I’m thrilled to bring you a conversation with Ricardo Miranda, CEO of MTHFRdoctors.com, where we get to nerd out about the MTHFR gene and how much it affects different functions in the body. We dive deep into MTHFR gene mutations, and its significant impact on health conditions like thyroid disease, anxiety, cortisol, and detoxification issues.

We discuss how these MTHFR genetic mutations can be tested, what the results might mean for your health, and practical steps you can take to support your methylation process.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or are dealing with symptoms like anxiety, brain fog, or insomnia, or simply want to understand your genetic blueprint better, this episode is packed with in-depth explanations behind the correlation between methylation, detoxification, and gene expression.

Ep. 15 American Life Destroys the Gut with Kimberly Kaye23 Jun 202000:54:58

Every woman in my practice has a messed up gut - whether it presents itself as GI upset symptoms like constipation, diarrhea, acid reflux, pain, bloating, gas or equally as often, it presents as a downstream symptom like migraines, brain fog, joint paint, heavy menstrual cycles, autoimmunity, insulin resistance and weight gain.

Gut health is the root cause of many symptoms and diseases - to discuss this insane interplay I've invited none other than Kimberly Kaye onto the show. As a survivor of a deadly chronic illness she is truly a walking example of how integrative nutrition and functional medicine can reverse even the most dire situations.

Ep. 14 Addressing PCOS With Dr. Gersh16 Jun 202000:56:37

10% of ALL women have PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It is the most common female endocrine disorder and the #1 cause of infertility. Once a woman has PCOS it can set off a cascade of issues - NOT JUST REPRODUCTIVE.

This syndrome can cause acne, obesity, diabetes, autoimmune disease and heart disease. There is A LOT of mis-information, over medication and lack of education about PCOS which is why I asked Dr. Felice Gersh to come talk to you about it.

Dr. Gersh is quite literally one of a kind, as a fellowship-trained, double board-certified Integrative OB-GYN. She uses the best of lifestyle, nutrition, targeted supplementation, acupuncture, massage, IV therapies, mind body medicine and exercise in her practice.

We are both THRIVING and now teaching others how to thrive even when you’ve been told, “You will have this forever, there’s nothing you can do about it”. If you’ve been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and are interested in lifestyle interventions THIS IS YOUR EPISODE.

Ep. 8 Self Love & Self Compassion: A Key to Healing with Shawn Mynar05 May 202000:55:08

“I thought self-love was all bubble baths & face masks - something indulgent and egotistical – then I realized it could save my life” – 34 yr old Female w/ PCOS & Hashimoto’s.

We live in a society that doesn’t place a lot of stock in learning how to love ourselves or what that could mean for our physical bodies & the other people in our lives.

With the pandemic still affecting most women around the world, I’ve seen an uptick with women in my community experiencing a lack of self-love and self-compassion. It has been replaced with feelings of worry, fear, guilt and a lot of “should have’s”. I’ve seen an uptick in health related issues too - not just Corona Virus – but insomnia, digestive issues, menstrual cycle issues, anxiety and so on.

Our guest on this episode is a nutritionist turned mindset coach, whose own serious health battle lead her to explore how the mind can be a crucial component in healing the body. Tune in to learn how to leverage the mind for your healing.

Luckily, there is a system in the body we can hack to give our bodies a fighting chance and to stay calm even when the world is spinning. Tune in to learn how to do just that from Jodi Sternoff Cohen, Founder of Vibrant Blue Oils.

Ep 104: How Food Psychology Can Improve Our Relationship with Food with Jiordana Sadde27 Jun 202400:39:59

In today's episode of the SHE Talks Health podcast, we’re getting to the bottom of why weight struggles aren’t always about the things we’re eating. I know so many of us struggle with our relationship with food and our bodies. If you've ever felt frustrated, confused, or even hopeless about your eating habits or weight, this episode will offer you some hope and understanding.

I'm thrilled to share my conversation with the incredible Jiordana Sadde, a clinical nutritionist and food psychology expert who knows just how hard our relationship with food can be at times. During our conversation, Jiordana shares her experience with childhood obesity and eating disorders and how she finally found true peace with food.

