“My Identity is Ever-Changing”: A Conversation with Performance Artist and Content Creator, Violet Stanza

Season 2 · Episode 12

vendredi 16 juin 2023Duration 56:58

On this episode of Speaking Queerly, Mallory and Daria talk about music, clothing, finding queer community and more with Violet Stanza (she/they), a New York-based performance artist and content creator. After graduating with a BFA in musical theatre and minor in communications in May 2022, Violet dove head first into the New York arts scene, and has spent the last year exploring opportunities from music directing to acting to modeling, and (perhaps her favorite) writing and performing her original music. She’s written, recorded, and produced four singles entirely independently, which are streaming wherever music is available. She’s a trained singer whose instrumental arsenal currently includes viola, guitar, piano, ukulele, and violin.Violet also thoroughly enjoys working in theatre as a music director and sound designer, and their work in these spaces centers around highlighting their cast’s natural voices and abilities; she is a firm believer that everyone deserves to bring their authentic selves to every rehearsal room. When she’s not working on her music, leading a rehearsal room, at a shoot, or at her stylist job, she can often be found making content for her viral social media channels ranging from stylish “Get Ready with Me” videos to advocating for trans rights and encouraging queer youths to step into their power. You can follow Violet on TikTok and Instagram at @VioletStanza, and check out her music on all streaming platforms.Have a question you want answered or a topic you’d like discussed on Speaking Queerly?
