118 | Nail Your Niche (Without Second-Guessing): A Biblical Take On Finding Who You're Called to Serve10 Jun 202500:16:28

Hey Friend,

Welcome to the Start That Business podcast, where we help Jesus-led career moms turn their expertise into their first coaching or consulting business in just 12 weeks.

If you're a Jesus-led career mom ready to launch your coaching business but keep wondering, "Who exactly am I called to help?" - this episode is FOR YOU.

This is part 2 of my Business Book Review series, where I'm sharing 4 powerful books that have shaped me as a Jesus-led entrepreneur. Today we're diving into Nail Your Niche by Brian Ellwood - and it's a total game-changer.

Here's what you'll discover:

  • You're called to serve a previous version of you. Your ideal client might be you from a few steps ago. This makes niche work so much easier and more spirit-led! (2 Corinthians 1:4 - God comforts us so we can comfort others)
  • Choose clarity over being cute. Stop trying to "niche cute" with lots of fancy words and zero focus. Brian emphasizes outcomes over identity - what's the actual RESULT you help people get?

You'll get the exact formula I use to create my I help statement.

Plus, I'm sharing my own “a-ha!” moments from reading this book, which gave me clarity and helped me get laser-focused in my brand message.

By the end of this podcast, you'll have clarity, confidence, and a clear niche statement. You'll walk away with practical tools to discover who you're called to serve with Christ at the center.

I pray this helps you take action!

🎙 Podcast Episode Spotlight: Florida 1.27

Today’s episode spotlight is on Florida 1.27 — an incredible nonprofit based in Tampa, Florida, on a mission to bridge the gap between churches and children in need.

Founded by Brian and Rachell, a couple whose own journey through fostering and adoption was marked by deep faith, real challenges, and a bold calling, Florida 1.27 was born from lived experience. What started as a lonely, overwhelming walk turned into a movement; one that equips churches to step into foster care ministry with wisdom, support, and Christ-like love.

If you’ve ever asked, “Lord, how can I help vulnerable children in my community?”—Florida 1.27 is your answer. They train and support families, educate churches, and share practical tools for trauma healing, all while keeping Jesus at the center.

To learn more about their story and how your church can get involved, visit Florida127.org or email Info@florida127.org. 13310 N 53rd St, #200, Tampa, FL 33617 | 813-563-5127

Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus—because together, we are more than enough.

Habakkuk 2:2 says ****“And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

09 | Worried No One Will Pay For Your Service? 4 Simple Ways to Validate Your Service-Based Business Idea15 Feb 202300:16:43

Are you worried that no one will pay for your service after you launch your business? I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had my share of rejection, but I have good news for you.

In today’s episode, I’ll show you 4 simple ways to validate your service-based business idea before you launch your business.

According to research, the fear of failure is one of the reasons why people never start their businesses. Knowing if an idea will fly before launching helps reduce the fear that leads to inaction.

Don't let fear cause you to validate your business idea forever and never launch. The goal of validating your business is to find the smallest meaningful evidence that you have a viable business. One that solves a real problem and prospective customers are willing to pay for it. Once you get this evidence, it's time to launch.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

08 | Ready to take the first step? Go from idea to starting a service-based business with my F.I.R.S.T. step method (step 5)08 Feb 202300:22:36

Today is the last episode for the series we started in episode 4 titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start a business. I’m excited to explore step 5 which is the letter “T” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "F.I.R.S.T." step method is an acronym I created to help you move from idea to starting a business.

The letter “T” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Take The Leap”.

Let's do a quick recap of steps 1, 2, and step 3.

  • Step 1: “F” - Find Clarity
  • Step 2: “I” - Ideate with your “good example”
  • Step 3: “R” - Research and Review”
  • Step 4: “S” - Set Reasonable Boundaries
  • Step 5: “T” - Take The Leap

The thought of starting a business always scared me. I had a million unanswered questions. I felt I wasn't qualified. I felt entrepreneurship was for extroverts and not introverts like me. I was also afraid of being responsible for other people's income. But deep inside my heart, I knew I was called to be an entrepreneur.

You’ll always be afraid to take the leap to start your service-based business. But you can either let the fear stop you or you can do what I did - Feel the fear and do it anyway.

The path to starting a business might feel terrifying today, but if you persist it will become your path to direct impact, freedom of creative expression, time/schedule flexibility, and ownership of your own work.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

07 | Take the F.I.R.S.T. Step: 5 steps you need to take to go from idea to start a business (Step 4 - setting boundaries)01 Feb 202300:20:37

In episode 4, I started a new series titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start your business. In today’s episode, we’ll explore step 4 which is the letter “S” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "F.I.R.S.T." step method is an acronym I created to help you move from idea to start a business.

The letter “S” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Set Reasonable Boundaries”.

Let's do a quick recap of steps 1, 2, and step 3.

