| S2 #43 / Mark Nemglan on Avalon Working | 12 Aug 2024 | 00:55:39 | |
Today we are joined by author and publisher Mark Nemglan to discuss his new title from Scarlet Imprint, Avalon Working. Avalon Working is equal parts grimoire and devotional, gazeteer and visionary journey. The work passionately argues for Glastonbury as centre of emergence and initiation, a latter-day Eleusis. Through essay and ritual, the author invites readers to actively participate in the Holy Island’s unfolding destiny, in partnership with its spirits and powers, to co-create its mythopoeia and, in doing so, forge a new Avalonian covenant. In the Plus show Mark goes into detail regarding the rituals and spirits associated with Glastonbury and the strange encounters people have had on the Tor and Mark shares with us his own incredible experience. For episode 49 we are joined by author Anthony Tyler to discuss his book ‘Dive Manual, Empirical Investigations of Mysticism’.’
We discuss addiction, Jungian archetypes and psychology, fortean phenomena, mysticism, anthropology, mythology, folklore, symbolism, faith and most importantly belief.
In the Plus show we discuss the work of author Clive Barker, I’m a huge fan. I saw Hellraiser when I was about 14, really too young to watch it and I didn’t really understand the themes but it still resonated with me on a primal level I guess. We go over Anthony’s thinking on the film and Barker's broader work.

| #47 / Phil Hine, The Cannibal Club: The British Empire and Erotica | 09 Jan 2021 | 01:05:28 | |
For episode #47 we welcome back author Phil Hine to take us through his research into the opaque yet notorious Cannibal Club, a collection of British upper class victorian men who shared an interest in anthropology and the creation and collection of erotica.
The podcast covers a range of subjects from obscure esoteric history to how India appears in Victorian erotica to the case for phallic worship as the root of religion.
To give fair warning the show does touch on some difficult ideas from an historical context principally the racist and sexist ideas of the more deplorable members of the Club and the influence these ideas had on anthropology.
We briefly discuss Phil’s excellent anthology ‘Hines Varieties’ which I highly recommend. The link for which you can find in the show notes.

| #45 / Pierre Sabak. New Ufology, Occult Symbolism and Angelic UFOs. | 20 Dec 2020 | 01:05:48 | |
For episode #45 we welcome Pierre Sabak. He is an expert on ancient symbolism and etymology and is widely recognized as a leading academic in the fields of religion, mythology, mysticism and the esoteric. New Ufology is the Study of Occult Symbolism to deconstruct the Ufological tradition, a restricted teaching equated with the Flying Saucer and its occupants (a Crewmember of a Vessel). A completely new field of research, the focus of New Ufology is Skaphology (the Study of Angelic Boats within Religion and Mythology). Pierre Sabak's work on the Saucer Cults details a Secret Alien Code within Language which he calls the Artefact, one that is identified archaically with the ‘Angelic Sailor’ and its human and non-human Hosts. Sabak contends that it is only through studying the occult tradition that we can truly comprehend the UFO phenomenon, its astrological origins and more importantly its intentions for mankind! - to that end, what are its intentions for mankind?

| #43 / Dana Fox, The Valley of the Four Houses | 29 Nov 2020 | 01:04:50 | |
For episode 43 I have the great pleasure of welcoming back Dana Fox to discuss his new project ‘The Valley of the Four Houses’ Firstly, it’s the name of the book he’s writing. Secondly, it’s the name of an ongoing series of talks and lectures he’s giving on Patreon. The talks encompass film reviews, but not in the usual way. Dana present’s theories about particular films. It’s experimental. It’s a type of magic. The magic for me is learning to discount nothing, to see tiny hints of something which might lead you in an unexpected direction. Links as always in the show notes. In the show we cover all of the above and we talk about some of the paranormal subject matter, magick, philosophy and some rare and tragic cryptids. There were some audio issues during the recording so there is some background noise in places but nothing too unbearable. Show Notes:

It’s a psychedelic ride through a world of seances, skeptical scientists, multiple earths, Atlantis, Lemuria, Giants and a vastly different view of human history. | #33 / Mme Vendredi on seduction magick, servitors & sigils for Desire. Djinn stories | 13 Sep 2020 | 01:09:42
For episode #33 of the Plus show we are joined by Mademoiselle Vendredi.
Mademoiselle Vendredi began her earliest foray into the world of magick around the age of ten when she stumbled on a book in a local library on the history of superstitions, witches and ghosts. Trying to summon a storm using a piece of cord and looking for evidence of the Evil Eye in a glass of water in which oil had been poured came as naturally to her as making up imaginary Gods and praying to them for something magickal to happen.
High school brought into sharp relief her "desires to be noticed and adored by the guys in the popular crowd" which is how she discovered her penchant for Magickal head turning.
Since then, a significant focus of her practice has been dedicated to Magickal seduction and enchantments of illusions, love and material and carnal desire. To achieve her aims, she uses Servitors and Sigils to create a 'great veil of fascination' and to remove "obstacles to attraction".
In the Plus show we talk Djinns and having grown up in the Middle East Mademoiselle Vendredi has plenty to share on subject.

