Anyways, back to it .

*Trigger Warning: This episode deals with abuse.

Adrian and Ricky are getting down with it. Afterwards, Ricky reveals to Adrian his deepest secret: His dad used to .... him when he was younger. Adrian is shocked and calls her own father (Sexy Bald, the DA) on the phone, demanding that he put Ricky's dad back in prison. But Ruben can't, unless needs to catch Bob doing something illegal.

At the Juergens (that reminds Sarah of her grandma's trailer, god bless) it's a big day for both Amy and Ben. She's about to learn the sex of the baby (she's hoping for a girl), and he's looking forward to doing anything with her. He's even got his camera for labour! But, Amy proves Leo right: She doesn't want Ben there.

George, meanwhile, starts plotting the death of Bob Underwood (Ricky's dad who wants to sell their healthy caucasian baby). Alas, it is undercooked like all of George's plans.

Ricky visits Marshall and Kathleen to say he can't see Grace anymore because of his father issues. He doesn't want to endanger her. Later, Marshall goes to see Ricky and reveals that his own brother was .... and ... himself as a result. It was actually a powerful scene, god bless.

Jack starts mentoring Duncan who is near his age and lives in a sketchy part of town (read, suburbia but with bars on the windows) with his hot sister who is Kendra from Buffy. Anyways, Jack spots Bob buying drugs. This is enough to put bad dad back behind bars.

Over at the doctor's office, someone else is getting good news: Amy finds out the baby is a boy.

S01E014 The Father and the Son

We finally meet the mega creep: Ricky's dad, AKA: Bob Underwood. He scares even Amy and Ashley just by walking up the driveway and asking if Amy is Ricky's baby momma.

Bob starts to make the rounds. He goes from the Juergens', where he gets George's attention by offering financial help with the baby, to the baseball practice cage thing Ricky and Grace are on a date. Ricky freaks out when he sees his dad. He threatens Bob with a bat.

As the parents and kids start talking about Bob, the truth about Ricky's past starts to surface.... but is it the truth? Who's lying here? Ex-con and just released from prison dad, or good guy Ricky? Sexy bald (Ruben) finds out too, but all he's legally allowed to tell Adrian is that she should stop seeing Ricky.

Anne increasingly uncertain about her own future (she wants to be an archetect but only has her half-finished Women's Degree study). But, Amy starts taking the adoption option more seriously. However, Ben (of course Ben has an opinion and how he is a victim somehow) nor Ricky likes that idea.

Interestingly, Ashley and Anne both seek out Reverend Stone (aka Jack's step-dad) for guidance. Ashley wants him to save her parents' marriage, and Anne just wants to talk about herself.

And Bob? Well, Bob has a similar idea. He tells Ricky that for a handsome fee he know some people that could adopt it (but like, not in a healthy couple way, but in an Epstein way).

S01E013 Baked Nevada

Amy and Ben’s shotgun wedding lasts approximately one (1) chaotic reception before every adult in a 10-mile radius storms in to shut it down. Leo and George burst in like it’s a police raid, dragging the newlyweds back to reality—and, unfortunately for Amy, the marriage isn’t even legally valid. Nothing says romance like forged documents and immediate annulment vibes.

Meanwhile, Adrian’s dad Ruben is on a full rage tour, furious that she skipped dinner and somehow even more furious about the fake ID ring—because yes, in this universe, every teen is either pregnant, cheating, or running a low-level crime operation.

At the Bowman house, Marshall returns just in time to be disappointed in literally everyone. Tom declares himself a “grown-up” (sir… you are not), and Grace casually drops that she’s in love with Ricky and he loves her back. This would be cute if Ricky wasn’t… actively sleeping with Adrian on the side.

Adrian, for her part, delivers one of the most unhinged takes of the episode: she’d rather be the one he cheats with than the one he cheats on. Queen of self-sabotage.

Grace remains blissfully unaware, living in her delusional rom-com while the rest of the show is a soap opera on fire.

George promises not to tell Anne about the wedding—which is hilarious, because of course she finds out anyway, thanks to a random run-in at a lawyer’s office. (Also, she’s still pursuing a divorce despite recent garage… activities. This family is exhausting.)

Anne confronts Amy, and things escalate from defiance → tears → full panic when Amy feels the baby kick for the first time. A tender moment, except it’s surrounded by chaos, yelling, and the realization that she is, in fact, very pregnant and very not ready.

Elsewhere:

Counselor Molina returns from his mysterious disappearance… married to a jealous woman. No follow-up questions???
Jack decides to “better himself” by taking the fall for the fake ID scheme. Heroic? Maybe. Dumb? Also yes.
Ruben hands out community service like it’s candy.

