Healing Meditation: Seek Less, Create More - A Meditative Journey Into The Unconditional Heart26 Dec 202000:18:59

The journey to becoming self-empowered begins by introducing the concept of Seekless - a way of living that invites you to trust in your own power to heal and nourish yourself, as well as create a remembrance to all the tools you have within you to navigate your life without seeking validation, purpose and love from the external world.

This is an 18-minute guided meditation practice & poetic insight that will help you discover the heart-centre of all your desires.

This year in one word - and how to remember your indivisible wholeness28 Dec 202300:07:25

This episode is taken from my last free newsletter of 2023! The original voiceover can be found on my SUBSTACK, along with the transcript and a poll I've put forward to all listeners.

You don’t need to be free of your ache in order to be free. This is what this year has helped me see and I hope it can be of use to you as you navigate this path back home to peace, love and freedom.

Remembering Wild - A compilation of soulful messages21 Mar 202300:05:18

Hello dear listeners. Simplifying life is a way of returning to the roots of your being, and in this pursuit to live more intentionally, I have left social media to concentrate on offering new poetry, meditations and courses on Substack.

My time is spent here now, so I hope you will join me (think less 'attention deficit blackhole' and more 'intentional infinite space'!) Nourishing content is sent to your private email space on a weekly basis.

For now, here are some clips I've put together from the new private podcast, called Sit With Sez which I send out every Monday. I love being a part of your journey and look forward to connecting with you and any questions you have in the comments!

The Well Within - Finding the answers you seek within yourself06 Sep 202200:02:21

A poem to help you discover yourself without the external noise that bombards us every moment. We often seek answers through this stream of information, but it tends to not make us feel like we are healed or whole, and often causes a rift between where we are in our lives right now and where we wish ourselves to be. What if we listened more attentively to the well of wisdom we already hold within us? What would bubble up from that space if left undammed?

The Cave of Trauma - Symbolic Story for Emotional Healing17 Aug 202200:08:05

Those of us who have been traumatized often find ourselves shut inside protective caves that sever us from our feeling body. Returning to who we are, therefore, means leaving what we know - those coping strategies (caves) - that no longer serve us. Finding our way back home to our soft mammal of a body means giving up the reptile within that keeps us perpetually in fight/flight/freeze mode. I hope this helps you with whatever you are going through right now, Sez

Nature has an alliance with the Great Mystery and is therefore guided, healed & grown in accordance with that trust. Why do we consider ourselves separate from that same companionship when we ARE nature? This is a 3-minute poem about how nature never gives up on itself & how that seed is planted within us too. I hope it offers relief to those currently in doubt of their spiritual progress. Thank you so much to all who listen, comment, donate & share. You are the reason this work exists.

Self-improvement vs. Healing - a guided meditation05 Apr 202200:31:30

Can the medicine, offered to ourselves in the midst of ache, be that which keeps us searching for a cure? Can the voices that encourage us to feel differently than we do, be better than we are in that moment - be what’s keeping us oscillating between self-healing and perpetual self-wounding.

15 minute talk - 12 minute guided meditation - end notes.

Allow earth to yawn open and devour you whole or salt to carry your body across its foamy shoulders and rest in the knowing that you are being cared for. Your body will be balmed in honey and butter will be dripped over heart, tobacco and cornflour cast at your feet, the crown of your head wrapped in laurels and red powder blown across your face. And as you make sacred of nature, so does she make sacred of you. Reciprocity.

All Hearts have a purpose right now01 Mar 202200:01:15

It’s an old paradigm to try and cure suffering with suffering. This we all know. On both an individual level and a global one.

So if you are feeling fear right now, that’s so ok - but an exasperated sense of it might not be serving you, your community, or the collective consciousness we are trying to raise.

We need feet on earth, strong backs, and open hearts willing to both hold - and spill out Love.

Because all hearts have a purpose right now.

The Immortality of our Words - How we can use our voice to touch people centuries from now03 Feb 202200:02:51

We have all been touched by the words, acts. and art of those who have long passed. But something we might not have thought about is what we can do *right now* to benefit the life of someone we will never meet. Social media is immortalizing our lives, our words, and who we were - what do our feeds speak to? How do we extend our own hearts beyond the fragility of our form and how would we live differently if everything we did was a seed for a future lost soul? Thank you for listening, sharing, or simply being present with these words! Sez

Authentic Living - Your wound is wild place04 Nov 202100:02:09

Our greatest regret in life is most likely going to be that we never made our lives our own: that we lived according to what others expected of us and never walked off into the wild unknown to find what authenticity tasted like.

