| Georgie Vicars (Designer) | 31 Mar 2024 | 00:54:20 | |
In episode 3 of season 13, I chat with Georgie Vicars, founder of Jamoo. Like’s the label’s name suggests, Jamoo and Georgie alike are one of a kind. Inspired by the Australian coast, Jamoo is a playful pastiche of the past presenting itself in patch-worked pieces put together from a legion of repurposed towels Georgie has hunted, hoarded and handpicked. While Georgie likes to live in a moment and may still be mapping out her ensuing adventures, Jamoo stands as a reflection of her free childhood spent barefoot on the beach and sailing in the pacific paired with her care for craft and her talent for textiles. Amped up by sustainable ethics and a reverence for all things retro, the fabric of Georgie’s style and her story is one that feels bold yet benevolent, carefree but kind, and both cool and warm all at the same time.
| Rosie Cremer (Burlesque Performer) | 20 Dec 2020 | 00:48:18 | |
In the finale of season three, I chat with Rosie Cremer, better known as burlesque stage sensation Rosie Rivette. While Rosie may be famous for baring it all, what clothes she puts on prove to be as revealing as what she takes off. Rosie’s colourful style references the great pin-up girls of the past, not just for their girly glamour but for their kookiness, curves, and comedy. And while Rosie may take inspiration from days of old, she offers a modern magic to both her personal and performance spaces by planning a little of the unpredictable, paying it forward, and providing a playful energy that always aims to please.

| Christian Wilkins (Actor, Model, Influencer) | 13 Dec 2020 | 00:46:08 | |
In episode five of season three, I chat with actor and model Christian Wilkins, infamous son of Aussie TV legend Richard Wilkins and humble ambassador of the Wayside Chapel Op Shop. While Christian wears many hats he proudly holds the crown of his princely moniker with his defining long locks, love of all things sparkles and hopelessly romantic desire for good to triumph over evil. His life however is not pure fantasy. While he does love to live by the pleasure principle, it’s his quick, self-deprecating wit, desire to spark joy, and commitment to community that are the defining elements of this Prince’s shiny, sequin-wearing style.

| Penny Lawson (Cheesemonger) | 06 Dec 2020 | 00:43:16 | |
In episode four of season three, I chat with Penny Lawson, self-diagnosed curd nerd, and owner of Potts Point’s favourite fromagerie, Penny’s Cheese Shop. Like any good cheese, Penny’s style is a recipe of simple ingredients with signature flavours that offer a little bit of bite while evoking the wholehearted country goodness of where they hail from. And while she’s travelled far and wide and her signature style includes French Breton stripes and Kansas-connotative red shoes, Penny is a proud proponent of Australia and its produce and proves it’s her style to ensure there’s no place like home.

In episode three of season three, I chat with prolific portrait photographer, Gary Heery. Whether it be flowers, birds, or the wonderful ways of the Wayside Chapel, Gary has a universal ability to embrace all walks of life and capture the true essence of character. And while Gary is not into labels, whether it be on his clothes or in person, his style like his work, is eclectic, straight-shooting, and always able to draw you into a story.

In episode two of season three, I chat with Tyrel Dulvarie, a proud Yirriganydji man and dancer with the Bangarra Dance Theatre. Bangarra’s mission is to create inspiring experiences that change society however Tyrel is doing this all on his own. Hailing from far North Queensland, Tyrel has always dreamt big and dance has been his vehicle to see the world. While Tyrel embraces his history and connection to family, dance has given him the spin to express his unique flair for fashion and be a source of inspiration to those who want to embrace the bold and the beautiful. Tyrel has recently found himself at home in Potts Point, a place where he still dreams big and is able to dance to the beat of his own drum.