| #32 / Wilmar Taal on 'The Gnome Manuscript' | 06 Sep 2020 | 01:03:46 | |
For Episode #32 show we welcome Wilmar Taal to discuss, The Gnome Manuscript and its creator, J.H.W. Eldermans. The Gnome Manuscript is a part of a set of three books including, The Gnome Grimoire and The Gnome Compendium, the later two being due for publication with Troy Books. All three are based on the works of J.H.W. Eldermans concerning gnomes. The original source manuscript is lost but a copy is held in the Museum of witchcraft and magic at Boscastle. The artwork in the manuscript is remarkable, some of which you can see in the YouTube version of the podcast. It’s worth having a look to get a sense of the complexity of this work. We discuss the elusive and complicated figure that is Eldermans. We discuss the importance of stories, place and community in our lives. In relation to Gnomes Wilmar proposes the areas most associated with Gnome mythology were previously lands of Celtic tribes and a residual belief of those people. Wilmar also reveals an unexpected possible origin myth of the Gnomes. Witte Wieven, also make an appearance. Translated the White woman who have almost identical mythology to the Banshee and Wilmar warns that if you see a Witte Wieven you have to run, they are not friendly. In the Plus show we further discuss what was Eldermans trying to achieve with the book and the stories about his engagement with local people regarding the Gnomes and a secret grimoire Eldermans penned covering a remarkable range of occult subjects, hinting at an ambition of producing a larger body of work of which the Gnome manuscript was a part. Wilmar goes on to discuss the sexual component to Eldermans work and what his view of magick was and what was needed to practice it. We also go through a story around Eldermans connections with Occult groups. If that sounds like it floats your boat join the Patreon and you'll get access to all previous Plus shows and much more. | S2 #32 / Lisette Coly on Eileen J. Garrett & Lucifer | 23 Jan 2024 | 01:02:49
Beginning in her early childhood, the world-famous trance medium and grande dame of parapsychology Eileen J. Garrett had numerous encounters with an entity she called the "Noble Stranger." When she asked his identity one day, this mysterious figure responded, "You may call me Lucifer." Call me Lucifer: Dialogues with a Noble Stranger, features Garrett's writings about her encounters with this Noble Stranger, and reflections on her intellectual "duels with her Devil." The book includes extensive verbatim transcripts of Lucifer's communication with Garrett, together with Lucifer's Compendium of Guidance. Though prepared with great care over the course of her life, the book has lain dormant in Garrett's family archives for decades. Her granddaughter, Lisette Coly, current President of the Parapsychology Foundation, has now decided that it should be shared with the public as an aid to our spiritual evolution. Eileen J. Garrett (1893-1970) was an Irish medium and one of the most important figures in parapsychology. Despite her apparent psychic abilities, which were subjected to numerous tests by the most prominent researchers of the era. Garrett maintained a lifelong healthy skepticism, always questioning the nature and meaning of her own extraordinary experiences. Her dedication to the objective, scientific study of psychical phenomena resulted in her establishing the Parapsychology Foundation, which published many books on the subject as well as the International Journal of Parapsychology, and the popular Tomorrow magazine. Garrett was also something of a bon vivant, rubbing shoulders with everyone from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to Cecil B. DeMille, Aldous Huxley, Salvador Dalí, Robert Graves, Anaïs Nin, and Carl Jung to name but a few. Garrett herself was a prolific author, writing a number of novels as well as books on psychical research and three autobiographies SHOW NOTES: Eileen J. | #30 / Stephanie Connolly on Demonolatry and the nature of Demons | 24 Aug 2020 | 01:03:29
For Episode 30 we welcome Stephanie Connolly. Stephanie is an American author of books about Daemonolatry and magick. She has been practicing Daemonic Magick since 1984, and has been an initiated Daemonolatress since 1990. She is actively practicing and has over 35 years experience in Goetia and grimoiric magick as well as traditional craft.
Also a Rosicrucian, she holds a Master of Metaphysics from ULC Seminary. She has taught online classes in Qabbalah, Gematria, Magick, Daemonolatry and Meditation since 1999 and regularly speaks at conventions, trade shows, and conferences on a variety of topics.
She is one of the foremost experts on the topic of Daemonolatry and the author of over 25 books about Daemonolatry specifically, including the bestselling The Complete Book of Demonolatry.
In the conversation we get into Demonolatry as a practice of self development, the nature of demons as divine intelligences and her own metaphysical experiences. We talk about the creative spark and how her practice has given her the discipline to write over 80 books. Which is just an incredible achievement.
An interesting note from the conversation is Stephanie’s views on what Demons are and what they aren’t. She makes a clear distinction between them and energy eaters which is how she describes parasitic entities. I think this is an important distinction and one that is often missed in conventional western spiritual thinking
In the Plus show we discuss what demons get from us in exchange. What possession means from the Demonalatry perspective and more pointedly how magick and real long term change means commitment and hard work.

