I was so so wrong. For years, I had no interest in visiting Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because of it being a convention resort. Maybe something about the theming just didn't land with me the way other resorts did. Whatever the reason, all of that changed in 2019. On a rainy summer evening in July of that year, I joined a friend for a visit to Gran Destino Tower, the brand new addition to this resort. I fell in love with the Tower -- its restaurants and lounges, its public spaces, and, yes, its ambient music. Over time, I returned to this resort again and again, mostly for the Tower. But eventually I ventured out to explore the rest of the Coronado Springs property. And...it was wonderful! Still is! Winding paths, courtyards, fountains, parks...every corner I turned provided new discoveries -- visually and audibly. To discover something delightfully new in Walt Disney World is, well, maybe you know the feeling. It's amazing and refreshing and, well, this time it was also a little embarrassing. After all, I had put off visiting this resort for so long. And I was wrong to do that. I allowed preconceived notions to influence me. I know better than that. At least I do now.

It's with this in mind that I hope you give a listen to this resort's amazing soundscape. Let the sounds and the tunes transport you to the desert southwest, and beyond. Listen as the modulating calls of cicadas, remind us that it's summer. Don't be surprised to find your toe tapping or hips swaying in your chair as you are drawn in by the rhythms of the Spanish guitar.

When General Electric approached Walt Disney to create an imaginative, immersive attraction for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, they lit of a spark of inspiration that still burns bright to this day. Everything about his “Progressland” pavilion was revolutionary and one-of-a-kind. From the clockwise rotating theater to the advanced Audio Animatronics and the original song composed by the incomparable Sherman Brothers, it was an experience entirely unique to this venue of dreamers and innovators.

Thousands of people came, saw, and were mesmerized by Walt Disney’s “Progressland,” but even he could have had no idea at the time just how treasured and beloved his show would become in the decades that followed.

Known today as Walt Disney’s “Carousel of Progress,” this rotating spectacle of American innovation has taken up permanent residence at Walt Disney World, inside Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom. A tribute to Walt’s quintessential enterprise and ambition, this attraction remains a space of nostalgia, warmth, comfort and connection to the Disney that once was, and a place to remember the leaps and bounds of progress that have brought us all to where we are today.

Once a temporary draw for summertime tourists in mid-century America, this truly timeless experience is a celebration of possibility and a testament to the power of genuine curiosity. It is a tangible and observable manifestation of the ideals of the young and the young at heart, the dreamers and the doers; we who avidly seek joy in new discoveries and work toward a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.

And so we invite you to join us as we take our seats in this iconic revolving theater - the show is about to begin!

Soundscapes is all about celebrating the well known ambient spaces that trigger nostalgic joy in so many of us. And it's also about introducing listeners to some spaces that may have gone undiscovered, overlooked, or underappreciated. One of the things that I love about Disney parks and resorts is that they are full of surprises. Wonderful little audible gems that can only be appreciated by slowing down, maybe taking a moment to pause, and savouring these incredibly imagineered spaces. It turns out that the entrance to Star Tours in Disney's Hollywood Studios is one of these places. I'm not sure how many times I passed through this area without fully appreciating it, but one relatively recent night, I happened to be standing in this area, taking in the scene, when I realized there was an abundance of wonderful ambient sound that had somehow missed my ears during many, many previous visits.

Of course, I immediately knew I needed to capture this moment and share it with you!

What you'll hear, beneath the towering evergreens of this faraway Ewok planet, is a Soundscape thriving with life and activity. This place serves as a sanctuary, a haven from the galaxy’s distant rumblings.

It seems that even the farthest reaches of the Galaxy hold Magic reminiscent of places that feel like home. Here, we find a warm whisper of welcome, a call to relax and let the sounds of droids and battleships intermingle with the wildlife and tree canopies rustling in the wind. Even in the midst of what is ostensibly a Star Wars production set, we find a quiet moment of joy and contentment, a space to be utterly at ease, and one with the story.

The Star Wars Saga has stood the test of time, not just for its exceptional humanity, but for its ability to find us where we are and bring us Here, to spaces that feel both familiar and ethereal, out-of-this-world and entirely within our element.

We are joined by our collective, shared journey, and all that we seek along the way. The Rebels and the Revelers, the Resistance and the Reflective…seeking harmony; to bring our world into balance. Light and darkness, chaos and calm, Magic held in the moments of Mundane. Right Here in Endor, or in the breathtaking embrace of your own backyard; right Here With the Magic that connects us all.

Inspired by the historic promenade known as the Piazza San Marco, the Italy Pavilion is an uncanny replica of Venice. Positioned in the heart of EPCOT’s World Showcase, the elegant stone archways of Doge’s Palace and the iconic Campanile are easily distinguishable amongst the pyramids and pagodas of the other represented nations. They are time-honored and steadfast, resilient as the people who call the Adriatic coastal city their home. They have known what it means to persevere, to greet each new day as an opportunity to celebrate life, and to find joy in the midst of their circumstances, whatever they might be.

And so it is through that lens that we explore this pavilion today, with all its colors and textures and intricate details. Everywhere we look, there are spaces that seem designed for quiet moments of reflection. Hidden alcoves and stairways to nowhere ignite our curiosity, while verandas climbing with vines inspire thoughts of Shakespearean romance. Fountains and porticos crowned with exquisite tiles and mythological statues speak through the intervening centuries. Here, every moment is a chance to engage in the rich and enduring culture that has made Italy the object of wanderlust for generations.

Italians are a people with a knack for taking something simple and creating something enchanting. Terraces and tables laden with handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and indulgent layers of tiramisu, are a mouthwatering tribute to this affinity. And every clink of a glass, twirl of a fork, and shout of “Saluti” is a swell of sound that lets us know we’re being welcomed into somewhere special, somewhere unforgettable.

Perhaps we’ll enjoy an affogato from the courtyard steps, while Sergio the masterful, miming juggler entertains us with another captivating performance. Then maybe we'll stroll along the Venetian canals, making our way from footbridge to footbridge, listening to the water lap against the gondolas, as the sun begins to set in the distance.

That’s the Magic of Italy - a slower, more intentional way of life. So be Here in the pervasive joy of this place. Discover it, get lost in it, let it fill you with music and laughter and something ridiculously delicious. Enjoy the Sweetness of Doing Nothing, in this wonderful and beautiful pavilion.

Welcome back to our Grand Circle Tour of Disneyland. We pick up where we left off, entering the HUB from Frontierland where we encounter the park's quintessential horse drawn trolley. Next, we'll cross the drawbridge which serves as a medieval gateway to Sleeping Beauty Castle and into the quaint, Alpine village of Fantasyland. Here, we might topple down a rabbit hole and into Wonderland, soar into the sky with Dumbo, or take off on a wild ride with Mr. Toad. Maybe we’ll fly away to Neverland with Peter Pan, or traverse the magnificent Matterhorn, yodeling all the way, of course. Or we could opt for a more serene experience and board a picturesque canal boat, rowing gently down the stream into Storybookland, where tiny vignettes of classic fairytales are displayed for our delight.

Along the way, allow yourself to be reminded that the happiness we so ardently desire is with us all the time...simply waiting for us to find it. It lives around every corner, proclaimed in every story and song that we bring home with us from this Magical place. But for now, let's go explore and enjoy the sounds of this pixie-dusted Kingdom, where we take our next steps into our very own “Happily Ever After.”

To all who come to this happy place, welcome.

On a sweltering day in mid-July, nearly seventy years ago, Walt Disney spoke those timeless words in his dedication of his very first namesake park: Disneyland. He invited us to step into a world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.

Today, a fairytale castle gleams in the distance, our gateway to all the Magic that is held in Walt’s time-honored speech. Adventure and excitement await in the moments ahead, of that we can be sure. Whether we embark on a journey down the Rivers of America or swing down to New Orleans Square for some jazzy revelry and sweet beignets, these will be moments to treasure. To imagine walking right down the middle of Main Street USA with Walt. To encounter with him, those quiet moments of pause, where we discover joy that is priceless and peaceful and perfect. They are the alcoves and hideaways, the treehouses and terraces…the places where we stop just to take in the view, to truly relish the sensation of being in the Happiest Place on Earth. It’s a leisurely stroll through the tumbleweed town of Frontierland, or pausing to listen to the babbling brooks of Critter Country. The Magic continues to thrive in all of these places.

So I invite you to join me for the first part of a grand circle tour of Disneyland, as we experience it in a way that will speak to your nostalgic spirit and childlike heart. Along the way, I hope you’ll celebrate every joyful moment you encounter, savor every quiet space, and be Here With the Magic of the place that started it all.

To understand “Joie de vivre” is to understand the heart of France itself, the philosophy that casts a glimmer of romance and Magic on all things French. From culture to cuisine, cities to countryside, and the undeniable charisma of its people, it distinguishes this space from every other international vignette we find Here in EPCOT. “Joie de vivre” is loosely translated to mean an exuberant joy of life.  It may be experienced as a joy of everything, a comprehensive joy, a philosophy of life. Greater than emotion and more lasting than happiness, it’s a resiliency of spirit that can be found just as easily on a crowded street in Paris as in the fragrant lavender fields of Provence.

The layout of the France Pavilion is themed to its most popular city, Paris. It's meant to evoke the feel of a Parisian neighborhood with enchanting touches including wide boulevards, elegant rose gardens, fountains, and fascinating architecture matching the Belle Epoque era. The space is, of course, complete with the Eiffel Tower looming in the distance waiting to greet those who wish to explore the beauty of the pavilion in which it resides. It's no wonder why the France pavilion is often cited as a favorite among World Showcase guests. Soothed by the gentle splash of water and the lullaby of period music, we are swept away by the allure of the City of Light and off on a sensory adventure.

At its essence, “joie de vivre” is the joy we speak to so often around Here - the experience we invite when we pause and allow the Magic to come to us, to immerse ourselves in a story that our spirit knows by feeling, but not by name. It is indulgence - in every taste and smell and breathtaking sight - in the moments all around us which inspire reflection and elation, tranquility and delight.

We who are compelled to wander for the sake of wandering embark upon journeys for the sake of fulfilling an inherent need to go, to explore…to dwell richly in every moment and experience all the joy of life that comes from being Here With the Magic. Come along with me as we walk the streets of this intoxicating pavilion. On every street corner, in every café, in every springtime bloom and autumn breeze, whispers of joy stir the soul of every curious human spirit. Can you hear it?

Welcome to France.

Themed after revolutionary era colonial America, The Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square is a celebration of American patriotism and ideals. Settled along the Rivers of America, a moment of pause beneath the shade of the Liberty Tree is the perfect place to reflect on the significance of this space.

Looking out towards the Rivers of America, the steady churn of the Liberty Belle and her unmistakable whistle remind us of what it takes to breathe life into this American dream. Be resolute and bold. Be consistent and true. Neither this country nor Walt himself ever embarked on a new journey under the illusion that the path that lay ahead would be unencumbered or easy. We stumble, and we get up. We make mistakes, and we correct and learn from them. We reflect on our values and we keep moving forward…as a Nation, as a people, and as dreamers and doers of all ages and walks of life.

And so as you wander through the spaces that comprise this foray into the America of “Once Upon a Time,” listen for the sounds that echo through the centuries; the sounds that tell a story of victory and triumph, of failure and loss, of growth and the unwavering hope we have in tomorrow. America is not a fantasy; it’s no longer a new frontier. But nestled between those two lands, it is a space to find a moment to pause, a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come on our journey as a nation, and as individual people, and how much more there still is to learn and discover. Together.

And it’s in that frame of mind that we find joy, for wherever the path ahead might lead, we can always find our way back Here to this space where Magic is not so much marked by pixie dust as it is by a flag proudly waving in a warm summer breeze. Its broad stripes and bright stars are a beacon of hope, a promise of freedom, and an endeavor to create an even bolder and brighter tomorrow than the one we know today.

The American Dream…right Here With the Magic.
Welcome to Liberty Square.

It’s no secret to Disney fans that something Magical happened whenever Walt Disney and the Sherman Brothers gathered around the piano to dream, compose, and create together. Whimsical lyrics, jaunty tunes, and timeless storytelling were the hallmark of their partnership, and their project for the 1964 New York World’s Fair was no exception.

it’s a small world was born out of the Fair’s overarching theme, entitled “Peace Through Understanding.” This concept not only played perfectly into the hands of a man who refused to grow up, but also into the creative minds of imagineers with an unmatched talent for conveying powerful messages through the wholesome and hopeful eyes of a child. And although the attraction is largely known today as being the one with the surreptitiously catchy song, we who have a passion for Disney storytelling and its ability to touch our hearts at every age recall those words with fond reminiscence and a joyful heart.

“There is just one moon and one golden sun, and a smile means friendship to everyone. Though the mountains divide and the oceans are wide…”

When we come together to be Here With the Magic, we find genuine connection, a sense of community, and a space where we can set our childlike imagination free. Wherever you are, wherever you come from, wherever your journey might take you tomorrow, it's Here that we find it really IS a small world after all. It's Here we discover the joy that keeps us young at heart and our spirit light. And it's Here we feel connected to our entire global family by those golden threads of youth, woven in a timeless song and a story of togetherness.

Today we're immersing ourselves in the tranquility of EPCOT's The Seas with Nemo and Friends. I love everything about this space. Pausing outside to listen to the Pavilion's area music, the crashing of the Imagineered waves, the entertaining calls of "Mine Mine Mine!" And then there is the queue. A wonderful space in its own right, not to be missed. Here, we abandon the bright sunlight of the world above for the soothing depths of the sea. Within seconds, the boundless ocean seems to wrap us in a kind of peace that feels worlds away from our own.

Everything glimmers in the blue semi-darkness, bathing us in an ethereal glow. Here, creatures of all shapes and sizes float along in their unhurried tranquility, each a unique part of a greater story - including little clownfish and ancient sea turtles, dancing anemones and galloping seahorses.

I invite you to listen closely, not just to the gentle symphony that echoes the water’s movement, but to the joyful observations of those around us. Our fellow guests are as much the stars Here as the beloved characters we came to see. Hear their delight, their exclamations of excitement; the enamored adults who remain connected to their childlike wonder and imagination.

So come along with us and experience the true and lasting joy of this place.  Be Here in the Big, Blue World, where an ocean of childlike wonder and joy has been waiting for you. Just keep swimming.

Just imagine…if you were standing right Here over sixty years ago, you’d be standing in the middle of an orange grove. Rows upon rows of lush, fragrant trees as far as the eye can see. Once upon a time, a man named Walt Disney walked through this very grove and admired the sunlight peeking through the branches, the bright-floral scent, the sprawling vastness of it all…

He walked, and he admired, and he imagined what it could be. But instead of seeing the forest for the trees, he saw a castle with gleaming spires. He saw snow-capped mountains, tropical hideaways, and winding rivers. He envisioned a place that would preserve the tangible beauty of the natural world, intertwined with the fantasy, hope and adventure of a fairytale come to vivid life. He began to sketch in his mind’s eye a place where dreamers of all ages could find light in the darkness, joy in the journey, and Magic in every moment.

And so Disneyland was realized from that place of pause. From a quiet moment of reflection came generations of  incomprehensible joy, laughter, memories, and inspiration.

Today, we celebrate that unlikely beginning, and the timeless narrative that is still being written Here inside this living storybook. We come together beneath the stars to swim through oceans and fly off to Neverland, to travel across the Pridelands and sail across frozen fjords in search of the incomparable feeling of joyful nostalgia.

Disneyland is a haven for the childlike spirit, a place to feel carefree when the strains of the world are heavy. It is a place to find Walt's promise evermore fulfilled - that all who come to this happy place will find Magic in abundance.

And on this Magic night, as a spell of glimmering, shimmering light and color dances across the sky, we are reminded of that humble orange grove. We call to mind for a moment the unforgettable person who walked between the trees that once stood in this very space, and imagined something that would be forever known to generations of dreamers as Disneyland, the Happiest Place on Earth.

Be Here, and step into the Magic.

Animal Kingdom is a theme park like no other. It highlights the powerful connection we have with all living things of the past, present, and imagined future. It's own story is deliberately designed to be an evolving illustration, rendered in part, by nature’s hand,  Today, we gather at the edge of Discovery River, taking a moment to pause and celebrate the spirit of this incredible park with a viewing of Kite Tails; a show that caught me by surprise in terms of the emotional resonance I felt the first time I saw it.

A wind-song playing against a canvas of bright blue Florida sky, the kites that soar over the water recount some of Disney's most beloved stories, including The Lion King and The Jungle Book. Like the characters in those stories, the show is vivacious and vibrant and larger than life.

Take a seat and allow yourself to enjoy the wonderful pre-show melodies that so many guests miss out on hearing in their rush to the next attraction. There is Magic in the music that echoes all around us Here, in the lyrics we’ve heard a hundred times before. They are timeless, and still, entirely of this moment, not just for their whimsy, but for their wisdom and truth.

Just keep swimming.
Look for the bare necessities.
Remember who you are.

Here, where nature and Disney storytelling converge and invite us to be a part of the tale, we find inspiration and light. We feel solidarity in knowing that there are spaces like these all around us, rested in the elements that make up our marvelous planet. They are Here for us, welcoming us to turn to them for a moment of rest in the chaos, for a moment of encouragement to restore our spirit on the journey, and for a moment, to just enjoy being Here With the Magic.

Deep in the heart of Disney’s Polynesian Village resort awaits a tropical hideaway that is home to the spirit of aloha and adventure!

We begin on the terrace where the gentle strum of a ukulele and the distant sound of ferryboats crossing Seven Seas Lagoon are all that disrupt our oasis.