We have wounds created by contorting our bodies, our lives, and our work into shapes that are not truly our own.

And so we walk, often until our last breath, in lives not big enough, not nourishing enough, not free enough…

And so we come to believe that it is US that is not enough, not the lives we’ve tried to shoehorn ourselves into.

Acts of the untamed

to reclaim our autonomy

are brave and bold

and should only be attempted

by those who are willing

to swim against the current

and face possibly even more resistance

before they break open into the free.

But the more you reclaim those parts of you that were exchanged under domestication, the more this wound will become a salvation, a guidance, a way of living…

Wounds are puzzle pieces longing for your wild to fit into them - and make whole what feels most ruptured.

Because the wound needs what it needs.

The heart needs what it needs.

You need what you need.

Never shed your fur for anyone.

____

QUESTIONS YOU MAY WISH TO ASK YOURSELF:

Where have you told yourself, it's ok -

I don’t need what I need - I’ll be ok with a substitute?

Where have you had to give up a fundamental piece of yourself and called it love?

Where have you tried to be good - the good parent, the good partner, the good worker, the good seeker…

Where has ‘being good’ become detrimental to your soul?

what is the shape of your wound? And what does it require of you?

For when you feel overwhelmed by life's responsibilities29 Sep 202100:01:55

Short remedial poem to help you connect to you heart & soul with @sez.kristiansen

The new free 7-day course is up and you can start today via www.sezkristiansen.com/wholeinthebody

:::::::::::::

What if we saw all our unwanted situations, emotions, and circumstances this way? What if we could climb through the secret window of our own lives and deal with difficulties from a more calm, grounded, and peaceful room in our minds? Would we not then be able to invite each demanding emotion, each pending responsibility, each expectant relationship in our life to sit with us for a moment?

Rather than feel overwhelmed by the noise coming from outside of us, we could prepare ourselves a little every day to meet with those demands - and one by one, listen and tend to them as an individual. I believe all pain, challenges, and losses wish to be met by the fireside of Love - it is your warmth they are after. And that doesn't mean you set up a spare room for them to stay as long as they like - remember it's your home, your body, your heart, your mind - but if they are welcomed, they will not break your doors down ;)

You don’t have to walk back into your life

through the front door.

You can slip through the hedge

and climb up the ivy

that has overgrown the small

window around the back.

It’s always ajar -

cracked open to let the light in

and to allow the damp darkness

to find its way out.

You can crawl between the paint-flecked panes

and let yourself into your own home

while the guests and visitors clamber against your door;

their needs and pains

splintering timber with their weight.

And when you have found yourself

a place upon the floorboards

that is quiet and still -

you can take off your shoes

and have your tea,

and rest for a while.

And only when you are ready -

can you invite each guest,

each responsibility,

each seeker of your attention,

to sit beside you.

And one by one,

they can drink their tea

and spill their words in your company.

And one by one,

you can offer them time

to be seen and heard and felt.

And one by one,

they can leave again

knowing that they are not

the owner of this home

but merely a seeker of its warmth.

You do not need to let them all in,

nor fight your way through -

you can take your time,

you can bare your feet,

you can drink your tea

and only when you feel ready -

is each allowed a moment of your time.

//// TODAY ////

We have come to misunderstand

the narrative of our emotions.

We believe they say something

about our lack, whereas they

speak honestly and with candor

of our completeness.

 We have confused emotional pain

with unworthiness and it

splinters us off from the value

of our own guidance system.

 Feeling loneliness doesn’t mean

you don’t belong - loneliness asks you

to deepen your relationship with

everything you come into contact with.

 Feeling anxiety doesn’t mean

you are not in control - anxiety asks you

to return to your body and

deeply ground yourself in it.

 Feeling envy doesn’t mean

you are unworthy of what

someone else has - envy tells you that

you are resonating with the manifestation

of what your heart is guiding you towards.

You are whole. Not in spite of your painful emotions –

but very much BECAUSE of them.

//// THIS WEEK ////

The difficulty you're facing right now can either be accepted or it can be allowed. One will leave you overwhelmed and unable to move from the foothills - while the other will help you climb this mountain with grace.

