The boys are still down to two this week, but fortunately, there’s a brand new, chilled, but exciting episode ready for your ears! This episode is aimed at the gearheads! Rhys and Jack sat down this week to talk (fangirl) over their mutual love for a new reverb pedal that Rhys bought, the Ventris by Source Audio. Among other things, this episode touches on some useful gear advice for those who are just getting their first pedal or building their board.

Investing in new pedals and small gear additions to your setup can be an ideal way of jump-starting a new interest in composition, performance, or curiosity!

In this jam, we each break down our thoughts on how useful music theory can be for the average musician, and whether it is worth investing in music theory to further your musicianship. As improvisers, composers and teachers we explore the conversation around music theory and where it’s not so useful. This segment also dives into some of the ways that we draw back from theoretical concepts and use other means to influence our creative process.

We all found this a fun concept to explore as each of us had different thoughts and ideas that led to interesting avenues of discussion. From understanding how history has viewed music theory to chats about our own experiences abandoning and embracing music theory.