S01E012 The Secret Wedding of the American Teenager

Anne decides that because Amy is basically glowing and responsible now, it’s time to hand her even more adult duties — you know, as one does when their teen daughter is nine months pregnant. Meanwhile, Anne discovers George is planning to move into the garage like a disgraced raccoon husband, and the two have a blowout that screams “we should’ve divorced three seasons ago." Honestly... if only...

But wait. Amy and Ben, operating on pure hormonal adrenaline and zero frontal lobe development, decide the obvious solution to everything is… a secret wedding. Naturally. Get that bag, Amy, and that plate of chicken wings!! You go, diva!!

Kathleen, in a shocking lapse of judgment, gives Grace permission to date Ricky while Grace begins spiraling that her parents’ marriage might be circling the drain. Love is in the air. Or maybe it’s just emotional instability.

Meanwhile, the friend group skips out on school during a wholesome little car wash fundraiser to acquire fake Nevada IDs so they can attend Amy and Ben’s impulsive elopement.

On the softer side, Adrian and her mom actually grow closer (as they plot for her to date S. Bald (aka: Ruben)), and Kathleen decides to play suburban matchmaker by setting Tom up with Tammy.

S01E10 Back to School Special

Amy briefly considers escaping her problems by attending a special school for the loose—which lasts exactly five minutes before George pulls a classic George and unilaterally ships her back to Grant High, because nothing screams healing like forced public humiliation. Tea.
Grace thinks she might want Jack again… until she spots him holding hands with Alice in the hallway and immediately pivots to emotional chaos mode.
Meanwhile, Adrian is enjoying a quiet moment with Ricky (as quiet as this show allows) when her long-lost dad Ruben (Sexy Bald) appears out of nowhere. After a quick chat with Adrian’s mom, the adults decide Adrian should simply move in with him, because that’s definitely how teenagers and parental rights work.

Back at Grant High, Amy’s return sparks a school-wide gossip emergency. Her two chatty best friends do their part, while Lauren continues her deeply ill-advised crush on Ricky… until her dad—Dr. Ken Fields, Ricky’s therapist—finds out and rushes to school to shut that mess down immediately.
Ben, meanwhile, throws hands over insults aimed at Amy, and afterwards applies make-up to let us all know that he put up a good fight, but is also delicate and gentle. Grace intervenes, followed by Kathleen and George, who arrive just in time to escalate everything further.
In the principal’s office, Kathleen and George casually unpack their toxic relationship history, only to be interrupted by Cindy (Sexy Mami), who’s looking for Adrian. Things go from awkward to nuclear when Grace overhears her mom admitting she cheated on George. In response, Grace makes bold life changes—starting by ditching her promise ring, dumping Jack, and announcing she’s actually into Ricky now. Love this new direction for her!
As Grace and Jack share a melancholy breakup moment, Alice and Henry take a very different step forward… except their first time having sex is awkward, disappointing, and deeply on-brand. Love that for them.
And Amy? She bravely walks back into school once again—this time with the full support of the student body, who have collectively decided to be nice for approximately one episode, with the ?high school band??? walking with her?

S01E08 Your Cheatin' Heart

Grandma Mimsy arrives to collect Amy like a carry-on item and put her in the drawer. Nobody puts baby in the drawer. Ben spends the episode wandering the halls in full Sad Boy™ mode. Amy’s bags are basically packed… until the universe decides to throw in one more devastating plot twist.

Grace and Adrian continue their unlikely “are we friends or are we just trauma-bonding?” era, while Adrian officially dumps Ricky—because apparently having standards now is a thing. Just like breaking into the school to put on lip gloss. But all this baby drama sends Adrian on a personal quest, and she asks guidance counselor Marc Molina (Malone?) to help track down her long-lost dad.

Elsewhere, Ricky bonds with Tom learns Tom is adopted, which sends Ricky into an existential tailspin he handles in the most Ricky way possible: by running away from his feelings instead of talking to Grace like a normal human. Love it.

Back at school, Adrian and Jack get caught snooping in Marc Molina’s office, but instead of suspension, Adrian is rewarded with her birth certificate (sure!) and a new mission: helping Jack win Grace back, because meddling has never caused problems on this show.

Meanwhile, Strawberry Shortcake (Madison) shows up to the Juergens house in her post-makeover villain era after losing a full-scale war with Lauren (deadeyes) over Ricky. Neither girl gets Ricky, but Madison wins something arguably better: a date with Lauren’s brother, Jason. Growth? Revenge? Both?

Just when it looks like Amy’s about to leave with Mimsy, the episode drops its emotional nuke: Mimsy has Alzheimer’s. Suddenly, moving away isn’t just dramatic—it’s impossible. Amy may be stuck, Ben may have hope, and Anne may have to decide whether letting George back into the house is the lesser of two evils.

And looming over it all: Will Amy keep the baby? Will she marry Ben? Will anyone make a good decision? Stay tuned. Or disassociate like we do <3333