| #28 / Jerry Marzinsky, Schizophrenia and parasitic entities | 10 Aug 2020 | 01:26:34 | |
Joining us on the Spirit Box for episode 28 is Jerry Marzinsky. Prior to retirement, Jerry was a licensed psychotherapist. He has over 35 years of experience working with schizophrenic and other psychiatric patients in state hospitals, state prisons, and hospital emergency rooms.
Jerry’s formal academic training comprises a B.A. in Psychology from Temple University, a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Georgia, and two years of study in a Ph.D. Psychology program.
This show is quite an important one for me after my own experiences and research and I had previously cited Jerry in my own lectures juxtaposing his testimony against the concepts of Obsession and Waswas. You can find that lecture in the show notes.
Jerry outlines his journey from the conventional psychiatric understanding of schizophrenia as an internal problem to a position of believing it to be an external one. An external one that is the result of parasitic entities that prey on human beings. In the first hour he describes the patterns he spotted in patients throughout his career that led him to his position and in his opinion the failings of conventional psychiatric treatments.
He goes on to describe his conversation with the entities themselves through his patients and their warnings to him culminating in a startling experience that left him deeply shaken.
In the Plus version for Patrons we get deeper still and talk about how entities can work with their hosts to reveal hidden knowledge. Hidden knowledge which often leads to poor life choices and destructive behavior. We discuss the impact of Meth use and why prisoners call it ‘the Devils drug’. Jerry goes on to detail how intrusive thoughts affect us all and how these entities access our memories to use them against us and what our defence is against these parasites and their intrusion. You can join the patron via the links below.
At 33 minutes the connection went and I got booted from the call so you will hear a drop out. As you no doubt know with this kind of subject matter this is a regular occurrence.
OK just a warning, there are references to serious mental health, self harm and suicide that some listeners may find upsetting. I want to be clear that the object of this show is the exploration of ideas and to listen to the testimony of Mr Marsinsky and not to diminish any individual's personal experiences.

We will be discussing the book “The Devil is Afraid of Me: The Life and Works of the World’s Most Popular Exorcist.” by angelologist Father Marcello Stanzione. The book narrates the true story of Father Gabriele Amorth, the former chief exorcist of the vatican who performed more than sixty thousand exorcisms over a thirty-year period in Rome. The book details the experiences Fr Amorth had during his career like the windows icing over during an exorcism in summertime in Rome, dealing the results of magical attacks and some startling manifestations including a possessed young man producing nails from his mouth. We compare elements of the accounts and techniques detailed with the Islamic equivalent and look at the reasons while individuals can be open to obsessions and possession and discuss the fate of fallen angels from both the catholic and fairy lore perspectives. | #24 / Joshua Cutchin & Timothy Renner on 'Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon'. | 13 Jul 2020 | 01:11:30
This week we are joined by Joshua Cutchin and Timothy Renner to discuss the book they co-authored, ‘Where the Footprints End’, an exploration into the high strangeness surrounding the bigfoot phenomena. Joshua is an author and musician, and a well known figure in paranormal circles having appeared on some of the best known paranormal podcasts out there. Timothy is also a musician and author and on top of that he's a brilliant illustrator and host of the superb Strange familiars podcast. So, what’s the premise of the book? Despite their apparently physical nature, bigfoot and its hairy hominid kin consistently appear mired in High Strangeness—the peculiar, ineffable, and nonsensical absurdities so often encountered in paranormal phenomena. Some sightings seem more consistent with mythology than biology. Bigfoot often present supernatural attributes, like luminescent eyes or the ability to pass, ghostlike, through structures. Anomalous lights are regularly seen in areas of frequent sasquatch activity. Footprints persistently, if rarely, display odd numbered toes, and—most bafflingly—bigfoot trackways suddenly terminate in the middle of open, untouched terrain. In Volume 1 of Where the Footprints End: High Strangeness and the Bigfoot Phenomenon, authors Joshua Cutchin and Timothy Renner carefully examine not only the intersection of hairy apemen with global folklore—of poltergeists, faeries, extraterrestrials, magic, witches, ghosts, and archetypal women-in-white—but also question the fundamental assumptions underlying contemporary cryptozoological beliefs surrounding bigfoot. | #23 / Fr Dwight Longenecker on immortal combat, spiritual warfare & the invisible world. | 07 Jul 2020 | 00:34:12
As you know the point of this podcast is to look at all sides of the puzzle of non-physical non human intelligences, this week we’ll be looking at things from a Catholic perspective. To that end our next guest, Fr. Dwight Longenecker talks to the Catholic concept of Spiritual warfare detailed in his book Immortal Combat - Confronting the Heart of Darkness
Brought up as an Evangelical in the USA, Fr. Dwight Longenecker earned a degree in Speech and English before studying theology at Oxford University. He served as a minister in the Church of England, and in 1995 was received into the Catholic Church with his wife and family. The author of over twenty books and booklets on Catholic faith and culture, Fr Longenecker is also an award winning blogger, podcaster and journalist. He is pastor of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Greenville, South Carolina.
Fr Longenecker maps out how Catholicism changed to a more ‘love and light’ position and in doing so lost its awareness of actual evil forces. We discuss the danger of pretending evil doesn’t exist and his personal experience with exorcisms. There are some sections I’ve bleeped out to remove names and location of those involved in the exorcism.