When you accept difficulties in your life, you tell yourself that there’s an unwanted external presence forcing itself upon you without your consent. This belief then contorts the body into defensive postures, using all of its energy to protect you against perceived threats.

What is ‘unwanted' or 'undesirable' causes us emotional and psychological stress – which translates into toughened, inflexible, and protective bodies.

This means that our biography really does become our biology.

But what if we choose to allow instead?

We can allow this difficult moment or emotion to be as it is. It has a right to be here, to teach us what we need to know in order to grow fuller. It might still hurt – but we can allow it our breath and presence. We can allow it to show us its roots so that we can better understand its reason for being here. We can allow ourselves to feel this hurt without needing to fix it. We can allow ourselves to grow softer in its company.

Unwanted guests really are the best teachers.

If we accepted an unwanted guest in our house, we would have little power to make them leave. We would just accept their presence and try to avoid them as best as possible. We might as well accept what we can't change, right?

But if we allowed them to be here...if we invited them to cross the threshold with permission - we could then ask them for a lesson in return. We could create boundaries for them.  And because of this empowered mindset, we would then be able to ask them to leave when it was time.

We can accept the lack of control we currently have – or we can allow this lack of control to show us how to surrender to the greater vision Love has for our life.

For when you feel like you don't belong24 Aug 202100:01:18

You need what you need.

It’s not a matter of worthiness but of giving your body, heart & soul what it needs to stay alive, to stay open, to stay whole.

In fact, the less you excuse your needs, the more you will find yourself.

And once you have created the right environment for who you are - wherever you are right now - you will begin to bloom in ways unfamiliar.

A flower will sprout here, a wound will heal there, a friend will take root over there…all because your energy is not spent fighting or defending your body from your environment.

Never feel shame for the dreams you have, no matter how bold nor how humble they may be. All your desires and needs make you who you are and how your spirit wanted to experience this life.

What environment do you crave today that will help disarm your mind, nourish your soul and mend your heart?

An Ode To Idleness - Permission To Pause30 Jul 202500:03:45

This piece is a gentle ode to idleness—a meditation on the quiet, miraculous fullness found in simply sitting, watching, and being. With the sea as a companion and the sky as a witness, we explore how presence asks nothing of us but attention. In a world that constantly demands productivity, this poem offers permission to pause, to be thoroughly unuseful, and yet feel more whole than ever. Through images of waves, wind, and distant sails, we are reminded that being present with whatever arises can be one of the deepest spiritual 'achievements'.

If this reflection speaks to you, I invite you to journey further in my new course W(hole)ness (on Insight Timer & my website)—a slow, spacious return to the essence of who you are. Thank you for allowing this work to sit with you for a moment, and I look forward to adding more poetry here soon. Much Love, Sez

For when you cannot see through this darkness17 Aug 202100:01:22

You might not be able to see the purpose of everything right now.

And it makes being in this space very dark and unsettling. But if you can create a relationship with one small part of your life - one little object, one simple practice, one small piece of your garden - then, when you step back from your life you will be able to see everything is connected and deeply purposeful.

Just as if you spent time studying the details of a small leaf with only your fingertips, so too would you be able to step back and look at the entire forest to see thousands of leaves with the same intimate qualities.

An intimate and tender relationship with the small will allow you to see the great in everything.

Sometimes just looking at your life with only your eyes can leave you feeling empty and separate from it. Whereas kneeling down and getting into the soil and studying the details of just one beautiful thing in it - can suddenly connect you to something far greater than you ever expected.

For when you wish to escape10 Aug 202100:03:24

The word 'Distraction' has found itself in such a negative light - but it comes from the original meaning, “to draw away from the mind.” Being drawn away from the mind can be a fundamental healing process right now that guides us back to our hearts and returns us to our lives with a very different perspective.

I hope you say ‘yes' to those healthy distractions that draw you away from the mind and into the heart. It’s medicine for these times (not to mention for our creative businesses) where we are all feeling this new sense of exhaustion.

Questions for today:

POEM LYRICS

It Took Me Away

I took a break

for a while.

Not for any reason
other than
I heard the rustle
of a wild bodied
animal in the
dark woods
and decided
to followed it.
And it took me away...

It took me away from what

I knew,

and it took me away

from the place I

had been standing still

for so long in.