She helps us understand that our struggles aren't our fault — they often stem from subconscious programming that started in childhood. You'll learn why simply knowing what's "healthy" often isn't enough to change our behaviors, and how our thoughts and emotions profoundly impact our body's response to food. Jiordana's insights might just help you see your relationship with food in a whole new light.

I hope this conversation offers you some comfort and practical steps forward if you’re struggling with food noise, limiting beliefs around food, self-sabotage, or anything that’s keeping you stuck in a frustrating cycle. Remember, your worth is not tied to your weight or what you eat. You deserve peace and freedom around food, and Jiordana is proof that it is possible.

Ep. 3 How Women Can Eat for Their Hormone Cycle with Dr. Beth Westie31 Mar 202000:55:51

Most women are unaware that they have the opportunity to use nutrition and their hormone cycle to their advantage.

As cycling females, our hormones shift and change throughout the month, and therefore our nutrition should too. In order to support this shift we need to match nutrition to the dominant hormone during each phase. For example, when estrogen is dominant our basal body temperature is lower, so we want to consume more cooling foods to support this. Whereas during the progesterone phase our basal body temperature is higher, so we want to consume warming foods to support this.

Altering our nutrition this way, we are able to help address some of the challenges associated with hormone imbalance.

Ep 102: How Nutrivore is Setting the Record Straight About Dieting with Dr. Sarah Ballantyne31 May 202400:54:26

Are you frustrated with diets that restrict foods and leave you feeling deprived? What if I told you there's a way to eat that focuses on getting all the essential nutrients you need without cutting out entire food groups? My guest today, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, is about to reverse everything you thought about eating with her approach called "Nutrivore."

In our conversation, Dr. Sarah dismantles diet dogma and explains why restrictive eating can actually lead to nutrient deficiencies that increase disease risk over time. You'll learn about her "Nutrivore" philosophy that prioritizes nutrient density and sufficiency from all foods rather than demonizing and eliminating certain foods from the diet. She shares practical tools like the "Nutrivore Score" to easily identify nutrient-dense food choices and the "Nutrient Meal Map" for composing balanced, nourishing plates.

Dr. Sarah gets candid about the downfalls of diet culture, including how fear-based marketing perpetuates food myths and restrictive mindsets. Join us to discover why nutrient insufficiency is so widespread and the systemic barriers making it difficult for many to access truly nourishing foods. Whether you have an autoimmune condition, want to optimize your health, or are just sick of restrictive diets, this episode will open your eyes to a flexible, scientifically grounded way of eating for life.

Ep. 101 The Mind-Body Connection to Metabolic Health with Jenn Trepeck16 May 202400:50:41

If you’ve ever struggled with your metabolism, hunger, cravings, unpredictable weight gain, or basically anything that is related to diet culture, this episode is for you. This week, Jenn Trepeck is joining me to discuss the mind-body connection to our metabolic health and how we can eat to fully support our emotional and physical well-being through food.

We get into how protein and fiber eaten together work wonders for our metabolic health so that we don’t experience such intense swings in our insulin, which can impact our mood, cravings, weight, and so much more. She also tells us how diet culture has given us a lot of unhealthy (and inaccurate) ideas about how we should eat and exercise. The good news — it’s not as complicated to eat well and take care of our bodies as diet culture makes us think.

By balancing our diet with enough protein and fiber, plus incorporating low impact strength training exercises into our lifestyle, we’re supporting all aspects of our health — especially our thyroids and metabolic functions.

This episode is packed with great information and advice for how we can support the full picture of our health with a few simple steps. And the best part is that there are no extremes here — it’s all part of an intuitive and sensible way of living.

To help celebrate our 100th episode, we’re offering $100 off a discovery call with Sophie to learn about the areas of your health you should focus on. Book here! Offer ends 5/31

Ep 100: Moving Through a PTSD Flare Through Subconscious Reprogramming with Carly Loewenthal02 May 202400:30:33

This week, I'm joined by my dear friend and colleague, Carly Loewenthal, to discuss the often overlooked mental and emotional side of healing.

