Storme Diaries - Sophia Mantle - Ep.2213 oct. 202601:33:43

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week I’m joined by my 22nd guest, Sophia, for a conversation about childhood, relationships, motherhood, fertility, miscarriage, body positivity, social media and the reality of following society’s expectations.

Sophia opens up about her parents separating, breaking her femur on a school skiing trip and meeting her partner as a teenager. We talk about growing up together, clubbing at a young age and how their relationship has evolved as they’ve navigated life, parenthood and everything in between.

We discuss how Sophia has followed what society often considers the “right” timeline — from working as an air hostess and travel agent to settling down and starting a family. But life doesn’t always go to plan, and ticking all the boxes doesn’t mean you won’t face unexpected challenges.

Sophia shares the realities of having a partner with epilepsy, living with PCOS and navigating motherhood. We talk about her elective C-section, miscarriage and the heartbreaking experience of a baby being attached to her C-section scar.

We also have honest conversations about the difficult decisions couples face when discussing whether to have more children, and the strain and pressure that raising a family can put on even the strongest relationships.

Alongside the more emotional topics, we talk about body positivity, fashion and showing up authentically online. Sophia shares why she believes you don’t need a niche to create content, why you should be able to express different sides of your personality and the importance of being the same person online as you are in real life.

This is a conversation about growing up, love, relationships, fertility, pregnancy loss, motherhood, identity and learning to live life on your own terms. 🤍

✨ In this episode we discuss:

• Her parents separating
• Breaking her femur on a school skiing trip
• Meeting her partner as a teenager
• Growing up and evolving together
• Clubbing at a young age
• Following society’s expected life timeline
• Working as an air hostess and travel agent
• Navigating life with a partner who has epilepsy
• PCOS and fertility
• Her elective C-section
• Miscarriage and pregnancy loss
• The heartbreaking story of a baby attached to her C-section scar
• Difficult conversations about having more children
• The pressure children can put on a relationship
• Protecting your relationship while raising a family
• Body positivity and body confidence
• Being authentic online and in real life
• Why you don’t need a niche
• Her love of fashion
• Expressing yourself without fitting into a box
• And everything in between 🤍

Sophia’s story is a reminder that life doesn’t always follow the timeline we’re taught to expect. You can build the life you imagined and still face challenges that change your perspective.

Relationships involve difficult conversations, unexpected challenges and decisions that aren’t always easy. And behind what we see online, there is always so much more to someone’s story.

You don’t have to fit into a box, follow someone else’s timeline or have everything figured out. You’re allowed to evolve, change direction and be unapologetically yourself. 🤍

Storme Diaries - Emma-Jane Gallagher - Ep.2106 oct. 202600:56:47

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week I’m joined by my 21st guest, Emma-Jane Gallagher, for a conversation about motherhood, fertility, birth trauma, NICU, social media, relationships and the reality of raising two babies just 364 days apart.

Emma always knew she wanted to be a mum, but her journey to motherhood wasn’t the straightforward one she had imagined. After years of trying, she experienced an ectopic pregnancy, was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and endometriosis, and eventually went through IVF before finally becoming a mum.

Emma went on to have her two children just 364 days apart — navigating life as a mum of two under one and everything that comes with it.

She opens up about the birth of her son, who arrived four weeks early via emergency C-section and was taken straight to NICU, leaving Emma without the experience she had imagined.

One of the most emotional parts of the episode is hearing Emma talk about being taken to a ward where every other woman had their baby beside them, while hers had been taken away to NICU. The impact that had on her mentally and the trauma she carried from that experience is something that will stay with me.

We also talk honestly about motherhood — the pressure to make it all look perfect, comparing yourself to other mums online, and the importance of showing the real and raw side of life.

Emma has created an outlet for herself through social media, using it as a space where she can be completely herself and share the realities of motherhood without pretending everything is picture perfect.

We talk about how admirable it is to build something for yourself while raising children, finding your own identity outside of being a mum and having a supportive husband beside you through it all.

We also have a conversation about parenting without judgement — because none of us know what is happening behind someone else's front door. Every parent is doing things differently, and perhaps we could all be a little kinder to one another.