It took me away from even

my most meaningful work,

It took me away...

And when I left the woods,

I came across a dragonfly,

I wanted to see my own reflection

in its mosaic wing

so I followed it too,

and it took me away.

It took me away

from myself

and even from the things

I most love,

it took me away...

And when I came across a

heaving field of oats, I wanted

to know why a tree stood in

its center,

and so I followed its furrowed

lines into its core.

And when the berry black

raven perched

high up on the oak's eaves

invited me to follow it,

I willingly said yes -

and it took me away.

It took me away

and weaved me so

tightly around the land

that I began to loosen

my bearings

and before I knew it

I didn’t know my way back

and all I knew was

that I was away.

And when I came to a small

cleft in a rock

where the rainwater pooled

down into the earth,

I followed its trail

and it took me away,

it took me away from the woods,

the raven, and the dragonfly.

It took me away and I kept following

the stream down and down,

away and away

until I stood at the mouth of a

great ocean

and there was nowhere left to go.

But now I was no longer away,

I was here,

in

Dreams are houses we wish to inhabit - A poem20 Jul 202100:01:00

There is a necessary packing away of dreams in one's life that - if done with love and acceptance, can make space for new ways of being in the world.

Because it is our un-lived lives that hurt our loved ones the most - not the ones we are living in right now.

When we are truly present with who we are, what we have, and where we are right now - we are in our greatest power. And that strength doesn't only benefit us on an emotional level, it reaches right down into our cells and changes how we fundamentally carry ourselves through this life.

Most parents know what this feels like - to offer a dream back to the earth that was made long ago and for single-occupancy. But remember there is no loss in anything that is given away in reverence of Love.

Questions you might like to ask yourself:

  • What dream has wandered away from my Heart into my mind?
  • What old dreams do I need to houseclean in order to make space for new and spontaneous ones to arise?
  • If I got closer to my dream every time I became present to the moment, what would my day look like?

These images are of a place I have dreamt about my whole pre-motherhood life. An isolated, self-sustaining permaculture home where I would spend the seasons tending to myself through the land.

But right now, if I were handed that life - I wouldn’t take it. Because right now, I need to switch hemispheres to be with my family. No amount of calendula. echinacea and thyme can compensate for time with loved ones. And in clearing out this dream for now, I will make space for a new kind of inhabitance; the one where I keeping tending to the home within myself and allow a for a new dream to be given life.

May your dreams be given clarity through the inclusion of loved ones.

Why rest is the only place healing can manifest from - healing poetry15 Jul 202100:01:46

We hear the word consistency a lot - in our creative work, our lives, our practice. It’s as if we will lose everything if we step off the consistency treadmill - but we tend to lose ourselves in that binary process.

But what can be manifested from a body consistently comparing itself, stressing itself to meet others' demands and own expectations?

If you feel the weight of that word, and all the success it promises, then remember that consistency originally means ‘to be standing firm' - and you don’t have to lose yourself to that kind of stagnancy.

Instead, remember the word accumulative, meaning ‘to contribute through movement’ and keep adding those small moments of value to your life that move you forward.

Will choosing my Heart make life harder? Demystifying the path of least resistance 06 Jul 202100:19:18

This episode is a little different from the meditations and poetry I usually offer. I sit down in the woodshed with the summer rain pouring down outside and open up a frank conversation with you about why choosing your heart will make your life so much harder....and why that's such a good thing.

Some topics of interest:
2:08 (my story so far...)
5:51 (why returning to your ancestral land might not provide you the belonging you seek)
14:56 (how to tell if you are making the right decision)
15:33 (what 'the path of least resistance' really means)
17:33 (why we should just follow our hearts anyway)

Thanks for listening, for sharing, and for taking some time to yourself today. Sez

Rewilding, a poem - coming home to yourself through nature05 Jul 202100:01:25

I am currently writing a guided meditation about rewilding the body as there seem to be many misconceptions about the word.

Rewilding isn’t about trying to go back to living as hunter-gatherers. Rather, it's about examining our cultural paradigms, seeing how they affect our spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional health.

We don’t have to demonize our culture in order to Rewild ourselves, because urbanization is an aspects of ourselves too. We can however, with awareness, learn what aspects of our modern culture rob us of our basic humanity, our intuition and our freedom.

