#44 What is Pitt?
jeudi 14 novembre 2024 • Duration 07:00
This is episode number two of the trilogy:
What is Vat?
What is Pitt?
What is Kaph?
Pitt is the best approximation spelling of the dosha which is transliterated as Pitta in the Western world and pronounced as "Pit-ta" emphasizing the double “t” sound.
It is the dosha of people with a physiology that is agni-predominant and is divided into the five sub-doshas listed below (spelled Western style):
1) Pachaka Pitta
2) Ranjaka Pitta
3) Sadaka Pitta
4) Alochaka Pitta
5) Bhranjaka Pitta
#43 What is Vat?
jeudi 31 octobre 2024 • Duration 07:04
This episode is the first of a trilogy:
What is Vat?
What is Pitt?
What is Kaph?
Vat is the more proper spelling of the dosha which is transliterated as Vata in the Western world and pronounced as "Wata". Since Sanskrit has no letters, its "alphabet" is rather a syllabary, much like the Japanese katakana and hiragana, where characters represent full syllables instead of consonantal or vocalic sounds that have to be combined to make syllables. When a Sanskrit syllable has no vowel at the end, a minuscule "A" sound is attached to it, and since Western alphabets don't know of these short or "half vowels" the transliterations frequently add a full "A" sound at the end. Furthermore, familiar words such as Yoga and Ayurveda are actually "Yog" and "Ayurved" in their original Sanskrit form, they just get a full "A" sound appended at the end.
Vat or Vata is one of the three ayurvedic doshas and is the dosha of people with a physiology that is marut-predominant. It is divided into the five sub-doshas listed below (spelled Western style) on which Vaidya Mishra elaborates in this episode covering the functions and the parts of the physical body that each of them governs:
1) Prana Vata
2) Udana Vata
3) Samana Vata
4) Apana Vata
5) Vyana Vata
#34 The Poisons in Nightshade Foods
jeudi 27 juin 2024 • Duration 36:09
In this episode, Dr. Lisa Rasking, D.C., Vaidya Mishra’s accomplished student and research collaborator, explains the dangers of consuming vegetables from the nightshade family. These veggies, which include eggplants, bell peppers, tomatoes, and potatoes, contain several neurotoxic substances, like nicotine and particularly solanine. These toxic chemicals are produced by the plants to protect themselves from insects and are in reality nature’s-made pesticides, which modern laboratories utilize to manufacture rat poison and herbicides.
Solanine, which accumulates in the body’s involuntary muscle tissues and the intestines’ lining, is directly related to osteoporosis and general calcium and vitamin D deficiency. It “deviates” the calcium causing it to accumulate and build up in the wrong tissues instead of being put to work on building healthy bones. It also interferes with neuronal synapses and affects our joints among several other disruptions.
Modern Western research is corroborating today what the ancient sutras of ayurveda knew since time immemorial and Vaidya Mishra learned from his father and ancestors in his Shaka Vanshyia lineage of healers.
This lecture was recorded from a live event with in-person and remote participants (via phone connection) and is included on the DVD set “Principles of SVA Food” available for purchase at Chandika.com.
#33 Vitamin D - PART 2
vendredi 14 juin 2024 • Duration 41:26
In this two-part dissertation, Dr. Teitelbaum explains all one needs to know about this indispensable vitamin to stay healthy. Among the many important roles of vitamin D in our physiology inhibiting cancer and assisting in the absorption of calcium are but two highlights. Unfortunately, in the US and most of the Western world, modern lifestyle has produced an endemic deficiency of vit. D levels with which modern "medicine" simply can't cope. The recommended daily ingestion values of vit. D have been doubled and tripled by medical "authorities" without solving or even minimally alleviating the problem (while creating liver and kidney imbalances that have led to patients' deaths). A problem that the ancient Sanskrit text solved millennia ago.
Part 1 discusses the dilemmas of vitamin D deficiency and highlights the pitfalls of the "big pharma Docs", while Part 2 brings the divine light of Ayurveda and the SVA tradition to the rescue.

#29 How to Clear Acne without Harming Your Body
jeudi 18 avril 2024 • Duration 20:38
Hormonal changes, birth control pills, greasy fast food, and excessive refined sugars can all add up to a genetic predisposition that results in acne. Sadly, this skin disorder is frequently treated in the West through antibiotics and other medications that lower the action of our immune system and can result in inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis colitis, and many other illnesses.
Dr. Teitelbaum explains in depth the underlying causes of acne and discusses the harmless Ayurvedic alternatives to treat it.
#28 The Deep Causes of Hair Loss

In this day and age of massive exposure to poisonous chemicals and radiation in our everyday lives, hair weakening and eventual loss is a misfortunate reality for many men and women, older and younger. Frequently, it is addressed as a problem of the hair follicle and scalp when in reality its origin can be as deep as the health of bones and proper functioning of the thyroid gland.
