Claire hosts the Me and My Racquet podcast on behalf of USTA Southern. She is the Tennis Service Representative for North Georgia and Atlanta.

Can early exposure and self-accountability shape a young athlete's future? We were thrilled to speak with Mark Dillon! Mark Dillon is in the North Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame and was the President of USTA NC.

Mark played college tennis at NC State where he won two ACC singles championships, an ACC doubles championship, and NCAA All-American honors in 1981. His brother played at NC State University and his wife played tennis at the University of Georgia. All his children played tennis at a high level and two of his children played at Division 1 schools. In 2019, his family won the Family of the Year Award from North Carolina.

Josh Collins is the founder of the Social Tennis League. He has been a professional tennis coach for 15 years and coached his 14U team to 2nd in the Nation. He is a 4.0 NTRP rated player and has won the USTA state championship numerous times and played in Sectionals.

Cy was selected as North Carolina USPTA Pro of the Year in 1996 and was inducted into the NC Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004. He also served as  the President of USTA North Carolina and as President of the North Carolina Tennis Foundation.

In late 2019, he began his pickleball journey.   As a beginner pickleball player, he started as 3.5.  His curiosity about the sport took him out to the courts to learn and practice every day.  He played his first tournament in doubles as a 3.5 and won Gold right away without losing any games and played his second tournament as a 4.0 and won Gold also. After his first two, he started playing 4.5 level, several 5.0s, and even a couple in the professional levels.  He earned several Gold and Silver medals in 4.5s and even though no medals yet at the professional level, he had some great wins.  

Currently, he resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Mandy, who is also an avid tennis and pickleball player.

Francie played college tennis for NC State and was the Assistant Coach for NC State after graduating. She was the Head Coach at Methodist University, the Director of Professional Tennis Management at Methodist University, the Director of Tennis at MacGregor Downs Country Club, and is a PTR & USPTA certified pro. She is currently the USTA Southern Manager of Coach Development and Training and the Tennis Service Representative for North Carolina.

She was inducted into Methodist University Athletics Hall of Fame, the Fayetteville, NC Sports Club Hall of Fame, named PTR Pro of year for NC, and received the USTA NC Lifetime Achievement award.

Tennis, and especially adult recreational tennis, is a little strange with all the etiquette, protocols, and manners involved in a match. Also, what one person considers bad manners another may not. In this episode, Erin discusses situations she has had with opponents who she believes did not have the best tennis manners.  Carolyn mostly agrees, but we learned that bad manners can be very subjective!
