RECAP TIME:

After swindling their way into taking a job for their nemesis, our heroes stole the very thing that Xethir needed to redirect his god: a fragment of an ancient heartstone. That heartstone once formed the core of Xethir's now-dead god, and our heroes got it to their well-connected friend, the Curator, who hid it and rewarded them with some fancy new magic items. 

But since their last confrontation, Xethir was alive, once again. With the Curator's help, our heroes teleported straight into the Whispered Word Headquarters in the Capital, where they helped Meredith Vollant figure out the next surge of Evraen Xethir needed to forge another heartstone from the shards was overdue.

They would need to find the other shards first, and they would need to recruit the disparate forces across the Entanglement to prepare. For should Xethir succeed, the otherworldly responsible for the historical Great Unbinding, would walk the entanglement again.

After an evening of pampered luxury in the Whispered Word guest quarters, our heroes rested. Ahmaya learned her bond with Murmer had strengthened, and he now manifested as a crow of leaves and twigs. Jacks cast Dream to their father, where they confronted him as he sat over their mother's deathbed and confessed that she did not die in labour, but of a long suffering, magic disease.

Freya visited her god, Nuravorne, the drowned man, weathered and fishing atop the Lunaric sea. He searched for the other heartstone shards, and offered a warning that Xethir only needee one, though without them all, resurrection would be more difficult. 

They went to bed, knowing that the days hence, would be mo easier than the last…

RECAP TIME:

Xethir wanted to resurrect his dead god by forging him a new heartstone, but its broken fragments were scattered across the Entanglement, and our heroes had a plan to stop him.

They defeated Xethir, but he would soon be born again. Then they heard of a job on the Collectorate network that was to obtain a shard from the Verdant Range. They suspected Xethir had put the task of retrieving a heartstone fragment out to market while he was resurrected. So they took the job. 

At the briefing for the shard job they realised they would be chaperoned by Leonitis Balren, Ora's brainwashed soon-to-be father-in-law. Leonitis teleported them to Crulhoste, an ancient Bysilman facility in the Verdant range that was by a deathly miasma called the voidblight. Imbued with Leonitis's protection spell, they entered and found flora and fauna falling into dust when touched.

Deep in the facility was the heartstone fragment. It seemed to resonate and possess the voidblight that suffused Crulhoste. Its link with Xethir's god was enough to spout oil that grew into a great serpent, the shard its one, violet eye. 

Our heroes defeated the serpent and took the shard, but the ordeal broke Leonitis's mind. In a moment of clarity he agreed to leave for our heroes hideout. They visited the Curator who stored the shard for them, then he warned them that they must attempt to unite the desperate powers against the rise of Xethir. To start, he agreed to teleport them to the headquarters of the Whispered Word in Sehira…

RECAP TIME:

Our heroes were a step ahead of their nemesis, Xethir – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god before his minions could. Tomorrow they would get their briefing with a construct of the Apotheos, under a bridge in Miras Kàlorn.

En route to the capital city Sehira, our heroes discovered a secret Gateway that enable them to teleport to a town near the capital, Boraxuss. Eugene's hometown. Where he found a mysterious lockbox left by his father, which held another lexicon and the letter. 

Finally arriving in Sehira, Freya was keen to rescue the Analyst, a great shardwork calculator that was being scrapped for becoming unreliable and seemingly had grown conscious. She had interacted with the machine long ago where instead of printing records, it had asked her for help.

So before they took to the lofty heights of Miras Kàlorn, they explored the lower city and prepared to find the Analyst. But as they  shopped in the canal markets, Opari knights, from the great eastern Empire of the aurora storm, found their quarry: Ahmaya. 

With some quick thinking, and cheeky manipulative spell work form Freya, they quickly fooled the nights and escaped onto the runway and up to the upper city, where they would soon try and save the analyst from its reclamation.

After twining themselves with Dustmere conspiracies our heroes toiled away in the stacks of the archivist's guild, researching details they'd picked up since their trek in the depths of the Glass Desert. They uncovered secrets of the Serene. They gained insight into the One Thousand Seals. Sentinel asked more of these seals from their amnesiac patron the Enigmora who asked them to stop their breaking and advised they seek out those responsible. And Eugene managed to unlock his strange cube called the Enriver's Lexicon and it spoke to him of a quest to find the remaining caches.