This is a conversation about fertility, motherhood, birth trauma, NICU, mental health, social media, relationships, finding yourself again and the reality of raising two babies just 364 days apart. 🤍

✨ In this episode we discuss:

• Always knowing she wanted to be a mum

• Years of trying to conceive

• Ectopic pregnancy

• Polycystic ovaries

• Endometriosis

• IVF

• Becoming a mum

• Two babies just 364 days apart

• Life with two under one

• Her birth experiences

• Emergency C-section

• Her second son being born four weeks early

• NICU

• The trauma of being separated from your baby

• Being on a ward surrounded by women with their babies

• The reality of motherhood

• The pressure of “perfect” motherhood

• Social media and comparison

• Showing the real and raw side of life

• Finding an outlet through social media

• Building something while being a mum

• Finding your identity outside of motherhood

• Having a supportive husband

• Parenting without judgement

• Being kinder to other parents

• The reality behind what we see online

• And everything in between 🤍

Emma’s story is a reminder that motherhood doesn’t always look the way we imagined it would — and that there is so much more going on behind the photos, the posts and the highlight reels.

It’s also a reminder that we never really know what someone else is going through. So perhaps we could all be a little less judgemental, a little more supportive and a lot kinder to each other. 🤍

Storme Diaries - Frankie & Lily - Ep. 2029 sept. 202601:26:29

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week I’m joined by my 20th guests, Frankie & Lily — my first ever friend duo — for a conversation about friendship, growing up, motherhood, mental health, relationships and everything in between.

Frankie & Lily have known each other since they were young, growing up as neighbours but coming from very different home lives. One grew up in a quiet household, while the other grew up in complete chaos — and as children, they would often find themselves wanting to experience each other’s lives.

As they got older, life took them both down very different paths. They experienced their parents separating, became young mums, navigated complex family relationships and faced challenges that neither could have imagined when they were children.

Lily opens up about having a dad who struggled with heroin addiction, being diagnosed with ADHD, borderline personality disorder. While Frankie shares her experiences with, autism, PND, depression and health anxiety.

We also talk about relationships, co-parenting, being in a same-sex relationship, therapy and the different ways we learn to cope with everything life throws at us.

During lockdown, the two of them decided to turn their friendship into something bigger and created a Facebook group called Girls Who Support Girls — a community built around women supporting, encouraging and lifting each other up.

Their friendship has been through so much, and throughout the episode you can see exactly why they’ve remained such an important part of each other’s lives.

This is a conversation about friendship, childhood, motherhood, mental health, healing, relationships, resilience and the people who stay beside you through every version of yourself. 🤍

She shares her experience of an orgasmic birth, navigating motherhood, and eventually separating from her child’s dad.We talk about Faye’s spiritual awakening and how it led her down a completely different path — from healing and manifestation to pattern healing and conspiracy theories, and questioning so much of what she had previously believed.

Storme Diaries - Rob Swaine Ep. 1418 août 202600:55:44

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is a conversation full of honesty, openness and real conversations about parenthood, relationships, health and life as a dad with my 14th guest, Rob Swaine.

Rob is a coach, dad and someone who isn't afraid to speak openly about his experiences. In this episode, we talk about the reality of parenting, the fact that there is no manual for raising children, and how every stage brings its own challenges.

Rob opens up about his wife's pregnancy and birth experiences, including their journey through IVF to have their first child. We also talk about their second child being naturally conceived as a surprise, and how he was born on the exact day they moved into their new house.

We talk about the reality of having a threenager and a terrible two, the highs and lows of raising young children and why parenting can be completely relentless.

One conversation I particularly loved was around the role of dads at home. Rob shares his thoughts on why men absolutely can — and should — help with the housework, and why being a stay-at-home mum is a full-time job that deserves far more recognition. We talk about how important it is for mums to have a break, ask for help and remember that looking after the children all day is hard work.

Rob also talks about his coaching business and his own approach to health, fitness and feeling good, rather than simply focusing on how you look.

We get into some of the biggest conversations happening in the health and fitness world right now, including peptides and weight-loss injections, Rob's thoughts on them, and the importance of understanding your health rather than simply chasing a number on the scales.

