SADurdays Episode 80 (6/28/26) special guest Buddy Nielsen (Senses Fail)02 juil. 202601:16:49

CALLING ALL CARS!!!

Buddy Nielsen of Senses Fail pulls back the curtain on the chaotic world of early 2000s punk, revealing how leaping into the unknown with unmastered tracks helped them steal the scene and build a legacy that’s still resonating today.

In this candid conversation, Buddy shares vivid stories from the band’s explosive rise out of Jersey’s underground scene, navigating the treacherous waters of major labels, and fighting to keep their sound authentic amid industry pressure.

You'll discover how Senses Fail’s heavier edge bridged the gap from post-hardcore to metalcore, influencing countless bands that followed, and why their DIY spirit kept them true through success, leaks, and the chaos of Warped Tour.

We break down the pivotal moments that shaped their career— from the chaos of label negotiations and early recordings to those legendary Warped Tour days in the sweltering parking lots.

Buddy also offers insider details on the band’s creative process, the unanticipated impact of internet leaks, and how they’re planning to celebrate 25 years of making noise.

So, LET THIS EPISODE OF SADURDAYS ENFOLD YOU.

After moving from the Sunshine State to a small town in New Mexico, the time esteemed rock vocalist Stephen Christian spent in that town had a profound effect on him that remains with him to this day. That’s why, even after returning back to Florida, Christian has decided to pay tribute to New Mexico on the fifth Anchor & Braille full-length, which is not only named after the state, but whose 14 tracks capture its heart and soul. Just by listening to it, you can tell much of a cherished place it remains for the songwriter. NEW MEXICO is due July 25 via Equal Vision Records.
“I have not had more fun creating music on a record, maybe in my life,” Christian shares, and continues, “It was just so much fun to create. These songs are all internal dialogs I’ve had with myself, where I’m trying to figure out how I can help someone if they’re having the same thoughts or the same anxiety or the same worries. Because if they are, hopefully they can find a little bit of solace in this music. It’s supposed to be a full-on immersive experience. I want people to explore this place and help them feel at home, no matter where they are.”
