همه هست آرزویم که ببینم از تو رویی

چه زیان تو را که من هم برسم به آرزویی

به کسی جمال خود را ننموده ای و بینم

همه جا به هر زبانی بود از تو گفتگویی

به ره تو بس که نالم  ز غم تو بس که مویم

شده ام ز ناله نالی  شده ام ز مویه مویی

همه خوشدل آنکه مطرب بزند به تار چنگی

من از این خوشم که چنگی بزنم به تار مویی

چه شود که راه یابد سوی آب تشنه کامی

چه شود که کام جوید ز لب تو کام جویی

شود اینکه از ترحم دمی ای سحاب رحمت

من خشک لب هم آخر  ز تو تر کنم گلویی

From God, who grants success, we ask for success in

maintaining good manners always; explanation of the

harm in being ill-mannered

Let’s pray to God for manners in their place

Since those who lack them lose out on his grace,

It’s not as though it’s just themselves they harm,

They set the world on fire, disrupt the calm:

A feast was sent down from above one day 80

Without demands or any price to pay,

Moses had men who still bemoaned their lot,

‘Why weren’t some lentils spiced with garlic brought?’

The host then cleared the feast that had been laid

And each was forced to farm with scythe and spade;

Jesus once interceded for a man,

A bounteous feast was sent down in God’s plan,

But then some greedy brats who lacked respect

Like beggars grabbed the most they could collect,

Even though Jesus cried, ‘It’s infinite, 85

You greedy fools, you’ll not run out of it!’*

Regard this lust and faithless attitude

Before God’s feast as sheer ingratitude:

When blinded by their greed these low ingrates

Cause God to shut to all his mercy’s gates:

If you withhold zakat,* then rain won’t fall

And fornication spreads a plague to all,

So what’s the source of your deep misery?

Acting without respect conceitedly!

Whoever fails to show respect to God 90

For robbing other men deserves the rod!

Good manners are what made the heavens bright

And angels sinless, purer than the light,

The Healing of the Sick Slave-Girl 9

Irreverence caused eclipses of the sun

And Satan, through his pride, to be undone.

که ای عزیز شکارم چه خوش بود به خدا
گریزپای رهش را کشان کشان ببرند
بر آسمان چهارم چه خوش بود به خدا
بدان دو نرگس مستش عظیم مخمورم
چو بشکنند خمارم چه خوش بود به خدا
چو جان زار بلادیده با خدا گوید
که جز تو هیچ ندارم چه خوش بود به خدا
جوابش آید از آن سو که من تو را پس از این
به هیچ کس نگذارم چه خوش بود به خدا
شب وصال بیاید شبم چو روز شود
که روز و شب نشمارم چه خوش بود به خدا
چو گل شکفته شوم در وصال گلرخ خویش

بیابم آن شکرستان بی نهایت را
که برد صبر و قرارم چه خوش بود به خدا
امانتی که به نه چرخ در نمی گنجد

Frist 18 Verses of Rumi Masnavi recitation in English

the song of the reed , 

Now listen to this reed-flute’s deep lament , 

About the heart ache being apart has meant: , 

‘Since from the reed-bed they uprooted me , 

My song’s expressed each human’s agony, 

A breast which separation’s split in two, 

Is what I seek, to share this pain with you: , 

When kept from their true origin, all yearn, 

For union on the day they can return. 

Amongst the crowd, alone I mourn my fate, 

With good and bad I’ve learnt to integrate, 

That we were friends each one was satisfied, 

But none sought out my secrets from inside; 

My deepest secret’s in this song I wail, 

But eyes and ears can’t penetrate the veil, 

Body and soul are joined to form one whole, 

But no one is allowed to see the soul.’ 

It’s fire not just hot air the reed-flute’s cry, 

If you don’t have this fire then you should die!* , 

Love’s fire is what makes every reed-flute pine, 

Love’s fervour thus lends potency to wine; 

The reed consoles those forced to be apart, 

Its notes will lift the veil upon your heart, 

Where’s antidote or poison like its song, 

Or confidant, or one who’s pined so long? 

This reed relates a tortuous path ahead, 

Recalls the love with which Majnun’s heart bled: , 

The few who hear the truths the reed has sung , 

Have lost their wits so they can speak this tongue. 

The day is wasted if it’s spent in grief, 

Consumed by burning aches without relief— , 

Good times have long passed, but we couldn’t care, 

When you’re with us, our friend beyond compare! 

While ordinary men on drops can thrive, 

 A fish needs oceans daily to survive:,  

The way the ripe must feel the raw can’t tell, 

My speech must be concise, and so fare well!

دِلْبَریّ و بی‌دلی اسرارِ ماست

کارْ کارِ ماستْ چون او یارِ ماست

نوبَتِ کُهنه فروشان دَرگُذشت

نوفروشانیم و این بازارِ ماست

زنده شدن به عشق و رسیدن به سرمنزل مقصود در کمال نیستی و عاشقی

تا کِی به حَبْسِ این جهانْ من خویش زندانی کُنم؟

وَقت است جانِ پاک را، تا میرِ میدانی کُنم

بیرون شُدم زآلودگی، با قُوَّتِ پالودگی

اورادِ خود را بعد ازین، مَقْرونِ سُبحانی کُنم

مولانا در این غزل درباره ازاد کردن ما انسانها از زندان افکار و خواستهای این بدن و دنیا سخن می گوید

ای بُرده اختیارم، تو اختیارِ مایی

من شاخِ زَعفَرانم، تو لاله زارِ مایی

گفتم غَمَت مرا کُشت، گفتا چه زَهره دارد؟

غَم این قَدَر نداند، کآخِر تو یارِ مایی؟

دکلمه ای از غزل معروف حافظ که می گوید، یارب مبادا که گدا معتبر شود

پیش‌تَرآ رویِ تو جُز نور نیست

کیست که از عشقِ تو مَخْمور نیست؟

نی غَلَطَم در طَلَبِ جانِ جان

پیش مَیا، پَس بِمَرو، دور نیست

پُرسید کَسی که ره کدامست؟

گفتم کاین راهْ تَرکِ کامست

ای عاشقِ شاه، دان که راهَت