But inside the dimly lit, mysterious Grog Grotto, a cacophony of sounds meet our ears, each as mysterious and amusing as the next. It would not be out of the ordinary to see a zombie dragging itself by its...are those limbs? Or perhaps a diver in an inner tube, newly escaped from the mighty Nautilus. Anything goes in this ballyhoo of fun and whimsy, and we’re Here for it all. From the idyllic sunset views along the sprawling Tiki Terrace to the eruption of lights and sounds within, Trader Sam has certainly offered the best of both sides of the proverbial coin; the buried treasure we are constantly pursuing. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground holds a very special place in my heart. It was here that I began my love for Walt Disney World back in 1976, during my very first trip to the Vacation Kingdom. Through the eyes of my three year old self, this place was amazing. Expansive and woodsy. Nightly campfire singalongs attended by dancing chipmunks. The sweet smell of pine in the air. Boat rides to a place where a monorail went right through the center of a building -- not to mention that arcade! To this day, I can't even drive by the Fort Wilderness entrance without feeling a deep nostalgic joy.

As an adult, I find that it's a haven for the soul. There's simply no other place like it in any Disney space anywhere. It is, perhaps, the most audacious and wonderful example of Walt's impact on this Florida project. Can you imagine anything like this being created today? Just around the corner from the most visited theme park in the world, there is this respite from the whirlwind of adventure and celebration. Here, Disney has allowed the natural environment to deliver the Magic in the most subtle ways. Everything moves at a decidedly slower pace, and this mixture of simplicity and ease grants us moment after moment of undisturbed, untouched serenity.

And I can't think of a better way to explore this Magical space than by a slow morning meander in a kayak. Here, we have a chance to be unhurried. To release, to surrender…an opportunity to give ourselves over to the journey and the steady rhythm of rowing, the catharsis of the methodical movement. Where we’re going doesn't matter. All that matters right now is that we’re Here.

Listen to the rustle of a breeze through the branches; the chirp of cicadas; the occasional trill of a songbird; the lap of an oar on the water.

Imagine the ripples of water dappled by sunlight; the oak trees waving lazily beneath Toy Story clouds.

Feel the gentle swaying of our kayak as we glide past grassy banks and under bridges.

Now sit back and relax. We'll take care of the rowing.

Disney California Adventure has always been a celebration of dreamers, of those who dare to take a chance on a single spark of inspiration, who have the audacity to pursue a dream that is big and unusual, when most others have trouble seeing the vision at all, or ridicule it as fantasy. But we are blessed to live in a world where so many talented people pursue those ideas, nonetheless. And where countless others, possessing their own great talents and skills, align themselves with one another to truly do the impossible.

Generations have benefited from Walt Disney possessing a strength of purpose and vivid imagination, the likes of which the world has rarely known. But even that wasn't enough. He also had an unrivaled ability to inspire so many more people to turn his vision into reality, and to continue caring for it after he himself was long gone.

Walt's timeless legacy is alive in the hearts of all of us who return to the carefully created stories that his Studio and Parks brought to life. We seek out Disney experiences, products, and content for comfort, delight, and inspiration. They are a haven for us, contrived from a place of longing, of yearning for something we know is real and true and tangible…all because we’ve known it and seen it and felt it before. And it's a beautiful thing knowing that this engagement has fueled the dreams of subsequent generations of people across all industries and disciplines, many of whom have chosen to commit their talents to Disney. A creative cycle that began with Walt.

And so, we are Here to commemorate that monumental legacy, those timeless stories, and the infinite Magic that they hold for dreamers of all ages. So when the sun retreats below the horizon and our day in Disney California Adventure winds down, it seems only fitting that the final moments in this Park be marked by a grand and unforgettable finale called World of Color.

The show opens with Walt's voice reminding us that "every child is blessed with a vivid imagination." And so, as we listen, let's imagine the stories and characters coming to life before us. Allow the music and the feelings it inspires to help us reconnect to that part of ourselves kept hidden from the world - our deepest desires, our hopes against all hope. They validate our human experience, connect us to one another, and give life to our dreams. They remind us that we are never truly alone; that we are a part of these narratives just as much as they are a part of us. And so we carry them with us and find them again and again.

Thank you, Walt, for this Wonderful World of Color.

Quiet moments of joy are all around us. We feel them in the first moments of our day, when the sun is just peeking over the horizon. We see them in an early summer evening, when the fireflies emerge, like magic, from the grass around our feet. We hear them in the crashing of ocean waves and in the melodies of songbirds.

But moments of joy aren't always quiet. They can also be experienced in boisterous and seemingly chaotic places. On city streets and morning commutes, among the knife-and-fork clattering of a busy restaurant or amidst a jam-packed fireworks crowd on Main Street, U.S.A. These moments are quiet in the sense that we feel at home, welcome, where everything around us seems to slow down and feels, well, joyful!  Time seems to cease its perpetual marathon and we feel, for just a moment, like there’s nowhere we’d rather be.

One of these places can be found on the outer rim of a galaxy far, far away, where nightfall brings a cinematic sense of wonder and intrigue to a planet named Batuu. Well into the evening, the streets of Black Spire Outpost become a star-strewn haven of serenity, well, except for the legendary spot boasting the best libations in the Galaxy: Oga’s Cantina.

Perhaps one of the most improbable places for us to go in search of an ambient moment of joy, Oga’s Cantina is alive with revelry and laughter. Often crowded and always celebratory, this space is anything but peaceful or meditative. Still, the nostalgia and joy that so many of us feel being right Here, right now…well, that is truly a Force to be reckoned with. Looking around the room, we smile recognizing the awe and delight of others around us, feeling connected to one another by our love for a shared story, of another world we can step into whenever this one gets to be just a little too much.

It is Magic, pure and uplifting and undeniable. It binds us together. Here, we too are now part of the narrative, transported away from our realities and into the blissful unreality of another world, of a galaxy far, far away.

Here, we are one With the Magic, and the Magic is With us. ‘Til the spire!

As twilight descends softly upon the Magic Kingdom, a certain quaint, provincial town on the outskirts of Fantasyland comes into focus under the warm dancing glow of torchlight. In the heart of the village, Gaston’s Tavern echoes with music and laughter, inviting both intrigue and curiosity, as well as a respite from the evening chill. Despite being billed as "The manliest of manly places," inside, the atmosphere is both lively and comfortable, with an open hearth and a roaring fire which creates a warm and cozy ambience. Antlers of every sort indicate, with no attempt at subtlety, that this is a sort of hunting lodge. Though the proprietor of this bustling establishment is symbol of inflated ego and narcissism, the locals who work here ensure that our experience is far from that. It has a generous feel -- a place to relax and unwind after a day spent in the wilderness of queue lines and unpredictable weather.

Here, families and friends gather to share a meal and make a memory. Chapters of captivating stories might be read by the fireside, while daydreams of adventure in the great, wide somewhere seem to dance in the flames.

From our position by the fireplace, the merriment and chatter all around us seems to amplify our contentment, rather than disturbing it. Like listening to the hum of the subway or the familiar sounds of our favorite neighborhood coffee shop, this is a scene that cannot be found or recreated anywhere else.

The moments we spend by firesides are powerful. Whether getting lost in the labyrinth of our own imagination or sharing tales as old as time, or new, these spaces can inspire our futures and light tomorrow's paths.

An island oasis in the warm, Bahamian waters of the Atlantic, Disney’s Castaway Cay is a muse for daydreamers and wayfinders alike. A lush, tropical haven dotted with swaying palms and painted on a canvas of deep, blue sky, this place is a treasure trove of family friendly tranquility.

Today, we have treated ourselves to a private cabana, providing all the shade, tunes, and views that we could possibly desire! Step inside and feel all your stress melting away as we settle into a hammock, gently swaying in pace with the steady breath of the waves we can hear in the distance. We've opted for a selection of Hawaiian music to help us further settle into this Caribbean paradise. Why not?

Later, we move closer to the beach, setting our chair close to the water's edge. The warm sunshine, refreshing breeze, and cool water gently lapping at our feet feels like an indulgent gift to our senses. The salty air skims across the gentle sea in front of us, as the tide washes over the sand in soft hums. In ripples of laughter the day ambles on, in swinging hammocks and fickle sandcastles, wading in the water and chasing the sun.

While quiet moments of joy abound Here on Castaway Cay, they can also be found in the most unlikely places, from the patterns of our everyday to the seemingly humdrum and mundane. For me, each moment offers up its own tiny island of paradise. What makes these moments so precious is that they are fleeting. Sometimes it's the situation that is ephemeral: a rainbow, a sunset, the embrace of an old friend, that first sip of coffee in the morning, or the passing cloud that so closely resembles a certain mouse. Sometimes, like Here on this Caribbean beach, the experience is always waiting for us. It's just that we can't be here all of the time. That's ok.  As long as we remember to pause, to be present, and to savour the time that we do have in those moments and in these places.

That's why I've found it so important to capture some of these moments to share, with you. And I'm so glad you've taken the time out of your day to be Here, with me, and with the Magic.

To meander through a garden, listening to the babbling water, entranced by the delicate dance of the birds and butterflies…is a moment that instantly calms me. Helps me enter into a more contemplative, even meditative state. It seems to untie the spiritual or emotional knot that I didn't even notice was there. But now it's better. Just taking a moment to be -- to really be -- in this space and just be Here. I feel the same way when I'm hiking in the hills, walking through a forest, or even just sitting at the edge of a pond in my neighborhood. It feels nice to just be, even if only for a moment. To take a moment to pause, to step away, and to be Here With The Magic.

Walt Disney wholeheartedly believed that our ability to experience joy, happiness, hopefulness, and peace could be found more generously in nature than in any other context or setting. It's no so surprise, then, that the man who would create and later inspire the building of so many themed experiences around the world, most known for their E ticket attractions, would also be deliberate in ensuring that more nature-oriented spaces would find a home in the parks -- offering an oasis in the midst of the more thrilling adventures being experienced just steps away.

Today we enjoy the tranquility of the dining gardens of Flame Tree Barbecue. The first time I visited, I was struck by the juxtaposition of it all. How could a place with this name play host to such a restorative space. But it does. Veiled in the smoky, enticing aroma of a summertime barbecue, this place, loosely inspired by Balinese gardens, is actually perfect for a picnic or an afternoon of relaxation.

Like the guests dining here, tropical birds find sustenance by the water’s edge, their vibrant hues and harmonies reflected in the rhythms and flowers all around us. Glances of sunlight peek through the leaves rustling gently in a mild breeze. In the distance, we hear the melody and percussion of passing character flotillas -- Animal Kingdom's water-based version of a cavalcade.

Away from the crammed queues and itineraries of digital genies, this is a place that invites a breath, a pause, a lull in the action in favor of, well, absolutely nothing.

A richly overgrown garden, hidden away in the heart of Walt Disney World, preserved for the joy-seekers and the finders, keepers - the ones who know that Magic can come from anywhere, and the ones who desire more than anything to be Here.

Magic Kingdom Entrance Plaza07 Apr 202200:31:07
Soundscapes: Magic Kingdom Entrance Plaza

In the bustling entrance plaza to the Magic Kingdom, there is an unmistakable buzz of excitement all around us. Before we walk beneath the train station tunnel and enter into the sunlit splendor of Main Street, U.S.A., there's a moment that seems to whisk our worries away leaving us full of joyful anticipation for what's to come.

Maybe you've spent time here. Waiting for the rest of your group to arrive or finalize that stroller rental. Perhaps you've stood in line to have a Photopass photographer take your picture in front of the iconic train station. Or maybe, like me, you've taken a seat under the shade of a tree, just to pause for a moment -- to savor this special space -- as you watch other guests rush by on their way to a favorite attraction.

The Magic Kingdom is full of incredible things to see and do. It's understandable that many want to get right to it! But it's also full of moments like these that are meant to be savoured. Pause and allow that feeling of anticipation to be recognized. All that you've planned for it about to unfold. Exhilaration sparkles like pixie dust as we embark upon our journey Here. Wonder is held in every moment. In this place whose very existence is a testament to the truth that no dream is too great.

Now, imagine if every day was like this one, if each new morning brought with it a sense of anticipation, this feeling that something wonderful is waiting just around the corner. Joy, like Magic, is everywhere! It's living within and moving alongside us each and every day, waiting for us to pause, to look up and all around, to sense its presence. There you are.

If we can remember the joy that we feel Here in this place, then we can remember the Magic too, and then carry it with us into every moment of each and every day. So, dare to dream. Let joy surround you. Reach out and find your happily ever after.

Welcome to the Most Magical Place on Earth!

Stepping into Disneyland feels like receiving a warm embrace from an old friend. This is an especially nostalgic place since it is literally the only one of his namesake parks where Walt once actually walked. The scale of the original castle, the roaming characters, and the kinetic energy of the main street vehicles contribute to Disneyland's unmistakable charm.

The warmth we feel, the sense of welcome and belonging…that is the spirit of Walt living on in everyone who comes to this happy place with the same spirit of adventure, the same childlike wonder, the same joyful exuberance. We are the continuation of his dream, preserving it in every moment that we engage in the timeless story of this place - every moment that we are Here With the Magic.

So come along with us and explore the sights and sounds of the most charming castle hub in all the world. Listen to the laughter and music that emanates all around us, memories being made that will last a lifetime.

Welcome to the Happiest Place on Earth!

There’s nothing quite like waking up in the middle of the ocean. The scent of the salty sea air. The sound of the waves lapping against the hull of the ship. The feeling that you could just sit here, in the magic of it all, for the rest of the day.

Imagine yourself stepping out onto your private verandah... The gentle cadence of the waves is sure and steady this morning. Looking up, you see that the sea and the sky seem to stretch on forever, an endless horizon draped in an array of colors: coral and crimson, soft pink, periwinkle blue.

The balmy, Caribbean breeze greets you like a warm embrace as you journey towards some distant island paradise. Magic as boundless as the vast, open sea seems to encircle this moment, drawing every detail into focus, rendering this scene completely unforgettable in contrast to the lives we lead back on dry land. But those lives are so far removed from this place, and whatever concerns we left behind can't find their way to us Here.

It’s pure wonder -- this place of in between. Here, there is only harmony; a symphony of sights and sounds to enchant our spirit and uplift our soul. Engulfed by a panoramic sunrise cresting over the ends of the Earth, there is nothing obstructing our view, nor our ability to be fully present, awoken, alive.

No noise, no distractions, nowhere to be but Here. The Disney Magic has never been truer to its namesake than on a morning like this one. A quiet moment of joy found beneath a vault of glorious sky envelops us as we sail ever onward, Here With the Magic of a sunrise at sea.

(2:24) Since Walt Disney World welcomed its first guests back in the autumn of 1971, this Most Magical Place on Earth has inspired wonder and awe, excitement and surprise in guests of all ages. For over five decades, it has been so much more than a vacation destination, but has become a living storybook wherein we find ourselves at the center of the tale.

Inside every chapter is an epic journey portending to unfold. On every page we find an invitation embossed with each of our names, inviting us to chart a course for adventure. A magic carpet ride, perhaps, or aboard a pirate ship bound for Neverland…oh, the wondrous places we’ll go!

All around us, we encounter intricacy and intentionality in every moment - a testament to the innovative minds who have brought these stories to life, spurred on by their sovereign ethos that it’s kind of fun to create the impossible. Here, the philosophy is this: that the only thing standing in the way of your dreams becoming your reality is your own imagination.

Today, we invite you to set that imagination free and come along with us as we carry our dreams to new heights. Climb aboard your very own chariot in the clouds and be Here With the Magic - we’re taking to the skies and setting sail aboard the Disney Skyliner!

Rising high above the waterways and pavilions of EPCOT’s World Showcase, our journey begins with a peek into the romantic courtyards and elegant gardens of beautiful France. Soaring over the world-renowned Gusteau’s, we can almost smell the fluffy, sugar-dusted crêpes and nutty fromage wafting from Chef Remy’s kitchen.

Up, up, and away we go, waving a wistful “Au Revoir” to charming Paris. After a quick little jaunt above the pastel whimsy and swinging ragtime of the Boardwalk, we find ourselves at once in the heart of Walt Disney World.

From way up Here, we can spot the temples and clocktowers of World Showcase gliding past alongside our gondola, a curious collection of international treasures reaching toward the heavens. The geodesic shell of Spaceship Earth glints in the bright sunlight, striking and futuristic against its more historic counterparts at EPCOT Center.

(7:05) In the distance, a majestic kingdom looms larger and larger as we approach, stunning and regal against a brilliant blue sky. Disney’s Riviera Resort, a celebration of the azure coasts of Italy and the opulence of the South of France, this European seaside retreat is a feast for the senses and a joy to discover.

Lavish with luxury and an escape into our most rose-colored wanderlust daydreams, the sparkling lagoon and wrought-iron balconies that surround this place are breathtaking to behold. And although we’re just passing through, our excitement for what other wonders we might encounter as we continue on our journey blooms with every second.

(8:47) Onward we sail, ascending skyward once again. This time, we’re trading in the opulence of the Riviera for the laid-back vibes of the Caribbean. Nestled in a lush, tropical wilderness and bordered by silken, white-sand beaches, the quaint island hideaway of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort burst with vibrant color and vivid life.

Here, each charming village is enrobed in shades of turquoise and aquamarine, coral and sunshine yellow. The steel drum sounds of the tropics and the easy, breezy atmosphere seem to enliven our spirit even as we drift above - a quiet moment of joy above the sweet serenity of our own Caribbean oasis.

While we could happily prolong this island interlude, our Skyliner convoy has landed in the Hub, where we are promptly whisked away once again to new, fantastic points of view. This time, we’re headed along Hourglass Lake on a grand circle tour of some larger-than-life childhood memories to inspire nostalgia for all ages.

(10:31) At Disney’s Pop Century Resort, the sock hops and Walkmans which brought music and laughter to each distinctive decade are preserved in a living time capsule. An escape to a simpler time, the retro feel and novelty shapes and colors make this an unforgettable place to discover. Every moment Here exudes reminiscence and fun; a chance to experience the joys of generations and find Magic in the fabric of our yesterdays.

