| #237 Why Classical Acupuncture Is the Missing Piece with Dr. MG McCullough | 12 Aug 2026 | 01:09:17 | |
This one's a ripper, legends. I sat down with Dr. MG McCullough, a classical acupuncturist who trained under Ann Cecil-Sterman in the Jeffrey Yuen lineage, and we went deep - like, Jenga-block-pulled-from-the-middle deep - on what modern acupuncture school actually leaves out. MG's whole thing is that we didn't just simplify Chinese medicine when it got exported West, we pulled the center block out of the tower. The primaries got taught, the channels, sinews, luo vessels, divergences and eight extraordinaries got filed under "extra," and now most acupuncturists are running triage clinics instead of practicing the full system. We get into why that matters, why it's not anyone's fault, what it'd take to rebuild the whole thing from the ground up, and where MG's taking her own practice next. Dr. MG & Mason discuss:
Guest Bio Dr. MG McCullough is a classical acupuncturist who trained under Ann Cecil-Sterman - a teacher in Jeffrey Yuen's lineage who's been on the SuperFeast podcast before, so go dig up those episodes if this one hits. MG's outspoken about the structural gap she sees in acupuncture education, and she's in the middle of a big life transition - moving to the south of France, just north of Montpellier - as she reshapes her practice toward teaching and retreat-style intensives. She also hosts her own show, The Original Medicine Podcast. Resources Mentioned

| #236 Tonic Herbalism, Liver Flow & Using Your Emotions (Properly) with Helen Padarin | 29 Jul 2026 | 01:03:19 | |
This one starts light and ends deep. We get into Gynostemma - one of those rare herbs you can take daily without throwing yourself off. Proper longevity tonic, not hype. Then Asparagus Root ("Heavenly Gate") - big for adrenals, reproductive health, and actually getting some perspective when life's a bit chaotic. But the real thread here is the liver. There's a clear pattern right now-people sitting on a lot of anger, resentment, frustration… and trying to "let it go" without ever working with it. Problem is, that's not junk-it's energy. Life force. So instead of suppressing it, we flip it: It tells you what matters and where your boundaries are. That's where liver health comes in. It's the "general"-the system that gives you clarity and direction. When it's sluggish, everything feels stuck. We also get into liver/gallbladder flushes-not as some extreme detox, but as basic upkeep (if done properly). Prep matters. No shortcuts. Underneath all of it: You've got to feel it, move it, and actually live in your body.

| #235 Laying the Ground for Jing & Cultivation with Benny Fergusson | 27 Jul 2026 | 01:23:51 | |
Right, we're kicking off this new series on the Three Treasures - Jing, Qi, and Shen - and I've brought in an absolute legend to help us navigate this. Benny is a fixture around here, living just a stone's throw from the studio, and he's the perfect guide for this series. He comes from a hardcore performance background - sports, movement, the works - but he's spent years deep in the trenches of neurosomatic movement and nervous system work, which makes him the perfect bridge between high-level performance and ancient Taoist principles. We're starting with Jing, but forget the dusty, abstract textbook definitions. Benny's all about the "slow melt." He's here to talk about why we've all been drifting out of alignment and calling it "normal." We've basically turned the health space into another arena of performance where we're constantly searching for the next "optimal" diet or training style to fix us, while our nervous system - the canary in the coal mine - is trying to whisper that we're burning the candle at both ends. We're overriding fatigue, pushing through tension, and treating our body like a project rather than a relationship. Benny's work is all about coming back home to the body. He challenges us to stop treating stillness as just another "de-stress" ritual to check off a packed calendar. Instead, he reframes cultivation as gardening: it's about pulling the weeds - those unresolved tensions and habits - so you can actually grow something. It's not about adding more; it's about clearing space. We dig into why we're so good at ignoring those early signals, and how to stop treating your body like a problem to solve. It's an eye-opening conversation on remembering what's already there - protecting your base, honoring the whispers, and building a life that doesn't drain you dry. It's not easy, but it is real. Let's get to it. Key Points We Touch On

| #234 Forgiveness is Self-Care and Choosing to Respond, Not React with Damien Cole | 11 May 2026 | 01:32:41 | |
[TRIGGER WARNING]: This episode includes discussion of a traumatic car crash and associated trauma (TBI). Listener discretion is advised, especially for those with past experiences related to car crashes. The dude got real about escaping the Society Lie and the ideologies that trap you, pointing out that our society is just one option out of infinite possibilities. Damien's main approach to life, rooted in a Walt Whitman quote, is: Be curious, not judgmental. He was living this fear-based life for his entire 20s, working in the offshore mining industry and making "ridiculous money," which he called Escaping Blood Money. He finally bailed at 28 to jokingly/sincerely "save the world". We talked about his environmental Hippie Roots—his dad Maurice Cole co-founded Surfrider Foundation Europe in 1991, and Damien's first protest was at age 8 against French nuclear bombing. This led to a key takeaway on how to deal with overwhelming global crises like the Pacific Garbage Patch: don't get frozen by fear, you gotta Localize the Impact—think global, but act local. We shut down the haters who call you a hypocrite when you change your path, recognizing that a commitment to growth means you Embrace Evolution. The biggest piece of gold came when Damo shared the story of his traumatic car crash (which gave him a TBI) and the moment in a San Pedro ceremony where he chose Forgiveness is Self-Care. He realized holding onto anger toward the drunk driver, Samantha Hartwell, was just keeping a "black ball" of hatred inside himself. The final kernel of wisdom, mate, is that while we don't control outside things, we get to choose whether we react (leading with emotion and losing control) or respond (maintaining control and taking a beat). Pull your finger out of your ass, get engaged, and go do something! Ditch the Labels: Damien started leaning into his full name, Damien, as a new chapter, realizing that a name—or any external label—doesn't matter as much as what's going on internally. You are so much more than just your name. Love Over Blood: We dove into whether love should carry more gravitas than blood ties, especially when talking about family roles and who really steps up. It's about the energetic role, not just the blood role. The Society Lie: Don't get trapped by ideologies! The world we live in is just one option out of infinite possibilities, so you've got to be aware and curious about what could have been. Curiosity is the Key: Damien lives by the Walt Whitman quote: "Be curious, not judgmental." Every choice strips back to one core approach: lead with love or lead with fear (which breeds jealousy, anger, and frustration). Escaping Blood Money: Damo spent his entire 20s in the offshore mining industry making "ridiculous money," but it was "soul destroying" and led to low self-worth. He finally bailed at 28 to jokingly/sincerely "save the world". The Hippie Roots: This dude was influenced by his huge-character dad, Maurice Cole, who co-founded Surfrider Foundation Europe in 1991. Damien's first protest was at age 8 against French nuclear bombing, showing that connection between surfers and farmers. Localize the Impact: Don't get frozen by fear over the global plastics crisis (like the huge Pacific Garbage Patch). Think global, but act local. If you pick up a few bits of rubbish, that's four less bits that won't go into a turtle—that small action is where the true power is. Embrace Evolution: Don't let the haters call you a hypocrite! When people questioned Damien's jump from the mines to environmentalism, he shut them down—it's called evolution, and it's a never-ending path of growth. It's okay to fail and be wrong. Forgiveness is Self-Care: Damien talked about the gnarly car crash that gave him a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and led to a moment in a San Pedro ceremony where he chose to forgive the drunk driver, Samantha Hartwell. He realized holding onto anger was just keeping a "black ball" of hatred inside himself. Respond, Don't React: This is the kernel of wisdom, mate. We don't control outside things, but we choose whether to react (leading with emotions and losing control) or to respond (maintaining control and taking a beat).