Using that awareness, we can live in our culture (and ourselves) more courageously, express ourselves more authentically, and live more attuned to the natural forces that help guide us through life.

Some Rewilding questions you might like to ask yourself today!

- What roles don't allow me to walk barefooted in my life? (wife/husband/parent/job role/carer/sister/brother etc.)

- Why can’t I express my wilder Self in these roles?

- What one part of me can I allow to slowly grow wild again in this role? (e.g if you feel overly domesticated in your partnership, can you nurture your need for adventure? Or If your job restricts you in unhealthy ways, how can you speak up for your creative needs more? Is parenthood overwhelming? How can you find more play in this role? How do you feel about your own body? Can you give the ‘farming' of your body a rest and let it blossom in its own beautiful way?)

Much more to come on this topic, so keep finding your wild :)

(SHORT V.) Healing The Stories Our Bodies Tell - Affirmations27 May 202100:13:25

(SHORT VERSION - Affirmations Only)

Trauma is a story unexpressed in your body. Instead of being processed, that pain became consumed and found itself among your flesh. Now this story protects you at all cost – the body has become a soldier against its most destructive response pattern; indirect but perpetual threat. The body is therefore almost always in a state of survival and when you are on the battlefield – there is no time, nor freedom for healing.

But every story can be healed.

We just need to learn how to become the authors of our own bodies.

Listen to these affirmations every morning for 7 days and feel the difference in your body.

______

Dear one,

It will take more than joy and ease to create your ‘Best Self'.

Because the misalignment is part of the alignment, just as the fracture is an integral part of your greater wholeness.

Your future ‘Best Self' is not made up of only goodness.

The best part of her is when she faces the fight, the loss, and the struggle, and chooses to hold herself through it anyway.

Manifestation is desire made into matter and the very nature of desire is to bring life into what has yet a heartbeat.

Desire, and the creation of it, is messy and hard and black in its essence, like what existed before the universe, before the birth of the sun, before you entered the womb.

You will therefore not embody your 'best self' in spite of your struggle - but because of it.

Soul Remedy - 06 - Nature's Mirror20 May 202100:01:48

Dear one,

Old patterns fashion the body.

Some habits weave these limbs so tight, they have closed you off from your Heart.

And when that disconnect restricts you from seeing your true nature…look beyond yourself, your shape, and your body.

For there is a truer mirror to be used.

Take a moment right now, in the room that you’re in, in the space you occupy - and look closer.

The table, once part of a woodland, once a forgotten seed sleeping in the soil, now, here in this room.

The material hugging your skin, once a crop soaked in warmth and nourished by the rains, a thousand strands of sunlight touching your skin.

The food in your belly, grown by mother moon and her seasons, now having a conversation with your body.

The daylight cutting through the window, its glass made of eroded rock and minerals, eroded over millions of years.

Cultivate a closer relationship with everything around you and you will cultivate a more intimate relationship with yourself.

TIPS ON FINDING NATURE’S CONNECTION WHEREVER YOU ARE

- Use a different mirror. When you see something beautiful in nature, remember that that there is an element of yourself being reflected back.

- Connect with your breath, often. Everything alive breathes. Take a deep breath and think about how many other living elements are breathing with you right now.

- Find wholeness in imperfection. Everything in nature is imperfect. Not a single petal, root, wing are the same (often our definition of perfection). Find a marked tree, a leaf-eaten rose, a discolored patch of grass, and notice how the plant grows anyway, never believing in the story of its flaws.

Soul Remedy - 05 - To Love20 May 202100:00:42

Dear one,

Love will heal, once you let go.

Because it is in the holding on to these old stories that you are keeping yourself separate from the life being written by a greater hand.

Abandon, with grace, everything that turns this wheel of perpetual conflict. The one between yourself and others, and the one between you and yourself.

Even if there is anger left, you are holding on.

Even if there is fear left, you are holding on.

Even if there is doubt left, you are still holding on.

Abandon this inner conflict as if you would an old house whose beams and rafters buckle inward, whose floorboards have thinned and splintered, whose warmth seeps out through the gaping cracks and whose body no longer offers a home for your inhabitancy.

And when everything, including yourself, has been abandoned, so is but Love left behind.

Because, Love requires nothing, not even a someone (especially not a someone), to exist within you.

Love is the alkaline that balances life’s acidity into neutrality, chaos into calm, fear into radical acceptance.

