We caught up with Anthony Corder, powerhouse vocalist of the legendary Memphis rock band Tora Tora, during RockNPod in Nashville — a celebration of all things music, mayhem, and legacy.

Known for his soulful grit, searing range, and unmistakable Southern swagger, Anthony helped lead Tora Tora into the spotlight during the late ’80s hard rock explosion. Their debut album Surprise Attack (1989) broke into the Billboard Top 50 and spawned hits like “Walkin’ Shoes” and “Guilty,” quickly earning the band a loyal following and critical acclaim.

But Tora Tora wasn’t just another Sunset Strip copycat — they were rooted in Memphis soul, blues tradition, and authentic rock ‘n’ roll storytelling, shaped by the city's deep musical history and the legendary Ardent Studios where they got their start.

• Co-founded Tora Tora in 1985

We had the pleasure of attending Rock N Pod 2025 in Nashville - an annual gathering of rock fans, podcasters, artists, and industry insiders. It’s where stories are swapped, riffs are relived, and legends walk among fans. While there, we had the honor of sitting down with some incredible guests, including one of our favorite axe-slingers - Brian “Damage” Forsythe.

Brian Forsythe is best known as the lead guitarist for Kix, the hard rock outfit that helped define the swagger and sound of the '80s East Coast rock scene. With his unmistakable tone, laid-back cool, and bluesy, razor-sharp riffs, Brian brought a raw authenticity to a genre often known for flash. Greg Kihn: A Retrospective

Greg Kihn, the singer-songwriter and bandleader best known for his hits "Jeopardy" and "The Breakup Song (They Don’t Write 'Em)," passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy that spans decades. Born in Baltimore in 1949, Kihn moved to California in the early 1970s, where he became a fixture of the Bay Area music scene. His band, The Greg Kihn Band, gained popularity in the late '70s and early '80s with their infectious blend of rock, pop, and new wave.

Kihn's music was characterized by its catchy hooks and relatable lyrics, often dealing with love and relationships. "Jeopardy," released in 1983, became a massive hit, reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and solidifying Kihn's place in pop-rock history. The song's iconic music video, which played heavily on MTV, further cemented its success.

Beyond his music career, Greg Kihn was also an author, DJ, and later a radio personality, continuing to influence the music world from behind the microphone. His work, both on and off the stage, left an undeniable mark on rock music, and he will be remembered as a versatile artist who brought joy and energy to his listeners. Jack Russell: A Retrospective

Jack Russell, the powerhouse vocalist and founding member of the hard rock band Great White, passed away, leaving behind a legacy intertwined with the story of one of the most iconic bands of the 1980s and early '90s. Born in 1960 in Montebello, California, Russell's journey in music began at a young age, and by the late '70s, he had co-founded the band that would bring him international fame.

Great White broke into the mainstream with their album Once Bitten in 1987, featuring the hit single "Rock Me." The follow-up album, ...Twice Shy (1989), further propelled the band to success, with their cover of Ian Hunter's "Once Bitten, Twice Shy" becoming a top 10 hit. Russell's powerful, bluesy voice was a key element of the band’s sound, blending seamlessly with their hard-rocking yet melodic style.

Despite facing personal and professional challenges over the years, Russell continued to perform and create music, both with Great White and as a solo artist. His dedication to his craft never wavered, and he remained a beloved figure in the rock community.

Tragically, Russell’s career was marred by the 2003 nightclub fire during a Great White concert, which resulted in the loss of 100 lives. The incident deeply affected him, and he spent years grappling with the aftermath. Yet, he persevered, finding solace in music and continuing to perform for his fans.

Jack Russell's voice, charisma, and passion for rock 'n' roll made him a standout figure in the genre. His contributions to Great White's success and his resilience in the face of adversity will be remembered by fans and peers alike. His legacy is one of powerful performances, unforgettable hits, and an enduring spirit that will live on in the annals of rock history.