To demonstrate, I open up about a very personal experience where getting "glutened" triggered a traumatic flashback for me. With Carly's guidance through subconscious reprogramming, I was able to release this trigger and experience profound shifts like being able to sleep through the night again and even share a bed with my husband, which had become challenging.

We dive deep into the power of subconscious reprogramming — a tool that helps rewire limiting beliefs and patterns holding you back from being your most authentic self. Carly, a certified life coach and functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, explains how this work allows you to break free from self-imposed limitations and see new possibilities.

This episode demonstrates how addressing the mental-emotional layers is key for true, lasting healing. You'll learn practical tips on getting grounded during dysregulation and using your imagination to rewrite past experiences lacking resolution.

Whether you're struggling with chronic health issues, anxiety, people-pleasing tendencies or more, this work can empower you to make transformative changes. We invite you to keep an open mind and tune in to learn how subconscious reprogramming could be a game-changer on your healing journey.

🌟To help celebrate our 100th episode, we’re offering $100 off out Thyroid Health Breakthrough call with Sophie to learn about the areas of your health you should focus on. Offer ends 5/31. Book here!

Ep. 99 What Glucose Tells Us About Our Health and Wellness with Emily Johnson18 Apr 202400:51:05

If you’ve ever eaten a meal and felt immediately drained, fatigued, or brain-fogged, you also probably wondered why those foods made you feel that way — and you’re not alone. Foods affect people so differently, and one of the clearest disparities is in how our blood sugar responds to our lifestyle choices.

With continuous glucose monitoring, it’s easy to get an objective look at our overall health through the lens of our blood sugar. Get too little sleep, and you might notice your blood sugar responding to that. Eat too many carbs without some protein or fat, and you might be spiking more than usual.

It can also help us avoid chronic health issues like insulin resistance (pre-diabetes) and diabetes, or give us insight into how glucose affects autoimmune conditions and other health issues we’re already facing.

No matter what the reason, continuous glucose monitoring gives us valuable information about our health that can help us make informed choices about our diet, sleep, and exercise habits that can keep our overall health and wellness at its peak.

Join me in welcoming Emily Johnson of Veri to learn more about continuous glucose monitoring and how glucose plays a role in every part of our wellbeing.

Ep. 98: What To Do When You Get “Glutened” with Sophie Shepherd28 Mar 202400:18:14

If you have a gluten sensitivity or allergy, you probably are familiar with the less-than-ideal scenario of getting “glutened.” It’s a term I started using to describe when you unsuspectingly ingest gluten and are now in for inevitable symptoms and reactions to what just happened.

When you get glutened, your body will have both a physical and emotional response to it. You might get gluten brain fog, fatigue, digestive inflammation, headaches, and more. But aside from the physical response, it can send you through a whirlwind of emotions like frustration, anxiety, and overall catastrophizing.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. In this episode, I’m recounting a recent moment when I got glutened and didn’t have my usual defense mechanisms on hand to cope. Instead, I doubled-down on managing my emotional response, which allowed me take clearer action to take care of my body.

You’ll learn how I use breathwork, co-regulation, tapping techniques for emotional regulation, and other emotional regulation tools to prevent a bad situation from spiraling into something worse. So if you have a gluten allergy or sensitivity, or could just use some extra stress relief tips, this episode will cover how I manage it, and how you can, too.

Ep. 97 How Inner Child Work Can Help With C-PTSD and Emotional Patterns with Zelina Chinwoh14 Mar 202400:43:16

Everybody has patterns that are part of their programming. They determine how you show up in the world, interact with others, and even make big life decisions. But what most people don’t realize is that these patterns don’t have to control you.

When you become aware of the subconscious patterns and programming that drive you to do what you do, you can regain control over your life and make informed decisions that you are consciously aware of.