  • Step 1: “F” - Find Clarity
  • Step 2: “I” - Ideate with your “good example”
  • Step 3: “R” - Research and Review”

It is easy to get burnt out doing the thing you love the most if you don’t set reasonable boundaries. As a mom, wife, and aspiring entrepreneur, you’ll feel like a joggler, juggling multiple balls in the air and praying that none drops.

Spending time to study yourself and learn what works for you and what doesn't work is priceless. I'm realizing every day that "One size doesn't fit all". It never has and it never will. The way you work is unique!

Don't start a business based on what works for someone else. Their life situation is different from yours and you never get the full story online. Take time to set reasonable boundaries that allow you to balance family, work, business, and personal responsibilities. Be reasonable with your boundaries. Don’t set boundaries that make it extremely difficult for your customers to transact business with you.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

06 | Take the F.I.R.S.T. Step: 5 steps you need to take to go from idea to start a business (Step 3)25 Jan 202300:20:20

In episode 4, I started a new series titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start your business. In today’s episode, we’ll explore step 3 which is the letter “R” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "F.I.R.S.T." step method is an acronym I created to help you move from idea to launch your business.

The letter “R” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Research & Revise”.

Let's do a quick recap of steps 1 and 2.

  • Step 1: “F” - Find Clarity
  • Step 2: “I” - Ideate with your “good example”

The number one cause of inaction is a lack of clarity. Lack of clarity breeds inaction because you don’t know the next step to take. You become stuck. Finding clarity gives you vision, direction, and a roadmap that shows you the steps to go from stuck to unstuck. Finding a good example helps you find clarity. A good example is:

  • Someone that is already doing the business you want to do or a semblance of it. This can be your spouse, friend, coach, social media influencer, etc.
  • A resource/template about the business you want to start. It shows you the steps you need to take. The resource can be a PDF download, webinar or workshop, blog post, podcast, book, news article, Online Courses, One-on-one Coaching Programs, a 90-day mastermind, or an intensive program.

Your “good example” might not be a perfect match for your business niche. That’s where Research comes in. Research helps you discover any other specific information you need to launch the first version of your business. Research is ongoing so that get trapped in analysis paralysis. Revise the information you already gathered based on your new research and decide on the key components you need to launch your business.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

05 | Take the F.I.R.S.T. Step: 5 steps you need to take to go from idea to start a business (Step 2)20 Jan 202300:15:06

In episode 4, I started a new series titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start your business. In today’s episode, we’ll explore step 2 which is the letter “I” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "F.I.R.S.T." step method is an acronym I created to help aspiring entrepreneurs move from idea to business launch.

The letter “I” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Ideate”.

Ideation involves visualizing, conceptualizing, and fleshing out your thoughts on your business idea using your “good example” as your guide. Having a good example makes the Ideation step seamless because you’re following a proven model you’re not recreating the wheel.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

04 | Take the F.I.R.S.T. Step: 5 steps you need to take to go from idea to start that business12 Jan 202300:22:18

In today’s episode, I start a new series titled “Take the F.I.R.S.T. step: 5 steps you need to take to take to go from idea to start your business. For the next 5 episodes, we’ll explore my F.I.R.S.T. step method. My "FIRST" step method is an acronym I created to help aspiring entrepreneurs move from idea to business launch.

The letter “F” in my F.I.R.S.T. step method is “Find Clarity”.

The number one cause of inaction is a lack of clarity. Lack of clarity breeds inaction because you don’t know the next step to take. You become stuck. Finding clarity gives you vision, direction, and a roadmap that shows you the steps to go from stuck to unstuck.

You don’t need 100% clarity before you start your business. You need Clarity as small as a mustard seed. Clarity is like faith or a muscle. The more you use the clarity you have to take action, the more clarity you get. Clarity grows as you take action.

I pray this episode transforms your life. Enjoy!

03 | 2 things you need to do to beat overwhelm and create time to start your dream business #203 Jan 202300:21:50

Hey Sis,

In EP2 of the podcast, we learned about the first thing you need to do to beat overwhelm and create time to start that business. Creating a daily system helps you take control of your time. You should listen to EP2 if you missed it. In today’s episode, we'll learn about the second thing you need to do to beat overwhelm and create time to start that business.

Spoiler! You don’t need a large chunk of time to work on starting that business or any other goal that’s important to you. Using the power of little pockets of time, you can form a new habit of showing up to work on starting that business.

We must learn to use the power of little pockets of time in a fast-paced world. “Slowly is the fastest way to get where you want to be” Sergey Faldin.

I pray this transforms your life. Enjoy!

02 | 2 things you need to do to beat overwhelm and create the time to start your dream business #103 Jan 202300:22:56

Hey Sis,

Have you ever said these words out loud “I don’t have time to start my dream business”. Spoiler! You’ll never have enough time. In today’s episode, you’re going to learn about the #2 things you need to do to beat overwhelm and create time to start your dream business. I’ll start the conversation in this episode and finish it in the next episode (EP3).