And as we sail through time, back to yesteryear, we find our gaze wandering across the lake to Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Here, we find concept art and sketches from some of our favorite Disney stories practically springing off the page. From the Pridelands and Route 66 to a plunge Fathoms Below into the Big, Blue World of Nemo, Ariel, and all those beloved Under the Sea friends, this is a place that captivates the young and the young at heart, bringing fairytales and adventures to life in truly spectacular ways.

Humming a Hakuna Matata tune all the way, we bid a fond farewell to our redolent memories and allow our escort to return us to the hustle and bustle of the Skyliner terminal, but only for a moment. Once again we careen into the clouds aboard our airborne carriage, this time heading for all the glitz and glamour of Tinseltown and the gleaming black spires of Galaxy’s Edge.

(17:00) Away we go, into the blissful blue and off toward the marquees and marvels of the golden age of Hollywood.

Sound stages scattered across film lots and the ornate exterior of the incomparable Chinese Theater are visible just ahead, and the shadowy outline of the Hollywood Tower Hotel looms at the end of Sunset Boulevard, intriguing and foreboding in equal measure. Although our excursion into this bustling young movie town is a brief and round trip affair, the exhilarating energy of this place is palpable even from the sky. A glimpse into the Hollywoodland of Walt’s early career, there is joy and anticipation wrapped in each and every moment.

(22:05) Still, we’ve got one final leg of our journey to complete, and our cortège is already gliding back into the station once again before we are revived from our Golden State reverie. Soon we find ourselves yet again greeted by the postcard panorama of the Riviera, picturesque and perfect as we left it before.

Before we know it, the tapered zenith of the Tour de Eiffel is growing larger as we descend into the International Gateway, bringing our Skyliner journey at an end at last.

Where we’ll go from Here, well, that’s a story that is still unwritten. Whether we soar through the skies or sail along crystalline waters or let our own two feet lead the way, there is unlimited Magic for those willing to make the journey. Each step is one in the right direction where imagination is our guide and joy is our companion.

It is the journey, after all, and not the destination, which fill the pages of the most magnificent stories. From tales of travel to faraway lands to gambles down rabbit holes and into the wonderland of our cherished memories, it is that first spark of inspiration which leads us down new paths, intuition mingling with curiosity and leading us into a world of Magic that we can return to time and time again.

It is the journey that evokes the most powerful memories. Being Here, surrounded in the skies by invigorating joy, we feel emboldened to say yes to new adventures, to keep moving forward.

Onward, ever onward, we know that each and every moment will be filled with wonder, with sights and sounds and stories to lift us up when we feel low, and with Magic to bring us to our happiest places whenever we summon the spirit of our imagination and take to the skies.

(2:48) Along the serene Rivers of America and nestled on the grassy banks, there is an island hidden in the heart of the marshy wilderness. Most who explore the tumbleweed town of Frontierland on the opposite shore spare little more than a glance for the landscape beyond, but we who have known its Magic head for the docks at the edge of Thunder Mesa, eager to board a raft headed for the outskirts of Tom Sawyer Island.

There is something spiritual, a palpable shift that happens when we board our river raft and leave the mainland of the Magic Kingdom behind. It is a sense of intentional departure…a quest!

We are embarking on an adventure into the sovereign state of childhood daydreams, where boundless imaginations and inexhaustible summer afternoons meant uninhibited exploration. It is a place where we are invited to remember what it felt like to wonder so expansively, to wander so freely and fearlessly, creating worlds far more rich with possibility than the ones we inhabited.

Arriving at Huck’s Landing, we find ourselves standing on an unassuming wooden dock overlooking the sprawling Kingdom beyond. Suddenly, in a place where every detail has not been contrived for us, our imaginations whir into action, imposing context and stirring memories to fill in these very deliberate gaps.

(6:36) Winding pathways and lush, overgrown trees entice our curiosity, and even the steady rainfall could not squelch that delight so reminiscent of youth. Jump in a puddle - we dare you! It’s good for the soul. Around Here, a rainy day only adds to the mystery and excitement, and we have a feeling we’re about to encounter plenty of both.

(8:30) Named for the man who penned the tales of Tom Sawyer and his friends, Fort Langhorne pays tribute to Samuel Longhorn Clemens, more popularly recognized by his pen name: Mark Twain. A fortress accessible only by suspension bridge, Fort Langhorne holds surprises around every corner.

(15:06) Inside the fort, we spot a horse barn and stables, complete with groomers keeping the animals snug and dry inside. But we who are fearless in the face of danger (and puddles) climb to the top of Fort Langhorne, scouting our trail from the lookout points and wending our way back down through the secret escape tunnel.

On our way back and halfway across Superstition Bridge, we are met by breathtaking views of the Magic Kingdom. Here, we catch a  glimpse of how far we’ve traveled, castaways onto the island of eternal youth.

(29:00) Back on the main island, it seems that Tom and Huck have anticipated the arrival of kindred explorers, and have put up some very helpful sign posts to direct us this way and that. “Barrel Bridge,” “Tom and Hucks Way,” and “The Other Way” leave a lot to the imagination, but as we’re guests on the imaginative playground of those two characters, it seems only fitting that we follow their sound advice. Plus, finding a quiet moment to take in a beautiful view is always our inclination, so off to the Barrel Bridge we go!

(30:55) A waterside pathway along the Rivers of America, a vista of still more captivating views of Liberty Square and Frontierland stretches out before us. Jutting out into the water and creating the illusion that we are held between one world and the next, this is perhaps the most serene spot in the entire park. We are neither a part of the scene nor disconnected from it. We are simply Here, held in a suspension of disbelief, a suspension of time and reality that engulfs us so entirely in the moment, we might remain for hours or even days without losing a single second.

(31:09) As if more tranquility could not be contained in a single space, we stumble upon a waterfall trickling down a hillside, a sort of creek flowing in cadence with the rain, an entrancing sort of elemental rhythm to slow our pace and give us pause. We hear the distant echo of the Liberty Belle setting sail for its sightseeing voyage, and not for the first time today, the image of a life spent blissfully in this riverbank paradise flickers across our minds like a sepia-toned memory of a reality that never was.

(34:00) It is this moment, more than our arrival or any we have experienced so far, which sets the tone for the rest of our journey. It is through this lens, a sort of extended release joy, through which we watch the delighted explorers wending their way through Scavenger’s Fort, their wonder enlivened with every new discovery and winding wooden trail. It is Here, in this mindfulness, that we watch an Ibis rest serenely at the edge of the creek, not wanting or worrying for anything at all.

Who’d have thought that Here, on this playground inspired by Mark Twain’s exuberant imagination, we would find incontrovertible peace. Magic, some might call it.

(38:34) And speaking of Magic, perhaps the most spellbinding space we’ll encounter on this island is not for the faint of heart (nor the helplessly claustrophobic). Old Scratch’s Mystery Mine is a feat of engineering, optical illusion, and a place only an imagination sustained by youth could conjure.

At the dark and ominous entrance to the cavern, Tom Sawyer himself has left us a note, advising that we “keep a sharp eye out” and “dont stop for nuthin” as we call upon our courage and wander inside. Along narrow pathways we meander, our curiosity quelling any apprehension.

(39:15) Up ahead, we spy a waterfall which seems to have spared no thought for such concepts us “gravity,” streaming ever upward and catching the light of dozens of glittering jewels waiting to be mined. A dazzling treasure, to be sure, but not the most priceless one we’ve found on our excursion to Tom Sawyer Island. Our minds retreating to what other quiet moments of joy our journey might have in store, we find reprieve from the cave’s confinement in the wide open space outside and the refreshing rainfall still falling all around us.

(41:19) Potter’s Mill stands sentinel on the edge of the Rivers of America, charming and quaint and beautifully preserved in time. Home to several songbirds who undoubtedly have found a haven in the rafters from the “some no good” who scared them away from the grist mill nearby.

(44:40) All at once retrieved from our reverie by the unmistakable clickety-clack of a runaway mine train and the even more recognizable screams of mingled fear and delight, we give way once more to that unguarded inquisition, and set off in pursuit of one last, daring adventure.

(46:57) Spelunking through the Cave of the mysteriously elusive “Injun Joe,” we find a hideout sporting a fascination of fossils embedded into stone walls, which jut out and reach toward the ceiling in the oddest formations that almost resemble...faces?

An eerie whistle of wind creeps through the cavern, and a bridge over a bottomless pit seems the only way through, the most bracing test of our courage thus far. Though, some satirical jungle cruise skippers might speculate that the return to civilization is far more foreboding.

(49:47) And so we pluck up our courage for that great feat, and head back out into the drizzle, which seems to have lightened during our cave exploration. Harper’s Mill seems to thrive on a more pervasive deluge, its water wheel churning around and around the grist mill in ceaseless earnest, collecting what it can from the low, gray clouds.

A quintessential scene of the old, deep south, this scene calls to mind sprawling front porches and slow harmonica serenades. We can picture ourselves rocking away until the stars scatter the countryside sky, sipping sweet tea and listening to the childhood tales of generations.

And as the Liberty Belle churns along the Rivers of America, sightseers enamored by the quaint little island they’ll only ever know from afar, we wear the secret of this place like a smile. Suddenly, the idea of leaving this place is not met with fretful hesitation. It’s not truly goodbye, after all, but “see you real soon.”

(51:00) Like a farewell to a lifelong friend, not unlike what Tom and Huck might exchange at summer’s end, we know we’ll meet again someday. When that day comes, we’ll pick up right where we left off (and maybe, finally, finish whitewashing that fence). For now, we’ve got a blissful afternoon full of memories to see us through, a wonderland of wandering to embark upon in our imagination.

In the story that unfolds in every orifice of Tom Sawyer Island, we have found a place held for us in each chapter. For those of us who seek Magic in the mundane…this is our escape to Neverland, our quiet moment of suspension and joy.

In the first chapter of any captivating story, we catch a glimpse of the journey we are about to embark upon, introduced to the cast of characters we will be traveling with, and begin to establish a sense of the burgeoning challenges and contexts we are about to step into alongside them.

In the living storybook that is EPCOT, we are the players, and as we step into the opening scene, our first glance of the unfolding narrative is one that promises adventure and discovery to fill innumerable pages.

A triumphant symphony plays an overture of great anticipation as we arrive at EPCOT Center, sending our imaginations whirring into life at once. Almost as though they were waiting in the wings all the while, listening for their cue, they spring into movement as we encounter the epicenter of the epic tale we are about to experience.

This is where our story begins - Here, aboard this grand and miraculous spaceship.

If the spectacular edifice of this futuristic vessel is any indication of all the wonder in store, then what are we waiting for? Hoist the anchors…we’re off to sail through the universe of time; to uncover the pieces of our human history lost to the ages, and unravel what they might be speaking to us through the intervening years as we look ahead to the future.

Along the way, we might find a treasure that we did not seek, Magic we did not expect to find. Though the trials and upheaval that have faced humanity since the dawn of time seem to be an inevitable, recurring theme as we wend our way through the centuries in our time machine, there is an equally pervasive feeling that is just as evident.

It is hope; a resilience and a constant yearning toward something greater that has spurred us on in times of trial, like a friend or an ally cheering from the sidelines.

It is this which propels us forward to welcome whatever might come. We find that our unbreakable spirit is no match for our circumstances, and it is this knowledge which allows us to find peace in the chaos, Magic in the mundane, hope in the heaviest moments of our own realities.

It is this which has persevered through the ages, this which has allowed us to dream, to find joy in the journey as we are spurred on by those who came before us, their shouts of encouragement ringing through time and space as clearly as if they stood by our side.

This is the story of EPCOT, the narrative conferred within the geodesic walls of our Spaceship Earth. That we might discover the truth about ourselves by looking to our past. That we might reach ever upward, empowered by the stories of those who went before us. That we might find hope and joy in the present, pausing to engage with all the wonder that surrounds us each and every day. And as we look to the future, that we might remember the Magic that finds us Here.

We can harness that Magic, looking to it for comfort that will sustain us on our way. It binds us together as a global community, a cast of characters in an epic tale that is still being written.

If 30,000 years of time travel have taught us anything, it is that we are all connected by a greater story, and that wherever our own might lead us, that truth can be our guiding light. Our capacity for hope, our pursuit of joy, our quest for Magic…these are the golden threads that bring us back Here, to our humanity and our purpose.

And as our time machine begins rotating backward for our return to Earth, we can rest in the peace of knowing that whatever the future might hold, we are embarking on the journey as one. Our dreams for the future are well within reach, and we can create the world of tomorrow together…one step at a time.

(3:07) Far from the gilded turrets of Cinderella Castle and the gleaming spires of Space Mountain, there is a hidden oasis in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, where whispers can be heard of legends long lost to the lush overgrowth climbing along riverbanks and into treetop dwellings.

Here, the persistent thrum of tiki drums is the very heartbeat of this place, inspiring the curious adventurer in each of us to wander deeper and deeper into the jungle…into the heart of Adventureland.

(5:12) Over the timbered drawbridge and into the warmth and welcome of the Sunshine Tree Terrace, the Little Orange Bird is the first of many friendly locals to greet us on our journey. From his favorite perch in the sunshine tree, he twitters away as the tropical aromas of coconut and pineapple, bright citrus and sweet vanilla swirl in the air. Intoxicating and irresistible, who could pass up a cool, refreshing treat on a hazy day in the Florida sunshine? Dole whip floats all around? We think so.

(6:24) Savoring our tropical delights, the bright flutes and steel drums sing in cadence with the flavors of the tropics on our palette, deepening our reverie into the warm, endless summertime of an island paradise.

On we wander, yielding to the journey and the unfolding story within this space as we savor each moment and detail, unconcerned with where exactly we’ll end up or how long it might take to get there.

(8:11) In the distance, we hear the unmistakable sound of a riverboat whistling into motion, churning along some waterway we cannot see. Its summons is inviting, but this lush little corner of the Kingdom is too charismatic to abandon so soon. There is still much to explore…

As we approach the rotunda of flying carpets soaring above Adventureland, we notice a mysterious arrangement of percussive sentinels to our left. Sidestepping the golden camel (he spits!) we discard our apprehensions in favor of curiosity.

(8:37) A quintet of whimsical tiki gods, each full of rhythm and riotous fun, seem to have enamored the youngest adventurers with their silly expressions and even sillier surprises. Filling the winding pathways with a hazy mist, their Magic is both playful and enigmatic, relieving trepidation and inviting curiosity.

Through the billowing fog and past the much drier wit and banter of the world-famous Jungle Cruise, a temple towers above almost every other structure in Adventureland, escalating in perfectly identical layers, like some enchanted confection crafted by a master pâtissier.

(9:27) Among the gardens and grounds leading to the legendary Magic within, we find another kind of Tropical Serenade. Here, rushing waterfalls and flourishing island foliage cultivate a hidden oasis beneath the thatched roofs. The gentle strum of a guitar and the trill of a xylophone accent the natural symphony so serenely.

For the first time since we’ve entered Adventureland, we find ourselves in a space of unexpected solitude. A hideaway from the well-worn paths and more notable attractions all around us, this place is palpably more peaceful, hushed beneath the low-lying rooftops and held by the continuous cascade of waterfalls.

Here, we experience the fullness of rest that is synonymous with an island retreat; the feeling of slowing down, breathing more deeply, of being at ease. Here, the scintillating sounds and sweet aromas of the natural world have triumphed over the manufactured, whose contributions only enhance our awareness of being in a moment of quiet, a place of joyful respite. If we were not aware of them at all, we might not appreciate this space for what it is: engaging, rejuvenating…Magical.

(12:20) And suddenly, the true enchantment of the temple is manifested as the spirits of the tropics and goddesses of the elements come to life with chanting and lively rhythms, stirring us from our peaceful reverie. As the rest of the slowly forming crowd is beckoned into the Sunshine Pavilion for their tropical serenade, we bid farewell to the tiki room in pursuit of something a little more devil-may-care, if you will.

(13:15) The swashbuckling, swarthy pirates of the Caribbean beckon to our spirit of fun and daring with a mighty and resounding “Yo-Ho,” and so we venture onward to the fiddle strings and finagling of Caribbean Plaza. Here, the change of tone is audible - lithe and exciting and full of the promise of adventure.

(14:25) In Adventureland, we can reconnect with the more imaginative side of ourselves, abandoning our realities in favor of something that makes us feel held and at home.

These stories, these spaces…they make our lives feel richer and more resonant. They bring us joy in seasons of uncertainty. They fill us with a sense of peace that helps to see us across the stormy waters and safely back to shore.

(17:50) And although the longings of smarmy pirates could not be further from our own, there is a connection that we find when we are Here, when we listen without visual context…when our imaginations have to fill in the gaps for us. That is when we are truly set free.

(20:11) Come along into the caverns of the Caribbean, where hidden treasure is guarded by legend and lore and dead men tell no tales. Listen to the crash of the sea and the shouts of the scurvy swashbucklers themselves. Listen for those quintessential shouts of “Don’t tell him Carlos, don’t be cheeeecken!” and “We wants the rum!” and keep your mind’s eye peeled for Captain Jack Sparrow himself.

Be transported by the sights and scents, music and madness of this centuries-lost Caribbean village. Sing along with the melody of “A Pirate’s Life for Me,” or toss in a couple harmonies, if you’re feeling adventurous. In the quest for what you seek, you may find a treasure far richer than gold. So chart a course into the unknown, and let your imagination set sail.

(22:20) Above deck and back out into the sunshine, we bid a fond farewell to our favorite pirates and set off into another tale entirely. Always one jump ahead of the breadline and one swing ahead of the sword, Aladdin would certainly give those pirates a run for their money.

(24:22) In this Agrabanian marketplace, a disturbance of jewels are scattered across the hard clay earth, no doubt the mischievous doing of that precocious little scallywag, Abu. All around, allusions to the mysterious story of our favorite street rat and his Arabian princess are on display in the marketplace.