| #233 Pharmaceuticals and Natural Therapies: An Award-Winning Pharmacist's Guide to Safe Integration with Sara Murdock | 06 May 2026 | 00:50:04 | |
The chat features Sara Murdock, an award-winning pharmacist and key integrator on the front line of modern health, addressing the reality that people actively use both pharmaceuticals and natural therapies.
The central challenge is ensuring this dual approach is done safely, a dilemma highlighted by Sara's inability to recommend beloved products like turmeric due to potential harmful interactions with certain medications. This underscores her definition of Integrative Healthcare: leveraging the best of both worlds with structure, accountability, and paramount safety.
Mason and Sara connect this caution to the Taoist principle of Fú Zhèng (Protect the Upright), advocating a pivot away from interactive single herbs toward general, harmonizing options (like yin tonics or non-interactive mushrooms) to build resilience. Pharmacists and GPs are framed as the necessary societal bridge, authorizing patients to add supportive tools (like magnesium or a probiotic) to build health and diminish long-term drug reliance. Sara calls her dedication to continuous growth "skill stacking," embodying true intelligence by integrating opposing ideas—the "chemistry queen" who loves science/math, and the deep soul who leads with heart.
The conversation lands on the essential requirement for all healthcare providers to practice "the healing of the healer," prioritizing their own health and grounding rituals (nature, quiet moments, exercise) to prevent burnout.
Sara & Mason Discuss: Integration is Key: Patients are actively using both pharmaceuticals and natural therapies, making safety checks and collaboration essential for frontline professionals. Holistic Foundation: When patients are anxious or chronically sick, health professionals must inquire about the core non-negotiables: sleep, hydration, gut health, and vitamin D. Safety First: Integrative care is defined by leveraging the best of both worlds under conditions of structure, accountability, and paramount safety. The Bridge Role: Pharmacists and GPs are positioned to bridge the knowledge gap, authorizing patients to safely add supportive tools to build health and reduce reliance on drugs. Taoist Caution: The principle of Fú Zhèng (Protect the Upright) guides pivoting away from interactive herbs (like turmeric) toward non-interactive, harmonizing options to support the body's metabolic capacity to heal. Skill Stacking: True intelligence requires integrating seemingly opposing ideas, such as loving rigorous science/math while simultaneously leading with heart and a deep soul. Healing the Healer: Recognizing the necessity of grounding rituals—quiet moments, nature, and exercise—is essential for healers to maintain health and prevent burnout. About Sara:
Sara is an experienced pharmacist, community health advocate, and the Lead Pharmacist at Pharmacy 777 Pascoe Vale in Victoria. With over 20 years in the profession, Sara has played a significant role in advancing local healthcare delivery through clinical leadership, service development, and strong community partnerships.
In 2025, Sara was recognised as the VIC Pharmacist of the Year by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia and the National Winner of the Outstanding Community Pharmacist Award by Patients Australia. Recently, Sara also was awarded the 2025 International Pharmacist of the Year by the Pharmacy Innovation Assembly, are acknowledgements that reflect her growing impact across pharmacy practice.
Sara is a passionate advocate for accessible healthcare, full scope pharmacy practice, and inclusive community services. She has led major health initiatives, including school-based immunisation programs, chronic disease prevention efforts, aged care outreach, and student mentoring programs. She also established the first pharmacist-led vaccination clinic at the local neighbourhood house, expanding care to vulnerable and underserved populations.
Beyond the dispensary, Sara is a key contributor to the national Pharmacy 777 Retail Services Pharmacy Owners Working Group. She collaborates on strategies for patient-centric care, retail innovation, and sustainable business models that support both pharmacists and consumers across Australia.
Her leadership also extends far beyond the pharmacy walls. Sara is an active Rotarian and Chair of Community Services for her local Rotary Club. She is a trusted speaker at Rotary events, parliamentary forums, health panels, universities, and grassroots community gatherings, bringing both lived experience and professional expertise to the conversation.
As a solo mother of two and a dedicated health professional, Sara brings compassion, experience, and clarity of purpose to her work. She is especially committed to supporting the next generation of pharmacists and advocating for systems that deliver better outcomes for patients and communities alike.
Sara's voice is one of resilience. At just 12 years old, she was smuggled from war-tom Iraq through mountains and borders, arriving in Australia as a child refugee. Her early experiences shaped her enduring belief in equitable healthcare and the power of service, Today, she continues to build a career and legacy rooted in care, contribution, and connection, proving that it's possible to lead with strength while remaining grounded in humanity.