Creating a plan of how to spend your time eliminates the excuse of not having enough time. When you create time for what’s important you empower yourself to achieve your important goals.

Everything is not a Priority! Take control of your time by prioritizing the important over the urgent.

I pray this transforms your life. Enjoy!

01 | 3 Lessons I learned from building a 7-figure service-based business after a failed corporate career03 Jan 202300:22:20

Hey Sis,

In today’s episode, I share 3 lessons I learned from building a 7-figure service-based business after a failed corporate career. Are you tired of ignoring the Holy Spirit’s nudge to start that business? Are you tired of feeling frustrated with a lack of fulfillment from your corporate job?

You might be in the exact same place I was 10yrs ago and you're feeling discouraged.

Get inspiration from my story and listen to what’s possible when you surrender to God’s way and move in the direction of His divine purpose for your life. You too can create remarkable results when you say yes to God’s way.

You can start by praying the prayer - “Father God, I surrender, submit, accept and embrace your divine plan, purpose, process, and timing for my life. Take me by the hand and lead me. I trust your way. Amen”.

I pray this transforms your life. Enjoy!

116 | 3 Reasons You’re Still Second-guessing Your Calling Even When You Know What God Said29 May 202500:22:59

Hey Friend, Are you still hesitating to launch that God-given business idea? I get it! You're definitely not alone in this struggle!

In this episode, I'm breaking down the 3 main reasons why so many Jesus-led career moms stay stuck instead of stepping into their calling as coaches and consultants. We're talking about why you're undervaluing what you already bring to the table, how you're missing the goldmine in your professional experience, and why you're dismissing the very journey God used to prepare you for this moment.

Here's what we're diving into:

  • Your everyday work skills aren't ordinary - they're your coaching superpowers.
  • Those years of professional experience? That's not just a resume builder, that's your credibility foundation.
  • That personal transformation story you think is "too messy"? That's exactly what someone else needs to hear.

I'm also sharing my favorite confidence-building exercise - creating an "Evidence Bank" that will help you see yourself the way God sees you. Plus, we're looking at Gideon's story because if God can use a guy hiding in a winepress, He can definitely use you!

Listen now, if you're ready to:

  • Stop underestimating what you already know
  • Turn your experience into your greatest asset
  • Finally, move from second-guessing to serving

Your calling isn't waiting for you to feel ready - it's waiting for you to say yes.

Let's do this! 🙌

92 | Branding Basics: Essential Elements to Launch Your Service-Based Business with Danielle LaBonté11 Dec 202400:41:00

Hey Friend,

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Danielle LaBonté, a branding expert whose journey to becoming a graphic designer is as inspiring as her advice. While studying art history design in Italy, Danielle had an aha moment while working on her thesis. She realized she didn’t want to write about artists—she was called to be an artist. That calling wouldn’t go away, and it changed everything.   As Danielle puts it, her professor was more passionate about her thesis than she was. That realization led her to do a complete 180—leaving her art history path behind and going back to school to study graphic design. Now, she’s on a mission to help others find fulfillment in their calling and build brands that tell their unique stories.   Because, as Danielle says: "Your brand isn’t just a logo or colors—it’s the story you tell and the connection you build with your audience. Align your business with your purpose, and success will follow."

Here’s what we covered:

  • The foundational branding elements you need from day one
  • The impact of a professionally designed logo on client first impressions
  • How to create a cohesive brand identity (think colors, typography, and style!)
  • Whether a great brand guarantees success—or if there’s more to the equation
  • DIY branding: Is it a cost-saving move or a potential risk?
  • Practical steps to launch a brand that stands out and connects with clients

Danielle didn’t just share tips—she shared strategy. If you’re ready to create a brand that speaks to your ideal clients and sets your business apart, this episode is a must-listen. Hit play now and start building the brand of your dreams! 🎧

82 | 3 Scriptures To Pray Regularly As A Kingdom Entrepreneur08 Aug 202400:16:06

I had the privilege of attending the UNRESTRICTED Conference hosted by Dr. Latanya Moore last weekend in Dallas, TX. My biggest takeaway was I cannot neglect my prayer life or time spent in God’s presence. The work done internally through prayer is what produces the results we seek externally. In today’s episode, I share 3 scriptures you need to pray regularly as a Kingdom Entrepreneur to ensure your business aligns with God's agenda.

When you agree with God’s word in prayer, you trigger a divine process to fulfill that word.

During this conversation, I discuss:

  1. Isaiah 6:10, Matthew 13:15
  2. Ephesians 3:16
  3. Proverbs 19:21

Key Takeaways and Lessons:

  • Guard against spiritual blindness through prayer
  • Draw strength from God’s unlimited resources
  • Surrender your plans to God’s purpose