From Magic lamps on spindly tables to tajines and ornate tapestries, this place is a treasure trove if ever there was one, a cave of wonders for us to delight in and enjoy. Flying carpets soar above the bustling marketplace, off to a whole new world with undoubtedly fantastic points of view.

(25:44) But we know a secret that they do not. We know a place with a view unmatched by any that Genie’s Magic carpets could offer…and it’s right Here, in Adventureland.

(26:14) The jaunty lilt of polka music and the gentle rush of waterfall draw us up, up, up…into the treetop residence of a certain Swiss family by the surname “Robinson,” who seem to have harnessed all their creative ingenuity into building this incredible oasis in the heart of the tropical wilderness.

Complete with pulleys and outlooks, living and dining areas, and a working waterwheel, this treehouse is the most elaborate of any storybook or backyard, making it the perfect hideaway in the sky. As the tallest structure in all of Adventureland, our vista from the uppermost outlook is overarching - an umbrella which holds in the sunshine, rather than blocking out the rain.

(28:12) Whether you climb up Here to indulge in some truly breathtaking views of the Magic Kingdom, or just to find a moment of respite from the revelry, this is one of the most serene spaces in all of Walt Disney World, and we invite you to be Here With us for a moment of pause and peaceful reflection.

Maybe it’s golden hour in your mind’s eye, and the sun is dipping lower into the horizon, casting a warm, gilded light over everything. Maybe it is nighttime, and the stars so invisible from the marketplace below come alive from this highest height, where nothing but the melodic churn of the water wheel in time with the music infringe on the absolute stillness. Are there fireworks bursting into the inky sky in the distance? Why not!

(30:00) Whatever time of day you picture yourself Here, give yourself fully to it. Craft every detail in your imagination; the scent on the air, the coolness of the breeze, the people passing by below. Every sharpened nuance and singular sound brings us Here more vividly than perhaps when we have actually stood in this space, because right Here and now, this moment is yours. Yours to design, yours to discover, yours to make perfect.

Fill it with joy or quiet reflection, elation or serene solitude. Let it be what you need, an adventure or a departure. That is what being Here With the Magic is - being present in a space through the lens of your imagination.

However you wonder, let your mind wander. You cannot get lost Here. This is an adventure that could only ever lead you home.

The timeless enchantment of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is evident from the moment we set foot into the marble atrium and are held spellbound by the exquisite view. A celebration of the turn-of-the-century affluence that brought wealthy aristocrats to these beautiful oceanside retreats, this resort offers all the comforts of a time when people of means took their rest and relaxation very seriously. Palatial and jaw-dropping, its namesake is undeniably fitting. This experience promises to be a truly unforgettable one.

Here, the gentility of the Victorian era is preserved in a lavishly appointed time capsule, and we are invited to step right into the middle of the Magic.

Towering white columns uphold a cathedral ceiling and skylights to rival those of the most ornate cathedrals. Sunlight peers in through every orifice, bathing the vast, open space in the warm sunshine that is so quintessentially Floridian.

Every corner exudes Victorian elegance and charm, from the aviary elevator to the luxurious boutiques. Pastel tones and florals upholster every sofa and chaise lounge strewn across the lobby, welcoming us to be at our ease and leave our worries in some other century entirely.

Even the music is a notable departure from the modern day - a beguiling arrangement of ragtime classics and Disney favorites to enchant every ear. Soaring up to the ceiling and echoing all around, this music is the final, most enchanting touch that transports us away from the noise and chaos of the modern day and onto the pages of a fairytale.

At any moment, we might expect to see Cinderella herself descending from the Grand staircase, Prince Charming waiting below with his arm outstretched to escort her to the royal ball. We might watch, utterly entranced, as he leads her out into the middle of the floor, her glass slippers gliding and glinting in the sunlight as he leads her in a graceful waltz.

That feeling of glowing anticipation is in the very spirit of this place - that notion that truly anything is possible and that life should undoubtedly be made up of more moments like these. But like Cinderella, they may be waiting for us where we least expect them, in the ordinary spaces of our everyday lives, waiting to transform them into something truly extraordinary.

Today, we are indeed the guests of honor, not at a royal ball, but at a very special performance by the gone-but-not-forgotten Grand Floridian Society Orchestra. An intrinsic part of the Grand Floridian story since the flagship resort first welcomed guests over three decades ago, the six-piece band performed each evening to the delight of all ages. Their jazzy, romantic tunes brought joy to the hearts of so many, and still resound Here and now in the memories of those who were touched by their gift of song.

So tap your feet, get up and dance, sing along to your favorite refrain. Join in the playful revelry of these lazy, hazy, summer days and be Here With the  symphony of Magic floating above and all around us.

As the rapturous sound swells and softens, many of us watch our memories of this place play before us, our recollections of people and seasons long gone brought back to life by their gift. Then, as the last brass instrument is nestled into its velveteen resting place and the last orchestra member takes their final bow, our attention is called toward the heart of the space.

Here, a pianist in an elegant coat and tails takes his place of prominence beneath the gilded chandelier. His hands lightly brush the ivories, and we’re off once again…off to Neverland, off to happy places both near and far, off to swing on the moonbeams of our imaginations.

Let your mind wander away from your worries. Let it be swept up on each note and carried away on tender melodies. Come back to a time you’ve never known, but that somewhere, Here in this place, seems so familiar that it feels like coming home.

Here With the Magic has always been an endeavor of capturing lightning in a bottle. We safeguard these ephemeral moments in time from the inevitable winds of change so that we might all be able to share in them together; anytime, anywhere.

Remembering the Magic is what keeps it alive, and experiencing it as one is what gives it the power to uplift us and bring us true and lasting joy. We know we can always find it, that it will always be Here. Even when the last song fades into nothingness, the intonations still ring hopefully in our ears, that we might recall them in the days and years to come. If the grandeur and elegance of a hundred years ago can be found Here, as lovely as ever, then the Magic of song will surely carry it onward, upward, into the rafters and the most treasured spaces of our hearts.

Though you cannot see it, there is a palpable, tangible sort of feeling that distinguishes a cool, gray morning from a warm and sunny one. Here on the shores of Crescent Lake, we confront a scene we might not be accustomed to - the clouds are low and the generally eminent sun is barely visible behind them.

The breeze exhaling off the lake carries a chill that feels foreign and strange in this characteristically balmy atmosphere. It’s a two-hands-around-the-mug kind of morning, but that might just be what makes it so captivatingly peaceful.

The gentle songbirds (and the more boisterous ones) seem to have taken it on the beak, this melancholy departure from their usual view. No longer competing for attention with a glorious, vibrant sunrise, their song seems to reverberate across Crescent Lake, filling the space like an amphitheater.

The slow and steady ebb and flow of the water is the baseline rhythm to their birdsong harmony. It laps at the rocky shore, through the hollow tunnel beneath the dock, at the boats still tied to the marina.

The same hush and reverence that naturally occurs to us when we enter a church or a museum befalls us Here in this space, where we wouldn’t dream of disrupting such tranquility. It is a gift, a moment of calm before whatever chaos awaits us in the ensuing ones. And although faint patches of blue are beginning to peek through the silken, subdued sky, the serenity of this moment is held for us outside of the inevitable rush of time.

Like a reprieve from some long-carried weight, lifted and cast away out onto the water, we are lifted up and away from the usual swirling of thoughts and worries which occupy our minds in all our conscious living. We are suspended, like the water, in gently repeating ripples of beautiful, impenetrable calm.

The breeze is just chilly enough to be invigorating, and just gentle enough to soothe us like the company of a longtime friend. It’s almost as if, with every liberating gust, it speaks to us words of contentment and ease, measured reassurances that all is well Here.

The Magic of this place, of this moment in time, is both in its ephemerality and in its forever. Even the birds can sense the sunshine burgeoning against the clouds, its inevitable arrival coming ever closer.

Still, we are fabricating a memory so joyful and so efficacious that it promises to stay With us when we move on. This space will remain impervious, no matter the season or time of day; an unplottable fortress where we can find rest and escape and a momentary reprieve from the blinding, abrasive demands of everyday.

Every step along the shore takes us, not closer to some destination, but closer to a sense of wholeness and renewal. Every deep breath, every lilting breeze, every twitter of avian song, every whisper of revival…they are the audacious Magic of this space.

They are what will call us back, time and again, running or strolling or just being Here. Here, where the cool, gray solace of daybreak holds more Magic than we could have ever known.

E-P-C-O-T: Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. A physical manifestation of one of Walt Disney’s last and greatest dreams, EPCOT Center is an ongoing metamorphosis, a dream that will never quite be realized. It is in a state of always becoming, an atmosphere poised and ready to embrace change and celebrate each new discovery. And although it never became quite the living community of Walt’s imagining, this place embodies the very essence of life and all the wonders which surround us.

From the furthest reaches of the cosmos to the deepest fathoms of the ocean, from diverse landscapes and language, music and cuisine, EPCOT is touched by every element of humanity and creation. It does not shy away from the unknown, but forges onward in constant pursuit of the next great story waiting to be told in some new and imaginative way.

The paragon of EPCOT can be identified from the moment you set foot in the entrance plaza. We are immediately placed in the mind’s eye of imaginations who have wandered far into the future. Here, they have fabricated something tangible and nothing short of astonishing from what they found.

The monorail gliding around a massive geodesic sphere instantly calls to mind some liaison to the future, some bridge between yesterday and tomorrow that binds us to the present in a strange and wonderful realm of endless possibility. We catch a glimpse of the utopian musings of Walt’s later years and the life he envisioned for all who would come to work, play, and live in his community of tomorrow.

This space is a synchrony of what was and what could be, nostalgia and innovation, imbued with the spirit of Walt himself.

Even the music speaks with a voice all its own. A fusion of cinematic orchestras and electronic synthesizers echoing all around, its radiant sound soars across the bridge between yesterday and tomorrow, inviting us to be part of this great, unceasing adventure.

Before we embark on the journey that awaits, before we yield to the beckoning of our spirit, spend a moment (or an interlude) in this space. Consider it the prologue of an epic story waiting to be told. We are abuzz with excitement and anticipation, but this joy is unique to this moment, and so let’s savor it Here and now.

Listen to the music rise and fall around you, telling stories without words of what we might uncover in the pages we have yet to peruse. It is familiar and altogether otherworldly at times, brimming with curiosity and hope.

Watch the sunlight glint and gleam off the fractals of the grand and miraculous Spaceship Earth. Feel the magnitude of it erupt within you as you derive joy and childlike wonder, as you feel your imagination coming alive!

Every moment Here is filled with new possibilities, opportunities to discover and rediscover again the fabric of humanity: the delights of our senses, the things which spark our curiosities, the people who paint our world with color and light, story and song.

The Magic that lives Here is sustained by a dream that still resounds in every space, every song, every moment. Though many years have passed, we hold onto the same hope that has sustained EPCOT through the decades: for peace and harmony, community and togetherness, progress and the promise that whatever the future brings, we might celebrate it hand in hand.

Here, the journey to wherever we’re going is far more valuable than where we end up. Here, anything is possible.

EPCOT is a place of becoming, its Magic free of limitations. We find that Magic in this space when we realize one empowering, transformative truth: so are we.

(2:30) Deep in the lush Valley of Mo’ara, night is falling on the manifold planet of Pandora. Shadows are climbing the faces of the majestic floating mountains, while a symphony of crickets and other, less identifiable nocturnal creatures call out into the darkness. The trill of a banshee, the coo of some celestial dove…they are both familiar and unfamiliar, endearing and intriguing.

As darkness settles onto every surface, the entire planet seems to take its cue to come alive, radiance emanating from its very core. Bioluminescent flora and fauna emerge from shadowy hiding places, and threads of blue and green light seep through the surface of the hard earth, like veins connecting every moment to the next, every space of time to something greater, something whole and beautiful.

(7:00) The heartbeat of Pandora pulses in sovereign rhythm into the night, from the base of the floating mountains in this Swotu Wayä, this “sacred place of song.” A connection between the physical and metaphysical, music cannot be bound by tangible restraints. Here, nature’s song is a tranquil ebb and flow that is harmonious and complete, boundless and free.

Beneath the stars and the luminous glow of this spiritual space, we are wrapped in an enclave of Magic and light. Welcome to wander as we please through this otherworldly Eden, we amble through trails of the Mo’ara Valley, where wildlife zigzags and climbs over every rock and bridge.

The echo of creatures settles into a steady cadence Here, pulling us into a trance that calls us deeper and deeper into the realm of their enigma.

(12:45) Then, out of the depths of our lullaby emerges a celestial chorus of voices, a cinematic orchestra that seems to shower from the stars. We have reached the heart of civilization, the gathering place known as Satu’li Canteen.

Once a mess hall to feed the expats from Earth who came to live on Pandora, it represents a gift of friendship and a symbol of camaraderie and respect. Both the indigenous Na’vi and the humans can find their cultures reflected Here, in everything from the art and artifacts displayed throughout to the delicious cuisine.

(15:14) Still, the night beckons, and our appetites are allayed only by our intensifying curiosity. The rush of a waterfall can only mean that we have found ourselves in the wake of the extraordinary floating mountains. Powerful and somehow reassuring, the majesty of these mountains calls to mind the vastness of the world and all of the natural wonders it holds.

Mountains, rivers, lush valleys and endless oceans…our connection to them is as limitless as we desire, their gift to us their presence. In return, we can offer the promise that we will honor and cherish them as the Na’vi people so reverently care for this place they call home.

(16:29) As we pass the Alpha Centauri Expeditions’ Flight of Passage, we hear the almost robotic inner workings of the operation that brings civilians like ourselves to this planet, to be immersed in its story from the back of a banshee. And while an aerial view of Pandora by daylight is enticing for the bravest and boldest, to be engaged in the crux and soul of this space at nighttime is serenity unlike anything we can experience elsewhere.

The delicate hush endures as pathways and bridges reach further into the jungles of Pandora. Our wonder is met by a wave of calm, a sense that the sounds that we hear are friendly, rather than fierce. Somehow, we feel seen by the night, personally covered and protected by its cloak of inky stillness. And as the ethereal bioluminescence is reflected on the faces of those around us, permitting us to see the curious wanderers not so unlike ourselves, we understand.

(18:04) The Na’vi have a phrase that serves as a greeting, but that means so much more: “Oel ngati kameie,” “I see you.” Like those we meet under the floating mountain or beside the giant Flasca Reclonada, it speaks not only to someone’s physical presence, but their spiritual presence as well.

When we see those who come to this place, those who seek the renewal of quiet moments of joy with the zeal and excitement that we do, we recognize something in them that does not need to be spoken in order to be true.

(22:45) We see their soul, their insatiable wanderlust, their desire to find Magic in the everyday. Whether Na’vi or human, tangible being or intangible darkness, Magic has the power to connect us in ways that cannot be held or measured. Like the suspension of twilight just before nightfall, like the pendulum caught mid-swing, we are met with a moment of stillness.

Here, we can truly see and delight in the spaces surrounding us, the people who share in them With us, and the Magic that binds us together.

In Mexico, the most authentic representation of their rich and vibrant culture is found at the table, where generations often reside together or very close by, gathering daily to share meals and stories, laughter and song. Mealtimes are intentional, virtually sacred space set aside for nourishment and conversation, welcoming both new friends and old to gather and feel at peace.

Here, life is celebrated and loss is mourned, triumphs are exalted and failures are met with unwavering solidarity. Here is where the story of their culture prevails and lingers on, an anchor in the stormy sea of time. This is where we get our passport stamped and receive an open invitation to partake in the ancient story of Mexico and her people…Here, at the table.

At EPCOT, the Mexico pavilion stands in true-to-form welcome at the precipice of the entire World Showcase. A towering pyramid nestled in a jungle of lush greenery, it is unmissable and entrancing to all who choose this route to begin their journey. Inside, an eternally twilit mercado echoing with the vibrato of mariachi song and a tapestry of vivid color enthralls our senses all at once.

An aroma of bright citrus, earthy spice, and the unmistakable sweetness of corn wafts through the displays of intricately painted skulls and handmade serapes, calling us toward the hacienda beyond.

Here, a charming, romantic inn set along a mysterious river is a candlelit haven from the more lively atmosphere we left behind. The Rio del Tiempo, or the River of Time, flows with a gentle enigma past the formidable ruins of a Mayan temple, while boats sail serenely along on their Gran Fiesta Tour of this most enchanting place.

From our seat a the water’s edge, we can smell the fresh river as it glides through the ages, and hear the songbirds twitter along with the mariachi music. The hush of voices affects a most tranquil environment, and the subtle clatter of cutlery is surely a testament to the mouthwatering cuisine.

But before we delve into the labor of love that is Mexican cuisine - luscious tamales prepared by hand, a bowl of frijoles that have been stewed and stirred for hours, the shattering crunch of a fresh tortilla chip accompanied by a symphony of flavorful salsas - our desire to savor this moment is overwhelming our growing appetite.

Here, time is not only at a standstill, it has become utterly immaterial. The music, like the twilight, perpetuates in the everglow of flickering candlelight. The hospitality is generous and the spirit is alive with story and song. For all we know, we really have been transported to a bygone waterside hacienda in the heart of Mexico City.

It is not only in our minds, the Magic of this place and all that it embodies. It is Here, alive and all-encompassing. It is Mexico; in story and sensation, spirit and song, reaching out across space and time to take our hand and lead us to this very table, this very moment, where we can truly be Here With the Magic. Siéntate, relax, and let this moment whisk you away along the River of Time. ¡Viva la Mexico!