And only from acceptance can you stand in the wreckage of your life and begin to rebuild it from Love, because only then are you standing within your true Self.

So go ahead and lose yourself, only to realize that it’s not you that's being let go - but everything else you’re not.

Journal Questions:

- What am I still harboring within myself that has passed and needs to be abandoned now?

- What are my fears surrounding letting non-serving things go?

- How can I practice neutrality more in my daily life and do I have any associations with being detached from my emotional drama?

::::::::::::::::::

Dear one,

Mushrooms have found a fascinating way to create an abundant future to exist within…

Fairy rings (or fungal mycelium) start as a single point and grow outward to form a circular shape. They continue to push outwards in an attempt to consume more nutrients from the surrounding area and when they exhaust the minerals found on the inside of the circle, they widen further and further to find richer food sources.

As these mushrooms grow, the center of the circle becomes a nutrient-depleted zone (a dead zone) where nothing is left to sustain its growth.

The outer ring of the circle is dark green and lush because the roots of the mushrooms are forging the way ahead of themselves and breaking down nutrients in the soil, ready for its future inhabitants.

This incredible process results in an ever-growing circle that never chooses to go back inwards or cross over on itself because it knows that there's no new food source on the inside of the circle.

So too is your future being created beneath the surface right now - by the desire within you that seeks ahead to find more nourishing spaces to nurture your growth.

And as you grow, so too will you leave a greater space within you that contains your past.

And as you grow, so too will you unfurl into the future that has been prepared for you.

Trust in the desire that is pulling you forward and offering greater expansion.
---
What makes sure that your future is a lush and nourishing one?

- Intention - Intentions + consistency = your future. There is no greater nor simpler equation in life. Keep going, keeping creating small, daily intentions.

- Connection - How will you connect with yourself today? What will make you feel most grounded, spacious, and in commune with a greater Love? The more you connect with whatever is Divine to you, the more your future will contain that divinity and offer certainty that everything is working out for your highest evolution.

- Adaptation - Adaptation is not the opposite of manifestation. In fact, it is a prerequisite. Adapt to your current environment as best you can, making sure you changing what you can and surrendering to what you can’t. Remember: we are not here because we are the strongest but because we learned how to adapt.

In gratitude,
Sez

That desert
you are facing
right now
is not validating
how alone
you are,
nor how ‘wrong'
the path you
have chosen is...
It is a vital
landscape that one
meets upon the path
into the unknown
and its wilderness.

And rather
than feeding
yourself on
the sparse
offerings of
this place -

allow your roots to
nourish
and hold
you for a while.

For, as dry and shallow
as this desert
may be,so too
is the well within you
deep and full.

Dear one,

Some plants have developed a surefire way to survive uncertainty by sending roots deep below the surface. These are taproots. It is the first root to appear from the seed and remains the largest, central root of the plant. Desert plants can send roots down more than 75 feet.

This taproot absorbs water and minerals from the earth and serves as a food storage and a reserve. This ability to not rely on the surface makes these plants more self-sufficient and resilient during hard winters and severe drought.

So too have you been gifted a taproot that reaches deep below this surfacery world. It was the first seed of self-sufficiency planted within you that empowers you to survive times that leave you feeling alone, uncertain and vulnerable.

Follow what makes you feel most nourished, most embodied, most connected, and you will be following your taproot inward.

And do not fear the surface life for it does not determine how well you bloom, only your roots have the power to do that.

To emergefrom what hasbeen concealing youis to recognisethat you are already in tact, fully whole, an entity unto yourself - and with enough courage, 'to rise' would mean to pull yourselfup & through the weight that has buried you -but which hasnever separated you from your wholeness.

______

Dear one,

To believe you break under the weight of this world is not so.

To believe that you splinter and fray at your edges, leaving lesser and lesser of you is nothing but an old wound passed down by those who believed more in their brokenness. Beause it’s easier to see your surface-dwelling fault lines than it is to remember the depth and substance of your mantel.

This journey into the ache will end at its core - and once you have met with its centre - so too will you emerge again, passing through to the other side - whole as you’ve always been, only wiser for the encounter.

Poetry Medicine - The Humble Gardener06 May 202100:03:15

How do you really know when it's time to let go of your dream?
To let go of a person?
To let go of a belief?

When it leaves your heart.