| #232 The Magical Gap: Why Our Ego, Politics, and Dogma Block True Healing with Peter Galle | 13 Apr 2026 | 01:26:18 | |
The chat really dives into a deep philosophical and super-practical look at healing, all sparked by Peter Galle's firsthand experience with a pretty serious health hurdle—a herpetic cold sore infection in his eye. He ran the full gamut, hitting it with conventional treatments like Valtrex alongside a ton of classic antivirals like Coptis (Huanglian) and Skullcap. But nothing was truly curative or stopping the progression of the ulcer. He was ready to give up and hit the emergency room for steroids when, as a last-ditch "recesses of my mind" shot, he took a large dose of St. John's wort internally. Peter describes a near-instant, profound cooling effect, and the infection began to resolve. This miraculous, boundary-pushing moment opens up the main thesis of the conversation: the deep, messy intersection of medicine, politics, and personal philosophy. Peter and you talk about the frustration of the "magical gap" that exists between highly institutionalized, textbook-based medicine (TCM, Naturopathic, or conventional) and the unique, individual healing path. You both stress that medicine is at its best when it is pragmatic, clear, and focused on the patient's best outcome—calculating the risk of a harsh intervention (like short-term steroids for joint destruction) against the long-term consequences. The biggest hurdles aren't just the pathogens; they're the practitioners' internal politics and the ego-driven desire to make their own worldview or model right. The conversation broadens to the macro-level: how our non-integrated, moralizing medical system—and even humanity's inappropriate relationship with the Earth—prevents us from truly seeing and honoring the unique path to healing for the suffering individual. Ultimately, the path forward is rooted in humility and a non-judgmental approach to meeting the patient where they are. Peter & Mason discuss: St. John's Wort "Magic": High-dose St. John's wort resolved a stubborn eye infection when other treatments failed. Pragmatism Over Dogma: Choose the most effective, lowest-risk treatment—even if it mixes approaches. Flaw in the Model: No medical system is complete; all are shaped by cultural limits. Healing "Gap": Standard treatments don't always work due to individual differences. Individual Uniqueness: Treat each patient as unique; personal response matters as much as studies. Internal Politics: Ego and bias can hinder effective treatment decisions. Humility & Integration: True healing requires humility and blending different medical approaches. | #231 What's the Wall? Removing the Roadblocks to True, Deep-Seated Healing with Eddie Enever | 24 Mar 2026 | 01:10:42
Boom. So, we dove in deep with Eddie Enever on the brutal reality of chronic disease, specifically cancer. The big kicker is that it's not just a physical problem, is it? He frames it—and this is a real stake in the ground—as a "disease of disconnection," forcing you right up against your own mortality. Having walked that gnarly path himself, from Stage 1 all the way to Stage 4, Eddie's insight as a practitioner is monumental.
The absolute linchpin, the central theme we hit on, is agency—getting your sovereignty back. It's about taking total, personal control over your healing. No more abdicating your power to the doctor's orders, and definitely no spiritual bypassing with a purely "woo-woo" approach. Eddie's clear: first priority is stabilizing the physical body with real-world treatments and protocols—the "curative path." But for true, lasting, deep-seated healing? That requires the "deeper journey," the "healing path," where you actually ask what those "lumps and bumps mean in the context of your whole damn life."
We're talking about sorting out the underlying nervous system stress, the anxiety, and the whole biography of how you came to "do what you do the way that you do." Without hitting that deeper inquiry, without shifting the conditions that birthed the disease in the first place, relapse is a high-probability reality. Eddie is awesome for reframing cancer, removing the "oh shit, what have I done?" self-blame by calling it a "multi-generational injury." It shifts the focus squarely onto the patient's responsibility and their innate capacity to heal. The takeaway here is huge: a patient's total conviction, their full, all-in investment in whatever path they choose—be it the conventional, the holistic, or a mix of both—can genuinely account for 50-60% of the outcome. That's the monumental power we each hold over our own prognosis. Key Takeaways: Two Journeys of Healing: Healing requires both medical treatment (physical) and inner work (psychological/spiritual). Agency is the Linchpin: Taking personal ownership of the healing journey is critical for better outcomes. Avoid Spiritual Bypassing: Don't rely only on spiritual practices—address both physical and inner aspects. Cancer as Disconnection/Injury: Seen as a disconnection or inherited "injury," shifting focus from blame to healing. Power of Conviction: Strong belief in one's treatment can significantly influence outcomes. Right Medicine, Right Time: Healing is personal—each individual must find what works best for them.
Eddie Enever is an Australian integrative health practitioner working at the intersection of metabolic oncology, functional medicine, and psychotherapy.
With over 16 years of clinical experience, and as a three-time cancer survivor himself, Eddie brings a rare blend of professional expertise and lived experience to his work with people navigating cancer, chronic illness, and complex health challenges. His approach centers on helping patients move beyond a purely tumor-focused model of care. Instead, he guides them to understand cancer as a whole-body, terrain-based condition influenced by metabolism, immune function, stress biology, and environment.
Through one-on-one consulting, workshops, and online programs, Eddie supports patients and their families to take an active, informed role in their care. His work focuses on restoring metabolic resilience, improving treatment tolerance, and helping people create conditions for better long-term outcomes—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Eddie is also the founder of BEYOND Prognosis, a free online community for people navigating cancer and healing. The platform brings together patients, practitioners, and loved ones for weekly live Q&As, educational resources, and practical discussions on integrative cancer care, treatment support, and recovery.

| #230 Results, Not Excuses: Navigating Regulation and the Limits of Science in Natural Medicine with Matte Legge | 08 Mar 2026 | 01:14:39 | |
The conversation with formulator Matt Legge pulls back the curtain on the supplement industry, framing it as a metaphysical struggle between genuine intent and the corporate Machine. Matt's journey is a hero's exile from structures like Metagenics, which prioritize efficiency over the soul of the product. This machine churns out soulless, AI-generated formulas that chase "white space," utterly neglecting the deep clinical insight of Root Cause Analysis—a meditation of the pulse. The founder's sacrifice creates the Pearl of Reciprocity, the organizational soul. The primary struggle is protecting this soul from "middle management" by constantly acting as the Chief Reminding Officer (CRO). The ultimate takeaway is a profound choice: to ethically play the regulatory puzzle with a full-spectrum approach and prioritize being the most respected—the "early bird gets the worm"—over merely being the biggest.
CORE INSIGHTS: [2:30-3:30] Critique of Claim-Driven Formulation: The core problem in the supplement industry is formulating for claims using single, trademarked extracts, disregarding the natural synergy of multi-ingredient or whole-herb formulations. [9:30-10:30] Root Cause as Clinical "Meditation": Identifying the true root cause is subjective, requiring deep clinical insight—like a "meditation" of the pulse—that goes beyond generic university diagnoses. [29:00-30:00] The Chief Reminding Officer (CRO): To combat high staff turnover ("The Wiggles Theory"), the founder must act as the "Chief Reminding Officer" (CRO), perpetually repeating the brand's foundational ethos and "campfire stories" to maintain its core cultural spirit. [35:30-36:30] Innovation Stifled by Middle Management: Middle management, lacking the company's ethos, stifled innovation by rejecting Matt's inventions because a market segment for the original ideas did not yet exist. [54:30-56:00] The Ethical Full-Spectrum Formulation Approach: Modern ethical formulation uses a nuanced approach: combining standardized extracts (for regulatory claims) with full-spectrum whole herbs to ensure nature's full synergy.
| #229: Herbal Wisdom, Taoist Principles & Essential Travel Health: The Classical Medicine Guide with Ann Cecil-Sterman | 06 Jan 2026 | 01:09:16 | |
What a profound conversation this was—a real unpacking of principles, where the philosophical meets the deeply practical.
The core of this whole thing, as we dug into with Ann Cecil-Sterman, revolves around the true action of herbs, which—from the Taoist lineage we follow—comes down to pure taste, not just some chemical breakdown. It's that deeper "flavor sensing in the stomach." My journey with Superfeast has been about living the great Yin-Yang puzzle: holding the intense contrast between deep Taoist tradition and the necessary reductionist language for Western practitioners. That dance is what yields the "pearls of reciprocity"—the philosophical gifts you get from the endeavor itself.
On a much deeper, personal layer, we dove into the conversation of living one's true blueprint—that invisible path that keeps calling you—and the absolute non-negotiable commitment to staying engaged with your purpose, no matter what external role the world tries to pin on you (like "CEO").
Finally, we hit the essential travel principles. Ann gave a brilliant reminder about how much flying is a test of our fluids. To counter the hyper-dry, sterile air of planes, the trick isn't just plain water (which is a clearer that goes straight through), but what we call slow fluids or wet food (think congees, soups, stews) to ensure that constant, deep hydration. It also requires the mental discipline of non-busyness: cultivating stillness and focusing on your main job rather than jumping into "tourist mode." It's about being a "Fremen flyer" and absorbing the wisdom of a place by simply being still. If you're ready for a reminder to stay engaged with your deepest purpose and learn essential travel health principles, this episode is for you.
[00:00:28] Herbal Action is Taste-Governed: In Classical Chinese Medicine, herbs act mainly through taste and the stomach's "flavor sensing," not chemical constituents alone. [00:03:46] The Yin-Yang Puzzle in Business: Balancing Taoist tradition with Western chemical language creates "pearls of reciprocity"—unexpected philosophical rewards. [00:04:21] Living Your True Blueprint: Stay aligned with your personal purpose and express it in any role, even as a CEO. [00:10:30] Travel's Primary Rule: Hydration: Air travel severely depletes fluids due to dry cabin air, making deep, constant hydration essential. [00:11:02] Mindful Travel: Cultivate Stillness: Avoid over-scheduling; cultivate stillness, meditate, and stay focused on your core purpose while traveling. [00:12:04] Classical Medicine's 30-Year Plan: Three stages—10 years of practice, 10 years of writing, and 10 years of mentoring new teachers. [00:17:11] Water is a "Clearer," Not a "Hydrator": Plain water flushes waste quickly but does not provide deep, lasting hydration. [00:17:55] The Power of Wet Food (Slow Fluids): Soups, congees, and stews support deep hydration through slow digestive absorption.
Practical Engagement: Prioritize Slow Fluids: Especially before and during travel, replace plain water with "slow fluids" or wet foods like congees, porridges, soups, or stews to ensure deep, sustained hydration. Practice Mindful Travel: When you travel, limit your scheduled activities (e.g., "one museum" rule) to cultivate stillness, meditate, and focus on your core purpose rather than jumping into "tourist mode." Sip, Don't Gulp: If drinking plain water on a plane, keep it coming in small sips continuously throughout the flight, not in large, isolated glasses. Cover Your Skin: Treat flying like being a "Fremen flyer." Wear covering clothes to protect your skin and minimize moisture loss in the dry cabin air.

