EPISODE 10 - It Went By So Fast - "Everything good in my life came from you"

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Best Superman Finale of all time, mostly because it was an actual Finale. And I think because of that and other things, it’s the best Superman tv series of all time.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 10 - It Went By So Fast

To Live And Die Again - “Do You Like, Need A Hug?”02 Dec 202400:26:52

EPISODE 9 - To Live And Die Again - “Do you like, need a hug?”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 9 - To Live And Die Again

Written and Directed by:

Jai Jamison

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

Lois struggles against the fallout of the debate; Clark uses Luthor's tactics against him, while Jonathan and Jordan prepare for an impending battle.

HENRY'S NOTES:

Should we approach this on its own or AS a penultimate series episode or both?

  • Kinda sad that Otis died off screen, like for the actor and character
  • I like that there are consequences to Clark thinking he went over the line “stooping to Luthor’s level”
  • “I do not need your help with this” is the wrong thing to say to your kid at any age.
  • It’s better that the consequences for Lois is that she can’t get advertisers, not her safety.
  • “Maybe it’s time we got into his head
  • Tyler Hoechlin merch! Finally! Can I get some of that?
    • I love when there’s Superman merch on tv
    • “Jordan’s loaded curly fries.” “On the kids menu?”
      • Jordan’s curly fries are amazing and I want them
  • Love that Jonathan wants to step up.
  • Gretchen Kelly is already dead off screen.
  • Superman in Luthor’s office. Inject it into my veins
    • Superman is carrying himself differently than he was as Clark
    • He’s getting into Luthor’s head and I love it
    • “Enjoy your freedom Lex, it’s running out. Nice tie
      • There does seem to be some history between Superman and Luthor
  • I appreciate that Lois is pissed but in real life in 2024, she could just start her own podcast or site, or network and would get tons of advertisers.
  • Clark: “You and me are unstoppable”
  • Lois Lane has a masterclass, chapter 7, “When you hit a wall, trust your gut and retrace your steps and go back to the beginning”
  • “You’re such a dork.” “yeah that’s why you love me”
  • Loooooved the “hey boys we gotta talk” super hearing moment
  • It’s great how everyone is respectful of Clark and then Clark “gives the people what they want.” - that’s some real Superman shit there.
  • Amanda calling Luthor “babe” is so cringe. You know he hates that.
  • He pronounced it, “Luthor CORE” - I knew it!
    • Luthor is doing a manipulative power move
  • Oh yes, I love that they’re using the Fortress VR video game system
    • Is this supposed to played for comedy?
  • MANHEIM! YES!
    • This is a very well acted scene
    • Manheim has pull in the joint, this meeting has been VERY long
    • Very good stuff with Cheryl’s back story with Luthor
    • Manheim with the ultimate babyface turn, “I’m glad Superman’s back”
  • I’m sorry the computer room is so cliche
  • Interesting hearing about the power lever of Superman. ANd his sons’ power level. Love that he got a good scene with Lara, they haven’t had a moment like this since she debuted
  • I need to know more about Milton Fine. Like where is he from? Why does he hate Superman?
  • “You need to figure out what Jordan and jonathan can’t do and what they can”
    • This is Lois’s show
  • Jon: “Do you like, need a hug?”
    • Oh hell yes, Superboys vs Superman.
  • So Lex’s endgame is revenge on Smallville?
    • This is an amazing scene with Lex and Amanda
    • Lex put on the suit but it’s not green and purple
  • SHIRT RIP!
  • So Doomsday has fire breath?
  • Ohhhh Jordan’s power is his empathy. Looooove.
    • This is the best Jordan has been all season.
    • His strength isn’t being sad and mopey, it’s quirky and sweet.
    • Oh hell yes, Jonathan catching a car like his dad, with his own theme music?
  • Lex’s inside computer is Purple and Green
  • INCREDIBLE CLIFFHANGER!

What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger - “It's a little 1991 Wesley Snipes.”20 Oct 202301:00:51

EPISODE 13: What Kills You Only Makes You Stronger - “It's a little 1991 Wesley Snipes.”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Thoughts on My Adventures with Superman?

Nervous about a rumor that next season they’re taking away Superman’s powers cuz they have no budget for high level special effects.

My experience meeting Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 13

S03E12 -

Directed by:

Gregory Smith

Written By:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

The Apple TV Recap is:

All of Smallville comes together to view the meteor shower, Lex Luthor makes his move.

  • “What will Lex Luthor do next?”
  • Haha Jordan doesn’t have plans for the summer.
  • Kyle and Chrissy
    • Diving right into the pregnancy right away. Never heard of protection in 2023? Anyway, I’m happy for them if they’re happy. Especially cuz we’ll pretty much never see them next season.
    • Love how happy Lois and Clark are for Chrissy. Very sweet.
    • Also very sweet that we got a little tv season finale, romantic gesture, proposal.
  • John Henry and Nat and Lana
    • I like how Lana was straight up and direct with John Henry about a date. Btw, I didn’t realize this but in a recent backup story in Action Comics it was said that John Henry and Lana are engaged! Cool to see something carry over from the New 52 that was good.
    • John Henry and Nat could open STEELWORKS! As if that’s something they’ve been talking about all season, which they haven’t but we know about it.
    • I like how Lana and John Henry were having a pretty heavy conversation to start things off. That seems real for two adults who have past relationships and children etc.
    • “Guess I’m gonna have to make you wish you weren’t.” This is the Emmanuelle Chriqui I remember ;-)
  • Lois and Clark
    • I love that Lois is back. That was a really rough season but powerful. And Clark is just so great. I’m glad there’s at least another season left cuz I’m not ready to say goodbye yet. Love the family vaca in Italy. “It’s been a tough year,” no shit Clark.
    • I like that the Lane Kents get together for dinner at the diner. It’s cute.
    • “Oh Dad: One, Jordan: Zero
    • Ugh Jordan is soooooooo rude to Sarah. I hate that. Little prick. Glad Clark fixed that.
  • Lex Luthor and his plan
    • Straight up killing the judge. This is some scary Byrne/Ordway/Stern Luthor shit.
    • I knew something was up with Sam’s very sexually aggressive hookup.
    • Well glad Bizarro didn’t eat Otis.
    • Love love love that they did the actual origin of Doomsday from Hunter/Prey but made it in Metropolis with Luthor. It’s sort of like what Luthor always wanted in the comics: To be the one who made Doomsday. And what a great way to combine Luthor/Bizarro/Doomsday all into one thing. Really creative. Taking things that have been done and finding new ways to do them.
      • The Way Luthor talks to Bizarro reminds me of how he talked to Doomsday’s dead body in Funeral for a Friend.
    • Luthor’s a fucking psychopath
    • Hearing Luthor insult Superman “lap dog in a cape” is just so classic. Cudlitz kinda nailed it in a short period of time.
    • What did you think of Doomsday’s final form? What did you think of the final battle? I thought kinda better than a lot of final CGI battles in MCU movies. Like as recently as secret invasion.
    • The look Superman gave Lois right before he took off, was it sort of like, “this is the big one. This might be the last time I see you.” And was that a look he’s given before?
    • The underwater ice thing was so cool. Throw this fucker into the sun Clark!
    • Very interesting and stylized way to end it with Soundgarden. It’s a banger that starts off very soft.
    • It was cool seeing Superman meet his physical match. Like I could see these guys taking each other down right in front of the Daily Planet.
    • On the moon, very reminiscent of Superman IV.
    • Incredible cliff hanger

Injustice - “What Are You Gonna Do, A Podcast Or Something?”20 Jul 202300:37:22

EPISODE 12: Injustice - “What are you gonna do, a podcast or something?”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Tons of Superman news, specifically Superman and Lois. The good news is Superman and Lois was renewed for Season 4. The bad news was that it was at a great cost. Kind of like the end of a superhero movie. Only 10 episodes and The Cushings, Irons’ and Sam Lane were all cut from the regular cast.

Sam, what are your thoughts?

In larger Superman news, The Flash movie finally came out. I know a lot of things have been spoiled and I’m not in the business of spoiling things, but I will say there are a lot of Superman treats and easter eggs in it. Is it a good movie? I don’t think so. But I did enjoy myself. The Batman stuff is really fun.

It is a fun theater experience, but since it’s doing so poorly it’ll probably be out on Max soon.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 12

S03E12 - Injustice

Directed by:

Sudz Sutherland

Written By:

Michael Narducci

The IMDB & Apple TV Recap is:

Lois and Clark clash with Jordan over his carelessness around using his powers in public. And finally, after seventeen years behind bars, Lex Luthor is set to be released from prison.

  • HENRY's NOTES:
  •
  • There’s Clark taking away the computer again. Love that he’s washing her hair. So sweet. Injustice is a reference to her losing a part of her body
  • I love that they’re teeing up Luthor ready to kill Lois and Clark protecting her.
  • Cool Lex music. The idea of Lex in prison for 20 years is so interesting. Love that he gets a nice soft boiled egg for breakfast. Who’s the pic? Does he have a daughter? Who’s the mom?
  • Who’s Janet? Foswell gave the Luthor story to Simone. Who’s Simone?
  • Love Clark mouthing “no no” haha
  • Whoa Lex with hair in the flashback? OTIS! Drops wedding ring but has pic of kid.
  • LOVE Lois’ look with the hat. Looks like the Jenny Frison cover from Lois Lane #1.
  • Haha Bazoombas makes another appearance. Why has Bazoombas become a thing?
    • What did you think about all the Alpha Male vs Alpha Male FD thing?
    • Is Kyle being nice to Jonathan because he knows Clark is Superman?
  • Sam Lane - I guess in a world where Superman is the only hero then it IS a big deal that there’s another super in Smallville. Yes, they had Kryptonians attack them but another Hero is different. Not sure why.
  • Why is it Jordan’s fault that Sarah’s having a rough time
  • What do you think about Luthor shaving his head vs having lost his hair at a young age? To paraphrase a quote from Larry David, those who shave their head to cultivate a look are not part of the bald community. I think a Luthor who has lost his hair all the way at a young age or is losing his hair so shaves it is better than a full thick head of gorgeous hair and shaves it.
    • Why did Luthor let his ass get kicked? Mind games? False sense of security?
    • Did you notice that the prison standard issue had the prisoner names on it? Isn’t the whole thing about prison is they dehumanize you by giving you just a number?
  • So Otis is not Luthor’s henchman but a rival. Cool twist. I like that the Warden is just blatant about being crooked.
  • So was Superman and Lois’ Luthor one that had hair? Interesting….
  • Damn this Lex is cold. I kinda love it.
  • Oooooh Tornado in Smallville! Classic Superman Stuff! My first thought was, “will there be an MOS reference to Pa Kent putting his hand up?”
  • Superman vs a Tornado is always good. One of the better parts of Superman IV which was deleted. Can you freeze a tornado?! Do you think you can talk inside a tornado?
  • Haha, who are these idiots standing in front of a window? They’ve obviously seen a tornado before! Kyle and Jonathan just standing there watching?!
  • Oy Jordan, not good. Doing the whole “I dunno” teenage thing.
  • What was that little power display with Clark? Was Clark trying to grab Jordan and he used his powers to break away?
  • Sam giving the advice of “reign him in” - clearly doesn’t understand how teenagers work. I do like how Sam explained the flight path thing. That makes sense.
  • Dean Jr looks like he’s 45.
  • Does Jonathan also have a video game system in his room?
  • Oh my god did Lex Luthor walk from Stryker’s Island to Smallville?!
    • Oooooh Luthor is SCARY
    • “What I want is to never have to read your words again”
    • “But I wasn’t wrong about what you are”
    • Yeah Clark, stand up to that bully!
    • “Don’t ever come back” - “Then you’d better retire”
    • “Tell Superman he’s next”
    • Ha! Otis is now his henchman
  • I know head shaving scenes are cool, but well you know how I feel about this. Better shave that beard. Haha I knew his chair would definitely be a person
    • Who’s Dr. Hook, who’s Orr?
    • YES LEX AND BIZARRO! The way it should be.
    • Going with the Horror version of Bizarro. Eating rats and mutilating Otis. Nice.

Complications - “It’s Ok To Let Go”14 Jun 202300:32:28

S03E11 - Complications-

Directed by:

Jai Jamison

Written By:

Katie Aldrin, George Kitson (Teleplay)

Brent Fletcher, Todd Helbing (Story)

The IMDB & Apple TV Recap is:

Clark helps Lois prepare for a procedure but must leave the boys with her to help John Henry and Gen. Lane track down the Mannheims; John Henry and Nat butt heads over her desire to help Matteo; Bruno's plans go awry; Peia's condition worsens.

  • Nice seeing an opening with an action scene and the heroic version of the theme. Especially because the next scene is heavy
  • I’m glad he told Kyle and Kyle isn’t being weird. “The time I pantsed you in gym class.” Is Kyle overreacting to Chrissy or is it a CW forced conflict thing?
  • For a second I thought Lana called John Henry “sweetie.”
  • Mateo and Nat dated for like 10 seconds. Meh.
  • Sarah’s like, “why are you being like this?” Because he’s always like this Sarah. He’s the moody one. This is some silly CW stuff
  • “See it’s what they’re known for the wings. The wings”
  • What did Lois mean when she said to Clark, “you’re enjoying this part way too much” after he took her phone? Is it that she needs help and can’t be on the job? I know it was a loving joke to her husband, I just didn’t get it.
  • For an episode about Lois’ surgery there’s a lot of teen drama not connected to it.
  • Ooh I love seeing John Henry and Nat in their suits together
  • Jordan is having a panic attack in the OR. There’s NO way he should’ve been there to begin with. Btw, a hospital is a good place to have a panic attack, no?
    • Well I guess if you’re Superboy, no.
    • Love that Jonathan grounded him. Such good brother shit.
  • I gotta say, Peia is one of the first really good, scary, new villains in a long time.
    • A lot of these shows villains are from the C and D list but she's legit scary.
  • I like how serious Kyle takes the Sarah situation
  • Wait what happened to Peia? Is she going to explode? Superman needs to take her to outer space. Just do it CLARK!
  • Poor Sarah, this is some heavy shit, is being a waitress a cure for depression or is it just having a job is stability, responsibility, etc.
  • Superman saying “It’s ok to let go” is huge. He’s someone who insists on saving everyone so to confront the idea that some people aren’t savable is really a big deal. SAM AGREES AND ALSO THIS WHOLE SEQUENCE WAS A+ STUFF
  • Yep, Kyle apologized to Chrissy at the end. Typical CW stuff.
  • I like that the thread of Manheim’s humanity that has been a part of the whole season, had some finality and he didn’t just turn into an all evil villain.
  • Ohhhh yeah, a big Bizarro battle is coming! They played the reverse theme too!

Collision Course - "Single Player I Guess"09 Jun 202300:29:41

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 10

S03E10 - Collision Course

Directed by:

Elaine Mongeon

Written By:

Max Cunningham

Max Kronick

The IMDB & Apple TV Recap is

Lois interviews Peia in the hope of unearthing the truth about an old case; Clarke struggles to spend quality time with the boys; Jonathan and Jordan find themselves at a party where tensions between Sarah and Jordan come to a head.