Through inner child work and getting to the root cause of trauma, you can begin addressing patterns that are rooted in people-pleasing, perfectionism, or fear. Whether you have old trauma that was rooted in abuse or neglect or some patterns that are no longer serving you coming from childhood or family expectations, inner child work is a great way to begin conscious healing.

Zelina Chinwoh shares with us how we can begin healing from perfectionism, people-pleasing, loneliness, voicelessness, and other subconscious patterns that are rooted in our childhood experiences. When we make the subconscious conscious, we open ourselves up to a world of patience, empathy, growth, and gratitude.

Ep. 96 How Troscriptions and Methylene Blue Help Restore the Foundations of Health with Dr. Scott Sherr29 Feb 202400:49:56

With chronic illness and autoimmune disease on the rise, it’s more important than ever to look out for our health. The key to this is in health optimization medicine that focuses on building back the foundations of health that are often lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Sleep, hydration, movement, and connection are among a few of the foundations of health that, when cared for regularly, will keep our overall health in check and ensure we can live our lives as healthily as possible. But when our lifestyle doesn’t support these foundations, what can we do.

Dr. Scott Sherr, a board-certified internal medicine physician, developed a solution that will help keep the foundations of health in check while we work on improving our lifestyles incrementally to optimize our health. His company, Troscriptions, created troches (lozenges) that have different purposes to help with adrenaline reduction, immune system optimization, stress relief, mitochondrial stress, and improve nervous system dysregulation.

In this episode, he explains how he got the idea to start this company and the research behind their product that starts with mitochondrial function restoration. If you’re ready to get back to optimal health and love hearing the science behind the solutions, this episode is for you.

Ep. 113: Thyroid Thursday #1 — Can You Reverse Hashimoto’s and How Do Parasites Affect Thyroid Health?16 Jan 202500:27:01

I'm super excited to introduce a new segment to the podcast — Thyroid Thursdays! Today, we're diving into two key questions I've been getting a lot in my practice, particularly from women dealing with Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism.

The first question we tackle: Is it possible to reverse Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism, and what does that journey look like? I'll be sharing my personal thoughts, experiences, and the approach needed to manage and potentially reverse these conditions effectively.

Our second topic of the day is about parasites and their connection to thyroid health. I'll share how to identify and address parasites, the right way to go about treatment, and how this can impact your overall thyroid function.

If you have a question you’d like me to discuss on the next Thyroid Thursday, please email me at podcast@shetalkshealth.com or sophie@shetalkshealth.com or DM me on Instagram @shetalkshealth. Enjoy this short and sweet episode of Thyroid Thursday!

Ep. 95 I Never Intended to Have a Podcast (and why I decided to relaunch it)15 Feb 202400:34:34

Why did I take a break and relaunch the podcast? That’s a great question! And I’m here to answer it with the help of my amazing support system who came to celebrate the SHE Talks Health podcast relaunch with me a few weeks ago!

I never intended to have a women’s health podcast, but during the pandemic, this world opened up to me and allowed me to share my message and story with the world. Millions of women struggle with under-diagnosed health issues, and I was one of them. In my early 20s, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s, but only after a long and frustrating experience with the medical system.

Fast-forward to today, I’ve helped many women work through their unexplained health issues, find answers, and finally have the tools for healing that functional medicine can provide. I’ve learned how to help clients address more than just their physical health but to improve their emotional and spiritual well-being, too.

My goal is to get this podcast out to as many women as I can all over the world so they can find the healing and answers they deserve to have. So I hope you join me for the new and improved SHE Talks Health Podcast! I’m happy to have you here.

Ep. 94 The Benefits of Near Infrared Light Therapy with Brian Richards01 Feb 202400:45:37

Our bodies have always used the sun to convert light into energy for movement, healing, and restoration. With the increased prevalence of blue light devices in our everyday lives and more indoor-centric lifestyles, it’s becoming harder and harder to get the benefits from the sun that used to come to us naturally.

So how can we heal and restore our bodies if we can’t get enough benefits from naturally occurring infrared light? Brian Richards from Sauna Space has one solution. He created a technology that combines the detoxifying benefits of a sauna, with the restorative benefits of near-infrared (NIR) light therapy. When combined, these two therapeutic methods can bring powerful benefits into our bodies, going as deep as our individual cells.