| #228: Unveiling the Power of Dream Practice with Clarissa Gunawan | 24 Nov 2025 | 00:57:57 | |
If you've been here for a while, you know my whole focus is on returning to the roots of a path—an integrated, no-nonsense approach that actually holds up in the modern world. This conversation with Clarissa Gunawan goes straight to the core of a practice we're all doing anyway, every single night: dreaming. We move well beyond the new-age, "superhero powers" version of lucid dreaming I experimented with in my twenties, and land firmly in the grounded, embodied terrain of Daoist dream work. Clarissa lays out why this isn't abstract or esoteric fluff; it's a non-negotiable tool for self-realization, for recalibrating the day, and—ultimately—for preparing for a "good death." We dig into the massive cultural blind spot around dreams and why getting your view right is the most important part of the path. | #227 From Marketing Disconnect to Embodied Practice with Benny Fergusson | 05 Nov 2025 | 01:29:29
This episode dives deep with Benny Fergusson, a foundational member of the show, about his journey from marketing to a career focused on connection, particularly with the body. Benny recounts how his early experiences with marketing highlighted a disconnect from himself, leading him to explore inner connection. He emphasizes that true wants come from within, citing the example of herbs like ashwagandha that foster inner connection.
Benny's current work, the Neurosomatic School, is all about understanding the body and its relationship to life. He shares his personal struggles with spinal issues in his 20s, which forced him to slow down and reconnect. He critiques externalized views of the body, like those in sports, where the body is seen as a tool for tasks rather than a source of inner wisdom.
The conversation touches on the modern world's approach to bodywork, with Mason noting the proliferation of practices like weights, yoga, and meditation to keep society from "breaking." Benny introduces his "SAFE" acronym for cultivating awareness: See, Allow, Feel, Embody. He explains that true healing isn't about fixing something broken, but about allowing what is, and creating the environmental circumstances to support the body's natural healing process. He challenges the idea of "letting go" as an act of doing, emphasizing the need to develop internal reference points for states like relaxation.
Benny also discusses the importance of integrating practice into daily life, rather than separating it as a form of escapism or spiritual ego. He advocates for exploring the full spectrum of human experience, from love to hate, to truly embody qualities. He highlights the interrelationship of things in the body, using knee pain as an example where the focus should be on supporting structures like the ankle and hip, rather than just the knee itself.
The discussion then shifts to the Neurosomatic School's approach for practitioners, focusing on bringing humanity back to health and addressing the "wounded healer" dynamic. Benny stresses the importance of personal embodiment for practitioners, as you can only guide others where you've been yourself. He outlines the school's four pillars: connection, breathing, mobility, and cultivation, emphasizing a pragmatic, individualized approach rather than a "one-size-fits-all" methodology. He aims to develop "all-terrain vehicle practitioners" who can adapt their tools to different contexts and individual needs.

| #226 Leadership as Seership: Embodiment, Ancestry, and the Alchemy of Culture with Velan Cadden | 16 Oct 2025 | 01:01:23 | |
In this captivating discussion, Mason and Velan dive deep into leadership—moving past old-school hierarchies to a more custodial vibe, seeing an organization as a soul, not just a machine. Velan brings in seership—reading a culture through patient observation and awakened senses, like a mycelial network. They touch on elemental forces (earth, water, fire, air) as leadership teachers—especially water as a memory keeper. Leadership, they say, should be about self-education, letting things flow like living systems, and shedding those colonial mindsets that cut us off from our senses. They also explore the alchemy of recycling energy—turning discomfort and conflict into gold by creating space for the unspoken. Mason even drops some SuperFeast wisdom about how unacknowledged secrets can disrupt harmony, and how tension can spark new paths—like dandelions breaking through concrete. Velan wraps it up by calling for multidisciplinary education—moving from specialists to diverse thinkers—and finding common ground. He reminds Mason about enchantment, opening up new possibilities. His big advice for new leaders? Get real with your core secret—your profound why—the bedrock for any lasting impact. Mason & Velan's Highlights[00:00:37] The Living Question of Leadership If something in this conversation stirred something in you—don't rush to make sense of it. Just sit with it. Let it move through your body, your breath, your week. That's where real leadership begins—not in the doing, but in the listening. If you feel called, share this episode with someone walking that same edge of becoming. And if you haven't yet, subscribe or leave a few words in the reviews—it really helps this work find the ones who are ready to hear it. Thank You to VelanA deep bow to Velan—for the generosity of presence, for weaving wisdom that feels less like information and more like initiation. Brother, thank you for reminding us that leadership is ceremony—a remembering of how to walk well with life.