(2:50) Long before the Avengers set up headquarters on this land at Disney’s California Adventure, it was held by a group of mystical sorcerers known as the Vishanti, who protected the Earth’s entire dimension and whose supernatural power could be transferred to human beings worthy of its possession. A young and ambitious Howard Stark, who was intrigued by the celestial properties of this place, found himself drawn to and inspired by its secrets. He laid the foundation for what is now a place of innovation and creativity, inspiration and, you guessed it, Magic.

When Tony Stark inherited the campus from his father, it became a beacon of hope and opportunity unlike ever before. Renowned and brilliant minds from across every dimension of the universe have come to this place to hone their skills, better their talents, and work toward creating a brighter future for all.

The energy that pulses through this place is undeniable; it sweeps us along on an unforgettable journey. The music, the movement, the otherworldly enigma…it’s all part of the Magic of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here, we find stories which have defined the popular culture of generations, and we are invited to be part of it all.

(9:12) Up ahead, WEB Headquarters is an impressive introduction to Stark’s vision for a Campus of superior minds. The youngest Avenger with the biggest heart and the most to prove, Peter Parker utilizes this space for research and design, an apprenticeship under the watchful eye of his mentor, Iron Man. While his desire to succeed and impress his superhero idols generally outweighs his professional finesse, the atmosphere of being Here where science and Magic converge and history is made is enough to make us forget the world we’ve left behind entirely.

(10:30) Prototypical Spider-Bots run rampant through the WEB open house, where unsuspecting guests are called upon to test the limits of Peter’s latest invention to rid the place of the mutating arachnids. Interfacing with the latest Stark technology, we get to be part of the action and sling webs right along with Spider-Man himself.

Across the way, at Web Suppliers, the most unfazed among us can interact with and even take home a Spider-Bot of our very own, whether as a token of their accomplishment or a sort of sidekick. Their mechanical clicking redirects our attention this way and that, to street vendors demonstrating their abilities and onto the sides of buildings, where they skitter and scuttle for a better view of visitors below.

(13:45) A serene departure from the eight-legged articulation of WEB, a tinkling of strange and ethereal instruments calls us into The Ancient Sanctum of the judicious Doctor Strange. Here, we become cognizant of entering hallowed ground, where immortal ruins liberated from beneath their spells of concealment reveal the presence of Magic in this place.

Flowing with an intriguing, pulsating force, the secrets of the mystic arts breathe with the power of the multiverse in this space, echoing with enchantment and a stillness that transcends this world. At nightfall, we are engulfed in a vibrant, violet glow that settles over the temple, bringing it to life in a whole new way.

Hidden for centuries in the hills of Los Angeles, The Ancient Sanctum is unveiled for all who desire to find knowledge and enlightenment. It is a transformational space, a sort of phenomenon of tranquility in the midst of so much action and excitement. It all melts away in the glow of the lantern light. Whatever realm of the multiverse we have entered, there is a paradoxical, grounding sense of presence and peace found Here.

(18:46) At the heart of Avengers Campus stands the unmistakable, formidable Avengers Headquarters. A shining, slanted “A” leaves no room for misinterpretation: this is where Earth’s mightiest heroes gather to train and demonstrate their abilities. The Avengers are almost certainly in residence; the gleaming Quinjet on the roof poised and ready for anything at a moment’s notice.

Black Widow might be seen scanning the surroundings for oncoming threats from her black Jeep on the South side of Headquarters, and we might even catch Captain America himself on the lookout from several stories up. Captain Marvel, Thor, Ant-Man, Black Panther and so many other iconic members of this elite team can be spotted throughout the day and into the evening, greeting new recruits and standing ready, as ever, for whatever might come.

(19:40) Eyes diverted upward on all sides are wide with awe, the quintessential Avengers theme rumbling in our ears. Converging on the line between fantasy and reality, we are transported to some alternate dimension from the one we inhabit. We are standing in tangible awareness that our childhood daydreams are Here, surrounding us, no longer fabrications of our imaginations. We are overwhelmed by a sense of joy that we so often forget in adulthood. It is larger than life, bigger than us, and it was waiting for us all the time.

This place could not be described as anything but awesome.

(21:35) Speaking of larger than life: as the Avengers campus grew to accommodate more and more universal superpowers, it became apparent to two individuals that they would need to find an efficient way to feed everyone. Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne, otherwise known as Ant-Man and The Wasp, came up with the clever concept of PYM’s Test Kitchen to meet that need.

Here, we find curiously altered comfort foods which have been grown or shrunk by PYM particles to suit each Avenger’s appetite. Craving a pretzel the size of Cap’s shield? A quantum tunnel will size that up for sharing with our whole crew. How about a Not-So-Little chicken sandwich? The mechanics and science at work in this place even have our experimental concoctions served up on lab paper so we can be part of the project.

(24:50) And even though the aroma of freshly baked bread and Impossibly large meatballs is hard to resist, the sound of a friendly, neighborhood voice in the distance brings us back to WEB Headquarters to see what other surprises might be in store. Could it be the web-slinger himself, Spider-Man?

(25:18) Indeed, it is! High atop the WEB Headquarters lab, Peter Parker is demonstrating the capabilities of his latest suit prototype for a crowd of admirers. His youthful energy and excitement are infectious, and watching him test his limits is a reminder to all of us that the greatest heroes can come from anywhere, even a tiny apartment in Queens.

(27:24) Maybe not all of us dream of being superheroes. Maybe some of us feel heroic when we make it through the day. But if this ragtag bunch of Avengers can teach us anything, it’s that gumption and grit will get you farther than whatever advantages you might perceive are the right ones to have. It doesn’t matter what your everyday looks like, whether your commute is on a train from Queens to Manhattan or the Bifröst from Asgard, what matters is that you look for possibilities wherever you can.

When he finally picked up his pen to tell the story of his own life, Stan Lee said this of the incredible universe he created:

“Marvel is a cornucopia of fantasy, a wild idea, a swashbuckling attitude, an escape from the humdrum and the prosaic. It's a serendipitous feast for the mind, the eye, the imagination, a literate celebration of unbridled creativity, coupled with a touch of rebellion and an insolent desire to spit in the eye of the dragon.”

That touch of rebellion, that defiance in the wake of all that reality impresses upon our consciousness…that is where time and age cease to have any power over us. That is where our youthful hope remains intact; our desire to celebrate moments big and small. That is the space where inspiration comes to us, where ideas are born. A protective shield and a talisman for the imagination, Here is where Magic assembles right before our eyes, a squadron of defiant dreamers. Be one of them. Be Here With the Magic.

(1:57) They say there’s no place like home for the holidays, with all those familiar sights and sounds of the season bringing comfort and joy to parlay whatever we’ve confronted over the course of the last eleven months. We can rely on the same homes in our neighborhoods to put up dazzling light displays year after year, the same bakeries and coffee shops to send aromas of molten chocolate and sugary, buttery temptation wafting into the streets like frost dissipating into the morning mist. Bursts of serotonin sound like jingle bells and the clip-clop of horse-drawn carriages, Bing Crosby’s dulcet tones and the silence (yes, the silence) of a gentle midnight snowfall.

Here at the Magic Kingdom, coming home for the holidays might look a little different than the Christmastimes of our childhood memories. As we enter the tunnel beneath the glossy and grand Walt Disney World Railroad Station, it becomes apparent to us at once that the elves who transformed this space into a holiday wonderland spared no detail or extravagance. All around us, every lamppost and railing, window and doorway are wrapped in elegance. Evergreen garlands and velveteen bows, golden accents and glimmering lights surround a Christmas tree of mesmerizing grandeur. All at once, we are transported into a fairytale of such imagination that it calls to mind the divertissements of the great Tchaikovsky.

(3:36) Into the pines we go, to the land of the sweets, perhaps, or to the turn-of-the-century charm of Main Street, U.S.A. Either way, the caramel and cocoa wafting toward us from the nearby Confectionary inspire visions of sugar plums, and the sight of Cinderella Castle in the distance is the convergence of fantasy and reality that could only flow so seamlessly within the realms of a Disney park.

(5:17) Beneath the popcorn strands and flickering candles of the Town Square Christmas tree, there are park benches scattered about, calling to those of us who have spent much of the season in frenetic preparations and planning. Have a seat, won’t you, and listen to a symphony of classic holiday carols surround you in comfort and joy.

Imagine yourself Here, watching the Kingdom in its holiday revelry, the windows of the Emporium a panorama of warmth and cheer to reflect the faces of shoppers and diners, families and friends. It may not be the park bench in your own village park, your favorite seat on the front porch or that squashy armchair by the fire, but there is no doubt that something about this place feels like home. Maybe it’s the smiles and laughter all around us, the resilience of the human spirit shining brightly in the warm glow of Christmas lights. Maybe it’s the sights and sounds that live in our memories and play our for us Here, like a film we’ll gladly watch over and over again.

(7:03) Or maybe it’s something less tangible, less obvious. Maybe the Magic of the holidays is the very Magic that first brought this storybook Kingdom to life, and that which continues to inspire our journey and our zeal for discovering moments of joy in every corner of the world. Maybe the reason we feel at home in places so far removed from our routines because they remind us of something deeper, something intrinsic that cannot be replaced or forgotten. Here in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, we find an escape, a respite, a glimmer of hope in the midst of our circumstances…a moment of joy in the wake of our chaos.

Let’s be Here, then, in the luminescent embrace of the Christmas tree, on this quaint little park bench. Feel the Magic of the season surround you and fill you, welcoming you home for the holidays.

(9:00) Throughout our insatiable quest to find quiet moments of joy in wide and wonderful world we live in, we’ve found that Magic is especially persistent at this time of year. It twinkles and dances and glows on the faces and facades we encounter all season long, and these glimpses of enchantment are what bring the holidays to life. Wherever we are, when we stumble upon those moments - when we feel joy and peace and renewed hope in our hearts, where we hear laughter billowing like radiant song - we have found home.

So wherever this year has taken you, whether near or far from the places you know and the people you love best, you can always come home for the holidays. Even in the most unlikely places, even amongst families and children from all over the world, you can feel the cozy familiarity of a yuletide fireside.

As it turns out, we don’t need a living room out a Norman Rockwell painting, a Feast of the Seven Fishes, or even a White Christmas to experience the joy of the season. Its spirit lives within us, a lighthouse reaching into the depths of dark winter’s night, like a friend who never truly parts from our company. Always there, always waiting, always Here to bring us home for the holidays.

Experience the Magic of the season whenever your heart is longing for home. We’re always Here, waiting, a lighthouse to help you find your way to a quiet moment of stillness and lasting joy. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, one and all.

(3:46) Over the course of the last century, Christmas has become less of a religiously associated holiday in the Western part of the world, adopting icons and traditions beloved by people of all faith affiliations and cultural backgrounds. Though the season is still predominantly rooted in Christian tradition, with songs regaling the birth of a savior and families gathering to worship together, the burgeoning popularity of Santa Claus in the early nineteenth century welcomed the secular world to experience the joy of Christmas for themselves.

Today, families all over the world come together around the time of the Winter Solstice to exchange gifts, enjoy lavishly appointed feasts, and spend quality time with one another. Especially in Europe and in North America, the most popular and universally recognizable Christmas custom involves a benevolent gift-giver who comes to leave presents for children as they sleep on Christmas Eve. Known by different names around the world, this jolly and joyous champion of generosity is descended from the person of St. Nicholas, who was a historical figure in Asia Minor during the reign of the Roman Empire.

The story of St. Nicholas is shrouded in mystery and riddled with legend, the most widely accepted of which recounts an occasion where Nicholas dropped bags of coins through the open window of a poor man while he slept, in order to save his three daughters from ruin. Whatever the true circumstances of his altruism, St. Nicholas was a very real person who inspired the inauguration of Santa Claus and his various namesakes centuries later.

St. Nicholas’ feast day is celebrated during the Christian season of Advent, just a few weeks before Christmas. Children leave their shoes out for St. Nicholas, just as they hang stockings on the mantel for Santa on Christmas Eve. In the morning, they find small trinkets and chocolate coins (known as “gelt” to Jewish children during Hanukkah) to commemorate that parable of selflessness which bestowed on him a reputation which the figure of Santa Claus carries on today.

That is where our journey re-commences today, far from the Mediterranean shores that we departed when last we made merry at the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Halfway around World Showcase Lagoon, the stately elegance of the American Adventure pavilion scores our welcome with elegant piano music that trails away like snowflakes falling slowly to Earth.

(5:14) Christmas decorations in patriotic red, white, and blue are hung along the stone fountain and around the white columns of the colonial theater. A corresponding Christmas tree stands next to the holiday kitchen, where the comforting aroma of a Thanksgiving reprise draws us in - turkey and cranberry sauce and all the classic trimmings.

Just beyond is the heart of all the action, the one and only Santa Claus, seated on a velvet throne and surrounded by children vying for his attention and listening ears. Like something out of a classic Christmas storybook or a Norman Rockwell painting, Santa’s interactions with each girl and boy are enough to grow the Grinchiest heart at least three sizes.

(6:00) Listen closely - do you hear Santa speaking to a shy little princess and her precocious older brother? This is the Magic of the season revealed to us right Here and now in the innocence of youth. It is their belief, wholesome and unwavering, that reminds us that joy is found when we permit ourselves to experience life and this Magical season through the eyes of a child, through their audacious hope and limitless dreams.

As we watch from afar, this perfectly serendipitous moment becomes a memory, an inspiration that will open our minds and hearts to all that we are about to see and discover. And it is with that renewal of spirit and spring in our step that we continue on, far across the sea to the Middle East of the year 164 B.C.

(7:38) Along the stone dwellings and torchlit streets of Jerusalem, the recently liberated Maccabees sought to give thanks to the goodness of God for delivering them from their oppressors. They entered their sacred temple and discovered that they only had enough oil to last one night of their vigil. By some miracle, their oil lasted for eight nights, until someone was able to return and replenish their supply. They praised God for his faithfulness and protection over their people, and so the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah, was born.

Today, Hanukkah is celebrated in Jewish homes and temples all over the world. For eight nights, families gather in remembrance and jubilation, reaching across the generations to connect with their ancestors who endured so much in the name of freedom. Gifts are exchanged and wooden dreidels are spun for prizes and tokens of prosperity. Slowly braised and tender Brisket is the centerpiece of their feast, surrounded by crispy potato latkes fried in oil to commemorate the eight nights of miraculous light so long ago. For dessert, sweet, jam-filled donuts called sufganiyot are sure to satisfy the sugar cravings of the whole mishpacha. Traditional songs are sung and friends and neighbors greet each other with a heartfelt “Shalom,” a blessing of peace to all who seek to experience the Magic of this season of light.

(8:50) In anticipation of our excursion across the seas to our next holiday celebration, let’s pause Here for a moment and listen to the story of Hanukkah, as it is told by someone who holds its spiritual significance and whimsical wonder very close to his heart.

(18:27) There is arguably no continent more redolent with holiday enchantment than the whole of Europe. Its storybook settings, complete with rich history, spellbinding castles and breathtaking architecture make it the backdrop of many a Christmas fantasy. In France, the holidays are a time of abundance and magnanimity. French families spare no expense in their preparations, indulging where they have lived more frugally in the months leading up to the season.

Our journey through the holidays around the world wouldn’t be complete without a digression Here, where the elegance of France is augmented by glittering stars and swirling garlands. The smells of peppermint and sweet pâtisserie permeate the air, enticing our appetites into luxurious indulgence. Flourishing poinsettias offset the Parisian color palette with pops of cheery crimson. Miniature Christmas scenes depict the Tour de Eiffel and the Arc de Triomphe, with a third ornamental display dedicated to the beloved French holiday tradition: the Bûche de Noël.

Known to the English-speaking world as a Yule log, this decadent cake is rolled and filled to emulate the trunk of a tree, and decorated with marzipan mushrooms and leaves. The Yule log imbibes the Christmas wishes of those who partake in its creation, their selfless act of sharing an assurance that they will indeed come true.

(20:21) Of course, our Joyeux Noël would not be complete without a visit from the legendary person whose namesake the holiday holds. He is a symbol of hope and gratitude, anticipation and childlike delight to all French people, young and old. As we hear the unmistakable crescendo of Christmas bells, let us take a moment in this beautiful pavilion to be regaled by a heartwarming tale from the sweet and beguiling Père Noël.

His account of the Christmas Eve traditions beloved by families throughout all of France comes in the form of a letter from his little friend Babette, who lives in the scenic countryside of Provence. Babette writes to Père Noël to share her love for the whole Christmas season and most especially, Le Réveillon de Noël, the Christmas Eve festivities that French families spare no expense in making the grandest event of the year.

They enjoy sumptuous feasts of roast goose, fromage, and savory pâté, escargot and succulent oysters. For dessert, the pièce de résistance: a classic Bûche de Noël. The feast is followed by joyous caroling and endless merriment. Many families dress in their holiday best and attend Midnight Mass together, returning home to place le Petit-Jésus in their own crèche, or Nativity scene, which in France is broadened to include figurines of local merchants and townspeople.

Then, when all is quiet and everyone is asleep, Père Noël leaves a special present in the shoes that children leave expectantly by the extinguished embers of their fireplaces.

On Christmas morning, squeals of delight at the sight of gifts and sweets tumbling from mismatched shoes call to mind a concept that we tend to lose sight of as age and experience breed skepticism and doubt. The faith of a child in that which they cannot see is a remarkable and fearless thing.

Maybe, just maybe, that is where their joy comes from, that unassailable light that radiates from their souls and gives them their incredible courage. That is the Magic of youth, of Christmas, of believing in something bigger and more beautiful than what we can easily see.

(31:07) Though it is hard to imagine a more uplifting holiday story than that of Père Noël, we are once again cajoled by a refrain of jingle bells, and so we make our way over the bridge and onto the charming cobblestone streets of jolly old England.

Here, a Happy Christmas is already well underway. Every corner and doorway in the village square has been strung with lights and garland, multi-colored baubles and quintessential Christmas crackers. Their pops and bangs won’t be heard until Christmas Eve, but there are enough roars of laughter and yuletide festivities emanating from the local pub to last until then, anyway.