When using sauna therapy combined with near-infrared light, your body can heal and detox naturally to help bring brain fog relief, ease symptoms of depression and mood disorders, detox free radicals, reset circadian rhythms, and more.

Join us to learn how the near-infrared light therapy benefits can help you on your path to healing and restoration and discover the mental health benefits that combining sweat-light therapy can bring almost immediately.

Ep. 93 Getting Acquainted with Every Part of You in Somatic Work with Patrick Murphy17 Jan 202401:00:56

If you’ve ever experienced overwhelm or anxiety in a heated moment, you’re not alone. It can be hard to self-regulate emotions when tensions are high, but if we don’t, it can get stored in the body as trauma.

Luckily, there’s an answer to reducing anxiety that isn’t very commonly known — somatic work. Somatic work helps us name all the parts of ourselves that have a voice that’s begging to be heard. It’s a way to build self-trust, self-regulate emotions, and embody our higher self to reduce anxiety and release trapped emotions.

With the help of Patrick Murphy, this episode will teach you about somatic exercises and different forms of trauma release work like EMDR therapy and give you a somatic work quick start that will get you out of your head and trusting yourself again in no time. It’s not a miracle quick-fix, but it is a mental wellbeing practice that could be the answer that talk therapy or other mental health exercises haven’t been able to provide for you before.

Ep. 92 Supporting Hashimoto’s with Strength Training and a High Protein Diet with Dr. Emily Kiberd16 Jan 202400:41:06

We’re used to hearing that whenever we’re injured, rest is the best solution for getting back on our feet as quickly and safely as possible. But what if you have a thyroid condition that’s often combined with hypermobility?

If you’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition or suspect you might have one, you might notice that yoga, pilates, and other low-impact stretching style workouts still leave you in pain, yet no more flexible or toned than before. This is because you’re not exercising for Hashimoto’s or hypothyroidism.

In this episode, we’ll explore how to safely exercise with Hashimoto’s or other thyroid conditions that can contribute to more frequent injury. We’ll also discuss what a healthy thyroid diet looks like and why it’s so important to build muscle with Hashimoto’s.

Finally, we’ll get into how mold toxicity can mimic Hashimoto’s symptoms and how to test for it in your home properly before you drop thousands on a mold inspector.

Ep. 91 The Time I Fired My Doctor15 Jan 202400:19:49

I fired my doctor. I know that sounds intense, but it’s true. And it was necessary to take the next step in my thyroid healing journey.

It all started around 10 years ago when I was in my 20s and started experiencing symptoms of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s. I went to my doctor, got tests done, and promptly went on medication, which helped for a while. But when it stopped working, that’s when I took my healing journey into my own hands.

This is where I discovered functional medicine and found someone who truly listened to my health concerns and took all of my symptoms into account. From there, I started to actually heal my thyroid problems and learn all about the mind-body connection that can sometimes leave us sick and trapped in cycles we aren’t aware of.

And thanks to all of this, I’ve started my own business (and podcast) teaching women how to heal their thyroids through a variety of treatments for both the mind and body. This is where this podcast relaunch begins, and I hope you’ll join me as I share more stories and bring you more guests who are experts in these subjects.

Ep. 90 Six Lessons From Six Years of Coaching13 Jul 202300:29:43

I can’t believe it’s already been 6 years since starting my coaching and functional medicine practice! It’s been an honor getting to serve so many amazing clients and bring women knowledge about themselves and their bodies that isn’t often shared in the medical industry.

This week, I’m reflecting on the core 6 things I’ve learned since starting my business. We’re going back to the basics and reviewing some of the simplest things you can focus on today to improve your health and build a solid foundation to start taking care of yourself a little better.

It’s often the simplest things that are so easily overlooked, so it’s important to go back and review some of the root causes and root solutions of any dis-ease or pain within the body. Ep. 89 I Have Low Progesterone, Now What?15 Jun 202300:29:36

This week, we’re deep-diving into another topic for a solo episode — low progesterone. As I’ve discussed in previous episodes, low progesterone is linked very closely with estrogen dominance. A lot of the symptoms are related, and the treatments can be similar. So let’s dive in!

