Healthy Digital Habits for the Whole Family with Bryce Reddy

Season 2 · Episode 5

vendredi 12 juillet 2024Duration 36:44

In today's episode, I speak with Bryce Reddy the creator of the popular IG account @mombrain.therapist.

We talk about creating conscious and intentional screen time limits for both children and their parents. The bones of her message are that screentime boundaries and wellness start with us. We must model healthy screen use to ensure our children develop mindful habits themselves. She offers many ways we can begin checking in with ourselves and our children to strike a more healthy balance between virtual and real-time.

Check-In Questions if you're beginning to feel screen use is being relied on too much in your home:

  • Are we, or the kids, neglecting responsibilities in favour of screens?
  • Are we leaning more into online relationships and pulling away from in-person relationships?
  • Are we losing more time than we would like on our screens?
  • Are we losing self-care tasks?
  • Have I stopped doing other activities that I previously enjoyed?
  • What's behind the uptick too? Are there potential mental health issues? Anxiety? Bullying?
  • Are we spending enough time together as a family? Am I pervading family activities?

AMA Creating a Calming Bedtime Routine for Children and Caregivers

Season 1 · Episode 6

mardi 20 juin 2023Duration 34:43

In today's episode, I'm answering questions I got on Instagram all about sleep.

Some of the topics I discussed are:

  • How to help children stay in bed and unwind
  • How to help children who are resistant to changes in routine
  • How to manage transitions big and small
  • How to transition from co-sleeping to sleeping independently
  • How bedtime routines change as your children grow older
  • How to create calming bedtime rituals and rhythms for yourself

Some of the links I said I'd share:

1. The highlight in my Instagram profile called "sleep" has details of how we transitioned from co-sleeping as well as other accounts I recommend learning from

2. The bedtime verse we often said when my children were younger:

"A star for you to wish on,

A moon so warm and bright,

A cloud for you to dream on.

Sweet dreams, a kiss goodnight."

3. Journal Post: Creating a Peaceful Evening & Bedtime Rhythm

4. An episode I did with Chinyelu from the We Nurture Podcast called How to Develop Healthy Sleep Rhythms for your Child

5. Creating Digital Guidelines for the Whole Family Learn how to set up screentime routines, systems and limits for your family's children and adults informed by the latest research and your unique family constellation, lifestyle and values.

Setting Intentions for this Spring

Season 1 · Episode 2

mercredi 8 mars 2023Duration 13:28

In this episode, I share how I set intentions or goals each season.

Grab a pen or pencil and a piece of paper that you can divide into six sections (or fewer depending on what categories you choose to focus on). Once everything is written down, and you have a clear vision, it's important to break the intention into actionable steps for yourself. Scheduling events wherever possible in your digital calendar is highly effective.  Setting "SMART goals": Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound is an effective way to ensure your intentions are realized.

If you want to dive more deeply into many of the concepts and ideas I mention in this episode, please join Spring in the Home before Sunday, March 12th.