| #223 A Buddhist and a Taoist with Nicholas Giannasi | 19 Aug 2025 | 01:08:39 | |
Embark on an illuminating journey with Nicholas Giannasi in this episode, where Mason guides a profound and deeply insightful conversation that seamlessly weaves together ancient spiritual concepts with their tangible, practical applications in the fabric of everyday existence. This is not merely a surface-level discussion; it's an exploration that delves into the very heart of what it means to be human, to err, and to transcend.
From the nuanced and often misunderstood true meaning of forgiveness—revealed not as a mere act of absolution, but as a dynamic interplay of understanding and compassion—to the profound yet accessible importance of humility in an increasingly self-promotional world, Nicholas shares wisdom that resonates deeply. The conversation gracefully flows through the inevitability of change, emphasizing how embracing impermanence can liberate us from suffering and foster a deeper appreciation for the present moment. Mason and Nicholas collectively peel back the layers, revealing how ancient wisdom, distilled through centuries of profound contemplation and practice, offers an indispensable compass to navigate the intricate and often turbulent waters of the modern world. They invite listeners to discover how these timeless truths can not only illuminate our individual paths but also foster greater harmony and meaning in our lives, making the sacred visible in even the most mundane of activities. This episode promises to be a transformative listen, encouraging a shift in perspective that allows for greater peace, understanding, and authentic engagement with life's rich tapestry.
Episode Highlights: 00:01:34 - Forgiveness and Compassion: Nicholas emphasizes that true forgiveness comes from understanding another's suffering (compassion), which is love with understanding. He suggests stopping the effort to forgive and instead looking into the other person's suffering, creating space for understanding. 00:03:23 - The Importance of Space: Meditation and creating "space" are crucial for spiritual practice and achieving genuine understanding and forgiveness. 00:05:00 - Non-Clinging to "I, Me, Mine": Drawing from Buddhist teachings, Nicholas highlights that suffering arises from clinging to the illusion of a separate "I, me, or mine." True wholeness and appreciation of interconnectedness come from dropping this self-identity. 00:32:00 - The Mundane is Sacred: Both speakers agree that everyday life and seemingly mundane tasks (like "chop wood, carry water") are part of spiritual practice and that true spiritual growth doesn't necessarily mean escaping worldly obligations. 00:18:12 - Preparing for Death: The conversation touches on impermanence and preparing for death by living a grateful and aware life, free from fear and attachment. 00:13:51 - The Role of a Sense of Humor: A sense of humor is presented as an important aspect of the spiritual journey, helping to navigate suffering and the absurdities of life without becoming cynical. 00:44:10 - Jing, Qi, and Shen: The concept of Jing, Qi, and Shen is discussed, with Nicholas emphasizing that healing the soul (Shen) first allows the mind and body (Qi and Jing) to follow. Connecting with a "higher Jing" or the Dao through practice is key. 00:50:04 - Avoiding Over-Complication: Nicholas stresses keeping spiritual practices simple, as the Dao itself is "extremely simple." He notes that attachment to material possessions and the desire for wealth can lead to emptiness and unhappiness.

| #222 Re-Embodying Herbalism in the Age of AI with Stephanie Hazel | 05 Aug 2025 | 01:19:12 | |
Mason and Stephanie Hazel dive deep into the real talk about herbalism and healing in today's AI-driven world. They kick off by revisiting Stephen Harrod Buhner's "heart perception" and stress how crucial it is to actually feel that connection, especially as AI becomes more prevalent. Stephanie calls out the worrying trend of new herbalists losing touch with plants, often due to a lack of hands-on experience and over-reliance on ready-made formulations. They both hammer home the importance of sensory engagement—tasting, smelling, touching, and truly observing herbs—arguing that this embodied learning sticks with you way better than just theory.
The conversation shifts to the idea of oscillating between rational thought and embodied sensing, emphasizing that true wisdom in healing comes from blending both. Stephanie warns against getting too caught up in hyper-scientific jargon, suggesting that language grounded in sensory experience, like Chinese medicine energetics, is more accessible and effective. They link society's increasing disembodiment to mental health struggles and the addictive pull of digital spaces, offering practical tips for grounding yourself in daily life. Ultimately, they argue that AI's efficiency highlights the irreplaceable human capacity for embodied sensing and intuitive insight in healing, something no machine can replicate.
Timestamps: 00:00:34 - Heart Perception & Embodiment: Mason and Stephanie reflect on their previous conversation about Stephen Harrod Buhner's concept of heart perception and the importance of embodying this skillset, particularly in the context of rising AI. 00:01:05 - The Elder Tree Podcast & Stephen Harrod Buhner: Stephanie shares how their previous discussion inspired a tribute episode to Stephen Harrod Buhner on her podcast, The Elder Tree. 00:03:33 - The Decline of Herbalism & Lack of Embodiment: Stephanie and Mason discuss concerns about the dwindling connection to herbs among new practitioners, often due to a lack of hands-on experience and reliance on pre-compounded formulations. 00:07:20 - The Importance of Sensory Engagement with Herbs: Stephanie highlights the crucial role of taste, smell, touch, and observation in truly understanding herbs, arguing that this embodied learning is more memorable and profound than theoretical knowledge. 00:10:51 - Oscillating Between Rational and Embodied Sensing: They explore the dynamic interplay between rational analysis and embodied sensing in understanding herbs, emphasizing how a blend of both leads to deeper insights. 00:21:26 - Beyond Hyper-Scientific Language in Healing: Stephanie cautions against solely relying on scientific terminology in natural medicine, advocating for language that is grounded in sensory experience and accessible to the body, like traditional Chinese medicine energetics. 00:36:21 - The Societal Impact of Disembodiment: The conversation broadens to the wider implications of a lack of embodiment in society, linking it to mental health struggles and the addictive nature of virtual digital spaces. 00:40:51 - Cultivating Embodiment in Daily Life: Practical tips are offered for incorporating embodied practices into daily routines, such as mindful engagement with herbal supplements and spending time in nature. 00:49:10 - AI and the Future of Healing: They discuss how AI's efficiency in data analysis highlights the unique human capacity for embodied sensing and intuitive insight in healing practices, which AI cannot replicate. 01:07:44 - Yarrow and the Wounded Healer Archetype: Stephanie shares a powerful client story illustrating the "leap of insight" in diagnosis, drawing on the mythopoetic story of Yarrow to highlight the importance of non-rational understanding in healing. Resources Mentioned: Stephen Harrod Buhner's Work: Referenced for his concept of "heart perception" and sensing the metaphysical background of the world. The Elder Tree Podcast: Stephanie Hazel's podcast, which featured a tribute episode to Stephen Harrod Buhner. David Abram, Becoming Animal: Recommended for its exploration of grounding analytical thought and language into the senses. Stephanie Hazel's "The Wild Edge of Herbalism" Course: Mentioned as a way for practitioners and individuals to deepen their relationship with plants and their own intuition, with a "Plant Allies" taster option. | #221 We Are Back! Mason & Tahnee Return to the SuperFeast Podcast | 23 Jul 2025 | 00:42:44
Hello, hello, hello everybody! We are back in the podcast studio, and I, Mason Taylor, founder of SuperFeast, am resuming my role as host. Joining me today is Tahnee, who will be making occasional appearances as a guest, especially focusing on women's health and cultivation practices. Tahnee also shares about her own podcast, "Body of Wisdom."
Mason and Tahnee dive into the fascinating stage of SuperFeast's existence, discussing how the business navigates commercial demands while upholding its foundational "source essence" – the ontological storytelling that defines its purpose: "to dramatically reduce disease and degeneration, creating super humans who may enter into the realm of elderhood." They explore the "birth pain" of growing a business and draw parallels between birthing a business and birthing a child, highlighting the unique "male opportunity" in creating something tangible that lives forever.
The conversation delves into the core tenets of Daoism, particularly the concept of "from the Dao comes the one, then the two (yin yang), then the three (Jing, Qi, Shen), and from the three you get everything (the 10,000 things)." They emphasize the importance of not getting "trapped in the world of 10,000 things" – the endless details, protocols, and symptoms – and instead focusing on cultivating the "three treasures" (Jing, Qi, and Shen) for a well-rounded and meaningful life, aiming to "slide into the grave light" rather than deteriorating.
Mason expresses his desire to re-engage with the "enjoyment of the 10,000" while always linking it back to the foundational three treasures. They discuss the importance of cleansing the "heart mind" and cultivating an inner antenna to navigate life's initiations and make authentic choices. The goal is to move beyond external validation and dogma, fostering a deeply personal cultivation practice that prepares one for elderhood and a "good death."
The episode concludes with a look ahead at future topics, including interviews with practitioners and discussions about specific herbs, all framed within the context of the three treasures and the ultimate mystery of the Dao. Tahnee also shares about her "Birth Magic Course" and the upcoming "Daoist Energetics" course, inviting listeners to connect with them and stay tuned for regular episodes. It's a rich conversation about ancient wisdom applied to modern life, business, and personal well-being. We're in for a real treat today as we welcome author and doctor of classical Chinese Medicine, Ann Cecil-Sterman, on to the show. Ann is a passionate participant in the revival and preservation of the classical teaching's of acupuncture. In a societal landscape where this incredibly rich and time-honoured craft is continually being dried out and robbed of its innate magic and energetic intelligence, Ann's work is profoundly needed. Throughout this incredibly inspiring and thought provoking chat, the message we're continually left with is this; the core essence of Chinese medicine and acupuncture is derived from the concept of conservation, one that holds deep reverence for bodily energy as a finite resource. Listening to Ann share her profound wisdom with Mason is a genuine pleasure, offering a discourse that I hope all our listeners will savour and contemplate.
Ann & Mason discuss: - The historical emergence of classical acupuncture. - How the true practices of acupuncture and Chinese medicine have been diluted through colonisation. - Reducing degenerative disease with lifestyle medicine. - The connection between mental health and Kidney Essence. - Cold exposure through the lens of Chinese medicine. - The healing potential of warm water.