Today, I’ll teach you how to recognize the signs and symptoms of low progesterone, and how easy it can be to start treating the symptoms almost immediately. As scary as something like low progesterone might sound, it can often be treated easily with some dedication and lifestyle changes.

So don’t stress! — because that’s one of the major triggers of low progesterone. Just sit back and take some notes so you know what to look out for and how to find answers if you’re ever experiencing any of the symptoms.

Ep. 87 Taking Control Over Multiple Sclerosis Naturally with Alissa Frazier18 May 202300:45:30

Like many autoimmune conditions, we have a lot to learn about how they start, how to manage symptoms, and especially how to treat them. Luckily, there are a ton of people in the world looking for their own answers and finding some rays of hope for themselves and others.

One of these people is Alissa Frazier, founder of Liss MS, who used her MS diagnosis as a wake-up call and refused to accept medication as the final answer for her treatment. Now, she works with other women to help get to the root of their MS and autoimmune conditions to not only manage symptoms but to also find continued relief through manageable lifestyle changes on top of traditional treatment.

Her story begins like many others who struggle with autoimmune conditions, and now she’s harnessing the knowledge she’s gained over the past almost 15 years to empower other women to look beyond medication to find relief. From diet changes to addressing past trauma, Alissa will teach us just a few of her approaches to helping women with MS.

Ep. 85 Adding Resources to Your Period Pain Toolkit with Mimi Millard20 Apr 202300:51:13

Join me and the co-founder of De Lune, Mimi Millard, to discuss how she was inspired to begin on her journey to finding holistic, natural period pain solutions.

Growing up, Mimi struggled with intense period pain beyond what traditional painkillers were designed to help with. Fed up with missing school and being in debilitating pain every month, she started doing her own research about natural remedies for period pain.

Now, she helps tons of women naturally relieve period pain and manage their moods in a holistic way. De Lune’s products have been proven to not only work as well as traditional painkillers, but with fewer side effects. They can also be combined with traditional painkillers as an added boost of pain relief.

In this episode, we’re talking about how Mimi was inspired to create her natural products, the societal pressures on women to “power through” their pain, and how De Lune can be another tool in your toolkit for getting one step closer to pain-free periods.

Ep. 84 Managing Pelvic Floor Health and Chronic Pain with Sami Hobbs06 Apr 202300:51:37

This week, I’m sitting down with my best friend, Sami Hobbs, to talk about her struggle and journey to healing from chronic pain due to endometriosis and vaginismus (vulvodynia). Sami is the founder of Your Inner Wisdom, a holistic business mentor, empowerment photographer, and self-development retreat host.

Before Sami began her 7-year journey to fixing her chronic pain, she felt a lot of shame around sex, intimacy, and sexual health. She knew from a young age that something wasn’t quite right in her body, but it took a lot of courage to be open with doctors about her pain. Because of her pain, she experienced a lot of dissociation and began doing numbing behaviors like bingeing to escape it. Luckily, she had doctors who took her seriously and eventually diagnosed her with endometriosis and vaginismus.

Fast forward to today, Sami has done a ton of work both physically and mentally to get to the root of her pain and begin feeling relief. She’s worked hard on getting out of fight or flight and feeling safe in her body once again, which has been a huge boost to the physical work she’s done with her doctor for her vaginismus.

If you’re curious about pelvic floor health or are experiencing similar issues and want to learn more about how to begin finding relief for yourself, listen to Sami’s amazing story and first-hand tips from how she approached her healing process.

Ep. 83 Getting to the Bottom of Testosterone Excess23 Mar 202300:28:31

When our body is unable to regulate itself properly, we often see a cascade of issues that are linked to other more serious health problems. This is the case for testosterone excess, which is  brought on by certain lifestyle factors, gut microbiome issues, stress, and more.