(31:40) A jovial bell-ringer belts out a traditional Welsh carol to all the watching villagers, calling to us with a reverberating “Hear ye, hear ye!” We gather in eager curiosity around the Christmas tree, where Father Christmas himself entertains us with stories and song and his brazen, conspicuous laugh, brimming with that cozy feeling that warms even the coldest winter nights up and down the country.

It turns out, according to the well-traveled Father Christmas, that many of the most well-known and beloved holiday traditions the world over actually originated in the United Kingdom. As in many American homes, British families hang their stockings by the fireplace on Christmas Eve and exchange gifts with one another on Christmas morning. Many timeless Christmas stories, such as Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, were written and set in the heart of England during the largely romanticized Victorian era. Even the custom of hanging mistletoe is passed down from the earliest inhabitants of modern-day England and Ireland.

Father Christmas is full of the wisdom of the ages, of tales from his travels and holiday cheer in spades. His laughter is infectious, his demeanor gregarious and warm. As his story comes to an end and he wishes us well on our way, he shares one last yuletide carol to carry us merrily on to the finale of our journey through the holidays, the culmination of all the joy and hope we have found Here as we’ve traveled near and far.

(40:56) The Candlelight Processional has been a beloved tradition at Disney Parks since the first one took place at Disneyland in December 1958. Since then, it has brought guests of all ages, races, religions, and nations together to hear the biblical story of Christmas told with such passion and humanity that it is sure to resonate with each one of us, whether we celebrate Christmas or not.

A full orchestra led by a renowned conductor accompany a choir assembled from within the Disney cast member family. They come together to fill the air with joyful noise, welcoming us into this theater under the stars with an array of sprightly, seasonal favorites. Then, as the story begins and we are transported to back thousands of years to the village of Bethlehem, the music betrays a paradigm shift. It moves from winter whimsy to a sort of ardent yearning as we follow shepherds and wise men on their earnest pursuit of a revelatory star, and of the baby sleeping peacefully beneath its heavenly glow.

A triumphant symphony bursts suddenly into the prophetic stillness of the night. With trumpet sounds and cymbal crashes and a chorus of ethereal beauty, it announces the arrival of a promise finally fulfilled; of hope for generations and peace to all people, near and far.

Magic and humanity have a unique way of converging this time of year, arousing compassion and curiosity in those otherwise content to carry on existing in their own spaces and routines, their own self-imposed confines. May we give ourselves over to that feeling today, as we find ourselves Here in this storybook of global unity and yuletide cheer. May we find joy everywhere we look, peace in the presence of chaos or calm, and Magic glowing brightly in our hearts and homes.

From our Here With the Magic family to you and yours, we wish you a joyous and memorable holiday season and a bright and bountiful new year.

(4:17) For centuries, the Winter Solstice has marked the emergence of religious and cultural celebrations all around the world. For millennia, it has been a time of reverence for and connection with nature, a moment to align ourselves with the natural world, the seasons, and the spiritual connotations of the Earth.

It has also served as a period of acknowledgement and gathering across diverse cultures and belief systems that exist in different parts of the world. As yet another calendar page reaches its end, we find ourselves once again in the imminence of the Winter Solstice, the holiday season, and all of the joy and anticipation it brings. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, the New Year or the age-old festival of the Winter Solstice, whether you participate in religious traditions or not, the act of gathering together with friends and loved ones to share a joyful, sensory experience is a recurring theme found the world over, in holidays both old and new.

Here at EPCOT, the Festival of the Holidays promises that same feeling of joy in each of the eleven represented nations. Though each has its own unique culture and customs, a sense of familiarity propagates throughout every narrative. Weaving in and out of each story like the sweet aroma of holiday treats, the infectious, abundant merriment found Here could only inspire curiosity and an appetite for discovery.

(6:00) Our yuletide celebration begins at the forecourt of the World Showcase, where an unseen orchestra welcomes us with a symphony of classic holiday carols. Encircling the vast Lagoon is a collection of the most renowned destinations, their talismans and notable landmarks towering high over the heads of awestruck travelers. Each have gathered for this International Festival of the Holidays, to share their cherished traditions and divulge the legends that have been passed down through the generations. With so many enchanting stories to step into, this crossroads begs the question: where to begin? Clockwise, of course!

(7:12) The vibrant tapestry of color and music emanating from our left draws us into the heart of a joyous celebration in Mexico - ¡Feliz Navidad! All around us, the vibrato of mariachi song mingles with vivid hues of fuchsia and yellow to join the traditional red and green. Poinsettia flowers thrive in the warm, sun-bathed climate, and the intoxicating aroma of arepas, tamales, horchata and jalapeño engage our senses and hold us captive in their assertion.

The Mayan pyramid which stands sentinel at the heart of the pavilion carries on the Navidad festivities with vivacious decor to echo the mood redolent throughout the pavilion. Inside the eternally twilit Mercado, we find a host of holiday merrymakers shopping and dining by the waterside canal, taking leisurely boat rides or sampling the nation’s finest tequila.

(9:00) This pavilion is alive with laughter and memories in the making, and we get to catch a glimpse of what it might be like to celebrate the season in Oaxaca or Mexico City, wandering the open air markets and listening to the animated excitement of the locals as they share their plans for the holiday with one another.

(11:33) Back outside in the real-time sunshine, the talented vocalists and violinists of Mariachi Cobre regale us with beautiful holiday songs. Their jubilant geniality and heartwarming song lifts our spirits as their music soars and lilts around us. Dancers join the mariachi to tell the tale of Las Posadas.

(12:34) Las Posadas is a ritual reenactment of a very select part of the Christmas story, wherein Mary and Joseph, imminently anticipating the birth of their son, earnestly seek lodging in Joseph’s hometown of Bethlehem. As they are turned away again and again, their hope wavers even in the light of their great mission for God, until one kind soul offers the safety and warmth of a stable and a bed of sweet-smelling hay.

Let’s pause in this place for a moment to hear this beloved story, preserved through the ages and upheld by a melody to revive even the most enervated soul. Clap along and dance for joy; in Mexico, every day is a fiesta!

(21:05) From ¡Feliz Navidad! to Good Yul! we make our way past the Royal Summerhus and onto the fjords of Scandinavia, bidding the last reverberating notes of Mariachi Cobre a fond farewell. Here, we find festive touches bundled up in fair isle sweaters and plenty of yuletide cheer to keep us warm on a long winter’s night.

Beloved for its picturesque winter scenes and mysterious legends of Norse gods and Vikings, Norway has a cozy, whimsical feel around the holidays. Sweeping fjords bordered by tiny kingdoms and towering stave churches lend an air of storybook Magic to this enigmatic part of the world. Frosted and gilded with glimmering icicles, Norway is a winter wonderland at the approach of the Solstice, with long, starry nights offering breathtaking views of the majestic Aurora Borealis. Here, St. Lucia’s Day inspires a Festival of Lights to honor the Winter Solstice. Fires are lit to enliven the night and ward off sinister spirits, and young girls wear wreaths of candles on their heads to pay homage to St. Lucia’s martyrdom for her faith.

Here in this quaint Norwegian village, we find no shortage of festive decorations and inviting aromas. The Kringle Bakeri is warm and inviting, laden with sweetly spiced lefse, ornate kransekake, and skolebrød sprinkled with snowy coconut. Who could resist stopping in for a spell, to escape the cold and share a moment of sugary joy. Shops adorned in wreaths and holly are full of holiday bustle, while in the square outside, travelers gather to hear the story of a beloved holiday figure as he is known and loved by Norwegians.

(21:40) Julenissen is the cunning and clever barn “Santa” who brings Christmas presents to children. In Scandinavian tradition, a nisse is a silly, temperamental spirit tasked with caring for and ensuring the prosperity of the family he watches over. In the mid-nineteenth century, Julenissen became the spirited and generous gift-bearer to not just Norwegians, but many Scandinavians. He embodies the jolly nature of our more well-known Santa Claus, with all the mystique and lore of a guardian spirit, though his love of porridge and hiding in hayloft is a bit of a departure from cookies and milk by the fireside. His antics delight visitors of all ages as he spontaneously appears while a local woman, Sigrid, retells the timeless story of Julenissen and his integral part in the Norwegian holiday season. Let your heart be light as you listen to the tale of this jovial holiday legend.

(34:55) With the ringing of the Yule bell, our Christmas celebration in Norway comes to an end. A new year is just around the corner, and so we are invited to step into a very different narrative, one which dates back to ancient times and is highly revered by the people of China and their rich, enduring culture.

(35:45:) Chinese New Year is a time of hope and reflection, of gratitude and resilient optimism. Also known as Lunar New Year, this ritual dates back over three thousand years to the Shang Dynasty, when it was observed as a winter festival to honor the gods and ancestors. In an effort to thwart the vicious agenda of the beast, Nian, people wore red clothes, burned bamboo, and made commotion to scare him away. Today, the celebration continues as a more entertaining endeavor. Chinese families gather to exchange gifts wrapped in red paper, set off firecrackers and fireworks, and stay up late enjoying delicious, “lucky” food at a reunion dinner.

(37:00) One of the most recognizable Chinese New Year traditions is the incredible Lion Dance, which is either watched or performed by Chinese citizens and in Chinese communities across the globe. In China, the Lion symbolizes good luck and prosperity, strength of body and mind. With the new year at hand, the Lion Dance is performed to chase away evil spirits and bring good fortune to all in the months ahead.

Vibrant and astonishing to behold, this custom is unlike anything we experience in the Western world. While it evokes the same festive, whimsical persona as parade floats might do Here at Walt Disney World, the spiritual resonance and cultural significance of this tradition leave us awestruck at the millennia of history and heritage speaking through this majestic creature and the magnificent ceremony at hand. Let’s pause, once again, before we travel back to Christmastime. Be Here With the Magic of this ancestral story and its sounds still echoing through the ages.

(44:50) Across the bridge from China, a lively, percussive interlude meets our ears in the African Outpost. A space often overlooked by travelers on their way to the pavilion beyond, the Outpost has some of the most beautiful views of World Showcase Lagoon.

A marketplace mottled with the crafts and creations of traveling artisans, the vibrant rhythm and fascinating array of trinkets make this the perfect place to find a stocking stuffer or Hanukkah present as we pass through on our way to the next holiday story. Move to the beat and feel the gentle breeze drifting across the lagoon as you stroll along with us to the Bavarian village adorned in Christmas charm.

(46:20) Germany is the country wherein many of our most beloved holiday traditions find their origin. The first Christmas trees were decorated and displayed in German homes in the seventeenth century, laden with roses and apples, candies and other sweet delights. Hand-carved wooden nutcrackers said to protect families from danger were given as tokens of good luck, and still today are such an iconic symbol of the season. Christmas angels are found in nearly every German home, passed down through the generations as symbols of those talismans of Christmastime: hope, love, peace, joy, and togetherness.

During the month of December, Christmas markets pop up in cities and towns all over the world, seeking to emulate the look and feel of the original Weihnachtsmarkt in Germany. Stalls huddled together beneath majestic pine trees are hung with holly and ribbons and draped in sparkling lights and, if you’re lucky, a fresh blanket of snow. The cozy feel and evident yuletide cheer mingles with the inviting aroma of warm gingerbread and roasted chestnuts, like a Christmas scene right out of a Hallmark card or a Dickens novel. Friends and family meet to enjoy a glass of mulled wine or a sizzling bratwurst, exchange season’s greetings, or browse the selection of handmade ornaments and decorations from local crafters.

Here at EPCOT, a quaint Bavarian town has been transformed into an exquisite storybook village alight with holiday Magic. Red and gold baubles gleam from their garlands and wreaths adorning every shop and lampost, in every corner of this charming Alpine alcove. The smell of sweet caramel and savory schnitzel rises on the melody of a Christmas polka, inviting our senses to decide whether or not to assuage or deny our sweet tooth.

Shouts of “Prost!” and the clinking of steins signify an exuberant celebration, as visitors share stories and laughter by the fountain in the center of the square, inside the Weinkeller, and in between bites of strudel. Children crane their necks to watch in awe the confectioners and glass blowers at work on their beautiful (and often delicious) creations.

A chink of warm light spills into the square from the Die Weihnachte Ecke, the Christmas Corner where German Christmas decorations and centuries-old traditions are displayed and sold year-round. Find a blown glass Christmas pickle to hide in your tree on Christmas Eve, an Advent calendar to count down the days with your family, or an ornately hand-crafted Nutcracker to stand sentinel on your mantel, waiting for Der Weihnachtsmann - Santa Claus!

Encumbered by gifts and treats and a pretzel the size of wagon wheel, it is time to wish a Frohe Weihnachten (Merry Christmas) to Germany, the Weihnachtsmarkt, and all the Magic of the season in this European Christmas fairytale come to life. As we bid Auf Wiedersehen to the merry tunes, luscious sweets, and joyful memories we’ve made Here, we can hear the accordion music shift and crescendo as we continue our whirlwind holiday tour in…Italy!

(50:40) Residing in Southern Europe and bordered by the Mediterranean, Italy’s diverse landscapes, ornate architecture, and largely Roman Catholic population make it an international destination during the holiday season. From the snow-capped Alps in Northern Italy to the romantic canals of Venice and the sovereign grandeur of Rome, every region offers its own idiosyncratic customs and cuisine to accompany the merriment.

In the North, the joy of Christmas morning begins at midnight with a torch-lit ski trip down the mountains. In Rome, Italians attend Christmas Eve Mass at the Vatican, where the Pope himself presides over the congregation to relay a message of peace and goodwill while a choir fills the palatial space with glorious song.

One of the most eminent hallmarks of Italian culture is the importance of gathering together with friends and loved ones to share a meal and purvey gratitude for the gift of life and each other. At Christmastime, this ritual takes on an even greater meaning. Deliciously irresistible delicacies and traditional feasts are at the heart of the holiday for Italians during this month-long celebration. On Christmas Eve, the Feast of the Seven Fishes is a traditionally meatless custom that includes seven (yes, seven!) courses of seafood to begin the holiday on a pure and healthful note.

Then, all is undone by the plethora of regional sweets that adorn holiday tables in homes across the country. Panettone is the perfect accompaniment to a Christmas morning cappuccino, while a Roman breakfast spread might include spiced mostaccioli pastries. In Siena, cavallucci flavored with almonds, anise, and bejeweled with candied fruit dance of the palette and recall sweet memories of holidays past. All throughout Italy, tables groan under the weight of such tantalizing treats, while laughter rings from the rafters and glasses are raised high in hope and joyous revelry.

Here at EPCOT, we find a replica reminiscent of a Christmas scene in Piazza San Marco, complete with garland and lights strung up along the archways of Doge’s Palace and wrapping the wrought iron lampposts casting halos of light onto the stone benches and the towering Campanile. The genuine counterpart of this Venetian square also plays host to a multi-story tree comprised entirely of golden lights, with a gleaming Star of Bethlehem burning brightly into the night from on high.

(51:20) Here, the square remains open and inviting, elegant and refined. The raised platform at the center serves as a sort of stage to welcome our final guest of honor, a most enigmatic and benevolent figure called La Befana. Her story is legend, dating back to as early as the eighth century, and helps to account for the reason why, in Italy, Christmas is celebrated well into January.

As she tells her tale of Christmas, of how she has searched in earnest for the Christ child each Epiphany Eve for more than two thousand years, listen to the yearning in her voice, the longing to complete her quest, and the generosity of spirit that she has displayed throughout her journey.

La Befana leaves gifts and sweet treats for Italian children on the evening of January 5th, hoping that she will find the Christ child in her travels. In exchange, families leave a glass of goccia di grappa (Italian brandy) a wedge of cheese to fortify as she goes. And although she declined the invitation of the three wise men to accompany them on their way to visit the baby Jesus, she has never given up her dream of finding him and paying homage with her own humble offerings. Legend tells of her diligence and unwavering faith, her kindness, and the hope that guides her on her way. She is undeterred and tenacious; her spirit cannot be broken at the notion of her dream finally being realized someday, somehow.

La Befana’s story is the perfect place to pause on our holiday tour of nations. Listen to her words, the passion in her voice as she inspires us to seek the desires of our hearts, to say “yes” in the year to come - to new adventures, chance encounters, and quiet moments of joy and reflection at all of the wonders that surround us.

The holiday season is a time to turn back time and contemplate, not just the triumphs and trials of the year gone by, but the moments in between. These are the moments of waiting, of wondering, of wishing and willing reality to pan out half as well as our daydreams. They are the moments of pause and peace and utter contentment that stand out in our memory as prominently as our highs and lows. They are the “before;” before the sun comes up, before the day winds down, before the clock strikes midnight and we welcome in a brand new year.

Let’s create more of those moments this holiday season. Let’s find more Magic in the mundane, more wonder in the waiting. Like La Befana waiting in wistful longing for the appearance of the Christ child, like the anticipation of a season of joy and togetherness, or of the arrival of a sprightly barn Santa, these moments of “before” are charged with such a palpable energy, it could only be described as the Magic of the holiday season.

And so, until we continue our yuletide expedition around the world, we hope you’ll find a moment to step into these timeless and beloved holiday stories. Find a narrative that resonates with you, that fills you with a sense of nostalgic joy or curiosity. Listen to the sounds of the season, both near and far, and let your heart be comforted by the holiday traditions that never fail to find us and bring us home, year after year.

As our holiday journey continues, we hope you’ll come along and be a part of it all. Let us bring you into the realms of enchantment that live Here, onto the pages of this living storybook that spans the generations. Let your heart be light. Let your spirit be lifted up, adorned with Christmas cheer, and Here, as always, With the Magic.