But, as the duke's ball approaches, they further intertwined themselves; getting jobs at the manor where the ball will be held, ordering a dress and suit to be tailored (and masks – it' a masquerade after all). Ahmaya and Eugene warmed up their culinary skills, Eugene showing Ahmaya how to craft sugar into fruit flavoured rock-candy sending stones to be used during the ball.

Meanwhile, Freya once again meditated on the artefact she had been drawn to in the desert, the rocky, fist sized sphere called the God's Lantern. And after weeks of trying, she finally broke through. Lightening sheered from her body while her mind dwelled within the nexus-space of the Lantern. She found herself on a fishing boat with a man, floating on a tranquil sea beneath stars, moons, and planets. But when the man saw her, he seemed to panic and ejected her, only for her to be visited that night by something else…

After identifying an abandoned ship as Duke Gaspar's, and uncovering the remnants of a macabre ritual onboard, our heroes arrived back in Dustmere. A number of Dukes, a strange cult obsessed with something called "Apoptysaliss", and potentially other forces, were vying for power in the desert city – and all our heroes new for sure was that it involved the manipulation of swathes of people into worshipping Duke Debiles as though he were a prophet.

But after solving the robbery at the Archivists guild, they had access to the stacks, and they took full advantage of it. They uncovered secrets of the Serene, a group that pre-dated the Edgewatchers. They gained insight into the One Thousand Seals, that they were patches placed over cracks in the fabric of the Entanglement multiverse to seal away that which led to the Great Unbinding many thousands of years before. Eugene specifically made progress unlocking his strange cube called the Enriver's Lexicon.

And they found out the meaning of Apoptysaliss – a chrysalis of ritualistic death.

But, as they sign-up to jobs for the upcoming Duke's ball, dangers rise round our heroes, and so do the tensions. This led to an explosive heart-to-heart between Moxie and Sentinel, paranoia among many of the others that they were being watched…

Hunting down and boarding the stranded vessel out of Port Dustmere, our heroes discovered a terrible truth. The ship had been used for some kind of ritual, bodies stacked around a circle of blood and sigils below deck, and a remnant madness clawed at their psyches. Whoever was responsible had intended to blow the boat out of the water, but the fire had failed.

Our heroes found a paper trail — it was one of Duke Gaspar De Avicco's vessels, and then they fled, reigniting the barrels and watching it erupt from afar. Our heroes returned to Dustmere, Moxie finished making her mask from the Prophet of Dust's skull fragments. Eugene managed to awaken his strange artefact, the Enriver's Lexicon, and Sentinel checked in with Zeal after he was caught by the madness on the boat. Ora and Freya used the remaining light to visit the forge where Ora spoke with his old boss and friend, and then the Chapel of the Dawn Chorus where, on the Prelate's records, Freya saw a name she hadn't seen for a long time. That night, the group was finally reunited.

But all was not so well. Ahmaya and Freya suspected a new half-elf who worked behind the bar at the Coal and Petal Inn, and after confronting him, the man disappeared. Sentinel suspected spies, for them and Moxie or for Ora, they were all unsure. But the ball approached, the Dukes' plots continued, and our heroes still needed a way in…

A message from a familiar Pirate Dragonborn woke Ahmaya with a favour. There was a ship abandoned near Dustmere port, and there were bad things aboard. Our heroes were already suspicious about Duke Gaspar De Avicco, suspecting this ship to be one he had used to smuggle coilstones. They had 12 hours before the information would go public, so they took to seas and soon realised the ship was not all that it seemed.

A ritual had taken place aboard the vessel, leaving a scar on the ship, a curse that ate away at our heroes' minds. Below deck, bodies were stacked around a circle of old symbols and in the centre was a stool bearing a burn-mark like a coal had rested on its top. A boat approached, and our heroes raced to find evidence. They discovered the captain's body away in a large bench, along with papers identifying the ship as one of Gaspar De Avicco's.