As always, no Storme Diaries episode would be complete without talking about everything in between. We dive into parenting, IVF, pregnancy, birth, marriage, fatherhood, health, fitness, body image, relationships, supporting your partner and the everyday challenges that come with raising children.

This episode is honest, relatable and refreshingly real. Rob brings a dad's perspective to conversations that often focus heavily on mums, and reminds us that there really is no perfect way to do this parenting thing.

✨ In this episode we discuss:

• The reality of parenting when there is no manual
• Pregnancy and birth experiences
• Their IVF journey to have their first child
• Their second child being naturally conceived as a surprise
• Their son being born on the day they moved house
• Life with a terrible two and a threenager
• Why being a stay-at-home mum is HARD work
• Why dads should absolutely help with the housework
• The importance of mums getting time for themselves
• Fatherhood and supporting your partner
• Rob's coaching business
• Health, fitness and feeling good rather than simply looking good
• Peptides and his thoughts on their use
• Weight-loss injections and fat loss
• Body image and changing your relationship with your health
• Marriage, family life and everything in between

This conversation is full of honesty, vulnerability and important conversations.

Whether you're a parent, going through IVF, navigating the toddler years, a stay-at-home mum, a dad trying to find your feet, or simply interested in health and fitness, I think there will be something in this episode for you.

Storme Diaries - Hollie Dowding Ep. 1311 août 202601:34:59

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

⚠️ Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions around domestic abuse, violence, cancer and serious illness. Please listen with care. 🤍

This week's episode is an incredibly powerful, honest and emotional conversation with my 13th guest, the amazing Hollie Dowding.

Hollie is a mum of two, business owner and advocate for domestic abuse awareness. Throughout this conversation, she opens up about some of the most difficult experiences of her life, but also how she has turned so much of that pain into something incredibly powerful to help other women.

Hollie talks about her two children and what co-parenting with two different dads looks like for her. She shares the story of her first partner going to prison when her baby was just six months old and the challenges that came with navigating motherhood through such a difficult time.

We also talk about Hollie's family and the devastating news her mum received when she was diagnosed with cancer. Hollie shares how her mum got up every single day, told herself she was healed and whole, and continued to live her life with incredible strength. Her mum is now 10 years all clear, which makes this part of the conversation incredibly special.

Hollie also opens up about her dad's health journey, including undergoing two kidney transplants, and the impact his health challenges had on their family.

Alongside all of this, we talk about Hollie's career journey, her clothing business, network marketing and the different paths she has taken to build a life and career around her family.

But one of the biggest parts of this conversation is Hollie's experience of domestic abuse.

She bravely opens up about the relationship that became abusive, the control and violence she experienced, and ultimately how she found the strength to put her abuser in prison.

What I found so incredibly inspiring about Hollie's story is what she has done with something so traumatic. She has taken one of the darkest chapters of her life and turned it into something so powerful, using her experience to help, educate and support other women.

Hollie has since created House of Her, a free, trauma-informed hub designed to support women navigating domestic abuse — whether they're questioning their relationship, planning to leave or rebuilding their lives afterwards.

As always, no Storme Diaries conversation would be complete without talking about everything in between. We dive into motherhood, co-parenting, family, business, resilience, relationships, healing, domestic abuse and finding the strength to rebuild your life after trauma.

This episode is raw, emotional, honest and incredibly inspiring. Hollie's story is a reminder that the things we've been through don't have to define us — sometimes they can become the very thing that gives us the strength to help someone else.

This conversation is filled with vulnerability, strength, honesty and so many important conversations that need to be heard.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic abuse, Hollie has created House of Her to help women navigate their journey, whether they're questioning their relationship, planning to leave or rebuilding their lives afterwards.

You can find Hollie on Instagram and TikTok at @holliedowdingx and follow her domestic abuse awareness platform @houseofher__. You can also find House of Her at www.houseofherhub.com.

If you enjoyed this episode, don't forget to like, subscribe and share it with someone who might need to hear Hollie's story. Your support helps Storme Diaries continue sharing real stories from real people. 🤍

Storme Diaries - Sian Sheekey Ep. 1207 août 202601:06:29

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is a conversation full of honesty, laughter and unforgettable stories with the lovely Sian Sheekey.