| #19 / Morgan Daimler on 'The Good People', real Fairy experiences, fairy Lovers and possession. | 27 May 2020 | 01:38:31 | |
Firstly, they are called 'The Good People' now that we've got that out of the way please welcome author Morgan Daimler.
Morgan has been a practicing witch since the 1990's and studying Irish folklore and mythology since the mid-90's. Growing up around the Irish-American diaspora contributed to this interest which came to include other Celtic language speaking cultures, such as Scottish and Welsh, and eventually the more loosely connected Norse, with a focus on folklore relating to fairies. Morgan began teaching and writing about fairies in the early 2000's and has presented workshops on related topics in the United States and Ireland as well as presenting as an independent scholar at the University of Ohio's 'Fairies and the Fantastic' conference in 2019.
I got huge amount out of this conversation, and I'm very grateful to Morgan for her openness and for sharing the wisdom and knowledge she's gained researching and engaging with this subject matter. It brought the phenomena of Jinn and 'The Good people' a lot closer for me. In fact it's really solidified what I already suspected in that this is a phenomena that communicates using the symbols that are culturally relevant to the witness.
We even had the classic technical problems when discussing how dangerous these entities are which is essentially a paranormal badge of honour and a clear indication that we were in the right territory.
If you have your own experiences be sure to leave them in the comments below or reach out to me.

Dana Fox is a trainee Gestalt psychotherapist, a practicing Magickian most notably in visionary magic. He’s been drawn to the subject of UFO’s and the paranormal for as long as he can remember. In the this episode Dana talks about Non-terrestrial writing/communication. Things seen on the exterior and interior of witnessed alien craft; writing which has been the result of possession; and so-called automatic writing and channelled texts. Our use of written language sets humans apart from many of the other beings on earth. It is also apparent the we share this method of communication with the ultraterrestrial intelligences who come here still. As if that’s not enough we talk phantom airships, Kenneth Arnold, Black Triangles and Ghost rockets. Plus the incredible link he has made between Rendleshem forest and an incident in Utsuro Bune in 1830.

| S2 #30 / Nathaniel Gillis on the parasitic phenomenon | 29 Dec 2023 | 01:05:03 | |
Nathaniel Gillis, an author and religious demonologist, with over two decades work under his belt following his experience in a haunted house. He has actively redefined the understanding of haunting phenomena, ghosts, and high strangeness and is frequently cited for his unique perspective on the demonic, emphasizing "The reason they are playing by different rules is because they are playing a different game,". Nathaniel brings a unique twist to his exploration of the Devil, demons, and unclean spirits. In his research, he suggests a potential connection between these supernatural entities and aliens. This unconventional perspective that expands the boundaries of traditional demonology and explores the intersections between different realms of the paranormal. Nathaniel posits the notion that demons engage in a form of self-replication through a process involving hybridism. According to this concept, these supernatural entities are believed to create hybrid beings through interactions with humans, which are often depicted as seductive demons. This unconventional theory suggests a link between the demonic realm and the potential for a unique form of reproduction, involving the creation of hybrid entities that share characteristics from both demonic and human origins. It is a speculative and imaginative interpretation within certain mythological and paranormal narratives. In the plus show we get into what these spirits might want? We get into some deep stuff on hybridism and how this self-replication happens. To quote Nathaniel, possession to us is pregnancy to them. To close out Nathaniel goes into some of the cases he’s investigated. Keep in touch? https://linktr.ee/darraghmason Music by Obliqka https://soundcloud.com/obliqka