This is a 3-minute poem to help you see that you are the gardener of your own life and it is your work to midwife what longs to come into this world and the reaper of what needs to go.

Prompts you may wish to ask yourself after:
- what are the reasons I keep justifying that this idea/dream/person should stay?
- what else could enter my life if I let this/them go?
- what could I spend my emotional energy on instead?

Poetry Medicine - The Container28 Apr 202100:01:46

Your spiritual practice is a container, a thing that encompasses you so that you can become MORE you.

Like salt drawn in a circle around your body, you can become protected in this container – you can become healed in this container – you can spill yourself into this container – and what is contained within this space is you - the 'you' beyond the form - the 'you' that exists within the circle but are not made of it.

What is your daily, sacred practice? And has your dedication created fold-lines within you that you can find easily again or do you find yourself needing motivation to keep at it?

Poetry Medicine - Ancient Emotion16 Apr 202100:01:30

Your emotions have not evolved since you were part of a nomadic, foraging community, thousands of years ago.

And although we have more words to describe how we feel now, our physiological emotions have remained unchanged.

That means, even though our external environment has changed irrevocably in the last thousands of years - our bodies remain wired to an ancient way of living.

Is it any wonder those of us who are highly sensitive or identify with being an Empath find refuge in being closer to the earth?

Is it any wonder we dream of speaking with the unseen world and long to belong to a soul-connecting community?

Is it any wonder we feel exhausted in the loneliness of our parenthood or heartbroken at the abandonment of our elders?

Is it any wonder that we feel disconnected in an era that allows us to be more connected than ever…wanting to be heard in a crowd full of voices and seen in a space where only some faces are celebrated?

Is it any wonder...

Our bodies are calling us back, through emotion, to the remedies that this modern world cannot heal alone.

Poetry Medicine - The Residue In Our Bodies24 Mar 202100:02:33

Our bodies have been through so much this past year. They have been our first line of defence and hold the residue left from all the unpredictable events that struck us into fight, flight or freeze mode.  Our emotional bodies have collected the residue of this storm too. We can all feel it in ourselves, in the way we carry ourselves now and the heaviness we have accumulated.  But remember, it takes time for our bodies to heal - and what matters most is what we left behind.

Story Medicine - Remember The Wildflowers by Sez16 Mar 202100:13:56

This is a story to help get us through these slow and quiet times. It's a true story about my neighbour and their journey through last year. Some context you may like is that I live part-time in a cabin in the wilderness, where only a few people surround our land. The other half of my time is spent in Copenhagen city. Our cabin is located on a UNESCO heritage site and much of the land is wild with deer as frequent visitors.

I hope this story takes you to a place that can help you see through these days with a little hope in your heart.

Poetry Medicine - Hands of Love04 Mar 202100:01:37

Do you feel like you are in a state of perpetual waiting? These are the times we face right now... but could these times be symbolic of the work we are required to learn to love ourselves? To chalk out the pattern of what's inevitably to come?  Things will change, dear soul. They will because that is what life is and although you can't see it right now - the pattern you are working on is creating the skin you will wear in the future. Hold on and keep the faith...all is coming.

Story Medicine - The audiobook introduction chapter!01 Mar 202100:11:22

Listen to the introduction of Story Medicine, the new poetry book in the Soul Skin Series.

You can buy the book here!

This book is dedicated to those who seek a remedy of which this world cannot heal alone.

Story Medicine offers a remedial well of story, prose and poetry that aids every soul-sickness.

Ancient traditions have known the combined power of emotion, nature and story for centuries. They harnessed it through song, myth, fairytale, folklore, archetype and poetry; administering a specific story to a patient whose imbalances could not be understood by the mind alone. Something much more potent was needed for the one who suffered from deep beneath the human bone.

These days, we live in a type of soul-famine from the story medicine that used to nourish and connect us to the greater order of the cosmos - to our place in the natural world and our purpose in the community.

But we still have the ability to self-medicate, and it is equally potent.

These stories have been wildcrafted from the wilderness: the one within and without - the one above and below – the one we live in now and the one our ancestors call us back to through the eaves. They seam the two worlds together to make medicine for deep and restorative healing.

It is said that there is a story remedy for every soul-sickness you experience in your life. All you have to do is find it...

This book will offer you the remedial seeds of symbolic, metaphoric and emotive language, so that you may begin to plant your own medicinal garden within yourself.