| #205 Sexuality & Endogenous Psychedelics with Dr Jenny Martin Part 1 | 16 Oct 2023 | 01:04:53 | |
Today on the show Mason is joined by Dr Jenny Martin to share a thought-provoking conversation around sexuality, the body's ability to manufacture DMT and other endogenous psychedelics, religion's influence on our relationship to sex, pleasure and wellbeing, and so much more! With a doctorate in psychology and a vast field of knowledge in the areas of female sexuality, consciousness, neuroscience, neuroplasticity, mind-body medicine, and the heart/brain connection, Dr. Jenny knows, from the inside out, just how powerful our body's apparatus can be, especially when we know how to use it! A passionate advocate for feminine pleasure and achieving flow states, joy and total transformation through the art (and science) of sacred sexuality, Dr. Jenny takes us on a journey through history, sharing how prevalent these practices have been for millennia within Christianity and many ancient cultures and schools of thought around the globe. Highlighting that the energetics of the masculine/feminine principle are intrinsic to life and our nature as human beings. Jenny speaks to the somewhat controversial concept that the original practice of Christianity was explored through the lens of sexuality, allowing us to entertain the notion that perhaps sexiness is next to godliness after all! In all seriousness though, what may be useful to consider in this particular context is the deeper meaning of the colloquial phrase, "cleanliness is next to godliness" If we delve a little deeper into the meaning of this concept what we're left with is the translation that keeping one's expression of life "clean" or more accurately, ordered, affords us a sense of ease through the application of balanced or measured action. We could also explore what cleanliness or order means in relationship to sexuality and through the lens of the masculine/feminine principle, which is what, at a foundational level, is being spoken of when exploring the potential to use sexual practice as a means to illicit the production of neurotransmitters and endogenous psychedelic substrates such as DMT and oxytocin. Compounds that enable us to cultivate harmony and health within the body and mind. How do we keep our expression of sexual energy "tidy" not in the inhibited or frigid sense but functionally, applied in the same manner as the master, with reverence and respect for its power and potential capability? Through the Taoist lens, sexual energy is synonymous with life force energy, so we can confidently hypothesis that the more we can optimise and utilise this currency of energy through application and practice, the more life or aliveness we can experience, hold and entertain. Dr Jenny and Mason only touched the tip of the iceberg in this explorative chat, join us for part two, coming soon.
Dr Jenny & Mason discuss: - Endogenous psychedelics. - Religion's influence on our relationship to sex, pleasure and well-being. - Sex as a way of invoking the divine. - The goddess archetype and the importance of integration when exploring sacred sexuality. - Near-death experiences and endogenous DMT. Female orgasm & the vagus nerve.

| #202 Ditching Diet Culture with Jessica Cox | 25 Sep 2023 | 01:06:14 | |
Nutritionist Jessica Cox joins Mason for an illuminating conversation around the topics of holistic health, diet culture and the connection between food, mood and gut health. With a shared passion for the healing potential that medicinal mushrooms and tonic herbs provide, Jessica and Mason joyously jam out, sharing the simple yet delicious ways these beautiful plant allies can be consumed through the daily diet while covering where they're positioned in a more clinical diagnostic setting. With 15 years experience on the ground working with people in clinic, Jessica shares how the extreme approaches to diet currently occupying the wellness space are causing more harm than good, and the work she does as a practitioner to manage expectations and shepherd her clients through lifestyle change. In this episode Jessica and Mason aim to demystify diet culture and bring awareness around the seasonal place extreme or therapeutic type diets hold, emphasising that seasons in our lives may call us to adjust our approach but ultimately dietary diversity is the key to long-lasting health. Jessica stresses the limitations of a one-size-fits-all all attitude and champions the powers of building strong foundations with a back-to-basics methodology. It's a delight to witness the camaraderie these two share as they weave the knowledge and wisdom they've individually gained through years lived thoroughly through all facets of the wellness space. Ultimately reminding us that beyond the circulation of dietary fear, confusion and dogma, exists the middle path of balance, a place where solace can be found through the practice of sensibility and moderation. A beautiful and grounded chat today, well worth the listen for beginners and those in the know. Enjoy.
Jessica & Mason discuss: - Extreme diet culture and the harm it causes. - The connection between food, mood, and emotions. - The practitioner/client relationship and the importance of trust in creating positive treatment outcomes. - Ego, practitioner as god, and helping the person in front of you. - Dairy and calcium. - Dietary diversity and gut health. - Anti-nutrients and the myths surrounding them. - The clinical and nutritional use of medicinal mushrooms.