Show Notes:

  • Lois' speech. "strength and hope" she gets it.
  • "The secret wife of Bruno Manheim" classless headline. Trashy. Surprised, Lois approved it.
  • Lana has aspirations of bigger offices? Kinda like comics? Pete Ross
  • "Can't you just use AP stuff?" Sam, kyle referenced what you've said multiple times about small town papers
  • Again, someone in Smallville has powers - you mean SUPERMAN!?
  • "Your D is weaker than you without super powers" "single player I guess"
  • Clark is a WRESTLING FAN!!!! They used to go all the time when they lived in Metropolis!
  • This is such a dick move by the kids. Clark actually bought tickets.
  • I don't get small towns. How can teenagers have a kegger in broad daylight in a public place? This doesn't seem realistic. Also, maybe because I'm a dad now but I hate seeing underage drinking on tv. Kids watch this show. It's irresponsible showing how "cool it is". Maybe I'm a square but I dunno.
  • I hate the word cringe but I hate even more when Jordan's awkwardness makes me cringe
  • Lex Luthor has an aura, like the devil. The only man that scares Peia. Great description.
  • Is it sexist to think this Governor is an asshole? Or am I supposed to?
  • Oh my god that was a terrifying crash. But I don't like how everyone assumes it's "someone with powers" and not Superman.
  • Whoa underage DUI. That's super serious.
  • "I loved hanging out with my mom when I was their age" "that's one of the main reasons I love you"
  • Clark has a reason to be hurt but obviously he overreacted. Another great example of Clark being "human"
  • I liked how Jonathan was the voice of reason for Clark and it didn't turn into a bigger thing.
  • I gotta hand it to them, Peia is a super scary villain. Oy poor Lois!
  • Good, now Kyle knows. I'm fine with that. I hope it doesn't turn into a thing.
  • Great episode.

The Dress - “Bazoombas”25 May 202300:28:09

Sam and Henry talk a little about the end of the Arrowverse with Flash Season 9 coming to an end then dive right into a very emotionally intense episode. As usual some comic references along the way including a Jerry Siegel issue from 1941!

HENRY'S NOTES:

EPISODE 9: The Dress - “Bazoombas”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 9

S03E9 - The Dress

Directed by:

Stephen Maier

Written By:

Kristi Korzec

The IMDB & Apple TV Recap is:

Superman and John Henry clash over how to handle Bruno Mannheim; Lois worries over upcoming treatments and confides in Lana about her early courtship with Clark.

Superman stuff

  • Superman is so compassionate. He knows what Maheim is going through
  • Superman never breaks a promise.
  • Superman/John Henry tension. Very good.
  • Superman fanfare when he busts in and saves John Henry from Henry Miller.
    • Really good score. Did you notice it?

Manheim Family

  • Oooh John Henry taking point over Superman
  • Peia’s at the DoD so Manheim needs them
  • Well it answers your question about Matteo and are you crabby about it?
  • Oh shit, Manheim’s bringing Matteo into it

Cancer stuff

  • FLASHBACK TO LOIS AND CLARK ENGAGED AND AT THE PLANET!!!!!
  • Really good to hear good news about the Cancer.
  • Oh my god these Flashbacks are killing me.
  • Superman is so good at everything he can even pick out a dress.
  • Cal Ripkin Rookie card!
  • Really real conversation happening on national television between Lois and Lana. Wow.
  • Awww Lois loves Clark. That smile. Wow.
  • BAZOOMBAS. Dead.
  • Good little talk with Clark and the boys. Brief but reassuring.
  • Aw, Lois didn’t win. I love that it was her idea to have the wedding at the farm. Do you notice that flashback-Clark has less of a five o’clock shadow.
  • “How fast can you get this dress off?” Clark should’ve said, “Faster than a speeding bullet”
  • Dammit well Tyler made my cry. I think first time this season.
  • “Do you want to cuddle? May just be cuddling for a while.”
  • He’s not wearing glasses at home! Yay!
  • Awww they’re gonna fly together just to fly. I’m crying.I love this show so much, how dare they even think of canceling it.
  • “I love you Clark. More than ever.”

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry/Lana/Sarah/Kyle/Chrissy

  • It’s not a big deal that there’s a superhero in town. Again, it literally happened in this series where Superman saved people from a fire.
  • Of course the twins are keeping a secret from their parents
  • Haha a night stick that would kill a rhino
  • It seems kinda vague that good lawyers keep Manheim from an attempted murder charge. Unless we didn't see an arrest and then him getting out.
  • Does Jonathan like
  • John Henry referred to his sister as “his sister”
  • Matteo heard rumors of his dad. HAHA “I love you” HAHAHA
  • Lana being a good friend is some good shit. More of that. She did that scene with Clark really well.
  • Sarah and twins are kinda weird just watching Nat constantly.
  • Hug it out.
  • Why does John Henry only have a Nightwing stick
  • Ok there’s literally a supervillain fight in downtown Smallville, a super being save ppl from a fire doesn’t matter!
  • Home Run John! Ohhhhh shit, John Henry killed Atom Man

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - “Flying Is Awesome”12 May 202300:29:35

EPISODE 8: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner - “Flying Is Awesome”

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 8

S03E8 - Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner

Directed by:

Gregory Smith

Written By:

Aaron Helbing

The IMDB & Apple TV Recap is: In the wake of learning that Bruno and Peia are married, Clark works to reignite Lois' interest in taking Bruno down; Natalie meets Matteo's parents for the first time, with disastrous consequences; Jordan interferes with Jonathan's training.

Henry's notes:

This episode felt the most like a Superman comic with, a quote from Bamsmackpow “Superman & Lois begins to coalesce its multiple season plots in this episode in a fantastic, organic way, while setting the stage for a classic villain.”

Superman stuff

  • Cute that Clark took Chrissy flying
  • Damn Peia is fucking scary
  • BIZARRO IS AWAKE!

Manheim investigation and Family

  • It’s always funny when I see Clark doing human things like texting.
  • Are Matteo and Sarah serious? Like already meeting the parents?
  • Interesting twist of Lois defending Bruno. “It reads like gossip to me”
  • It’s funny that Lois did a masterclass
  • “He’s the leader of Intergang and the biggest weapons dealer in the country.” Wow. He’s kinda like the toastmaster guy in Man of Steel plus Manheim.
  • Lois is done. Wow.
  • Lex Luthor Killed Boss Moxie - father of Bruno, leader of Intergang. Superboy Prime killed him in Infinite Crisis 7
  • Whoa, Peia’s powers fluctuate when she’s having a reaction
  • “Flying is awesome”
  • Lois is back after seeing some evidence.
  • I love the slow burn of getting Luthor back in
  • Little Aces is basically a known mobster hang out
  • Oh my god, they pulled guns out with the kids there! Finally we get to see Bruno as a BAD GUY.
  • Onomatopoeia imitated Lex’s voice.
  • Does Manheim have super strength?
  • “I think we put Lex Luthor in prison for a crime he didn’t commit” - WHOA

Cancer stuff

  • Oof, Lois is weak. This is a tough watch. Clark had to turn the downstairs office into a bedroom. This is a very real portrayal of what goes on with chemo

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • Jordan busting Jonathan’s balls about being a trainee. Cute. The Rookie hazing stuff is weird on the FD, like aren’t firefighters hard to come by?
  • Ooh Jordan got Jonathan in trouble
  • Hahahaha Jordan is listening to The Cure!!!!! “Pretty dark for my mom, who is she?!”
  • John Henry and his “sister” - starting to make a connection.
  • Oh boy, John Henry going nuclear. But he’s kinda right. The phone was a bit much though.

Lana/Sarah/Kyle/Chrissy

  • Girls night out Lana/sarah - I love how Lana’s 90’s music taste is a running bit. THE CURE! CD MIX! LOL
  • Did Sarah get a new haircut/color?
  • “I wasn’t using the super stuff and I could hear your heartbeat” - Clark
  • Omg is Lana going to go with Sam Lane to the concert?
    • Way off on this one. I really thought she was going to take Chrissy and then Sam
    • If they were just going to have a dance party at home, why not go to the concert?

Forever and Always - “Clark’s The Best"08 May 202300:27:02

This week the pals share their support for the WGA strike, Henry reveals some exciting news about Bitsie Tulloch and they cover this very good episode from top to bottom!

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Fan Expo Chicago August 2023:

Henry's going to meet BITSIE!!!!!

Writer’s Strike:

Has production finished on S&L? I assume writing has finished?

From TV Line: “By and large, ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW won’t exhibit any immediate impact from the strike as the regular TV season winds down and already-scripted finales are filmed — albeit without any last-minute tweaks. Among the shows/seasons yet to premiere and those with summertime finale dates, Nancy Drew completed filming its upcoming farewell season in December, Riverdale‘s final-season scripts are all completed, Superman & Lois is wrapped on Season 3, NBC’s The Blacklist wrapped its series finale on May 1, and NBC’s L.A. Fire & Rescue docuseries from Dick Wolf remains on track for its July 7 debut.”

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 7

S03E7 - Forever and Always

Directed by:

Alvaro Ron

Written By:

Adam Mallinger

IMDB & Apple TV: Lois and Clark dig deeper on Bruno Mannheim, starting with his connections to Hob's Bay Medical Center; Jonathan and Jordan panic at home over Lois' dire diagnosis; Matteo comes to Smallville to meet John Henry.

HENRY's NOTES:

Superman stuff

  • Wait wait wait. Clark has the potential to share Kryptonian tech but doesn’t? Is this like a Wakanda Vibranium thing?
  • No Superman in this episode

Manheim Investigation

  • Ohhhhh, so Mannheim is Peia’s husband. Love that.
  • So Mannheim and his wife have got a little Romeo and Juliet thing with her being a part of another family.
  • “Little Aces,” is that supposed to be Ace of Clubs?
  • Classic Lois, blowing the one friendship she made in service of the story. She ain’t in it to make friends
  • “I’m questioning her like she’s a part of some conspiracy.” SHE IS. Lois is still the best.
  • I love the idea that Clark will get to Mannheim by going through a human interest angle. The kind of stuff he writes - features.
  • Clark: “How far would you go to cure this disease?” Bruno: “You tell me Mr. Kent, how far would you go to save her?”
  • “Isn’t risking a few lives for a breakthrough that could save millions worth it?” Classic villainy.
  • Clark reels him like A Few Good Men. Mannheim gave it right away with his anger, and Clark knew that it was personal.
  • It actually makes Lois and Clark’s investigation better by knowing Peia is Mannheim’s wife
  • “Now you know the truth. Do what you want with it.” -Mannheim
  • We need to see Mannheim do something completely dastardly.
  • OH SHIT PEIA HAD POWERS ALL ALONG! SHE FUCKING MURDERED EVERYONE
  • I CALLED THAT MATTEO WAS A MANNHEIM!

Cancer stuff

  • Oh god. Here comes the Lois-is-sick stuff to kick off the episode. I hate this. Although it’s nice seeing Clark not wearing his glasses inside the house for a change.
  • “Clark’s the best” - Lois
  • Boys busted at the fortress. Poor kids. Jonathan’s turn to act like a little prick. Clark with the, “do YOU UNDERSTAND ME! DO YOU?!”
  • Lois proving your point about the new Jonathan looking more like Jordan
  • Lois is admitting she has no friends is spot on for her character. Have you ever seen Lois with a true friend in her 85 years of existence?
  • “Clark’s not great on the grill, but he makes a decent burger” - Why is Clark not being good on a grill, a thing?
  • Haha, they can’t say “Fuck Cancer” on network tv.
  • Great call from Jonathan that Hope doesn’t cure heart attack, stroke and cancer. That was a good scene

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • John Henry - “I’m a cool dad”
  • What’s John Henry being weird about?
    • I guess I can relate a little bit like when I see one of my kids playing with a really wild kid at school, I’m suspicious.
  • Nice seeing there’s a line for the local movie theater
  • “You are perfect” kiss. Cute.

Lana/Sarah/Kyle/Chrissy

  • Daaaaaamn Sarah that was COLD - “We know you already have.”
  • “She’s like 10 years younger than dad, it’s gross.” Is it?
  • Poor Chrissy, Sarah should feel bad.
  • Haha love that Chrissy brings her own candy. AND WEED GUMMIES.
  • Haha she goes to Coachella every summer.
  • I gotta say I kinda love this whole drama with Sarah/Chrissy/Lana/Kyle/John Henry/Nat/Mateo
  • Where was Kyle in this episode? Got too many lines in the last episode?
  • “Everyone’s moved on”??? Lana, you’re the one who left Kyle. Not saying you didn’t have a good reason, but you pushed everyone away. And slapped your daughter. Yep, still not over that.
  • That is some classic small town behavior, lighting fireworks. Not seen since going down to the quarry for a beer bash.

Of Sound Mind - “Lil’ Kent, The Worst Rapper In Kansas”28 Apr 202300:57:23

In this Super-sized episode, Sam and Henry celebrate Superman's 85th birthday with a discussion of what Superman means to Sam, a short take on the My Adventures with Superman teaser and a lengthy discussion of Henry's takeaways from Regal Cinema's Superman The Movie & Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut screenings. The Pals also dive into a very solid episode 6 of Superman & Lois.

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Superman’s 85th

  • Superman’s birthday was last week. Kind of a missed opportunity to have a big episode on the actual publication date.
  • What does Superman mean to you? Why do you love Superman
  • My Adventures With Superman teaser
  • My experience with seeing Superman 1&2 back to back
    • Notes from the films -
      • Glen Ford plays it as not only is he having a heart attack but he realizes he's dying. The "oh no" is saying "not now. I thought I had more time. "How long after Pa dies does Clark hear the crystal calling to him? I would've liked at least one more scene with Pa. What is ma telling Clark to remember?
      • Clark asks the one question you might ask God - Who Am I? What is my purpose? Why am I here?
      • I never noticed jimmy said " I told you one P"
      • There's something about 70s NY on film that makes Metropolis feel so important and huge
      • The double Jeopardy scene is the best first appearance period, the end. It's the perfect rescue to introduce Superman. Plane rescue - He literally saves the President on his first night.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 6

S03E6 - “Of Sound Mind”

Directed by:

Diana Valentine

Written By:

George Kitson (from what I can tell, not related to Barry Kitson

IMDB & Apple TV: Clark finds himself in uncharted territory; Lois bonds with a new friend; Superman pays Bruno Mannheim a surprise visit; Lana puts Sarah in charge while she's away at a meeting with Chrissy.

