How to take your brick and mortar online | Ep 14927 Apr 2020
  1. Find a platform like Shopify that will allow you to create a site that already has eCommerce capabilities. Wordpress/WooCommerce and BigCommerce are both other options you can use, but we are a little biased without seamless Shopify works.
  2. Determine the products you want to sell online and how you will track in-store merchandise vs online. Our suggestion is to get a POS system that will track both, which Shopify does offer. This will help you in situations where someone tries to buy online, makes the purchase, and then you don’t pull the merchandise before someone else picks it up in store.
  3. Focus on a niche market, you have the whole world you can target and market to online, but you should still focus on your audience. If your demographic is an older demographic, make sure the site has a similar feel that they would enjoy. Honestly, try to copy as much of your in-store experience as you can.
  4. Prep your customers for your launch. If you have an email list, Facebook followers, etc. Keep them posted on your progress as you make the transition and educate them along the way. You want them to be primed and ready to buy when you go live, this will give you that initial first spark of selling online.
  5. Don’t expect to have success overnight, just like it probably took you years to create a loyal following, there are millions of websites like yours (more than likely) and you have to earn their trust and purchases. Focus on the experience online.
  6. Online is a pay to play space, but one you figure out the right game, the chances for growth are limitless. Don’t be afraid to invest in SEO, social media advertising, or affiliate marketing.

5 Steps to a successful TikTok marketing strategy | Ep 14530 Mar 2020

Being first is always better…

When it comes to marketing, being first to a platform allows so many advantages that you wouldn’t have if you came later. Imagine being on Instagram and building an audience in 2010 vs 2020.

The same thing is possible if you adopt a platform like TikTok now vs when it becomes even more saturated over the next few years.

Before you jump on the platform, though, make sure you have a strategy. Even if that strategy is to explore, make sure you are tracking the metrics you deem necessary to stick around or not.

 

  1. Identify your goals; target number of video views per video, conversion rate, etc.
  2. Probably the most important, is your audience on TikTok? It’s amazing to be first to market, but not if your audience isn’t there yet. This is a highly debated stance, but if you need to make money, there are a lot of ways to do it and it doesn’t have to be on TikTok if you don’t want it to be.
  3. Post valuable content, and if it makes sense and is on brand for you, find a way to be fun. There are a lot of trends that start on TikTok, if your brand can benefit, take advantage. Participate in challenges, duets, and as the platform develops, any other ways that people are using the platform. Remember, TikTok created features for a reason, you should use them all if possible.

  1. Use the right hashtags - TikTok hashtags are absolutely useful and people search this way, but more importantly, TikTok uses this to help spread your message.
  2. Create content that matches your audience and track those results. Any successful campaign must have numbers. It doesn't’ have to always be sales or eyes on videos, but you need to now audit your results with your current goals and see if you need to be doing more or less with the current strategy.

In today’s episode we talk about the three pillars that are needed to help you bring in a consistent flow of leads and scale WITHOUT working more hours.

 

  1. You have to know your audience and you must get your messaging right. Think about your customer avatar, we know the demographics, everyone knows that, but what you really care about are the psychographics. After we have created your customer avatar we need to find out what your CPL, CPA, and LTV are.  This allows you to make decisions that are appropriate for your business.
  2. Content creation + Automation. Those who make the most content are not the most effective, but those who make the most effective content consistently are the most effective. Messaging is hard, but when you figure it out, everything becomes clearer. This is the stage of your business where you are going to need to get out of your comfort zone and create videos. We will discuss the three types of content you need to create and how they work. This stage is also the automation stage, if you do the same tasks over and over again and it can be automated, you should. Time is one of the biggest things holding you back from scaling.
  3. Numbers; you need to know your numbers. If you don’t know how many leads are coming in, it’s going to be hard for you to find out how to scale. In the same vein, if one area of your business is driving 90% of the revenue, you need to know that.

What are stories? In short, for most platforms they are 15 second, slice of life style videos that disappear after 24 hours. We can all thank Snapchat for the introduction and IG for the explosion.

 

  1. Stories have blown up! We now are seeing stories on YouTube and LinkedIn. It’s also voted as one of the top three places people are watching videos online!
  2. 73% of marketers uploaded 2 or more marketing videos to YouTube in the last month
  3. 72% of marketers post branded content to Facebook Stories once a week or more
  4. Audiences want brand Stories to be useful, easy, and authentic
