stories:
🧍‍♂️ A blind senior dog being denied an elevator ride.
🌳 Citizens uniting to protect forest land in Telangana.
🐕 Feeding strays using what she fondly calls the "Jai Shree Krishna" principle—a clever, spiritual way to disarm naysayers.

She speaks of India's outdated views on strayanimals, where the educated class often shuns streeties, and myths flourish—like believing feeders are paid by the government, when in reality, it’s out of their own pockets.

“Just like we crave a warm meal, they deserve onetoo,” she says. Seema envisions communities embracing strays—not caging them, but vaccinating, sterilizing, and integrating them lovingly. Her fight is not for sympathy, but for empathy, dignity, and co-existence.

If Seema’s story moves you, it’s time to act.

Tails of Hope – Episode 8 Finale 🐾🎙️Guest: Kapil Patwardhan | Rescuer Turned Behavioural Bridge to Street Dogs

Topic: Learning to Listen – Understanding Dogs Beyond Words
What happens when a rescuer doesn’t stop at saving lives—but starts listening to them instead? In this emotionally profound finale of Episode 8, we meet Kapil Patwardhan, who began by fostering strays and is now a passionate student of canine communication. His journey isn’t just about helping dogs; it’s about understanding them—truly, deeply, patiently.

Kapil opens up about a world that most of us miss: the silent signals, the subtle body language, the context of every bark or tail wag.

He’s studied ethology—the science of animal behaviour in their natural environment—and discovered that dogs aren’t just reacting; they’re speaking.

“We think we’re helping them, but often, they’re teaching us—if we just look and listen.”

His insight into the stress signals, misunderstood territorial barking, and the cultural bias against Indies challenges everything we thought we knew about our furry companions. Especially for those scared of dogs, he explains how eye contact and body language can either calm or confuse an animal—and how miscommunication creates fear on both sides.

This is not a technical episode. It’s a soulful awakening. Kapil gently unpacks why empathy, not sympathy, should guide our relationship with street animals.
He speaks of black dogs blinking less, not out of malice, but genetics—and how failing to understand this puts them at higher risk of aggression or relocation.

You’ll hear:
🐾 Why every child should be taught how to read a dog’s body language.
🐾 Why many street incidents happen not from aggression—but misinterpretation.
🐾 How dogs make decisions, and why giving them autonomy is the ultimate act of respect.

If you believe in animal welfare beyond rescue—this episode is for you. If you’ve ever fed a street dog, feared one, or tried to help and felt helpless—this episode is for you.

🎧 Listen now to Kapil’s journey from burnout to awakening, from fear to trust.

🌟This isn’t just an interview—it’s a masterclass in compassion.

Tails Of Hope - Kapil Patwardhan - Episode 8 Part 120 Jun 202500:38:13

Tails of Hope – Episode 8, Part 1
Guest: Kapil Patwardhan – From Rescuer to Dog Behaviourist
Have you ever felt a calling deeper than your profession — one that speaks directly to your soul? This week, we bring you the moving story of Kapil Patwardhan, a man who went from corporate life to compassion — and never looked back.
Kapil’s journey into animal welfare didn’t begin with grand plans. It started, like many real stories do, by accident — or perhaps, destiny. His parents used to volunteer at adoption drives. One day, he took home a furry baby to foster. The dog was adopted — and returned. It happened again. That feeling of being abandoned? It left a mark — not just on the dog, but on Kapil too.

He left the corporate grind in 2018 to follow a paththat fed his soul. From rescuing dogs, learning the hard truths of animal cruelty, to becoming a dog behaviourist who believes in empathy — not control —Kapil's life has become a testimony to love without conditions.

His voice breaks when he recalls the stabbed dogduring lockdown, the one who limped up, wagging his tail. He rescued him. Two years later, passing the same street, the dog was still there — and remembered him. That moment, says Kapil, was enough to keep going for years.
Kapil doesn't just train dogs — he listens. He advocates for Indies, the misunderstood, overlooked street dogs of India. "They’ve survived for thousands of years on their own instincts. We’re not here to micro-manage them. We’re here to respect their space," he says.