In episode one of season three, I chat with Bianca Raess, vintage fashion maestro and coordinator of the Wayside Chapel Op Shop. While Bianca stands as a beloved fixture in the Wayside community, graciously serving both those who give and those in need, her own life has travelled a varied path that has seen her take on diverse roles ranging from fruit picker to young mum to aspiring actress. Bianca’s fashion choices may also have followed various twists and turns but it’s always been her style to consider community and add a little vintage charm to her look.

| Introducing Season 3 | 08 Nov 2020 | 00:26:46 | |
It’s needless to say that 2020 has been a challenging year for most but a personal highlight has been finding my new creative home in the historic district of Potts Point in Sydney. For Season 3 of Style Stories I wanted to honour this vibrant community and celebrate coming together. What better way to do this than to partner with a community organisation that brings life and laughter to those who need it most, like the Wayside Chapel, the heart and soul of Potts Point, a Sydney village which has been likened to New York and Paris. Like these great cities, Wayside joyfully embraces diversity and brings together all walks of life in many creative ways but notably through it’s Op Shop, which is renown for being a treasure trove of donated designer digs as well as a vital source of support for the organisation. Of course I talk all things style with my guests this season however I also hope to honour their stories by highlighting their contribution to their community not only through their creative pursuits but by looking good, feeling good and most significantly doing good. To help introduce Season 3, I spoke with CEO and Pastor of the Wayside Chapel, Jon Owen, whose human spirit and contribution to community echoes through all the upcoming episodes of Style Stories. I hope you can sit back relax and enjoy our conversation. Produced by MITT Work.
| Concluding Season 2 | 08 Oct 2020 | 00:04:53 | |
Season 2 has come to a close and as I conclude this series it has been announced that Lucio’s will be closing it’s Paddington doors in a few short months. It’s been a pleasure to call Lucio’s home for Season 2 and relishing all the tales of food, family and art it tells within it’s walls. It will be sad to say good-bye to such an institution but it feels special to play a humble yet timely part in it’s story.
| Silvia Colloca (Food Celebrity) | 24 Sep 2020 | 00:42:49 | |
In the season finale of season two, I chat with Silvia Colloca, Italian born food writer, TV producer, and host. Silvia comes with an impressive cache of creative titles, which also include opera singer and actress, however, her recipe for self-expression is simple and like her cooking aims to honour the core ingredients. Silvia was raised in Milan, but it’s her more humble Abruzzo roots that define her understated sensuality, her serious humour, and her unadorned passion. And it’s this delicious mix of contrasting ingredients that makes Silvia’s style so intriguing and so enticing.

| Stavroula Adameitis aka Frida Las Vegas (Designer) | 17 Sep 2020 | 00:54:37 | |
In episode five of season two, I chat with Stavroula Adameitis, artist & designer better known by her moniker Frida Las Vegas. Hailing from Adelaide, Stav’s kitsch and clever designs are personal hallmarks of her history and offer nostalgic references to her beloved ‘Oz-traliana’. If Chico Rolls, Passiona, and the much-shunned bin chicken resonate with your Australian sensibilities, you’ll be sure to glean joy from Stav’s bombastic designs. It’s hard to separate Stav from Frida but either way, she wears her heart on her sleeve and exudes a delicious self-confidence we’d all like to get a taste of.

Originally from Indonesia, Evi cut her teeth in design in the Sydney food publishing world, gaining a reputation for her clean-cut aesthetic, and balanced designs. | Gary Bigeni (Fashion Designer) | 03 Sep 2020 | 00:32:41
In episode three of season two, I chat with fashion designer, Gary Bigeni, known in the industry as much for his considerate hand on draping as he is for his flamboyant personal style. Whilst Gary’s designs pay reverence to a women’s shape, they also embrace his love of art and sometimes food, making him an ideal guest at Lucio’s. Having designed chefs uniforms, Gary is almost as popular in the food community as he is in the fashion world and sites Melissa Leong of Masterchef fame as one of his nearest and dearest. Despite the colourful bravado, it’s his grounded nature and hard-working ethos that makes him so likable and helps us come to understand the pure joy that comes with his bright and sometimes brazen style.

In episode two of season two, I chat with Briony Fitzgerald, Sydney-based Interior Designer, known for layering her masterful application of colour, fabric and texture to many beautiful homes and the occasional Michelin-star restaurant. Briony lays claim to being the daughter of late television pioneer Bruce Gyngell and revered interior designer, Ann Gyngell. Despite the bright lights and bold colour that fabricated Briony’s childhood she’s developed a tailored and understated style and saves the bells and whistles to her designs, allowing her work to be the star of the show.