(3:39) In the 1930s and 1940s, Hollywood was a vibrant young town full of dreamers and visionaries. Its sunny disposition and Art Deco architecture are iconic to this day, engaging and inviting at any time of year. Here, we find the place exactly as Walt Disney would have known it, youthful and full of the vim and vigor that resonated so deeply with his creative spirit.

(5:19) At Christmastime, the city once given the nickname “Tinseltown” raises the bar for holiday cheer, adorned as its namesake in glitz and glamour to delight visitors of all ages. We are invited, now, to step into the story of Christmases past, the imagination of Mr. Disney, and the Magic that happens when the golden age of Hollywood collides with this most special time of year.

(6:20) The Magic begins on Hollywood Boulevard, where big band orchestrations of our favorite swinging holiday songs immediately put us in a festive mood. Every lamppost and traffic light is layered with tinsel and bows, every building strung with lights and garland and signs of the season. Each storefront is a postcard, a Norman Rockwell scene of yuletide cheer. Presents wrapped in emerald and cranberry incite curiosity from little ones passing by, who pause to press their noses against the glass and envision their Christmas mornings yet to come.

On the corner of Hollywood and Sunset, the nostalgic aromas of gingerbread and peppermint waft into the street from the Trolley Car Café where long-awaited cups of creamy eggnog and frothy hot chocolate satiate everyone’s seasonal cravings…at least for a little while.

(9:00) Flashy and festive and dressed in Hollywood style, silver bells and candy canes and plenty of dazzling lights, this is an unforgettable way to begin our holiday tour of Tinseltown. Hollywood Boulevard signifies our arrival, our welcome to the place where dreams are only limited by how big you dare to dream them, and where holiday Magic and a little bit of luck might just see you up on the silver screen, starring alongside the Hollywood greats.

(10:39) Still, it’s fun to see how those who have come to call Hollywood “home” celebrate the holidays. Just a couple of blocks away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard is a lakeside community that flaunts the Art Deco theme with a fun, festive flair.

(12:15) Kitschy holiday decor joins the pastel colors and retro lights for a sensational sensory stroll through the neighborhood park. Benches and balconies offer sweeping views of Echo Lake and its sparkling Christmas tree. Gigantic baubles scattered across the water glow brightly in the darkness, while holiday brass brings everything to life and keeps the merriment going all night long.

(15:00) Here, visitors of all ages cannot help but give way to the allure of the festivities. Elderly couples sit comfortably and enjoy the goings on, the romance, the joy of the season, watching children dance without inhibition to their favorite holiday tunes. The ambitious young dreamers who have traveled Here in pursuit of something greater can be spotted on their own, gazing at the blurs of light and color on the rippling water, wishing with all their might for a chance, a break, a reality indistinguishable from their wistful musings.

(14:30) Perhaps even Walt himself once spent a cool December evening at a Hollywood lakeside park, gazing at the distortion of Christmas lights on the dark water in wonder, hoping that his dreams would become all that he imagined they could.

(20:41) Every Hollywood legend, every crooner and comic, starlet and sensation has been the scrappy young idealist at one time or another. This town is riddled with stories of luck and happenstance, of being in the right place at the right time, and the next stop on our Tinseltown tour is proof that destiny may very well have lent a hand in authoring these legendary narratives.

(25:00) Sunset Boulevard is a cavalcade of dazzling marquees, a technicolor display of the golden age of Hollywood and the people whose contributions are some of the most beloved parts of our holiday celebrations even today. Lined with Art Deco spotlights, quaint California markets, ice cream parlors, and towering palms decorated with shining tinsel stars, this is where we find the stories to inspire the next generation of show business elite.

(27:10) Among the yuletide cheer that meets our eyes and ears as we stroll past the theaters with their coming attractions set in lights are the smooth song stylings of the crooners, including the unmistakable legato of Bing Crosby and his timeless dreams of a White Christmas. They echo from every alleyway and sing in tandem with the flashing lights on every marquee, bringing to the bustle to a halt as we stand, mesmerized and enchanted.

(29:31) Pause for a moment, right where you are. Look up, among, and all around you. Everywhere, there is light and joy and hope and wonder. Those governors of the human spirit are amplified like song in the wake of the holiday season, regardless of how many years have gone by since Danny Kay was doing choreography and Rosemary Clooney was counting her blessings instead of sheep. They are forever, eternal and unwavering as the sunshine on an L.A. Christmas Day. They are comfort for those who most need to feel the friendly sense of familiarity that each twinkling light and jingle bell bring, joy for all who long for something to celebrate.

(31:22) The Magic of the season is what keeps us marveling at that which we know will come back to us again next year. It is the first chord of our favorite holiday song, the first warm sip of cocoa on the first cold, winter’s night. It is the first snowfall, the first cookie hot from the oven, the first midnight stroll under the starry Solstice sky.

Each year it is both familiar and brand new, a tale as old as time and a story you can’t put down. It fills us with joy that sustains us, peace that brings us much-needed rest, and hope that the future will be as bright as the lights that shone in the mind’s eye of a young Walt Disney, discovering the place where his dreams would come true for the very first time.

(32:35) Listen for the whispers that drift through the ages, from those starry-eyed dreamers who found comfort and joy in this season of celebration. No matter how far from home, no matter what the future held in store, they found hope Here in the present moment…and so can you. And whether you’re dreaming of a white Christmas or you’ll wake up to a blanket of sparkling snow, the spirit of the season resounds for all who are Here With the Magic. And now…

Lights, Camera, Action! Happy Holidays!

(3:00) A destination in its own right and beloved for decades, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is perhaps the warmest, coziest, and most inviting of the more than two dozen resorts scattered across Walt Disney World. That truth only becomes even more evident at Christmastime. Imagineered to resemble a great lodge, this grand timber-clad hideaway promises fire-lit evenings, magnificent details, and a welcome respite from the cold…real or imagined.

Nestled among a forest of towering pines, the lodge seems an extension of the wilderness, blending in with the woodland all around. At the entrance, a choir of a cappella carolers carries a cadence of reverence and anticipation, of hope and utmost tranquility. They are setting the tone for the cozy winter scene before us, the silent night in the heart of the wilderness only broken by their vibrato. Here, the entryway portico reveals the first signs of yuletide cheer, but as we move into the atrium beyond, we are irrevocably awestruck by the splendor before us.

(4:00) Four columns of bundled logs, representing the four corners of the world, surround a six-story spruce tree that has been commissioned for the holiday season. A vast cathedral with a jaw-dropping centerpiece, the tree stands triumphantly at the heart of the lobby, decorated with curations from the depths of the wilderness. Intricately carved wooden animals, poinsettias, pinecones, and flickering tepees adorn each branch, honoring the natural world that inspires every corner, every moment found within this Magical place.

The four striking tepee chandeliers frame the Christmas scene with perfect symmetry, bathing it in a warm glow and serving as a reminder of the native people who revered and cherished every rock, tree, and creature as a gift from the Great Spirit. At the culmination of each year, their celebrations were not to do with prosperity or power, but rather were used as a time of reflection, a time to of pause and of peace and gratitude.

(5:45) The hootin’ and hollerin’ merriment over at Whispering Canyon Café is infectious, lifting our spirits and making us smile involuntarily as watch families roar with laughter at the silly yuletide antics of the cowboys and cowgirls who gallivant around the dining room. The clatter of forks on tin plates and the wafting scent of old-fashioned barbecue are almost enough to divert us from our tour, especially at the prospect of freshly baked cornbread and sweet apple pie.

(7:03) The revelry and joy Here are infectious as the mouthwatering aromas. They remind us of holidays at home, gathered together with people we love around tables groaning with delicious food, sharing stories and creating priceless memories. The echoes of those stories come back to us Here, unbidden but profound. They remind us of how important it is to cherish the gift of each moment while it is ours to have and hold, and of the transcendent Magic of the holiday season.

(8:41) After that boisterous interlude, we cross the lobby and are reacquainted with the contemplative ardor of this space, now inviting us to rest and be still in the presence of the elements: earth, fire, wind, water.

(10:22) To that end, we come across a charming little bridge at the mouth of Silver Creek, a babbling hot spring that pulls the eye outside toward the wandering waterway beyond. It is Here that we notice more festive details to highlight the rustic merriment in the air. Ribbons in patterns of Buffalo plaid and patterned wooden canoes accent wreaths and garland, strung up along the little footbridge and on the wall of windows leading out into the winter twilight.

(11:28) All around the Lodge, the holiday nuances shift as we find ourselves moving from one area to the next. The bright red accents found throughout the lobby are joined by their patriotic counterparts as we enter Territory Lounge, a homey little den where friends can gather to share a festive libation and stories of holidays past.

(12:22) Here is where the first true notes of those beloved holiday carols greet our ears with glorious song, brightening the spirit of even the Grinchiest traveler. Pull up a chair and enjoy something that tastes of the season… a Hot Toddy or an Irish coffee? Perhaps some piping hot fondue to crowd around? Let it be a balm to the chill that lingers from outside as we spend a moment in this cozy space.

(13:49) Let’s make our way, now, back into the silent winter’s night and away from the echoes of revelry still rising above the chorus of carols in the main lodge. Down the pathway we go, along a wide bridge lit by lanterns. It is still but for the brass symphony of “Good King Wenceslas” and ”Little Drummer Boy.” Where are we headed, you might be wondering? What could possibly extract us from the allure of the main lodge, the cozy merrymaking?

(15:11) Upon entry into the rotunda of Boulder Ridge, all our confusions are allayed. Neither as grand nor as imposing as the lobby we just visited, Boulder Ridge is a chamber of timber and stone, a four-story retreat from its busier counterpart Here too, a Christmas tree stands at the center of the cavernous room, large and elegant in its own right. Its glow casts light all around the circular space, upon patterned rocking chairs and into hidden nooks.

(16:23) A fireplace dances jovially in a hearth set into the far wall, beckoning us into a vacant rocking chair in the wake of its warmth and light. The swell of holiday song reverberates around the rotunda, a private Christmas concert we can enjoy from the fireside mezzanine. Flames flicker away and music rises and falls in tandem. Time stands still and, for a moment at least, all is well.

As we rock back and forth in rhythm with the orchestra, we realize that what we have really found Here in this place is the sought after tranquility so ubiquitously associated with this time of year. Impervious and resting like snowfall on the tips of tree branches, peace is a gentle presence. Like a friend who takes a seat next to you by the open hearth, not speaking or making a sound, peace is a comfort to the weary and worn, to those who have known trials and strife in the year gone by, and to those who simply need to know that they are not alone.

You are not alone, not Here in this place where so many memories have been etched into the edifice of rock and stored in the rings of centuries-old reclaimed timber. These moments, of happiness, of peace and togetherness, are brought back to life in a special way this time of year.

(17:20) They move like snowflakes, softly and quietly, and like Magic, undetectable by human eyes and yet felt as ardently as heat from the firelight. They twirl about and echo with the laughter and joy of generations, gladdening our spirits and revitalizing our souls. We know them, their sense of wonder and their delight at the Christmas season. We feel it too, as though they were seated by the fireside With us, sharing stories and hopes and dreams for the year to come. Still, the starry night outside calls to us, and a moonlit stroll along the edge of the forest is Magical in the winter stillness.

(19:28) We hear the distant sounds of a waterfall calling from the wilderness, the horns from the nearby boat dock punching through the peaceful night as they make their final journey across Bay Lake before retiring for the evening.

(19:59) The acoustic strum of the holidays surrounds us Here too, but as we make our way to the intoxicating aroma of campfire cooking at the water’s edge, we find our nostalgia once again ignited as the electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds of the Water Pageant reach our ears.

(21:54) With an extra skip in our step, we follow the lights and sounds along the lakeshore, past the now dormant Fire Rock Geyser, and around the unusually empty Silver Creek Springs pool. On a cold night like this, and given the lateness of the hour, swimming seems an unlikely activity. Even so, the glassy surface reflects the moonlight, giving it a mesmerizing, ethereal glimmer.

The revitalizing breeze brings us out of our reverie and into the present moment as we make our way along the winding pathways and footbridges toward the rush of Silver Creek Falls. We hear the babble of Silver Creek as it drifts along toward the picturesque waterfall, drowning out any sounds of caroling, of pageantry, or boats ferrying guests.

(25:09) The gentle strum of a guitar plays into the night the sounds of the Solstice, serene and somehow part of the woodland fabric all around us. Violins glide through the melody like skaters on a frozen lake, so free and limitless in the capacity of their song.

(26:41) Following the path alongside Silver Creek, we are brought once again into the luminescent radiance of the main lodge, its wall of high windows offering blurred visions of the people within. Like a scene from a beloved holiday story, we watch children’s eyes mirror the dancing firelight, wide and in awe of the holiday wonderland they have found. We watch couples holding each other close, families reunited around the Christmas tree.

(31:14) It would be impossible, standing out Here in the damp night air, to resist being part of such an enchanting scene. Rather than disrupt the holiday greetings and “welcome homes,” we find rest on the fringes of the scene, a sleek, high-backed rocker in front of the 82-foot tall Grand Canyon fireplace. Its massive stone structure and elaborate iron grate are a focal point in the absence of the opulent Christmas tree, but in this Norman Rockwell scene it instead offers a quiet, unassuming vigil; a refuge for anyone seeking a cozy moment of pause by the comforting blaze.

(33:13) It is Here, on the outskirts of the yuletide cheer, that we are able to observe the true Magic of this place come to life. Elevated to its pinnacle in its overlay light and color, warmth and grace, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a space for every kind of celebration. Whether you find yourself Here surrounded by loved ones, or in seeking solitude and reflection on your own, this space is comfort and joy in equal measure. It wraps us all in the resonant warmth of the season, unbiased and indulgent, in a welcome that makes us feel so very much at home, no matter how far from home we really are.

(37:50) However your holiday season is taking shape, whatever draws you Here in heart or in spirit, it is our hope that you will know peace in this place that resounds like the choir of carolers now bidding us goodnight. We hope you will feel comforted by the undeniable presence of holiday cheer.

(42:00) And on a silent, snowy night nestled in the valleys of the Pacific Northwest, a roaring fire calls you to rest in its cozy, incandescent glow. Whether weary from all that you’ve carried so far or alight with the joy of this season of hope, there is space held for you Here. This moment, this glorious time of year, is yours to be present in, yours to find comfort in, yours to know lasting peace. Be Here With the Magic of the holidays, the Magic that is found on a cold winter’s evening in this haven in the heart of the wilderness.

(4:37) As the days grow shorter and the winter solstice draws ever nearer, star-strewn skies and cool breezes eclipse the sun-drenched afternoons and balmy evenings. Every corner of the hemisphere is preparing for the realities of winter; the chill in the air, the anticipation of the first snowfall. Even those parts of the world who don’t experience some of the more frigid moments of the fourth season can still sense the shift. Suddenly, we are moved by an inclination to add more layers and crave a warm beverage.

Perhaps the most exciting indication that winter is upon us once more is the highly-anticipated approach of the holiday season. Twinkling lights, love and laughter and togetherness with the people we like best, and warm memories become the stuff of our daydreams and plans. Everywhere we turn, smiles seem more genuine and signs of hope and celebration adorn every shop and street corner.

(5:51) Hardly the exception to the rule, the merriest time of year is upon us once again, and every nook and cranny of Walt Disney World has been dressed for the occasion. Breathtaking lights and stunning decorations have begun to spring up in every space, while holiday music regales visitors to this most Magical, festive place. At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the yuletide celebration is a deeply meaningful testimony to the way different parts of the world engage in the season, their traditions and stories.

Upon entry into Discovery Island, we can immediately feel the holiday cheer that has layered itself over the story of this vibrant, exotic place. We have stumbled upon a village evidently in the midst of its celebration of the Solstice, with frosted garlands adorning each rooftop and column, accented by intricate wooden animal carvings, woven stars and elegant snowflakes. Warm lights illuminate long winter nights, and beautiful lanterns, each decorated with a different woodland creature, flicker in the moonlight.

As we meander around the towering, majestic Tree of Life, we are enlivened by vibrant drum beats and xylophonic harmonies playing some of our favorite holiday tunes. The waterfalls of the surrounding gardens provide a space of zen and contentment. Here, all is calm, all is bright.

(7:11) The “Merry Menagerie” entertain travelers with music and exquisitely-crafted, life-sized puppets. Polar bears, foxes, penguins, and reindeer interact with their new friends, scampering about and leaving cheer and awe wherever they wander.

(7:38) We bid a friendly farewell to our new arctic acquaintances and head across the bridge to Africa. Here, the holidays are lively, and endlessly joyous. The mandinka harp and the djembe play a fun and enticing rhythm, welcoming everyone to the Ivory Coast village and the seasonal festivities. We are just passing through, but it would be impossible not to pause Here and revel in the jubilation all around us. In a culture with such rich history, compelling stories, and time-honored traditions, we receive an open invitation to be Here and to celebrate with them.

(8:31) All throughout the village of Harambe, a vibrant display of colors and textures hang from rooftop to rooftop. Made from repurposed materials, wild grass and painted gourds, these decorations are an amalgamation of the resourceful people who work together to make their home beautiful and bright. Ornaments made from tin and clay, ribbons made from patterned textiles, and wooden carvings of savanna wildlife are strung up along electrical wires, from balconies and doorways.

The Village of Harambe is a an exhibition for the senses, and testament to the joy that is a way of life Here. Their holiday is not governed by opulence or evaluated in terms of excess. Rather, this is a people who celebrate simplicity, contrive happiness from their humble circumstances, and find Magic in the mundane.

(9:18) We can carry their spirit on with us as we visit yet another nation and its holiday traditions. Asia, a vast and incomprehensible array of cultures steeped in millennia of fascinating history, is a continent which celebrates in a very different way than many of us are accustomed. Many traditions of Hindus as well as Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, during the Hindu lunisolar month Kartika, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. Diwali lasts five days and is both a tribute to the harvest and to the coming new year. It is a celebration of hope, of gratitude and new beginnings, and of the triumph of light over darkness.