Sian is a lash artist, mum of two and someone who isn't afraid to speak her mind. From becoming a mum at just 17 to navigating motherhood and raising children in today's world, this episode covers so many important conversations whilst still being full of humour.

Sian shares what it was like having her first baby at 17 and why she had to fight to have the home birth she knew she wanted. She tells the story of her partner arriving home from a day on the building site just in time for the birth, only insisting on having a shower first before meeting his baby.

We also talk about her second pregnancy, which she only discovered after being admitted to hospital during COVID with meningitis. Sian opens up about the fear of that experience, as well as at one point suffering a molar pregnancy.

Of course, there are plenty of lighter moments too. Sian shares why she was desperate for a ginger baby (and admits she cried when her son wasn't!), being mistaken for a college student when taking her son to college, growing up as one of seven children, and how her parents now foster children.

As a successful lash artist, Sian explains why sitting in the lash chair often becomes so much more than a beauty appointment, with clients opening up about their lives in ways they don't anywhere else.

We also discuss the pressures facing today's teenagers, Generation Z, Snapchat, parenting through social media, and why she believes schools and teachers can sometimes forget the importance of compassion.

As always, no Storme Diaries episode would be complete without talking about everything in between. We dive into motherhood, relationships, home birth, parenting teenagers, social media, grief, resilience, finding humour through life's challenges and embracing every season of life.

This episode is honest, funny, emotional and incredibly relatable. Sian reminds us that life rarely goes to plan, but sometimes the most unexpected moments become the stories we'll tell forever.

✨ In this episode we discuss:

• Becoming a mum at 17

• Fighting for a home birth

• Her partner nearly missing the birth after stopping for a shower

• Finding out she was pregnant whilst being treated for meningitis during COVID

• Experiencing a molar pregnancy• Why she wanted a ginger baby so badly

• Life as one of seven siblings

• Her parents becoming foster carers

• Working as a lash artist and the conversations that happen in the lash chair

• Raising children in the age of Snapchat and Generation Z

• Motherhood, resilience and everything in between

This conversation is full of laughter, vulnerability, honesty and those wonderfully unexpected stories that make life so memorable.

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is with my 10th guest, Bill Carta from @pintstopeaks – a dad, fundraiser and all-round inspiring guy whose honesty throughout this conversation really stayed with me.

It was refreshing to hear such an open perspective on fatherhood from a dad. We talk about the moment Bill found out he was going to become a father, experiencing both a home birth and a premature birth, the emotional rollercoaster of a NICU stay, and how those experiences have shaped the man and father he is today.

He shares how pushing himself physically isn't just about fitness—it's about making his dad proud and becoming the role model his own children can look up to.

We also dive into why the habits we build between 30 and 40 can shape not only our own future, but our children's too. Bill gives an honest insight into why he believes it's a difficult time to be a man, the pressures many men face financially and emotionally, and why these conversations matter more than ever.

Storme Diaries - Matt Brandon Ep. 913 juil. 202601:48:07

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is one of the most emotional conversations we've ever had. I sit down with the incredible Matt Brandon for a heartfelt conversation about love, loss, resilience and the unbreakable bond between a father and his daughter.

Matt's daughter, Sammy Jo, sadly passed away at just 29 years old after her breast cancer returned and became terminal. Before she passed away, Sammy Jo asked her dad to write a book about her journey and told him exactly what she wanted it to be called: When Life Goes Tits Up. Matt made her that promise, and he has since published the book in her honour.

We talk about Matt's childhood, his career, the challenges he's faced throughout his own life, and what it was like becoming a dad. He shares the beautiful bond they had, including supporting her through her IVF journey by giving her the injections she needed, and the conversations they shared during her final weeks that he says he'll treasure forever.Matt opens up about the devastating moment Sammy Jo was diagnosed with breast cancer, how their world changed when they learned it had become terminal, and how they chose to make the most of every moment they had left together.

