But before construction begins, the first assembly ship, Orbiter 1, is attacked and loses contact with CSP Control. A second ship, Orbiter 2, sent to rescue the first crew finds Orbiter 1 deserted and the spacecraft's log missing. Orbiter 2 is also attacked by a UFO and seriously injured. With their spacecraft crippled, the crew have no alternative but to abandon ship and place themselves at the mercy of their attackers. Each tells the story of an important discovery or invention, and dramatizes the words and actions of those involved in the discovery.

A Piece of Silk is about, André-Jacques Garneri, the man who perfected the first parachute. Fight Against Fire focused on the bombs used in the war effort.

Ray Bradbury wrote this story — And the Moon be Still as Bright. This drama is from Dimension X and it aired September 29, 1950.

Plot: A rocket lands on Mars, only to find the native Martians have disappeared. Crew member, Jeff Spender, of the Fourth Expedition, becomes disgusted by his co-shipmen's disrespectful "American" attitude towards the ruins, he seeks to right this wrong.

This week we continue with the fifth chapter of a six-part series from the BBC series Orbit One Zero. This episode is titled, The Frozen World, and it aired 19 May 1961. Each month I will post one episode of the series to the end of the series.

Chapter Five: Elizabeth is found in the laboratory frozen along with the rest of the room, but still alive. They find a tape recorder in the lab which contains a recording of the situation Elizabeth found herself in. The tape reveals the purpose of the rods, but the tape recorder fails before the entire message can be relayed.

Plot: The perfect "mechanicals" from another planet make humans unnecessary, and they are always "at your service." The year is 2006. Housework has been made easy by robots (or as referred to in this story, 'mechanicals') who make coffee, wash the dishes, and have a mysterious agenda.

Cast: Peter Capell, Bryna Raeburn, Norman Rose, Alexander Scourby

Jack Williamson (b. 04/1908 - d. 11/2006), is often referred to as the “Dean of Science Fiction,” and was one of the first to use the term, “genetic engineering.”

This last week of 2021 features Brave New World (parts 1 & 2) by CBS Workshop. Written by British author and philosopher Aldous Huxley. Brave New World has been adapted into many radio, theatre, and television versions from this 1956 production to a modern day television series of the same name in 2020.
