QUICK HIT: What Power Does Pres. Trump REALLY Have?22 Jan 202500:07:15

President Trump, like all presidents before him, has the power of the pen but not a magic wand.

We take a a closer look at two of President Trump’s first moves in office: issuing pardons and executive orders – and both the extraordinary reach and extraordinary limitations of a president’s power (in less than 10 minutes!)

Key Takeaways:

  • Presidential power is often perceived differently than it is in reality.
  • The power of forgiveness is a significant aspect of presidential authority.
  • Clemency can take the form of pardons or commutations, each with different implications.
  • Pardons restore civil rights but do not erase criminal records.
  • Critics argue that executive actions can overstep presidential authority.

REWIND: The Final Destination For "Dear Santa" Letters (And The Real-Life "Elf" Who Answers Them!)13 Dec 202400:38:45

An interview from our holiday vault! Be charmed by now 93-year-old Mrs. Koch - the "Chief Elf" of one Santa Claus, Indiana.

~~~~~~~
Have you heard of Santa Claus, Indiana?
Founded in 1856, this town serves as one of the main destinations for "Dear Santa" letters from all over the world.
And this happened, in many ways, because one family took the reins (no reindeer jokes ... yet).
Meet 92-year-old Mrs. Koch (pronounced "Cook"). She holds many titles – including Santa's daughter, Chief Elf, and founder of the Santa Claus Museum – preserving the stories of the past that she now shares with us, including:
  • How Santa Claus, IN got its name
  • How a WW1 veteran became Santa's best helper
  • How the team receives and responds to tens of thousands of letters mailed from around the world.
A perfect news break for anyone who needs a little Christmas spirit – or has some to spare! We hope this interview leaves you with one thought this season ... "Believe!"
With raw candor, Justin walks us through the early days of entrepreneurship and the recent devastation brought by Helene that has tested not only his professional fortitude but his personal faith.
This unique story of hope and grit highlights one man’s tenacity, the strength of North Carolina’s unique business culture and community, and the undeniable resilience of the American spirit - a conversation truly made to connect 'sole' to soul.
INTERVIEW: Biting The Bullet - Yes, American Soldiers Really Did This ...29 Aug 202400:37:32
We speak to the Executive Director of Archaeology at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Jack Gary, who oversees the largest living history museum in the world at Williamsburg, Virginia. In the soil of a proposed construction project, Gary's team unearthed military barracks dating back to the first soldiers of the American Revolution. The new discovery provides an unique view into the everyday life of America's first soldiers - from their habits, to their fashions and beyond. When asked how working at the Virginia archeological site has impacted his perspective on America, Gary says the work has taught him "empathy" - and a deep appreciation "for where our country came from and all the different people who got us to where we are." As we get ready for another election season, we hope this interview does the same. Enjoy!