Henry's Notes:

Superman stuff

  • Deadline died
  • Traces of X K and Superman’s blood
  • Onomatopoeia speaks!
  • Jordan training, beat all these guys
    • Equus is a fictional comic book supervillain, a cyborg mercenary in the DC Comics universe who serves as an opponent of Superman.[1] Created by writer Brian Azzarello and artist Jim Lee, he first appeared in Superman (vol. 2) #206, which was published in June 2004 as part of the "For Tomorrow" storyline.
    • Mechano-Man - All Star Superman #10
    • Atomic Skull
    • I love the video game that Jordan has to play. Bizarro plus Atomic Skull - double jeopardy for Jordan
    • Really fun seeing Atomic Skull in action
    • Jordan, “I can do this all day” ok Cap.
  • Dumb Jordan/Clark fight. Jordan’s gotta know his role.
  • “I have Superman to learn from”
  • Ooooh Onomatopoeia can mimic other people’s voices? Interesting power.
  • How is Superman resisting Kryptonite???
  • “Go save your father” He’s wearing his new costume!
  • That was really intense! How did Superman defeat them? Did Jordan help? Would Superman have defeated them anyway?
  • I knew Jordan would be Kryptonite-resistant

Manheim Investigation

  • Nurse: “Mr. Manheim wishes you well in your article”
  • Patient - “What’s your angle?”
  • What if this isn’t about Powers, but trying to keep these guys alive.
  • Cancer patient is talking about Manheim’s accomplishments that helped her and Suicide Slums
  • Nice misdirection with the cancer patient being Onomatopoeia. Is she Manheim’s sister? Did you see that coming, Sam?

Cancer stuff

  • Really nice seeing Clark in a support group. Even Superman needs emotional help. “Wasn’t for me” - hmmmmm
  • Nurse: “Mr. Manheim wishes you well in your article”
  • Patient - “What’s your angle?”
  • Estate planning. If they haven’t done life insurance yet, then they’re fucked. No Life Insurance company would take her at this point. Clark is in super denial mode.
  • This episode is about Clark’s pain, fear and lack of control.
  • “For the first time I can’t keep you safe. I feel really powerless”
  • Yep, I’m crying. Thanks Tyler and Bitsie.
  • I knew the episode would end with Clark coming back to the group. Not mad about it but that was telegraphed. “So that’s why I’m here. To ask for help.” - Clark

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • “Rusty”
  • “You look like a guy who made a wish to be a kid again”
  • Is Clark trying to control Jordan because he can’t control Lois’ Cancer?

Lana/Kyle/Sarah

  • Is this Sohpie’s first sighting this season?! Where has she been? Juvie?
  • OMG so awkward with Chrissy and Lana
  • I like that Chrissy and Kyle are continuing. They’re cute.
  • Sarah, “you’re chipper, it’s weird.”
  • No one is paying attention to Sophie. Maybe if she was in more episodes, they’d notice her. They freaking lost her. What the hell?
  • Boy, between the slapping and the negligence, these two are really parents of the year
  • Sad, sad Sophie at the abandoned fair. That is bleak. Sophie’s character arc is going away, then when they need a story for the Cushings, they bring her back.
  • Haha, nice reference to Burger Time.
  • Kyle and Chrissy going steady, cute.

Head On - “I’m Just Here To Support You Pumpkin”16 Apr 202300:30:01

Back to back episodes this week as Henry and Sam discuss Bizarro's return, Jesus and Mary Chain, and Professor Sam breaks a big scoop in figuring out where in Kansas, Smallville is!

EPISODE 5: Head On - “I’m just here to support you pumpkin”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome BACK to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 5

S03E5 - “Head On”

Directed by: David Ramsey

Written By:

Andrew N. Wong

IMDB & Apple TV: Clark and General Lane are both having a hard time giving Lois room to make her own decisions; Lana and Sarah have a run-in with an old friend at the diner; Natalie has a surprise visitor.

Superman stuff

  • Is Superman in this episode? There he is with 10:25 to go.
  • Seems like there’s maybe too much Kryptonie available? I like when it’s a big deal that someone gets it.
  • Villain reminds me of “Loophole” aka Deacon Dickson from my favorite issue of Superman - Adventures of Superman #505.
  • YES BIZARRO!

Manheim Investigation

  • Lois is so badass for doing the investigating while getting her treatment.
  • Is that a different villain with phasing powers?
  • Chrissy is sporting an RGB collar!
  • WHOA! Lois was busted by Manheim right away!!!!
  • I like Manheim showing Lois is human side and not just locking her in a room

Cancer stuff

  • Round 2
  • “I’m just here to support you pumpkin, anyway I can” - Sam
  • Very moving montage which seemed to have a sense of realism to it.
  • The piano intro is also very moving
  • Clark talking to the chemo patients. This is really classic Clark Kent stuff. Connecting with the people of Metropolis. Truly a man of the people.

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • Jonathan/Kyle…interesting. Can a High Schooler work at a fire station? According to the law, no. What’s wrong with a kid wanting to have his weekends free Kyle? Also, why does Jonathan want to do it? Is it cuz he wants to help like his brother?
  • Ok Nat.
  • Lol Sam Lane online dating
  • Very cute sitcom ending

Lana/Kyle/Sarah

  • Mayor Dean confronting Lana is rough. Some stop the steal vibes, eh?
  • Do we care about the dance and about Lana’s tough time?
  • Kyle and Chrissy went to HS at different times.  How different? They seem around the same age. Also, WHY IS THE EDITOR OF THE TOWN PAPER CHAPERONING A SCHOOL DANCE?
  • Oh god, this is hard to watch - Kyle, please stop. Is Kyle from the 80s or the 90s? The actor is 43, and she’s 33
  • Uh oh Sarah, getting into the hard alcohol. Mayor Dean’s son looks like he’s 40.
  • Can Chrissy keep a secret? I mean isn’t she a journalist

Too Close To Home - “Damn Kent!”16 Apr 202300:24:00

EPISODE 4: Too Close To Home - “Damn Kent!”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome BACK to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 4

S03E4 - “Too Close To Home”

Directed by: Stewart Hendler

Written By:

Juliana James

IMDB & Apple TV: Lois interrupts an intense conversation between Clark and John Henry; Kyle tries to run interference between Sarah and Lana; Jonathan has a heated discussion with Candice's dad.

Superman stuff

  • Superman + Fire always looks good. Really thought this looked like Superman The Movie when he was lifting up the earth underground.
  • Superman’s blood - burn that shit. Love it.

Manheim Investigation

  • Why is John Henry mad about his doppleganger’s involvement in the Manheim investigation and why doesn’t he want Clark and Lois to investigate it?
  • John Henry keeps calling the Dr. his “sister” but it’s not his sister
  • Awkward intro to his “sister!”
  • Seems like Darlene might be around for a while!
    • So in the comics, Natasha is John Henry’s niece, daughter of Clay Irons who is Steel’s younger brother and his enemy.
  • STEEL SUIT!
  • It’s cool that Manheim is Steel’s arch nemesis. Since Manheim is Lois’ “white whale” there should be some dramatic Lois/John Henry stuff.

Cancer stuff/Clark and Lois

  • Clark listens in on Lois. I’m ok on that
  • Isn’t investigating part of the way Lois relaxes?
  • I like seeing Clark and Lois binge stuff but they don’t have time for that shit.
  • I love that Lois can solve a crime show in like the first scene
  • Good talk between Clark and Lois. I love them
  • “Men like you don’t scare me” - Go Lois Go!
  • Oof, I don’t like seeing Lois like that
  • “This is not a Job for Superman. He’s not going”
  • BIG Superman II reference in that diner. One of the more controversial Superman things (he gets revenge), but it’s one of my favorites.
  • I love badass Clark. That was awesome. “Damn Kent!” - Kyle
  • Lois leveraging her chemo into a secret investigation might be the most badass Lois Lane move of all time.

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • Haha, boys fighting over a sweater. So stupid but kids fight over that kind of shit. “Idiot. Dumbass”
  • Sarah has an oppressively annoying ringtone
  • I would love to see Jordan drop Candice’s dead from a roof
  • YES! CUT THAT HAIR JORDAN - Can Jordan’s hair be cut?
  • I like hearing Sam say, “that hurt my feelings”
  • Jordan’s new costume is a reference to Superman: Man of Tomorrow - animated film https://www.cbr.com/man-of-tomorrow-clip-supermans-first-costume/

Lana/Kyle/Sarah

  • Ooof, Kyle didn’t know about the slap. Yikes.
  • I honestly don’t care what Sarah said to Lana. The slap was out of line, period the end. Kyle’s right that she shouldn’t weaponize his affair but kids stay stupid, hurtful stuff. Doesn’t give you the right to hit them.
  • Sarah is sitting in the diner listening to her headphones while

A Sharped Dressed Man - “They Are A Little Sweaty”25 Nov 202400:40:02

EPISODE 8 - A Sharped Dressed Man - “They Are A Little Sweaty”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 8 - A Sharp Dressed Man

Directed by:

Michael Kudlitz (Lex Luthor)

Written By:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

Luthor challenges Lois to a live telecast debate, though not everything is as it seems; John Henry and Clark face a troubling possibility.

Henry's Notes:

  • Luthor doing an interview, fitted for suit and CLEAN SHAVEN. He looks like Lex Luthor. Great reveal
  • Milton reference again.
  • “After today the whole world will be on your side” with a Luthor smile
  • So the DOD hangs out at his house which is different than usual?
  • So now Clark doesn’t wear the glasses and I miss it!
  • Cancer call back. “They are a little sweaty”
    • This is really good. Not just pretending this story never happened. THis is what really happens in families dealing with Cancer.
    • YAY!!! Lois is Cancer free. BAZOOMBAS is back!
  • Why haven’t Nat and John Henry cleaned up their bunker?
  • Yes! Steel covering for Superman. That’s how it’s supposed to go! I love seeing Steel not just blast things but actually rescue someone.
  • TOM CAVANAGH IS G GORDON GODFREY!!!!!!
    • This is amazing. My absolute favorite guy.
  • This is great that Luthor is going on tv and spinning/lying. This is so classic. I love this. Oh my god, even spinning why he brought Lexcorp to Smallville.
  • Clark is right trying to get Lois not take the bait. I like that he had a solution and not just a don’t do it. “Let’s go to the office”
  • “Now that everybody knows I can fly”
  • Candice broke up with Jonathan and my reaction was “haha good.”
    • While I don’t care that much about Candice, the reason she broke up with Jonathan makes sense. But I definitely don’t care about a rom-com last second confession of love
    • “I’m the Costanza of relationships”
  • So Amanda is in love with Lex. There’s precedence for unrequited love with Lex. I’m dying to know who MILTON is. At this point they won’t stop talking about Milton.
  • “Feels like we’re working in a fishbowl”
  • What do you think about Lois’ thing being not only the spelling thing but she swears in her writing?
  • “We flew here together”
  • Interesting that Clark is losing his hearing.
    • Do you think the series will end with Clark losing all his powers, being a regular guy and the boys taking over?
    • Oh that’s really interesting that he has heart disease.
    • Clark now has basically what Lois had last season.
  • Is Luthor just absolutely disgusted with humanity? Or does he have some heightened senses or something? His spidey sense is tingling.
  • Do Lois and Amanda have history?
  • Love hearing Tom Cavanagh say, “Superman, Superman”
    • I love that he did the glasses bit.
  • Lois is on defense, this is a set up duh.
  • “I think the circumstances speak for themselves”
  • Why are they obsessed with Jaimie Kennedy the mid-2000s comedian who maybe also had a prank show?
  • “It’s being a carnival barker”
  • Brainiac time baby. Now we’re getting into the endgame. Will we get the full blown version? It’s kind of weird that we’ve never seen this guy before and now he’s an ultimate mastermind.
    • This is an amazing action sequence. Love the heat vision from both sides. That was nuts
  • Superman keeps his wedding ring on now. Nice touch.
  • Confirmed and canonical in this show that the ONLY way they got news about Superman was from Lois?
  • Damn, Godfrey just made an enemy in Lois Lane.
  • Sexy Lexy
  • Lex Luthor ISN’T a computer genius
  • “Mr. Gorman from our world” - That’s a GUS GORMAN reference from Superman III. God I love this show.
  • So Superman, is “terminal.”
    • Great shot of the family together at the table
  • If Milton is going to be taken seriously, we’ve gotta get some back story and motivation.
  • “Now that’s a killer suit” - they better paint it green and purple otherwise what’s the point.
  • Is Superman dying or is it that his powers are failing?

In Cold Blood - “That Is Not How Priorities Work”03 Apr 202300:36:24

Sam and Henry fear they won't have much to talk about in this short and sweet episode, but as it turned out there's plenty of comic references, location searches, Bitsie love, big Henry feelings, and some signature Sam voice of reason action!

Greetings Super friends! Welcome BACK to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 3, Episode 3

S03E3 - “Uncontrollable Forces”

Directed by: Gregory Smith

Written By:

Jai Jamison

IMDB & Apple TV: Lois and Chrissy pursue a new lead in the Mannheim investigation against Clark's wishes. Meanwhile, Jonathan, Jordan, and Nat's attempt at a kind gesture is complicated by an unexpected obstacle. Lastly, Lana, Sarah, and Kyle adjust to their own new normal.

HENRY'S NOTES:

Superman stuff/Manheim Investigation

  • Great dream sequence - good symbolism with Clark not being able to save her.
  • The address on the Daily Planet is 1980. Any meaning there? Superman II? I wonder what street the Daily Planet is on. In Doomsday Clock #7 it’s revealed that The Daily Planet, is at 2525 Broadway, Metropolis, NY 10025
  • So Superman is having the same dream over and over again. Weird because he doesn’t need to sleep.
  • Haha Lois’ bad handwriting. Is that ok? Or do you not like that like the spelling thing?
  • “Aleister Hook” is Skyhook! Remember Skyhook from the Byrne era? Superman #15. Demon that stole children and turned them into demons!
  • Bruno Manheim is Lois’ white whale? Whoa. That’s kind of a huge revelation.
  • Room full of blood lol
  • Can Superman hear through lead or is there anything that Superman can’t hear through? I mean I know they dampen powers all the time.
  • “SUPERMAAAAAN!” I love that shit. That’s when a good smashy smash entrance is perfect. Ack! Kryptonite blasters!
  • STEEL to the rescue!
  • Kryptonian cloning stuff? I’m into it.

Cancer stuff

  • Love Lois’ glasses. Hard to watch this montage of telling all of her loved ones but good to see Lois being so strong. Tracks with her character. Really powerful seeing Sam be so affected. I like some depth to his character.
  • Good to see Lois and Lucy are talking.
  • Is Sam right or wrong in getting on Lois about going to her appointments?
  • Clark: “Let me help you.” He’s right but he’s gotta let her do her thing.
  • Why do Clark and Lois need to drive to the hospital?

Twins, Sarah, Nat, John Henry

  • Mom has cancer so the boys made breakfast. Nice job kids
  • Haha at first I thought Sarah was using a replicator.
  • Glad to see Jonathan’s girlfriend is doing good honest work. Wait so Jonathan has 2 girlfriends now?
  • Wait, who attacked John Henry? I’m drawing a blank.
  • Does John Henry not want to get involved with helping Lois because it’s too weird, too close to “home?”
  • Haha why is Candice’s dad so weird? Relax Candice. CW nonsense….
  • Yessss Nat in the suit!
  • Nice job Jonathan!
  • Nice to see Candice come around. Her dad is a piece of shit.