They found the unburned casks of alchemical grain alcohol someone had attempted to use to incinerate the ship, and they took the opportunity to blast the ship from the water. Returning to Dustmere, they reunited with Ora, where he spoke of his own revelations, and they regrouped to prepare for the last few days before the Duke's Ball…

Doranna, the pirate dragonborn, a lithe lizard of a man our heroes met in a desert outpost, contacted Ahmaya. A vessel was adrift close to Dustmere port – bad things aboard, he said. And after confirming with a contact from the port Master's office, our heroes were given 12 hours to get to the boat and investigate before the information would be released as public knowledge.

Driven by their suspicion of the ship being one of Duke Gaspar's lost vessels he'd used to smuggle coilstones, they flew to the port by carriage. Leaving Ora behind to stir from a strange vision that had consumed him for days.

There was something wrong with the ship. Dead fish surrounded it, birds dove to feed but never resurfaced. On the main deck they discovered a body tattooed with heretical marks, bastardisations of the Three Churches of the Apotheos. They found more bodies… and more. A circle of sigils, and a similarly tattooed man on the edge of dying. 

They saved him. He muttered "Apoptosaliss", told them to seek out The Disciple, and to bear witness to their creation in Dustmere soon. Then he plunged a quill deep into his eye…

After twining themselves in the many threads of conspiracy in the desert city of Dustmere, our heroes concluded the theft at the archivists to be an inside job. The only other evidence being a note in which the writer referred to themselves as "becoming unconsecrated".

In the early hours of the next morning, Ahmaya was awoken by the sending of a familiar Dragonborn Pirate – there was a ship stranded close the Dustmere port… bad things aboard. After tracking down a port contact, our heroes believed it could be one of Duke De Avicco's – and they had only 12 hours before the sighting would go public.

With the Dawn moon of Juness lighting the shallow roof tops of Dustmere, our heroes set out by carriage to the port. And then by smuggler out to sea. The vessel was huge, smoking, and drifting. They sailed to it through calm water, through dead fish and seagulls…

But Ora was not there. Because for over two days he had been lost in an unwaking sleep… and in that time, he had dreamed…

Navigating the tangling conspiracies in the desert city of Dustmere, our heroes took a job investigating a robbery at the Archivist's Guild. After picking through evidence in the stacks, they homed in on a lead – a member of the Guild itself - and chased them to their residents in the cobbled roads and grand estates of the Glitters.

But on arrival, their chaperone from the guild, Ryndell turned on them to seemingly protect or steal evidence and a fiery battle ensued that left the building ablaze. Ryndell fled with a strange teleportation magic, but our heroes were not left empty handed. A note referring being "unconsecrated" and Ryndell's actions all but confirmed they were right about the robbery.

Wrapping up the case, they returned to their friend Caxaria's hideout, where they wrestled with what the dukes we're up to, and what this new evidence, a group "unconsecrated", really meant. Then, there was a knock at the door…

With the city of Dustmere in a state of turmoil and Ora in a strange, unwaking sleep, our heroes took up the opportunity to delve into the stacks of the Archivists Guild… but not to read. Well, all but Eugene who got lost in the Alchemy section and discovered an ancient puzzle that ed him to a cube-like artefact. 

They had been hired by the guild to investigate a strange robbery of the underground library, a book and a tapestry had been stolen from a locked, uncategorised section, and they were tasked with find out who.

After deducing the title of the missing book, and discovering a snapped key in a lock and a suspicious story, they had their eyes set on an absent member of the guild itself: a dwarf called Gwynn. They set out to find her, starting with her home in the Glitters.

But on arrival, their archivist chaperone, Ryndell turned on them, sprinting through the house to search Gwynn's desk and rip a note from a pad. Sentinel chased, grabbed the note. It read "Dear friend. I am unconsecrated." Then Ryndell rose his hands and formed a spell of fire to launch at her...

Strange things are happening in the city in the sand called Dustmere: A caged hag-like creature in the sealed tunnels beneath the cobbles manipulating the masses into worshipping a Duke, and now a theft in the underground library of the Archivist's guild.

After Ora's falling into a deep sleep, and a night of blowing off steam, our heroes sought help from a fellow cleric of Juness, a sister of the Chorus to Freya, who said there was nothing they could do for Ora but wait and pray. 

