68: God, You & the Calling to Speak (Encore Episode)20 Dec 202100:13:59

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

Have you ever been curious about what my favorite episode is? Today you are in luck! This episode I did last November is my favorite. If you take anything from today's episode, remember - Calling OVER Confidence.

ACTIVATE is starting back up in early 2022! You will want to be on the waitlist to access a huge discount. Who doesn't love a good discount? Go to my website and click ACTIVATE to sign up for the waitlist.

Confidence is NOT required to be a speaker. Granted, you will be nervous on stage. The great thing is that people won't notice your nervousness - trust me, they honestly won't. You're not going to want to miss this!

"God has uniquely equipped you with a message only you can deliver. Yes, only you. Even if you have a message that closely resembles another speaker's message — you have unique relationships, experiences, and opportunities that make your message unique." - Mary R Snyder.

Highlights from our conversation include:

  • Why are you a speaker (2:07)
  • Are you walking worthy of the calling you received? (2:46)
  • What's one thing you've done today to walk out in your calling? (4:40)
  • What is God calling you to do today? (6:31)
  • Create a SMART goal (8:36)
  •  It's not a no; it's a not right now (10:03)
  • We're going to link arms in this (11:36)

Your calling trumps your confidence. You are called to deliver your God-given message to the people God's places in your path. Keep your eyes open and move forward in your calling. Have you found your calling over confidence? I'd love it if y'all came to join the conversation in the Facebook group-Take the Stage Speakers and share with us! Or feel free to ask questions. 60: Do You Trust God with Your Dream with Jenny Randle25 Oct 202100:30:21

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

Today on Take The Stage, Jenny Randle joins me again, and we dive into some excuses that speakers may have, and we’ll talk about her new book that launched today, Dream Come True.

Jenny Randle is an Emmy®-award winning editor who went on a journey to discover what it really means to live on purpose. From a career in the heart of Hollywood editing for billion-dollar franchises to a faith-based leader, her voice and work have been featured in hundreds of notable films, print, and media outlets, including MGM Studios, DreamWorks, and PBS Television.

In early 2018, Jenny and her husband, Matt, formed Freedom Creatives, an organization that helps people grow their faith, get unstuck, and level up so they can unapologetically live and work for Jesus. Freedom Creatives provides classes, coaching, and in-person and online community and events. Their ministry has international reach from a small island in Northern Florida, where they reside with their two children.

Jenny's search for meaning in the everyday moments of life has led her to develop resources that merge profound Gospel-centered truths with practical application. She's the co-host of the fun and faith-filled podcast — Shut the Should Up. Jenny is the author of Courageous Creative, Getting to Know God's Voice, and her newest book, Dream Come True: A Practical Guide to Pursue the Adventures God Has for You. Jenny champions leaders, creatives, and procrastinating dreamers to dream on for the glory of God and good of others.

Be sure to tune in as Jenny and I talk through some speakers' excuses that she covers in her book. And make sure you stay until the end because Jenny turns the tables and asks me a question.

"If I didn't feel nervous, I would be worried because then I wouldn't have to rely on God. So it's that reminder that this whole thing isn't about us. " - Jenny Randle.

Highlights from today include:

  • What is Dream Come True about (1:33)
  • Deferring her dream (2:37)

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

Today I'm diving into speaking at hybrid events. We see more and more this coming out of the pandemic and the shutdown of live events. People are uneasy with the idea of live events and traveling, and a hybrid event allows the event planner to have a live event and meet the needs of those who aren't able to attend live.

Be sure to tune in as I give you some tips on speaking to a hybrid audience and who to go to for recommendations before you get on stage.

"What I do know is that you have a God given message. That whether you're presenting it in a virtual space, in a live space, or this new hybrid space, God has gifted you and entrusted you with this message." - Mary R Snyder.

  • Negotiating fees is a little different (2:57)

  • Connecting with two audiences at the same time (11:22)
  • Find your tech team, and ask them this (14:02)
  • Practice, review, are you connecting with the audience (16:13)

Who's ready to record their message and then review it? Have y'all already done this? Come to the Facebook group and share with us! Or feel free to ask questions. Not on Facebook? No worries, you can always find me on Instagram! I would love for you to share with me.