Lana/Kyle

  • Jesus Lana, dial it back a bit. Is what Kyle did so bad?
  • Lana is out of control. She’s gotta chill. The slap. Oy vey. Not good. Why do they always do that on tv? The mom slapping the kid then immediately regretting it? Didn’t Lois do that to Jonathan too? I hate that trope. No adults hitting their kids please. Shuuuuuut uuuuuup Lana.
  • Oooh Chrissy and Kyle connecting. I’d ship them.

EPISODE 2: Uncontrollable Forces - “I Can Shave Hours Off Your Commute”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome BACK to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Shazam/Black Adam news

Titans news

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 3 Episode 2

S03E2 - “Uncontrollable Forces”

Directed by: Elizabeth Henstridge

Written By:

Katie Aldrin

IMDB and Apple TV: Clark and Chrissy notice a small crack in Lois' game face; Sarah and Jordan have an awkward encounter; Lana receives a panicked phone call.

  • Lois Cancer Stuff
    • I don’t think I’m emotionally prepared to handle a Lois Lane illness portrayed by Bitsie. She’s too good of an actress, it’s going to wreck me.
    • Why didn’t Lois tell Clark about her health? That doesn’t seem realistic.
    • Clark is being very supportive as usual
    • Fuck, Cancer. I don’t want this. This fucking sucks. I have this personal thing about tv. I don’t want to see real shit. I want to escape into a fantasy.
      • “I was a little shocked when [the producers] first told me that’s what they wanted to do,” actress Elizabeth Tulloch tells TVLine. “But I actually think it’s pretty wonderful. This storyline hasn’t been done, and cancer is such a prevalent force in so many people’s lives. This villain is so relatable and so real, and more than anything it’s one that Clark and Superman can’t just go handle. For Superman, who is this all-powerful superhero, to be faced with something he’s completely powerless against is even more grounding for the show, and it places a greater emphasis on the strength of us as a couple and the family dynamic. I thought it was exciting, and I hope the fans feel the same way.”
      • “We reached out to so many people — doctors, oncologists, people who had been through it, spouses who have been through it, families that have been through it,” Fletcher tells TVLine. “All of our scripts have been vetted to make sure that it’s playing real, because we don’t want it to be taken lightly. We want to put Lois on a real journey that so many other women in the world are going through. Hopefully they can take solace in seeing that a character as iconic as Lois Lane is suffering the same thing, and to feel like they have someone to relate to. We thought long and hard about it, and we felt like we had something to say.” Fletcher expects fans to be surprised at how “in-depth” the show goes with Lois’ cancer battle without shifting the show’s established tone. “We’re not going to despair and darkness all the time,” he says. “We have a very hopeful family, and we hold onto that, but we’re never telling the audience that the threat isn’t real.” “It’s our arc for the season,” he adds. “It’s our villain for the season, to be honest.”
  • Wait, why couldn’t she give a full family history because of her mom?
  • “I promise I will never look at you any other way. We will get through this together. You’re gonna beat this thing, not a doubt in my mind”

  • The kid stuff
    • Sorry, Jordan is now just being pathetic and desperate. Give it up kid. But Sarah is very nice and loved that she gave him her oversized shirt
    • Party in Metropolis! Woooo!!! Now we’re seeing a little bit of Jonathan's “bad-boy" persona. I like it. “Fraternals Right?”
    • Ok what part of Metropolis is this?! Is this the suburbs? Gold Coast-ish?
    • Why was she annoyed he brought his TWIN BROTHER?Poor Jordan. He’s got the whole clumsy Clark thing but not on purpose.
    • Get it Nat!
    • SARAH’S WEARING A BOB DYLAN I WANT YOU 1966 SHIRT!
      • I Want You is the first track on side 2 of disc one on 1966’s Blonde on Blonde.
      • Obviously I’ve been searching for the shirt.
      • @msdylangirl on twitter found it!
    • This party is terrible. Get out of there kids! Just leave!
  • Clark and Lois
    • Love the little Clark/Lois reporter dynamic
    • “Do you think Harry has that early bird special” - Clark
    • Clark listens to her heartbeat to see if she’s lying.
    • “Get your hands off me! Don’t Touch me!” - Very Margo Kidder vibes
    • “We’re a team, best one I know”
    • I love that Lois was the one to talk her down, not Superman saving her
  • Manheim
    • So it looks like Otomotopia’s powers are sonic based and have changed a bit from the comics
    • George said, “It was always about the pride of Smallville”
    • Shotgun wounds but no bullets
    • We’re just hearing now about George Jr?
    • Who’s Mr. Orr?
    • Very Luthor vibes from S:TAS calling Superman to his balcony
    • “The Suicide Slums” - not an official neighborhood, but a nickname, which I think it always was but now Manheim has gentrified it? Nice callback to Luthor and Edge.
    • Lana and John Henry are a fun team. One of the few good things that came out of New 52.
    • Oh cool Onomatopoeia killed this earth’s John Henry
    • Nice seeing Chicago’s “L”

Closer - “They’re Gonna Have to Wait. Yeah.”17 Mar 202300:48:59

Closer -  “They’re Gonna Have to Wait.” Yeah”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome BACK to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

How was your Superman Summer? And fall? And winter? It’s weird how in my kishkes, shows feel like they should be on September to May. Anyway did you do or read anything Supermany? Lots of comic news. Superman Warwold came to an end and the Dawn of DC began. Phillip Kennedy Johnson is doing a great job with Superman. Movie news, Cavill in, then out, Gunn takes over DC then announces he’s writing and directing Superman Legacy. And here on the CW, Superman and Lois’ future is in question as DC shows are going away…

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 3 Episode 1

S02E15 - “Closer”

Directed by: Tom Cavanaugh

Written By:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

IMDB: Jordan and Jonathan celebrate their 16th birthdays, Sam reaches out to Natalie with poor results, Chrissy ends up with a surprising bed partner, Lois gets some surprising news, and Atom-Man returns posing a new threat to Superman, as does Bruno Mannheim.

  • VERY horny episode - L and C AND Christy and Kyle
    • Love seeing this so much more than horny teens
  • New fortress seems a lot like the old fortress but LOVE that Jordan has to fight Superman’s Rogue’s Gallery. Atomic Skull!
  • Bruno Manheim - Sam give us a character bio and where does Manheim rank as all time Superman villain? Top 10? Top 20?
  • ONOMATOPOEIA
  • Atom Man, we saw him in the flashback with Superman in the Fleischer suit, but here he was kinda sympathetic Nazi? Don’t love that. I hope this isn’t a one off with him. He’s too good of a villain.
  • Teens were much less annoying but honestly I still don’t care about Sarah and Jordan
  • Lana was fine in this episode. Seems like she’s finding her comfort zone
  • The whole Sam Lane with Natalie thing is dumb. Every grandparent I know are nice and cordial and even welcoming to their grandkids’ friends, but I don’t know a single one that would rather spend time with them instead of their own grandchildren. Was it so bad what Sam Lane did? Recruiting Natalie? That’s his world AND she is super smart.
  • METROPOLIS - I wanted it, I got it.
  • More reporting! A little awk that it’s just the three of them writing at this small town newspaper
    • Great seeing them working together but why is the Smallville Gazette reporting on huge national news? Why isn’t this just Lois Lane Dot Com?
  • Coach Gaines - why is he so crabby all the time? Also a funny edit where it looked like he put a rib bone in his pocket.
  • Bitsie just gets better and better, so does Tyler.
    • It’s great seeing her play happy too. I’m so nervous for what’s going to separate them.
  • Suicide Slum? What about it? Bibbo?

“There’s a lot Easter eggs this season,” Helbing adds. “ A lot.”

Waiting for Superman - "It’s Dad, It’s Clark, It’s Superman"13 Jul 202201:00:43

We bring you a super-sized episode for the Season 2 Final!  We kick things off with some show and tell of some new Super-goodies (shout out to Jim Bowers @capedwonderjim)! We're talking about the vacuum of space, throwing sh** into the sun, Tal-Ro's redemption, what we want to see in Season 3 and so much more!

EPISODE 15 ““It’s Dad, It’s Clark, It’s Superman””

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 15

S02E15 - “Waiting for Superman”

Directed by:

Gregory Smith

Written By:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

Chrissy Beppo (Sofia Hasmik), with the authorization of the Department of Defense, has a message for the people of Smallville: not only is the merging of planets real, it is happening.

HENRY'S NOTES:

DOD officially declaring what’s happening. Reference to “Bizarro self.” Why is Christy Beppo making this announcement?

Lois used the word “blip” - Kevin Feige sending his Disney lawyers after them?

This makes sense that Nat is having PTSD from losing her world.

Oooh the Loises switched. “Our Bizarro Mom just magically appeared.”

Jon saying “You’re our family too” and Nat responded with a hug and “I really liked having brothers” is the kind of emotional beat stuff that make the show good. The faux conflicts are not.

People disappearing and cars crashing is very reminiscent of Infinity War. Is it too derivative?

Tal Ro - “I’m fighting for you. You and your family are the only people that matter to me on this planet” followed by a bro hug. Chef’s kiss.

Jordan, close your goddamn mouth while you’re in space. “You saved my life nephew, i’m forever in your debt”

“There’s still one person that can stop her, me”

YES!!! LOVE WHEN SUPERMAN THROWS SHIT INTO THE SUN!!! Love that he’s getting thrown into it.

Hahaha why is Nat’s AI german? “Frau Irons”

HOW ARE SUPERMAN AND TAL-RO TALKING IN OUTER SPACE?!!!!! That’s as ridiculous as Superman IV. Nice that Clark says, “I love you too” though.

Who are all these people who are like, waiting for the rapture? Are the people of Bizarro Smallville super religious?

So one throw away line from Sam confirmed that this is not in the Arrowverse - “and even though we only have your father on this planet.” That’s fine but I wish they would’ve told us earlier so we didn’t waste time and energy getting upset about it.

I love seeing superman being burned alive while also supercharged up by the sun. Reminds me of Superman #1,000,000.

“It’s Dad, It’s Clark, It’s Superman” -

Overloading the parasite is a classic Superman move.

He’s circling the Earths! Like superman the movie!!!!!

Love his Supercharged S shield.

I don’t get the physics of how he did what he did but I like it.

Miracle Monday! A reference to both the Elliot S Maggin novel and the day in which Superman saved the world. “Truth Justice and a Better Tomorrow”

Oh come on Lois. Now Crissy Beppo knows the secret? Jesus.

Love a good Superman festival in Smallville and so cute that kids were cosplaying as Nat and John Henry.

Nat and John Henry eating Rhubarb pie, Martha’s specialty

“With you around, always” - Lois in response to “are you ok?”

Kyle’s babyface from heel turn was done so smoothly and so well over the past two seasons.

“I wish everyone could be as happy as i am”

You never stop trying to help people do you? I love you Superman”

Why are Ally and Bizarro Ally in the same cell?

Uncle Tal buying F-150s for the nephews is amazing. Love that he went to Bizarro world to be their hero.

BRUNO MANHEIM - INTERGANG!!!!!! Let’s have a season of Clark investigating them.

Lucy and Lois made up, which is nice. I wonder where she’s going.

Clark is finally not wearing his glasses with the family and I love his Chris Evans, Knives Out sweater.

Throwing a crystal to make the fortress is very reminiscent of Superman The Movie AND doing it in the ocean is like the comics. Love it all. “It’s only the beginning.”

Worlds War Bizarre - "You Are More Than Just Your Powers”25 Jun 202200:39:37

EPISODE 14 “You Are More Than Just Your Powers”

The penultimate episode of Season 2 is upon us! Sam and Henry pay tribute to the late, grate artist Tim Sale. The Pals share a lot of frustrations with some things they liked sprinkled in. Also some signature tangents about TV trends and still wondering where is Supergirl???

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 14

S02E14 - “Worlds War Bizarre”

Directed by:

Sheelin Choksey

Written By:

Michael Narducci

"Superman is rendered powerless by Ally's attack, and the others rally as the two Earths merge."

Romantic violin version of the theme over the title screen

John Henry/Nat - Ally is an energy parasite, can absorb power from anything. Nat being assertive of going in there with John Henry. Love it. Ugh, I’m with Nat, “Dad don’t do this.” LET HER HELP. Nat could definitely get through those safeguards. So John Henry was right that Nat shouldn’t come but not for the right reasons. She obviously needed to save everyone but she could’ve helped him.

Lana - “This is what tired looks like”, um Lana you look amazing. Smallvillians riled up again. They’re so cartoony. Nice to hear Kyle and Lana finally talk about his infidelity. Why are the Smallvillians laughing at Lana. They literally went through an army of Kryptonians attacking them last season. Obnoxious George is back. Lol to “you’re flying in and saving the day.” Lana did you fucking tell everyone Superman lost his powers? What the fuck Lana?! That’s not your call to make. Great now Sarah is going to be mad at Lana. More CW nonsense.

Lois/Chrissy- Bizarro world taking over, text was backwards.

Ally/Inverse - Wait was Bizarro Lana doing with her eyes?

Lara - Cells not healed? Sam explain please. He’s like a baby again? Developed powers at 4! How is Lara’s projection being affected by the merge? Isn’t it Kryptonian technology?

Clark - Why does he need to wear his glasses all the time when he’s Clark? Is it just a visual cue, a marketing thing? Seriously, it doesn't make sense. Why does he need to wear his glasses in the fortress with John Henry and Lara? We talked about this in the first episode. The kids never saw their dad without glasses?

Incredible Lois pep-talk to Clark and frankly to US, reminding him what Superman means.  Superman is a “Friend”

Jordan/Jonathan - Kids, suit up and do your job. Blah blah Sarah/Jordan blah blah. Well now Sarah knows. Nice angry red eyes of anger Jordan. Ok that fight was awesome.

All Is Lost - “I Used To Call It The Kessel Run”17 Jun 202200:50:01

So much to cover on this one! We celebrate Professor Sam's birthday coinciding with Superman day, disliking comic book annuals,  Lana giving Jordan a verbal thrashing, Ally owning Lucy's mind, Clark's new job prospects, Jordan's flight school, Alanis Morsette and Kessel run being the same joke, Batman 66 reference, Nat and John Henry's unnecessary CW conflict, our wish list for finale/cliffhanger and to close it out a long tangent about the state of TV watching.

EPISODE  13 “I Used To Call It The Kessel Run.”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Happy Birthday Sam! Did you know that your birthday is one day before the official “Superman Day?” Officially, June 12 is considered Superman Day.

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 13

S02E13 - “All Is Lost”

Directed by:

Elaine Mongeon

Written By:

Kristi Korzec

iTunes recap: Clark and Lois disagree on the best way to figure out if Ally Allston went to the Inverse World. Meanwhile, John Henry makes a surprising discovery and Lois sets out to track Lucy down.