With a number of days before a ball celebrating the Dukes returned the city, they gather themselves up to try their luck as private investigators in the unusual theft at the library…

Pulling themselves from the grimy depths of the tunnels beneath Dustmere, our heroes met with the Apotheos keeper – knight of the divine arm of Asildian rule – and debriefed. The source of the illusions behind the worship of Duke Debiles was slain. The Keeper considered the matter closed, that the heretical worship would fade without intervention, but the group argued, and convinced him to remain close to the city for the next few days. 

Sentinel retreated to Caxaria's hideout with Moxie, while the rest returned to the Coal and Petal Inn where Ora requested the help of Freya. He wished to meditate again with her help, to try and listen to the strange reverberations once more, and try and learn a little more about both the deity he feels a connection with, and the source of his new power.

Freya obliged, she set out her candles, burned an acrid powder, and they meditated together. Her experience was as it always was, but Ora's was not. He was pulled from his body, his consciousness hung in empty space before The Edge – a gargantuan, black, roiling sphere – and he fell into it…

Newly arriving in Dustmere, our heroes found a conspiracy, and at the task of an Apotheos Keeper, they follow it into the locked-away sewers beneath Dustmere. Down in the depths they uncovered a plot involving a caged hag that seemed to be manipulating the masses into worshipping a duke. 

But it seemed the hag was controlling more than just the citizens of Dustmere – a huge serpent rose from the murky waters of the cistern and attacked.

After a hard-fought battle, our heroes traipsed back through the tunnels and resurfaced in the early hours of the morning… awaiting to see if their excursion will have an impact, and to meet the Keeper who sent them.

In the depths of the tunnels beneath Dustmere, our heroes sought the source of the threads of illusion that were manipulating people in the city into worshipping Duke Debiles as a saviour. Down in the dripping dark they passed bodies, discovered a note that ordered the feeding of something, and while crossing a canal of rushing river water, they lost Clayton into the dark rapids.

Weary and mourning their friend, our heroes eventually entered a large, open room. Above them, chains crisscrossed and rotting snakeskins draped. A covered cage stood on a pedestal and at the centre of the room was a pool of bubbling water.

Ahmaya peeled back the skin over the cage, revealing a grotesque hag with a mask of basket weavings. Clayton heaved himself from the central pool. He spluttered, "run" and a huge, wedge-shaped form erupted from the water. It was a giant serpent, and it rose into the chains above them…

Welcome to Roll Models, an actual play DnD Video Podcast!

After being pulled into a job by an Apotheos Keeper to find the source of supposed miracles at the hand of a duke, our heroes began seeing the signs of the worshipping. From beggars through to gentry they praised the Duke Debiles – a heretical act in the Empire.

In Caxaria's hideout from the Syndicate, our heroes created a conspiracy board of notes. They knew that another present Duke, Duke Gaspar was amassing coilstones. They had uncovered research stating that the stones themselves had a strange property of giving life to certain things. But they couldn't be sure what was being planned.

What they did discover was that the worshipping was due to strange threads of illusion magic that looped from the heads of those who believed Debiles to be their saviour, down into the ground. So our heroes geared up, and prepared to descend into the sealed tunnels beneath Dustmere…

Arriving in Dustmere, the cobbled city in the sand, our heroes were thrown into a quest by a man who had heard of their exploits: an Apotheos Keeper – one of the Knights of the Divine arm of Asildian rule and fierce authority over worship. He was too far from home, and he asked them to seek out the source of rumoured miracles by Debiles, the Duke of Dustmere. 

Ora discovered his soon-to-be father in law had been taken by a mysterious, 'clock-work' man after researching Ora's visions, his fiancé safely hidden. But the city also held surprises for Sentinel and Moxie. After meeting with their tiefling friend Caxaria, the two of them revealed why they hid in their home city. They were the daughters of Royce, head of the De Lanta Velanta crime family of the Dustmere Syndicate, and they were wanted by him. 

But Caxaria had bad news… their father was missing, and their scheming brother Julien had deposed Royce as leader of the family…

Finally our heroes returned to Dustmere where they were taken by carriage into the noble district, the Glitters, to meet the patron of their excursion into the desert: Duke Gaspar De Avicco. In a tense meeting, they denied killing the Graven god the Duke had ordered their captain to find, and he appeared to accept this, offering payment for their silence on the matter.