| #200 Conscientious Parenting Part 1 with Mason & Tahnee Taylor | 04 Sep 2023 | 00:55:29 | |
Mason and Tahnee Taylor come together today in celebration of our 200th episode for a special conversation on one of our most requested areas of interest; conscious parenting. The pair prefer the term "conscientious engaged parenting", highlighting how they endeavour to use awareness as a tool in their approach to family culture and raising their two children, Aiya and Leo. It is lovely to have Mason and Tahnee sharing the mic to shed light on their very human, and very humble take on conscious parenting, highlighting the importance of a grounded approach that champions all parents regardless of their societal disposition or socioeconomic means. Both Mason and Tahnee engage with a style that is rooted in a strong foundation of adaptation, learning and integration. Tahnee speaks to the difference in hardships faced by children of prior generations who were exposed to famine and war, those who had a responsibility to the family far beyond their years, how many children in the current age are completely removed from these types of stressors, and how that informs their innate resilience and ability to intercept worldly challenges. Mason shares the importance of operating from a place of non judgement and appreciating how difficult it can be to raise children in a society that is grossly removed from sustainable ways of living, both at the socioeconomic and nature based levels. Emphasising it is more about working to co-evolve with society than to completely override it. A grounded, inspired and thought provoking chat today, and like most endeavours in life, honour is found in the volition of the intention rather than the perfection of the execution. Enjoy.
Mason & Tahnee discuss: - What the concept of "conscious parenting" means to them. - Using boundaries to create closeness and connection as parents and children grow and evolve. - The modern day coddling of children through societal regulation. - The power of co-regulation in diffusing challenging parenting situations. - Parenting through the lens of Taoism; the Spleen and how it's connected to the mother wound. - Learning from elders and honouring the past while embracing new ways of being and doing. - Conscious uncoupling. - The importance of continually making space to tend to the relational union.

Within the dialog shared around the practice of self pleasure, Rosie highlights the importance of curating a relationship with pain, emphasising the prevalence of numbness that many women commonly suffer from within their yoni space. Rosie puts forward that the process of transforming numbness into pleasure is alchemical and involves an entire spectrum of sensation which may include physical and emotional pain. Rosie goes on to champion the power of holding oneself through this process and re-iterates that self pleasure is a self lead healing practice where anything can come up, in, out and through for release. As with any journey of self knowledge the heroine will be asked to delve into the subterranean depths of her body and psyche, her liberation guided by her willingness to meet whatever arises on her path of embodiment. A potent, juicy, fun and refreshing exploration into the realms of feminine pleasure today, take a moment and dive in.

| #197 Vedic Healing with Dylan Smith | 24 Jul 2023 | 01:07:27 | |
Dylan Smith of Vital Veda joins Mason on the show today for an expansive conversation around the Vedic sciences, and how to use the natural lores on which these were founded to formulate your life from a place of flow rather than friction. Dylan is certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and holistic health educator who uses the vast depth and breadth of his knowledge to help, to heal and to teach. Drawn to the craft through his own initiating experiences of Panchakarma, Dylan's path is one of well trodden embodiment. Dylan unfurls his knowledge and wisdom in a gentle and considered way, sharing how the practical application of this ancient philosophy can assist in the very tangible material decisions one is required to make in their every day life, such as where to live, where to work, how to eat, when to evolve a relationship and more. In Ayurveda it is said that the number one quality for successful healing is to surrender to the hands of the healer; the physician. Dylan shares the concept of hasta vasti; the power of the hand that heals, explaining that it is not so much the herb or the method that elicits the medicine but the that hand it comes from. In a contemporary climate where regulators and governing bodies have the dominion to inhibit and repossess the credentials of a practitioner based solely on their capacity to concede to the law and order of obligation, what is left for the sovereign individual in which these choices don't align? The hands the heal. What Dylan is speaking to through the lens of hasta vasti is the inherent power of the healers touch, the aura, the energy, life force, Prana, Qi or seeming magic that works through the body of the practitioner as a conduit of harmony. When the apparatus is taken away and the herbs held hostage to capitalistic greed, what's left over is the craft, the heightened sensory system, trained meticulously to perceive, to feel, to hear and to know. There is so much potency in this, this is nature based wisdom, universal to all beings. The hands of the healer could be the hands of the practitioner you hold dearly in esteem, these hands could also belong to you, perhaps the most powerful healer of all; the self. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation, may it bring inspiration and insight.
Dylan & Mason discuss: - How to use the Veda's to manufacture your life in alignment with the universal flow. - Vedic Astrology. - Yin and Yang through the Vedic lens, and how this philosophy can be applied to the practicalities of being and doing. - The inception of Ayurveda and Chinese medicine into Western allopathic medicine. - The future of holistic health practice beyond regulation. - Dhanvantari and initiation of the Ayurvedic healer. - The guru/disciple relationship. - Karma and trust as key elements in healing. - Jyotish herbology.

| #195 Embodiment & Trauma with Dr Mario Alam | 26 Jun 2023 | 00:59:43 | |
The wonderful Dr Mario Alam joins Mason on the show today to share a genuine and open hearted conversation centred on the nature of empathy and connectivity, and how these elements are innately wired into our universal humanity. Mason and Mario traverse the somatic and cerebral landscapes as they explore how unresolved trauma at both the childhood and multigenerational level can interfere with our inherent capacity to confidently feel, rather than think our way through life. Mario highlights what happens at a physiological level when the body and mind experience prolonged stress (emotional and physical) and the many tools and practices one can use to release tension in these areas and the being as a whole. Throughout this conversation we can feel the open tone of receptivity as Mason and Mario share this important dialogue, relaying the personal experiences that have influenced them individually on their journeys toward a life lived from an embodied state. We explore the therapeutic outcomes that are available through the appropriate application of various psychedelic mediums, including MDMA, psilocybin, DMT and iboga, especially in the treatment of addiction and other mental health conditions. Mario and Mason cover an enormous amount of ground within the scope of holistic healthcare, carrying an overarching message that embodiment is key when working to restore harmony within the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual planes. Emphasis is placed on the importance of honouring the intricacies of the mind/body connection and the integrative process that is so integral to healing, but often missing from more unilinear modalities of health. Two kindred spirits, on a mission in their own right, to alleviate unnecessary suffering and degeneration, uniting through a passionate exchange to vision a harmonious and vibrantly well future.
Dr Mario & Mason discuss: - Empathy; how to utilise this gift and move it through the body. - How trauma impairs our ability to trust the sensations of the feeling body. - Using acupuncture and kinesiology to help children process their somatic experiences and emotions. - How trauma impacts the body's physiology. - The prolific application of steroidal medicine in the Western medical model. - Using Taoist tonic herbs to regulate the body and nervous system. - Micro dosing psilocybin and neuronal connectivity. - The power of Psychedelic assisted therapies in the treatment of mental health conditions.