HENRY'S NOTES:

Lois/Chrissy

Is Clark wanting to work at the Smallville Gazette just a backup story or is it for real? It would make sense that Clark wants to start reporting again but he’s never mentioned it.  Lol to Chrissy being the driver. Chrissy looking at Clark’s resume and not wanting to hire him? Why? Wouldn’t you want 2 Lois lanes?

Lane Family

Lane family going down together. I like it. FINALLY we see Lucy in all of her traumatic delusions. Lois bringing back all the things Lucy did to them including fucking DRUGGING HER FATHER. The way Lois sounds when she’s trying to convince Lucy that she loves her is so lectury and factual. Of course Lucy feels the way she does. “I am so sorry I ever made you feel like a burden because the truth is you were my life raft. I wouldn’t have survived my childhood without you and I still need you. You have to mean it, you have to show it. Please give me a chance to prove how much I love you.” Dangerous game Lana is playing, sharing with Kyle that she has “secrets.” Good thing Kyle is a bit of a nice dumb guy and didn’t bother following up. Sam Lane is great, and Lucy is right when she says she doesn’t deserve him.

Cushing Family

Is “who’s alanis morsette” and “what’s the kessel run?” the same joke?

Relax Lana, it’s not a big deal that Kyle took Sarah to open mic, in fact it’s really sweet.

I gotta say I was super into Lana lecturing Jordan. “Not even Superman can keep everyone safe.” Get outta here kid. And I also like that she felt bad about it. Really good acting here Emmanuelle.

Clark and the boys

Boys, relax. The Cushings are annoying. You’ve got a cooler friend/sister in Nat and fucking powers like Superman. Jon feeling guilty about his mess up and his Bizarro’s murderous spree. Good talk between Clark and Jon. “As a parent you care so much about your kids and I want to protect you but I want you to learn to make your own mistakes and that’s really hard but I will always be here when you do.” When Superman says, “it’s gonna be fine” he means it.  “I still love her, dad.” Please. But great timing to take him flying. The flying training was great because traditionally, Clark just flew and that was it. Even if it was shaky at first or he just leapt at first he then seemed to master it. Like in Man of Steel. I like the idea of Clark spending years at the Fortress just practicing flying. Btw, they could’ve picked up Jonathan, a winter coat and given him a job instead of just ditching him.

Ally Alston

The cold open “5 years ago” was interesting. It still doesn’t give us that much background in her motivations. I like that they actually reference the “LL.” It’s also huge that they make mention of being in Lois’ shadow. That’s gotta be tough. It’s cool that they low-key backdoored their way into making Ally The Parasite. Lois literally called her Parasite. I’m not mad about it, even though we made fun of it last week. I actually kind of like it. On Bizarro world Ally has completely taken over. Ally’s really good at subtly putting a wedge between Lucy and Lois. It’s cool that Ally’s doubled voice is her backwards voice behind her regular voice.

When Ally demands that she summon Superman, Lois retorts that she doesn't have a red Superman phone to contact him, likely an homage to the red "hotline" Commissioner Gordon used to get in touch with Batman in Batman (1966).

Is it consistent or inconsistent with Lucy’s character that just when she seems to be coming around she goes full super-villain.

I guess the parasite thing is slightly different because she doesn’t need to touch people.

Scary seeing Superman turn into Bizarro. How does her Parasite powers let her stop a hammer from hitting her?

Nat and John Henry Irons

Nat is smart enough to make a fucking secret Iron Man suit but didn’t think. John’s overreaction to Nat’s suit is both realistic but in the context of the show is kind of dumb. She’s clearly an asset and I’m glad that John Henry came to his senses eventually. “I build things, not destroy them.” The conflict was very CW episodey. But it's very cool that Nat’s tech is superior. “Agro dad.” I’m so sick of them over-using that term. Do teenagers really talk like that? Very nice resolution by John Henry and not taking things personally. Nice turn of events that Nat gets to save Superman. I think we called that earlier on. Why didn’t they try throwing Superman into the Sun?

What’s next?

What if the Earths merging isn’t bad? What if it like brings the best out in everyone?

I would love to see a cliffhanger where Superman loses all of his powers and Jordan, the Ironses and Jonathan suit up to take over. Next season can pick things up 3 months later with Clark having a summer as a regular guy.

Lies That Bind - "They Weren’t Just Flowers, They Were Peonies”03 Jun 202200:42:15

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Another long hiatus in the books (hopefully the last one) as the Pals are back to talk Episode 12. We open the show talking about Sam's rewatch of Superman IV The Quest For Peace. How did it stack up with Sam's Superman III rewatch? Both Pals are over Lana being mad about "the secret." Is the secret even a big deal? Is Ally the Parasite? Sam and Henry both loved the kids forming their own little Scooby gang and want to see more!

HENRY'S NOTES:

EPISODE  12 - “They Weren’t Just Flowers, They Were Peonies”

Superman IV - Thoughts?

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 12

S02E12 - “Lies That Bind”

Directed by:

David Mahmoudieh

Writing Credits:

Rina Mimoun

We pick up right where we left off with Clark levitating in front of Lana. Meanwhile, Jordan and Jonathan question whether Lois and Clark are telling them the complete story. Lastly, Natalie tries her best to get Sarah to acknowledge Jordan.

The Lana Stuff - Lana asking the obvious question right off the bat, “How did people not put this together” and Clark having a great response for the age old question - “People see what they want to see.”

“After saving you and Pete that night” - confirmation of Pete Ross’ existence. Also reminiscent of the famous Dan Jurgens’ story from Adventures of Superman #474 about drunk driving.

“Did you ever love me?” I mean yeah in the way that a 14 year old loves his girlfriend aka JORDAN AND SARAH. Sorry, Lana has NO reason to be mad. This is contrived.

Now she’s mad at Lois? Oh please. I mean I get it, they are lying but it’s too protect everyone. Lol to Lana BREAKING UP with the Kent-Lanes.

The Kids - Finally the boys with Nat IN school…and I guess out of school. What happened to Jon-El’s S shield.

SUIT!!!!! FINALLY!!!! How do we feel about Nat giving her suit to a boy? Love the kids being a scooby gang searching the caverns. Love that Jordan saved them and that they were all sitting around laughing about it. This is a good team that I wish had come together sooner. It was nice not seeing Nat so crabby.

Awwwww - Kyle! What a sweet dad, making an open mic night for Sarah. LOVE THIS. Huge babyface turn for this guy. Who actually wrote that song? Didn’t see it in the credits.

Tal-Rho - Do we trust him? Or do we smell another double cross? I like the idea of redemption because Superman trusts him.

Does yelling while doing heat vision help? Did it hurt?

Ally - She can siphon powers? Cool action scene. Fun that she’s a god now but like, still what are her motivations?

Truth and Consequences - “You’re My Son and I Love You”19 May 202200:31:49

In this episode Sam and Henry talk about Superman's "Secret." Does he need it? Does it matter? We also cover Sam's trouble buying comics, how many DC Crises do we need? Are Lana and Clark actually best friends? What are Ally Alston's motivations and thoughts? We also have some drops from Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld and Superman The Movie in there. Shout outs to Motor City Comic-Con, the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, IL and more!

S02E11 - “Truth and Consequences”

Directed by:

David Ramsey (Arrow)

Writing Credits:

Katie Aldrin and Jai Jamison

We pick up right where we left off with Jon-El smirking at Lois, who is still standing on the porch with Jordan. Jon-El catches sight of his doppelganger, Jonathan, standing not too far away. He lunges at him and Jordan tries to intervene but Jon-El appears to be stronger and faster than him.

Henry's Notes:

Jordan used the words “bizarro self.”

“You’re my son and I love you and I’m not going to let anything happen to you.” Clark is the best.

Do Clark and Lana have the same coat?

Is the opposite of 1 day, 33 days?

“If that’s what the secret is doing, it’s doing a crap job” - Jon

Bizarro Jonathan is chewing up the scenery, so good. Incredibly violent what he did to Lana. Could’ve killed her!

What is Sarah’s shirt? "Merchant Unite?"

Haha - Primus cover band “what’s Primus”

Jonathan looked like he was going to a rave in the Matrix - lol

Yes! Finally some John Henry and Nat science! More of this.

Love hearing Lois say, “you’re right. I’m sorry”

“NEGATIVE ZONE?!” Uh oh, Here come the Fantastic Four

It’s always confusing to me how effective and deadly kryptonite is. I never kills anyone right away.

Brother vs Brother showdown! - Final punch could’ve been bigger.

Just get the K out Lana! Jesus!

I’m feeling kinda meh about the reveal. Like it seemed like some sort of romantic gesture but that’s not the relationship they have. Nor have they really shown that Lana is Clark’s best friend. So it sort of seemed like the kids and Lois got ramped up about the secret without any sort of previous set up.

Nat and Steel - Is he going to destroy the portal?

  • Sam ranked this 5th out of 10 on his all time Batman movie list, Henry ranked it 3rd
  • The pals spend a long time talking about the virtues of "Batman The Movie (1966)," The Dark Knight, and Batman (1989)."
  • Music from films and video games!

Bizarros in a Bizarro World - "The Trips with President Seinfeld"29 Apr 202200:33:54

EPISODE  10 - "The Trips with President Seinfeld”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 10

S02E10 - “Bizarros in a Bizarro World”

Directed by:

Louis Shaw Milito

Writing Credits:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

Superman races through the portal after Ally Allston, but when he arrives on the other side, he discovers everything on this parallel earth is... bizarre. Navigating his way through deceivingly familiar faces and landscapes, Superman goes on one wild ride in his fight to stop Ally from merging.

HENRY'S NOTES:

Opening: Last time you said he was sort of creating a rock shield but I speculated that he was sort of decomposing into a Bizarro creature. Here it seemed like both? RED CUBE SUN! CUBE EARTH!!! WE GOT OUR CUBE EARTH!!!! Bizarro’s fortress - Bottled City of Kandor, Kryptonian revival suit, GIANT KEY. Superman’s costume looks great in Bizarro world. He should stay there. Superboy has a backwards Death Of Superman shirt. Is that like the most 90’s superman thing ever? Clark can figure out how to speak backwards!

Bizarro Jonathan El: There is so much Silver age silliness here, I love it. It’s actually what we talked about. Of course the opposite of “our world” is Superman and Lois are famous and there’s no Clark.  Haha, love the Bizarro Superman hand gang sign! Great superhero montage. He’s wearing Doc Martins!

Bizarro world/Superman: “Hosting the Kevins, the trips with President Seinfeld.” Wouldn’t the opposite of Clark on Bizarro world be a dad who was around for his family? Bizarro Superman is addicted to Kryptonite, loves the spotlight, very angry. Jordan has straight hair lol.

Backwards WB tower. Cube pool. Cube glasses. Espy’s - Jordan Michaels is a jerk. “Why on square earth,” Persons Magazine. Bizarro world - bride wears black. Bizarro cat is Krypto

What happened to Bizarro Superman? How did he get like that? Kryptonite? Great acting by Tyler. Love the desperation.

Bizarro Smallville Gazette is bustling with a full staff. Also 1998 Macs? Why?

Bizarro Lois: Very upsetting seeing them fight but it makes sense that their bizarro marriage sucks. Bizarro Lois “failed” as a mother.

Anderson: Wait why is he suddenly not on Ally’s side? Greaaaat, another random person know’s Clark’s identity.

Um, where’s Lucy?

TERRIFYING CLIFFHANGER

A Regular Guy - “You’d Be Surprised What A Pair Of Glasses Will Do”16 Nov 202400:30:46

EPISODE 7 - A Regular Guy - “You’d Be Surprised What A Pair Of Glasses Will Do”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 7 - A Regular Guy

Directed by:

Gregory Smith

Written By:

Katie Aldrin

George Kitson

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

After some concerning interactions in town, Clark is determined to protect the secret that he's Superman - a task complicated by Jonathan and Jordan; Lois considers the future of the Gazette after Chrissy proposes something drastic.

HENRY'S NOTES:

  • FLASHBACK TO FIRST APPEARANCE ACTION #1!!!
  • 2 Shirt rips!
  • I am here once again, saying that I don’t care about Kyle and Christy and this a waste of screentime.
  • This is weird watching Clark pretend to be hurt. I don’t like it. It’s awkward.
  • Jimmy! And his sister? I like that Jimmy asked to be “pals” of course. And great reference to the “Daily Star.” But he called him “CK”
  • Haha, “Timmy.” Where did this guy come from? Is he from last season?
    • “You’ve ruined my life kent” - really? I thought he gets to be QB because Jon isn’t doing it.
  •  I dunno, why is selling her share of the Gazette so dramatic. Seems pretty practical to me.
  • Haha Clark actually bunted. This show has everything. Clark Kent playing baseball with Jimmy Olson. It’s all I ever wanted and I’m so sad it’s over.
  • Timmy Ryan is the dumbest name
  • “Candice knows” - “YOU TOLD YOUR GIRLFRIEND!” lol
  • “Cut your dad some slack”
  • “We need the bunt king” - What do we think of this Jimmy?
  • So Jimmy figured out the secret. Ok fine. So what do we think about in this universe Clark is just either very bad at keeping the secret OR everyone is not dumb
  • Nice of Clark and Lois to buy Chrissy out and IDC
  • “Did I get knocked up by the town bully?”
  • Nice of Kyle to raise a toast to the Kents etc but he didn’t actually apologize to Clark
  • I like the mirroring of the last time Candice’s dad got fucked up in the diner by Clark.
  • Very interesting way for Superman to reveal himself to the world. I don’t know how I feel about it
    • “When Emmet fired the bullet it made me think maybe this is doing more harm than good. …It has to be a family decision.”
  • “You’ve fought aliens and stopped world’s from merging” - Crisis?
  • “I’m just a regular guy”
  • The Daily Planet won the “Metro Cup” and “Last one at Bibbowski’s picks up the tab”
  • Jimmy: “I missed you too pal”
  • This was a very well done episode with a plot that I don’t like

30 Days & 30 Nights - “How Many Times You Been Tied Up?”01 Apr 202200:34:52

Henry's notes:

Opening: Love Clark and Lois in bed. They’re my cozy mom and dad. Great shot of Superman flying out of the house over the farm. Very cool call back to Superman flying around the world in Superman The Movie. Love that he’s flying in a small circle to pick up speed. What was happening to him as he was going through? Was he breaking apart? Was he transforming into Bizarro?

Jordan: Training montage! Just needed “you’re the best around” or “eye of the tiger.” Disturbing but also comforting seeing the world struggling without Superman.

Lois/Sam/Jordan: Sorry Lois, I love you but I’m with Jordan. Chill, he has to help. It’s what Clark would do. Great voice of reason from Sam Lane. I do like that Lois is getting close to finding the dealers. Glad Jonathan finally came to his senses. It was getting silly. Really enjoy seeing Lois do her reporter getting into life threatening predicaments thing.

Jordan’s heat vision/freeze breath/knockout punch was a total video game move. The little smile, very reminiscent of Superman Returns, bullet eyeball scene. Sorry Jordan, you want to be a superhero and keep your secret, you can’t have a girlfriend. Read a comic book.

