Eliza Bishop on Her Love of Entrepreneurship + Beautiful Paper25 Apr 202300:40:09

Today I am joined by Eliza Bishop. Eliza's business, Paper Eliza, was a happy accident. During her Freshman year of college, Eliza found herself accepting a marketing internship with a graphic designer who specialized in helping small businesses grow through social media. Eliza sketched the illustrations, saved the documents, called the printing company that she was familiar with and placed the order. In order to open an account with the printers and print the cards, they asked the name of her paper business. Art of the Entry + Business Advice for Startups with Monica Lavin11 Mar 202500:51:02

Today I am joined by Monica Lavin. Monica is a Charleston, South Carolina-based designer and entrepreneur. Guided by a lifelong affinity for design, her journey has spanned several realms. With a Master’s in Education, Monica began her career at NASA, immersing herself in emerging technology and social influence. She later pivoted to the world of academia, serving as a professor at the College of Charleston and Savannah College of Art and Design.

In 2015, Monica founded Lavin Label, a popular blog celebrating aspirational interiors. Beloved for its visual storytelling, Lavin Label ushered in a new wave of creative pursuits. Monica embraced one of her greatest passions: interior design itself.

Today, Monica is eagerly launching a new venture, combining her love for design with her instincts for creative problem solving. Through her work on Lavin Label, she observed her audience’s draw to exterior-focused content, and found herself searching for the kind of design-driven accents that simply weren’t being made. Hailing from West Virginia steel country, it only seemed right to manufacture something herself.

Through Art of the Entry, her growing lifestyle brand, Monica creates timeless pieces for entries and exteriors. The designs (including mailboxes, doormats, and other thoughtfully crafted products) are elegant and refined, inspired by Southern heritage design and the region’s traditions of hospitality.