If we can’t process our hormones normally, it can lead to other more serious health issues such as insulin resistance, hyper- or hypothyroidism, PCOS, hair loss, and obesity. In this episode, I’m getting to the bottom of testosterone excess and what we can do to support our body in relearning to process this hormone properly.

With a few tests, some dietary and supplemental shifts, and a few other lifestyle tweaks, we can often identify, and eventually reverse, the symptoms of testosterone excess that might be throwing your body out of balance. Tune in to learn how we can help and where to start if you suspect you might have this hormonal imbalance.

Ep. 82 How Your Genetics Affect Estrogen Dominance, Histamine, and Anxiety with Dr. Hailey Arnold09 Mar 202300:39:28

Our genetics have more of a role in our mental, physical, and emotional health than previously thought. They determine how our bodies metabolize certain foods and micronutrients, as well as which hormones in our bodies might be higher or lower than “normal.”

Dr. Hailey Arnold, founder of DNA RX has sought to find answers to our most pressing questions through genetic testing. What type of diet we should be on, why certain people can’t metabolize gluten as well as others, and why some of us have anxiety and others don’t. These are all questions that can begin to be answered through genetic testing.

In this episode, we’re nerding out about how Dr. Hailey got into genetic testing as her career path, why genetics are the blueprint to our bodies, and which genes are some of the most prominent indicators of how our bodies function.

If you’ve ever wondered why you might not handle carbs as well as others, or why your body doesn’t react to dietary changes how you might expect it to, don’t miss this deep dive into how our genetics guide our health and bodily functions!

Ep. 81 Supporting Magnesium for PMS, Blood Sugar and Muscle Pain23 Feb 202300:14:59

This week, I’m continuing to talk about the minerals that are so important to our energy levels and cellular health. Our focus in this episode is on magnesium and how it supports thousands of different bodily processes.

Magnesium is a mineral that used to be abundant by eating vegetables and other produce, but due to our modern agricultural practices, it’s much harder to come by naturally in our diet these days. If we don’t get enough magnesium, it can have an impact on our entire body. It can affect our adrenal system, sleep cycles, menstrual cycles, blood sugar regulation, and so much more.

That’s why it’s important to know the signs of possible mineral deficiencies and how to test for them so you can start making a game plan for reversing the side effects. If you feel like you’re affected by chronic fatigue, muscle aches, depression, stress, and more, it could be as easy as identifying a magnesium deficiency to start feeling more like yourself again!

Ep. 79 Optimizing Sodium and Potassium for Energy26 Jan 202300:22:32

It might come as a shock, but did you know that low sodium is more common than you might think? We’re often told that we should watch our sodium intake to prevent hypertension as we get older, but when we go too far in the other direction, other problems can arise.

Couple that with low potassium intake, and you’re looking at having low energy, fatigue, adrenal issues, and quite a few other symptoms that are easily reversible with a few tweaks to our diet.

If you’ve ever noticed that having an extra cup of coffee is just not enough to keep you from having an afternoon crash, this episode might give you some clues as to what could be causing it. I’ll cover why sodium and potassium work together to give our muscles energy, how chronic fatigue can lead to long-term issues, and some easy tweaks we can make to our diet and lifestyle to give us that boost we need to feel at our optimum energy levels.

Ep. 78 EMF and its Effects on the Endocrine System with R Blank12 Jan 202300:47:21

Since the evolution of electricity and the power grid, humans have been exposed to harmful electromagnetic fields, or EMFs, almost nonstop. As technology has progressed, it has been increasingly difficult to free ourselves from this harmful radiation and set boundaries around when we interact with it.

This week, I’m talking with R Blank, the CEO of Shield Your Body, to discuss how EMFs became so prevalent in the world today, the negative impact that has had on our bodies, cells, and DNA, and how we can set healthier boundaries around technology so that we can reduce our exposure to harmful EMFs.

R and his company have been featured on Dr. Phil, ABC, Inc. Magazine, and even more to spread the word about protecting ourselves from EMFs and living healthier lives by educating ourselves about our everyday surroundings.