But before they could leave they were met by a Keeper, a Knight of the divine arm of the Asildian rule. He knew of their exploits and strangely, he had a job for them. Illegal worship was bubbling under the surface of the city, and without jurisdiction in the remote city, he needed their help to hunt it down.

Leaving the audacious estate, Ora asked the driver to take them past his fiancé's family estate that was close by. But as they approached, they saw barricades cordoning-off the gates, and a single guard stood watch over an unusually quiet grounds…

They struck a deal to share any information that Duke Gaspar revealed to them when they returned to Dustmere, and Farro paid them generously to do so.

The way back across the deep sands to end their contracts as hunter scavengers was a long one. But while the sandsail was being repaired, our heroes had time to prepare for the next leg… after all, there were things that needed clearing up…

RECAP TIME:

Finally arriving at the capital city of Sehira, our heroes were a step ahead of their nemesis, Xethir – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god before his minions. Their job briefing would be under a bridge in Miras Kàlorn deep in the Apotheos district of Sehira.

En route to the great city, they stopped off on Talbennery where their teleported up to Boraxxuss, Eugene's home town and finally, Eugene went home; to his family sweet shop. It was closed and empty, but after a brief investigation, Eugene found a puzzle left by his father that led to a mysterious lockbox.

Within was another lexicon, other alchemical paraphernalia and the letter from his father. Soon after they took the runway, the canal bus system, up into the city and for the first time, they entered Sehira.

Finally in the city, Freya was keen to rescue the Analyst, a great shardwork calculator was being scrapped for becoming unreliable. She had interacted with the machine a long time ago where instead of printing records, it had displayed a strange awareness, and asked her for help.

So before they took to the lofty heights of Miras Kàlorn to take the shard job, they explored the lower city and prepared to find the Analyst.

Our heroes arrived by sandsail to the criminal hub of Cristamar on the northern edge of the Cragmore, built into the deep cracks of a small broken mountain. They strolled into town, for drink, for food, and for something other than a night in the sands.

What they found was a bar called the Devils Rattle filled with hunter-scavenger deserters, a strange Dragonborn pirate called Doranna Fishbones… and the orc mercenaries, Yakob and Korg who mutinied and deserted from our heroes' own unit but a week ago.

Yakob was on the sandsail, they had hurt Loite, and they were threatening to reveal them all to Cristamar as Duke's men…

After defeating the dregs of corruption that were released when the Prophet of Dust died, our heroes explored the last few secrets of the Prophet's chambers. Among the curiosities was a strange relic called the God's Lantern, secreted away on an alter the prophet had used to reach out to the Ones Above. But that was not all left in the Nunlakium.

As our heroes left, they returned to free Kade from his bindings, only to find him dead, and the bodies of the rabid husks that had slain him collapsed around him. Together, they decided their first port of call must be the closest, and that was the deserter haven of Cristamar.

Yuri and Tin took them by sandsail along the dunes north of the sprawling Cragmore. As the sun set, the broken stone mound of Cristamar rose from the sand ahead, light trickling from the cracks that formed its alleyways and hid its dodgy dealings...

Our heroes arrived at the Eramani, where not a coilstone was buried, but the shell of a Graven God dwelled. The Prophet of Dust ranted about the relic that corrupted his people, and he had bound within himself, then he crushed the compass that had led our heroes to him.

The coilshard buried within the compass empowered him with one last prophecy, before it turned him to ash.

But something slithered and rose from the dust; the remnant of the corrupted relic, the source of the Gnarl, and it was free.

An explosive fight ensued, husks punctured with Gnarl roots and re-animated, a mystery potion hurled, the captain struck down, and finally it was done…

After digging through Salnari tombs of the Cragmore, quelling mutinies among their unit, and skimming the tops of the dunes on a sandskiff… our heroes arrived at a very different tomb: the Eramani.

Within it hid the last graven god: the Prophet of Dust. He spoke of the Empire's shackles over faith, and how his own people were duped into digging up a corrupted relic that turned them into the husks. A relic that he now repressed within him.