Irons Family: Steel helping out is great. Love that the news report called him “new Man of Steel?” Seems like lots of planes have engine failure in Superman/Supergirl’s universes. Also, again, where is Supergirl?

I like that Natalie can fix a super-suit and interdimensional space ship but can’t make waffles.

Natalie is mad at her dad flirting with Lana. Chill out kid. I can’t deal with her. Remember how last season I could barely stand the Cushings. This is how I feel about Natalie. I want to like her so much but instead of showing how awesome she is in the shop with her tools and tech it’s just blah blah drama with her. It’s annoying. I like John’s explanation. It’s totally reasonable. He’s entitled to move on. Having said that it was pretty upsetting seeing alternate Lois with baby Natalie and John Henry losing it.

Lana’s election: We laughed about election day coming but now that we know Superman has been gone for 1 month it makes sense. They don’t have projections on the local news? 57-43 what?

Funny to me that Coach Toxic Masculinity is supporting Lana.

Jeez, really hitting us over the head with the whole “Divorced dad sad apartment” cliche.

End: Whaaaat Superboy is Jonathan in Bizarro world because it’s the opposite of Jordan!

Into Oblivion - "I’m Here, And I’m Not Going Anywhere”26 Mar 202200:41:11

EPISODE  8 - “I’m Here, And I’m Not Going Anywhere”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Superman & Lois renewed for Season 3

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 8

S02E08 - “Into Oblivion”

Directed by:

Sudz Sutherland and Gregory Smith

Writing Credits:

Juliana James and Kristi Korzec

Lois, Clark and Natalie notice a difference in John Henry’s behavior and fear something might be very wrong. Meanwhile, Kyle encounters an awkward moment with Lana while stopping by the house to pick up Sarah for school. Lastly, Jonathan and Jordan brace themselves when they realize a “conversation” with their parents is headed their way.

Natalie’s attitude is ridiculous, even for a teen and even for this show. I can’t take it. I know she’s traumatized and triggered by seeing Clark’s face but she’s too intelligent. It’s similar to what we said about John last season. Who’s Clark’s “old friend?”

Love how Clark is just like, “ugghhhhh, I don’t wanna do this right now.” Kinda like a teenager, but I’ve definitely had those moments as a parent where you just don’t want to do things cuz they’re hard. Also, lol to Lois totally owning him on rock paper scissors. Haha “Every time.” Interesting - Clark calling out integrity while from Jon’s perspective he is upholding his integrity. Haha Jon has to go on zoom class.

Sorry I’m with Jordan here, no need to hang out with the girlfriend’s ex. It’s time for Jonathan to just tell his parents. His dad is Superman and his mom is Lois Lane. They own a huge farm. If Candice and her dad get kicked out of their home, doesn't Jon think his parents will help them?

Bizarro world! Ally tells the other self to “come here now” backwards. Didn’t bizarro ally get her head bashed in?

Lois: “Do you track my phone?”

Cool effects for the portal

“We’re the only ones that you saved?” -Christy. Is she blaming Superman? Or is she genuinely asking?

Damn, Ally’s got some Batman villain in interrogation game.

Even though I was into the storyline, the Lana stuff just doesn’t seem important right now with the Ally, Jonathan, Irons family stories on the other side.

Looooooving the bromance between John Henry and Clark

Love the Superman and Lois violin theme (from their quick history in the pilot) while Superman is hugging her.

Kick his ass Jordan! Ugh, Jordan is so predictable not showing up. CW nonsense.

Lucy just came to her senses like that? Oooooh F YOU LUCY

Anti-Hero - "He Got Caught With WHAT?!"10 Mar 202200:36:59

If you have been waiting to hear Henry and Sam share frustrations with an episode, this one is for you. Episode 7 takes a BEATING from Henry and Sam in all areas. Lois and Clark's parenting, Lt Anderson's massive villain turn, the loss of Bizarro, and why is there SO much X-K in Smallville available? Strap in, this one is going to be wild.

Tried and True - "The Fraternals"04 Mar 202200:57:35

The Pals are back this week talk about all things Superman & Lois with some other topics at the start of the show. Henry shares his initial reactions to The Batman, Sam after finally finishing the Supergirl Finale discusses his thoughts and a little bit of nit-picking at something Christy Beppo said in last weeks episode.

S02E06 - “Tried and True”

Lois tells Clark that she and Chrissy plan to do a deeper dive into the Inverse Society; and Lana and Sarah try to comfort each other after the fallout at Sarah’s quinceañera. Meanwhile, Jordan notices something suspicious in Jonathan’s book bag. Lastly, Lt. Mitch Anderson finds himself under fire for the deterioration of the Department of Defense’s relationship with Superman.

Directed by:

Amy Jo Johnson (pink ranger)

Writing Credits:

Patrick Barton Leahy

  • Bizarro world, Bizarro is a cat guy because Clark is a dog guy!!!!???
  • Did Bizarro breathe in kryptonite?
  • The Yellow sun weakens him, looks like the Bizarro world has a red sun
  • Why wasn’t the Kent farm house reversed?
  • Shirtless Clark, pantsless Lois thirst trap
  • 20 years sam lane never had a problem with Superman
  • Glad Anderson is alone in his Superman hate and that America likes superman
  • “The Fraternals”
  • What the hell kind of coach calls a kid’s cell phone
  • “Dude, you’re starting tonight?!” I LOVE CLARK
  • Really enjoy seeing Superman in broad daylight at Arlington with soldiers and the flag and a brighter costume and people trusting SUPERMAN and not Gen Anderson.
  • Great shot of Superman flying over white background and I love a good super feat over a natural disaster. Great use of super breath and heat vision. Weird seeing Superman in Russia and speaking Russian.
  • Does Lucy know Clark is Superman?
  • I’m a sports fan, I enjoy football when I watch but I just don’t relate to the yelling, toxic masculine, coach fired up pep talks.
  • Wait so last episode the bartender was in love with Kyle and was willing to ruin his life by showing up at the quinceanera, but now she’s sorry and is clear headed about it?
  • Wait, why does red solar light hurt Superman? Shouldn’t it just make him human/dampen his powers? Was the scene of Superman fighting the soldiers that was just like Bizarro at the beginning reversed? If not, why not?
  • I weirdly feel bad for Kyle now. Am I supposed to?

The Inverse Method - "Easier Than Candy Crush"08 Feb 202200:48:55

Sam and Henry open the show talking about 1996's Bizarro's World. Does it hold up? Still a good series? Where does it stand among the other Bizarro stories. The pals then dive into Episode 4, covering the look and feel of this Bizarro, the brilliance and the flaws of Lois and Lucy's storyline and more! Lastly the pals are very critical of Sam Lane's big brother is watching move and we even get to hear a clip of Henry's interview with Jerry Ordway, talking about Suicide Slum, Gangbuster and Superman's role within law enforcement.

The Thing In The Mines - “Nobody Expects You To Be Made of Steel On the Inside”27 Jan 202200:34:14

EPISODE 3 - “Nobody Expects You To Be Made of Steel On the Inside.”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2 Episode 3

S02E02 - “The Thing In The Minds”

Directed by  Gregory Smith

Written by Katie Aldrin and Juliana James

Lois reaches out to her father Sam to get help sneaking John into the mines to figure out what it's connection is to Clark's visions. Clark suffers outbursts of endangering those close to him. Meanwhile, Lana has second thoughts about running for mayor, while Jon and Jordan have to consider what they've learned about their girlfriends.

Lois: Obviously we have to talk about the big reveal/swerve but I’m actually at this moment slightly more interested in the big Lois reveal. First of all I love the idea that Lois exposed a cult that her sister was involved in and now she’s going to get her own villain that wasn’t previously in the comics and seems scary etc. I really really like the idea of Lois having a dangerous/unbeatable adversary that isn’t Lex Luthor (even though I’m ready for Cryer’s Luthor). I’m a little confused about the timeline. Did all this happen after Lucy appeared on Supergirl? Are we to understand that Lucy is currently in the cult? And that the expose didn’t lead to Ally Allston’s arrest? It seems like they are borrowing a lot from the NXIVM cult. Do you think this is either a shot or a reference to that explicitly because of Allison Mack/Chloe Sullivan? Very interesting Superman connection there. Loving Sam’s babyface turn and actually apologizing. This is not the Sam Lane we know from the comics.

Sorry but the teenage “I love yous” is just so hard to watch. Clark is right. Jordan doesn’t know jack shit about love. And I do like the resolution to wait a year and then revisit it.

Jonathan: Is it believable that a good kid like Jon would turn to harmful drugs? Like how does this kid not have Clark and Lois in his head. Is he That desperate to have a HS football career? Eh.

John Henry and Natalie: Natalie being mad at her dad for helping Superman is a big nothing burger. Especially because it was a fake out where she DID want to help upgrade the suit.

Bizarro: Ok the big reveal. Not surprised they swerved us and I’m happy they did. I guess I always prefer sympathetic Bizarro (not evil or comical) but this could still go that way. I like that they used elements of Doomsday to tease it but have it be Bizarro. The show has done a great job with using aspects of the mythos but not just giving us exactly what’s in the comics. Let’s see where this goes.  The fight Superman and Covered up Bizarro had was straight up Injustice/Mortal Kombat

The Ties That Bind - “Sorry, But I’m Kind Of Vegan”22 Jan 202200:30:04

Sam joins Henry minutes after watching Episode 2 for an immediate reaction! The Pals spend time talking about how the Kryptonian AI in the Fortress of Solitude should be, have some signature tangents on the Donner films, Snyder films and Apple TV's Foundation. They also wonder if football is the only thing to do at Smallville High.

S02E02 - “The Ties That Bind”

Directed by

David Ramsey (Diggle)

Writing Credits:

Kristi Korzec and Michael Narducci

“Clark opens up to Lois about his ongoing struggle with visions and admits that there is only one person who might be able to help; tensions begin to rise with Lois and Chrissy; Sarah breaks plans with Jordan to spend time with Natalie.”

Lana: I can’t believe that already in the SECOND episode you called what they were going to do with Lana. Like I’m both happy about it but also kinda disappointed you called it so easily.

This is the first canonical mention of Steel, John Irons' superhero alias.

Loving the friendship of Natalie and Sara. Kinda shipping them if that’s appropriate?

Jonathan kind of has an interesting sub-plot. Maybe he’s got his mom’s investigative powers.

Lois being discredited from a podcast/blog seems totally real, however SHE’S THE MOST FAMOUS REPORTER ON THE PLANET. I mean I guess this sort of thing does happen. Brian Williams lied about stolen valor and was discredited. I am excited for Lucy’s return though. I don’t really remember what she did on Supergirl. Christy is too hard on her, she would be nowhere without Lois Lane.

New Lara Lor Van - Mariana Klaveno. Joins the ranks of great actresses like Susannah York, Ayelet Zurer, etc. This was really playing fast and loose with the Super Kryptonian AI. I mean, Lara is crying? How would Jor-El know to program that? Also, she’s way out of Holo-gramps’ league.

TAL-RO returns - OBVIOUSLY HE WAS FAKING NOT HAVING POWERS! But, Superman’s trust is what makes him great.

Superman of America - first appeared Supermen of America #1 (March 1999) - Luthor’s team, then Superman reforms them with the Super-family.

Dr. Faulkner! As in, Kitty Faulkner aka Rampage?

Doomsday - Invasive Cosmological event inter-dimensional kinesthesis - some other being is causing it. This tracks with Doomsday connection to Superman. They were both Kryptonian.

Random - Loving how Superman’s costume looks. It looked great in the Red prison.

What Lies Beneath - "Whatever We Can Do To Help"14 Jan 202200:36:17

EPISODE 1 - “Whatever We Can Do To Help”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

  • It’s been about 6 months since we’ve recorded. We have seen each other in person where we did a super hero media thing. We saw Spider-Man No Way Home together!

  • I also got to show you my Superhero action figure collection and my extensive DC Comics library.
  • I want to thank the more than 1100 people who downloaded our little pod. This started as an outlet for me to talk about Superman on TV and we really appreciate you for listening to us!

Let’s talk about Superman and Lois Season 2

S02E01 - “What Lies Beneath?”

Directed by

Gregory Smith

Writing Credits:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

Three months after Nat's arrival, things start to settle down. Sarah returns from camp and gives Jordan the cold shoulder, Clark and Lois fight, Lana throws herself into a mayoral campaign, Superman comes to terms with Sam's replacement, and earthquakes shakes Smallville.

Things we wanted at the end of last season:

Better costume - done. S looks brighter, and is set within the costume. The costume moves a bit when he moves around showing that he’s not wearing the fake padding anymore. Much more form fitting. As much as I like 5 o’clock shadow Clark, I still want clean shaven Superman.

Stories that make sense - kind of but the angry Lois thing, eh.

3 months later:

Lois - So are we to believe that Lois has just been an asshole to sweet, kind, sensitive, patient Clark and her CHILDREN for 3 months with zero explanation? DOesn’t sound like the Lois we’ve gotten to know. Her explanation was totally reasonable but THREE MONTHS?! “Dad, how long is she gonna be like this?” That’s some intense shit for a family. Lois is kinda acting like a moody teenager. It just wasn’t realistic to me that everything Clark said to her she found annoying. And the argument they had was just completely unreasonable. She’s short with Jordan but then mad when he doesn’t go into details about Sarah. Who cares that he got arrested at Atlas Pond? Who cares that he doesn’t want to talk about it? He’s being respectful.

Really interesting stuff with Lois’ mom being a deadbeat and abandoning her and Lucy. That would definitely harden someone like Sam. This isn’t something we’ve heard about before so it came as a bit of a surprise. Seemed odd though that a couple that previously had amazing communication, would take 3 months to have this talk. I guess Clark has super-patience as one of his powers.

Irons

What have John Henry and Natalie been doing for 3 months? Why did John Henry have to stop Natalie from running and hugging Lois?

Clark - Awesome dad, awesome partner. The way in which I fell in love with Bitsie Tulloch last season, I’m falling in love with Tyler. He gets this character. His talk with Lois is so supportive and his talk with his boys was so sweet and hilarious. When Jonathan mouths, “mom,” I laughed. Clark’s super smell thing with Jordan's cologne.

Super funny thing that Jonathan’s girlfriend said the same advice as clark and he’s just like “stupid teenagers.” and then being like, “oh Jonathan Come on!” when Lois is pissed about catching Jonathan with Candace.

Superman - BANGER of a way to show some Super feats. Superman lifting a freaking sub and the North Koreans saying, “Superman saved us” is just pure joy. I was smiling ear to ear. Rescuing people from an earthquake is also so super.

I’m enjoying the conversation about whether Superman is just for America or not. I sort of like this soft spoken, thoughtful General Anderson. What was affecting Superman’s super-senses? Kryptonite? Who were those Super beings? X-Kryptonite soldiers?