Whilst Lucio’s represents the old guard of Sydney eateries, Ali is part of a new wave of the industry, reviving iconic venues with heart, guts, and vision. And it’s this energetic and soulful grit that feeds through all Ali does, whether it be PR girl, restaurant owner, or mum. But most importantly it defines her unique sense of style.

| Introducing Season 2 | 06 Aug 2020 | 00:25:30 | |
The inspiration for Season 2 of Style Stories was born out of a desire to get out of the house, however, in choosing a location it was important to find a place that had style and charm but still felt like home. Naturally, I was beyond thrilled when the iconic restaurant Lucio’s generously invited me into their family-run business to film and record this series.
Lucio’s is a personal family favourite for a few reasons, namely, it holds memories of a heavily pregnant me having my last long lunch just prior to giving birth to each of my children.
Anyone who has had the pleasure of dining there can give testament to its innate style which pervades through its traditional culinary delights, the art-filled walls, and warmly felt family-run hospitality especially from the man himself Lucio Galletto.
As an introduction to the series, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Lucio where he proudly speaks of his restaurant as a lifestyle. A lifestyle that’s beautifully brought together with his Ligurian heritage, his devotion to food, his passion for art, and his beloved family.

Not only has she been able to embody the spirit of ‘keep calm and carry on’ through COVID she has done it with an upbeat enthusiasm and a smile on her face. While Libby sways from simple comforts to purpose drive performance wear it’s always her style to be active and bring her whole self to all that she does. She wears her heart on her sleeve and it’s her boundless energy, her ability to build a community and her desire to make everyone around her just a little bit happier that has kept me and so many others moving through this challenging time. She has put smiles on so many faces and I know has been a central part of defining my style at home.

A self-proclaimed migrant matriarch, Camilla is the CEO of The Social Outfit, a charitable organization whose mission is to empower refugee and new migrant women through employment and training in one fashion forward movement. Camilla’s story convinces us to think outside the square by not only understanding the power of freedom in our own self-expression but by refreshing our thinking around what real humanity in fashion can look and feel like. For the first episode of the new year, I chat with Charlotte Dallison, author, writer & vintage fashion aficionado. By sharing her story, Charlotte provides a gracious guide on how to think about style, including how her take on manifestation helped refresh not only her style but her story. And while she still holds on to some of the small-town sentiments of her Christchurch upbringing, her desire to be fabulous and live a big life is sending her to Hollywood where her old world glamour and “Some Like it Hot” style will offer a refreshing change to Tinseltown.

As we wrap up Season 12, Stories with Heart, it seems only fitting I share a story, also told through Aminata's autobiography Rising Heart, that’s full of passion, strength and life. A former refugee from Sierra Leone, Aminata has seen unimaginable trauma and a gentle warning, this episode does contain sensitive material. Aminata may take hold of her own story however she never lets adversity define her style. Instead, she exudes an infectious deep-seated confidence that carries the unabashed colour and charisma she graciously wears on her sleeve. And while she may have been taught to find beauty from within it’s her style to act out and impel others to do the same.
| Rachael Johns (Author) | 05 Nov 2023 | 00:48:47 | |
In Episode 6 of Season 12, I chat with Rachael Johns, best-selling author and prominent voice in contemporary relationship stories focusing on women's issues. She has coined the term 'life-lit,' delving into the intricacies of female relationships and the desire to belong. As this season focuses on stories with heart it's only fitting to talk with Rachael as she launches her latest romance novel, "Talk to the Heart". Rachael's narratives offer a joyful escape from what she would call “the depressing stuff” and she invites her readers to embrace the happiness she believes everyone deserves. But Rachael's ability to spread joy doesn’t stop with her stories and whether it’s her passion for all things pink or her extensive collection of earrings from independent designers, it’s her style to always spread the love.

| Nathale Thaipun (Masterchef Winner of Season 16) | 27 Aug 2024 | 01:12:21 | |
In Episode 7 of Season 13, I chat with Nat Thaipun, who we may know as the winner of this season's MasterChef, but to her friends, she's Nat Wolf. Wolf like in adventure, energy and passion, Nat and I go deep. And as we peel back the layers to her story, we find this stealth strength is actually a mechanism for finding purpose. Cooking may have now centred her, but Nat still doesn't mind living life on a knife's edge. And her ambitious live large approach has given her the tools to creatively curate diverse cultural cues and masterfully turn them into something modern and visionary. Whether it's her love for vintage fashion, crafting a kangaroo lab or an array of meaningful tattoos, it's Nat's style to honour history for both her story and others, but keep it contemporary and always make it cute.
