Time feels slow until it doesn’t. One minute you’re planning the year, and the next you’re wondering how your kids are suddenly grown and how the calendar got so full. That’s where my chat with Australian country star Casey Barnes begins, and it quickly turns into a warm, honest conversation about music, family, and what it means to stay present while still chasing big goals.

Casey’s celebrating huge news: his eighth studio album, Made For This, is on the way, along with a national album tour and a stack of fan details we know you care about, from limited edition merch to a seriously special marbled emerald vinyl release. We talk about why albums still matter, why playing a record front to back feels different than skipping through singles, and how he’s shaped a tracklist with real range, from high-energy anthems to songs that hit close to home. We also shine a light on the team behind the sound, including M Squared and songwriter-producer Michael Paynter, and how that studio process pushes every line to land.

Then we get to the heart-stealer: “Time To Burn,” Casey’s first-ever collaboration with iconic Australian singer-songwriter Pete Murray. We unpack the story behind the duet, the perspective shift that makes it sting in the best way, and the simple message that keeps echoing long after the last chord: slow down, be grateful, and make time for what matters while you’ve got it.

If you love Australian country music, new music interviews, and stories that feel like real life, hit play, subscribe, share this with a mate, and leave a review so more listeners can find the show.

Mick Arnold doesn’t chase the spotlight, but his story belongs in it. We catch up with the Rose Tattoo guitarist in the Zoom room and pull back the curtain on a career built on passion, persistence, and a serious love of loud rock and roll. From his school days in the Southern Highlands to picking up guitar and finding his own sound without a musical family behind him, Mick’s path feels honest, grounded, and very Australian.

We talk about the bands that shaped him before Rose Tattoo, the classic grind of learning through cover gigs, and the leap into originals and songwriting. Mick shares why collaboration matters to him, why songs need the right “vehicle” to really come alive, and yes, how a few beers can help the ideas flow. Then we get into the moments every rock fan dreams about: getting the call to play with the band he’d loved since 1977, touring, and the unreal Sydney night Rose Tattoo opened for Slash, with Slash jumping up to jam onstage.

There’s real-life wisdom here too. Mick breaks down how he balanced music with a trade job welding at Cockatoo Island, why having a backup plan kept the wheels turning with a mortgage and kids, and why musicians rarely ever feel “done.” We also look ahead to Rose Tattoo’s 50-year milestone, what retirement might mean for touring, and the possibility of new recordings and even one last album’s worth of songs.

If you love Australian rock history, guitar stories, and the behind-the-scenes reality of life in a working band, hit play. Subscribe, share with a mate, and leave us a review so more people can keep supporting Aussie music.

What has Dave Gleeson been up to lately? OR It's A Long Way To The Top If You Want A Sausage Roll

What happens when a frontman who’s lived two decades in Adelaide decides to compress Australian rock history into a one-hour Fringe blowout? We sit down with Dave Gleeson to chart the making of Long Way To The Top, a full-throttle, sing-it-louder celebration packed with anthems from Johnny O’Keefe and the Easybeats to ACDC, Cold Chisel, Australian Crawl, Killing Heidi, and Baby Animals. The plan: tight medleys, zero fluff, and a setlist designed to keep the crowd moving from the first riff to the final chorus.

We get into why a local run changes everything. Instead of flights and 3am hotel check-ins, Dave leans into the luxury of consistency: same stage, same sound, and same room to refine the show night after night at the Fantail in Gluttony. He spotlights Adelaide talent with powerhouse vocalists Zkye and Rachel Vidoni stepping forward, and teases special guests—from Jack Jones to a possible John Brewster cameo—so each performance carries the spark of surprise. Along the way we trade stories that ground the myth: toilet-roof posters, private boxes on FringeTIX, and the joy of a community that knows every word before the first chord lands.

There’s reverence, not preciousness. We talk Kate Ceberano’s Australian Made Tour revival, why stripped-back sets still sell out, and how nostalgia isn’t about looking back—it’s about singing together right now.

Dave’s pride in his son James’s band sits next to a plea for endangered venues like the Woodshed, a reminder that the posters on the wall matter as much as the players onstage. We close by lifting Support Act, the charity that catches artists and crew when life bites, because a healthy scene needs both volume and a safety net.

Grab your tickets, warm up your voice, and meet us down the front.

If this hit list fires you up, share the episode with a friend, leave a quick review, and subscribe so you never miss a chorus.
