Episode 114: Rotosauce Baseball - Outfield, Pitcher, & Catcher Ranks with Toby Guevin
Hosted by Greg Smith (@gregsauce)
Greg is joined by Toby Guevin (@BatFlipCrazy) to finish up the fantasy baseball rankings comparison they initiated in Episode 113. This second installment begins with outfield discussion (1:17), including why your hosts aren't drafting Nick Castellanos, Toby’s bold projection for Yasiel Puig, other key rankings discrepancies, an attempt to sort out the Padres outfielder, and how to prioritize certain stat-producing archetypes of players in the draft. Starting pitcher is next (57:04), with talk of how and when to chase wins based on quality of players’ teams, why Michael Wacha is off Toby’s board, Stephen Strasburg vs. James Paxton, the relative cost differences between Colorado's starters, the bounce-back potential for Matt Harvey, and other late-round hurlers to target. The show's relief pitcher evaluations (1:39:31) touch on Toby’s reasons to fade Aroldis Chapman, the sneaky value of Trevor May, key closer committee battles, the best reliever values, and a brief check-in on how to approach holds leagues. Things wind down with the catcher position (2:06:39), as Greg and Toby give general strategy for one-catcher versus two-catcher leagues (with targets for both types of league) and sort through a few intriguing catcher platoons. Tune in and taste the Rotosauce.