In a fury, he took the shardwork compass and crushed it, the coilshard within reacting with him. He mumbled a final prophecy and collapsed into ash. But in his tattered robes writhed something, a remnant of corruption now uncontained…

RECAP TIME:

Nearing the capital city of Sehira, our heroes were a step ahead of their nemesis, Xethir – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god before his minions. But when the curator, collector of magical relics, reported that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on. Did they take the mysterious job, or did they try and beat whoever took it.

Meanwhile, Freya found out from a paper that the Analyst, a great shardwork calculator was being scrapped for becoming unreliable. She had interacted with the machine a long time ago where instead of printing records, it had displayed a strange awareness, and asked her for help. So our heroes took to the capital city, Sehira.

During a quick stop in Talbennery, they discovered a subterranean gateway system beneath the city. The sigilway was in ruins and now the lair of an arachnid, mutated and swollen by the Talbennery's toxic workshop waste.

They slew the creature and got a quick revenge on the merchant who was responsible for the toxic waste, and decided to kickstart the sigilway to Boraxuss with a coilshard, a town close to Sehira and Eugene's home town.

In Boraxuss our heroes took the shard job that the Curator had seen on his network. They were now his representatives in the Collectorate. The job briefing would be in under a bridge in Miras Kàlorn deep in the Apotheos district of Sehira.

Finally, Eugene went home, to his family sweet shop. It was closed unlocked, but after a brief investigation, Eugene found a puzzle left by his father that led to a mysterious lockbox…

We are a group of old friends from the UK who come together to roll dice, make bad decisions & play D&D. 

In this short episode, our DM, Charlie, gives you an introduction into the unique setting of Descordia.

RECAP TIME:

Nearing the capital city of Sehira, our heroes were a step ahead of their nemesis, Xethir – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god before his minions. But when the curator, collector of magical relics, reported that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on. Did they take the mysterious job, or did they try and beat whoever took it. 

Meanwhile, Freya found out from a paper that the Analyst, a great shardwork calculator was being scrapped for becoming unreliable. She had interacted with the machine a long time ago where instead of printing records, it had displayed a strange awareness, and asked her for help. So our heroes took to the capital city, Sehira. 

After a quick foray into the workshop corruption in Talbennery en route, they discovered a subterranean gateway system beneath the city. The sigilway was built by the Bysilman elves when they ruled over the empire, it was in ruins and now the lair of an arachnid, mutated and swollen by the workshop waste.

They slew the creature and got a quick revenge on the merchant who was responsible for the toxic waste, and decided to kickstart the sigilway to Boraxuss with a coilshard, a town close to Sehira and Eugene's home.

But the gateway took them to a ruin in the Boraxian Valley and our heroes hiked and hunted and took the evening as an opportunity to drink, and enjoy each other's company. Eugene especially, for they would soon dive into his past, his family's past. sweet shop where it all began…

Our heroes were a step ahead of their nemesis, Xethir – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god before his minions. But when the curator reported that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on. Did they take the mysterious job, or did they try and beat whoever took it. First hey would head to the capital city, Sehira. 

Our heroes soon arrived Talbennery, the workshop city where they quickly found Sentinel and Moxie's old friend, Dom who was seeking out an abandoned Bysilman Elvish subterranean gateway he believed was there for the taking - and could possibly be their ticket to the capital far quicker than any stagecoach. 

But beneath the soot and clamour of Talbennery was a corrupt core, a goblin named Gentle Clive was trying to expose the workshops for their toxic, alchemical waste, and as our heroes searched for the gateway in the sewers, they soon discovered the truth… 

The alchemical pollution had twisted an arachnid into a monstrosity. Glowing eggs lined the sewers, and once our heroes found what seemed to be apart of the Bysilman ruins. 

After a deadly battle that almost took the lives of more than one of them, they discovered the sigilway gate which displayed a number of available bindings, the closest to the capital was somewhere called the Boraxian Valley, not far from Eugene's home town.

That night, Gentle Clive was planning to scare the merchant responsible for the horrific pollution out of business, they offered their support to his cause. However Gentle Clive may have over delivered, as our heroes made for the sigil way, watching the flicker of flames over the city. They activated the gateway and arrived in a dark tomb…

But our heroes had got a step ahead of him – they simply had to find the first heartstone fragment of Xethir's dead god before his minions. But when the curator reported that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on – did they take the mysterious job, or try and beat whoever took it. They would first head to the capital city, Sehira. 