| #194 Jing; The Pilot Light Of Potential with Mason Taylor | 12 Jun 2023 | 00:36:32 | |
In celebration of #30daysofJING; our annual soiree into the depths of Kidney Water and Jing Essence - the primordial lifeblood of our very existence - we're taking a trip down memory lane, showcasing an episode from the archives (EP#166), in which Mason, our favourite larrikin and main herbal man, passionately explores why something as simple as including Jing herbs into your daily diet, consecutively for 30 days, can create life changing results. In our modern landscape of living we're surrounded by the notion of *more, whether that's the desire for more money, more freedom, more rights, more comfort, more knowledge, intellect, a new car! Do we ever stop to think however, that the energy behind this messaging to strive for more, to consume or take, also requires us to give? The currency of that giving is funded by our bodily resources, it's the mental processing required to operate a computer program, app or smart phone, the physical strength it takes to carry the groceries to the car, to weed the garden, the agility to chase the grandkids around the park, to engage in a daily movement practice, the discipline required to keep up with personal admin, chores, the visceral material needed to be able to dream and vision, to create, prioritise, compartmentalise and execute. This giving currency is our Jing, our Kidney Qi, it's the innate stuff we're born with, passed on from our ancestors, from our mum and dad. Jing is the primal Essence of our life. Cultivation practices are essential if we are to adapt to and make the most of this wild and wonderful life, the more available potential we have stored, the more we're able to materialise, and by more I don't mean the physical accumulation of stuff, it's more capacity to face challenges with grace, more courage to fiercely love through our shared humanity, more emotional resilience so we can harvest knowledge from the experiences we encounter and transform it into wisdom that can be used to nurture, teach, influence and inform. The messages in Mason's words may have been transmitted many months ago but the potency still rings true, after all this wisdom is thousands of years old, and it's simple; embrace your cyclic nature, and that of the seasons, take good care of your body, mind and Spirit through appropriate thoughts and actions, and most of all, considerately nourish your Kidneys so you can hold your health in own hands and confidently lead yourself through your lived experience informed by your own personal flavour of sovereignty. A potent chat today; simple actions, powerful outcomes.
Mason explores: - What Jing Essence is at its core. - The quintessential Jing herbs of the Taoist tonic system. - The relationship between Jing Essence and the Kidney's. - The Yin/Yang transformation cycle. - How to protect and cultivate Jing essence. - Setting an intention for the 30 days of JING. - Addiction and excess in the western lifestyle - The deep recesses of Kidney Water. - Creating rhythms in our life that create automated flow. - How 30 days of JING can positively influence vitality and longevity.

| #193 Cold Therapy & Breath Work with Benjamin Berry | 29 May 2023 | 01:12:18 | |
Benjamin Berry or Your Mate Benny as he's fondly known, joins Mason on the podcast today to chat about the medicinal value of functional breath work and cold therapy. Benny came into the global spotlight at the time of the infamous flooding that decimated much of the Northern Rivers landscape in 2022. As a civilian on the ground responding to the needs of his community, Benny's presence began permeating the wider populace via a series of Instagram posts calling for stronger government intervention, many of which received thousands if not millions of views. Throughout the flood relief effort, what Benny did was show us that with persistence, heart and authentic care; people power works. People can only be as powerful as they are adaptable, which leads us to the theme of today's episode; how the practices of breath work and cold exposure can create mental, physical and emotional resilience when applied appropriately. Throughout this conversation, we get a sense of just how potent the effects of these practices can be, especially when an individual is faced with a challenging situation. Benny carries a distinctly reassuring calm and grounded energy, one that is reinforced by the daily lifestyle habits he keeps and shares through his powerful work. Like any health-promoting protocol that rises to fame, there is plenty of misunderstanding and misinformation around the useful application of breath work and cold therapy, so it is a great pleasure to have Benny, one of the leading Australian advocates for these crafts, on the show today to graciously guide us through. Enjoy.
Benny & Mason discuss: - The role of community at times of big life transition. - Benny's involvement in the Northern Rivers 2022 flood relief effort. - The importance of using integrity when holding space in breath work ceremony, and how this influences positive outcomes. - The experiences that lead Benny to the work he offers today. - The difference between true ice bathing and cold immersion.

| #191 The Path Of The Wounded Healer with Dr. Jimi Wollumbin | 08 May 2023 | 00:55:37 | |
Today we welcome back the poetic and exquisitely wonderful Dr. Jimi Wollumbin, one of our beloved local medicine men and regular SuperFeast podcast guests. From the first few minutes of this conversation Jimi does what Jimi does best and dissolves the armouring around our collective heart as he eloquently speaks to the harrowing yet beautifully humbling path of the healer. The wounded one within all of us, that through necessity, is given no other choice but to be a student of its lived experience. Jimi and Mason speak of the alchemical process, of Taoist fog walking, of the medicine contained in the shadows of life, the places pregnant with transformative possibility, the tunnels we fear to enter despite knowing there is light at the end. Through this conversation we're taken on a journey that calls us to embrace the entire spectrum of our human experience, to know strife as a teacher equal in esteem to love. We're reminded of the deficit of life that light-washing leaves us in, to honour the gradient of emotion in between what is "good" and what is "bad" because after all our misery is universal, and so is our joy. We all breathe, bleed, love, despair, succeed and fail. Just as the revolution of natures seasonal wheel inevitably turns, rising and falling, growing and decaying, so too do we; rise, fall, grow and decay, and it is these very innate, very human, very necessary processes that allow us to evolve, to adapt, to renew and to regenerate. To be alive in our living. This was a very special conversation, it is my sincere wish that you draw as much solace from it as I did.
Mason & Jimi discuss: - Initiation and walking the medicine path. - Love and Strife as the Western translation of Yin and Yang. - Ego death, surrender and soul growth. - The absence of cultural lore and rights of passage in our modern systems of living, and the impact that has on our psychology at both an individual and collective level. - Using seasonal imagery to guide you through the transitional phases of life. - Adaptation as a necessary and very innate aspect of life. - Jing Essence, the reserve that fuels our capacity to transmute challenging circumstances. - Resilience, hormetic stress and the power of integration. - Befriending your grief.