Cushings - Gotta say, I’m a little disappointed that Lana is just running this stranger’s (to us) campaign and she’s not running herself. I like Clark and Kyle bonding a little. Sarah’s weirdness around Jordan is totally relatable. And I don’t really care. I love that Smallville is cashing in on Superman to help the economy. Love the JLGL cut out of Superman.

Doomsday - It looks like they’re going to do some comic-accurate stuff. But I feel like we’ve seen Doomsday recently with BvS crap and Krypton.

When the Lights Come On - “Stop Worrying About Your Hair”15 Nov 202400:23:21

EPISODE 6 - When the Lights Come On - “Stop Worrying About Your Hair”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 6 - When The Lights Come On

Directed by:

Ian Samoil

Written By:

Kristi Korzec (Teleplay)

Brent Fletcher (Story)

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

Luthor plans to move LuthorCorp to Smallville, but finds opposition in Lana; Sarah faces a difficult decision; Clark confronts Luthor face-to-face.

HENRY'S NOTES:

  • Luthor temper tantrum. I dunno, I know this was supposed to seem intense but it was just silly to me and it made me laugh.
  • Luthor confirms he has an endgame as he gazes on the Gazette
  • Fun that Jon is doing the superhero thing and I like that mom and dad finally told Jordan to get a job
  • Salt and Pepper patch in his hair (Love that) - it’s funny because Tyloer has a lot of gray in his beard and it looks awesome. Do you think this is a Superman thing or a regular middle aged vanity thing? Interesting that he’s concerned about Superman going gray when every comic book reader knows he looks great with some gray
  • Luthor vs Gretchen is a great face off
  • Funny that Jon has the Wally West eating thing. Especially because traditionally Superman doesn’t need to eat.
  • Ok so now the coach knows the secret and it’s played for comedy? But “Aidy” knows too. They’re definitely going for the “town knows and is protecting him” thing. Lois and Clark don’t even seem that concerned.
    • I’m starting to come around on it because of the way the town is reacting to Luthor.
  • Lana going toe to toe with Luthor is A+
  • I take exception to Sara calling Luthor a “bald headed loser” as if those two things were connected. To quote Larry David, “that’s a hate crime, we’re a group.”
  • Sara wants to go abroad in high school? I mean not unheard of but seems odd.
  • Nice Varsity Blues reference
  • Lana getting beat up by Luthor is spot on. Love that Sarah fucked Otis up with a baseball bat. Good idea Kyle putting bats under beds.
  • Clark vs Lex, let’s go. Lex grabbed a red sun inhibitor. Good idea. Unhinged Tyler is new and I love seeing this range from him. Let’s go Clark. Beat his ass. Who taught Clark how to fight?! I’m sorry that was a really cool fight scene. Loved seeing that side of Clark/Tyler.
  • Full Mortal Combat
  • Has Sarah ever flown with the boys before?
  • “Get you a killer suit” with a great pull out shot and tease of the Lexcorp building.

Loyal Subjekts & O Mother Where Art Thou? - "We're his family. And no matter what happens, we always will be."25 Jun 202100:46:23

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

We’re going to catch up on the last two episodes in a bit but first I wanted to revisit our discussion on the timeline of Superman & Lois. Sam I made a new virtual pal over the last two weeks. A new listener reached out and wrote some really kind words about our podcast. So, shout out to Jen Russell who hosts a podcast of her own about the NBC show Blacklist. So check out the Keen Minds Podcast. You can find it on Apple Podcasts and on twitter https://twitter.com/keen_minds?lang=en. So Jen and I have been talking a lot about Superman & Lois, which she loves and she wanted to help us with our understanding of the timeline. This is what she said:

“The topic of Lois and Clark's ages, and I think it does actually work in this timeline, assuming Lois and Clark are about the same age. The Arrowverse Fandom page has Clark's birth year set in 1979, so that would put him 41-42 if this is based on current day. The twins are 14, so they would have been born in 2007, putting Clark in his late 20's when they were born. If Lois was also born in '79 and graduated college at 22 (and I could see her graduating early), that could put her as 6 years between graduation and the boys being born. You have to squint a little for it, but for TV it's closer than a lot of shows bother with.

For Tyler being 33, I think they address that in the pilot when Lana says it's like he doesn't age. I think Clark is supposed to be early 40's, just looks young.”

What do you think about that explanation Sam?

I just want to give one more shout-out to her. She makes AMAZING Superman & Lois gifs on her tumblr which is takadasaiko.tumblr.com

Broken Trust - “You’re Stronger Than You Think You Are”25 May 202100:41:37

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

We’re back! That hiatus actually flew by. I would like to say that it helped that we had Supergirl and Flash to fill in, but in my opinion both have been really frustrating. I know because of Covid and because she’s a new mom the filming of Supergirl has been difficult. But this is the LAST season of Supergirl. And the last time we get Mellissa Benoist who IMO has been a wonderful Supergirl. How can you have 7 episodes in a row where your star who’s name is the name of the show just isn’t in it? The two flashback episodes, while cute, literally didn’t have Kara in them at all. And in the most recent one she showed up at the end to hug her sister and that was it. VERY frustrating.

But we’re not here to talk about Supergirl, we’re talking about Superman. Sam what a great episode to come back with.

“Clark reconsiders his decision to let Jordan play football; Lois' continued investigation of Morgan Edge requires her to trust an unexpected ally.”

Nice little “previously on…” Caught us up on what’s going on.

I’m glad they’re digging in a bit more into the powers thing. Like it’s clear that Jordan has some serious powers that might be slightly different from Clark’s. So was Hologramps just wrong about him?

Superman flying in looked great and we got MORE POWERFUL THAN A LOCOMOTIVE! I also loved that his first instinct was to talk to Tag, not punch him. That’s my Superman. I loved how he didn’t just stop the train but got it back on track. I like when heat vision fixes things instead of just blasting a bad guy.

I liked Lois saying “I want you focused on the boys” and Clark didn’t argue. That’s a solid marriage right there.

Why is Metropolis high school playing Smallville? There’s two options here.

  1. Metropolis is in the midwest like on the show Smallville and is quite close
    1. Sara does say “I’d hate to go all the way to Metropolis…”
    2. They’re in a hotel
  2. Metropolis high and Smallville high have the two best football teams in the country and it was a championship game or something.

I know they’re teenagers and they make dumb decisions but I’m getting tired of the CW trope of not telling someone something which leads to a misunderstanding. Why wouldn’t Jordan tell Clark about the headaches and heat vision boiling over?

I know we’re supposed to, but I hate Kyle and I don’t buy Lana with him AT ALL.

How cool were all of Clarks fist marks in the tree trunk. How many times did he punch that thing growing up? “You’re stronger than you think you are”

Nice to see Jonathan finally getting a chance to shine in the game, especially with Jordan working together with him.

Glad to see Lois suspicious of “Marcus.” The main focus of the episode seemed to be on Jordan and his powers (tag etc) but Lois really shined this episode as badass reporter Lois Lane.

Lois pointing out the ridiculousness of dressing up in disguise was funny.

Sara’s going to have a rough time being a parent if she can’t watch a Disney movie a THOUSAND times. I HATE seeing people hit their head on stuff in movies. Like a total parent nightmare.

Clark “catching” Jordan’s heat vision was so cool, creative and looked like it hurt Clark! I like when we see stuff we haven’t seen before that actually makes sense.

Are we supposed to think Clark is overreacting or that Jordan is being a stupid teenager that makes mistakes? I know teenagers do dumb stuff like going out drinking but they JUST screwed up with that in the last couple episodes. This seems ill advised. Jonathan stopping Jordan’s punch was devastating. These kids are good actors.

“You get to be Superman! Who am i? I wanted to be good at something. I’M NOT YOU! OK!” I’m glad this isn’t how it’s going in the comics but for some reason it makes sense and I like it.

Sarah should be dead or have a concussion.

“Don’t Run! I’m here to help you” - Superman should say that. Angry red eyes of anger are a trope but they worked here for me. “STAND DOWN” Yessir mr. superman.

Incredible speech by Clark. And he immediately feels bad.

“Probably not the best time to tell you I almost got killed tonight” Instantly gifable!

Lois totally loises two scenes in a row, first as reporter with Lana second as super-mom with Jordan.

Poor grammar by saying “bring me farther away.”

I LOOOOOVED Clark rocketing off with Jordan, glasses still on and then going into 2nd and then THIRD Gear

The Best Of Smallville - "Big Reporter Energy"06 Apr 202100:42:42

Show Notes:

Does Superman work best on TV as opposed to film? Why?

Let’s talk about the recent controversy with the show. What allegedly happened according to former writer Nadria Tucker?

https://thegrapevine.theroot.com/nadria-tucker-discusses-seemingly-out-of-nowhere-dismis-1846456451?fbclid=IwAR1Ipy9N1a0ECRsd-6f_3VkAIiYuG_pE7E1QP837lXy15LDAso16R8fhbj8

Episode recap:

“As Smallville celebrates its first Harvest Festival since Martha's passing, Clark is reminded what his mother meant to him and learns a lesson that will help him move past her death. Meanwhile, Lois makes a breakthrough in the investigation of Morgan Edge. Kyle tries to reconnect with Lana, but it seems like he might be falling back into his old ways.”

  • Clark’s v/o with scenes of Smallville in slo-mo! YES PLEASE! More of this. Love that the fam is watching super-feats over breakfast.
  • “Back to 1949 when Smallville was established” - ACCURATE. Superboy #2, 1949, written by Jerry Siegel.
  • Are the Kents growing corn?
  • I like that the Jordan/Sarah romance is progressing in a realistically awkward but normal way. Clark’s dorky dad embarrassing exuberance was so perfect.
  • Jonathan’s life sucks in such a teenager “my life sucks” way. Lois handled the mom-advice to him like a champ. She didn’t react to his insult, and knows to just wait it out. Clark reacting to Jon’s unreasonable request of living at someone’s apt was to laugh. LOL Then Clark knowing he was drunk was also LOL. Good parenting just sending him home in an uber and then dealing with it later. No really. I love that last episode you thought Jonathan was being TOO good and here he flies off the handle. Yet he comes back and apologizes, no problem. Clark’s turn for some GREAT parenting.
  • The Morgan Edge/Lois/Smallville story is a great reason why Superman works best serialized (tv, radio, comics). It was good to see Kyle and Lois acting normal to each other. Beppo’s line “Big Reporter Energy” was amazing.
  • Really enjoyed the flashback scenes and more Martha. It’s interesting that Martha was his main influence as a teen.I wonder if we’ll get to see more flashbacks with Jonathan. I didn’t need to see him fighting crime like a proto-Batman, I would’ve prefered super-feats that help people. But I love seeing Clark being affected by the stuff around him and thinking about the past. “He knew I was here for a reason” - reference to Glen Ford talking to young Clark in STM. You get the feeling that Martha was just an absolute amazing woman. She really had a rough time raising a teenaged powered Clark as a single mom. It was cool seeing Martha send him on his way with the Kryptonian crystal. Usually it’s Jonathan passing along advice for how to proceed with what he was meant to do. Now that I think about it though, Pa dies when Clark appears to be a Senior in STM, and in Smallville Pa died about halfway through the run of the show. Anyway what exactly did Martha want him to do? Go to the fortress? Go to the future to become a Legionnaire? Where did Clark go? For how long? I mean I guess in STM he goes to the fortress at 18 for 7 years. I think I prefer the comics version where Clark graduates, heads off for an extended gap year to figure it all out then goes to Met U to study journalism. Anyway this was a strange way to do the transition from Smallville to Superman. But it was interesting. I still don’t fully understand how Clark and Lana remember their whole lives with the boys. I read a rumor that this show actually operates outside the Arrowverse...
  • I love Clark saving the day secretly AS CLARK because it would be weird if Superman happened to be in Smallville. “Is that frost?”
  • There’s something about Captain Luthor lurking around, pretending to be a journalist that doesn’t feel right to me. It seems like he understands that this is a different earth that he was on and that Lois is a different Lois. So why doesn’t he understand that this Superman is different from the one on his earth. And WHY doesn’t he realize that when they first meet and Superman wants to just talk. I assume what will happen is that Superman killed HIS Lois and so he’s just blinded by rage.

Haywire - "Now The Resurrection begins”23 Mar 202100:43:53

Scene 1 - What is Morgan Edge looking at?

Football scene had a very Friday Night Lights vibe. Great little pep talk from Clark, love the confidence he has in Jordan.

Didn’t Clark promise not to listen in on Lois? Is it just that he’s keyed in on Sam? Did he stop listening once he heard Lois?

I love how Sam is just like, “I’ll stick around this weekend.” Uninvited. Btw, I had a Grandpa Sam who was much more loving than Sam Lane.

Morgan Edge was a total creep. Is Lana’s husband just some sort of cuckold? Like does he want Edge to bang his wife? Is he just that naive?

Interesting how Lois is a little too big to be working at Smallville Gazette. Like why wouldn’t she just write her own blog or tweet? She’s arguably the most famous reporter in the world.

Lois confronting Edge and saying, “oh who cares” when he starts talking about his accent is so ballsy and funny. She IS Lois Lane.

Can we talk about KILLGRAVE!? I mean this show was made for our generation of Superman fans. It’s funny because my moroy of the comic is that Killgrave brings real danger but Superman sort of always sees him as a nuisance. And I believe in his second to last or last appearance Superman basically threatens him to never come back again. But it’s good seeing a classic Superman villain that’s not Lex or Brainiac who even seems formidable. The way Superman handled it was great too. He kinda needed to hear his kids in order to snap out of it and finish Killgrave with a super clap.

Ah the classic Superman not going to an emergency because he needs to tend to his family is finally here. You knew it was coming. Why is Superman’s code name “Bishop 6?” Is it a reference to Checkmate? Also, why does Superman need a codename? He has one, it’s called “SUPERMAN.”

Tyler looks great in the suit. Very believable. Loved seeing him fly over Chicago, reminded me of Lois and Clark but with good SFX like Chicago in The Dark Knight.

Even for Sam Lane, putting all of that pressure on the boys was OUTRAGEOUS. This is the Sam Lane I know from the comics. A jerk and basically as bad of a grandfather as he was a father.

I know it’s part of the plot but it was incredibly disappointing that Clark didn’t make it to the town vote. I get missing a date with Lois or something but it seems like Clark Kent maybe would’ve been late but would’ve made an important thing like that. However, I do like Lois being mad but not passive aggressive and just talking about their issue. She had every right to be annoyed and she told it to Clark the way he needed to hear it. It’s so subtle but the look on Clark’s face of, “I don’t know what I’m doing anymore” felt realistic and felt like the kind of turmoil he should go through.

In high school or college I probably would've enjoyed the party scene but it just makes me anxious now. Maybe it’s because I'm a middle school teacher and a parent.

Lois and Lana’s girl’s night out was meh. I hate all the “men are like this and women are like this” stuff. So outdated and basic. Lois’ advice somehow leads to them completely making up over some pancakes? Ok.

I like that Jon and Jordan took what their grandpa said seriously, (even if it was shitty advice) and wanted to solve it themselves. Great shot of Superman holding tag over the earth.

