In this premiere episode, we introduce the mashup concept behind Severance Peaks, which began a few years ago when we launched a mashup meme page on Instagram. While this is mostly a Severance podcast, we all met while covering Twin Peaks, so connections to that show are bound to pop up!

We discuss the unsettling psychological horror elements, the juxtaposition of old and new technology, and just how far we’d be willing to go for the severance procedure ourselves.

With plenty of laughs, sharp observations, and some weird tangents (you wouldn't expect anything less), we're here to explore the eerie intersections between Lumon Industries and the uncanny. Beware: spoilers for both Severance and Twin Peaks are aplenty, so make sure you've clocked in for both shows before diving in with us!

Episode 7 of Severance Peaks is a rollercoaster of emotions as Patrick, Dave, and Jasmin dive into Severance’s intense seventh episode, “Defiant Jazz.” We waste no time getting into the heart of the Music Dance Experience, reflecting on the dazzling lights, incredible performances and surreal energy of one of the season’s standout scenes.

From bibles to Beowulf, Dave brings connections that leaves everyone in stitches. We also reflect on the emotional weight of Irv and Burt’s relationship, discussing the heartbreaking retirement scene. And of course we talk about that big reveal!

Much like page 197 of The You You Are, Episode 8 of Severance slaps. It left us with so many questions to conjure strange and mysterious theories around, such as … 

Did Milchick snitch on Cobel and get her fired? Is Irv doing his own experiment, trying to gain inside info on Lumon?  Do the Innies discuss Waffle Parties with each other? How many times has Ms Casey been “rebooted”? Is Harmony an Eagan? And, perhaps most pressingly, does 8-bit Kier tell everyone he loves them, or was that special for Helly? 

We never did find out what’s for dinner, but it’s safe to say this ‘sode gave us lots to chew on!

Dearest ones, we are nearing that hour! Please allow us to peacefully waft into your earholes, as it’s time to discuss the epic events of the Severance season 1 finale. The We We Are is a certified banger that keeps the tension at an absolute peak during the entirety of its surprisingly short runtime. (How is this ‘sode only 40 minutes?!) It has some incredible reveals - Helly is an Eagan?! It introduces even more mysteries - why does Irv have a list of Severed employees?! It even gives us a rare moment of genuine honesty from Ricken - maybe you *can* meet your heroes?! Mark is journeying, as they say, and we are stoked to be along for the mind-bending ride that is Severance, season 2 episode 7, “Chikhai Bardo.” This ‘sode was full of reveals, finally giving us more details on Gemma’s past and present. And yet, with every reveal, more questions were cleverly presented. All of this while keeping us rooted in Mark’s reintegration process, and delivered via one of the most visually stunning hours of television we’ve ever seen. Wow kazow, Severance, wow kazow.

Severance, season 2 episode 8, “Sweet Vitriol” was a slightly divisive episode for the gang at Severance Peaks. We all wanted more Co(w)bel, but was this an intriguing and resonant enough way to deliver that? We do all agree that what we learned about Harmony was hugely important, that the cinematography remains beautiful, and that Patricia Arquette’s performance was nothing to throw a water bottle at. It’s also a big week for 8 Watch (sorry Jeff), and Dave cooks up a brand new segment!