Since Sammy Jo's passing, her family have created the Sammy Jo Brandon Foundation, donating every penny they raise to Children with Cancer UK—a charity that meant so much to Sammy because she couldn't bear the thought of children going through what she had. Together, they've raised an incredible £600,000+, ensuring Sammy Jo's legacy continues to make a difference to families across the UK.

Of course, no Storme Diaries conversation would be complete without talking about everything in between. From family, fatherhood and resilience, to grief, hope, legacy and the power of sharing the stories of those we love, nothing is off limits.

This episode is heartbreaking, inspiring and full of love. It's a reminder to cherish the conversations, keep your promises, and never be afraid to tell the stories of the people who will always be part of you.

This week's episode is a beautifully honest conversation with the lovely Lauren E Cloud – ex fashion buyer, content creator, single mum to two incredible boys, and a woman whose resilience shines through every chapter of her story.

On the outside, Lauren's life may look perfectly put together, but behind the scenes she's navigated heartbreak, loss, motherhood, career pressures and the everyday challenges that so many women quietly carry.

We dive into Lauren's previous career as a fashion buyer, what it was really like working in the fast-paced fashion industry, and why she decided to take a different path. She also shares how she's built her own catering business, balanced raising two boys as a single parent, and how having a strong support system—especially her amazing mum—has helped her navigate motherhood. It's a powerful reminder that asking for help is never a weakness.

Lauren also opens up about one of the most difficult periods of her life – losing both her brother and later her dad. She speaks so openly about grief, healing and learning to keep moving forward whilst carrying such unimaginable loss.

Of course, no Storme Diaries conversation would be complete without chatting about everything in between. From raising a teenager, navigating modern parenting and social media, to body confidence, her breast augmentation journey, and embracing confidence as a woman, nothing is off limits.

Storme Diaries - Dean & Michelle Ep. 623 juin 202601:51:17

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍

This week's episode is one that will stay with you long after you've finished listening.

I sit down with the incredible Dean and Michelle, a couple whose story is filled with love, heartbreak, resilience and hope. Their journey together hasn't always been easy, but through some of life's darkest moments, they found a way to come through stronger than ever.

We talk openly about addiction, the devastating impact it can have on relationships and family life, and the reality of loving someone who is battling their own demons. Dean bravely shares his experience with drug addiction, the choices he made, the consequences that followed, and the life-changing moment that forced him to look at everything differently.

At the heart of this conversation is Michelle's story too. The woman who stood by the man she loved through the highs and the lows. The woman who supported, protected and fought for her family when it mattered most. Michelle opens up about the difficult reality of loving someone with an addiction, the fine line between helping and enabling, and finding the strength to put herself and her children first.

Together, they share the heartbreaking loss of their unborn baby, a moment that changed their lives forever. Whilst no loss can ever be justified, Dean reflects on how this tragedy became the turning point that made him realise the true value of life and gave him the strength to walk away from addiction for good.

This is a story about second chances.

A story about grief, forgiveness and growth.

A story about what happens when two people refuse to give up on themselves, their family and each other.

Most importantly, it's a reminder that no matter how dark life may feel, there is always hope.

And for the first time ever on Storme Diaries, my husband John makes a special appearance as we take on our very first "all couples" episode. Whilst Dean and Michelle share their incredible journey, John joins the conversation from the husband's perspective... although it wouldn't be a proper family podcast without a little chaos. Keep an ear out for the unexpected technical interruption when John's nan decides to call him around ten minutes into the recording – proving that no matter how deep the conversation gets, family always finds a way to make an appearance too! 🤍

✨ In this episode we discuss:

* Falling in love and building a life together

* Drug addiction and its impact on family life

* The challenges of loving someone through addiction

* The difference between supporting and enabling

* The heartbreaking loss of an unborn baby

* Turning pain into purpose

* Recovery, healing and personal growth

* Finding strength through adversity

* Protecting your children during difficult times

* Rebuilding trust and relationships

* The power of forgiveness

* Navigating life as a couple through challenging seasons

* Why true love is sometimes choosing not to give up

This conversation made me laugh, cry and reflect on just how powerful the human spirit can be.

Dean and Michelle's story is proof that even when life throws its hardest challenges your way, healing is possible, change is possible, and love really can overcome more than we ever imagine.