(9:58) In Asia, there is no Christmas tree, no caroling, no manger scene. Here instead we find rows of brightly-colored lanterns hung above and all around us, representing the pursuit of ultimate happiness and the opportunity to walk in the light. Beaded garlands are accented by ornate hamsa symbols and lotus flowers, offset in brilliant color by golden marigolds, orange gerberas, and red carnations.

Enchanting music plays throughout the kingdom of Anandapur, bringing light and life through the rhythms of tabla drums and the melodies of a sitar and the mesmerizing shehnai. We are transported; this place and its traditions a complete departure from what many of us know. And yet, something is familiar…

Like the celebrations we found in Harambe, the Diwali rituals are rooted in philosophies we not only recognize, but that we share. Joy, light, peace, harmony, and togetherness…all components of celebrations the world that comprise a mosaic masterpiece of global unity. These holidays, we are coming to realize, are beautiful because of the rituals that make them unique, but are Magical because of the common threads we find woven through them all.

(11:24) Still, what’s the holiday season without a little whimsy? Dinoland, U.S.A., the roadside amusement park experiment of the wacky Chester and Hester, certainly seems to have brought out all the most…ostentatious decor to suit the occasion. Big band music and jazzy vocals echo above the carnival bells and dings, welcoming us to the Christmas party of prehistoric legend.

(12:34) Streets lined with tinsel candy canes and a neon rooftop Santa scene are among the most eye-catching yuletide displays. Even the skeleton of a massive Brontosaurus at the Boneyard has been draped in lights and given a jolly hat to boot. Though it might be tempting to stay and swing the night away, one last holiday spectacle is calling to us, and it’s sure to be the most enchanting one yet.

(14:00) Under the cloak of darkness, the Tree of Life seems a formidable shadow against the star-strewn sky. We find ourselves back in the open clearing of Discovery Island, watching, waiting.

Then, like the star that led three wise men from the Far East and the light that glowed brightly for the wandering Israelites, the Tree of Life bursts into being. Light and spirit awakened, the Tree tells a story as old as time itself, of creation and wonder and the most joyous time of year.

(16:40) Set to a score of heartwarming holiday music, the Tree of Life whispers and sings in Magical harmonies of joy and peace, stillness and irrepressible hope. Whispers of the gentlest snowfall on a cold, winter’s night crescendo into an aurora borealis, a winter dream brought to life as our journey comes to its end.

(20:15) Once again, we are reminded of the essence of our humanity that shines so brightly at this time of year - that we are all beings who are drawn to light, restored by hope, and uplifted by joy. Where we come from, who we are, and how we celebrate are the unique and luminescent details that create such a beautiful tapestry of our global story, but it is those commonalities that weave the golden threads of love and light throughout the entire narrative.

(24:50) And so, as we embrace once again on the warmth and excitement of this holiday season, may we remember the Magic that unites as all, that brings us together as one people of many colors, one tapestry of many patterns, one candle burning brightly to light up a world that so ardently needs it.

(28:15) Happy holidays to you and yours.
May you find peace and joy in each and every moment.

(3:45) The Roaring 20s in America was characterized by an age of glamour, affluence, and entertainment. While many Americans were celebrating a return to post-war normalcy and living outside their means, a young Walt Disney packed his belongings and the little money he had and headed for Hollywood. Despite warnings from his father, Walt was inspired by a life in Tinseltown and determined to make his mark on the industry.

He arrived to Hollywood in 1923 with just forty dollars, some cartoon sketches, and the audacious hope that rallies a childlike spirit. Over the course of the following decades, and long after his death, his legacy remains one of the most profound and incredible in American history. His films are beloved in the hearts and homes of people around the world and his theme parks, which span continents and language barriers, are visited by millions of guests, year-round. He could have never known, as he stepped off the train and into the warm California sunshine, that he would grow to become one the most cherished advocates for joy and happiness to ever live. He could have never known that the sketch of a genial little mouse nestled in his briefcase would spring to life and inspire smiles and laughter for generations.

That is the Magic of Hollywoodland - that a person from humble beginnings with scrappy ideas can become a star, a cultural icon in their own right. This place captures all the charm and dazzling ambition of its golden age, just as Walt knew it. Touches of imagination enhance its vibrancy, its jazzy swing, its ability to stay rooted resolutely in this postwar era of prosperity.

(6:16) Hear the jazzy music beginning to swell? It’s inviting us to step into the story of one of the most beloved and famous streets in America…welcome to Sunset Boulevard.

(8:00) Resplendent with sunny sidewalks and towering palm trees, eye-catching shops and decadent treats, Sunset Boulevard is a darling retreat into an era of emerging starlets, big band music, and truly magnificent fashions. Here, telephones are mounted on walls with rotary dials and vinyl records crackle and jump on their players. Whimsical soda shops are usually riddled with any number of prospective film stars, perched expectedly on round leather barstools and sipping malts with due diligence and slightly queasy expressions.

(11:12) Today, we have donned our oxfords or our saddle shoes and stepped back in time to the 1940s, and so immersive are our surroundings, the buildings with their art deco architecture of the late 1920s and 30s, that at any moment we might expect to see Lucille Ball peering into boutiques on the hunt for movie stars, or perhaps Frank Sinatra tilting his fedora slightly lower as he walks past us, in an effort to avoid detection.

(12:00) At the time of Walt’s earlier successes, the theater district of Los Angeles was abuzz with excitement and whirring with new ideas and production. Here on Sunset Boulevard, we are treated to a generous preview of what it might have been like to hobnob with actors and attend extravagant premieres. The Beverly Sunset Theater at the top of the street boasts a flashing marquee, and a gleaming 1941 gold Cadillac seems to have pulled up right across the street to chauffeur some of Hollywood’s elite to the event.

(13:26) In fact, all along Sunset Boulevard there are a collection of unique and ornate theaters, each showcasing different coming attractions and “now showing” advertisements. They are inspired by the genuine articles, counterparts which were once popular locations for film premieres during the heyday of Hollywood. Even Carthay Circle theater can be located as we make our way to the next block of Sunset. Here, we find threads of reminiscence for the theater which once hosted the premiere for Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, one of the highlight’s of Walt Disney’s career and the first feature-length animated film in history.

(15:00) All around us, nods to an American love of moviegoing and a growing fascination with stardom are apparent. From the sprawling Sunset Ranch Market, where Robert Taylor once signed an orange for an avid fan (much to Ricky Ricardo’s dismay), to the Hollywood Scoops ice cream shop where it is rumored Lana Turner was discovered drinking an ice cream soda until she got a brain freeze, making it rather difficult for her to recall the name of the producer who recommended her for his next picture.

Remnants of the lives and luxuries of those burgeoning movie stars are everywhere, making us feel swept up in the giddy romance of it all. The Andrews Sisters croon at us as we meander, and Glenn Miller’s lively orchestra keeps time with the whimsical mood. All up and down the Boulevard, trolley cars and quaint park benches make invite us to spend a moment or a while sightseeing and taking in the views.

(16:16) For those of us looking to have an authentic Hollywood experience, trolley tours and sidewalk sightseeing simply won’t suffice. A sun-worn billboard at the end of Sunset, partially obscured by branches, advertises “fashionable dining” and “modern accommodations” at the renowned Hollywood Tower Hotel.

(18:51) Staying right in the middle of the glitz and glitter of this bustling young movie town sounds like a riveting invitation, so we make our way to the end of the street, and into the gardens in the Hollywood Tower Hotel courtyard. Cracked stone fountains and overgrown foliage give an air of neglect to what were obviously once elegant, well-tended grounds. Echoes of big band music and haunting vocals reverberate through the trellises creeping with vines, each note sounding as though they were being performed from inside a cavern.

(22:22) The eerie feeling of desertion is elevated to a disconcerting level upon entry into the grand lobby. A vast, high-ceilinged room, ornate at one time and now coated in an impenetrable layer of cobwebs and dust, there is no doubt in our minds that this place is surely abandoned, no longer accommodating guests…right?

The echoes of trumpets and brass are still more pronounced here in the dimly lit atrium, still littered with suitcases and hatboxes from guests who had apparently checked in and either failed to remember their belongings upon departure or...and this thought is more alarming still…never checked out.

(23:20) And yet, this place only appears to be long-since forsaken, as a mysterious bellhop calls us out of our reverie and over an equally lusterless library which obviously has not seen a book removed from its shelves in many years.

Suddenly, everything goes dark and we are pulled firmly and possibly irreversibly from the warm nostalgia of young Hollywood and into another dimension…a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. Back to a stormy night in 1939 when five people stepped into an elevator in this very hotel and never stepped out…

(25:26) We have embodied their story, taken on its narrative as our own as we find ourselves traveling through lightning struck corridors and falling down, down, down…into the past, into the darkness, into…the gift shop?

(27:00) And just as quickly as storms roll in, we are back on the sun-soaked sidewalks of Sunset Boulevard and the glorious glamour of 1940s Hollywood, nothing sinister in sight. Perhaps we ought to treat ourselves to an ice cream sundae, or simply a leisurely stroll to the Brown Derby to see if we can spot some movie stars out to lunch?

The world is your oyster in Hollywood; anyone can be anything. We can be a crooner, or a comic, a famous star or a shrewd producer. Or, we can simply be Here, beneath the gently swaying palms and the vivid marquees, quietly observing a piece of history glittering with opportunity. A place where, nearly a hundred years ago, a man stepped off a train and into the sunlight with just forty dollars, a vivd imagination, and a fantastic dream he was determined would come true.

Hollywood is a place of mystery and Magic, of grit and grandeur, and the story told Here embodies it all in one joyful celebration of audacious, impervious hope. Whatever brings you Here, whatever dream you carry with you, it’s sure to be an adventure. Ready for your close-up?

Lights, camera…action!

(0:00) The age-old question inevitably posed to any visitor to the Magic Kingdom is this: which way do you go first? Once you’ve stepped off Main Street U.S.A. and into the Cinderella Castle hub, there are several stories that circumvent the sparkling turrets and elegant courtyards that call to us with equal vigor and intrigue. Some hear the tinkling of a carousel and head straight toward the Castle, over the drawbridge and into Fantasyland. Others are enticed by the sound of tiki drums and a resounding “Yo Ho” from Adventureland. Still others enjoy stepping back in time, whether into America’s inaugural moments or the tumbleweed towns of the Wild West.

Then, there are those whose insatiable curiosity is not fed by scenes from the past, nor by wandering the medieval villages of fairytales brought to life. These are the ponderers, the ones who yearn for the future and what unknown wonders it might hold. As Walt Disney once put it, these are the people who “savor the challenge and promise of the future.” They resist the gravitational pull of the terrestrial, the time-worn traditions of the past. They look to Tomorrow, and it is there that they find inspiration and delight. Today, we are among them.

(3:15) There is a bridge on the eastern side of Cinderella Castle, complete with a silver archway and otherworldly rock formations jettisoning off on either side. The shining words emblazoned at its peak read “Tomorrowland,” and our curious minds awaken suddenly in excitement and utmost attentiveness.

A land of discovery and off-the-charts imagination, Tomorrowland is distinctly unlike every other corner of the Magic Kingdom. Our eyes are drawn upward and all around. Here, the sky is most certainly not the limit; we have an entire universe beyond to explore.

All along the walkway toward Rockettower Plaza, a streetcar in the sky glides by, smoothly and serenely escorting passengers to their various destinations across the galaxy. A friendly, robotic voice narrates a grand circle tour of Tomorrowland, pointing out popular attractions and must-sees on your visit to this futuristic destination.

(4:49) As we pass the Monster’s Incorporated Laugh Floor, the indomitable Roz drawls in apathetic tones that do not invite us to linger.

An otherworldly symphony of sounds provides the rhythm for our journey, intriguing and unlike anything we might hear around the rest of the park. Synthesized and unrecognizable as being produced by any Earthly instrument, we catch glimpses of familiar tunes, including the Sherman Brothers classic that inspired so much of this place: “There’s a Great, Big, Beautiful Tomorrow.”

(6:37) Up ahead, Rockettower Plaza is a technicolor tower of unrelenting kinesis. Planets and moons of all sizes and hues orbit each other, while rockets circle below, round and round the hub of Tomorrowland - a perfect bird’s eye view of the action below. The Tomorrowland Transit Authority: PeopleMover sails along, around the edges of the plaza and off toward the spires of Space Mountain gleaming in the distance.

(8:30) Tall and formidable and undoubtedly the marquee attraction of Tomorrowland, Space Mountain is a thrill and a wonder for all. How else can you imagine to fly alongside swirling galaxies and among millions of stars, all within the span of several minutes? Those shining spires call to the daring, the curious, and those who simply feel as drawn as Walt Disney was space: America’s last frontier. Come, let’s see what lies in store in the great, galactic unknown.

(9:20) An enchanting Star Tunnel plays us a peaceful lullaby, pulling us into a trance as we make our way throughout the space station and toward the loading dock. Constellations float along in tandem with the music on either side, utterly mesmerizing and celestial. Let’s pause Here for a moment, among the Magic of the stars. Adventure awaits, but it can always spare a moment of stillness and serenity.

(11:38) Onward we go into the depths of Space Mountain. We can hear control tower happenings from our position at the launch, directing travelers all across the galaxy.

(14:10) Suddenly, we find ourselves at the helm of our very own rocket, secured and ready (or not) for our own flight across space and time and the grand enigma of the universe. 3-2-1, blastoff! We are one among the cosmos, soaring and winding our way past the Milky Way as it glimmers against the star-strewn blanket of atmosphere. Arrestingly beautiful and oddly serene, it is awe-inspiring to imagine what it must be like to leave the world and all we know behind in pursuit of interstellar discovery.

(15:34) A truly unforgettable thrill, Space Mountain leaves us both wind-blown and mind-blown upon our return to Earth. Then it’s back out into Tomorrowland and Rockettower Plaza in pursuit of our next adventure.

(17:25) Perhaps it’s time at last to climb aboard the PeopleMover for a spin around Tomorrowland. Day or night, these views of the Magic Kingdom cannot be beat, and a relaxing, languorous journey is the just what we need after heart-pounding, high test Space Mountain.

(19:37) A cool, evening breeze is a welcome relief as our chariot sweeps us away from Rockettower Plaza. Our first stop is a showcase of Progress City, Walt Disney’s original inspiration for what later became EPCOT Center. Though his vision for a utopian community was never fully realized, the ideals, themes, and design elements are present throughout Walt Disney World, especially Here in Tomorrowland.

(20:22) Gliding along, we watch young and ambitious future motorists taking their place behind the wheel for the first time in a tribute to the growing automotive industry of Walt’s day. The Tomorrowland Speedway may not contend with the speed and stimulation that thrill-seekers crave, but the littlest drivers can’t get enough.

(21:20) And just like that, we’re whooshed back to the rocket launch of Space Mountain, watching the rockets on their ascent to take off as we coast toward outer space. From the control tower, we hear that classic last-minute passenger being located. “Paging Mr. Morrow, Mr. Tom Morrow…Please contract Mr. Johnson in the control tower to confirm your flight to the moon.”

Hoping Mr. Tom Morrow makes it before the day is through, we circle past shooting stars and rockets hurtling toward their lunar destinations. Then, it’s back into the fading light of Tomorrowland, the spires of Space Mountain glinting in the setting sun.

(24:32) Soon, we hear that jaunty Sherman Brothers tune rise up from the theater below, daring us not to sing along as we pass. The Magic Kingdom iteration of Walt Disney’s exhibition at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, the Carousel of Progress is not only a beacon of the ideals that governed Walt throughout his life and career, but of the ones that still hold true at Disney parks all across the world today. Though nearly six decades have passed since its debut, the Carousel of Progress remains a whimsical, timeless reminder of what can happen when we let our dreams take flight on the wings of Progress and innovation.

(25:38) Leaving the notions of America’s golden age of industry behind, we speed off toward an epic space mission, accompanied by the one and only Buzz Lightyear. Space ranger and galactic hero, Buzz has enlisted us to aid him in his quest to save the galaxy. Aliens and extraterrestrial volcanoes below promise a spectacular adventure.

27:30) With one final glimpse of the Kingdom beyond, our guided tour of Tomorrowland comes gently to its end. We’re back on our own to feet, which may come as a relief after all of the excitement of soaring through the cosmos. Every sharp line and towering obelisk looks significantly larger from this vantage point, and suddenly we gain some perspective on our position in the vastness of the universe beyond.

(29:30) A final destination calls to us today, before our journey through Tomorrowland can fully be considered complete. As night falls and neon lights burst into fluorescent life, music spilling out from a galactic hotspot invites us in for a spell. Offering casual indulgences and plenty of seating, Cosmic Ray’s is a great place to kick back and enjoy the ambience of an alien night club.

(30:45) Our host, the famous and celebrated Sonny Eclipse, takes his place at the piano for a rousing number he affectionately calls the “Planetary Boogie.” An obviously popular favorite amongst the regulars, this snappy, swinging number has even the humans tapping their feet and nodding along between sips of soda and bites of shoestring fries. Get up and dance, why don’t you? Don’t worry for a moment about embarrassing yourself - you’ll never see any of these aliens again, anyway.

(32:14) Appetites satisfied and sillies all shook out, we make our way back into the blanket of nighttime. Stranger Things have happened than to find ourselves among otherworldly creatures and stories in the course of a day at the Magic Kingdom, but we can’t wait to do it again. We’d be remiss if we didn’t allow these moments to enrapture us, call out our childlike wonder and fill us with lasting joy. This place is nothing if not memorable, whimsical, wonderful, inspiring. That is the promise of Tomorrowland: that we who seek to be a part of building the future must employ our imaginations as much as anything else. That the future is a promise built on what becomes of today, and Tomorrow is just a dream away.