You are in for a special treat for today's episode of, Take the Stage - for Speakers by Speakers. I've invited two of my students who recently went through the first iteration of ACTIVATE, and they are here to talk about what the program means to them.

Listen as Samantha shares how she would go wherever and had a hard time saying she was a speaker to already booking out two events next year.

  • What was something that she didn't expect to learn going through ACTIVATE? (11:59)

49: What Kind of Speaker are You with Linda Sidhu09 Aug 202100:20:59

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

Linda Sidhu is a list-building expert and strategic partner with Interact (the quiz platform), who helps entrepreneurs create irresistible personality quizzes that bring hundreds of new subscribers on autopilot.

As a former top ten pharmaceutical sales representative, she had extensive training in personality types. She took the same methods that worked for selling products face-to-face and turned them into a personality quiz framework that converts views to leads at 70% and helps craft personalized marketing for her customers.

Linda walks us through how she started creating quizzes and what personality tests she uses. We also discuss how my quiz will help you identify who you are, how that impacts the way you speak and present, and how you communicate with the people you want to book you. Y'all don't want to miss this episode and where you can find my quiz!

Highlights are:

  • (3:01) How did Linda get started in the quiz world?
  • (6:42) What kind of personality test did Linda use to create my quiz?
  • (10:42) There are four different speaker types, and each one is right.
  • (12:22) What goes into the process to create a quiz?

Doesn't Linda have a cool job! Who's excited to take the quiz? Come and continue the conversation in my Facebook group. I'd love to hear the results of your quiz and your thoughts.

42: Humor And Your Message14 Jun 202100:12:28

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

Today's episode, I'm going to be completely transparent with y’all, has been more complicated than I thought it would be. We will cover humor in our message, and to be honest, I thought it would be easy! I've found that explaining humor is impossible.

What makes people laugh? If y’all shrugged your shoulders, you are not alone! Even people with big degrees, all the letters after their name, don't know why we laugh at what we do. Our opinions of what is funny are going to be different because of our life experiences.

"Humor is something that God has given us to connect to our people."

Join me as I talk about how to put humor in your message and:

  • Why humor is important (2:23)
  • Humor breaks down the barrier between you and your audience (2:35)
  • The reason I love to intersperse humor in my message (3:16)
  • God has a great sense of humor (3:31)
  • I'm not talking about big floppy shoes and red noses (4:12)
  • Taking the audience to a deep dark place and lightening the room with humor (4:35)
  • Example of adding humor into your message (5:03)
  • Sometimes it's not the joke that you're telling but the way you tell it (7:35)
  • Humor permits them to laugh, then to listen (8:26)
  • What if they don't laugh at your joke (9:05)
  • Words of caution (9:33)
  • You don't have to be a comedian (11:22)

I appreciate y’all being here today. I want to hear how you will use humor in your message. Or let me know if you are already using it!

Join the Facebook group and get ready to do a challenge on humor. Not on Facebook? No worries, find me on Instagram! I would love for y’all to share with me how it is going for you.

40: Storytelling And Your Message31 May 202100:15:43

I would love to hear from you! Send me a text

In this episode, we cover the next step to Take the Stage, storytelling and your message! In May, we covered: What to Wear on the Stage, Does a Speaker Need a Website, Going Public as a Speaker, Getting Booked, and Developing Your Message. But what is your message? In this episode, we are going to discover your story.

If you've been here for a minute, you know that I like to teach speakers to open with something that captures your audience's attention, captivates your audience with the story, and closes with the application.

"The moral of the story is to use a story in your storytelling. It makes a difference. It matters. It moves people to action, and it makes you as the storyteller more memorable."

Join me as I talk about your story, what is your why, why do you love what you do, why does this story matter to you and:

  • Part of your message is your story (1:28)
  • What is story (2:08)
  • Questions to think about (3:09)

  • How do you find story (8:56)
  • How to structure your story (10:03)

I so enjoyed sharing with you today all about story and how storytelling fits in your message. Join my Facebook group and share how it's going with discovering your story. Not on Facebook? No worries, find me on Instagram! I would love for you to share with me how it is going for you.