But after a bumpy journey and reuniting with Ora on the way, our heroes soon arrived at their first stop: Talbennery. In the workshop city they quickly found Sentinel and Moxie's old friend, Dom who was seeking out an abandoned Bysilman Elvish subterranean gateway he believed was there for the taking, so our heroes agreed to help.

But beneath the soot and clamour of Talbennery was a corrupt core, a goblin was trying to expose the workshops for their toxic, alchemical waste, and as our heroes searched for the gateway in the sewers, they soon discovered the truth… 

The alchemical pollution had twisted an arachnid into a monstrosity. Glowing eggs lined the sewers, and once our heroes found what seemed to be apart of the Bysilman ruins, it was in the web of the enormous spider. Smaller spiders swarmed from pipes and the large arachnid spurted poison and acid from is bulging eyes. Our heroes fought and tried to turn off the valves and stem the flow of smaller spiders, but the giant arachnid claimed it's first victim, as sentinel was knocked from the sky, unconscious…

But the journey was not without its hitches. Ambushed on the last day, our heroes fought two horrific creatures from the burrowings that a Talbennery alchemist was researching. 

Reunited with Ora, they soon arrived in Talbennery, the workshop city where they quickly found Sentinel and Moxie's old friend, Dom who was seeking out an old forgotten subterranean gateway he believed was there for the taking, so our heroes agreed to help.

But beneath the soot and clamour of Talbennery was a corrupt core, a goblin was trying to expose the workshops for their toxic, alchemical waste, and as our heroes searched for the gateway in the sewers, they soon discovered the truth…

The first step to get ahead of him, was find the first heartstone fragment of his dead god, before his minions. But when with the curator told our heroes that a contract was out to market to do just that, the pressure was on. They would first head to the capital city, Sehira.

So they hired a carriage and grumpy driver and hit the road. The first stop on the way: Talbennery.

But after travelling for days, they came across a roadblock of bandits and a turncoat Apatheos Keeper. But they too were not alone, and two horrific creatures of shadows and claw leaped from the forest and attacked.

The bandits fell, as did the Apotheos keeper who was brought back from the brink by Freya before leaving in the night. But that night a familiar owl tapped on the window of their inn… Ora had returned. 

He told of his time in the Edge, the black sun buried in the desert, with Enthor in his nodule world within. The last day of travel passed in a blink and, reunited, they soon found themselves in the soot and tar of the factory city; Talbennery where they quickly found Dom who was very much in trouble…

RECAP TIME:

Xethir sought the resurrection of his dead god, the Unbeing, but to do so he needed fragments of the Unbeing's heartstone fragments. 

But our heroes were a step ahead. They realised Xethir had put to market the job of finding the first fragment and they would take the job and seize the fragment.

But the person briefing our heroes, was the Clockwork man, the agent of the chains of faith and killer of clerics like Freya. But he didn't recognise our heroes. He revealed where the shard was hidden, and that they were to be chaperoned by Leonitis Balren, Ora's thought imprisoned father-in-law. 

Leonitis teleported them to Crulhoste, an ancient Bysilman facility in the Verdant range. Surrounded by a deathly miasma called the voidblight.

Imbued with Leonitis's protection spell, they entered and found Flora and fauna frozen in time, falling into dust when touched. After fighting a Bysilman dreadnaught, our heroes learned that the void blight itself was resonating  with a consciousness deeper in Crulhoste. The next room was a puzzle of mirrors and an orb that whispered of the piece of terror. 

In the last room, they found the shard. Broken free of its vault, tendrils and runes suspended and lashed out at our heroes as they cut them away. The fight was brutal, knocking Jacks unconscious, and the shard fell. But as it landed, it transformed into a great serpent with one, heartstone eye.

Then the second creature arrived and teleported away with an injured Moxie. But she had her own tricks. And misty stepped her way back to her friends and the safety of the lit road. Freya banished the new creature to its home plane; the world between worlds called the burrowings, and finally the last creature fell.
