How Your Emotional Pace Shapes Trust, Stress, and Outcomes02 Dec 202500:33:20

This episode dives into one of the most overlooked yet influential leadership skills: emotional pacing—the speed, tone, and intensity of your emotional responses in meetings, conversations, decisions, and crises.

As the transcript reveals, your team’s nervous system mirrors yours, and your emotional tempo has measurable effects on engagement, cognitive capacity, stress levels, and trust. Leaders who master emotional pacing don’t just communicate better—they transform culture quietly and powerfully.

Through research-backed insight, real-world examples, and actionable strategies, this episode breaks down how emotional pacing works, how it impacts high-performing teams, and how you can intentionally shift your tempo to lead with clarity, stability, and credibility.

────────────────────────
 Key Talking Points

• Why every leader carries an “invisible metronome” that shapes team performance.
 • How your emotional tempo—fast, reactive, calm, or flat—affects trust, engagement, and stress.
 • Research from Yale, Stanford, and Gallup on how leaders’ emotional tone influences team outcomes.
 • Why your team shouldn’t have to adapt to your emotional pace—and what great leaders do instead.
 • How to pre-decide your emotional pace before tough meetings, decisions, or conflict.

Shed the Bias of Mars/Venus Fallacy with Christoffel Sneijders17 Oct 202300:38:48

Have you ever heard the saying, “men are from Mars, women are from Venus?” It comes from the popular 1992 book of the same name, which posited that men and women are fundamentally different, and it’s a lack of understanding of our male and female traits that causes problems in relationships.

However this philosophy is outdated, and today’s guest has a different theory.

Christoffel Sneijders is a leadership coach and therapist, and he’s speaking with me today about what he calls the Mars and Venus Fallacy — because men and women are, in fact, biologically similar.

Both sexes possess masculine and feminine traits, but it’s society that develops our biases around what’s appropriate or who we should be.

In the episode, we talk about how these biases affect relationships and leadership, and Christoffel’s scientifically-backed 3 brain theory.

He dives deep into his Head-Heart-Gut approach, including the purpose of each brain and how you can integrate them to make decisions that align with your goals. Plus, he shares the inspiration for his latest book, Relationships? Which Brain is Talking?

Tune in as we break myths, shed biases, and give you advice to flourish both at home and work!

TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE:

  • What’s wrong about the Mars and Venus analogy
  • The impact of socialization on our behavior
  • How to assess and train your three brains
  • Integrating your three brains to use them in harmony
  • How Christoffel helps clients create lasting change

How to be an Accountability Powerhouse10 Oct 202300:29:54

Have you ever had a boss that could never admit they were wrong, and often deflected blame to someone else? Or they just never would confront someone about their behavior or performance, leaving you and others frustrated.

When accountability is embedded into a workplace culture, and those they are following actually lead by example and model that behavior, employees are far more committed, productive, and happy in their job, even when working their butts off during challenging times.

It’s a crucial skill for driving results and meeting organizational goals, and the consequences of not having it can be absolutely detrimental to the morale, output, and overall success of the team, the business, and you.

That’s why I’m once again diving into the topic of accountability and sharing how you as a leader can inspire accountability on your team.

In my work as an executive coach, assessing clients regularly on their performance and effectiveness in their job, many leaders and their employees don’t rate themselves high on accountability.

What this tells me is that accountability isn’t being modeled by leaders, and teams are lacking trust and transparency with those around them.

Without a foundation of trust, it’s hard to communicate, resolve conflict, and grow — in other words, it’s the downfall of a team.

In this episode, I cover what taking personal accountability looks like both as a leader and employee, and the right way to take accountability for your mistakes. I also review the traits and skills leaders need to focus on if they want to establish accountability on their team.

Tune in to learn how you can become an accountability powerhouse!

TOPICS DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE:

  • Defining accountability and why it’s important
  • How to take accountability for your mistakes
  • The consequences of not taking accountability
  • The positive impact of accountability on a team
  • How to build a foundation of trust and accountability
  • What you need as a leader to inspire accountability

Walk the Talk: How to Lead By Example 12 Sep 202300:31:59

As a teenager, did you ever find yourself annoyed when your parents reprimanded you for doing something they themselves do? Has your child ever asked why they have to do a certain task but you don’t have to?

Well, adults also have these same thoughts in business.

When a leader has expectations of their employees, such as showing up to work everyday and getting assignments done on time, but they’re not holding themselves to the same standard, it creates a culture of mistrust and apathy.

Employees won’t feel motivated and inspired to commit to their position or share their ideas in this kind of work environment.

In this episode, I’m focusing on the impact leading by example has on a team and how you can “walk the talk.” This includes setting clear goals, exuding the values you want to instill in your team, and more. I share my tips and strategies to start reaping the benefits of leading by example.

Tune in for my actionable advice to start leading by example every day!

How to Rise, Fall, and Rise Again14 Mar 202300:31:24

Episode 326 - “Through losing everything, I found everything.”

After decades of climbing the corporate ladder, I had a wake up call that changed my entire life. What happened next was a journey of self-discovery that led me to write my book, Shedding the Corporate Bitch.

I spent years chasing after accolades and power that had turned me into someone I didn’t recognize. In this episode, I share what I learned about myself and business after losing the job that had taken over my life, including how to be an effective leader and the importance of authenticity. Listen to the end to take my test to evaluate yourself as a leader, and then use your answers to take action towards change!

It’s been 12 years since I wrote my book, but the lessons are still relevant and important. Tune in as I reflect on them, and offer up more advice for female leaders!