There’s nothing quite like Lois Lane letting General Lane have it.

Date night was so cute! And like that Sam learned his lesson. He’s not all bad. This is called GOOD character development.

Heritage - "He Just Needs His Dad" (With special guest, Daniel Warshawsky)09 Mar 202100:43:13

In this episode Henry is joined by longtime friend and teen educator Daniel Warshawsky to talk about how mental health, and teen anxiety is being portrayed on Superman & Lois.

SHOW NOTES:
Episode 2, “Heritage” written by Todd Helbing, Directed by Lee Toland Krieger

“While adjusting to their new lives in Smallville, Lois and Clark make an important decision concerning one of their sons; tensions begin to rise between Lois and Morgan Edge; Lana Lang Cushing invites the Kent family over for a barbecue.Jonathan has his first day on the Smallville football team but discovers that the other players aren't thrilled to have him. Clark takes Jordan to the Fortress of Solitude to study his son's newfound powers, and Lois is on the trail about Smallville's supposed benefactor, Morgan Edge.”

We’re not going to talk about everything that happened in the episode but let’s talk about the theme for a bit. As I mentioned in our first episode the Superman theme is important to me. First of all, there really was just a snippet of it in the opening scene.

The new theme:
I didn’t love it. I thought it fit the tone of the show. It was slow, contemplative, and fit the slowed down lifestyle that the Kents have now. But it didn’t get me excited. It didn’t pop, it didn’t soar, it didn’t say “Superman.” Reminded me of the MoS theme which, in my opinion never really went anywhere.

Overall:

I really loved it. I had the same goofy grin on my face that I had last week. There was no cheesiness, nothing cringy. There was high quality acting, solid writing, and a compelling story.

The Production:
The high level of production value continued. This episode felt just as cinematic. The scenes on the farm were gorgeous, Lois walking into the town hall felt important and Superman’s action scenes were exciting. The tone continues to feel different from the other CW shows. I actually watched The Flash right after, and while I did enjoy it it did feel sillier than usual.

The fortress:
The look of the fortress was great. Felt familiar but wasn’t a retread of previous versions. Definitely an upgrade from the Fortress in Crisis last year.

Jor-El:
Forgive me but I don’t want to see a Jor-El that’s in worse shape than me. He also looked NOTHING like Tyler Hoechlin. If you’re going to do an homage or style similar to Superman The Movie, then go all the way. He just was boring and lame.

Lois Lane:
This was Lois’ episode to shine, and boy did she ever. Having her frame the episode with a voice over was perfect because you could imagine that she was writing this somewhere. Maybe in a journal, maybe in an article but it felt real. “You don’t go to the news, the news goes to you”
The way Bitsie moved through the episode as intrepid reporter, loyal partner and super-mom was beautiful. I squealed with delight when she walked into town hall and when she walked into the Smallville Gazette I exclaimed out loud, “OHHHH SHIT!”

Sam Lane:
In the comics, specifically from 1986 and on, Sam is adversarial to both Clark and Superman. Doesn’t think Clark is tough enough to marry his daughter, and doesn’t like how potentially dangerous Superman is and therefore doesn’t trust him. I like this twist where he’s Superman’s support network but still questions Clark as a husband and as a dad.

Clark:
Clark is still struggling as a dad and even when he has a small victory with Jordan. The up and down experience of parenting, specifically teens, is very real. Let’s talk a bit about this with Daniel.

Break The Cycle - “Look At Me & Try To Remember”02 Nov 202400:29:41

EPISODE 5 - Break The Cycle - “Look At Me & Try To Remember”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Happy Halloween Sam! What is your favorite spooky Superman story?

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 5 - Break The Cycle

Directed by:

Elizabeth Henstridge

Written By:

Adam Mallinger

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

Lois makes increasingly bold moves as she tries to stop Luthor. Jonathan struggles to balance his personal life and responsibilities, while Clark learns an unsettling truth.

Henry's Notes:

  • Oooh flashback!
  • Another interesting Luthor twist is that he was in a long loveless marriage. Usually he’s sort of a playboy.
  • So the distance from Luthor’s daughter started when they were married
  • “Milton is looking into it”
  • “Superman Lives!”
  • Teenagers being excited about a trunk full of fireworks seems like a very small town thing. Confirmed? “Let’s go get the keg.”
  • Ok wait, now the local folks know Clark is Superman. Oh for fucks sake. Why are the writers doing this with 5 episodes left?
  • Superman appealing to Lex as a father is so on brand.
  • Why is Candice back?
  • Pretty cool that Elizabeth Henstridge directed and guest starred in the episode. I didn’t watch Agents of Shield. Was she a big deal? In another life she would’ve made a good Lois Lane.
  • Ooooh Kryptonian tech so Lara can see the fight. Kryptonia VR, I told you they had video games in the Fortress!
  • Jon is kinda dressed like Marty. Also this side story with Candice is bullshit and a waste of time. A kid in their class knows Clark is Supermanbut they’re not pursuing that?
  • The Lex flashbacks were really good. Very much like lex luthor the unauthorized biography - 1989
  • The balls on Lois Lane to face off with Doomsday. I love it, that’s the Lois Lane I know and love. So great to see Bizarro world flashbacks.
  • Oh my god Lois got through to Doomsday

The Pilot - "We Came Here As A Family"04 Mar 202100:46:42

Henry and Sam talk about their overall impressions of the Pilot episode. What worked, what didn't, did you catch all the Superman references?

Overall thoughts on the premier:
Thumbs up Thumbs down?
I loved it. I watched it twice, it might be the closest to what I think of as Superman.

What they got right:
Bitsie Tulloch might be the best Lois of all time. I love how cool but kind she was to Clark at their first meeting. She seems like a great mom and a great partner. Very contemplative, thoughtful, planful.
Tyler was really solid. I’ve enjoyed his Clark/Superman in the crossovers and was wondering if he could pull it off here. His Clark is exactly how 90’s comics Clark is. A little clumsy yet confident, cool but nerdy in a sweet way, loves Lois but is chill about it. Great emotional scenes and really surprised me as a powerful yet relatable Superman
It was more cinematic, serious and less cheesy than previous Arrowverse shows. Tonaly it seemed completely different than Supergirl.
Real visual fx shots, wires and rigs not just cgi.
Twins were good. I didn’t think I’d care about their scenes but I did. Even though the switcheroo on the powers was kinda telegraphed, I still liked it.
Smallville as kind of a rundown town and not just a perfectly preserved 1950’s hometown
I didn’t think I would like it, but Sam Lane as an ally who knows the secret was cool. At odds with Lois, but not with Clark. Different.
LOVE Clark’s vulnerability.

What they got wrong or what I hope will get better:
I missed the hustle and bustle of the Daily Planet with Perry and Jimmy, but I get what they’re doing. The beginning though, just seemed like a high rise call center. Not so much a bullpen.
It was weird to me when Lois tells Clark he had to stay home and not be Superman, but it worked for the moment.
I prefer my Clark to have parents who are alive. But let’s see where this goes.
Cutting to Clark getting fired and not seeing the scene was weird.
Lana isn’t really working for me yet, and I know he’s a heel but the husband just seems too unlikeable. Let’s see. It’s not Lana Lang. It’s a different character. Kinda like Mechad Brooks on Supergirl.
I’m concerned that Morgan Edge will just be a stand-in for Luthor...The whole bank/Lana thing just seemed dumb.
The router up high so they could set up the accident was ridiculous! How and why would Martha have done that?
The music, or lack of it. It wasn’t as inspiring as I had hoped, and there was no theme. I hear that’s coming next week but I want my Superman to start with a rousing theme that can also be played during heroics.
How OLD are Lois and Clark? When Crisis reset and their babies became twin teens did the grownups age up too?
I would’ve preferred Clark telling the twins the secret before they busted him. Even if they had the same reaction. Have they never seen their dad without glasses?
The sliding scale of powers/vulnerability to Kryptonite. How was he able to just pull the kryptonite out?

Superman Reference/Easter Eggs that I caught"
Action #1/Fleisher homage
“My mom made it for me” (For All Seasons)
Superman lifting ice was the same shot as Superman Returns with kryptonite land mass. And using an iceberg is from Superman III
Donner, Siegel/Shuster 1938 on the blackboard
Steve Lombard
Foswell
Injustice 2
Jordan is Jor El
Doc Fry (Superman The Movie, Pa’s dr.)
Shuster Mines
Lana Mentioning “Superwoman”
Superman in space was another shot from Superman Returns

A Perfectly Good Wedding - “Alright Rookie, Settle Down”24 Oct 202400:32:08

EPISODE 4 - A Perfectly Good Wedding - “Alright rookie, settle down”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

Confirmed: Unfortunately, the Showrunner has confirmed that Adam Rayner will not be returning as Tal-Rho in Season 4

The character's last appearance was at the end of Season 2 when he chose to stay in the Bizarro world.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 4 - A Perfectly Good Wedding

Directed by:

Gregory Smith

Written By:

George Kitson and Max Kronick

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

The Kents struggle to adjust to their new normal; Lois helps throw Kyle and Chrissy an impromptu wedding that doesn't go as planned.

  • HENRY'S EPISODE NOTES:
  • This should be called “A Perfectly Fine Episode”
  • Lol to the caption saying, “Somber music.” No shit, S&L.
  • Wait this wasn’t a dream? He’s really back like that?
  • “A Second chance to do more, to be better. And make the most of the time we have on this planet”
  • So Clark has been back for 3 weeks?
  • Nice to see Kyle and Chrissy, but I dunno. I don’t care about them anymore now that we have 6 episodes left.
  • Haha Jonathan made a Star Wars reference and Clark loved it, “12 Parsecs.” Amazing that he’s so good at flying. Holy shit he just busted right through. This is really fun. I love that their training consists of Movie references. And again I gotta hand it to the effects crew. This show has consistently not looked like a cartoon.
  • “All right rookie, settle down.” - Clark after Jonathan busts Clark for crashing going Mach 5.
  • I’m glad that they’re continuing the thread of Jordan being upset about Lois choosing Jonathan. That’s a reason to be pissed. Good of Jon to call out Jordan on that stuff too. “Just following your example superboy”
  • Lois: Do you want to talk about….for starters you died. Clark: Everything feels different. Amazing that they can share not feeling secure in their bodies. I love them so much. “What matters is that you’re here with me now.” Clark can get drunk!
  • Cheryl Campbell: “Your dad is one of the good ones”
  • Jordan still thinking that Clark and Sam died because of him
  • “I don’t have a suit!”- Jon, “You’ve got a hoodie” - Jordan lol
  • Whoa who’s that fire guy?
  • Is Superman’s new suit even darker???
  • Dance sequence. Lots of cute shots of Lois and Clark. That’s all I care about.
  • Breaking news Superman Returns Superman Lives!
  • This episode was a lot of filler and I honestly think they rushed him back. The emotional weight of episode 1 was completely thrown out the window

Always My Hero - “Superman…I’m Me”21 Oct 202400:29:11

EPISODE 3 - Always My Hero - “Superman…I’m Me”

Greetings Super friends! Welcome to Superman & Lois & Pals. I’m Henry Bernstein and alongside me is my favorite super pal, Professor Sam Brody.

First image dropped of Superman with Krypto and all I have to say is, he’s a good boy.

Let’s talk about Superman & Lois Season 4, Episode 2 - A World Without

Directed by:

David Giuntoli

Written By:

Brent Fletcher and Todd Helbing

The Apple TV and Imdb description is:

Reeling from failure, Jordan begins to spiral; Jonathan discovers newfound strength; Gen. Lane recruits John Henry and Natalie Irons, before making a choice that will change everything.

  • I CAN’T SEE THE SHOW IT’S TOO DARK! Make TV Turn Up Brightness Again!
  • “Can you ever truly explain how much a person meant to you?” The opening montage with Lois’ monologue is almost too much to handle. They are really laying it on thick. Is that a funeral? Did they bury him or are they just talking in front of a tree?
  • I don’t understand the conversation Sam is having with the other DOD agent. Is she a superior? Or is he ordering her around?
  • Oooh flashback! Omg I loooooove that Clark is awkwardly telling Sam the secret lol. “Superman - I’m me, we’re the same person” Haha the slo mo glasses reveal. I have to say, he does look and seem different! Very reminiscent of Reeve in that famous scene from STM in Lois’ apt!
  • Great seeing John Henry and Nat!
  • What a scoop for the Smallville Gazette!
  • I actually really like that Jonathan is mad at Jordan and needs some space. This is real brother shit. Especially with twins. “You were never trying to save dad, you were trying to be a hero and now he’s dad, my dad is dead and I never get to see him again.” This was great acting. JONATHAN HAS POWERS!!! FUCK YES!!!!
  • “Can’t believe he’s flying already” - me too Lois, me too.
  • They call freeze breath, “ice breath,” what do you think about that?
  • Lois calls this bad timing, but I think it’s GREAT timing. The more stable brother got powers. Let’s fucking go.
  • They are doing a great job with keeping Tyler in the mix with these flashbacks. “We don’t get to sign up for the friends and family program.” This is great showing us these conversations between Sam and Clark because we’ve earned these flashbacks from what we went through with Sam in the first season and then seeing him come around and then now seeing that version of him again, seems like a familiar reminder.
  • What’s Doomsday eating? Lex: “The difference is I like him” That’s messed up lol
  • Wow I love Jonathan cutting up fruit and smelling it! I don’t think I’ve ever thought about that particular power being intense for Superman. “Your father hated limburger cheese”
  • Do you feel it’s realistic that Jordan still plays video games? I feel like if I had powers I would fly to every place in the world I’ve always wanted to see. Instead of a racing game I would actually race.
  • “G’afternoon Superboy” lol
  • Ohhhh F, Lois chose Jonathan. Damn. Didn’t see that coming.
  • All this backdoor politics in the DOD is boring to me.
  • MARTHA!!!!!!! “Clark you’re gonna be a great husband and a terrific father” Love that she has the signature bun too
  • Lois: “don’t you ever say that to me again, EVER. “Lex Luthor is using you to hurt me”
  • Who is “Jones?!” J’onn J’onez?
  • jesust how many times is Sam Lane going to almost die. Super-Sam let’s GO! Did NOT see this coming. “Suit up John.” Oh yeah they’re both suiting up! Double STEEL.
  • Lois in a Wedding Dress! She looks beautiful, I’m crying. “You fell in love with Clark Kent but you’re marrying Superman.”
  • “Ok Pumpkin, I trust you. But I see how much you love him….you have my blessing.” That actually is a huge revelation that they got the blessing.
  • You called Superman with a human heart!!!!
  • Great character arc for Sam Lane. I love that he got to be the hero saving Lois, the kids and Superman. “He’s gonna come back, I’ll be there too for every beat”
  • Ah so the funeral was for Sam, not Superman. Nice twist. What was the significance of the matching shirts the boys were wearing? Update - the shirts were gifts from Sam for their fishing trip. This is long term story telling.