He speaks openly about emotional burnout, themyth of certain breeds being apartment-suited, and how we impose our expectations on animals without understanding their innate needs. His insights into why empathy is greater than sympathy, and why animal communication is often misused, will move you deeply.

Kapil reminds us that you don’t have to rescuehundreds to make a difference. “Do what you can, donate where you can, love where you can,” he says. And above all — don’t lose yourself in the pain. For him, sometimes, healing comes from an episode of Seinfeld, or a dog’ssilent look of recognition.
This is a story of hope, heartbreak, healing — and coming home to yourself.

Tails of Hope – Episode 7 FINALE | Guest: Kushal Chipkar"Training hearts before paws."
What if dog training could heal more than just behaviour? What if it could transform entire communities? In the finale of Tails of Hope, dog trainer and behaviourist Kushal Chipkar shares a raw, heartfelt journey that goes far beyond commands and collars. This is not just about dogs—this isabout humanity, survival, and soulful connections between street animals and society.
From dealing with misunderstood Indie dogs and their instincts like food guarding and maternal aggression, to confronting societal resistance—Kushal opens up about his personal challenges and the emotional toll of being a voice for the voiceless. He speaks about the genetic resilience of street dogs, how generations have learned to "be nice" to survive, and how the public often mistakes survival instincts for aggression.

But what truly stands out is how Kushal bridgesanimal care with social reform. He trains underprivileged children in dog handling, creating dignity, direction, and love in lives that society often ignores. The story of street kids transforming into confident handlers—whilelearning empathy through dogs—is one of the most emotionally stirring parts of this episode.

Kushal doesn’t just train dogs—he trains mindsets. He dreams of a future where every feeder has legal protection, where dog training is part of school curriculums, where communities respect the presence of furries rather than treating them as threats. He pleads for better support systems, mental health aid for feeders, and humane training programs that uplift both dogs and children.

He shares practical steps you can take today, whether it's understanding how to approach an Indie, building a bond, or simply teaching your child how to behave around street dogs. His honest truths and unfiltered emotions will leave you teary-eyed—and inspired.

Tails of Hope – Episode 7 Part 1 | Kushal Chipkar – Understanding the Street Soul: Training for Coexistence06 Jun 202500:35:00

How do you train a dog who has known only thestreets? Who guards his food because he doesn’t know when the next meal is? Who lashes out not out of anger—but survival?

Kushal Chipkar, a compassionate dog trainer and behaviourist, takes us deep into the unseenworld of training not just dogs—but also humans. In this heartfelt conversation, he reveals that street dogs—our Indies—aren’t born aggressive. They’re born into chaos, into generations of learning how to be “good” just to survive among us.

But it’s not just about teaching a dog to “sit” or “stay.” It’s about building understanding between humans and animals—between societies that fear street dogs and feeders who protect them.

Kushal shares how deeply ingrained survivalinstincts like maternal aggression or resource guarding can cause incidents—especially during summers when food and water are scarce. He discusses the ten types of dog aggression, especially in Indies, and how they stem from trauma, instinct, and lack of human education.

He also speaks about the genetics of Indies—howtheir nature has evolved to adapt to our chaos, and how easily they are misunderstood, relocated, or harmed when they act out. Yet, they still try to coexist. That’s the miracle.

This isn’t just about dog training. It’s about society training.

Kushal offers insight into how we can educatehousing societies, conduct awareness sessions, and train school children to interact safely and compassionately with community animals. His dream is simple: a middle ground—where feeders, residents, children, and dogs live together with mutual respect.

Because every bark isn’t a threat. Sometimes, it’s acall for space… or just water.

🎧 Listen tothis eye-opening episode of Tails of Hope and discover how dog training can change not just dogs—but entire communities.
