Feed Drop: Not Quite Dead, a show about vampires which just finished its final season 06 août 202500:22:50

Hey folks, it’s Eira! Today I’m introducing to you another one of my own shows, Not Quite Dead! Not Quite Dead follows Alfie Dellon, a former nurse who has become entangled in the world of vampires. It starts with mauled patients showing up at the A&E where he worked, their throats torn out, apparently by human teeth. One near-death experience later, Alfie finds himself swapping blood with Casper, a vampire who he cannot seem to resist. But Casper is hiding things from Alfie. He says it’s to keep him safe, but Alfie isn’t quite sure he believes him. He wants to trust Casper, to believe he has his best interests in mind. But how can he believe that after Cas abandons him at his most vulnerable, with no explanation, and no indication of when he’ll come back?

This show about vampires recently finished its final season, so the story is now finished, with 55 episodes waiting for you to sink your teeth into. The story starts small but gets bigger with each season, and the introduction of a vampire older than agriculture flips the whole thing on its head in Season Two. Here’s the show’s first episode to give you a taste of what to expect. If you enjoy it, you can find the rest of the show by searching ‘Not Quite Dead’ wherever you’re listing right now, or you can listen ad free over on Patreon at patreon.com/hangingslothstudios from just £2.

SBRR 10: Reflecting on Episodes 10-15 of Season Three28 juin 202400:17:02

This is the final episode of SBRR, at least for now! It was extremely emotional to make and took me far longer to finish because of that.

SBRR 9: Reflecting on Episodes 1-9 of Season Three20 juin 202400:15:36

This has by far been the most difficult of these retrospectives to write. I’m surprised by how much I’ve found I’ve connected with this part of the story, and also by how difficult it was to come back to it in this way. I hope it was interesting to explore these episodes again with me, and if you have thoughts about this section of the show you think I’ve missed, I’d love to hear them!

SBRR Character Focus: The Inconvenient Sins13 juin 202400:10:03

This episode of SBRR is lends special focus to many people's favourite trio of horrors from the world of SBR, the Inconvenient Sins, Indifference, Ingratitude and Ignorance! It was lovely to spend some time dissecting their characters and reflecting on the ways they interlink with one another. It was a really meditative experience!

This time I'm looking back at the first few episodes in Season Two's second half. There's a lot to unpack in these episodes, so this one is the longest yet! Let's think about Sam's growing power, the function of B as a foil for Sam, how Sam's relationship with Oliver is challenged this season, and how everything in Anna's life gets turned upside down! This time, I'm zooming in this time on the beginning of the show's second season. Across these episodes I focus in on the significance of homes in the show, what the different animals might represent, and the perils of being a people pleaser with potentially limitless power.

Not Quite Dead: A Show About Vampires22 févr. 202400:01:05

Hi, I’m Eira, creator of Clockwork Bird and Spirit Box Radio, and I’m here to tell you about another show, Not Quite Dead.

After seeing a succession of patients succumb to the same brutal injuries to their necks, Alfie, an overworked emergency nurse, is almost killed by a foul, rotting creature. He’s saved by a mysterious man who tells him the only chance Alfie has to live to let him drink his blood. Alfie agrees, not realising that giving his blood to Casper, a vampire, will mean the two of them become inextricably linked. This strange bond pulls Alfie deep into the world of vampires, and soon he is faced with a terrible choice; walk away and forget; or risk it all and try to become a vampire too.

Not Quite Dead is a gory romance horror story about the violence of vulnerability and the horrors both outside and within ourselves. If you like vampire stories, twisted romance, gory horror, and stories which bite back, search for Not Quite Dead wherever you find your podcasts, or go to hangingslothstudios.com/not-quite-dead to find out more.

Season Three Q&A with Eira!10 août 202300:42:57

Tune in to this very last Q&A about Spirit Box Radio with creator Eira Major, where he talks about the ups and downs of making a show almost entirely on your own, the knock-on effects of confidence problems, and the things about the show which have made him feel the proudest. There's also a lot of laughter about not being about to judge time, and plenty of cat chat, too!
